- Saidah Seye Releases Fire Track Titled “Fiesta”
Saidah Seye is a bilingual Somalian hip hop and rap artist born and raised in Brooklyn. Her voice is elegant, but she definitely knows how to bring on the Brooklyn attitude when it comes down to rapping. She started her career out working behind the scenes for DJ Khalid’s album “Suffering From Success”, and also pursued job positions at Essence Music Festival and CIAA. Saidah had been extremely successful on the business side of the music industry, but she knew that she would achieve even greater prosperity making her own music. Some of Saidah’s work includes a track with popular French artist ‘47’, and her hit song “B.A.D.” with WildnOut star, ‘Arnstar’. Saidah’s latest release “Fiesta” is her own take on Busta Rhymes’ “I Know What You Want”. It has a summer flair, a slick flow, and an upbeat tempo that will make anyone get up and dance. When Saidah raps in “Fiesta”, she controls the mood of the listener. She gives off positive vibes that will make you escape reality. What I like best about this track is the strong, confident female presence that Saidah brings. The verse to best represent this is “Nah I ain’t cutting no slack cuz I got it like that, and when you lose this I ain’t coming back”. Saidah makes it clear that she knows her worth and won’t settle for less. I love how she incorporates a feel-good message into her catchy song, and I hope to hear more songs like this from Saidah in the near future! In the meantime, you can find Saidah on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and iHeart Radio. Check out "Feista" here and scroll down for more with the artist below! Hi Saidah! Great to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself? So I go by the name of Saidah Seye and I am 24 years bold* from Brooklyn, NY. For starters, I grew up in a Musical household. My mom taught me how to dance because she realized I had to rhythm and refused me to inherit that Somali gene lol and my dad taught me how to remember lyrics then we started rapping together because he was a rapper himself. My mom bought me every single Disney movie and costume letting me sing and act all over the house but once my parents separated things in my life changed and music went from something I did for fun to a sad melody I’ve become finding comfort and safety in the sounds of music. Later on, I got bullied a lot in school and wasn’t content with my reality so I sought out after school activities in music to occupy my time and the stage became my home. In school, I would get teased a lot but the audience was far from the stage making me feel far from my worries and far from my bullies and it didn’t matter what you thought of my appearance or even personal sentiments through music I made you connect. At 18, I began my career behind the scenes of the industry working in promotions and marketing for PMI. My first client was DJ Khaled where I worked on his project 'Suffering From Success' and following that, I worked at the Essence Music Festival and CIAA. Currently I am back on the scene as an independent artist and have music on multiple streaming sites worldwide including, Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and iHeart Radio. Does being from Brooklyn have an influence on your music and style? Being from Brooklyn heavily influences my music and style. I owe it to myself and to the Kulture to keep this tone alive. I am my city and my experiences; pressure makes diamonds and being born in the early 90s Of thorough BK, being alive around the time of Biggie’s death, hailing from the same city as some of the biggest artists in the game I think it’s extremely important to share with the world how Brooklyn helped contribute to the Saidah Seye you see before you. When I rap, I want people to feel that I rap with with conviction and pride; proud of who I am and where I was raised. What is it about Busta Rhymes’ “I Know What You Want” that made you want to do your own take on it? The song “I Know What You Want” came out in 2002, so I was about 8ish I want to say and the lyrics in this song represented my idea of true love lol. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS SO DAMN SILLY lol but growing up in the hood seeing thugs on a daily basis but hearing this more sensual side of the streets had me in a trance. I was like “whoaaaa I want that kind of love, I’m young as shit but I want something as passionate and real as this”, not to mention Rah Digga’s verse is ICONIC!! So when I heard this beat from Teedee who lives in the U.K. (shoutouts to him) it made me nostalgic. I was now 23 with a whole lot of love, life and experience under my belt and I was like I owe it to my younger self to freak the hell out this beat. So I did. What inspired you to write the lyrics in “Fiesta”? The beat sort of spoke to me, we had a conversation, a mutual agreement about what needed to said. In addition, I felt like it was important to be assertive and sexually outspoken in a sensual way. Sex is seen a such a taboo but I want to embrace it in a Mariah Carey meets Dorothy Dandridge meets Saidah kind of way. Who would be your dream collab? My dream collab would be to get Ariana Grande and Tory Lanez with me on the same track. I think it would be so fire. What's next for you? Right now I am working on another mixtape but I’m super focused on performing so I can build my fan base. I hope to build something solid enough by the end of Fall so I can form a little tour this winter. It is Bodega Babe Season All Season For 4 Seasons after all lol. Thank you for having me. - Check Out Violet Crime's "Heard You Like The Rolling Stones"
Hailing from Chicago, Violet Crime is a pop rock band that is inspired by retro soul and pop music. They have an EP titled, “Paper Queen” which was co produced by Derek DiScanio of State champs and will be released through Play Together Records. This record label helps make a social impact and builds collaborations between visual artists and musicians to create an immersive experience for its listeners. To add to this, a portion of all project merchandise sales goes towards to support Chicago after-school music programs. The band hopes to empower those in their community and the next generations of artists. "Heard You Like The Rolling Stones” gives a nostalgic feel and the band’s stands out with its twangy and unique sound. It is an interesting blend of what sounds like country and Americana Music with the acoustic guitar and short guitar ornamentals and vocals while it also gives off a soft rock vibe as well. The lo-fi piano also gives it an indie sound, but somehow the band manages to put it all together into a cohesive sound that is their own. A pop culture reference to the infamous Rolling Stones is the basis of the song, giving somewhat of a story line for us to follow. Chill vibes are felt all the way on this song with the smooth vocals, especially in the verses where the singer has his runs down the scale. By the end of the song, not only will you love the Rolling Stones, you will be loving Violet Crime too. Check out "Heard You Like The Rolling Stones" here and read more in out exclusive interview below! Hey guys! Great to chat with you. When was Violet Crime formed? Hi!! Thanks so much for having us, we're excited! Violet Crime's roots go all the way back to early 2017. It probably wasn't until about a year after that that we started really taking things seriously though. Who are the members of the band? Tell us a bit about yourselves You've got Jeff on vocals, Selina on rhythm guitar and vocals, Tom Goier on the lead guitar, Kasey on bass, and Kevin on the drums! We formed when Jeff and Kevin played a couple of songs they had been writing at an open mic that Kasey's tech startup hosts once per month. Once we realized we wanted to try starting a band for real, Jeff called up his old high school jazz band buddy Tom to join on lead guitar. It probably wasn't until 7 or 8 months after that that Selina was brought on to do some singing and cover Jeff's rhythm guitar duties so he could focus solely on singing. We all come from differing musical backgrounds (punk, hardcore, jazz, bluegrass, pop), but take a lot of pride in the fact that we all have careers in business and technology aside from what we do with music. We also care a lot about social impact - through our label Play Together, a portion of all our merch sales go toward supporting after-school music programs in the city of Chicago. What was the inspiration behind, “Heard You Like the Rolling Stones”? This was one of those songs that took a long time to develop. We jammed on it and tweaked it for close to a year before it really took form. We wanted to write an energetic pop rock song that was catchy the whole way through, like the music we enjoy listening to. When jamming on the song one day, Jeff just randomly sang "I heard you like the rolling Stones" over the melody... We don't know where it came from haha. But we thought it was catchy, and just wrote the rest of the song around that idea! Who are your biggest musical influences and why? Some bigger artists that come to mind are Hozier, Vulfpeck, Houndmouth, Hippo Campus, John Mayer. But when it comes to songwriting, we're just as much inspired by peer bands from the scene here in Chicago. Flora, Marina City, Red Scarves, and Manwolves just to name a few. What is your favorite lyrics in “I heard you like the Rolling Stones”? Probably "just keep it cool; I'll dance if you want me to, even if I'm too drunk" - it's kind of silly, but one of the more vulnerable parts of the song. Jeff is clearly out of his league and ready to humiliate himself on the dance floor to keep a lady's attention! What's next for you? Our EP "Paper Queen" comes out on June 14th! We'll be playing our biggest show of the year at Bottom Lounge with some amazing Chicago artists. We've also already started writing new songs, so may drop a couple more singles later this year. Stay tuned! Thanks again so much for having us! Stay connected to Violet Crime on social media! Facebook: www.facebook.com/violetcrimeband Instagram: www.instagram.com/violetcrime #BuzzMusic
- Sammi Shyne Released A Banging Record “No Leash”
Sammi Shyne is a hip-hop artist and poet from Toronto, Canada. His sound is very unique, and well-rounded with different elements in his style. He likes to create a poetic, and energetic experience for his listener. He believes you will feel those emotions through several of his songs alongside his stage presence as well. Music and writing has been his deepest passion for as long as he can remember growing up, and been dedicated to the craft ever since. As an artist with many different talents, he plans to push forward a movement, and message that is given to you through sonic, tasteful music. Sammi Shyne released his single titled “No Leash” and nothing prepared us for what was to come. The beat was gritty, nasty, and grimy. His delivery and flow was purely FIRE. he transports his listener through an era of rap music with good lyrics and a banging beat. Honestly, I can go on and on about how the beat was so fitting and aggressively projected. I already began thinking about how I wanted to play this song in my car. Imagine riding around the city with a dope rap song that has a deep bass, leaving chills through your body. The delivery on “No Leash” was so sonically fitting to the track, it felt like puzzle pieces were just connecting with one another. The energy is just right, getting you in the mood to party and flex. “No Leash” is a well-executed hip-hop and rap track that would serve the generational rap lovers justice! Sammi Shyne is curating a sound that will be mainstream eventually, and he would be the face of this unique artistry being displayed. Listen to "No Leash" here and get to know more about Sammi Shyne below! Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sammi Shyne! Your song “No Leash” is a super dope record! What was the theme behind it? I Appreciate that you rock with the record, it’s been getting a lot of great feedback from my supporters and people back home. The theme behind this song was simple, get to the bag. I wanted to emulate the idea of a being free to get wherever you want in life, for me it was being on stage and getting to do what I love with nothing to hold me back, no chains, no fear, no leash of any kind. It’s a mindset and an energy that I wanted to carry out for the theme, especially after jotting down my first bars “mindset on let’s get it, wicked.” Were there any challenges you’ve faced as an artist, writing this single? An interesting challenge I may have had was trying to differentiate my creative thought of “getting to the bag” because obviously that idea is something that’s talked about often in rap and in hip-hop culture. So I feel like I needed to bring an approach in the context, energy, even story and flow of what it’s like “getting to the bag” and the whole idea of it. I like my lyrics and content to be multi-dimensional, even some of the simplest ideas. For example in the first couple of lines after the first hook I say “Rag to riches, no flash, I’m dashing” that could be looked at in different ways, and it’s not even too complex but it’s in my style of writing to make my lyrics open for interpretation, letting the mind of the listener go deeper into what’s being said. How does the title of the song, reflect the theme and message you had behind it? When I was in the process of creating the song, I started writing exactly what was in my head, and all I could I visualize was performing on stage. From the day of the show as I get prepared, to the moments before touching the stage, to giving it my all when I’m out there and the feeling of that rush to do it all over again. Originally I was going to name this record “The Run Off” but my producer who goes by the name of Jon Wick started brainstorming some other names for it with me and every time I played the song immediately I’d get this vibe of wild dogs running free, letting loose. That’s when Jon and I came up with the name “No Leash”. It held that exact idea in my lyrics and theme of getting to the bag, to the stage, to that pay cheque or goal you’ve had your eyes on for so long and the title helped that be told in an artistic way. The SUCKAFREE way, with nothing to hold you back. What inspired you to write “No Leash” ? What sparked my inspiration to write this song was recollecting the feeling after the first time I ever performed and got paid. That night I got off stage and I said to myself “this sh*t (ish) for me, I can really do this”. It was the most money I ever made from music at the time and so I strived to get better and hustle harder for bigger stages, better artists to perform with, and ultimately create better music for people to enjoy. I’ve been doing shows over the past 2 years now, and people tell me I’m charismatic on stage and look comfortable up there, but I was never one who really liked being the centre of attention, especially not in front of bare folks. Over time I adapted to go for it with no hesitation or fear, being a student of the game was important to my craft and wanting to improve was essential to my growth. The thrill and love I get when I’m on stage is unreal because it doesn’t matter who’s in front of me or how many people I see there, I perform with the energy and mindset that thousands of people are watching me at this very moment and because I’m so confident in what I do, I get that boost of excitement to get out there and let loose like a dog off the leash. Til this day performing became what I love most about music, bringing that energetic experience, making it a worthwhile performance, and telling my story through words, movement and passion. I’ve come along way and that journey inspired me to document it in this song. Hence “Tell you all about it, how it happened.” What’s next for you, Sammi Shyne? Album dropping June 20th. 96 Summers by me and one of my best friends who produced it, Kavi. Mark it down. I got a lot more projects to drop, I’m exploring a lot more sounds of mine that I’ve yet to show. We’re doing more performances, making more quality music, more money, more problems to solve. But I’m game, my team is straight so I’m excited for all that’s to come. Hopefully I’ll be visiting LA soon but if anyone out there is ever in Toronto come check me out, we get busy. I’ll be having a seasonal SUCKAFREE gear coming out starting this summer, so the art we got going will reach a new level this year, bet on that. - “My Heart” By Often Home Exudes Positive Vulnerability
Often Home is an Indie/Pop/Rock band falling somewhere between Coldplay and Young the Giant. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, the band is comprised of four members. Aaron, Ethan, Carson, and Cody’s music focus on the tough internal feelings we all struggle with. They make it easier to take a look inside and make it a positive learning experience. From dealing with depression and anxiety to celebrating the small joys of life, Often Home deliver songs to sing regardless of circumstance. “My Heart” was released earlier this year and I’ve been playing it on repeat. The fresh and ground-breaking sound arrangements have me blown away. These four friends and bandmates have a special inspiration and idea when it comes to creating music. The whole band’s chemistry is evident through the speakers. The timing and tempo of everything is flawless and finely-calibrated. The vocals are rich and transcendent, I love the detailed lyricism and effortless delivery. My personal favorite lyric that resonates through me is “My life is truly good, I know it. It’s got what it needs, I’ll show ya”. This lyric continues to highlight the overall positive outlook and meaningful message of the song. Often Home have found a way to combine the comfort of your living room with the discomfort of looking inside yourself to seek a better you. Focusing on the positivity and small things that make us happy are crucial for our survival and finding our worth. “My Heart” is available on all major streaming platforms and we highly recommend you check it out as soon as possible. Stay on the lookout for this explosive band, Often Home. Listen to "My Heart" here and get to know more about Often Home below! Can you start by introducing yourselves and describing how you met Four of us make up the band. Ethan Partridge on drums, Carson Straube on bass, Cody Hennings on lead guitar, and myself (Aaron Wienss) on guitar and vocals. The band first started out as Ethan and I writing songs together in the basement of our college house. We knew each other because we both studied music in college and out of that, we found that we write really well together and have a lot of fun doing it. We played a couple small acoustic shows just the two of us and we quickly realized that we wanted to give these songs more with other instruments so we invited Carson, who was also a good friend from our college music program, to join us in writing and playing bass. We played some more shows as the three of us and still felt like we needed more and at the time Cody was just finishing playing in another band so we asked him if he'd be want to join us as our lead player. Thankfully, he said yes! How long have you been making music together? As all four of us, we've been writing music for about a year now. Ethan and I wrote music for about a year beforehand with Carson joining somewhere in there. How does the writing process work? Our writing process really just depends on the song. It usually just starts with me or Ethan coming up with a general outline of a song with lyrics and chords. Then we'll bring it to the other guys and where it goes from there is different every time. Sometimes we'll either all hear a similar idea of where a song should go but most times we all have different concepts of where a song should go so we try to play with all the different ideas and see what sticks. More recently however, a lot of our songs have started out with a guitar part that Cody writes and he'll bring it to me because we're roommates and we'll add lyrics and structure from there. Then we'll bring it to Carson and Ethan to see what they think and build on it. We all have different abilities that we bring to the table in regards to the songwriting process so we try to utilize that instead of just sticking to the same routine every time. Can you tell our readers more about the meaning behind "My Heart"? Yeah so "My Heart" comes from that place we all find ourselves a lot when one thing goes wrong and from there it seems like everything else starts to go wrong. In trying to work through that negativity, we've found that being thankful for the small things in life like fresh coffee in the morning or a summertime campfire with with good friends (which here in Michigan is quite an amazing thing after such a long winter!) can really be the deterrent to feeling like the world is caving in. The song feels pretty happy but the lyrics don't quite follow that happy mood which was also on purpose because to us, "My Heart" has become the pick-me-up in those moments. What inspired you to write about meaningful, uncomfortable subjects and make them comfortable? I think write about these things because now more than ever, we live in a society where it's really easy to just be comfortable and stay there. It's easier to stay at home more than ever. It's easier to stay alone more than ever. Both these things are awesome at times but they can also very difficult to break away from because it requires becoming uncomfortable. We've found that it's in the moments where we step out of our comfort zones that we feel like we are truly able to grow and discover who we were meant to be. We just want to encourage other people to do the same. Connect with Often Home on social media www.instagram.com/oftenhomeofficial www.twitter.com/oftenhome_music www.facebook.com/oftenhomeofficial
- Energy? Music? A Good Dance? How About All 3! Hartland Releases “Coffee Time”
Hartland, a 24 year old dubstep producer from Toronto, Canada, constantly tries to push the boundaries of his music and elevate his sound. With bass heavy sound design and hard-hitting percussions, his tracks are sure to get you moving. Hartland released the record “Coffee Time”, and he wasn’t lying when he stated he likes his bass to have a heavy sound! It smacks the listener like an airbag with force. With a climaxing cinematic introduction, the beat drop is the topping on the cake. The detail in this production is efficient, and the electronic elements is like an electric Gatorade filling up our bodies. You get to dancing, head-banging, and just moving your body alongside the rhythm of the beat. Perfect for the clubs, dance parties, and festivals, “Coffee Time” hypnotizes its listener and leaves you a victim to musical abduction for almost 6 whole minutes. Does this song sound tempting yet? I mean who doesn’t love a good adrenaline rush!? “Coffee Time” seems to be a representation of the good Caffeine we love to fill our bodies with in the morning. It breathes energy into its listener, and curates a sudden urge to tackle on any life obstacles. This for me, was extremely badass and an unforgettable electronic experience I won’t forget. Listen to "Coffee Time" here and get to know more about Hartland below! Hello and welcome to BuzzMusic! We really loved your new song "Coffee Time" congratulations on the release! Can you tell us about Hartland? I come from a pretty creative background, I’ve been a graphic designer for like the past 5 years. Slowly I’m learning stuff like After Effects and Cinema 4D and hoping to eventually get good enough to do my own promo videos and live visuals and stuff like that. I’ve been producing for the past 6 years and I’ve been on tour once. It kind of sucked because I got screwed out of a lot of money by my management. That was a pretty rough time, but I got to meet a lot of awesome people and even met some family that I’d never met before, oh, and I played at a few cool places in Prague! What are some challenging aspects in producing music? The biggest challenge I face on a daily basis is finding inspiration for creativity, some days are fantastic and I can bang out a few ideas or even full tracks, but I go through weeks, even months on end sometimes where I just feel like everything I make is garbage, but I somehow manage to pull through every time! What is it about the genre of electronic that made you fall in love with it? I’ve been playing guitar since I was 10 and I’ve been in multiple bands throughout my music career and none ever seemed to work out, and honestly, growing up I was never a huge fan of electronic music. It was only up until I was about 16 when I went to see Swedish House Mafia on their One Last Tour. The show was incredible and it was that night that I decided that this is where I wanted to take my music career to. I started off making Electro and Progressive House, fell into Deep House and Techno, then finally Trance right before I found my passion for Dubstep. What was the overall vision for the song “Coffee Time” ? Coffee Time was created because I locked myself in an apartment I was renting out in The UK for about a week last summer. I remember being with my buddy Shatter (check his stuff out too, he’s a gnarly producer in his bedroom trying to work on a collab a few months before I left for my tour and I made the nastiest sounding bass. We were supposed to use it in our collab in which he was going to release on his EP but because of scheduling our collab never fell through. So instead of letting that nasty ass serum patch go to waste, I used it in my own track, and thus, Coffee Time was born. Any exciting upcoming performances for you? What can we expect next from you! Sadly I don’t have any upcoming performances as I’m focusing on finishing up my EP, however I have a few local events in Toronto in the works, but the biggest one is just a small EP release party which the date is still TBD. I’m also working on an insane amount of new music including a collab EP with no_ktrl and a few collabs with the homies Ch3shire, Liquid Lou, Knerv, Koptic, Goth Slam & Matalo. Blu released the single “Work” featuring the artist, Tweezy and we’re here for this fun, light-hearted single that’s gonna have everybody moving. The energy presented in this record was perfect. I was able to listen to “Work” while naturally rocking my head back and forth with the music. This was an indicator to me that “Work” has this magic effect on it that will have its listener hypnotized! I liked how both rappers had a complete different approach, flow, and style of rapping, yet they fused together extremely well. Presenting nice chemistry throughout the song, they still managed to project the same meaning behind the record, just with different approaches. The hook had a nice, contagious melody we loved. It had us singing along, especially when they repeated the phrase “Work, Work, Work”. This fun, vibrant, and charismatic song is right up our alley, and would be great for this summer motivation. - Young Gii Released “I Need To Smoke”
Young Gii is an artist who was born and raised in Nassau Bahamas in a neighborhood called Pinewood Gardens. He quickly fell in love with the world of Hip-Hop at the age of 17 when he moved to America with just the shirt off his back. He has used his struggles and life experiences as a catalyst to produce great music. Young Gii released the single “I Need To Smoke” and this was an entire vibe. You may be familiar, or unfamiliar with the mesmerizing record, “La La” by the artist Naughty Boy, a hipped pop song, and one of my favorite tunes! Well what if we told you Young Gii used the melodies of this beat, and completely transformed this into an intriguing, and dope hip-hop record. Using the same melodic arrangement of “La La” in the beat, Young Gii adds his own artistry onto the song which turned out to be a laid-back tune, with an aggressive flow. You’re already feeling the vibe before the song transitions into an entire different beat. Something more dancehall, groovy, while remaining calm. These special transitions gave this song a more stand-out appeal for me as a listener. Young Gii is able to show how multi-faceted he is as an artist, opposed to sticking to the usual predicaments of a single. I loved this aspect of “I Need To Smoke”, and this could for sure hold its own on any popular vibe playlist you have at the moment! So why not discover a new dope artist who has what it takes to be a hitmaker! Listen to "I Need To Smoke" here and get to know more about Young Gii below! Hey, thank you for catching up with us! - Iyysiah Released “Unwelcomed In The Black Sheep”
Beginning with a cinematic introduction, sound fx of the night, and a hauntingly charming initiation, Iyysiah knows how to add a nice suspense to his music. Iyysiah released his single titled “Unwelcomed In The Black Sheep”. With lightly dark elements, I was already intrigued by the artist, and captivated by the song. I began listening to the way he was able to deliver a nice, clean-slated, and smooth-sailing vocal tone that sounded a lot relaxed and enjoyable. With a raspy, brittle texture surrounding the voice, we were more than engrossed by this attractive vocal resonance. It bounced like a trampoline off the designerable beat. Its production, alongside the style of Iyysiah, complemented with one another. I believe Iyysiah would be a groundbreaking artist in today’s generation of rap. He fits right in with the plethroa of hip-hop, yet creates his own sound individual from the rest. Exemplifying hip-hop culture, while remaining authentic is the key to a rapper success, (along with good hits and a personality of course!) Iyysiah seems to have no problem with creating a hit tune. I mean, “Unwelcomed In The Black Sheep” was catchy enough to turn me into a fan! What else could he possibly do? Listen to “Unwelcomed In The Black Sheep” here and get to know more about Iyysiah below! Thank you for sharing your music with BuzzMusic! - Jack Nooney Releases “Get Back in Line”
Jack Nooney is an authentic indie-pop and rock artist who also dabbles into some hip hop from time to time. Jack creates all of his music himself, except when he’s working with his music group called SewerSide. SewerSide is a group formed of talent artists who work together to produce original material while developing their skills in the process. “Get Back in Line” is Jack’s latest release this year. He excellently showcases his talent in this track. Jack amiably sings “You stared me down with that look in your eyes, you could have taken me down by surprise, I walked across the room to come say hi, but then you waved to another guy. Oh no, it happened again, I fell short of what is real.” What I appreciate most about this song is that Jack keeps it 100% real and honest, which gives the listener a sense of comfort and gives them something to relate to, which most artists avoid. Even though in the song he is facing rejection, the beat is light and cheerful which makes it enjoyable for any occasion or mood you may be in. If Jack keeps it up, he may catch the eye of a big star, so stay updated with all of his new releases in the near future! Listen to “Get Back in Line” here and get to know more about Jack Nooney below! What made you first spark interest in singing/song writing? When I first listened to Jon Bellion I got super into production, then a year down the road I was like why not wait for people to rap or song on my beats and just do it myself. Then when I heard other artists like blink-182 it got me more into writing and just kept building from there. What are some artists that you admire that have the same interest in keeping their music authentic? Jon Bellion is one of my biggest inspirations and that’s where a lot of my production sub contentiously comes from. But I always have to change who I listen to to try out new ideas. A lot of my songs are now inspired by Jeremy’s Zucker, I really like his simplistic writing and production. Is there a hidden meaning behind “Get Back in Line”? Get Back In Line was inspired by a song I saw on a website titled, “Take a Number and Get Back In Line. Then the guitar riff was something I came up with one night because I was listening to the Ballad of John and Yoko, which was a heavy inspiration for the song. So I would say no, there is no real hidden meaning behind the song. Can you explain to us a little about your writing process? My writing process varies depending on where I start. Most of the time I will start with the piano or synth and build from there, structuring the beat. Then I will start the writing and recording of the vocals. But recently I have started with just a chord progression, then write the entire song and record a rough take of the verses and choruses. It all comes down to what I have an idea for and what direction I can take it in. What inspires you to create the music that you make? My inspiration comes from all around me but the soundscapes and drums that you hear are heavily based off Jon Bellion and The Beatles. I have been listening to those artists for years now so it really comes from them. I can also get inspired by a song and want to try to create something similar to that song. If I hear a lyric I will base a song off of that one line because it is so interesting. My inspiration is just something that happens and I feel like it is special to what I grew up listening to. What can we expect next from you Jack? Right now I am working on an album titled, “Thoughts Of A Dreamer” which will have 10 tracks including “Get Back In Line”. The album itself is based off of my influences and wanting to get my thoughts out into the world. The album is almost finished I just need to add some final touches and master the whole thing, so it will hopefully be out soon. Other than that I did some features for a rapper I met a while back, and those should also be coming out in the near future. The last thing I am working on is producing an album for a local band, which I am very much looking forward to. - Navan Releases The Powerful Hit “Only Regret”
All the way from Illinois, Navan is an artist, producer, mixing, and mastering engineer who moved to the south side of Chicago at only 6 months old when his parents split up. He spent his elementary years living on both the south, and the west side of inner-city Chicago. Navan self-taught himself the ins and outs of producing, engineering, and crafting music. After high school, he went to community college for a semester before dropping out to pursue music. After losing his full time job, he was living in his car and drove all the way to California by himself. With a compelling background story, Navan is a dream chaser who is ready to share his talent with the world. Navan released an inspirational record titled “Only Regret” with a soaring classic rnb appeal. I loved the melody of the hook. Despite him rapping in the verses, he gave us a nice tune in the hook that has us singing along. The innocence presented in the record is what’s fascinating, considering the fact that the lyrics are more upsetting, depressing, and melancholic. Even the tone of Navan’s voice is more dwell some than delightful, yet- he was able to convey a sense of positivity. This was extremely indulging for me,and all-around powerful. This showed me a side of Navan’s artistry that mostly other artists keep hidden. His unique versatility was what highlighted the entire song for me. With substantial lyrics, and a passionate emotion, Navan is the perfect artist to listen to when you’re needing a good mental vent. “Only Regret” is a multi-faceted, inversive song that doesn’t comply by the standards of a sad hit. Listen to "Only Regret" here and get to know more about Navan below! Hello Navan, welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell our readers about you and your music? I am a producer/engineer/rapper from Chicago, IL living in my car In various areas around Los Angeles. My music is diverse, as I’ve been in multiple environments both in IL and CA. “Only Regret” is a powerful song. Can you tell us the meaning behind the song? How has this song changed your career? Only regret was actually the first song I ever put out in 2016 on Facebook... I later took it down and remixed and mastered, i also started a new SoundCloud and YouTube when I got to California. How challenging was it for you to write this? I wrote the song in about 30 minutes and made a few corrections while recording. Is there any specific arrangement you were aiming for when making “Only Regret” ? Although I produce most of my own material, when I first got started I was mainly using others instrumentals... so the arrangement was set already from the producer that made it; a home studio owner in Waukegan IL... that is also where it was recorded. As far as lyrically, the last verse definitely needed to end the story. I was thinking about it as I wrote it. What’s next for you Navan? Going viral with some of my music is what I’m striving for.
