Listen to “Lit” here and read more with Armani Colón below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Armani Colón! What prompted you to first start recording your music? Ever since I was a kid I knew deep down that a conventional “go to school, get a job, get married” lifestyle wasn’t for me. I performed in a school talent show at 6 years old and I knew when I came off that stage that I wanted to that for a living. I’ve always had a love for music, I can play the trumpet and read sheet music as well. I guess you can say I started recording using the microphone on my old MacBook (the white ones, give you context on how old it is lol) in a closet to help cancel out the excess noise from outside. Studio sessions were expensive so I would download beats from the internet, record over them and put them out there for others to listen. Besides the obvious garbage quality of the recordings, many of my peers told me they could hear the potential and to keep going. I moved to Los Angeles and have been pursuing this goal ever since. How do you get started when writing a new song? It all starts with a good instrumental. If the instrumental grooves the song I write will groove right along with it. I don’t have too much of a creative process but that’s what I love about writing. It’s the one job you can do practically anywhere at anytime. If I hear a good beat or inspiration strikes me out of the blue I can write it down or record it on my phone for later. Some of my best song writing ideas have hit me while I was riding around with beats playing. We love “Lit”! How did you write this song, and what does it mean to you? Thank you! I’m really glad ya’ll enjoyed it, it’s definitely a personal favorite of mine from this album. I knew when I purchased the instrumental that this would be a catchy high energy song. I came up with the melody for the chorus first, the words came later and then I wrote the first verse. I actually wrote the second verse at a later date when I was convinced this would make the album. What does this song mean to me? It means a good time, sometimes you need a song to throw on after a long day of work, or a good tune to pregame with before heading to the club. I feel this song can do both. Who or what would you say inspires you the most to pursue and put your time and passion into music? As vain as it may sound, I inspire myself to pursue this. I was fortunate enough to have a really well rounded up bringing, I’ve been to the nicest cathedrals in Europe but also sat on a porch and had real conversations with former dope fiends in the middle of the hood. No matter who I met, successful or unsuccessful, it seems that everyone has a yearning to pursue something in the arts. Their reasonings are theirs alone, but it seems to be something people always mentioned as a missed opportunity. I don’t want to be old talking about I missed my chance. I’ve seen different roads carved out in front of me and have seen people reach various levels of success but none have ever actually stuck to their art and was able to make a living off of it. I want to be the first person I know to do this and prove that it’s not a crazy dream or idea, it’s a tangible goal that can be reached if you just stick with it. What’s next for you? I don’t like to prematurely announce things before they’re at a certain level of complete but I can tell you that a video for my latest album “Armani” as well as a new mixtape are in the works. His goal is to follow in the footsteps of the many great Houston artists before him and elevate the city's music scene to a new level. “Driver” leads with an impressive beat, creative and spacious. Lyrically the track holds close to themes often touched upon in much of contemporary hip hop but there’s familiarity in these phrases and ideas. Suavé Don't Play’s flow grows to impress more and more as “Driver” pours through. A crisp and clean finish lets the rhythm and optimism of the whole thing fill the room in a bright and memorable fashion. Captivating lyrics hold tight to your attention, and ultimately there’s an energizing level of possibility and strength to the journey. Check out “Driver” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Suavé Don't Play! What can you tell us about your track “Driver? What does this project represent for you? "Driver" represents a fresh start for me. This is my first song after a 3 year hiatus from making music and my first under this moniker. It's also a reflection on a situation I've found myself numerous times over the past 3 years. Where is the best setting to listen to “Driver”, and what do you hope people take away from it? I would say anywhere you've got a drink in your hand and are surrounded by friends is a good setting to listen to "Driver." I hope people listen to it and hear something different than what they've heard before. If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why? Well this is my first song but I think it is an accurate glimpse of what I want my sound to be going forward. I like choosing unique beats and to me "Driver" reflects that. I also like to utilize various flows and cadences and I believe "Driver" gives the listener a good taste of that. What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? My main goal is to make music that is unique and that people can relate to. There is a lot of music out there, especially within the hip hop community, that sounds very similar. I'm hoping to buck the trend and bring something fresh to the table. What other projects are you working on through the end of 2019? I plan on releasing a full-length album by the beginning of December. The title is still a work in progress. • Talented Songstress Thea May Knows That There’s “Somethin’ About You”

Thea May hails from a small Territory outside of Sudbury, Ontario called Atikameksheng Anishnawbek First Nation. Her vocals encompass a vintage sound of songstresses before her time. Thea May’s music embodies the new sound of future pop music, hip hop vibes, electronic dance feels, 90's pop dance, and at times some tropical waves. Thea's writing comes from real-life experience, hardship, and passion. Growing up with artistic roots, Thea's love for music started very early in her life. Over the next year, Thea will be releasing a number of singles to share with the world. Stay tuned and keep your eyes and ears peeled. "The only permanent things in the world are love and music" - Thea May “Somethin’ About You” is a song that carefully walks the line between pop, R&B, and dance, appealing with familiarity but also engaging the more thoughtful listener with a uniquely dreamlike ambiance, a clear level of character, and a poetic and emotional lyrical drive. Thea May’s vocal style is mature, captivating, and charmingly raspy. There’s an accessible nature to the melody in “Somethin’ About You”, the rise up from the gentle verse to the uplifting hook, but with that, you get a notable level of personality and style that helps move the song away into its own realm. Contrast is utilized effortlessly, in both the development of the instrumentation and in Thea’s own varied and passionate performance. The song is addictively enjoyable, seeming partly classic, nostalgic and trip-hop inspired, and a fresh and exciting alternative to the mainstream loops of today. Check out “Somethin’ About You” here and read more with Thea May in our exclusive interview! Hey Thea! Welcome to BuzzMusic. We’re hypnotized by your voice! Have you had any professional training or having you honed your vocal style over time? First off, thank you very much it super means a lot to hear that :) I have had some professional training, although finding my voice was a very long and sometimes painful process. Playing live for 3-4  years often really got me controlling and finding the pockets in my voice. Singing is a journey I hope to always continue learning, it is my instrument. What does your track “Somethin’ About You” mean to you? What inspired this song? Somethin’ About You means so much to me and the other person involved in its creation. This song came from a horrible traumatic time in our lives. Both my producer and I lost a very close friend. We wrote this song as a gift for his family, we wanted them to have something to not just listen to when they missed him, but somewhere they could go to see him and feel him. When we were writing this track (it happened very quickly), it was almost as though we had help from other energies. Grief is something that I am very much familiar with, I wanted there to be a happier place to go when I missed my friends and family that aren't here anymore. Cherish your friends always xo. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? I hope that my listeners know that no matter what music has their back, I hope they listen to my music and it does what they need it to do. Music has always had my back, it has brought me out of the very lowest and scariest times in my life. My goal is to share growth, support weaknesses and help someone even just one person figure it out. What has been one of your most memorable or life-changing achievements so far? Releasing Somethin’ About You was a memorable moment that I will never forget, It was my first single ever released and it meant everything. Im looking forward to more life changing moments :) What are you working on through the end of 2019? • Safi Spreads Empowering Vibes With His Feel-Good Track “Ride With Me”

Raleigh singer-songwriter, Safi, is the epitome of the fusion of modern pop and traditional R&B movements. Discovering his talents at the early age of 13, he decided to embark on a journey towards becoming an artist, and since then has honed his skills and drive to fulfill those ambitions and visions. Safi’s inspiration stems from core passions and personal encounters of life experiences. Being true to his name which means “pure,” Safi strives to display authenticity in both his original lyrics and style. He aims to captivate the hearts, minds, and souls of fans and first-time listeners alike. With 12 singles cued for release, Safi is ready to flood the shelves and take the industry by storm. Safi’s vocals on his latest track “Ride With Me” fall into the softly soulful side of things, fusing a hint of pop/soul with a mellow RnB aura, his silky voice weaves its way through the dedication and loyalty at the heart of the song, working as hard as the words embrace the listener. While there’s a certain simplicity to the set-up, Safi makes the most out of the moment with a performance that sounds authentic. There’s a genuine lightness in the tone and a sense of love and appreciation in the way he handles the melody throughout “Ride With Me”. Flashy effects and multiple instrumental layers are not needed because Safi’s natural confidence and skill result in an expressive delivery that more than carries the sentiments through in a believable and open way. Safi presents “Ride With Me” with emotion and this is all that’s needed to let the song connect and leave its mark. Things are heading in a strong direction. Hopefully, there’s plenty more music on the way from Safi. Listen to “Ride With Me” here and read more with the artist Safi below! Hey Safi! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you originally get started making music? So I've actually always had an affinity for music and singing, specifically. Growing up with two parents who never pursued it professionally but were amazingly talented, nonetheless, really inspired my love for being a vocalist, so the love for music was always there, however I never really pursued it as a viable career choice until the summer of 2009. I was sitting with my cousins around a small white radio they had just listening to music when a particular song really caught my attention. It was Down by Jay Sean. I really fell in love with the song, the vocals, chord structure, just everything was perfect. A few weeks later I find out the artist Jay Sean was a British Indian. The more important part for me was that he was Indian, because even though I was born in the US, I am also of Indian background and there really was never any representation in the Mainstream music industry before this of anyone that looked like me and when I learned of this, it gave me hope that this really can be something that I can pursue and thus I began to dream. It wasn't a few years later that I began going to NC State University and while I was attending as a student, they had just finished construction of their first ever music production booths that we students could checkout and utilize to create our own music. So, naturally, having the dream that I did, I began to utilize these studios to produce my own beats, record my own vocals and develop my own music. This eventually led me to building my own studio which is where I produce all of my music today! :) We’re loving your next release “Ride With Me”! Can you dive into some of the lyrics and the meaning of the song? So "Ride With Me" is a very interesting song, because its really an anthem, more than a song, that speaks to the way it feels when you're finally seeing the results of all the hard work and countless hours you have put in to achieve your dreams no matter all the doubt and hardships you faced getting there. We all have naysayers and haters in our life that would rather see us crash and burn, than see us succeed, but the feeling you get when you can rise above all of that and really enjoy the work you do and attain the success you desire, that's the feeling this song tries to capture. Some of my favorite lyrics in this song that I wrote are in the prechorus where I sing "We don't need no speed limit, All we need is some music, 'cus we about to ride for life" This verse really locks down on the feeling of freedom from all the worries of life and all the doubters and hatred. It really hones in on the fact that we don't need anyone to slow us down 'cus we are doing what we love and we enjoy it. Another interesting verse that might catch many listeners off guard is in the chorus where I go "No one can put me down now 'cus I don't die." What I mean by not dying is rather than referring to my self physically, I refer to my impact and influence. I've always had this goal of changing the world in such a great way that people will remember me for generations and this is explicitly mentioned in the beginning of the second verse where I go "No I don't die, I live on forever, all up in your mind." So this song really tackles the idea that you should keep doing what you love, and good things will come. My main message that I want my listeners to take from this is that haters will always hate, but the feeling you get from doing what you love anyways and seeing the results is priceless :) How have you honed your vocal style over time, and did it take a while to find your vibe, or did it come naturally? So over the course of these past two years, which is the time frame in which I've been professionally producing music, I've worked with about 6 different beat producers on more than 15 beats, each one having their own unique style and sound. Being a vocalist I had to adapt my voice to each one of them allowing me to really push the limits of my voice and discover what my voice is truly capable of. This helped in establishing my own style which is pretty consistent in all of my songs allowing listeners to distinguish me from other artists, but this didn't come easy. Sometimes my flow on a beat came naturally and sometimes it just didn't and I would have to work really hard to get my voice to be where it needed to be for a particular song. There was one song I was recording over that was produced by one of the beat producers I worked with and it was by far one of the most frustrating projects I had ever worked on, mostly because it was a very different style and I couldn't find a way to adapt to it in a way that would sound good. At one point, working on this project, I was recording to this beat late into the night for hours, without any real progress, and my roommate comes into the room and kindly asks me if I could continue recording the next day because he had to wake up for work in the morning. At that moment, I literally dropped to my knees and started crying out of frustration, because I really felt like I just couldn't get this song to work with my voice. It truly did feel like failure and that night I went to sleep feeling like this would be my limit as an artist and I would never improve but nonetheless I knew I had to try one last time. That next day, I got back behind the mic once again, hoping for the best, and I don't know what it was, but my voice just connected with the beat and I recorded the entire song within a few of hours, where as before I was recording without any real progress for days. That song turned out to be one of my most successful projects to this day. It is not released yet, but you all will definitely be hearing it very soon :) Now I am at a point where I do understand my vibe and my style a lot better, but it definitely came with time. What are the main values you want to bring to the music world? I would like to bring the value of authenticity to the music world. I want to introduce the idea that you don't have to sacrifice who you are or your core values for fame. The fame and fortune can definitely coexist and coincide with your authentic and organic self, and I want to bring this to the music world as a new culture because a lot of famous musicians suffer from depression and anxiety and I truly believe it is because they are not allowed to be themselves and are forced to believe that they some how have to pretend to be someone they are not in order to maintain their status and success. I want to change that starting with attaining my own success while being completely authentic in order to show people that it is possible to have both authenticity and success :) What’s next for you through the end of 2019? So starting back in June and until now, I have released 3 singles on Spotify and other streaming platforms, released one music video, and have performed at a couple venues. I have 9 more singles cued for release up until March 2020, so I spend the rest of this year continuing to build my social media presence, releasing a few more songs, along with lyric videos and other related content, and seeking out and successfully attaining new performing opportunities at music festivals, and other events, developing my brand even further and getting it more exposure. • Monotronic Bends Genres In All The Right Ways With Newest Track “In Your Head”

Monotronic is a bright and shiny new NYC-based electronic collective of talented musicians. They blend an array of genres and styles to create a unique dance/electronic sound of their own. All top rate musicians, the various members of Monotronic have recorded and performed with artists such as Robert Randolph, The Spin Doctors, Joe Jackson, Meatloaf, Elliott Moss, to name a few. They are encouraged to showcase their talents throughout the journey of every song, which will vary from night to night during their electrifying live sets. Released this summer is the contagious hit “In Your Head”. Monotronic successful blends an intensifying indie-rock groove with undertones of electric funk and smooth riffs. The detail that comes through in the ambiance is increasingly colorful and forever impressive. From the offset a simple guitar riff captures the imagination, setting a mellow groove upon which “In Your Head” can shine brightly. As things progress, the instrumentation explodes into something with a much higher overall level of energy. The whole thing builds and builds in a cool and captivating way, so these cascading riffs and melodies all collide and collaborate powerfully. “In Your Head” has a hook that is immediately effective, especially catchy once you’ve heard it a couple of times. The melody here and the vocal passion sink in for the long term. Check out “In Your Head” here and keep scrolling for more with Monotronic! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourself and what role you play within Monotronic? I’m the founder and leader of the band. I write most of the music and share the lyric writing with my bandmates Alex Hayes and Adam Ahuja. How did Monotronic come to fruition? I was an Anthropologist in a past life! I lived among and did 2 years of research among the Orang Rimba, I group of hunter-gatherers living in the forests of Sumatra, Indonesia. The experience was great (and resulted in a 2009 book), but overall the academic environment wasn’t for me, so after some time I decided I needed a change. It took some time but when I finally decided to put Monotronic together I initially got together with a different NYC musicians for some informal jam sessions. From there, the project gradually evolved into what it is today. How does living in NYC influence your sound? I’m sure NYC has had a huge influence on my music in ways that are hard to measure: the pace of life here, the constant sensory input, etc. But first and foremost, the musicians here are among the best in the world; and that sets a high bar, which has definitely helped maintain the quality of the music. How has performing with so many notable artists assisted in establishing your sound? It has helped immensely. Everybody in the band, as well as those musicians I have played with along the way, have influenced the Monotronic sound. This is particularly so in the live context. Our live shows are highly improvisational and it’s everybody’s input that gives the band its unique sound. “In Your Head” is a great song! Can you dive into the meaning behind the lyrics? Thanks! The song is basically about the complexity of human relationships and the misunderstandings that can arise when one person decides not to communicate. The rest I’ve left intentionally ambiguous for listeners to make their own interpretations. Can you tell us about the creation of "In Your Head"? We recorded the instrumental live at Bunker Studios in Brooklyn. The lyrics were written a few months later with Alex Hayes, and we did the vocal overdubs in his home studio. How is "In Your Head" different than anything you've released in the past? Well this is a debut album, so everything is kind of new! Hopefully this track – and the album more generally – will leave listeners with an appreciation for electronic music. Monotronic is very much a “hybrid” of electronic and more traditional music (guitar, drums, bass, keyboards, etc.) and we have done our best to present our music in a way that is accessible while staying true to our vision. What's next for you? More music! Working on some singles, two of which are currently being mixed. In the late Fall/Winter we should be announcing some Spring Tour dates. Updates should be available on our site: www.monotronicband.com Connect with Monotronic on social media: www.instagram.com/monotronicband www.facebook.com/monotronicband

  • Pop Diva Sarah Jayne Dixon Releases “I’m Feeling Good”

Sarah Jayne Dixon is a singer/songwriter from Bettendorf, Iowa. After graduating from college in California on a vocal scholarship, she began recording her own songs. Sarah writes pop songs that have influences from classic rock and alternative/indie sounds. She recently released her third single, "I'm Feeling Good!" Her debut EP, "Liminal Space," will release in the next couple of months. Stay tuned! “I’m Feeling Good” is a heart-warming new single from Sarah that we’ve fallen in love with. It focuses on the fleeting feelings we experience when life’s going mysteriously well. Confusion and anxiety take hold of our thoughts. Sarah Jayne Dixon sings powerfully throughout the chorus to fully capture her audience. Her vocals are mesmerizing and have an impressive individuality. The single cascades around you as this stunning wave of carefully selected synths and moments, progressing quickly from smooth and dreamlike to rhythmically engaging and making perfect sense in the process. The song successfully envelops its audience for the full extent of its lifespan. “I’m Feeling Good” has elements of retro-pop fused with a contemporary and authentic Sarah Jayne Dixon flare. Listen to “I’m Feeling Good” here and read more with Sarah Jayne Dixon below! Hi Sarah! Congratulations on the single “I’m Feeling Good”! What can you tell us about this song? What prompted you to write it? Hey thank you! “I’m Feeling Good” is a fun, energetic song with lyrics that are in contrast to its upbeat sound. I wrote this song during a time when my life was going well – and when my life is going well, I get nervous that I’ll mess it up. The main themes of this song are understanding self-sabotage and self-worth, and allowing yourself to feel good, even if that means faking it until you make it. What do you think is the most stand-out lyric in “I’m Feeling Good”? I think the lyrics in the bridge will stand out most to listeners. That is the part of the song where I have the self-realization that I don’t need to mess up a good thing: “But then it’s fine, I remember why I do this to myself ‘cause I don’t think I deserve more happiness but that is just a myth.” What first inspired you to start creating original music? Ever since I was a kid, I loved writing stories and poems. I started combining that with my passion for music and turned my poems into songs. Writing out what you feel is a great way to cope and get your thoughts out of your head. What are some of the key values you aim to represent with your music? Telling a story through music that others can relate to is very important to me. I write songs about mental health, relationships, and navigating through life. I want my listeners to understand self-worth, growth, love, and loving themselves. What can we expect from you going through to the end of 2019?! My music career is just picking up and I have no plans of slowing down any time soon! You can expect my debut EP to release in the fall/early winter of 2019. Until then, I will slowly release some singles leading up to the full EP. I also keep up with posting short covers with my ukulele, and you can see these posts on my Instagram “@sarahdixon_”. 2019 will be wrapping up with a lot of music and videos so I invite you all to follow me on this journey! I am excited for my journey ahead and to just continue to grow within my art and develop new skills for future projects. Can you dive into details about the lyricism in “Felt Love”? What inspired this track? The lyricism on 'Felt Love' is my own expression of how someone else can perceive love. The lyrics takes you on a journey through intimate moments and how the effects of genuine, non judgmental love can be lost and hard to receive if you've never felt/ received it in that way, hence the lyrics '...you ain't felt love, quite like this..'. My inspiration stems a lot from personal experiences, where love can be a hard language to understand, when you're opening yourself to give love and opening yourself to receive love. I also observe relationships outside of my own and can truly witness beauty when love is understood and openly reciprocated between two people. Writing this song, I wanted listeners to feel the non judgmental love that truly exists if you allow it. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? The best setting to listen to my music, I would have to say in your bedroom lying in bed just unwinding, sitting on the couch with the tv off, driving down from the cottage, or even laid back by the water while the sun sets. When listening to my music I hope people can step away from the chaos that is life, from the face we all put on everyday and  feel something. I hope my lyrical content moves people and provides people with a safe space to be in tuned with their emotions, raw and all. I hope to create a connection with my listeners through them relating to my lyrical content. Every song has a motive, every song has a message and if you truly listen to the words and the energy exuded as these words are being expressed, you can appreciate the music that much more. Just take some time and truly listen. What’s the best thing that could happen for you as an artist right now? The best thing that could happen for me as an artist right now, would definitely be having a fan base; solidifying supporters of my music. To be able to have real people loving my work and also being a good amount of people, like thousands, would just be a blessing. What other projects are you working on through the end of 2019? I'll be working on 2 new projects toward the end of 2019. I have a single which I will be pushing in the next month. I will also be cooking up a new track to be released before the end of the year as well. Keep on track with Holly and her upcoming music via social media: Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic

  • Carolyn Thomas And Coskun Team Up To Release Powerful Ballad, “Cold”

Carolyn Thomas is a talented pop singer/songwriter from Perth, Australia. Carolyn writes contemporary music that is largely influenced by rock and soul. For the first time ever, Carolyn is collaborating on an electronic pop single called “Cold” with UK-based producer Coskun. The vocals were written and recorded by Carolyn afterwards. The song is an exploration of the questions and feelings surrounding an unresolved breakup and does so with a catchy hook and upbeat track. “Cold” starts off feeling impressively familiar and skillfully crafted, but begins to venture off into its own creatively unique arena. Complete with an emotional concept and a hard-hitting structure, these elements all help bring through more of that classic balance between artistry and professionalism. “Cold” cascades around you as this stunning wave of carefully selected synths and moments, progressing quickly from smooth and dreamlike to rhythmically engaging. “Cold” successfully envelops its audience for the full extent of its lifespan, based on the ups and downs that we all experience after a breakup makes this track highly relatable. Carolyn’s vocals are crisp and flawless, she adds an impressive and refreshing sound to an incredibly produced hit. The track concludes with a melt-your-face-off high note from Carolyn to further showcase her ability and dominance as a vocalist. We love this collaboration of Carolyn Thomas and Coskun and can’t wait to hear more. I highly recommend you check out “Cold” here and read more with Carolyn below. Welcome to BuzzMusic Carolyn Thomas! Your voice is so beautiful and powerful! Have you had any professional training? Thanks so much! Yes I actually studied as Bachelor of Performance at the Western Australian academy of performing arts, specialising in contemporary music. “Cold” is so raw and honest, what emotions did you have to channel when writing the lyrics? Cold is definitely a very personal song for me and comes from a place of real heartbreak. I usually write songs that a more like stories and aren’t so personal, so it was both refreshing and also quite intimidating to write a song that actually portrayed real events and feelings in my life. The emotions in this song are mostly hurt and pain from a heartbreak, but there’s also a lot of confusion and frustration in there about how it ended and the unanswered questions that go along with that. What do you hope your listeners take away from this song? I hope that listeners will be able to know that if they’re going through something similar, that they are not alone and that they can also move on in time. Is this the first time you’ve collaborated with Coskun? What future collaborations can we expect from you? This is the first time Coskun and I have worked together, and it’s been such a great experience. We’re definitely hoping to keep working together on some different tracks, possibly with more of an acoustic vibe, so stay tuned! What’s next for you through the end of 2019? I’m hoping to release a solo single toward the end of the year and then begin work towards my next EP. I’m also hoping to launch some new projects here in Perth and I will be doing some more performances around Perth. I’m also hoping to keep seeing COLD do well and hopefully get it out there to even more people. Discover more on Carolyn and her music via her socials below! Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
