At the same time, she adopts a sound that rings true to her own experiences and finesse. Getting into the flow of writing "Not A Fool," the quintessence of this track is second nature for Viv. She vulnerably lets us into her life and asks us to relate with her on many levels. We adore the heart and passion you place into your latest single, "Not A Fool." With such personal lyrics, is there a moment or story that inspired this song? There is a story behind the lyrics. I was dating a guy I wasn't really into, but I fell hard after a short time of dating. He went home to visit family & stopped texting/calling me as much. I knew something was up, but he reassured me nothing was wrong. A week later, he said we had to "talk." My heart knew it was over, but I hoped it wasn't. He broke my heart for another girl but said, "It's not you; it's me." Blah blah blah, lol I got over him eventually. A few months later, I started talking to someone else & that's when the first guy said he'd been thinking about what he did & how he was sorry. He said he wanted a second chance. Not going to lie; I was tempted, but I remembered he broke my heart once for another girl, so why wouldn't he do it again? That's how Not A Fool was born! What can you tell us about the team that helped bring "Not A Fool" to life? What was the creative process like? What can you tell us about the team that helped bring "Not A Fool" to life? What was the creative process like? The team was terrific! I co-wrote this with Marty Lamain. I told him I had an idea for a new song in one of our sessions. I originally had a different version of Not A Fool, but after Marty asked me what I wanted my audience to get from the song, he helped me get the message across more powerfully. Ryan Lau was the producer of this song. He took this & made it the best version it could ever be!! It started much slower, but we both felt it needed to be upbeat. I told him my vision for this song was to empower others who had been dumped & wanted back, to say no. With this being your third studio single released, what have you noticed about yourself as an artist from your debut to now? Whoa! That's an excellent question. I feel like I can write & sing with more honesty. What message would you like your audience to take away from a ballad like "Not A Fool?" I definitely want my audience to feel empowered to say, "No, I'm not going back to the person who broke my heart." I also want them to feel like that's ok. They don't have to settle with the person who broke their heart. What's next for you? I am super excited for the next song that will be releasing this fall!!! Production on songs for 2024 are beginning this month! One of my personal goals would be to start playing shows in the local area. Instagram Facebook

  • BNH Deluxe Gets Personal With His New Single “IN MY ARMS”

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres and artists such as Nirvana, Deftones, Joji, and Radiohead, BNH Deluxe is an artist who seamlessly blends elements of trap, pop, indie, and heavy metal/nu-metal to create an intriguing and captivating sonic experience. The musical alias of John RePass emerged from the vibrant Seattle music scene with a sound that defies easy categorization. Currently navigating his junior year in high school, BHN Deluxe's sound is already mature beyond his years, and it seems like he only gets better with time. The melodic essence of BNH Deluxe comes to us again with the release of his latest single, "IN MY ARMS." Offering up this heartfelt piece chalked full of honeyed harmonies and wistful lyrics, he speaks on the effort one puts into romantic relationships only to feel lonely and isolated. A theme that all can relate to, BNH Deluxe has a knack for creating relatable songs that resonate with his audience far and wide as he simultaneously pulls their heartstrings and creates an atmospheric vibe to simmer within. What we love most about BNH Deluxe's performance throughout this record is his ability to paint vivid imagery that is thought-provoking, all while allowing us to fixate on the emotion he pours from himself into this earnest representation of honest sentiments. "IN MY ARMS" fits into the realm of today's pop style yet enters the melodic world of hip-hop's evolution as his artistry resembles mainstream creatives like The Kid Laroi and Iann Dior. Equipped with the heart and charisma it takes to make it to the top, we eagerly await more profound creations from BNH Deluxe as he keeps his foot on the gas and applies pressure to his next release. Welcome to BuzzMusic, BNH Deluxe! We love the passion you convey in your latest single, "IN MY ARMS." With such personal lyrics that sound directly from your heart - what moment or story inspired the creation of this song? First of all, thank you for having me! When I first started making the song, it was the instrumental aspect of it that drew me into completing the song. When I first made the guitar part, I was hooked and wanted to make a fast, upbeat song without paying much attention to what I was doing regarding lyrics, as long as it made sense. However, looking back, the song seems like it's about someone doing their best for someone else but ultimately not being enough for them, which ironically is not a very upbeat topic to write an upbeat-sounding song about. What are your favorite themes to write about as an artist? Do you find it's easier to return to the headspace of some topics while others take a bit more coaxing? Returning to the headspace of previous topics is spot on since I notice that unless I choose explicitly to write about something specific and new, I always go back to writing about my own unique experiences with overall mental turmoil and ocd. I think it's especially apparent in my older music. Regarding your artistic and non-artistic inspirations, what and who keeps you motivated and inspired daily? Why do you create music? I have many inspirations, more than I can count, and some I probably don't even realize. But a notable motivation for me artistically and musically is myself. I like to think I change a lot, and I often notice that I evolve so much in a year that I become a whole different version of myself, like a new, better person. And looking back, I've changed so much, so if that much can happen in a few years, I can't wait for my future self to look back and see how much we've grown. How does "IN MY ARMS" hold up to the first song you ever released? Do you find that you've kept the same approach to your artistry, or have things changed along the way? If anyone heard my first song, I'd expect they'd immediately notice how different it is from "IN MY ARMS," not to say that any artist's first song is probably other sounding from their most recent release. My first few songs were instrumental tracks that I would make on my iPad, and they were often very lo-fi hip-hop-sounding. However, as you said, I still incorporate methods and patterns I've used since I first started creating "in my arms," despite the upgrades in gear and knowledge. What are you most looking forward to achieving for the rest of 2023? I'd say what I'm looking forward to the most is performing, evolving my image and sound as an artist, attracting new fans and people who connect to me and my music, and continuing to articulate my thoughts and experiences into my art. • These Boots Are Made For Rocking, And Healthy Junkies Are Sure To Bring The Edge

The UK is home to the punk rock styles of the charismatic and edgy group Healthy Junkies. Known for their dynamic sound that blends glimmers of grunge, new wave, garage rock, and goth, creating a sound like no other, they're back with the latest sonic and visual release of "These Boots Are Made for Walking." The amplified rendition of this record comes to us on a sizzling platter that's served firsthand through our speakers. Layered with chugging guitar riffs, a resonant bass line that keeps the tightly knit percussion company, and an unkempt energy that propels this song beyond what we could expect, Healthy Junkies give us something we didn't think we could experience with this sultry, Nancy Sinatra original. A fuzzy ambiance keeps "These Boots Are Made for Walking" just out of reach, all while the majority of the components smack you in the face as they ooze a boisterous attitude that doesn't entirely lose the original's alluring way about it. Nina Courson's unapologetic performance adapts the classic tenors in an unruly way that further intensifies the unruffled and carefree energy the lyrics of this song hold. Guitarist and vocalist Phil Honey-Jones says, "Nina heard the Nancy Sinatra version of, "These Boots Were Made for Walking" in a movie called Now and Then, when she was 13. The song proclaimed itself into her psyche." This sounds like a great reason to breathe life back into it despite the questionable integrity this song once held over the band. "When we first introduced the song into the Healthy Junkies live set, it almost broke up the band at the time. This was the original Healthy Junkies lineup in 2014. But, Nina persevered and kept the song in the live show until finally recording it in 2018, with myself on guitars and backing vocals, Dave Whitmore on bass, and Tony Alda on drums." We're glad this song became what it is today with Healthy Junkies at the helm of this nostalgic yet reinvented execution of an old-school classic. Get your boots ready and start dancing to this reimagined rock n roll favorite, "These Boots Are Made For Walking." Welcome to BuzzMusic, Healthy Junkies! To finally hear this long-awaited record is such a treat. From the song itself to the music video, you place such a bold twist on this version of the song. How did you make it sound authentic while maintaining the integrity that Nancy Sinatra placed into it back in 1966? Thank you for your kind words, Gina. We chose a great song in the first place and simply played it in our style. Nina has a special connection to it from when she first heard it in a film in France as a teenager. Playing it live a few times before we recorded it also helped us form the dynamics in our version of this iconic tune. This song has caused quite a stir among all of you since it was introduced at the moment of release. What was the reason for this, and did it almost bring down Healthy Junkies at the time? We started playing "Boots" with our original lineup in 2013. There were already disputes in the band as regards what direction we should be taking musically between band members. The drummer and bass player wanted to go down more of a hardcore route, whereas Nina and I wanted to hold onto our pop sensibility and mix that up with some heavier music. Boots was almost the final straw for the rhythm section, and shortly after introducing the song into our live set, the band split. Between creating originals that blend pieces of you all into a new innovative creation and adapting to covers that show your take on someone's artistic expedition, what similarities and differences do you find come with the creative process approaching each style of work? We do not tend to stick to one particular style or another, so some songs will sound more punk, whereas others might be more pop, new wave, grunge, psychedelic or goth. Nowadays, it is more a question of if jam something together, whether it feels good or not. We try not to think about it too much. Some ideas work better, but we persevere and see where it takes us. We make it up as we go along. The new album will feature songs born out of jams in the studio as a band. Nina had recorded a bunch of jams on her phone from back in 2020 during lockdown. We listened back to them, then structured them, wrote the words in full, demo-d them at home before relearning them as a band and then rerecording them in a different studio. It sounds long-winded, probably because it is. But it is fun and fulfilling nevertheless. What has 2023 brought for Healthy Junkies this far? Do you find that you're setting out to do all you've anticipated at the halfway point into the year? Anything you're looking forward to still achieving? We have played many gigs and some festivals already this year. We just returned from Supporting punk legends GBH in Scotland and Newcastle yesterday. We are looking forward to playing the mighty Rebellion punk festival in Blackpool on a big stage on August 3rd then we are off to Europe in October to play in France and the Netherlands. While this happens, we have been writing and recording new songs for our next album. We are releasing a new single called Lion in a Circus soon and have made a video involving Nina as a lion fighting off a lion tamer with a whip inside a large cage. The single has 4 B sides, so it is an EP. This will be our next release and will be available to buy as a CD on our website on August 1st. We are also hosting our 3-day festival on September 1,2 and 3 in London, comprising 23 acts, including Healthy Junkies. This festival is in its 7th year and is called Punk and Roll Rendezvous. How does it feel to have this song out to the public finally? What does this mean for the creative direction of Healthy Junkies moving forward? It feels great to have the song out with a video finally; It has been a long time coming. It does not change anything regarding what direction we are going in musically but seeing as it is getting a lot of interest in the USA, I hope it will hasten our long-awaited (us) return to the States. So a geographical change may be in order soon. Instagram Facebook

Whenever you’re ready to embrace the eye of the storm, tap in and check out Spider Rockets’ “Monster of Your Dreams,” available now on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Spider Rockets! We loved the song and video for “Monster of Your Dreams;" you knocked it out of the park with the whole performance! We have to ask, where did you find the inspiration for this song? “Monster of Your Dreams” was inspired by recurring nightmares and old horror movies. Imagine being pulled under the bed by a monster and clawing on the floorboards to break your slide into the darkness—that cold terror. Then, in the morning's bright sunshine, talk about it and realize how ridiculous the dream is. Making fun of yourself and your fear, but silently, still remembering the feeling of that terror. The music video lets you see the viewer through a nightmare world. How did you decide this was the direction you wanted for the music video, and what was your favorite part of bringing that vision to life? Roman Fernandez, who we’ve also worked with for years, developed the initial concept for the music video, which centered around the bedroom sequences. Filming those scenes was quite memorable. We were in a small bedroom and had serious balancing issues trying to stand and perform on the mattress. Also, the resident dog occasionally snuck into the bedroom to check in on the chaos. Finally, the final bed scene was harder than it looked. I don’t know how we managed to coordinate the movements of four people on a bed without causing serious injury to anyone. How did Spider Rockets come to be? What’s the origin story, and do you have any particular favorite memories together as a band? Johnny and I started the group in New Jersey. I auditioned for his band and didn’t get the gig. But we started writing together and eventually assembled a duo that expanded to a full band. We’ve had some great milestones. For example, our video for “Rip Your Heart Out” won six film festival awards in the USA and abroad. Our last music video, “Casual Violence,” hit over a million views on YouTube. The reception for “Monster of Your Dreams” has been great so far! People seem to like it, and it goes over really well live. We just got off tour, which was one of the high points during the show. Some of our fans even identify with the monster, as we were told after our live set each night. I love it! What goals do you want to achieve with your music? We are so thrilled that we are reaching more people with each single and video we release! And so glad to see the reception for the new music live. Onward and upward! What’s next for Spider Rockets? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and do you have anything you want to say to your fans? We are heading into the studio for more recording and plan to release another video and single later this year. We also look forward to more touring and love meeting fans at the shows. Keep an eye out for new developments by following us on Facebook and Instagram and signing up on our email list! Instagram Facebook

  • The Slashes Continue To Carve Their Path With Their Riveting New Release “Dead Majesty”

The three-piece outfit seems to get better and better with every release. Hailing from the vibrant music scene of San Diego, The Slashes are an exciting three-piece band that exploded onto the scene with electrifying releases like "My Empty Case" and "Ripped Genes." Star-crossed musicians occupying the nexus between post-punk and border-goth have begun to blaze a bright trail since emerging on the scene, captivating audiences with riveting stage performances. With a slew of performances on the horizon, The Slashes have been more locked in than ever before, and every performance seems destined to be an unforgettable one. Having been no strangers to the stage, The Slashes have graced renowned venues across Southern California, leaving their mark on stages like The Observatory in Santa Ana, the iconic Rainbow Bar in LA, and the beloved Casbah in San Diego. The Slashes are composed of vocalist and guitar maestro Esteban Rene, the magnificent Beto Bautista on bass, and the supremely talented Carlos Robles on drums. With such a talented and hard-working crew, greatness is only a matter of time for this enchanting San Diego band. "Dead Majesty," one of The Slashes' latest releases, is a captivating performance that'll have you hanging on to every lyric Rene sings. Over a distinctly post-punk instrumental performance that evokes feelings of tension before a sweet release, The Slashes create a vast yet compelling soundscape that draws you in. With every "Run Away" Esteban sings, a sense of urgency builds and builds up before the beat suddenly cuts, leading to the feeling that the listener has abruptly woken up from a dream (or nightmare). It's a riveting release that demands your attention from start to finish, but the payoff is more than worth it. With their distinctive blend of punk and goth aesthetics and infectious energy, The Slashes are carving their path in the music world. Whenever you're ready, tap in and stream their new release, "Dead Majesty." Keep an eye out for their live performances, like their upcoming show at the renowned LA venue The Mint on July 28th, and stay cool this summer. We loved “Dead Majesty;" what a gripping track! We had to ask, what was the inspiration behind this song? Could you take us through the creative process for this release? Dead Majesty is just a swampy, two-minute banger about running away from a dead royal ( or suppressing/ ignoring your problems and starting a romance riot- (I borrowed that last lyric from No Knife, by the way). How did The Slashes come to be? Do all of you go way back, or did your paths meet later? Beto and I started as co-workers at HornBlower Cruises & Events, a charter and cruise outfit out of San Diego. We’d talk about starting a band for several years, then finally did it. Beto is from Tijuana and was raised on Banda, Rock en Español, and indie rock. Our newest member, Carlos, was introduced to us through a mutual and mystical friend. (Bidi from Matte Black). What’s your favorite part about sharing your music with the world? Our three unique and different outlooks on music are eclectic; the songs become an amalgamation of our imaginations. How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before? Also, what would you want it to be if your listeners could take one thing away from your music? Our music is ethereal with a tempered pulse, heavenly with a sinister smirk. We’ve been compared to having similar stylistics to The Jesus And The Chain, The Cure, and a nod to Interpol. But what we’d like our listeners to take away from our music is to feel an emotion of longing and euphoria of going out to a club or an art gallery and seeing something that moves you. What’s next for The Slashes? You guys have a live show at The Mint soon, right? Are any other live performances coming up? Our next show is at The Mint LA on the 28th, then to San Diego at Soda Bar on August the 4th. Artist Official Website

  • Jàlâl Aljuwaie Weaves A Cautionary Tale Of Toxic Romances On His New Release “Hate That You Love Me”

The talented singer-songwriter shows that love is complicated in his gripping new release. Born and raised in the United States, singer-songwriter Jàlâl Aljuwaie is an artist with a rich heritage, with parents from Puerto Rico and Saudi Arabia. From a young age, Jalal took his diverse upbringing to heart and displayed a keen creative spirit, beginning his musical journey early by learning to play the piano at the age of eight. However, it was in his high school years that theatre school would trigger his artistic awakening as he discovered the transformative power of music and its ability to heal the soul. On a mission to spread good vibes and positivity through quality music, we're rooting for this talented musician and burgeoning star. In 2017, Aljuwaie experienced a life-altering event by losing his best friend. He's set himself apart from his peers with his ability to connect with listeners emotionally, drawing you in with transparent lyrics that hide nothing and paint vivid pictures. After his acclaimed studio debut, "Cheers to You," marked the beginning of his musical career, he continued to refine his sound further and further, elevating an already standout listening experience. We loved "Hate That You Love Me," what an attention-grabbing new release! What was the inspiration behind this song? Were you drawing from personal experience? Thanks! This song is about a friend who started to catch feelings for me but couldn't understand their identity. I even told this person about my feelings towards him - they told me I was crazy but continued to hang out with me and even went to a wedding with me in Vegas as my wedding date. What does music mean to you, and what's your favorite part about being able to release your music? Music to me means everything. It's not only an outlet for me to express myself freely but also therapy and a release of whatever emotions I may not be able to process vocally. Music is also a dopamine release. Music is so important to our world. My favorite part about releasing music is knowing that someone in the world may be able to connect to one of my songs. Coming from such a diverse background, what were your musical influences like? Were there any artists you looked up to growing up? I grew up with my dad playing the loot. I also grew up in Saudi Arabia for a bit in my younger years, so you will hear a lot of middle eastern influence in my music alongside my mother's side, which is my Latin roots. I looked up to Myriam Farris, Gloria Estefan, Elvis Crespo, the temptations, patsy cline, Johnny Cash, Prince, Shakira, and Freddie Mercury; there were many more. What would you want it to be if your listeners could take one thing away from your music? I'm very private, but when it comes to my music, I put all of my feelings and past experiences into it, emotionally and lyrically. What's next for Jalal Aljuwaie? Your new single "Consequences" drops soon, too, right? Anything you want to say to your fans? Yes, my following single consequence comes out on July 28th. Very excited for this new sound to come out. Consequences is a raw, gritty sound I haven't ever experimented with. There are so many emotions in this song. Stay tuned for more because this is just a waterfall in the works. Very excited for the next two years of my musical journey. Instagram

  • Battle Tapes Won’t Let Their Competitive Spirit Die On “Brand New”

We can all relate to that feeling of wanting to go out on top. In the exhilarating world of video games, where virtual realms come to life, finding the perfect soundtrack is a fine art that can make or break your entire experience. Battle Tapes, a band based in Los Angeles, has firmly established themselves in the scene by changing themselves into chameleons. They’ve mastered the complex art of blending their sound to complement their projects, shifting and channeling their energy to match whichever scheme they grace perfectly. With their latest single, “Brand New,” once again making waves, this electrifying band has gone from strength to strength. With a sound described as a magnetic balance of modern touch and tradition, their rhythmic releases create an electrifying atmosphere with you on the edge of your seat. With releases featured in games as famous as “Grand Theft Auto V,” Battle Tapes’s mastery of their craft has been acknowledged by some of the most prominent players in the video game industry, a testament to their artistic ability and poise. With their latest album, “Texture,” already making waves with its release earlier this year, all signs point to Battle Tape’s continuing their gold standard for a long time. “Brand New” from the album Texture has once again demonstrated its unparalleled ability to capture the excitement and abandon of gaming while delivering scintillating rock melodies. The accompanying music video goes perfectly with the release and sees the main character fight against age and glitches and armed NPC to hold his world record on the slopes, racetrack, and dungeon. Designed with nostalgic graphics that perfectly capture the essence of Playstation’s first generation of games, it’s a blast from the past that dedicated gamers will surely enjoy. As the video ends and the glitch finally takes over, we can find solace in our protagonist going out on top. As Battle Tapes emphatically sings, “But you, keep me coming back like I was brand new” for the final time, and the instrumentals start to fade, there’s the magical feeling that things have regressed to the starting point, and your adventure can begin anew. With “Brand New,” Battle Tapes continues their impressive streak of epic compositions worthy of any game. Whenever you need a soundtrack for your next gaming session, tap in and stream Battle Tapes’s new release, “Brand New,” available now on all major streaming platforms, and also check out the wickedly nostalgic music video available on YouTube. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Battle Tapes! We loved "Brand New," we had to ask! What was the inspiration behind this release? Could you take us through your creative process? Thanks for having us! So glad you like the new single. The song originated with the opening riff our keyboardist Riley Mackin brought in one day. Once we got the drum beat behind it, it gave it this super dope strut. The rest just fell into place. With the lyrics, I always try to counterbalance any "super cool guy" vibes with something more vulnerable. It helps take the piss a bit and humanize the song. How did the inspiration for the music video come about? What was your favorite the part about seeing the vision for the music video come to life? I'd had the idea for a low poly, PS1-style graphic video in mind for a while but didn't have the right song or person to help pull it off. Luckily, this time around, we had both. A friend of mine put us in touch with the video's director, Hoolopee, and we just vibed right away. It was one of the best and easiest experiences we've had making a video—Esp one of this scale. Seeing us rendered down to these crude video game characters was hilarious. And Hoolopee did a phenomenal job creating these not-so-subtle nods to a few of our favorite games from that era. How do you think gaming and music intersect? Are all of you gamers yourselves? Music in games is like the active ingredient. In some cases, it informs you how to feel about something in the plot or clues you into the subtext of a situation. It's the thing that makes games come alive. It's also become somewhat of a new way to accidentally discover songs you might not have ever come across otherwise, like the way radio was in the past. Yes, we all are pretty big gamers. I'm really into sim racing, namely Gran Turismo. I've got a ridiculous, borderline embarrassing racing setup in my studio. Riley is currently on his 3rd or 4th run of Metroid Dread, and Pete (Drums) is playing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as I type this. How would you describe your music to someone who hasn't heard it before? That's always a tough one to answer, so I won't. But according to Chat GPT: "At its core, Battle Tapes' music is a marriage of pulsating electronic beats and infectious synth melodies, perfectly complemented by the powerful vocals that convey both emotion and intensity. Their songs often feature a mix of ethereal and gritty textures, creating an intriguing balance between atmospheric and edgy elements." What's next for Battle Tapes? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to share with your fans? We want to play a few more shows this year, festivals, etc. Some DJ sets. Maybe even tour, who knows! But I think we are itching to put out more music sooner than later. I can't tell you how grateful we are for our fans. I know it's cliche, but they are literally why we put everything we do into our work. I honestly can't express our gratitude to them enough. A million times, thank you! Instagram Facebook
