Alex Maes mission is to spread positivity through her music and to empower people to create social change. Alex's songs have intricate melodies and strong rhythms, creating grooves that are catchy, creative and exhilarating. Alex's dynamic and powerful vocal resonance drives her single “Red Dress” . “Red Dress” has this bluesy and tenacious soul to the Broadway sounding tune alongside intricate melodies and precise keys. The instrumental has upbeat energy and a fast-paced tempo to keep you entertained and attentive. There’s specific moments in the song where Alex takes her voice into different registers including falsetto and contextual high notes, delivered with power and executed perfectly! Alex Maes is an authentic artist by nature with a natural tone that can afloat well on top of blues music or really any type of genre she chooses to tackle! What I interpreted from this single is that Alex Maes is talking about a woman who is extravagant, powerful and confident. In a more metaphorical sense, stands out apart from the crowd, drawing attention towards her and serving as a magnetic force. We can't wait to hear what's next from Alex - be sure to check out Alex's brand new music video for "Red Dress" below! Listen to "Red Dress" from Alex Maes here. Hi Alex! Care to introduce yourself to our readers? Hello readers! My name is Alex and I am a musician from a small town in Colorado, but currently, I am studying music at Berklee College of Music in Boston. My passion is to write songs and perform around the world because I love the energy of a live crowd and sharing my stories with others. When did you begin singing and how has it impacted your life? I began taking piano lessons when I was five, and soon after that, I started vocal training and performing. In middle school a couple girl friends and I started a pop/rock band and traveled around Colorado, which allowed me to begin performing in front of large crowds. Music has given me a sense of purpose in this world and has allowed me to connect with people on a deeper level through performing. I speak my truth when I’m singing. How would you describe your style and genre of music? My style and genre is all over the place if I’m being honest. Most of it is pop/rock but there are elements of jazz, funk, and soul in my music as well. I’m still exploring what kind of sound I want my music to be. What’s your personal interpretation of your single “Red Dress”? Red Dress is a female empowerment song, channeling elements from the Women March and Time’s Up Movement. I was inspired by Dolly Parton’s “5 to 9” song about a woman that works her butt off every day to provide for herself and her future, and that’s when I came up with some of the essential lyrics of the song. Red Dress is groovy and fun to listen to, but it’s also empowering and fierce. Can you tell us a bit about the creation process of "Red Dress"? Red Dress has been a breakthrough song for me because it helped identify what kind of artist I wanted to be. I began writing the lyrics to this song by visualizing the type of woman I want to be: Confident, sexy, empowering, and fierce. The music of this song came together after a long time in the practice room laying down chords and singing different riffs, and once I played this with my band, I finally heard the potential of this song and what it could become. What can people expect from you in 2019? In 2019 people can expect more music and more performing. Red Dress is only the beginning. • Seasoned Artist Matt Nakoa Releases New Storytelling Single “Beggar By The Weekend”

Artist, Matt Nakoa, grew up on a small goat farm in Smyrna, New York. Matt began composing music and creating music as a teenager and won a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. Matt Nakoa studied alongside soon-to-be Grammy winners St. Vincent and Esperanza Spaulding. After college, Matt toured with his band and eventually landed in New York City’s vibrant piano bar scene. There he quickly became a star performer at Brandy’s Piano Bar in Manhattan. Having a solo album with a electric pop theme and another that explores a more simple acoustic palette I am eager to hear his latest “Beggar by the Weekend”. "Beggar By The Weekend" is a down to earth song that touches the soul. It's a song that listeners can easily relate to. Matt Nakoa reminds me a lot of a younger Adam Levine with his memorable voice. What I love about "Beggar By The Weekend" is how the song sounds live - wow! The production really makes it sound like you are right there listening to this song front row at one of Matt's shows! There is a perfect climax halfway through the song that gives us a taste of Matt’s vocal range. We are completely captured by Matt Nakoa's unique soulful voice. Matt Nakoa has soul and for a composer, lyricist and performer he's got it all! Bravo! We are really looking forward to more this year from Matt Nakoa. Listen to "Beggar By The Weekend" by Matt Nakoa here. Hello Matt! Could you introduce yourself to our readers? (In best Johnny Cash voice): Hi, I'm Matt Nakoa. What was the hardest thing about learning piano? Probably stopping when my parents told me to! They would get super annoyed when it was time for the evening news and I was still going at it. Also, I guess if I'm being honest, I had a hard time focusing on my lessons sometimes, because I'd really rather improvise or compose than practice my scales. Oh, and bombing in front of everybody sucks too. That's definitely happen more than a few times. But the joy of music far outweighs the challenges. “Beggar by the weekend" tells a story. Could you give us some insight to that story? Well, it's sort of an every-man, every-woman story about working your ass off and feeling like it's not getting you anywhere. Hell, sometimes your love life's no better. So it's just a song about how that shit can happen if you're not careful. That said, it can just as easily turn up roses for you with the right perspective shift. It ain't really so bad, you know. How did the concept for the music video come about? I met with some friends: a director and a couple of super talented DPs I know. I gave them the album and a budget and said, "What seems doable?" We zeroed in on Beggar because it was a fun-time tune and we quickly developed a cute little treatment for it. Production involved about 80 people and one insane weekend. I remember that exhausted, happy feeling very well. What can we expect from you with your music in the coming months? I just finished a new album! It's called Casting Shadows, and its' getting pressed as we speak! So hold on to your hats 'cause there's a-gonna be a sandstorm of singles, videos, and tour dates this year. • Vancouver Hip Hop Artist SwayzeAck Releases New Single “You Don’t Know Me”

SwayzeAck is a high energy hip hop artist breaking into the music scene. He was born in Vancouver, raised in Kelowa for a while and then moved back to Vancouver just last year. SwayzeAck’s music is described as unexpected and re-energizing. This new artist is extremely motivated and hungry to share his music with the world. Being relentless in the music game is his daily motivation and helps him push to continue to chase his dreams. Tuning into “You Don’t Know Me” is sure to give us some insight on his style! This catchy title hip hop track is one that will have replaying in your head for hours. There’s this eerie intro that sets you up to think it would be a more alternative track but then the beat drops. This eerie sound is a huge compliment to this entire track. And he gives it attention where it needs to be. There is a trap/hip hop bounce to this track that you follow with his lyrics. And speaking of, a talented lyricist is shown in this single. SwayzeAck is coming to the table fully motivated and committed to this music industry and ready to show everyone who he is! Listen to "You Don't Know Me" here. What’s up! You mind sharing with our readers who you are? Whats good Buzz Music?! My name is Dylan, but most people know me by my artist name SwayzeAck. I'm an up and coming hip hop artist out of Vancouver BC Canada. I was born in Vancouver and am currently living here, however I grew up in Kelowna BC and spent the majority of my upbringing there. I would classify my music as a new wave type of motivational hip hop with huge influences from the likes of Logic, G-Eazy, NF and Eminem! What is the story behind your name? My last name is Steciuk (Stay-zee-ack). Back when I was in high school most of my friends would call me Stayzee which eventually evolved into Swayze. I embraced Swayze as my alter ego. When the time came to pick my name, I wanted the perfect combination of my new persona while also keeping my last name - thus became my artist name of SwayzeAck. How has music influenced your life? My biological father was a talented musician his whole life but wasn’t always around when I was growing up. When I found my love and passion for music it seemed to come so naturally because it was in my blood; I truly felt like it was exactly what I was meant to be doing. As a young teen too, I was actively involved in both leadership and public speaking. I also dabbled in some acting as well. You could say being center stage was something I craved. Performing and creating gives me the ability to do all the the things I was passionate about growing up but this time on a bigger scale, impacting a bigger audience. Why did you release “You Don’t Know Me” as a single? My path this far in life has led me to wear many different hats. What I mean by that is that I have gone down a variety of different career paths that I thought would be my end all be all. I only truly embraced music as my career at the age of 18 which some would say is a little late to the “music game”. My tendency to change my mind about what I wanted to do stemmed from not truly believing what I was doing was what I was born to do. Because of this, many people wrote it off as just another short phase in my life. This song means a lot to me and what I want it to express is that people have no idea what I have been through, what I am all about, and what I am about to bring to the music scene. When are you dropping your next release? My next album will drop January 2020. Expect a few singles to hit along the way. • UK Sensation Saint Daniel Brings Us A Lyrically Themed Sound With His Latest “Ménage à Trois”

Saint Daniel is a UK-based refugee artist not letting anything keep him from his music. With a pretty intense and tumultuous life-long journey, he is using music as an outlet to share his story. Growing up in Russia, Saint Daniel gained much of his inspiration from his father showing him Pink Floyd’s The Wall and The Beatles Yellow Submarine. When he turned seventeen, he took action for some change and moved to London to pursue his dreams and bring his project to life. For nearly a decade, Saint Daniel struggled through a tough immigration system that did not agree with his sexual orientation. Finally granted asylum in 2015, he was ready to make his dreams come to life! His style is reminiscent of trip-hop, alternative R&B, and dark pop tunes carrying through with conceptual lyrical themes. Saint Daniel recently released a new single titled “Ménage A Trois". Right into the track I get this lapalux dark alternative feel yet there is something poppy about it. The choice of lyrics in this track is very complementary to the instrumentals chosen. And you can sort of hear a double up of his vocals throughout the track making it trippy. What sounds to me like a piano is a subliminal character in this composition and I love it! So many things to love here and I owe that to Saint Daniel himself. I can hear the passion throughout the track and how ready he is to live out the dreams he worked so hard to get to. His story and his music are both are extremely inspiring and we can't wait to hear what's next from Saint Daniel in 2019! Listen to “Ménage A Trois" here and get to know Saint Daniel in our interview below! Hello there. Would you please introduce yourself? Hi, I’m Saint Daniel - UK-based Refugee Artist. Originally from St.Petersburg, Russia but I’ve been based in London for 12 years now. The name comes from The Book of Daniel, as for years I’ve been captivated by The Writing on the wall and its portrayal of the end of time and biblical apocalypse. Can you tell us more about this risque track “Ménage à Trois”? The track certainly has a provocative title, it is somewhat like my personal “Like a Virgin”. But despite the fact that I use quite a lot of innuendos in the lyrics, the song is not about non-traditional domestic arrangements or any sexual explorations, quite the opposite - here I present self-acceptance and self-love as a form of internal polyamory. There’s always me, myself and I, we’ll dwell in our Ménage à Trois. In terms of the sound I really wanted to bringing back the dark feeling of the late-90’s trip-hop, somewhat reminiscent of Massive Attack. What made you chose this track as your first single? This was the first song I developed specifically for this project and the subject I touch on summarises my internal strivings over the past decade. It is important to discover your true self and start loving yourself for who you are first, before proceeding to loving others. It serves as a promo single and a good initial introduction to what I’m about to present to the audience within the next few months. How has your life inspired your music? This whole project is the culmination of the tumultuous, life-long journey I’ve taken, from facing persecution and abuse due to my sexual orientation in Russia, which led me to settle to the U.K., through a decade-long struggle with the immigration system to attain asylum. All the emotional whirlwind I went through manifests itself in my music. After you drop the EP, what is next for Saint Daniel? The debut EP “Escapism” is currently in the making and I’m planning to drop it mid-2019. Apart from releasing music I’m working on a book, working title Something Gotta Ease The Guilt, where I’m describing my whole story as a refugee and take on serious subjects such as mental health struggles, accepting my sexuality and claiming asylum, but I present it all in an ironic and satirical way. It’ll be a highly entertaining read full of shocking moments. • A Classic Yet Modern Hit From Tommy Odetto

Tommy Odetto has had a love for music since getting chills as a child when he came across Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and The Beatles. As Tommy got older, he picked up a guitar after discovering guitarists like Jimi Hendrix. This passion grew within him and a few years later, Tommy Odetto was a finalist for Guitar Center’s King of Blues! After running with two bands successfully, Tommy decided to pursue his dream of becoming his own front man and since then has been so fortunate to be invited to perform at Bottlerock Napa 2018 and opened for huge names! Tommy Odetto’s latest EP is an unapologetic Rock and Roll album packed full of love lost, depression, addition, recover, self-discovery and redemption. Let’s tune in to “Runaway”! “Runaway” is your classic yet modern rock and roll track. From beginning to end there are blazing guitars, tons of drums and intensified vocals. A track that is ultra satisfying and gives you a gratitude for the Hard Rock world. I can hear some blues tones, rock and roll, with a little grunge pop. A blend so hard that you will keep listening in. This artist is not new to this music world and you can hear it in the production of this track. Giving us a taste of Tommy Odetto’s world and his truest passions. And even with the video, I love the choice of visuals. It doesn’t take away from the song which is done a lot these days. Classic with a touch of modern! Listen to Tommy Odetto's new song "Runaway". Hey! Do me a favor and could you introduce yourself to our readers? My name is Tommy Odetto. I’m a 30 years old guitarist from the Bay Area. I grew up obsessed with Rock and Roll, and spent hours and hours in my room listening to and trying to play along to records I loved. As a teen, you could find me standing outside of clubs with guitar in hand, trying to sit in with any band I could. Over the years I’ve been in a few bands, and have played gigs all over the Bay Area and beyond. In 2016, I decided to start singing and front my own band under my name. Since then I’ve released a couple of EPs, and have had the honor of opening for a handful of notable artists that I love. I feel like I’m just getting started now, and I look forward to playing as many shows as I can, and to keep developing as a musician. When did you discover your sound? A few years I just started writing music that I wanted to hear more of. I wanted to try to marry all my influences together in one sound. I wanted the Heavy Rock feel, with undertones of 60s pop, and the soul Drenched Blues Rock Lead Guitar. Your latest EP is full of life. What would you say is the deepest track on the EP and why? Thanks so much. For me, I’d have to say the track, “In The Know”. It’s  very simple and almost stark, in its arrangement, a lot of space, but it’s a  very emotionally direct song. To me, it has a Phoenix rising from the ashes type of feeling to me. Where in the process of creating this EP did “Runaway” come to you? Runaway was actually the first song out of all these songs that was born. I was just playing my guitar at a friend’s, and it all just fell out. The best ones usually do. I’m really proud of that song, because it’s a great hard rock pop song, but there’s a lot detail under the surface. What is your most favorite performance to date? Wow that’s a hard one. I’ve been blessed to play so many fun shows. One that sticks out at the moment, was performing at the Bottlerock Festival in Napa last year was really fun! All of my family and friends were there so it was a real treat for me. What can we hope to see from you this year? A lot of new music, and a lot of shows! If you're looking for a feel-good track to add to your new playlist, this is the one! We're looking forward to hearing the rest of this themed album by Jake Justice later this year. Listen to "Sunrise 2028" here and get to know Jake Justice in our interview below! As always, hey guys! Here today we have Jake Justice. Hey Jake how’s it going? Better than ever!  I've spent the past several months locked away in the studio and I'm excited to finally share what I've been cooking up. Let’s dive deeper into this new single “Sunrise 2028”. Can you tell us about the concept behind the album this single is on? When I was a kid, I discovered my love for music from watching movies. I learned how to write music by listening to the Star Wars soundtracks over and over again and figuring out how to play them on the piano by ear. I think that my love for film music taught me how to write music based on a story, which is the essence of film scoring. In fact, I wanted to become a film composer until my twenties when I helped start a band and discovered my love for live performance. Soon enough, I discovering that producing and DJing was the perfect medium to create and perform the kind of music that I love. So after a few years of learning how to produce electronic music, I decided that in order to be my true artistic self, I needed to combine my love of electronic music with my film composing inclinations. Sunrise 2028 is the first song of a concept album, based on a story I created about where I feel like our society and culture is heading in the future. The narrative takes place in the year 2028. We all live in a perfect and peaceful society, but there’s a catch - we are all controlled by social media algorithms that determine what we buy, who we vote for, who we love, and who we are. The algorithms are created by the ultimate conglomerate of all tech giants, Alphazon (the name is a combination of Amazon and Alphabet, the parent company of Google). The result is that all of humanity is effectively trapped in a simulation. Meanwhile, there is a movement of people known as “The Anomalies” who fight against Alphazon by helping people break the simulation through free thought. What inspired this concept? The concept was inspired by the events are going on today and where I think society is heading. Alphazon represents the result of all of the major corporations that seem to be merging and gaining power these days, and I believe that our free will already is under attack by corporate and political manipulations. Sunrise 2028 is about the struggle of breaking free from thought oppression, and discovering your individual identity and reconnecting with the natural collective consciousness with other free-thinking humans instead of the artificial collective consciousness under the control of social media algorithms. I believe that we all go through a struggle of discovering our personal identities and trying to figure out where we fit in with the collective - Not too long ago, I went through this exact struggle - I was raised in a very religious home where my purpose and identity was essentially handed to me on a silver platter. As I grew up and began to have my own life experiences and study scripture and philosophy on my own, I began to question things, I could never really find any ideology that completely resonated with my values and beliefs. I was searching far and wide for the right “label” so to speak… and the answer that I discovered is that there is not a single ideological label that described my identity correctly. I think that once we attach ourselves to labels, we box ourselves into certain stereotypes and a certain way of thinking. Sunrise 2028 is about thinking for yourself and creating your own multilayered and unique identity. Listening to the track you have so many great things going. Can you tell us what sound did you begin with for this single? When I first started writing Sunrise 2028, I knew that I wanted it to sound like a movie. I wanted people to feel like they were in for a wild ride when they listened. I also knew that I wanted to incorporate elements of my classical/film music upbringing along with a sound palette of the future. I truly believe that if Mozart were alive today, he would be making music on a laptop, not a piano. All of the great composers always pushed the limits and created new musical trends for their era, and I wanted to do the same. So in order to evoke an epic cinematic feel, I used string, brass, and other orchestral sounds, and combined them with heavy bass, ethereal synth pads, and an uptempo beat. When can we expect the album to drop? I’m still perfecting the album, but I expect it to be finished this fall. We will be announcing the release date soon! • We Heard It First: Lucas Yeet Releases New Single "Lucid Dreams / Evil Things”

Lucas Benn better known as Lucas Yeet is an American Contemporary Hip Hop artist and producer that hails from Iowa. Before Lucas Yeet, he dropped many underground mixtapes under the name Lil Lucas. Gaining attention from many influencers like Adam 22 of No Jumper and Lil B, he’s managed to get signed to GC Management as an influencer. In his own words “becoming complacent counters results and growth”. His love for the music has him dedicating himself to 12 hours of working in the studio engineering. One big he strives to emphasis is his true love to the music and art. “Lucid Dreams / Evil Things” has that trap house feel that is familiar in Hip Hop today. Nice production with the vocal auto-tune. The track has an psychedelic beat with kind of an eerie undertone. You follow the tune through the world of trippy sounds; its like you can feel yourself in a kaleidoscope as you listen too "Lucid Dreams / Evil Things". The intro comes in so soft and almost makes you think it is going to go that indie R&B route but a beat drops and you hit with a wave of sounds. The written lyrics give you the idea of maybe a lost love that went wrong. The story sounds so sad but the production is like a warm hug. Listen to "Lucid Dreams / Evil Things" here and be sure to check out our exclusive interview with Lucas as we talk about his new music and what we can expect from him this year! Hey Lucas! Would you mind introducing yourself to our readers? My name is Luke Benn and I am a 17 year old artist who is based out of Ames, Iowa. Music isn't something I just picked up to follow any certain wave or anything. I have been posting tracks on Soundcloud since 2014 and have been fascinated by music for as long as I can remember. When I was really young my brother played the guitar and taught me a ton of cords and I had the basics down and learned by like age 4 or 5.  I also would turn anything into drums and just make little loops and stuff in my room. I started writing music and actual songs around age 10-11 but didn't actually start recording and stuff until like age 12-13. My musical influences range from Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West, to completely different genres with artists like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tame Impala and Arctic Monkeys. Could you give us a little background on this track “Lucid Dreams / Evil Things”? I wrote the song Lucid Dreams about this girl who I have been associated with for years. I start of by saying "on, and on, on and on" because it seems like no matter how much the relationship peaked the problems were on and on. The whole concept of Lucid Dreams is feeling like she is still their though we have been separated by these demons that trouble and haunt us (i.e. Evil Things). I then go in and talk about how its always on and off between us and in every fight you say your going to leave but then your really not its all temporary. How do you maintain the creativity in your music? I maintain creativity throughout my music by letting the waves just hit me and fully absorbing the sound for what it is. I can make some super lyrical deep story telling song but if i'm not feeling that vibe and its not natural or how i'm really feeling in the moment I cannot force it. But I get ideas and add to my lyrical structure just by actually going out and experiencing new things because at the end of the day if your just cooped up in the house all day making music your gonna hit a point where it all starts to be reminiscent of your other songs because your not adding any new experiences of feelings into your psyche. What artist do you plan to work with in the near future? In the near future I plan to drop a lot of music with a handful of friends. My homie and gc management mate Levll and I got something coming as well as continued work with my brother Kid Stvcks. I also should be having a super dope track coming soon with my Iowa City homie Macio who is really special. I also have been doing a lot of production and engineering for other artists so you may hear and track and not even know I am the one behind it all. What platforms do you use to push your music outside of your main listeners? Right now my music is fully pushed through my social media networks and Soundcloud. I am working on a full body of work that should be coming in the near future that will feature coherent message based hype tracks that also are sonically mass appeal friendly. That Album will be available everywhere when it drops so stay posted for that - its for real something special and my best work to date. What should we expect from you in 2019? In 2019 you should expect a lot of music coming from myself and all the great people I have been blessed with a opportunity to work with. My album will 100% be released this year as well as I will be making appearances on a handful of albums you wouldn't expect someone of my size to be featured on. Actual music aside you should plan to see a lot of tour dates and shows pop up as well as even a major label deal I've been working out - but that will all fall into place with due time. • We Heard It First: Beyond Tha Noize Releases New Hit “Dance All Night”

Richard Sacilotto aka Beyond Tha Noize is a DJ and producer currently based out of Melbourne, Australia. Heavily inspired by his father growing up who also was a DJ when he was young. His father never made millions of dollars but he instilled in him his love for sharing his style of music with everyone that entered the venues he performed at. This alone jolted his inspiration to bring that same energy and happiness around the world. Excited to hear “Dance All Night”. This track is a dance HIT! Richard knows exactly what he is doing with this project Beyond Tha Noize. The song comes in strong with a heavily composed 30 second intro. Guiding us right into these eccentric vocals that we cannot help but to dance to. Then about midway through the song there is a build up that you would think is the climax but no just some nice transitions. Blending all the sounds that make good feel good beats. Then we get the cliff into the outro of the song and still giving the same energy on a different level. Closing out just as strong as it opened as it washes you over with a cool tonal ending. What is the inspiration behind them? I have a line up of new releases in progress at the moment. Exclusively, the next track I am releasing is “SMOKING KILLS”. I’m also currently working on a couple more tracks to follow, titled “THE LOVE 2019” and “COMPUTER LOVE”. I’m absolutely loving the vibe of our next release SMOKING KILLS and the direction it’s going in. The vocals on this one are amazing and the lyrics have so much meaning behind them. The meaning and inspiration behind SMOKING KILLS follows the story of meeting someone special, everything being perfect although the message indicates the fear to commit to something serious but then later being regretful that it may be too late. But is it?! That’s all I’ll give away at this point so, you’ll have to wait for the release with just as much eagerness as I have. The release date is just around the corner, so make sure you’re following my socials so you don’t miss it! Also, remember, smoking kills. ;) Connect with Beyond Tha Noize on social media: www.beyondthanoize.com www.facebook.com/beyondthanoize www.instagram.com/beyondthanoize www.twitter.com/beyondthanoize www.soundcloud.com/beyondthanoize #BuzzMusic

  • Oscxr Graces Us With New Single “Hourglass”

Oscar Gimenez, also known by the artist alias of Oscxr is a Venezuelan music producer currently based in Miami, Florida. He was first introduced to music through guitar lessons and through time he became experienced with music and was introduced to Digital Audio Workstations, where he taught himself how to play the piano and bass. As of 2018, Oscxr began to collaborate with a variety of artists of diverse genres. He has acquired experience in producing Hip Hop, Downtempo, Bass House, Tropical House, EDM, Electronic, Dancehall, Moombahton, and Trap. Oscxr released his single titled “Hourglass” and we were immensely impressed by his articulation, lyrical ability and his escalating flow. Oscxr presents us with witty lyricism and progressive bars we find extremely appealing. The beat reminds us of that trap sound we're familiar with and love the most. Noticeable in artist’s like “Belly” work, the beat anticipates the trendy hit we find ourselves grasped too. Oscxr has that suave spanish delivery in his music and I believe it sets him apart from most rappers that’s currently out at the moment. “Hourglass” showcases a unique side to the artist he is and his capability to distribute punchlines with inevitable hooks that remains frequent and addicting in our memories. Bravo Oscxr! Listen to "Hourglass" here and get to know Oscxr in our interview below! Hi Oscxr, care to introduce yourself to our readers? Hello! I'm an independent Music Producer and Sound Engineer originally from Venezuela. I moved to the United States a couple years ago, and I've been expanding my musical knowledge ever since. I'm a pretty chill guy, and I appreciate every single person that spends their time listening to my music. As of now, I play percussion, guitar, bass guitar, and piano. You should totally follow me on Instagram, @oscxrgimenez, and talk to me! I love talking to people, and moreover, I enjoy explaining my songs and the meaning behind them. When did you first begin producing music? I really began producing way back in 2013. Back then I really had no direction and did it for fun. I only played guitar, and I didn't really know where to start in production. After a couple of years, around 2016, I had already acquired experience with bass guitar and percussion, which influenced greatly on how I produced afterward. Then, I learned piano by myself and that's when the production really kicked off. In fact, if you go to my SoundCloud, www.soundcloud.com/0scxr, you can see how my production got better with time. What are some challenges you may face during the production of a song? Honestly, even though I can work alone, I prefer working with other people. I am a strong believer of teamwork and sharing the experience of music with other people. Many times I never consolidate my projects and only a small fraction of the things I've done have been released. It's funny because many producers can relate, that whenever they're working on something they usually get sidetracked, get a new idea, and move onto that idea without ever finishing the project they were working on! The other thing I do a lot is mixing and mastering for other people. I work with Txxmyboy on most of his songs, Canadian rapper Sakif, and from time to time I also work with Canadian-based producer Aman (you can search him on Spotify under the name Aman & Yenny). Can you tell us about the creation process of "Hourglass"? How was collaborating with Txxmyboy and Jin? So, for Hourglass we had this beat. I absolutely enjoyed it and I immediately sent it to Tommy, known as Txxmyboy, for him to rap on it. I've been working with Tommy from day 1. He possesses a raw talent I have never seen before. His first single (and coincidentally also my first single "Coupable") was written on the spot, and he just recorded one take and then sent it my way. For this track, he introduced me to Jin, a friend of his. He has an amazing voice, and I am so happy to have worked with him. He also has a great songwriting power, and he is a producer himself. You should definitely stick around because I'm releasing more songs with him in 2019. Hourglass talks about a relationship that ended terribly. Tommy starts rapping at first, and then Jin is introduced. After his verse, Tommy comes back rapping in Cantonese (he speaks English, Spanish, French, and Cantonese) and then switches back to English. It's very experimental, but extremely creative and requires skill nonetheless. What can we expect to see from you in 2019? Well, I do absolutely everything. I produce electronic music, hip hop, trap music, chill-out music, downtempo... You name it. I don't really stick with one genre, I love making everything and anything. What really defines what I put out is the emotion that I'm trying to transmit on the song. Soon enough, I will be releasing a song, in Spanish, that talks about nostalgic moments, with a sad, slow mood. The song itself starts slow, but then I decide to pick up the pace and make a happier chorus, as to indicate that even though we might get nostalgic and sad, we should overcome it and look at past experiences with our chins up and grow from them. We only get one life! Make the most out of it. 2019 is the year for independent artists, and I'll be sure to stick around! Connect with Oscxr on social media: Instagram

  • The Frontier Releases New Single "Gravity"

The Frontier is a polished indie-pop project that’s emerging out of DC, who combines mainstream rock and indie flavors to fabricate a unique sound of their own. Formed in 2016, the band has already garnered the likes of producer Austin Bello. So far, they have released two EP’s alongside two singles and amassed fans from all across the world. They released their single “Gravity”, an alternative indie rock sounding atmosphere with textural elements to make it the most outlandish and unique single yet! “We got the universe in our hands, we going places we never been” I loved it due to the nomadic nature of the lyricism. It evokes the curiosity sense in us that encourages us to go out there, travel and explore the world. “Gravity” has a special effect in which it can abundantly transport us into the realm of the music and it’s an all around cleansing and replenishing moment! The extravagant vocals and electrifying instrumentals all fuses together to create a subtle yet chaotic mixture. I’m personally a fan of detailed music like this where i can traverse not only the song but my thoughts and emotions. Listen to "Gravity" here. How did The Frontier meet and form? The Frontier was originally a solo project that I was working on with my producer that started in 2015. After about a year of writing and recording I decided to seek out musicians so I could perform the music live. It first started out as a three piece, but we quickly decided we wanted a bigger sound. After a few lineup changes, some craigslist auditions, and some local musician friends filling in, we finalized our lineup. Two EPs and two single later, here we are! We are currently working on our 3 rd ep. What are some challenges you often face during creating music? For me personally, I like to think I've started to develop a rhythm to creating our songs. There is definitely a process that takes place. It took me a while to figure that out. Once I did I didn't really have a problem creating new music. For me that is where I get my joy from. It's in the creating process. After that is where the real work begins. That's where it gets tricky. Between your previous two EP’s which has been a personal preference for each you and why? This is always difficult to pick a favorite song, album, or ep. They are each special on their own. I can't really say I prefer one over the other because they both represent different times in my life. I like the grittiness of the first ep. For the second one, I like it because it feels like we matured and refined our sound a bit. Too hard to pick one over the other. Sorry if that is totally cliche, ha! What is the meaning behind your single “Gravity”? There is no meaning? ha. I mean technically there is, but really it's a lot of tongue-and-cheek lines we came up with in the studio. I will say this. I am pretty big into Science Fiction and the day we wrote those lyrics I told my producer about a dream I had being abducted by aliens. We kind of just took off from there. Weird, I know. Who are some of your musical influences that have contributed to the success and growth of your careers? There are so many but i will try and narrow it down a bit. Recently, around the time I was writing this music I had been listening to Bowie. I really dug how he could just be down right weird sometimes AND write these catchy tunes at the same time. I also listened to a lot of The Shins. James Mercer is an amazing lyricist. Around the same time I started to really get into Wilco. Been a fan of Jeff Tweedy ever since. There are a lot more but I'd say these are the most relevant to our music. What can people expect from you in 2019? I am excited to say A LOT! We are releasing new songs, working on a dynamic and energetic live show, and as many performances as we can fit in. We are thinking about working in a music video or two this year. I mean at this point the sky is the limit. We wanna take this ship as far as we can sail it.
