- Tamarrow Discusses Latest Singles, “CHANGES” & “SAFE GUARD”
Welcome to Buzz, Tamarrow! We're so impressed by your artistic versatility displayed in both singles "CHANGES" and "SAFE GUARD." What made you want to release these singles back-to-back? Thank you so much! The process of these two songs was heavily influenced by emotion and real-life events. During the process of making both, I was struck with a wide range of emotions, tackling grief, love loss, physical pain, and mental pain. I'm on a mission trip where I'm working with a program out in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and soon Zambia for a length of 10 months. "Fighting with the poor," where I can help families in need. This was one of the changes in my life that I had to prepare for mentally. These two songs coexist within each other's world, and for me personally, it's used as a reminder to say that I am ok and to protect myself from the unknown. What sort of vibe or atmosphere were you aiming for with "CHANGES?" What or who might have influenced this particular style? For "CHANGES," I wanted to highlight the beauty of dancing in sorrow. "CHANGES" is essentially a sad song that intertwines with grief. To dance within those moments of life is a reward within itself. I work with an engineer named Baytheproducer and his background of being Nigerian is written all over this song. I wanted a sense of togetherness and the feeling of home, so the question arose, "What is home?" To me, it's the motherland called Utopia or, in other words, Africa. The lyrics say, "Am I lost, hard to find my way back home?" The energy of finding wholeness again and choosing to walk in the light even if you live in darkness. My influence stems from my study of African culture. What inspired your emotional and relatable lyrics about safeguarding your emotions in "SAFE GUARD?" What life experiences made you write a song about that? "SAFE GUARD" is a reflection song reflecting on mental health's importance. What makes this life worthwhile? How to overcome loneliness? What part of myself am I protecting? "SAFE GUARD" provides light in the darkest areas of a person's mind. Due to me having severe bleeding ability, I experienced mental health issues at a very young age. Built trauma from physical pain has led to the thought of death and how excruciating pain can cause a mind to wonder how life is on the other side. Questioning Gawd, why me? I thought about how I felt when I was younger to really engage in these lyrics. It inspires me to say that I made it out of those dark times in my life to inspire the next person. Did you work alongside producers or musicians when creating "CHANGES" and "SAFE GUARD?" Who helped bring those songs to life? Definitely with "CHANGES" working with Baytheproducer, also known as Ladi, at "The Garden of Rhythm" by him making this beat. I gravitated to the vibrations that the rhythm brings to this song. Also, the melodic melodies and sounds of the whistle that are used as a calling to tell people it's time to dance, in my opinion, brought life to the song. For "SAFEGUARD" and "CHANGES," I vocally produced these tracks, and Baytheproducer vocally enhanced "CHANGES." How are "CHANGES" and "SAFE GUARD" different from your previous releases in 2022 and prior? How do these songs set the tone for your future career? "SAFE GUARD" and "CHANGES" are setting the tone for where I see my artistry increasing immensely. These two songs both show exactly where I am as an artist today. Regarding range and versatility, it shines a light on a superstar emerging. The endless talent and potential of something great are shown within these tracks. Music from 2022 was more on finding Tamarrow and who that person is; the music today is more on this is Tamarrow, and this is what he brings to the table. These two songs set a bright future, long-awaited success, and abundance for the rising star. Read more here. Instagram

Hear it yourself and see past the "Mirage" with Christopher Ambrose's new single, now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Christopher! Congratulations on releasing your first single of 2024, "Mirage." What led you to take almost a year off from releasing music? Thank you so much. I'm super excited for it. It's one of my favorite songs. To be quite honest, I've been going through many ups and downs, and I found that it was just really important to take a minute and find myself a little more. I did feel a little bit lost as an artist, but I feel like we find ourselves every day, especially when we continue to work on our passions. For me, that's getting to continue working with other artists. What inspired the theme and concept of your new single, "Mirage?" What experiences led to creating it? Mirage is basically a concept single. And like I said, I've been going through a lot personally, so writing this song represents all the emotions I've been experiencing with love and finding myself again. Mirage also talks about a love that was thought to be there but was all completely imagined. The video, directed by Jen Urban "R0zeGld" and filmed & edited by Shane Bundrant "0ldie", represents what it meant to feel going through real-life situations like waking up distraught to being disillusioned by fantasyland. In the end realization, I realized that performing in a bar was my actual reality and represented how happy I turned out to be regardless of the situations I've been through to get there. Did you create the production for "Mirage" yourself? What was that creative process like, whether solo or collaborative? Mirage was a self-produced record. I always look to my songwriter friends, like Jen and Jayse Vegas, for creative advice because I trust their judgment. Especially with this record, I just wanted it to be amazing. So, I would send them the mix process, and they'd return with their feedback. For that reason, this record will go down as one of my favorites. What was your favorite part about creating "Mirage?" Which part of the process did you enjoy most? I've been adamant about developing my sound and taking it to the next level every time. Especially when creating the video, it's literally my first music video to get published. I had my songwriter friend Robert Garcia on makeup for the video and Danielle Cardona, who styled me as well. Collaborating is just a beautiful thing. I think that my favorite part of all of this has been being able to work with my friends. Over the past year, has there been a change in your music? Does "Mirage" mark a new chapter for yourself as an artist? I do believe there is a change. I'm currently finishing my next album, and there seems to be a dance element throughout it. Mirage sounds nothing like the rest of the record; I'll just put it that way. Which I'm super excited about. Instagram
- FISHLORD’s Heartfelt Sonic Advocacy For Social Justice With ‘BROKEN’
Given the current state of the world, artists must use their platforms to address social and political issues, and FISHLORD, formerly known as Nafets, exemplifies this commitment. As a Trinidadian-American first-generation immigrant, FISHLORD’s latest musical direction offers an introspective glimpse into his upbringing amidst alternative music. Drawing inspiration from the distinctive sounds of 2000s rock, he infuses them with a fresh, contemporary twist, resulting in an innovative, versatile, and instantly captivating style. Growing up, the hardcore and metal scene allowed him to express his feelings and defy the expectations of being a third-culture kid. Now, he embraces this sound to convey these emotions, offering listeners a candid and intimate glimpse into his journey of self-discovery and the hurdles he's encountered. He returns with ‘BROKEN,’ the penultimate release before he unveils his raucous maxi EP ‘YOU LOOK LIKE YOU TREAT LIKE DOGS LIKE PEOPLE,’ which dives deeper into his roots of nu-metal, punk, and rock genres. ‘BROKEN,’ written in late 2023 during a time of deep reflection on the hardships faced by young people in Gaza, emerges as a synthesis of the contrasting sonic landscapes that encapsulate FISHLORD's diverse musical influences, spanning from System of a Down to Alex G. As a teacher by day, FISHLORD's commitment to using his platform for social commentary is evident in this track. He sees it as his duty to express his sadness and frustration towards the suffering in the Middle East, and ‘BROKEN’ is a testament to this mission. The song is a powerful piece of music and a call to awareness and empathy. “I believe every educator should be concerned with the fates of young people everywhere, and at that moment, I felt dismayed and helpless at how best to support them,” says FISHLORD. “In bringing the song together, I recruited my dear friend, Goodie, for a verse. I’ve always respected the thoughtfulness and care with which they move through the world, and I knew I could count on them for a beautiful and meaningful contribution. Releasing it almost 6 months later, my heart goes out to the young people still suffering and all those educators and students who are trying to advocate for them.” FISHLORD, alongside his close friend and collaborator Goodie, skilfully crafts a sonic landscape that is both haunting and beautiful. Opening with gentle melodic rock instrumentation, the track creates a serene atmosphere that lulls listeners into a sense of calm. This peaceful introduction starkly contrasts what follows as the song erupts into a powerful screamo chorus. This sudden shift in tone mirrors the emotional volatility and intensity of the subject matter, drawing listeners into the depths of FISHLORD’s introspective lyrics. The song delves into the heartache and helplessness experienced in the face of widespread suffering, particularly in the context of Gaza. His words resonate with a universal sense of grief, making the song relatable to anyone who has felt the weight of the world's injustices. As FISHLORD prepares to release his highly anticipated EP, 'YOU LOOK LIKE YOU TREAT YOUR DOGS LIKE PEOPLE,' 'BROKEN' stands as a promising indication of what's to come and solidifies FISHLORD's place as a rising star in the alternative music scene. Marking his debut EP under his new moniker, ‘YOU LOOK LIKE YOU TREAT YOUR DOGS LIKE PEOPLE,’ is a vibrant tapestry of rock genres, blending his affinity for hardcore alternative music with a contemporary flair. While not steering to far from his acclaimed work as Nafets (which garnered millions of streams and prominent sync placements like The CW, Netflix, and Hulu), FISHLORD's latest venture represents an evolution rather than a complete overhaul. By infusing his signature sound with elements of hardcore alternative music, he creates an elevated version of himself, staying true to his roots while exploring new creative territories. This EP promises to be a thrilling journey for fans, showcasing FISHLORD's growth as an artist and his unwavering commitment to pushing musical boundaries. ‘BROKEN’ is available across all streaming platforms now, while his EP ‘YOU LOOK LIKE YOU TREAT YOUR DOGS LIKE PEOPLE’ will be available from 14th June. Emerging Cambridge-based pop producer Sam Macdonald's lively new single, "I Wanted More," alongside vocalist and songwriter Imo, sparks a nu-disco groove. Honing his craft by studying Music Production at Leeds Conservatoire, Sam Macdonald eventually created the signature sound that landed him roughly 10k streams on Spotify alone. His tracks are the definition of ear candy, blending vibrant instruments with an energetic vibe ready to start any party or casual chill. Sam Macdonald does what he does best in his newest single, "I Wanted More," creating an absolutely irresistible listening experience brimming with nostalgic disco vibes but with splashes of modern pop for a well-rounded feel. The stunning vocals of the singer-songwriter imo are everything we could ask for: fun, enchanting, and making a great song even better. Diving deeper into "I Wanted More," we're met with a riveting bassline alongside imo's shimmering vocals that lead into the groovy nu-disco verse. While we make our way to the dancefloor, Sam Macdonald backs us up with killer drums and pristine production while imo sings an empowering message of laying her needs on the line, not afraid to claim "I Wanted More." Sam Macdonald wastes no time sparking a sonic fire in our speakers. Everything from the catchy melodies and vibrant energy makes this song feel like dancing in a sweaty nightclub in the heat of summer. And if Macdonald keeps pumping out epic songs like this, we can expect to hear his tunes bumping through the mainstream's speakers. Hit play on your new summer anthem with Sam Macdonald's latest single, "I Wanted More," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Sam! We love the energy and vibe of your recent single with imo, "I Wanted More." Did anything in particular inspire you to create this lively hit? I created a nu-disco/pop track, drawing inspiration from the production values of reference tracks like "Stay Over" by Anassa and "Better Days" by NEIKED. I discovered that the bass served as the anchor, which is the song's driving force. The warmth from the synths added a rich, smooth feel, while the vocals were crisp and polished, bringing everything together perfectly. I wanted to create a track that fuses the lyrical context and attractive musical elements to create an immersive experience that feels familiar and fresh. What was your experience working with singer-songwriter imo for "I Wanted More?" Was this your first time working together? Imo is a great vocalist who can perfectly craft her voice to evoke emotion and ultimately get the best out of a performance. I Wanted More is our third collaboration, with our previous releases being Video Games (2022) and Wild Strawberries (2023). Both of these are of similar style in the retro pop world but are unique in their own way. Video Games are very unconventional; the track constantly expands from start to finish and takes the listener on a melodic adventure. On the other hand, Wild Strawberries is full of warmth and, lyrically, an authentic, personal journey. Could you break down the process behind creating the production for "I Wanted More?" How did you determine which direction to take the song in? I started off with the bass guitar and layered in some synthesis, incorporating elements like Rhodes, bell sounds, and a Juno synth. Everything for this track was done in-the-box. Next, I added drums, using a heavy process to drive a thick, punchy, saturated sound. Imo wrote and sent over the vocals, and I mixed them in, aiming for a full, airy quality where the harmonies played a significant role into creating a full, wide sound. The last piece of the puzzle was creating the vocoder. I hit a creative block when creating something melodic for the post-chorus sections. I experimented with layering different synths and even a saxophone riff, but nothing seemed to fit. I finally had a light bulb moment, crafted a modulated vocoder/talkbox, and applied a lot of processing to imo’s vocal to make it its own instrument. What makes "I Wanted More" different from your previous releases? In your opinion, how does it stand out? I Wanted More marks a significant milestone in my musical journey. My collaboration with Golden Factory Records, specifically their Paradise label, sets it apart from my previous releases. I’m excited about possibly releasing more tracks with them in the future. From a production standpoint, it’s one of the most professional-sounding tracks I’ve produced to date, or at least one of the ones I’m most proud of. Every sound has a clear place in the spectral space, the vocals convey a deep emotional connection, and the track's energy flows seamlessly throughout. What did you want listeners to feel when hearing "I Wanted More?" What was your goal in terms of their experience with the song? I wanted my listeners to be transported to a world where the essence of disco meets the innovation of modern pop. I wanted them to feel a deep sense of connection and authenticity. My goal was to evoke a range of feelings, from introspection to empowerment, encouraging the listener to reflect on their own story and relationships. Instagram Facebook
- Tyler Allred Strives To Soothe His Stressors In New Single, "Anxious Anyway"
Serenading listeners with a message of meaning is Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and recording artist Tyler Allred with his raw new single, "Anxious Anyway." The California-born artist grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan, moving back west in 2017 to dedicate his days to music and sobriety. Spending his twenties grappling with heroin addiction, Allred openly speaks about his past if it means helping others get clean. His 2019 release, "Everything Is Fine," eventually landed on an episode of MTV Catfish. More recently, the passionate recording artist is releasing tracks from his upcoming EP titled 33 Days And A Wake Up, like his recent single, "Anxious Anyway." Recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, the new single is an ode to those recurring feelings of anxiety and seeking the little things in life to help soothe them. It's a relatable, tender song that any listener can find a piece of themselves in. Jumping into "Anxious Anyway," we're met with comforting and lush acoustic guitar riffs melting into the first verse alongside mid-tempo drums and Tyler Allred's raspy, calming vocals. As he begins expressing his pains and his running tongue, he ventures over to the hook and calls on a lover to say those pretty things to help soothe his stressors. But many of us know anxiety's recurring ways, and Tyler Allred perfectly describes that morning wave of emotion that leaves us starting the day "Anxious Anyway." It's a raw, honest, and vulnerable single that many listeners can relate to—offering solace and a safe escape from our busy external (and internal) worlds. Allow Tyler Allred to lend a musical helping hand with his latest single, "Anxious Anyway," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz, Tyler! We genuinely respect the raw and relatable emotion brought to your recent single, "Anxious Anyway." What inspired you to write such a vulnerable song like this? Thanks, glad to be here. I was recording the third song from the E.P. “It Might Be Fun” at Sunset Sound, and I kept getting distracted by playing the chord progression of “Anxious Anyway.” At the time, I hadn’t decided on what the fourth song would be yet, and I wanted something brand new. I kept playing the guitar part for several weeks and nothing was coming to me. One morning, I woke up, and the opening line was just there, “I’m vacant enough for the two of us.” I picked up my guitar and just continued singing whatever came naturally, and within a half hour or less, it was written. I didn’t ever physically write the lyrics or spend any time second guessing them, I just went with what came natural. Somehow the songs of mine I like the most are always the easiest to write. Would you say that "Anxious Anyway" is one of your more personal releases? Or do you frequently release such emotional and vulnerable tracks? It’s probably up there, couldn’t really say why. It’s definitely one of my personal favorites I’ve written and it does feel authentic to me. I’ve definitely got some others that are the same way but it’s never a goal I have in mind. There’s another unreleased one from the E.P. called “Expectations” that definitely touches on a lot of personal issues as well. What was the most rewarding part about creating and releasing "Anxious Anyway"? What did you enjoy most? A few things come to mind. It was the final piece of the E.P. puzzle, so once it was written and recorded, I had the E.P. I was lucky enough to record this song and the entire record at Sunset Sound, where so many of my favorites have been recorded before me, I.E. Elliott Smith, Neil Young, Jim Morrison, etc. I recorded the whole thing with a sound engineer named Alex Miller who was helpful on so many levels and just a great human I’m lucky to consider a friend. The equipment in that place was mind-blowing. I also shot a video for the song with a good friend of mine, Ryan Hillary. He also shot and directed my first video “What’s The Move.” Why did you choose to release "Anxious Anyway" as a lead single from your upcoming EP 33 Days And A Wake Up? How does this song prepare listeners for what's to come? It’s just one of my personal favorites and I think it gives a pretty good sense of where I think my music is heading. I like that it’s pretty bare-bones and simple. Just guitars, vocals, and drums. If listeners could take anything away from "Anxious Anyway," what would you want it to be? What did you want to leave them with? In all honesty, it never crosses my mind unless I’m asked, and when I’m asked, I never have a good answer. I’ve written a few hundred songs in my life, but I tend to only record the ones that come so easily that I feel like I didn’t even write them. Sometimes, a line comes in a dream or something, and the song writes itself, like “Anxious Anyway.” That being said, during the writing process itself, I’m not sure the listener ever enters the equation; I’m a bit selfish that way. I definitely hope that people get something out of it and that it has an effect, but I don’t think I have any business telling them what that should be. Furthermore, half the time I don’t know what my songs mean to me or the meaning evolves over time. In summary, take what you will, and thanks for listening. Instagram
- Maisy Kay’s “Technicolor Honeymoon” Is A Sonic Release Of Vibrant Pop Sounds
“Sunlight” has been featured on several global editorial playlists on Spotify and Apple Music and has generated over 423K views on YouTube. With over 225K streams on Spotify, Maisy's single “In Your Car” premiered on April 5, 2024. Next up, her newest single and music video, "Technicolor Honeymoon,” released on Friday, May 10, ahead of her EP Wanderlust: The Dawn, which premiered on May 13, 2024! “Technicolor Honeymoon came to me after a trip that felt so vibrant and colorful, and well, like I was on honeymoon! It was one of the rare occurrences where the name prefaced everything else. I had the phrase “Technicolor Honeymoon” so strongly engraved in my brain that I had to create a song around it.” - Maisy Kay. Maisy has been making her mark in the music industry, collaborating with some of the most undeniable powerhouses in music, such as Timbaland, Tiësto, Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins, and Max Martin protégé Lukas “LULOU” Loules. Her biggest record is “The Storm,” with 31.7M Spotify streams and over 316M cumulative views on YouTube. Congratulations on your new EP, "Wanderlust: The Dawn." What would you like fans to take away from this EP? I would like fans to enjoy a piece of my mind when I’m in love and see how much art can flourish under the embrace of such a powerful love. It’s a completely new avenue I’m dipping into, and it comes from a very vulnerable and real place in my life. I hope fans embrace that authenticity. What's your favorite single and music video from the EP, and why? I am incredibly proud of “Technicolor Honeymoon”—both the song and the video. It was the song that convinced me we had to do an EP. I knew immediately it would be the focus track. The video is my favorite we’ve ever done. It’s beautiful and whimsical, and I had the opportunity to work with an incredible director, Steven Gomillion, who truly brought it all to life. How would you describe yourself as an artist? What inspires you the most when creating music? I like to think I’m heartfelt, thoughtful, and somewhat ethereal. I think I shine when I write from the heart. I have a lot of feelings—I always have—and there are pros and cons to that. A wonderful pro is that my best work usually comes from writing those feelings down and staying true to myself. I always try to create with that in mind. Tell us about the process of creating your single "In Your Car?" I wrote “In Your Car” because I loved how my partner always opened the car door for me. I had thought to myself that I hoped they would still open the door for me even when the honeymoon phase had passed and we were years into the relationship. The track has a lot of underlying worry and hope, but I still wanted it to convey that joyous feeling of new love. You've collaborated with huge musicians such as The Fat Rat, Tiësto, and Timbaland. How have these collaborations helped challenge or shape you as an artist? It has been an honor to work with such talented artists, and it’s inspiring to see how everyone works differently and how we can come together with our own unique skill sets to create something wonderful. There’s so much I still don’t know about music, and I’m always eager to learn. I think they’ve helped open my eyes to a broader avenue of creating, and I think those collaborations were integral to my improvement as a writer and performer. What's next for Maisy Kay? My EP “Wanderlust: The Dawn” comes out May 13th, and it’s far from the last piece of music I will put out this year. There are many more surprises on the way! IG TikTok
