I always wanted to express my ideas and my thoughts to people to get them to think differently, and relate to my music. I want to open people's minds and help them understand truly what you can get in life. What verses in "Party" would you say is the most impactful for the meaning of the track? The most impactful verses in Party would definitely have to be the first verse and the second bridge. The song is not just about being off drugs in the party, it has a deeper meaning to it. It's more about my mindset of the world we are in. The first verse explains that people will change on you depending on how they feel and drugs and money never will. A lot of people always want to escape the way they feel by using drugs, spending money or even using people, the second bridge of the song explains that. From my experience, nothing is forever. People die, relationships die and money is the closest thing that can stay with you all your life. How does it feel debuting your first track? Have you learned any important lessons while curating this first track of yours? It feels amazing! all the love and support I've received from this song is unbelievable. I learned that believing in yourself and stayingfocused are very important for executing your dreams into reality. Where would be your dream venue to preform at? My dream venue I would want to preform at would be the at Grammy Awards or at Coachella. Now that you have your first single released, can we expect to see more tracks to come? Yeah, so far so good. We recorded with Romesh Dodangoda in Cardiff back in February and it’s been a long four months. We are buzzing to finally have released our debut track and looking forward to dropping a couple more later in the year! Where do you gather most of your musical influences from? We very much have two different tastes in music but there is a small core of band that hit the spot for both of us and I guess these have steered us towards the sound we have currently. Bands like: Queens of the Stone Age, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Biffy Clyro and a bit of old school Muse. We loved “The Living Dead”. What was your most favorite aspect of creating this record from an artist standpoint? The song itself had been around in demo form for a long time. One of the most exciting parts was being in the studio and watching it all come together. The finished sound is huge and we love that! The main theme was perseverance. To always keep pushin for what it is you’re after; never stop. It means a lot to me cus of what I was going through at the time in my personal life as well as the fact that it’s just a honest song to me . All my music is true to me but especially this one cus it represents type of person I am . Someone that’s not gonna give up on what they love. You have a classic delivery. Who would you consider some of your musical influences? I have a lot of music influences from jay z, Andre 3000 to Scarface, lupe fiasco & mos def. As a rapper, what’s your take on the current state of hip-hop? In what ways has it changed for you? Even tho I might not like newer music as much as what I grew up on , now I feel like it’s a lot more fun. You can tell an artist put it out because he just felt good or was having fun at the moment. I wasn’t as understanding of rap 5-10 years ago as I am now, but I feel like back then artists tried to be more precise. It’s a positive & negative to both tho. I think now rap is looked at less like a job , & more only as something fun or cool to do for some if not most artists. And that changes pretty much everything about the music itself. For me I grew more of a love and appreciation for it . I don’t really worry about what the outside world is doing or how they view rap. I recognize their view, then move on & continue to do what I love & I guess the most change is that I really keep getting better. What’s next for you TWENTYFOUR? I’m working on music constantly since I started this series called “#24THOFTHEMONTH” where every 24th I drop a single and something special that goes with it . “Rollin” was the first single & came with a video created & directed by @YUNGBABYBOI .  I got another single coming out June 24. And I’ll keep coming every month.  Hopefully if my fanbase keeps growing I’ll drop a project at end of the year. Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell us more about how Watch Rome Burn came to fruition? Watch Rome Burn: Well, Drew and Jestyn are brothers, they’ve been playing music together since forever; in 2016, Jestyn had actually been on an extended hiatus from the music scene at the time and Drew had just finished up with his last band project and we started doing impromptu jam sessions in Drew’s studio – those sessions morphed into the songs on our first album (2017’s “Now On VHS “).  After we had played a few gigs as Watch Rome Burn, we met Petey hanging out in the scene,  And we really just all three clicked well - it was like we had known each other forever – we found that we share a lot of common interests and sensibilities- musical tastes, for sure, but also all three of us posses a deep abiding love for vintage cheesy 80s horror flicks - even before we were playing music together we were getting together regularly, (and still do) to stay up all night on marathon horror-binge sessions.  Petey had played a couple of gigs for fun with us as a second guitar – then he started jamming with us on bass and the sound was just incredible – really started coming together so well we were like “why fight this?! “ and we officially became a three-piece about two months ago! Who are you top three musical influences? Why? WRB: The obvious parallel most people will probably draw, not without good reason, is the early 90s Seattle grunge scene. The bands and the scene from that era are huge influence on Watch Rome Burn - Drew and Jestyn in particular, growing up in the PNW, felt a deep connection to that sound. As individuals, however, we have pretty disparate interests and influences - Drew loves video game composers, like David Whittaker, who he calls “the most prolific composer of all time”, he states, “He wrote more than anyone. And he mixes music like I do. With a style that he calls direct programming, where he is basically in charge of every single detail every single note”. Petey welds am obsessive love of Weezer/The Beatles/Rob Zombie/Metallica together to inform his bass playing. Jestyn is hugely influenced by the early LA punk scene circa ‘77-80 - the innovation, creativity and ferocity and spectacle of bands the Screamers, X, The Weirdos and The Germs made a big impression on him and his playing. Wait, what was the question again? Can you tell us more about the meaning behind your track “Snakeskin”? WRB: It’s a hostile sort of song for the disenfranchised, overworked and hated. We wrote it for people who have busted their backs only to look around them at a world they don’t understand, one that doesn’t care to understand them either. In this modern technocracy, life seems to change faster and faster and leave more forgotten casualties who’ve slipped through the cracks. The title is about your appearance, your surface or skin being connected to the idea of original sin, like that which the snake delivers. From an artists standpoint, what’s your favorite lyric in “Snakeskin”? Why? WRB: “Human ingenuity leads human behavior” is our favorite line. Sums up the song in a melancholy kind of way. Innovation and progress can be the most disturbing and disruptive forces on the planet depending on who’s wielding the hilt. What can we expect from your much anticipated album? An angelic cacophony of cataclysmically euphonious chaos - venom soaked harmonies and devilishly devine hooks wedded to insightfully meaningless lyrics. Residing on the Canada’s East Coast is the gifted and passionate singer/songwriter Burry. Just like her quirky and spontaneous personality, her music holds an authenticity and originality like no other. Burry is a strong advocate for not only mental health but is a member and supporter of the LGBTQ2A+ community. Burry strives to create music that speaks to and for those who cannot speak for themselves. For her debut single ‘For A Sad Soul”, Burry took all the proceeds from the music video release and donated it to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. Burry’s debut single “For A Sad Soul”  is an incredibly raw and vulnerable single about her friend who passed away due to mental illness. Can you start by telling our readers more about yourself and how you got started in music? Well I’m Burry, I’m 24 years old and I’m from the East Coast of Canada (Halifax, Nova Scotia). I’ve been involved in music since I was a little kid. I was in piano lessons and guitar for a while and joined every band I could in junior high and high school, I’m actually a pretty savvy clarinet player! Music has always played a huge role in my life, whether I was in the Jazz band, auditioning for musicals or performing open mic nights - I couldn’t get enough. “For A Sad Soul” is a beautiful song, we’re very sorry about your friend’s passing. What does this song mean to you? What do you hope listeners take away from it? Thank you that means a lot. I mean you never really get over losing someone you care about. I struggle with communicating how I’m feeling but I find that writing or singing about it is such a good outlet for me to express myself.  That’s where my idea to write this song came from. I was in a pretty bad place but I knew I wasn’t the only person struggling to cope. I think this song addresses a lot about mental illness that people don’t really talk about in the media and I think that is so important. I think it’s important for young people to see that sort of stuff in the media and not have negative connotations along with it. It’s important we start normalizing mental illness so that we can start normalizing mental health. With the music video, I wanted to show how mental health may effect an LGBTQ2A+ relationship so I thought what better way than to show what I went through after my friends passing.  Although I felt alone, I was surrounded by people who cared about me unconditionally, which taught me that I too was capable of loving myself unconditionally. Tell us what your writing process is like? I guess my writing process is split into two parts. First, I like to take myself somewhere secluded or quiet like a coffee shop, museum, or a park, and I just get in my feelings. I write down every thought I have, it might come out as just words, a poem or a picture and then that will spark an idea for a song. Next I just pick one of those ideas that resonates with me and go home and sit with the keyboard or guitar and work on the music and lyrics. Who are your musical influences? How do they inspire you? Musical influences for me is anyone who is unapologetic about who they are. People who sing or speak out about things that aren’t always the ‘popular’ thing to say. I’m a fan of artists like Biig Piig, King Princess, dodie, Saint Sister, and Wyvern Lingo. I spent some time with my friend and her band from Ireland, Wyvern Lingo, and they have played a huge part in inspiring me to pursue music, and to be the most authentic person I can be. Women in music, queer women in music, anyone that I can relate to and anyone who is, openly, their beautiful selves are who inspire me most. What’s next for you Burry? Well I am fresh off of the release of my ‘coming out’ single “Bi the Way” just in time for celebrating a magical Pride Week here in Halifax. I am enjoying prepping and rehearsing for a couple Pride shows in July. Next for me, I’ll be taking some time to spend with friends and family and also to spend some more time writing. HOWEVER, EVERY OTHER SONG WAS MAINLY INFLUENCED BY THE BEAT ITSELF; I PREFER TO WRITE MY LYRICS ONCE I'VE FELT OUT THE BEAT. While curating "L'amour" did you come across any serious creative blocks? How was the curative process of the entire EP? OH YEAH I ALWAYS GET CREATIVE BLOCKS, A LOT OF THE TIME, I END UP WRITING THE FIRST VERSE AND THE HOOK AND THEN TAKE A FEW DAYS BEFORE I COMPLETE THE SONG. AND THEN OTHER TIMES, I'LL JUST THINK OF RHYMES RANDOMLY, ALMOST LIKE A SPOKEN REASON AND WRITE IT DOWN; IF IT FITS IN THE BEAT, PERFECT! IF NOT, I JUST STORE THEM AWAY. USUALLY AT THE MOST RANDOM TIMES, WHEN I HAVE DONE A LOT OF PHYSICAL WORK, THAT'S WHEN THE MOST LYRICS COME TO ME. Leon Seti is an Italian electro-pop artist that is bringing some serious talent to the growing category. Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, music was always a part of Adrian McNeal’s life. Better known as The BlkSheep, Adrian has been writing since he was 13 and pours his heart and soul into his music. I chose BlkSheep because I wanted to be different. I wanted to stand out from everyone else, even the ones in my family. When you hear the name Black Sheep, people say they are part of a family that's disgraced by them, but I don't really agree with that meaning. A Black Sheep to me is a powerful individual who isn't afraid to embrace who they are, despite anyone's opinion. The name means a lot to me because it describes who I am in life and I know I'm not the only one. So I want to be the voice for them. Who are your musical influences? How do they inspire you? Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, J Cole, Young Bleu, Trell, Rod Wave, 6lack, and so much more. They all rap with a message. Their music isn't just music, it's life. It's a life that I can relate to. When I listen to their music and I see where they come from, it's gives me just that much hope. To continue to push through, cause I know that I'm not the only one. What's the meaning behind the lyrics in From The Bottom? It's basically about my life. The struggles that I've been through and acknowledging where I've been and still moving forward towards the future. What do you want your fans to take away from "From The Bottom"? I want them to know that it's okay to start from the bottom cause that is the starting place. Everything may not be glitter and gold like the next man, and that's okay, cause your starting place may be from the bottom, and the only way is up from there. I was inspired to start writing music by listening to the radio and writing down the lyrics to all of my favorite songs. Often after I would then replace their lyrics with ones of my own. How do you feed your passion for music everyday? Each and everyday I try to think of creative ways to share and spread my form of art with the world. Let’s talk about “Swimsuit”! We love the flow! What was your writing process like for this song? The creative and writing process for “Swimsuit” was actually an easy approach. Soon as I heard the beat I uploaded it inside Pro Tools and started recording (before I even purchased it). The lyrics were just flowing. Didn’t even write them down. It was all in the moment. After I thought this would be the perfect song for the summer. What makes you stand out in the Hip-hop music scene? My authenticity is what I believe makes me stand out in the Hip-Hop music scene.  I don’t portray images of other artist nor create facades to generate a liking into my music. What’s next for you? Working, pushing, & striving is what’s next for me. At this point I believe it’s certain key elements that I need to take my career to the next phase. My foundation is pretty solid.
