.Less.Is.More. is an artist based out of Fayetteville, Arkansas and originally from Springfield, Missouri. He has been into music ever since childhood, coming from a musical family, but didn’t really start to take music too seriously until his junior high year of high school. He started writing and recording as .Less.Is.More. in October of 2018, releasing his first four songs as part of his debut EP later that month. On New Year’s Day of 2019, he released his single called “Birds Aren’t Real”, followed by the “While Ü Were Sleeping" EP released just last month in April. .Less.Is.More. also scores short indie films, so get in touch if you’ve got a project that would fit! .Less.Is.More has a new single and the title track of their EP, “While Ü Were Sleeping". This song is interesting, first and foremost, because of the lack of any vocals. This is a refreshing change, and one actually doesn’t miss the vocals since there is enough going on otherwise. The arc of this song spans many different moods, from quiet and contemplative to more raucous and energetic while still maintaining the same overall musical elements. The first part of the song builds slowly, with piano and synths setting the contemplative tone from the beginning. This persists throughout the first half of the song, and then all of a sudden drums and guitars enter increasing the volume by several notches. The synth line from the introduction however remains, linking these two contrasting moods by a musical motif. “.Less.Is.More.” is an aptly named act, as this artist has a simple arrangement that is used to great effect. First of all, can you describe a bit about your musical background and how you got into writing in the first place? My musical background really starts with my family. My dad plays drums and my mom plays a little piano and sings in church every now and then. I've always been around instruments, so when I got pretty serious about music I was comfortable with a drumstick in my hand or sitting behind a piano. I didn't really start writing until pretty recently actually. When I started .Less.Is.More. back in October, it was the first time I had really sat down and wrote music seriously with the intention of other people hearing them. You’re from Springfield, Missouri, but you moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas. How would you compare the music scenes in these two places? As far as comparing the music scenes in Fayetteville and Springfield, that's kind of a tough comparison to make. I was 4 when my family left Springfield so I was never really able to take in the music scene there. My family has bounced around a little bit from Columbia, Missouri to Oklahoma City and Little Rock, Arkansas. But the music scene in Fayetteville is pretty great. It's a big college town so there's always a lot of great concerts around if you are looking for one. We get everybody from Ben Rector to Rich the Kid. It's cool to see all of the diversity in acts here. Who would you describe as your biggest musical influences? When it comes to my biggest influences it's hard to pin down just a few. First and foremost, I would have to say U2. Listening to The Edge play guitar made me want to get serious about my guitar tone in the first place. But being an instrumental, post rock artist, I look up to the guys from Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You a ton. Those two bands really made me want to make instrumental music. I enjoy listening the The 1975 and especially their instrumental tracks like "Please Be Naked" and "12". I also play guitar in church pretty regularly, so a lot of my guitar tone is inspired by what you'd hear from Bethel, Hillsong or Austin Stone. Artists such as Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole have always been something that I've loved to listen to. It's not that their musical stylings show up in my music, but listening to genres outside of what I create is a nice break and helps my creative process. There are so many different styles and genres of music out there that it really is hard to pick just a few people or bands that have inspired me. What is your writing process like? How does your music come together? Typically, my writing process starts on guitar. I'll mess around with a chord progression or riff until I can piece the rest of the song together in my head. At that point I try to record each track and instrument piece by piece. Once I get going, everything comes together pretty naturally. Sometimes it takes a while for inspiration to strike, but when it does it's hard for me to walk away from the project. What can we hope to see from you this year and beyond? The future for .Less.Is.More. is something that I'm pretty excited about. Recently, I've been getting into scoring music for some indie films and doing some commissioned works. I feel like composing instrumental music is a natural progression into film scoring and I've been enjoying that recently. A full length album is in the works for sure. In addition to that, I'm thinking through what a live show for .Less.Is.More. would look like. The idea of sharing my music live something that I take pretty seriously and I want to make sure that I can orchestrate the best show that I possibly can. Kali Katana is a 24 year old music producer who has been making hip-hop and EDM beats for about 4 years now and he doesn’t plan on stopping yet! He currently lives in Kansas at the moment and just got done with one of his EP’s called “Rebirth”. He uses making music as a way to deal with his life pain, emotions and struggles. Kali Katana released his latest single titled “Evolve” and the title says it all! The song evolves through time as it progresses with multiple different transitions and illuminating lush productions. Did you grow up with a heavy music influence? Well originally I was born and raised in Long Beach, California. I loved it there despite some of the things around me. My mom always had my back and made sure that I was raised the right way and never got caught up in the craziness of LBC. One main reason why I'm in Kansas now is because I needed to restart my life especially after everything I went through in my life in California. While in California I definitely had a huge music influence because its home to gangster rap. From Dre, Ice Cube, Snoop, Eazy E, etc. I also had a huge rock interest because of my parents. Their was always Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Peter Frampton, and KISS playing around my house on a daily basis. Tell us a little bit about your EP “Rebirth” and how it represents you as an artist!? REBIRTH is my debut EP as an EDM artist and it means a lot to me because it means a transformation within myself. Every single song from "Real" to "Healed" represents a step in the human growth process and with me. It shows my emotional side of producing that I was ready to show people and I hope my transformation within myself shows people that its ok to grow and thats its ok to express yourself in any shape or form despite judgement from outside world. What was the inspiration behind the creation of “Evolve”? Evolve was one of my favorite tracks to make because it was a huge step in my growth. This song showed me that now that I am noticing and discovering things within myself, its time to move forward and grow from there. The evolution of the mind is so key in today's society and without that we would all stay the same and nothing would ever improve. What are some challenges you’ve faced in the making of “Evolve”? The challenges I had was trying to make sure the audience felt was I trying to portray in Evolve. The hook talks about "bringing me out the darkness" which means to me that you need to bring yourself out of the negative depths of the human consciousness in order to see Mother Gaia for who she is. I hope people feel that because thats definitely what I felt. What’s next for you? I know whats next for me and thats to continue to put positive frequencies in my music and to help heal the world. I want to show the next generation that now is the time to show the world true love through music and any other art form. Sky is not the limit for me and it shouldn't be for anybody else. All I can do is keep doing what I can on my part and continue to grow myself within my craft. $amad (born Samad Folami) is a hip hop artist from Lagos, Nigeria. $amad is a young artist at just 19 years of age. Currently, he is attending school in Vancouver while pursuing his goals in the music industry and pursuing his craft. $amad has released a new single called “Guapanese”. This song is a collaborative effort featuring V3nic3. This single is introduced by a well crafted synth line that sparks a melancholic mood. Shortly thereafter, the vocals and beat enter and introduce a much more upbeat groove. The lyrics themselves carry the tune with a great rhythmic intensity. The beat keeps the the song grounded and is the perfect backdrop to the complexity of the lyrics. V3nic3 provides a good amount of variety throughout the song, trading back and forth with $amad in an organic way. The production value and maturity of the songwriting is very high, which is impressive considering that this artist is only 19 years of age. Funny it all started with a verse I heard from Joey badass on this song by Mac Miller(RIP) The verse was too hard, the bars were were crazy and it just really inspired me to do this and express myself through music and this all started back in 2015 back home. You’re from Lagos, Nigeria. How would you describe the overall music scene there? How does it compare to the music scene in Vancouver, where you are currently studying? The music scene back home is so different and it literally on it own wave with Afrobeats which is amazing with the culture I really like the sounds back home, compared to the scene in Vancouver it’s so different Vancouver has more of the emo rap and trap/hip hop sound which is more of what I do but still repping where I’m from, been trying to work on some afrotrap songs so I might drop something in the future. What is your writing process like? How do you write your music and put it all together? Honestly writing has gotten easy for me over time because when I first started I used to write a lot of verses and freestyle a lot so nowadays when I’m writing a song I listen to the beat multiple times you know to get my flow then I just write what I’m feeling or what’s going on around me at that time in my life depending on what the song is about and cheetah does his magic with the mixing. Who would you say your biggest musical influences are? Honestly, I have numerous influences like Joey Badass, Big Sean, 21savage, Travis Scott but I think my biggest influence is Kanye West, the mans just a genius. What can we hope to see from you in the near future? This year I just want to release a lot of music, a lot of singles and at the End of the year I might drop a 4-5 track EP to cap it off, Yh but for now my next track is gonna be CINDERELLA (ft. This New Light is a recently formed contemporary songwriting group based in Brisbane, Australia. Creating vibrant and cinematic folk songs, this project has earned a small but devoted following in Brisbane. Led by Samuel Ayling, this group is gaining momentum and have played some incredibly exciting shows. They are excited for 2019 as it will bring yet more releases and a continuation of their sound with the upgrades that experience brings. “The Mountains” is a new single from This New Light’s debut EP. The intro is a simple and contemplative acoustic guitar, eventually transforming into a much more rhythmic groove. The vocals that enter shortly thereafter are soothing and well produced. The acoustic guitar tracks are intricate, rhythmic, and play off each other in an effective way. This song’s overall mood is contemplative, relaxing and adventurous. In general, “The Mountains” is great as a result of it’s slow build, introducing new elements as the song goes on in a tasteful and measured way. Gradually introduced is a snare drum, hand claps, and even a brass section towards the end. The chorus itself is developed this way, with each recurring chorus introducing new elements. This demonstrates a great sense of taste as none of the additions of these instruments gets in the way of the overall arc of the song. This New Light is a recently formed music project that is still defining itself as we go along. About a year ago, Tom and I were just two mates who played the odd cover gig together and enjoyed a good late-night jam sesh wherever we found ourselves. At the time, we were both at university; Tom had begun his journey in the realm of medical studies, and I had almost completed my Bachelor of Music majoring in Jazz. Towards the end of my degree, I got a little bit more serious about the idea of starting a music project, and began writing originals for what would later become our debut EP. The process was honestly a little messy, as I often found myself jumping ahead most of the time and leaving Tom out of the loop. We’ve realised now this was due to a bit of miscommunication regarding the direction of the project. But we eventually finished the EP and were super pumped to play our first show at the Milk Factory (which almost sold out!).It’s also been amazing to involve some other mates in the gigging process who have really lifted the sound of our live shows. We’ve actually managed to play every gig with a different band set up. It’s actually so fun! Currently, we’re revising what the project really looks like, and this has resulted in Tom stepping back from his position at the forefront of this project. What was previously marketed as a duo, will now look more like an artist project, where Tom and the other lads will predominantly appear for live performances. How would you describe the music scene in Brisbane and in Australia in general? It’s really difficult to say, as we’ve only just started our journey with this project. So far, we’ve been fortunate enough to open for some great artists like Winterbourne and Patrick James. These are the kind of gigs that really grow our fan base, we’re hoping to lock in more like this. Being independent, I’m finding it quite challenging to source new gigs and venues where we can perform, but I know it’s all part of the journey. It’s always about who you know. Maybe in 12 months or so, check back with us as to how we’re going! What is your writing process like? How does your music come together? As I’m sure many artists would say, it changes each time and never quite looks the same. The songs that we released on our new EP initially came together fairly quickly. I’d often bring an idea to Tom and we’d flesh it out over a few days. But I’ve come to realise that I’m a bit of a perfectionist, meaning I spent another 4-6months on those songs refining the structure and lyrics. Some songs were a real hard slog, others seemed polished enough from the start. Again, every song on that record came together differently, so I wouldn’t really say there has been a typical writing process. From the writing stage, I’d then be the one to lay the track down into Logic, writing parts for each of the songs. This is a process I’m still really new to. I only got Logic late in 2018, and I’ve slowly been figuring out how to use it. Considering Logic was such a foreign tool then, I’m pretty stoked that our first EP (self-produced) has received a really positive response! Who would you say your biggest collective musical influences are? Being a folk nut, I’d probably say artists like Mumford & Sons, Ben Howard, Bear’s Den, Dustin Tebutt, Hollow Coves, Novo Amor, Rayland Baxter, The Paper Kites & Alexander Biggs, to name a few. (Honestly, I could go on, but it’s embarrassing how nerdy I get when it comes to music). But I really just appreciate any music that stands for itself; the kind of music that is never really seeking the biggest stage, provided that it’s “sound" stays true to itself. I really respect artists and bands who write music that they love. I think that says volumes. Generally though, to answer your question, any artist who is in the broader folk and alternative genre, I love. What can we hope to see from you in 2019 and beyond? Really good question. It’s something that I’ve been asking myself a lot recently. As I’m still really new to the music industry, I’m not 100% sure. I’m learning as a go. But to give you something tangible, I think another EP is definitely on the cards. I’ve already written 5 new songs that I’d love to work on with a local producer. I think the songs are really special, and they have gone down well with audiences when we’ve played them live. Although, I’m not too sure I could say when exactly the EP is set to drop. On the performing side of things, we’re just hoping to lock in more gigs supporting awesome bands. I’ve been trying recently to get in touch with touring artists who are visiting Brisbane. The support positions would be great, but unfortunately the bigger artists often confirm support acts before they announce their tours. I’d also love to get a few spots at some music festivals this year, but that’s easier said the done. Overall, we’re really trying to do anything and everything we can to get our music and name out there. That’s going to look different every time, but that’s all part of the fun! Kyle Blitch is a singer and songwriter based out of Los Angeles, California. He has been a cheerleading music producer for over a decade. After years of being behind the music, Kyle decided to break out into the dance music world with the release of his first single. Kyle’s background in gymnastics, cheerleading and dance has shaped the sound of his music and his approach as an artist and performer. Kyle’s intent behind is music is simple: to get you up and dancing. “No Drama” is a brand new single released by Kyle Blitch. True to Blitch’s description of his own music, this single is an up-tempo dance tune that will instantly have you turning up your stereo. The listener is instantly hit with a beat and vocals that are reminiscent of dance music from the 90s, yet there is an unmistakable modern feel to every aspect of this song. The positive vibes are clear and permeate throughout this song, washing away negativity and people that bring it to the table. I was always singing/dancing to all types of music growing up, but I started making my own music when I got into cheerleading at 15. I was obsessed with the (High Energy) music that was used, so I started producing cheerleading mixes for my own individual competitions. Gradually, a lot of people began reaching out to me for music, so I created my company Custom Grooves. I now do custom Cheerleading music for athletes all over the World. As a resident of Los Angeles, how would you describe the music scene there? The music scene in Los Angeles is very diverse. You can see any genre of music your heart desires, its awesome! Also, the karaoke scene tends to get very competitive which is always fun to go watch :) You’ve definitely got the dance elements nailed in your new single, “No Drama”. Who would you say your biggest influences are in the dance genre? My biggest Dance influencer would be David Guetta. He continues to drop amazing songs year after year, and I would love to work with him one day. Other influencers I have are Steve Aoki, A-Trak, Matoma, Kygo, and of course, the legendary RuPaul. What does your writing process look like, and how does a song like this come together from start to finish? I'm actually quite a fast writer, I try not to think too much, and just let the words flow out of me. For this particular song, I collaborated with my good friends over at Wiidope. They sent me over the melody, I loved it! and had it written in an hour :) I normally do the melodies myself, but it's just so much more exciting to collaborate with other artists on a project. The Aromantics are collectively a three-piece band from South Central Los Angeles formed in September 2017. The band consists of Luis Zavala (Bass), Jesus Sanchez (Guitar) and Andrew Trujillo (Drums). Some of their music influences include artists like Chon, 21 Pilots, and Motown. Hello, My name is Jesus Sanchez and I am the Lead Guitarist/ Songwriter for the Aromantics. I have been playing my instrument for about four years now. I recently got into doing vocals for the band which is something still fairly new to me but it is fun and challenging. Some of my main influences involve bands like Chon, Billy Talent, The Smiths, and The Cure. Those are bands that have impacted my life forever. I also spend most of my time collecting records and skateboarding whenever I have the opportunity since I am always a busy bee. Here is one fact I will you about myself is that I have a phobia against spiders I mean they are creepy creatures. I remember when I first met Andrew back in the day when I was in High School because of my friend Daniel who had contact with him. One day I decided to ask Daniel if he knew any drummers and surprisingly it happened to be Andrew Trujillo which then led me to get to know him and jam at his garage. Luis is a childhood friends I have known for longest time and he become the bassist when I asked him if wanted to join the band. My name is Andrew Trujillo and I am the drummer of The Aromantics. I first met Jesus back in 2017 I believe and we would at first just jam out until he thought the idea of making a band, before The Aromantics.After meeting jesus Sanchez, he knew a bassist that can help us bring these songs to life! That bassist is Luis Zavala. Hello everyone, my name is Luis Zavala and I’m the bassist for the band The Aromantics. The band project idea first initiated between Jesus (Guitar) and Andrew (Drums). Not much time passed by when they both came to realize that they needed a bassist for their new band project. My childhood family friend Jesus came to me in the late summer of 2017 and asked if I wanted to join his musical journey alongside his friend Andrew, which at the time I did not know Andrew. I immediately notified Jesus in that I was 110 percent in on the band project idea but that I had profound musical restrictions, that is, I did not know any music theory. Yes, that means I didn’t know my scales! Having little experience on bass from doing simple Christian Rock and non-worship Rock music covers using Tabs. I met Andrew in September 2017 which was the same time we first all had our first official band rehearsal and since that moment, I have become good friends with Andrew. Have you guys ever thought of adding a vocalist to the team? How do you manage to tell a story in your music without lyrics? We did yes, but sometimes we just keep writing instrumentals up until we started writing our own lyrics and jesus volunteered to take a stand for vocals. Well, we all put our emotions towards the band and the music, so whatever we come out with ideas that may or may not work, we manage to make it a story. What was the overall theme behind “Amorphous”? When we wrote Amorphous we really did not know what we were aiming for but it just happened to be one of the best songs we ever wrote. Maybe trying to make this record the most fun, sounding, chill, exciting music that no one's heard of. Some challenges I personally faced was having to learn music theory. I decided to learn music theory through YouTube videos and online articles which I knew was necessary if I wanted to contribute original musical ideas to the band. We are an Alt- Rock trio based out of Los Angeles California. Through thick and thin and the the struggle of life, we manage to keep this train moving forward. We got Kev O’Brien on Vocals and Guitar, Zach Gaston on Bass and Patricia Teles on the drums. We loved your hard rocking track Day Dream, the lyrics are very heart felt. Can you tell us the meaning of the song? The meaning behind the song is about coming out of a struggle. LA can really take a toll on your mind and body. You might think you get ahead but then you fall two steps behind. Day Dream is about gaining the two extra steps and coming out on top. What about the LA music scene impacts your music creation? We are surrounded by amazing bands and musicians. It helps to go out to see local shows and see all the new art that is being created. We get inspired by new ideas just by walking into a venue. What does your creative process look like? We start with a skeleton of a song. Normally guitar and vocals and then end up building it from there. We work hard on bringing our ideas to life in rehearsal and then to our audience. There is no better feeling then looking out to the crowd and watching people “feel” what you created. What’s next on the horizon for you as a band? The next thing we have planned is a music video for “Day Dream”. Born in the small town of Ninety-Six, South Carolina, Arvie Bennett Jr. started from humble beginnings. Money was tight but Arvie inherited things more precious than money.. A strong faith in God, undying resilience in the face of pain, and a passion for life’s possibilities. The country singer/songwriter started out singing in choir which led to his journey into the music industry. He travelled to Nashville, Tennessee where he experienced the high’s and low’s of the industry, as every musician does. In 2008, Arvie met his beautiful wife Bunny and released his second solo project, That's Just Me, this gained him major success, many releases and every a band for a period of 6 years and many events and performances. In October 2018, Arvie, now a solo-artist, signed a recording contract with Winter Records-Nashville. He immediately went into Yellow Hammer Studios and recorded “Just A Cowboy”, a six-song EP of original music. The single “Just A Cowboy” is a truthful motif from the heart. Arvie Bennett Jr’s vulnerability shines through in the most beautiful way. The lyricism and meaning behind the song lay a powerful foundation for the precise acoustics and melody. The song “Just A Cowboy” is about staying true to who you are and Arvie stays true to that theme throughout the track. Hello Arvie, we love your single “Just A Cowboy”. What inspired you to write it? "Just A Cowboy" was written almost 10 years ago and has been a fan favorite over the years. I believe that each of us struggle with certain parts of our personality that we don't like or that we wish we could eradicate from our lives. For me, my personal struggle is with OCD and Depression. With the month of May being Mental Health Awareness Month I thought this would be an awesome opportunity to share a song that deals with the constant mental struggle that I face. The struggle between trying to be the person I want to be and the person my mind tries to convince me that I am. "Just A Cowboy" chronicles that journey. What brought you to country music? I was born to teen parents in the small town of Ninety-Six, South Carolina. My dad was nineteen and my mom was sixteen and they had to work their fingers to the bone just to support us. So, I spent most of my time with my grandparents who lived on a small farm just outside of town. It was there that my love for the country lifestyle developed. As they say, I learned to rope and ride and shoveled a lot of crap over the years. Country music was as natural to me as breathing because it spoke of the life that I lived everyday. What do you think is the best trend in country music right now? I love all styles and genres of music, so I am not one of those that says country music needs to get back to its roots. I believe music is an expression of the individual artist and as long as you are true to yourself then no one has a right to tell you how to produce your music. With that said, I really like some of the "Not-So-Famous" guys that around now...Cody Jinks, Ryan Bingham, and Tyler Childers. They really stay true to themselves. Who are your musical influences? My influences range from George Jones to Geto Boyz.  I listened to it all coming up.  My dad was a football and baseball coach so we moved a few times to different places with vastly different cultures.  Each culture introduced me to a new and different style of music.  I can remember "beat-boxing" and rapping with some of my teammates on the way to football/baseball games on the back of the bus.  I was blessed to be influenced by every genre of music. What’s your live performance and stage presence like? I am a storyteller. I like for my audience to really get to know me throughout the night, to know my pain, my struggles, my strengths, and my weaknesses. I want them to walk away feeling like they are my friends and not just my fans. I always say that I create family not fans! Rebounder is the project of the NYC native, vocalist, and producer, Dylan Chenfield. With musical influences including Arctic monkeys and Joji, Rebounder released his debut track “Japanese Posters” earlier this year, receiving over 200,000 plays on Spotify and praise from Pigeons & Planes, Milk, and Lyrical Lemonade. Rebounder released his latest single titled “Meet Me At The Bar” and it was a great mix of alternative and soft rock. What I loved most about this song was the pretty melody that was delivered. It sort of gave me cafe vibes. The entire aesthetic of “Meet Me At The Bar” was relaxing, and soothing. Not only that, but it gave me a transporting vibe into a different era and generation. For me, the song felt classic alongside timeless. I was able to place myself in a different environmental setting and time period while listening to this refreshing record. The song was just mesmerizing for me as a listener. The progressive rock elements and gorgeous chords from the instruments were absorbing. Rebounder gives his listener the true indie-alternative feeling and it encourages you to want to watch them live. The rebounder isn’t unfamiliar with delivering an exciting live show either! I had a bad injury, and started recording a lot of songs while I was laid up. I didn’t want the name of the project to be my own, as a casual knicks fan it just felt like what it should be. How does “Meet Me At The Bar” differentiate from “Japanese Posters”? “Meet Me At The Bar” is on the more somber side. Although it has drums and moves quick, I would still call it a ballad because of its repeating, building choruses. I think its a bit more for the moonlight. Japanese Posters is a good time one for a few hours prior, that 8pm to midnight slot. What are some differences in your music style since your first release? I think the newer stuff has a bit more of a groove to it, a bit more dancey, if thats a word. What was it like supporting bands like The Neighborhood and Porches - that's amazing! That was super cool. Those guys are really nice for having me. Both amazing acts to watch live. I just caught Jesse’s solo tour last week in New York and he killed it. What can we expect next from you? Do you have any upcoming performances?
