- Interview: Alexis Lynn Talks About The Magic Behind Her New Song, "Circles"
Your latest single, "Circles," really shows what you are capable of! Is there anything that inspires you to create the music you are creating? What about your sound? Hey! Thanks so much. I’m always inspired by things going on in my life or in the lives of the people around me, “Circles” is definitely from my own life experience. I find it easiest to write about things that I’ve experienced firsthand because I can talk about them from such a personal place. As for my sound, I’m inspired by music that I love and artists that I love, like Ariana Grande, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, and Mariah Carey, to name a few. I love pop and R&B, and I try to find a balance of both in my sound. Speaking of your sound this latest release has a very modern feel to it. Could you talk to us about the songwriting and production process? What was it like for this song? Thank you! I wrote “Circles" with Rachel West and Melanie Fontana while I was in L.A., and it was produced by Lindgren. I started talking to Melanie and Rachel about how I felt like my friend group was shrinking and that some of the people I had been hanging out with were “nice enough” but not real friends, and then Melanie mentioned the word “circles,” and we went from there. Lindgren had been working on the track while we started writing, and he came up with the super dope intro beat, and it just felt right. “Circles” was a song I felt like I needed to write because I had been struggling with the concept of losing friends after high school and having a small friend group, but also realizing that I would way rather have quality friends over a large group of fake ones. There is something about performing live and having the audience connect to the music on your deep level. What do you think causes this connection? Is this something you try to make happen, or just let the magic work? I think people like putting a face and a person behind the music they hear, and I think seeing that artist connected to their music when performing it live really gives the audience that extra connection to them. I always try to tell my story on stage and let people see that the words that I write are true and mean something to me, rather than just “singing” for them. Within "Circles," there are a lot of little intricate stylistic ear candy moments like certain words being affected like tape stops; was this something that was in mind during the songwriting, or did it come during the production stage? Who had come up with those ideas? Lindgren truly worked all the production magic on this one! He’s ridiculously fast and was implementing all those fun moments while we were writing and tracking the song. He always amazes me, and he absolutely killed the vibe on this track. What can we expect to see from you throughout 2020? I have so much music coming that I couldn’t be more excited about. “Circles” is just the beginning of 2020, and it’s a taste of what my sound is evolving into. I have more shows planned as well, and I definitely can’t wait for everyone to hear what I have in store! Read our full review of "Circles" here. Instagram

- Interview: Country Artist Nick Hedden Talks His New Single, “Wish You Could Be My Girl”
We’re incredibly excited to feature your hit “Wish You Could Be My Girl”. Could you share with us some of your biggest artistic influences? First off, thank you for having me as a feature! I really appreciate it. I have a vast collection of artistic influences, going back a few decades, I’d say Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Garth Brooks. Growing up, I listened to every genre of music, but I loved listening to classic rock because that was what my dad liked. So I have some artistic influences like Bob Seger and Foreigner from that genre of music. I also have a lot of current artistic influences, such as Luke Combs, Keith Urban, and Luke Bryan. I just love the way they write lyrics and what they do musically. Your description and detail are amazing. Growing up, what came easier to you; writing lyrics or writing music? I’d say writing music came to me a little easier than writing lyrics. Oftentimes I will just pick up my guitar and melodies will just pop into my head. Lyric writing is a whole different animal. I would say I have grown tremendously as a lyric writer, and the more I continue to write and hone in on my craft, the better my lyric writing continues to be. Congratulations on your bachelor’s degree! And you’re currently working on your master's, quite the accomplishments. How do you find time to fit your music career with school? It’s been tough, but it all comes down to time management. I always set time aside to work on my music because that’s what I love to do. I treat my music career like a job; although it doesn’t feel like a job, I have to put the work in to be better than I was yesterday. Just being able to find an hour or so every day goes a long way in the development of my music career and gets me one step closer to my end goal. “Wish You Could Be My Girl” has some beautiful and meaningful lyrics! Do you write mostly from experience or from a fictional standpoint? I always try to add a little personal experience to my songs, but I don’t want to make it so personal that it doesn’t relate to other people. There is a fine balance I think, and that’s what I try to accomplish. I think the majority of my songs have some sort of personal experience behind them, and I think that’s needed to truly get across the message of the song. What advice would you give to other upcoming independent artists, bands or musicians? Keep going. Hard work and dedication are needed in this industry. It’s a slow-moving industry, and fame won’t happen overnight. You have to put in the work every day, build your fanbase, and no matter how many times someone tells you “no”, just remember that its just “no” for right now. Keep looking ahead and moving forward. Believe in yourself and don’t let anyone discourage you. Listen to Nick Hedden here and read our full song review here. Instagram Twitter

- Interview: Neon Ion Talks About Her Sound, Her Love For Los Angeles, & More
This unique dance-pop sound is rooted in classic and educated practices of music. Natalie, what necessities did you have to meet when choosing the band for Neon Ion? I have had the honor of working with strong and unique musicians on this project. I chose them because they are able to be free in my music in a way that makes the live performance different from the album. And most importantly, this makes it A LOT of fun to be on stage because we create something new together. On stage is where I feel most at home and the most creative. So to have a band with great individuals that you feel free and comfortable with on stage is key. Natalie, you were originally a solo artist making incredible and unique music, just as you are now. What influenced your decision to go in this new direction with Neon Ion? Ever since I was a kid, I listened to a lot of soul and RnB. Then jazz became an all-consuming factor in my life around the age of 17. It was amazing to dive so deep into that genre. Jazz is a truly magical thing! But then I started listening to more contemporary artists and discovered acts such as Frank Ocean, James Blake, and Little Dragon. And I just fell in love with their sounds. I just felt connected to it, and it made me want to write songs in a different way. Then I met my producer Erlend Mokkelbost. We had a date where we listened to music, and we just hit it off. Writing songs just became easy, and Neon Ion was born! This new sonic direction was something I always had on the tip of my tongue, but it needed Erlend to come alive. You have been praised for your awe-inspiring live performances. What are some of the things you do while performing, to ensure a great show? It's hard to describe. I think it's this mystical energy that unravels on stage that you can never recreate. It's like chasing a utopia, and the chase makes you work hard to reach the high that you get from an amazing performance. It's the fight, the work, the interaction with the musicians on stage, and they wish to connect with the audience that makes it interesting. The bottom line is that my focus has to be sharp and on point. I have to focus on the music and not worry about stuff like if there is someone "important" in the audience from the music biz or something like that. Neon Dream was inspired by Los Angeles and the band’s love for the city. What are some of the other themes we can expect to find in your upcoming music? In my songs, there is always some melancholy, in addition to it being danceable and fun. It's like when you are in a club, dancing and crying your heart out at the same time. I am also very inspired by travelling, meeting people, and making connections. I fall in love very easily with everything, and so when I leave a place, or a tour ends, I'm always heartbroken. Does it sound weird if I say that a lot of the songs on this album are about heartbreak when I'm happily married? I'll leave it open because I don't know the answer to that yet. What can we expect to see from Neon Ion throughout 2020? A lot of exciting things are happening this year! There will be 3 more singles dropping in April, then the album Heart Echoes is released on the 8th of May. We are doing a release tour part 1 in Norway and the UK. Then in the autumn, we will do part 2. Hopefully, we will do a show in LA in the autumn. Also, I'm already writing new songs... so a lot more music is coming your way! It just feels amazing to be going out on tour again. Before I went to the studio with this music, I was touring for years with different projects. So I wasn't used to just being in the studio, not playing concerts. So I have a lot of energy to bring to the stage now. Read our full review of "Neon Dreams" here. Instagram

Natalie Sandtorv or otherwise known as Neon Ion (NO), is a modern-day fusion artist who creates beautiful high-energy RnB, Jazz, and Funk with a healthy dose of the best parts of Los Angeles. The Neon Ion project had toured across Europe and has taken residence in LA, Italy, and Berlin. The music breaths the most in nightclubs, keeping dance floors moving all night long. Neon Ion's latest single, "Neon Dreams," is a dreamy synthwave-like jazzy masterpiece. The song features Natalie's charming, honest-sounding vocals, minimalistic but high-energy drums, well-structured funky RnB chords, and an explosive chorus that propels you to move to the music. The song opens up with a super cool kazoo-like synth before going into Synthwave madness. When Natalie's vocal begins, the song suddenly feels complete as if it was the cherry on top. - Theolodge Makes His Mark On "Picture Me Rolling 2020"
Theolodge is the Rapper who follows one deciding Ethos: dreams don't work unless you do. It's an attitude you could only find from an artist who has stretched his music's influential arms out as far as Paris, the Cayman Islands, and Mumbai—where the Floridian headlined the annual Totempole Music Festival. Over the years of touring and showcasing, this smooth-versifying Emcee's nomadic disposition has garnished him a popularity destined to expand globally. With a laid-back cipher-type flow, he channels from his influences that range from Jay-Z and Kanye West to Outkast and Tu Pac. With two singles already dropping this year, Theolodge is continuing his hustle for the subjugating reign over our Summer Playlists with this year's Hip-hop offering, "Picture Me Rolling 2020." This track's opening moments provoke an incline far back in our chairs as the affecting guitar-spliced samples to provide a first impression that sticks like glue. We're not sure what to expect, but when Theolodge rifles off, "got no love for these haters, ain't no need to pretend," we know we're in for an Emcee's vexed passage through some profound and provoking wordplay. As the words leave his jaws, a sense of amassing encompasses us through a low rumble that settles into existence, and then the meaty drums lay in. Next, out of what feels like a 90's nostalgic time machine, we're transported into this Florida-based artist's mid-tempo smooth promenading verses. Here, Theolodge has raspiness in his character that polishes off his introspective—and boastful—narrative. It's not something we're surprised by. Plus, it's an attitude that he's earned as we disappear into the hooking portions of "Picture Me Rolling 2020," where the budding Emcee resounds the opening motif one more time. What's been your favorite part about touring around the world thus far, and if you could pick one place to return every year to perform in, where would you go? Just the fact of introducing new people to your music and getting to understand different cultures. Every year must hit the South of France(Cannes) When was the last time you can remember having a writer's block, and what is a routine you trust in helping you remedy that creative wall? Honestly, I can't remember cause I wake up and go to sleep with rhymes in my mind. Either hit the gym or go on a silent car drive to get the mind flowing, and after that, pen & pad. If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who do you think you would pick, and why? Kanye West production- Hov, Kendrick & J Cole They all took similar paths, and I have something in common with them. They give you a feeling you can grab in their music, and that's my focus marathon, not a sprint. When can we expect to see a video feature for some of the most recent singles you've been putting out? Picture me rolling video is already available via Facebook, and the Hallelujah video will be dropping at the end of September! #ThatsKrew Instagram

Hey Theolodge, welcome to BuzzMusic! We’re incredibly impressed by your bars and ability to rap on a beat so effortlessly. Is there anything you do to amplify your performance on a show day? Thanks for the love! Basically, I have a routine that I must keep to fill like the show will be on point...Barbershop, outfit, live on social, pre-game and go do WERK. “Hallelujah” is an extremely hype song. What was your vision for how you wanted the song to sound? I wanted a mix of old and new school vibes with punchlines and a mean bass. I wanted to take the fans on a quick rollercoaster ride to prepare them for my whole theme park. Your lyrics come from a very genuine place. What drew your inspiration for the lyrics on “Hallelujah”? I meet a lot of people, and they all say the usual, "Yeah, ill help..shoot song over," so all that talking got on my nerves and wanted to let them know 2020, I'm bout that ACTION! You’ve toured a variety of cities overseas! Is there any talk of a North American tour? Actually, we were planning a summer tour, but we're looking to partner with a few artists that share the passion the way I do. What can we expect to see next from Theolodge? You can expect to see NO DAYS OFF mentality, just being relentless and not taking "NOs" for an answer. We’ll have a major situation rather than its Endorsement or Distribution deal. All I can say is Stay Tuned and enjoy the story of an artist starting with a Dollar and a DREAM! #ThatsKrew Check out "Hallelujah" here and read our full review here. Instagram

- Theolodge Releases New Track, "Go Girl"
Welcome to BuzzMusic Theolodge! You've travelled extensively for your tours and festivals. What has been the most memorable moment or venue you've performed at? Radio City in Valencia, Spain. It was just a good time, and they were Screaming for encore after encore...just gave me different chills, unlike before. How have you honed your songwriting style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long run? My songwriting comes from the soul. If the beat doesn’t talk to me, I won't connect to it, and I feel that part is key. Once I connect with the music, it's a chef cooking. You need people to try it out, and when they do, "IT'S OVER." We absolutely love your latest release! What predominant message was integrated within "Go Girl"? What inspired you to write this track? I never really did a theme song for the ladies. I felt like I wanted all women to feel the same beauty, energy and sense of belonging as GO GIRL. Motivate all women to act and be GREAT, and plus, I grew up to Martin, lol. You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into their lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within your most recent single? When it comes to lyrics, I can always get deeper, but the point of my lyrics is to paint a picture for you to follow along to. Painting that picture is key when creating music because you want people to connect with your words. It’s all about creating an emotion. Thank you so much for talking with us about your new singles and creative process. Can you describe how your performances feel? No, thank you for having me, and my shows are full of energy. When I am on the stage, it’s like a release from all the hard work of creating. Do you enjoy live shows, or do you prefer the actual songwriting process? LIVE performance because it's authentic and a true stage to judge an artist. I'm a realist, and I like real reactions plus we can direct people to what to like, but I like making people like my MOVEMENT. Are there any live shows coming up in the near future? Shows coming up in Florida, a few out-of-state shows and getting ready to tour in Europe top of the year! It’s just a lot, but my team and I are working on my calendar, and I will keep everyone posted on what is going on with Theolodge. Instagram
