- Expect The Unexpected With Broey!
Joe Montaro, who goes by the stage name Broey, is from the city of Scranton, PA. He’s a 23 year old music fanatic. A self-taught instrumentalist, he’s been playing music for about 13 years now! In his teens he began messing around a lot with Garageband on his mac and then eventually led himself into becoming more serious about production. After listening to pop music and some hip-hop, he grew tired of hearing the typical chord-progressions and themes within the music which evoked the thought of him doing something that hasn’t been done yet. He tries to remember that the best songs are the ones that hasn’t been made yet, so why not make them? Captured your attention yet? Are you as intrigued as we were!? Hopefully so Broey released his single titled “Reverie” that begins with a unique chord placing the foundation of the song. Reverie is like entering a hallway with many turns and not knowing what’s at the corner of each turn. It’s like while listening you become so infatuated with how unpredictable everything is. You never know where the song will take you next or what element you’re about to be surprised by at the shifting corner of a chord. Broey still curated this saturated atmosphere in the song which makes you think of the color blue, ocean breezes, and relaxing images that brings a sense of serenity and calmness. Broey spent meticulous time crafting a song that mastered the art of production and gave us iconic transitions alongside transporting twists and turns that opened up a new dimension to the song in this trailblazing, lyric-less hit! Check out "Reverie" here. Read more about Broey in our exclusive below! Hi there! Welcome to BuzzMusic, we're happy to be talking with you! Can you introduce yourself to our readers? Surely. My name is Joe Montaro, but my friends like to call me broey. I’m an independent artist from Scranton, PA who specializes in all chill things. I’m a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and have been playing music for almost 15 years! I’ve really only begun to get serious with my own music production in this last year and released my first EP, “KUDOS”, in November of 2018. Since then I have released 2 additional EPs, a number of singles, and a full-length Album all within a few months of each other. Additionally, I’m a full-time college student studying human services and will be graduating in May of this year! Tell us about your single “Reverie”, what was the motive and vision behind this song? Just like the majority of my tracks, Reverie is a representation of what I was feeling on the day that began to work on it. I generally don’t go into my sessions with anything specific in mind, just emotions and feelings. I usually find my sounds and try to match the energy of the sound. Not having a vision allows me to be challenged and perhaps take a path that I normally wouldn’t think of taking. This track though took me a while to find a solid direction, because I knew that it had the potential to be special. It’s dreamy and airy vibe was just something so pleasing to me. It took me to a place that made me feel just right and I knew that it would give others the same feeling. I wanted this track to be able to take people to the place that makes them feel just right too. If you could add any vocalist to this record who would you select and why!? Honestly, I don’t think I would want any vocals on this track. None of my tracks have vocals because words often get in the way. I want people to listen and feel, and like I just mentioned before, to be taken to that special place that is exclusively unique to them. I am very interested in working with other vocalists though for sure. I have a bunch of tracks in my archives that are just waiting for vocals that I know I’ll never get around to writing, but I love doing collabs and working with other artists. That’s part of the reason I’m interested in making music in the first place because it allows you to meet a lot of cool people. So, any vocalists interested in making a track and maybe selling one million records, by all means, hit me up… we’ll make it work! How does “Reverie” differ from your other release “Muse” ? Reverie and Muse to me are more similar than they are different. In terms of instrumentation, Muse has some vocal chops as a focal point whereas Reverie has some melty guitar licks. I believed they shared the same type of energy-dreamy (hence the EP name “Daydreams”). Muse also begins with a lo-fi type vibe before it flourishes into what some would consider the drop. Most people will only listen to the first 15 seconds of Muse and get turned off, but it isn’t until about 50 seconds in where every instrument comes in together. I do personally feel that the tracks blend together nicely in terms of theme for the EP though. What’s next for you? What’s next for me is to just to keep living life and making and sharing new music along the way. I’m working on some new stuff currently and hope to be able to release a new project before the summer starts. I’m very interested to see where my music endeavors will take me, but for now, I just have to keep moving forward. I’m beyond grateful for those who support me and are coming along for the ride! Hopefully, after reading this it will encourage others to tag along also. Connect with Broey on social media! Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
- Trey Armstrong Compells Us With His Lyricism In His Latest “February”
Originally from Pensacola, Florida Trey Armstrong is a Charlotte native whose been passionate about music ever since his childhood. Influenced by many great artists such as Nas, Tupac, Andre 3000 and J. Cole has pursued his infatuation for music. During his second year of school he released his first mixtape “The Weekend I Forgot To Mention” two years later, he released an EP titled “Self-esteem: A February Story”. One noticeable song from the album titled “February” begins with a melodic introduction that showcases strong piano keys and acoustic elements. Similar to the beats of those strong lyrical artists like his influences, Trey had this raw and uncut flow with an authentic delivery. Trey embodies what I believe an MC should embody and that’s authenticity, story-telling and an entire well executed song that still captures your attention with an enticing hook. “February” possesses all these qualities with a nice development from the beginning to the end. Trey Armstrong reminds me a lot of J. Cole” due to his ability to capture you and move you in a winding direction with his music. Another favorite about this record was how the lyrics felt like a personal reflection of the artist which is extremely awesome to me. I love when rappers aren’t afraid to show the real behind hip-hop by allowing you in on who they are and what they view. Trey has the potential to be the next biggest artist in the game! Listen to "February" here and get to know more about Trey Armstrong in our interview below! Hey! Can you tell our readers a little about yourself? I was born in Pensacola, FL but grew up in Charlotte,NC. Been doing music since about fourteen seriously but have also wanted to pursue a career in music. I found music to be a gateway to express things that are difficult to explain to people. Growing up Micheal Jackson was my favorite artist before I got into rap. When I finally fell in love with Hip-Hop I think 2pac was the artist that made me enjoy the creative mind side to music, he could literally give you any type of vibe you were feeling. Other artist has definitely had an impact on me as well two artist I can listen to at anytime of the day is Andre 3000 and J.Cole both sit in my Top 5 greatest of all time. Though I went to college for business it was to further push the music. Also I have been working on a brand called FreeSense, which is a beacon for people to take a chance and do what they love to do in order to set their souls free. We get so consumed by working and making money that we let the things we love disappear into just distant memories. As a kid that’s one thing I noticed about the adults around me they had given up on doing what they love for something they would chase unhappily. How do you elevate yourself with every mixtape you release? Well each project is different and, for me they take on different vibes. My earlier projects were more so like kick back chill, my recent project “Notice” was more of a let’s give them something that can actually keep going back too, something timeless. Tell us about your debut album “Notice”. What are some of your personal favorite songs off the project? The album is a product of my evolution, the more you work at something the better you get and that’s what I feel happened on this project, I got better. I don’t just mean better at rapping but as a artist overall, breaking out of the box more, trying different sounds and flows. As you dive into the first track on the album, It’s me explaining that I started with no flow, no rhythm, or style but I wanted it so bad that it developed over time. The album can be called my statement to the world that I’m going to keep making this music until you sing along. Because that’s what most people want anyway is to be apart of the art or feel apart of it. As far as favorite songs on the album I honestly rock with all of the songs heavy, but if I had to choose it would be February, Typical, Sins of the Father, Interested, and idols. These tracks I feel stood out the most as far as passion and artistry. These are also the tracks getting the most plays. What’s the major difference between “Notice” and your first mixtape? There are a few differences between the two, my first project was like a practice run for me. It was fun, I was in my second year at A&T and I wanted to drop something for people to hear but also could relate too. Production is a key difference though, I been working with the same producer/engineer since the 10th grade so as we both grew our music also evolved. I feel on notice I was more relaxed and comfortable with my ability as an Artist. All the songs on both projects are still good but you can hear the progression in each bar. “February” is a dope song! What inspired you to write this? Honestly it was my progression that inspired the song, the fact that I came from no talent whatsoever. I just had love for the art and the determination to continue producing and be listened too. It was me standing at the highest mountain saying I’m me, rock with me or not I’m not gonna change me. What’s next for you? More music is definitely in the works, maybe a new project by the end of summer. Working on Moves to do a few shows and expand my brand. Really just continuing to work and learn to be a better artist and find ways to give back. - Dead Is The New Black Released Their Debut Album “Paint The Walls”
Dead Is The New Black is a band that consists of longtime friends Michael Caver, Kristi Love, and Brin Stephens. They formed in 2018 and merged together a hip/hop and rock fusion. They released their debut album titled “Paint The Walls” and we were HERE for it. In all honesty, we had no idea what to expect going in. They gave us a rock n roll introduction with an energetic, fast-paced mesh of chaotic electric guitar chords and spectacular drumming! This lightly-dark but bold initiation captures your attention and leaves you wondering what’s to come. Dead Is The New Black expresses the idea of “Authentic” in the most notable fashion. While expecting gritty and foghorn loud vocals, instead you receive a rap flow delivering a hip-hop bubble around the hard-rock song. After that killer intro, we were already captured in the music and they surprised us once again with the next song “Hunt Me Down”. Hunt Me Down had an entirely different direction than the opening of the album. The song feels more mysterious and we can credit the vocalist’s hauntingly prepossessing vocals. While she creates a sensual aura with her chilling vocals, the rapper begins to deliver yet another solid and clean-slated flow. The next song to transition into the album “Make It Out Alive” shows another characteristic to the album we haven’t seen yet. The incorporation of a more jazz-like groove with electronic EDM elements being hinted throughout the instrumental break, Dead Is The New Black shows us they are capable of more than we could have ever hoped for, and boy do they prove it. “Spinning World” showcases more the hip-hop side to Dead Is The New Black with this funky, old-school vibe fused with multi-colored synths and brash guitar strings. By this point of the album, you're ready to expect the unexpected. You have no clue what’s coming next and we loved that! It’s the entire mysterious feel of the band and not knowing what’s to come but preparing yourself for what’s to come. “Fifty Shades Of You” was an eerily addictive song that begins with the rap flow floating on top of a cinematic sound effect in which fabricates the idiosyncratic energy of the song. The incredible vocals complete the entire “weird” of fifty shades of you. But who said weird wasn’t a good thing? A highly noticeable song on this album, “Waste Away” felt like an progressive-rock n roll classic and we loved every minute of it! Especially the big belted delivery by the vocalist that hits you like a wrecking ball in the beginning. Conveying the passion and emotion behind the song! The next song we enjoyed thoroughly. “Guilt” had us focused in on the lyrics with it’s retro image being presented through the music. The closing song of the album was highly dope because it reminded me a lot of the opening piece. They caught us in the beginning with their exhilarating introduction and then ending it off with a invigorating, up-tempo closing with a strong bass moving the song in a radical direction and muffled vocals adding detail to the dimension. From start to finish you become as one with Dead Is The New Black, and by the time the album is finished you’re thirsting for more. Dead Is The New Black will be performing around Southern California soon so if you become infatuated with the music and would like to hear them live feel free to connect yourself with the band and be on the lookout! Listen to a single off the new album here. Read more about this ground breaking band in our interview below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you please tell our readers a little about yourselves? Dead Is The New Black is a hip hop act from Irvine California with heavy rock and electronic influences. The group currently consists of lead vocalist and front man Brin Stephens, long time collaborator Michael Caver and features Kristi Love on supporting vocals. We formed in late 2018 from former band Skinperiod taking the music in more of a hip hop direction. Tell us about the album “Paint The Walls” and how the title reflects the theme of the album. Paint The Walls is a collection of songs written over a couple years and the feeling and thoughts that inspire the music for the most part feels stuck in our heads when you don't have many outlets. With this release we hope to "paint the walls" as to say with our thoughts and ideas that we express in the form of music. It taps into a darker side of ourselves but the point is that it's all open for display. What are some of your personal favorite songs off your own album “Paint The Walls”? Brin: I think my favorite song on this album is Fifty Shades of You. Mike and myself wrote the lyrics together and Kristi sang her part exactly the way we were looking for. There was a lot of collaboration in the creation of this track which makes it more enjoyable for me upon re-listening. Mike: I'd have to say Spinning World mainly because of how many places it goes. The guitar work is A1. The almost cheese rap in the beginning makes me laugh and sets the tone, I love the lines, "When everybody runs away, prays to God to save the day, take my hand and stay with me and let come whatever may..." Vocal layering is dope. It's fun and atmospheric. What are some challenges you’ve discovered in creating this album? The biggest challenge was accepting that everybody has different ears and everybody will hear this album differently. We definitely have a vision and we are both anxious and excited for people to discover what we are about and the musical ideas we enjoying projecting into the world. What do you hope your fans get out of your new album "Paint The Walls"? We hope that you find at least 1 song you really enjoy listening to. Something you would share with a friend, play on your way to work, if you're in a down mood or maybe we inspire you to make your own music or even learn to play the parts yourself at home. Spread the love! What can we expect next! Any news you'd like to share with us? Our first show is a Battle of the Bands April 20th at California Sound Studios in Lake Forest and if you're in the orange county area we will be doing shows here and there this summer. Listen to “BlackPink’s DDU-DU-DDU-Du- Remix” here and get to know TINC in our interview below! Hi TINC! Great to chat with you! can you tell us a bit about yourself? Hello! I’m Tinc, and I’m a Singaporean DJ! I’ve been a DJ for almost a decade now and it has been an amazing journey thus far. Even before I ventured into electronic music and DJ-ing, I took an interest in songwriting and music since I was 6! I also had the chance to play in a live band once. These musical experiences made me the person I am today. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else! Without music, life has no meaning. What is the most challenging aspect of DJing? When I spin, I truly want to bring joy and happiness to every single person in the room. But, the reality is you can’t always please everyone. Everyone’s got their own musical tastes. It’s also an undeniable fact that, as a DJ, I’ve got to strike a careful balance between fulfilling my clients’ requests, adapting to the live crowd’s reactions, and sticking to my own style as well. It’s a very dynamic process. Thankfully, nine times out of ten, I always end my set feeling happy that most people leave feeling great! It’s one of the greatest reasons why I love my job. Why did you select Blackpink’s single to remix? What captured your attention about the song? Apart from wanting to keep things relatable and fun, I am a big advocate of feminism and empowering women. To me, Blackpink embodies a lot of what I myself believe in. They’re a 4-women strong group with emboldening lyrics and lots of attitude. It’s quite refreshing, coming from the K-Pop industry that tends to portray women in a certain way. Plus, the song’s really fun and catchy. So I just really wanted to give a remix a try! How do you find balance in keeping the original song’s style yet shaping it into a cool remix? Blackpink fans (BLINK) are very loyal to the group’s sound. And I wanted to do it justice. So, I was listening to the song on repeat for a few days, debating over how I could switch things up while keeping the original feel intact. I decided to go for the sound I enjoy the most – which is bass trap. But at the same time, I kept in all the crucial parts of the song. I’m really happy to see comments coming in from Blackpink fans across the world, telling me they enjoyed my remix! It’s an honour that they felt I did justice to their favourite group with my own vibes added in! I know it means a lot to them, and so, it means a lot to me as well. What's next for you through 2019? 2019 is gonna be the Year of TINCNation! I was going through a terrible burn out for quite some time, prior to now. I just felt totally drained and unmotivated. But right now, I’m just so excited and feeling totally refreshed! It feels like I can finally share everything I’ve held in for the past 2 years. It wake up every day feeling excited to get started. I’ve got lots of brand-new ideas, motivation, and energy – and I’m ready to blast everything out into the world! I’m challenging myself now and plan to release a new remix every month or so, just to keep focusing on improving myself. I’m also excited to be touring in Shanghai, Guang Zhou, and Singapore soon! I’m also planning on adding more countries to visit and perform in. My ultimate goal is to focus on self-improvement and going above and beyond my safe zone to redefine myself as a DJ, musician, and creative person. Most of all, I’m really grateful for the new fans I’ve made – and the old ones I’ve reconnected with. They’ve been extremely supportive and kind, and I feel more connected with them then ever before. 2019 has been great so far – and the rest of the year is going to be blast! Also, thank you for asking me to do this interview. I’m always grateful when my music helps people connect from all over the world. Hello, LA and the rest of the world! I’ll see you soon! Almost always involves food, facts! I grew up listening to Paramore and fell in love with Hayley Williams! So if it’s not from anime, then I get my crazy ideas with some influence from Hayley. My hair is a big example of that. Who are your biggest influences? How have they helped shape your sound and your career in the music industry? Hayley Williams, Billie Eilish, Lil Uzi, and Three Days Grace impacted not only my career, but my life as I continue to grow as a person. My Uncle, I would say has had the biggest influence on my career. He got me into playing piano and getting into the studio. What's next for you through 2019? Work. This is a job that if you love it, then it no longer becomes a job. Doing what you love is just part of life. 7thWardRob is an american rapper who hails all the way from New Orleans. He’s an inspirational artist who knows how to bring multiple dimensions to his music from soft and melodic to grimy and aggressive with lyrics that breathes life into the song. He released his latest project titled “Up Early, Vol 2” which is a 7 track tape that will take you into an unforgettable hip hop experience that’s going to have you wanting to listen over and over again! We listened to “Up Early, Vol 2” and one notable song off the super dope album was the opening introduction to the EP titled “Phone Blazing” and it was a great invitation to the album. It begins with a phone call sounding establishment before the transcending hook transports you into the music with a catchy hook and oddly riveting vocals. “Phone Blazing” lyrics are so melodious it makes the perfect radio hit. My brother overheard me listening to this record and he found himself vibing alongside the hook which indicated to me that “Phone Blazing” could easily attract a crowd of listeners. It’s the perfect song to play in the car, around other people, or even at a party. The way Rob was able to execute this song and place it numerically in the beginning of his album is a reflection of his artistic intelligence and high caliber of creativity as a musician. We’re sure this isn’t the last time we will hear about 7thWardRob. Check out "Phone Blazing" here. Exclusive interview with 7thWardRob below! Hello! Can you tell our readers about you and your music? To start I am from New Orleans and I have been rapping since I was 13. I just recently started seeking constructive feedback and receiving positive affirmations about my music and that pushed me to take it more serious. Tell us about your Album Up Early Vol 2. - What our listeners can expect from it? Up Early Vol. 2 is a calibration of great beats and thoughts that surfaced from the good times to the bad times and everything in between. Every song has it’s own vibe so you get a different feeling from each song. “Phone Blazing” was a dope song. Can you tell us the meaning behind it? It tells a story of a person who begins selling drugs because it seem like the only definite way to beat financial struggles in the hood. How someone could become successful and still risk dying trying to make money doing something illegal. It was my way of influencing people to openly weight the consequences that are easily over looked or excepted in that life style. Can you tell us about your writing process? Do you feel this comes natural? I have many different ways of writing so I can’t say I just do one thing or the other I really just write about how I feel and everything going on around me and yes it comes pretty natural. What can our readers expect next from you? I have a lot of songs recorded at the moment but I don’t have a full project that I want to release just yet. All I can say is stay tuned and keep listening because it’s only going to get better. Keep up with 7thWardRob on social media! Instagram: www.instagram.com/7thwardrob #BuzzMusic
- BRAND NEW: Stone The Druggist Just Dropped "Burn Slow"
Stone the Druggist is a group from Boston, Massachusetts. They formed originally in August of 2018 when members Jasper Forrest and Austin Manning released their first EP. Their sound is unique and is laden with psychedelic qualities and funky grooves. For the last several months, they have sought out two new band members, bassist Andrew Ford and drummer Liam Buttrick. Since then, their sound has evolved slightly into a more modern, gritty and expansive sonic landscape which can be heard on their upcoming EP release called “On the Other End”. “Burn Slow” is a single from Stone the Druggist’s upcoming EP. The first thing the listener is met with is a funky groove with a four-to-the-floor drum beat, a solid bass guitar, and a great syncopated groove from the guitar. The vocals in the verses are raspy, rhythmic, and have an almost rapping quality to them. The choruses by contrast are much more expansive, with string samples, and more tender and melodic vocals. Each instrument in the arrangement can be heard clearly, which is nice for a song with such intricate rhythms. The musicianship of the band is superb, with the funky vibes coming out very naturally; by contrast, the overall vibe of the song is ever so slightly dark, with some eclectic electric guitar sounds breaking up the song nicely in the middle. This isn’t your typical happy-go-lucky funk tune, and we recommend you give it a listen today! Check out the brand new single "Burn Slow" here. Read more exclusive details about Stone the Druggist in our interview below! Thanks for answering some of our questions! First of all, how did you meet and become a band? How did it all come together to form Stone the Druggist? Jasper Forrest (Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard) and Austin Manning (Guitar and Keyboard) have been long time friends, playing and writing music together in a couple different projects. Stone the Druggist was started when Jasper and Austin wanted to expand their musical ideas past the blue rock outfit of their last project Fools Paradise, and explore the unique sound they had created whilst jamming together in the summer of 2018. We released our self-titled EP in August of 2018 and have since added Andrew Ford (Bassist) and Liam Buttrick (Drummer) to the band. Andrew and Liam have been long time friends writing music since their early years of high school. They have added their own distinct taste and sound to the band and have helped shape and create the Stone the Druggist you hear today. As Boston residents, how would you describe the overall music scene there? Although Boston has much to offer with regards to its venues and a strong college scene, it still brings a strong feeling of isolation within the circuit. Without a doubt Boston has seen its fair share of immensely successful bands and musicians, but it has been rather quiet in the last couple of years. That being said, we’re hopeful that we can help contribute to a resurgence within the local music scene. Who would you say, collectively, are your greatest artistic influences? Between the four of us, our band has a plethora of influences such as Tame Impala, The Smiths, Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, and Foals. Would you mind briefly describing your creative process? How do the songs come together? In the beginning, our creative process consisted of a lot of individual ideas that have been fine tuned for months. The ideas are then presented to the rest of the band. After this the rest of us will then take the time to learn both the song structure as well as add our own creative input. The songs are then completed in a band setting. What can we hope to see from Stone the Druggist going forward? Stone the Druggist is all about taking risks, pushing ourselves as artists, and exploring self expression through this medium. In the future we expect to expand both our sound and sphere of influence. Keep up with Stone The Druggist on social media! Canvas Blck is an artist based out of Kansas City, Missouri. He has worked with the creative team behind Tech N9ne’s label for the visuals behind his latest music video. 2019 promises to be a big year for him as he plans several more releases. “Drug” is the latest single that Canvas Blck has to offer. The beginning of this song is eerie, with muffled sounds that are voices giving the song a slightly creepy yet highly intriguing vibe. The vocals enter soon thereafter with a beat, and while they are quite clear in comparison, they add very much to the dark vibes introduced from the beginning. The pacing of the arrangement is steady and never rushed, and the production quality is high. The vocals themselves are confident, precise and expressive. This single has a decent amount of variety in style, with the melodic vocals being divided in the middle by a rap verse featuring collaborator Melo Miles. There is also an accompanying music video to this single directed by Cole Davis which we highly encourage you to check out! Listen to "Drug". Catch up with Canvas Blck in our exclusive interview below! Hey, thanks for chatting with us! To begin, would you mind describing your background and how it is that you got into music? My pleasure thanks for having me. I’ve been writing songs since I was in middle school. As a teenager I was mostly making straight up rap records. It wasn’t until recently that I started singing and using more melodies in my music. My dad always had blues music playing at home, you can definitely hear that influence in my music. How does your creative process go? How does your music all end up coming together? I always find the production first, then I usually write the hook, and then I might sit on it for a few days and go back and finish the verses. I become bored quickly and have my fair share of incomplete songs laying around lol. Eventually I get around to completing them. You have a single out called “Drug”. Would you mind describing your intentions behind this song? Is there a specific message? Drug is about the ups and downs of a specific relationship that I went through. I find the highs and lows of love are identical to the euphoria and hopelessness one can experience with drugs. Who would you consider your biggest artistic influences? Musically, my influences would have to be Nelly, The Weeknd, Jacob banks, 6lack, and The Subdudes come to my mind first, but I’ve had many influences over the years that have led me to the sound I have today. You say you have more releases expected for 2019, can you tell us what we can expect from you in the near future? I have two new songs releasing in April, as well as a music video for an unreleased song. Stay tuned. Connect with Canvas Blck on social media! - Mon Rovîa Shows Elements Of Vulnerability In “When The World Goes Dark”
Mon Rovîa, also known as Andrew Lowe, is an artist like no other. With a compelling background, he has a voice that needs to be heard and a story to tell. Mon Rovîa came to America during the civil war of his country. (Liberia, West Africa). An indie musician and rap artist, Mon Rovîa is anticipating the release of his first full album debut on May 3, 2019. Then he will be releasing his indie alternative album in the fall. Mon Rovîa released his single titled “When The World Goes Dark”. This piece begins with a captivating piano melody and hums from the vocalist right before the vibrant trap beat transitions in and curates the perfect hip-hop element. Mon Rovîa sings in a specific cursive style that I believe is highly rare yet incredibly intriguing. His ability to ride his beat and deliver a flow with the uppermost breathe control painted an image of versatility to Mon Rovîa. "When The World Goes Dark" weaves the lines between dark and light while keeping the fresh appeal to the record. Mon Rovîa assures his listeners with his enticing songwriting skills. If you think of Post Malone and his ability to augment his music in an overwhelmingly pleasant delivery, then you will understand when I say that Mon Rovîa is a stand-out artist who knows how to translate himself well across this modern generation of hip-hop fans while not losing his sense of personal artistry. Check out Mon Rovîa's unreal single here. Read more about Andrew in our exclusive interview below! Hi Andrew, we're so happy to be talking with you. Tell our readers about yourself and your music! I am an indie musician and a rapper, I was born in Liberia West Africa, and adopted and then taken to the states. I do not really have a hometown, I moved a lot growing up and so never really grew up anywhere. I started doing Mon Rovîa last year and it’s been a steady journey. I couldn’t be doing any of this though if it weren’t for my faith in God, and two of my closest friends that believe in me, Riley, and Dali, they both really challenged me and made me see I could do this. My music is currently hip hop vibes, I am all about the feel of a song, not just loud beats. But yeah I’m finishing up my first rap album, which is due May 3rd. Then I will be transitioning to an indie album for the fall, I’m really stoked about it. Really excited for the future, and hopeful for better things, for all of us. Can you tell us the meaning behind your new song “When The World Goes Dark”? The song speaks about a lover, who wants to be the best he can be, but his addictions to drinking or just the life grind, have consumed him. He now is explaining his issues to the person he loves, as the song progresses, he grows in confidence about standing with her, and leaving these painful habits behind because all he desires is her. What inspired you to write “When The Dark”? What was the creation process like? I think just watching different relationships and my own, how when you are in love and are dealing with so much and have past issues and deep sadness how hard it is to be honest and break free from them. We desire to be in “that forever after relationship” but also fear we are just hurting the other person with our issues and breaking their hearts down, because we also love ourselves. Nobody wants to be that person that broke someone’s heart, and the guy is basically like don’t let me, leave. Creating process, 10 min of writing. What gives you your drive to create music? People who are lonely and without hope. They inspire me. I want them to know there’s hope, and that they aren’t the only ones who suffer with demons. I want them to know they got someone. Number one God. Number two me. What’s next for you? I’m moving to Chattanooga. Continuing my music career of course. Being with Mily, and taking everyday as it comes, and trying to honor God. Then in the fall releasing an indie album. Then more music. Etc etc etc Connect with Mon Rovîa on social media! Instagram: www.instagram.com/mon_rovia #BuzzMusic
