- Max Diaz Sits Down at BuzzMusic to Chat About New Release,“Cowboy Cult"
Welcome to BuzzMusic, Max Diaz! We loved “Cowboy Cult,” we had to ask! With so many robust offerings from your recent album “Metanoia,” what made you gravitate to this piece in particular? Thank you for having me, Buzz. I felt like this song, mainly, is what I’ve felt towards the cliche “cowboy” since I grew up in Texas. It resonates with this mockery I’ve had with the stereotype for a while. What was your favorite part of bringing your vision for “Metanoia” to life? It was finally getting to work with creatives who understood what I was seeing and, most importantly - what I was hearing. Can you take us through your typical creative process? First comes the guitar riff, then comes a mouthful of melodic gibberish to find that hook. From there, I came up with the beginning of the song, leading me to see the following sequence… and then the next.. and then the next. It is an odd process, but melody comes first; then, you speak what you mean. What does music mean to you, and do you have any particularly special music-related memories you’d like to share? Music is the Motherhood of my existence. I don’t believe I’d be qualified for anything else, haha. It has brought me a feeling I don’t think I could get elsewhere. No matter where I am in my life; heartbreak, highlights, or even on a dull Sunday afternoon - music has always been there for me. What’s next for Max Diaz? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? I want to prepare my fellow cultists for the METANOIA tour this summer. I’ll be having multiple shows planned, as well as some more songs leading up to the Deluxe version of METANOIA. To all my supporters and cool-ass motherf*ckers, keep remaining the reason why I’m doing this. Instagram
- Take A Load Off At Your Next “Backyard BBQ” With See Style
Atlanta has always been a melting pot of multiple cultures, and it's been See Style's exposure to multiple cultures combined with exposure to vast socioeconomic settings which has contributed to his unique perspective. When asked to describe his musical content, See Style said, "This is what it would sound like if your neighbor with three kids, a wife, and a mortgage could rap." Having music for every level of evolution in hip-hop, See Style adapts an approach where he is everybody - because you can see a little style in everybody you know. His latest single, "Backyard BBQ," fits perfectly into the spectrum of See Style's musical talents and lifestyle. The piano's forward bop instills feel-good and bouncy energy as soon as we press play, and we're here for this laidback yet vivid summertime anthem that encapsulates his energy impeccably. Taking us back to the 2000s, where the jubilant instrumentations are greeted with abundant storytelling, the nostalgia rushing through the speakers goes hand in hand with the lively vibe that See Style emanates from his audience. His swift flow and effortless delivery bring listeners unmatched ease as he delves into the details he scribes. There's a focus on the narrative, and how See Style ropes you into his story is brilliant. He has his audience wanting more, all while getting lost in the melodic swing the instrumentation carries out. Speaking on core memories of his past with trials and tribulations, love, family matters, and what the setting of a backyard BBQ would do for the soul, See Style brings you into his world through vulnerability and lyricism as the realism that drips from his poised tonal distinction emit truth and a picturesque quintessence. Grasp onto all this and more as you delve into "Backyard BBQ" today, the nonchalant heater that is bound to make it to your next summer BBQ. Welcome to BuzzMusic, See Style! Congratulations on the release of "Backyard BBQ." This song holds so much value regarding your story and the feel-good energy conveyed. What inspired you to create a vibe like this? Real-life events and circumstances inspired the song. I was going through some issues in my professional and personal life, and the song was inspired by the feeling I always felt when visiting my father's home. The line where I say leave my problems at the door; I'll pick them up when I leave," came from a real place. There are a few places I can go and put the noise from the outside on mute, and my father's house is one of those places. How did you adopt the persona of you being everybody? When did that come to you, and could you please dive deeper into what that means to you? The idea of me being everyone evolved. When I meet and speak with people in my professional and personal life, we all have similar goals and concerns. Those goals and concerns are similar despite the differences in financial status. I have talked with senior managers of Fortune 500 companies, supervisors, hourly laborers, and entrepreneurs who struggle to cover monthly expenses and make payroll. The common theme throughout all of those conversations is the want to provide for their families, the want to secure financial security, and to be able to do some of the things that they enjoy. My connection to See Style being everybody is rooted in my continuous love affair with music. The financial expenditures related to the production and marketing of my music have never been equivalent to the revenues generated by the product. Still, my commitment to producing and releasing music is similar to that of the American who spends thousands of dollars playing golf with the understanding that their chances of making the PGA and generating revenue that would cover the expenses are slim. That weekend warrior who spends hours on the golf course each year gets to escape the personal and professional challenges that consume so many hours of their life; they get to see their game evolve. The feeling of seeing your skill set evolve is priceless. When I say that See Style is everybody, it is rooted in the reality that everyone deserves something they enjoy, and it will not always make sense to the outside world. With your music being so well-rounded and holding a space for everyone, what themes do you enjoy writing about the most? What makes "Backyard BBQ" so unique in your discography? The themes I enjoy writing about the most allow me to express my perspective on the situations that are a part of my everyday life. A former boss told me, "You are not special." when he elaborated on the statement, he communicated that the concerns and the issues that I face are not unique to me. Backyard BBQ is special to me because it communicates the appreciation that I have for the environment that my father has provided me at his residence. I hope listeners understand that the backyard BBQ with my daddy on the grill is my place of refuge; the goal is that the song reminds listeners of that special environment or person that offers them a place of refuge. What message and emotion would you like your audience to pick up on when listening to "Backyard BBQ?" The message that I want my audience to pick up when listening to the song is that each of us needs a safe place that allows us to regroup mentally. I hope that the song sparks the process of mental recovery. If you could tell your listeners something about you that they may not know, what would you want it to be? If I could tell my listeners something about me that they may not know, it would be that it would mean the world to me if they cheer for me. At this point in my life and career, I know that music means something to someone priceless. I will continue to produce and release music because that is what I am supposed to be doing, but knowing that the music elevated someone's day is worth billions of streams. Instagram Facebook
- Recording Artist And Music Producer Terry L Harris Discusses Latest Project, "Headphones Music"
Welcome to Buzz, Terry! We love the dynamic range and styles featured in your new instrumental album, HeadPhones Music. What inspired the creation of this album and your diverse musical approach? Thanks for having me back; talking with you guys is always a pleasure! Thanks for checking out the project; I appreciate what you guys do for Indy artists like me! I initially wrote around 30 tracks to collaborate with singers from different musical landscapes. What made you want to recreate Tears For Fears' 1985 hit "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" for an addition on HeadPhones Music? Why did you feel this cover was a good fit? Im an 80s guy and Always record a few covers with every new project. I love Tears For Fears and thought I had a female R&B artist locked in to sing it! I gave it a slower RnB-type vibe and kept it when the collab didn't work out. Did you create HeadPhones Music entirely solo? Or did you collaborate with any musicians/producers to nail your desired sound? What was that process like? I'm a 100 percenter with this project front to back..writing, composing, recording, producing, and playing all the instruments! I am at my best when I can flow from one instrument to the next, getting my ideas out as they come. Which song from HeadPhones Music is your personal favorite and why? What makes that song stand out to you? I love all of this batch, but I have to say Me is my favorite. I see my therapist once a week(if you have trauma unaddressed, I recommend seeing someone who doesn't judge) anyway; he asked me what I would say to my 8-year-old self to make that little guy feel better. I don't hear words or lyrics, but being a passionate writer, I wrote what I think those feelings sounded like to soothe that version of "Me." What was your goal with HeadPhones Music? What did you want listeners to experience, and what feelings or emotions did you want to evoke? HeadPhones Music aims to give the listener a canvas of music to attach what they are going through from song to song. I hope everyone finds at least one song they can relate to and have scenarios to attach to the music. Lastly, music sounds like feelings; it's the universal language. We have enough cheat songs, songs about the streets, etc... I want my music to be part of a solution with love, acceptance, and reflection and create honest conversation. Thank you again for having me; please stream HeadPhones Music. I appreciate it.

- BUZZ Exclusive: Diving Into Traumatone's Latest EP, ‘Judgement’
Welcome to BuzzMusic, Traumatone! We love the emotional and sonic journey within your latest EP, Judgement. What does this project mean to you? What inspired you to create it? Thank you for having me! I am always happy to hear a positive response to the music! I've been saying lately that Judgement is my favorite work to date. I'm very proud of the music on this release. It would initially be a bigger project with more songs, but narrowing it down to a handful of songs that I felt were solid was the better way to go. But I'm usually not one to be intentional about a new release. It just so happens that as time goes on and more music comes out of me, I'll start thinking about gathering songs if I feel excited about them. With Judgement, I felt that the music was good but also slightly different in specific ways that would be healthy evolving to take the next step forward in the catalog. I think it stands out. Traumatone is often referred to as 'The Soundtrack To The Broken World.' Would you say the songs on Judgement contribute to that narrative? How do they play into that theme? I would say that there are a couple of tracks that do play into that narrative. Moonlight is meant to be a metaphor for the dark parts of life in this world with its broken inhabitants, as opposed to daylight, where everything is good, correct, and safe. The song is about venturing out into all of that to find people who are hurting and help them out of that and into the light, so to speak. The Warning is more a straight-up commentary that corrupt behaviors and the terrible things people do will have consequences. What was your creative process when formulating such dynamic instrumentals and production for Judgement? Did you collaborate with anyone to make your vision come to life? The creative process continuously varies for me. Sometimes, it's a guitar riff that starts the process. Sometimes, it's a drum beat or something on the synth, or sometimes, it can even be a melody that just appears in my head, and I have to work it out instrumentally. For instance, one that comes to mind is the melody of the melody in Moonlight, which just popped into my head. The last thing you hear at the end of that song is that melody played on the synth. That was the very first thing I recorded. Then, I just built the rest of the song around that. But very often, as any musician will tell you, feelings and emotions drive the melodies. I can translate a feeling into a sound, and that's where it all comes from. I did not collaborate with anyone. It's all just parts of me in audio form. We were fascinated by the dynamic nature of Judgement's outro track, "The Warning." Why did you place this song as the big finish, and how did you want it to impact listeners? The Warning is an interesting one. It has a unique sound and is definitely a callback to early Traumatone when some songs had a bit of an almost industrial touch. In fact, the entire instrumental of that song was written long before even the very first Traumatone EP. I placed it last because the song's lyrical content is the main tie-in to the EP's title of, Judgement. That's why there are multiple references to "the judge" in the lyrics. It's loud and heavy and carries an important message that I wanted to be the last thing you're left with. A thought. The thought that (though some don't believe the same) we will all face judgment when it's all said and done. I believe that is something that everyone should wrestle with. I also feel it's something to take comfort in. There is a general sense of uneasiness among people who feel the world is quickly going more and more downhill. But in the end, justice will be served, and it will all be dealt with one way or another. It sounds counterintuitive, but I hope facing the thought of judgment will help motivate people to change their path and live a more loving, giving life and do good to others. Which of all five tracks on Judgement is your favorite, and why? What makes that song stand out to you? Each song is unique in its own way, and I love them all, so it's hard to narrow it down. But if I had to pick one, I'd say I'm most proud of Death of Me. It's not the lead single, and I already suspect it won't be the favorite of many longtime listeners, but this one stands out to me because it's something I've never done before. This is the only acoustically driven song in the entire Traumatone catalog. It's also one of the few tracks that allow me to push my vocals into a higher range, which I don't often do. Aside from all of that, I feel that the lyrics and story of the song actually match the haunting vibe of the music perfectly. I love it! Instagram

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Baker Grace. We loved “Painkiller,” we had to ask you! What was the creative process like for this song? Thank you! “Painkiller” was a fun song to write. It started with a voice memo I recorded on my piano at home. The lyric that stood out was, the promise of more is a powerful force that’s consuming the peace in your mind.” My producer and I used the chord progression from the voice memo and wrote the song on electric guitar. We wanted to honor that one line and create a song about lasting happiness. I wanted it to be fun and sexy because there’s nothing more attractive than being confident, present, and loving who you are. What was your favorite part of bringing the vision for the music video to life? My favorite part was shooting the actual video. I love being in front of a camera and taking on the persona of my music. Working with the director, Zac Stracener was also super fun. He is a good friend, and we get each other creatively, making the whole process a lot easier. We shot the video from 5 pm to 5 am at a Charlotte, North Carolina diner. It is always amazing to see the result of all the preparation and hard work. What do you think is the most important feature for an artist to have? The most important feature for an artist to have is something to say and the ability to emote it. I think an artist's job is to give meaning to the talent and creativity that music requires. It starts with being vulnerable and genuine because no one will feel what you’re saying if you don’t feel it yourself. If your listeners could take one thing away from your music, what would it be and why? I want people to know that there’s strength in vulnerability. We can’t let go of our pain if we are afraid to feel it. We can’t reach the light at the end of the tunnel if we’re afraid of the dark. What’s next for Baker Grace? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans? I will post covers and unreleased demos on social media until the end of the year. A Christmas song and cover are also coming out on YouTube. New music and live shows will be in 2024, so follow me (@bakergracemusic) to stay up to date. Instagram Facebook
- Exclusive Sit Down With POCKiT And Their New Single, “No Headlights”
Welcome to BuzzMusic, POCKiT! We love the vibe in your sound and how your music is a fusion of various genres, from funk to jazz, blues, rock, and gospel improvisations. How did you navigate these diverse influences to create the distinctive sound we hear in 'No Headlights' and the entirety of 'En Camino?' Hey BuzzMusic! Thanks for having us, and we're thrilled to share the journey of creating our first single,"'No Headlights' and our upcoming album release 'En Camino.' The diversity in our sound directly reflects our eclectic backgrounds as a band. Each member brings a unique set of influences to the table, creating a musical melting pot that's both challenging and rewarding to navigate. Our love for Funk, Jazz, and Blues serves as a common ground, acting as the backbone of our sound. It's like a musical glue that binds our tastes together. 'No Headlights' is a prime example of this fusion. In "No Headlights," the vocals take a back seat, and the horns play a central role. Could you share the creative process behind incorporating these classic instruments into your composition and what kind of atmosphere you aim to create with them while delivering a purely instrumental intro? The roots of 'No Headlights' trace back to 2019 during one of our live jam sessions with the incredible Itawe Correa, a two-time Grammy-nominated vocalist. As we continued to evolve the piece, we brought in the talents of Sebastian Pareja and Luigi Arredondo on the tenor saxophone in 2021. These up-and-coming artists added a fresh and dynamic layer to the sound, contributing to the evolving tapestry of influences that define our music. You can check this video of the band during the evolution of the song. Their enthusiasm and innovative approach brought a contemporary edge to the track, enriching the overall sonic experience. 'No Headlights' aimed to create an atmosphere of high-energy grooves with a distinctive "Southern Rock" feel. We wanted the audience to be listeners and active participants, moving to the captivating groove we were building. As the drum solo moves on top of these fusion unison lines, it's not just a showcase of individual skill; it's a moment of collective musical expression. We played a pivotal role in achieving this goal, including the guitar solo and the bold horn lines from Sebastian and Luigi. Your band, POCKiT, consists of four talented members, each bringing a unique perspective to the group. How do your musical backgrounds and personal experiences contribute to the collaborative process when crafting a song or album like "En Camino"? When crafting 'En Camino,' we made a conscious effort to embrace our varied influences. We wanted to showcase the richness that comes from our diverse musical backgrounds. To achieve this, we took a two-pronged approach. On one hand, we collaborated with experienced players who brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the recording studio. Their seasoned skills added depth and complexity to specific tracks, creating a sonic landscape that felt both mature and refined. On the other hand, we wanted to inject fresh and youthful energy into the album. This led us to collaborate with up-and-coming players, injecting raw creativity and spontaneity into some songs. We needed to strike a balance between the polished sound of experienced musicians and the vibrant, unbridled energy of emerging talents. Please provide insight into the themes and stories throughout the album and explain how "No Headlights" fits into the larger narrative? The story behind its name dates back to 2020 when Josh's trusty Nissan Versa experienced a minor hiccup—one of its headlights malfunctioned. It just so happened that during one of our weekly meetings at our studio in Oakland Park, FL, this incident became the catalyst for the birth of "No Headlights." As a band known for pushing musical boundaries, what's your ultimate vision for your music's impact? What do you hope your listeners take away from these creations? As a band, our ultimate vision is to create music that transcends boundaries and resonates with people profoundly. We hope our music becomes a source of upliftment, a sonic journey that takes our listeners to new heights and allows them to appreciate the intricate craftsmanship behind the scenes. We don't just want our audience to enjoy the final product; we want them to immerse themselves in the artistry and passion that fuels each note, beat, and lyric. Instagram Facebook
