How important is social media in your career as an artist, and how do you use it to engage with your fans? It's been a great way of engaging with my audience and also discovering other artists. "Right Here" is a personal and relatable song, touching on themes of comfort, support, and the challenges of navigating life's changes. What message do you hope listeners take away from this track? We all need people here for us, especially when life gets tough. It's a simple message, but often one that people forget. What's next for Alto Key? • of persephone Walks Down The “Rainbow Road”

Atlanta-based band of persephone, fronted by singer-songwriter Sarah Rae, has gained local and international attention with their unique genre, siren rock. Their debut album, 'Bridge to Neverland,' released in early 2022, showcases Sarah's love for synthesizers, pop/punk, shoegaze, and operatic vocals, all blended together in a mesmerizing and ethereal sound. One of the standout tracks from the album is "Rainbow Road," a song that takes the listener on a journey down a path of self-discovery and freedom. The lyrics encourage the listener to break free from the mould, escape the norms, and pursue their dreams. The reference to Alice in Wonderland is apt, as the song's theme of falling down a rabbit hole of self-discovery is reminiscent of the classic tale. Sarah Rae's vocal performance is impressive, and her operatic style adds a dramatic flair to the song. The band's instrumentation is equally impressive, with sparkling guitar leads and a driving rhythm section that propels the song forward. The chorus, with its repeated refrain of "Rainbow Road," is catchy and memorable, leaving a lasting impression on the listener. The song's production is top-notch, with a crisp, clean sound that allows every instrument to shine. The arrangement is well-balanced, complementing each element to create a cohesive and powerful whole. "Rainbow Road" is an excellent representation of persephone's unique sound and style. It's a song that inspires the listener to embrace their individuality and pursue their dreams, and it does so in a way that is both uplifting and musically captivating. With their debut album and successful live shows, of persephone is a band poised for great things, and "Rainbow Road" is just the beginning. Welcome to BuzzMusic Sarah Rae! Sparkles, confetti and cheers for your latest magical drop with "Rainbow Road," a magical and dreamy song. Can you tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind the lyrics and what message you hope listeners take away from it? Thank you so much for having us! "Rainbow Road" revolves around my experience with coming into my power. I wanted to create what it sounds like to realize you’re safe. You’re free. You don’t have to be in fight or flight mode. So many people are constantly battling a fight-or-flight mentality, victim complexes, and imposter syndrome. One day I woke up and realized I was above that narrative of myself and experienced true freedom for the first time. That’s when I started writing the "Rainbow Road" album, and I hope anyone who hears its title track truly hears the sound of freedom. I want it to make the listener feel like running without aim through an open meadow, stripped naked with sparklers. The vocals and guitar work in "Rainbow Road" are particularly impressive. Can you walk us through the creative process for this song and how you approached crafting the sound and feel of it? Siren rock is my creative child that I’ve bred out of my operatic and classical training, where I blend together bright, theatrical vocals with shimmering and soaring guitars and synth work! One of my favourite things about indie rock is always when there’s a dissonant or noticeable arpeggiated guitar. Many tracks on the 'Rainbow Road' album are composed that way, but "Rainbow Road" specifically has its unique pattern written to be a driving force behind the “feeling” of freedom. I have a tendency to write the guitar lines as more of a dragging chord pattern, with the bass line arpeggiating over everything. Still, I felt more glimmers were needed for this particular song's goal! Broken chords, whether in a major or minor key, are always magical and uniquely embody feelings. As a band that has only been together for a year, what was it like recording and producing your first record, "Bridge to Neverland?" How did this experience inform the making of "Rainbow Road," and what can fans expect from the upcoming album? Our rag-tag family has a unique situation! We joined as a musical family when I was still known as the Sarah Rae project! They wanted to play my music live solely because they believed in it. As we’ve grown, named our genre-bending sound siren rock, and taken on our Persephone moniker, the one thing that has remained the same is myself composing and recording the music! Once I have the demo done, we all begin working together on it to rehearse for live shows! My experiences growing up with my live band have truly shaped how I compose all of my music now. From the beginning, we’ve created such magical live renditions of each track, and "Rainbow Road," being the brighter and better predecessor to "Bridge to Neverland," was written with a lot of inspiration from how we do every track from Bridge to Neverland in a live setting! Our listeners can expect a lot of arpeggiated guitars and bright synth driving forward messages regarding self-love, soulmates, accepting time as a partner instead of an enemy, and wondering what it is that truly makes Roger so Jolly! Your music has been described as a blend of different genres, including pop, punk, and shoegaze. How do you balance these influences to create a cohesive and unique sound, and how does "Rainbow Road" fit into this mix? I love talking about the birth of siren rock! Starting with the Sarah Rae project, I was unsure what I wanted to sound like. In my first single, Dancing Sun, I had no idea what I wanted to sound like! I was writing out of pure emotion, and whatever sound that led to is exactly how it was released. It wasn’t until I wrote one of our hit siren rock tunes, Shadow Girl, that I started to truly hone in on what I wanted our sound to be. Somewhere between our indie-pop love song full of irony, Poison Ivy, and Dancing Sun with its somewhat muted vocals full of dissonant emotions that only resolved at the end of the track soaring over the synth-like guitar. Bridge to Neverland started that track with its far more dark story and post-punk elements. I also listened to many fans' feedback about how much they loved Dancing Sun and wanted to hear a love child of Dancing Sun and Bridge to Neverland. Thus, my inspiration for the brighter, more evolved siren rock began! I wanted "Rainbow Road" to solidify what I believe siren rock is and everything it could be! I want listeners to not only be moved by the emotion of each track but also feel the urge to dance it out. I want listeners to know that when my siren rock hits their ears that it’s time to release whatever is lying dormant. "Rainbow Road" and siren rock as an entity will have you crying while dancing because you can still dance and smile even in your most emotional hour. "Rainbow Road" is just the beginning of a journey that will take listeners on a complete album of 7 journeys down the of persephone rabbit hole. Can you give us a sneak peek into what we can expect from the upcoming releases and what themes or concepts the album will explore? Absolutely! 'Rainbow Road' as an album will be released as Part 1 and Part 2, in 13 unique and aptly named tracks! During 2023, 7 tracks will be released as singles building up to the full release of Rainbow Road: Chasing Honey which will have seven tracks from "Rainbow Road" itself to an introspective track, “Jolly Like Roger,” and the message about ignoring what those who watch from afar wishing for your downfall aptly named “Glass Unicorn,” and more! In 2024, Rainbow Road: Pot o’ Gold will begin its release roll-out featuring the remaining 6 tracks, including a self-love anthem, “H.E.R.O,” standing for “Happy Ever Realistic Onward” to tracks like “Tick Tock Croc” hurdling the notorious battle we all face with seeing time as a friend instead of a foe! We are so very excited for the world to hear all of it! If you can’t tell, childhood wonder is also a frequent theme! Instagram Facebook

  • SUMWHR Mixes Up With That “Chemistry”

SUMWHR's music is a breath of fresh air in the R&B genre. As a melodic songwriter, producer, engineer, and sound architect, he's pushing all boundaries with his edgy approach to music. Hailing from Watts, a city where the system can easily swallow you up, SUMWHR learned other ways to express himself from a young age, as independence was a key factor in his youth. Previously known as Novelle Vega, SUMWHR had a bright and impactful start in the music industry. He was featured on VH1's "Black Ink Crew," which helped to catapult his career to new heights. Now, he has crafted a new melodic texture that takes listeners on a journey. His music contains endless ear candy, catchy lyrics, and melodic vibes that will leave a lasting impression. "Chemistry" is a prime example of SUMWHR's unique sound, which blends R&B and wave music with an edgy twist. The drill beat provides the driving force that gives it that edge, while his smooth vocals moonwalk across the beat, which is emphasized by its aggressive percussion and spread melodies that create a sense of tension and urgency. What sets SUMWHR apart from other artists in the genre is his ability to blend the vocals and beat them together seamlessly. "Chemistry" is a wavy bounce of an experience for all kinds of listeners and a testament to SUMWHR's ability to push boundaries in the R&B and wave music genres. Don’t miss SUMWHR's latest, "Chemistry," available now on all platforms. A warm welcome back to BuzzMusic SUMWHR! Big up on the latest drop with “Chemistry," a dynamic and complex song that blends multiple genres and influences. Can you speak to the creative process that went into crafting this track? "Chemistry" just had a different energy to me during the creation. I consciously tried to pull from other genres to blend something special. Took me a while to put my finger on how to approach this record. I’m always trying to blend the 90s vibe with the current wave, you know, and I believe it is refreshing to push the envelope. You grew up in Watts, known for its rich history in music and art. How did your upbringing shape your music and artistic vision? Where I’m from, things go left real fast; if you're not on your toes, falling behind is a reality for most. The steady grind in Watts is unmatched because everybody is out to level up. My motivation is to make it through the day, so growing up, I made it a point to do whatever it took to make it out. The stories I carry with me built the structure to write because that pain is hurried and deep but a reminder to keep pushing. I learned from many OG’s: don’t dwell on the past, and only look to the future because you can shape it the way you want to leave a mark. Your sound has been described as "wave R&B" with an edgy approach. How do you define your sound, and what sets you apart from other R&B artists? I mean, the sound is built off a healthy balance of old and new, if you get what I’m saying. I believe my sound is current but not pinpointed exactly to anyone else. Somehow I figured out how to blend dark R&Bish sound with a hip-hop/drill element to compliment my textures. Listening to my music is a journey through desperation, anxiety, love, hate, pressure and, most importantly, growth. Lyrically, "Chemistry" is introspective and reveals a deep understanding of relationships. Do you find your songwriting therapeutic, and how do you translate your personal experiences into relatable lyrics? Man, I think my music is very therapeutic, to be honest. When writing songs, I feel I could be direct and honest because someone else feels the same way in the world. The steps I take are how I could create something captivating but relatable in specific ways, and what I’ve learned over time is people want to hear the real direct message without watering it down. So when I’m writing, it’s like I’m the listener; if it doesn’t resonate, I redirect. My approach is to act as if we are conversing with each other, and honestly, it works in most cases. The process is always fun but a battle as well. As a multifaceted artist with experience as a producer and sound architect, are there any other areas of the music industry you'd like to explore in the future? I’m on this journey and curious to see where it leads me in the long run. I’m just excited for the future, as we all should be. I’m putting all my energy into leaving a legacy in any way possible through music. Open to the opportunities that may enter my life. Instagram Twitter

  • EM$o Takes Us Back To The "Dark Rooms”

EM$o's latest single, “Dark Rooms,” is a poignant and uplifting tribute to the woman who turned his life around. After a difficult life in the streets, the Swiss Reggaeton artist struggled with depression and alcohol addiction. Days would pass, and he would do little more than drink in his home to numb the pain. But everything changed when he met someone special who showed him that moments of happiness were achievable while sober. She empowered him to get healthier, better, stronger, and more motivated. “Dark Rooms” shares EM$o's personal journey of redemption, offering a glimmer of hope to anyone who may be struggling. The reggaeton track starts with melancholic tones, mirroring the artist's state of mind before his life changed. But as the bright backbeat kicks into the flow, the instrumentals warm around the shift in lyrical tone, representing the new chapter in EM$o's life. The song takes the listener on an emotional journey of a lifetime in just three minutes. The official music video shot and produced by Tec. and Film artfully unravels as the ultimate redemption arc. It follows EM$o's mental journey from a life epitomized by insular isolation and addiction to finding the motivation to change under the influence of the special woman who turned his life around. The video visually represents the song's message, reminding us that we can all start a new chapter if willing to turn the page. EM$o's dedication to his craft is evident in his creative control over the single, highlighting his passion for music. Overall, "Dark Rooms" is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates the transformative power of music. Welcome to BuzzMusic EM$o! We truly connected with the message on Your latest single, "Dark Rooms" How did it feel to open up about your struggles with addiction and depression in your music? Hey BuzzMusic, Thank you very much for having me. Music is the only way how I express myself. I am just another man like many others who doesn't talk about his past with other people; I would rather do that with music, which helps in moments of crisis. I still struggle with depression, but at least I managed to fight off my alcohol and drug addiction; I have been clean for over a year now. Can you tell us more about the person who inspired "Dark Rooms" and how they helped you turn your life around? "Dark Rooms" was inspired by my girlfriend. Before we started dating, I was an absolute mess. Lonely, lost and wasted are the three things that described me best after I left street life for good. I often found myself with my brain and a bottle of alcohol in "Dark Rooms," trying to fight off my demons. She was like a silver cross for the vampire inside me; the addiction had just vanished. I had no more desire for alcohol with her presence; I just wanted joy and happiness. You've spoken before about how music became a therapy for you. What role does music play in your life, and how has it helped you cope with difficult times? Music still is my form of therapy. Creating music helps me forget all my problems and gives me a moment of silence in the storm inside my head. What have been some of the biggest challenges you've faced as an artist, and how have you overcome them? My heaviest challenge in the beginning, was the correct pronunciation of my lyrics in English; I live in Switzerland, a German-speaking country with a weird accent. Rapping and singing in English without people hearing my accent was a serious challenge as I first had to learn to speak English fluently and then get rid of my german accent. Then I had serious difficulties mixing the songs correctly so my music Engineer Slade Templeton could master them and make them sound good. This eventually faded as I took some classes in mixing with the Music Engineer Streaky. The challenge I'm currently facing is having the right exposure to the right people to grow my fanbase. But slowly, the fanbase is growing as I have gained over 20 Followers in the last 2 weeks and had some placements in big Spotify Playlists. Looking to the future, what can fans expect from you regarding new music or upcoming projects? They can expect more music, music videos, merch, and content, and I'm currently looking for places to perform as well. The next song is coming out on the 10th of march 2023, and it will talk about my first date with my girlfriend in a dancehall type of beat. Instagram

My music comes solely from personal experience, and this song, in particular, came from a nickname my mom had for a guy I disliked that she did not think was suitable for me. I try to be very specific in my writing because it helps me through those scenarios and discovers that other people can relate. The music video for "I Don't Hate U" features several outfits and personas for you to embody. How did you approach creating these distinct characters, and what do they represent in the context of the song? The music video was really fun to shoot. I styled myself, and the different girls represented different facets of my personality. I guess, in some way, it may be the desire that we sometimes have to change ourselves for the person we’re with or when we’re young, and we have a crush on someone that maybe our parents think is unsavoury. We don’t care what anyone thinks; we will do whatever it takes to get that person to like us or pay attention to us. This is not the healthiest mindset, but the music video should be lighthearted and goofy. "I Don't Hate U" incorporates country and pop music elements, creating a unique sound that's all your own. What drew you to this style of music, and how do you think it helps you tell stories more effectively? I’ve always loved country music since I was little. My dad played it for me in his truck, and I love the storytelling of country music. It’s clever and honest, and real. Many lyrics in "I Don't Hate U" are playful and lighthearted, despite dealing with some weighty themes. Can you speak to the importance of using humour and levity to convey serious ideas in your music? I love a serious song like "The House that Built Me," but I also like the cleverness and humour you could have in country music. So I think sometimes it’s important not to take yourself too seriously, this song, for example. “I Don't Hate U" is a song many people can relate to, as it touches on the universal experience of balancing personal desires with familial obligations. How do you hope listeners will connect with the song, and what message do you hope to impart through its lyrics? I hope that listeners will connect with the song, and even if they don’t, I hope they think it’s a good time and fun to sing along to. I have had moms, daughters and dads come up to me and say that they can relate to this song and laugh about Little arguments they’ve gotten into with their kids about not favouring their partner or crush. The video is a must-see for anyone looking for a fresh take on hip-hop and a taste of California's laid-back lifestyle. Welcome to BuzzMusic Kirill. Blunts up to another banger in the bag with "Hollywood," which has a distinct sound incorporating elements of hip-hop, trap, and pop. Can you tell us about your musical influences and how they shape your creative process? I LOVE Hip-Hop music! My influences go from Wu-Tang & Mobb Deep to Lil Wayne & Future. At the time I was making “Hollywood,” I was listening to Russian artist “FACE,” and his music inspired me to try doing something in my mother tongue. Living in Canada then, I wasn’t making much content in Russian, so it became my mission to create something valuable in my first language. I’m letting the universe guide me in creation, and as I was already set to go back to LA, “Hollywood” took form naturally. The music video for "Hollywood" takes viewers on a visual journey through California's most iconic vibes. What inspired you to feature these locations in your video, and how did you choose them? We filmed the video at Griffith Park and El Matador beach in Malibu. I fell in love with Malibu at first sight, and I wanted to bring that feeling to the audience with that video. I’m a sunset fiend, so having it over the ocean was imperative! I’m also a big Baywatch fan, so filming in Malibu made me feel like Mitch! Your music is known for blending multiple languages and cultures, including English, French, and Russian. How do you see your unique style and message resonating with audiences worldwide? I feel like different languages and cultures can keep people apart. We often think that those “different” from us are dangerous. I have lived in four countries (Russia, Israel, Canada & USA) and from my experience, people from all over are the same. Yes, there are cultural differences, but bottom line is that people want to love and be loved. By combining antagonistic languages and cultures in my music (ex., English (American) & Russian), I want to showcase that even though the world tries to portray us as enemies, we are more alike than different. I like to say I speak only one language, the truth. The lyrics of "Hollywood" touch on themes of a raw lifestyle in a world that never changes. Can you speak to the role of personal experiences and struggles in your life and music? It’s a recurring theme in my music. As I’ve lived in different countries with different cultures, I always felt like an outsider everywhere I went. To me, the creation helps me process everything I’m going through. I’ve been an immigrant everywhere I went, and my home country is at war, but I’m not the only one in that situation. I try to motivate everyone around the world who feels like a refugee because even though we feel different and our challenges may not be understood by our peers, we can always overcome our difficulties and prosper. It’s all about resilience. What are your long-term career goals and aspirations as an artist who has already accomplished so much? I don’t overthink it. I create whatever feels right in my heart and go wherever the universe sends me. Instagram

The song's powerful guitar work and ethereal vocals combine to create a sense of otherworldliness throughout the album. The album's dreamy instrumentals, thoughtful lyrics, and emotive vocals create a profoundly moving and memorable listening experience. This album will stay with listeners long after the final notes fade. Sail away with this one out everywhere. Welcome to BuzzMusic Denny Von Braun! Cheers to all the levels you hit with "Irrational Fashion," a unique and intriguing title for an album. Can you explain the inspiration behind this title and how it relates to the themes explored in the album? Besides loving how those words sound together, the irrational lyric fashion was about casting away negative thoughts and doing what I love for me and no one else. As the album title speaks to freedom and nonconformity, who cares if it is a fashion faux pas to change up styles and genres mid-album. Like a tailor with a dream, I made the dress, or in this case album, I wanted to make The album features a variety of musical styles and influences, ranging from indie rock to folk to 80s-inspired pop. How did you approach creating a cohesive sound for the album, despite these diverse influences? Unlike my first release, where I had that specific new retro sound in mind, this time around, I let whatever inspirations I was feeling come out; I didn't think about making a cohesive album or making my songs sound a certain way; I let each song be what it wanted to be. Once I put all the little irregular pieces together for the first time, I heard something that was truly just me. So this time around, the theme was Denny. Many of the songs on "Irrational Fashion" explore transformation and personal growth themes. Can you discuss how your experiences and personal journey influenced this album's writing and recording process? I wrote most of the songs on Irrational Fashion during the thing, lockdown. During this time, I didn’t treat myself right. Where am I going? What am I doing? I got sick. There were a lot of ups and downs. In the past, I wouldn’t typically write songs about my real-life experiences directly; I’m a fan of metaphor and wordplay. However, while writing songs like "Farewell" and "Make Belief," I felt compelled to speak about how I felt in those moments. It did feel a little scary to put those thoughts into lyrics so plainly and then release them to the world, But now it feels liberating. The tracklist for 'Irrational Fashion' includes a range of moods and emotions, from upbeat and energetic tracks like "Babies" and "Magic" to more introspective and melancholy songs like "Farewell.” Can you speak to the process? It's no secret I love the music of the 80s even though I missed that decade by two months; I think my goal when making music is always to make something fun like it was from that era, but what truly inspires me is the first few notes that ring out when you let go of the world and play your instrument. Sometimes it is that fun dancey groove, and other times it can bring out something I didn’t even realize I was feeling. I think music is magical in giving you ideas and stories from some well-organized frequencies. With two full-length albums under your belt, what are your goals and aspirations for your music career moving forward? I love to play. I want to get out there and play some live shows. But regardless of how many people I can get to listen to my songs or come out to my shows, as long as I can continue to write music that I like and that makes me feel happy, I will consider myself successful.
