- Pulsar Radio Gives Us Glimmers Of The Galaxy With Their Space Rock Stylings
Like a beacon of light in the darkest reaches of our galaxy, Pulsar Radio's rock n roll transmission has finally arrived on planet earth and is the brainchild of the multifaceted N8 Curtis. A singer, songwriter, drummer, and producer, it was after drumming, recording, and touring that N8 wanted to create a Space Rock project inspired by David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Bad Religion, and Radiohead. Pulsar Radio's musical foundation is primarily a duo built on various lead guitarists from N8's previous bands and is accompanied by key member vocalist/keyboardist Fabiola, "Fabulous Tombs," in the majority of their songs, thus adding an ethereal atmosphere and rounding out the overall sound of the band. Gearing up for the release of their debut EP, "Interstellar Sunday," Pulsar Radio teases this forthcoming release by dropping their first three singles. As we take our attention to the individualistic energy brought forth from these records, we anticipate the inimitable features that will grace the project like Leo Mintek, Johnny Marquez, and Ryan Bertolami. Kicking things off with what will be the EP's title track, "Interstellar Sunday," Pulsar Radio immediately ups the ante with a gritty energy that's amplified through our speakers. The distortion in the boisterous guitar riffs adds an abundance of texture that fortifies the grooves set in place. The unkempt percussion patterns also accompany the grunge-like ambiance welcomed dearly in rock n roll. Pulsar Radio emanates a brilliant scope of Space Rock in their jurisdiction as we latch onto the galaxy-inspired lyrical motifs performed. Bopping along to the music, we quickly find ourselves headbanging to this electric hit which features Leo "Maximum Collabo" Mintek from NuFolk Rebel Alliance and Super Deaf in Brooklyn, NY. A record also featuring the talents of Leo Mintek happens to be Pulsar's smooth and enticing atmosphere cast out in "We Are Not Alone." Slowing down the tempo and impactfully radiating a soothing ambiance amongst listeners, we hear the abstract songwriting depict a vivid tale of us not being alone in the huge scope of the universe. The blues-esque styling of the guitar riffs carries an intriguing sense of captivation. We love how the futuristic elements of the Space Rock genre come pouring through the speakers in such a magnetic manner. Leading us into the final chorus, passionately professed and a stellar guitar solo, Pulsar Radio knows how to manage the moods at hand as they create emotional and thought-evoking music. "Sea Of Dreams" is the third and final single that Pulsar Radio has decided to tease before the EP release of "Interstellar Sunday." The riveting soundscape creates a sense of intrigue in an impeccably balanced universe that sits between the last two records heard. We love how PUlsar Radio keeps us on our toes and now offers up a rhythm that has us tapping our toes into the chorus before we join them and belt it out at the top of our lungs. Creating yet another mood for us to feast on, "Sea Of Dreams" features the lush ruffs of Johnny Marquez from the Los Angeles band Vattica. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Pulsar Radio, and congratulations on the upcoming EP release of "Interstellar Sunday." We love the tracks that you've released so far! Each has its own unique place in rock n roll, and we admire that. What has been the main concept you took on when creating the songs for "Interstellar Sunday?" N8: Hey Buzz Music! Thanks so much, that really means a lot! The main concept for this EP is going on an interstellar journey. It's really a very special EP to me and was written as a way of coping with all the stress of being in quarantine during the peak of the pandemic. I'm really inspired and humbled by the vastness of the cosmos and I tried tapping into the sounds and consciences of the universe. These songs were not only very therapeutic for me to write but I feel it was a positive way to bring a more hopeful message to everyone thru music during such uncertain times. Fabiola: For me, the concept of the EP is about persevering in a world that is full of uncertainty, tragedy, desperation, and loss. Learning to become stronger, independent, and stand our ground. It's about the fight within ourselves and the constant struggles deep within our hearts as we hope for something better. Demanding humanity to finally take accountability and stop destroying the planet and each other. Realizing that we cannot be the only life that exists and romanticizing wisdom from beyond the stars. What has been the best part about creating this project with the features you have brought on? How did these collaborations come to be? N8: One of the best parts has been collaborating with all the musicians I've worked with in other bands throughout the years. Brilliant guitarists, Leo Mintek (from Nu Folk Rebel Alliance and Outernational) on We Are Not Alone and Interstellar Sunday, Johnny Marquez (from Vattica and Outernational) on Sea Of Dreams, and Ryan Bertolami (from Nine 2 Life and The Maension) on Open Up Your Mind. Most importantly, I think working closely with core bandmate Fabiola was the most amazing. Her keyboards and vocals really help round out the EP's overall sound and vision. In your own words, what is the main message that you hope your audience can take away from this EP? We hope this EP makes people think less about themselves and more about space, science, and the bigger picture. It seems humanity has become so complacent with our own daily lives that the things that we see and hear every day don't seem to affect us anymore. It's like we have become comfortably numb and so used to accepting the world and life for what it is that we forget that we have options and we can make our own decisions every day. We all have a choice and can change our lives, improve ourselves, change the world, be more compassionate, speak out and fight for injustices and all the things that should matter. We want this EP to give everyone the strength to do all this and give hope for a more positive future here on earth. Out of the three songs currently released, which one happens to be your favorite? What is your special connection to that track? Fabiola: We are not alone is the one that really stands out for me because of the duality of the title. We can't be the only life forms. They are probably walking among us. Especially with all the progressions in science, technology, and medicine. On the other hand, no matter how lost and alone we feel at times there's always someone with us in our hearts, or in spirit or someone out there who cares." N8: If I had to choose one, I would say Sea Of Dreams. It's about losing someone you love and who is really close and important to you. For me, it was my Grandma and most recently my Uncle. As eternal as the sea, their memory will always live on thru us and thru the music we make. How have you grown as an artist from your first song release to now? N8: I feel with each new song we write we grow a lot. From Sea Of Dreams to We Are Not Alone to Interstellar Sunday and the additional two new songs on the EP Space Necessity and Open Up Your Mind. It was an emotional journey writing them and a growing experience for everyone involved in making this record. You can also hear this growth on the EP and I think it takes you the listener on an interstellar musical journey from start to finish! What's next for you? We are going back to the studio this summer to record two new singles Mother Earth and Father Skye which will be on a new EP set for release on Earth Day 2023. We are also working on a tour in the states in support of Interstellar Sunday at music festivals and key venues and hope to tour Europe soon as well! Instagram Facebook

Jacob Giaimo, a well-versed, deeply honest singer-songwriter from Orlando, FL., is not new to the music scene. He started playing guitar and writing his songs at a young age. Now in West Hollywood, CA., he's been playing at venues all over the Los Angeles area. Jacob Giaimo takes inspiration from his favorite bands and solo artists, including George Ezra, Bob Dylan, and Ed Sheeran, to name a few. Apart from his musical influences, Jacob's inspiration comes from his home and family. His insightful, guitar-driven songs will grab your attention and make you a fan at first listen. Holding especially true in his latest single release, "Take Care," the poignant tune has us delving into relationships from the perspective of Jacob Giaimo. Jacob Giaimo has us immediately hooked with an authoritative presence conveyed through the projection of a voice bellowing with tales to tell. Driving home a narrative rich in the theme of growing incredibly close to someone and looking to feel comfortable and looked after with them, the relatability that comes from this touches us profoundly. A master at creating atmospheres of feeling, Jacob Giaimo keeps us wanting more. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Jacob Giaimo, and congratulations on the release of "Take Care." This song gives us a sense of ease that can't be matched. Was there a particular moment or story that inspired the creation? Hi, thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’d say there wasn’t one single moment that inspired the creation of the song. But that it’s a song that was inspired by a collective of individual moments, throughout the course of my life, that catered to the message of being by someone’s side through good times and difficult ones. How does it feel to have "Take Care" out to the public? Do you get a sense of closure with each release? It feels really good! I knew when I wrote it that it was a special song for me and having it out to the public is special for many reasons. Primarily because I’m so thrilled for listeners to hear my sister Jessica’s voice for the first time. This song is a duet that wouldn’t have the same emotional pull if it wasn’t for her amazing performance. Could you please shine a light on the creative process when bringing this song to life? Of course! I began writing it in the same way that I write most of my music. I had the music part finished first and then I wrote the lyrics. Once I started on the lyrics, it was clear to me what the message of the song was going to be. Sometimes as a writer a song will come so quickly and naturally and this was one of those. Once finished, I contacted my younger sister to ask if she’d like to sing on the track and she agreed. I also contacted my close friend, Jake Biller, to play lead guitar on it and that brought the song to a new level. What is the main message you hope your audience can take away from "Take Care?" The message is to be there for your loved ones. It’s not always easy but the reward is so great. What's next for you? I’m currently working on a third studio album to be released by the end of this year. I hope everyone enjoys it. Instagram Facebook

Face the music and don't "Run Away" from experiencing such a needed visual and lyrical concept within Star2's latest single and music video, now available on YouTube and all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to Buzz Music, Star2. We genuinely appreciate the sense of urgency you’ve brought to your recent single and music video for “Run Away.” What inspired you to put everything else aside and write a song about the world’s ongoing tragic events? Thank you for interviewing me! “Run Away” happened after I spent many weeks up in LA writing music. It was during the pandemic and specifically during the Black Lives Matter protests where the song took root. The hook just poured out. At critical times in my life, I literally have wanted to “run away” to safety; I have also felt “fuck the world” – both part of the hook. I was born in a refugee camp, Mae La, in Thailand on the border with Myanmar. My people, the Ka-ren people of Burma have experienced genocide. My family walked 500 miles through the jungle to reach our camp…one of nine, with 55,000 people…after soldiers attacked their village, killed people, and burned it to the ground. The camp is surrounded by barbed wire, guards, and guard dogs. There are land mines outside the camp in the jungle. There is very little food. We receive rice and fish paste once a month. We go into the jungle to kill small animals and birds with slingshots, pick fruit and dig up roots for more food. We fetch water every day. There is no electricity, bathrooms, or paved roads. At age six, my grandma was chosen by lottery to go to the United States with her four kids. My mom abandoned me in the camp as a baby and my grandma took care of me; I went with my grandma to the U.S. We arrived in City Heights, San Diego – a place where Vietnamese refugees settled in the 1970s. It’s in Southeast, San Diego, (“Daygo”) a poor area with poverty, crime, drugs, and gangs. My grandma’s oldest son, my uncle, got addicted to drugs and went to jail. My grandma left before sunrise to pick mushrooms to support us. I was left in charge of her three youngest children and began fighting in the neighborhood streets and getting in trouble. My life has been one of continuous upheaval and danger since I was born. I wanted to share my own history and the story of other people all over the world who have to run for their lives from violence. I wanted to share the feeling that the world is against you. I also wanted to address homelessness, and the environmental destruction we have caused our world. At some point, we have to rise up and demand that our society changes. We saw this with the Black Lives Matter marches. We see it with the incredibly brave people in Ukraine. How did you come up with the conceptual scenes in the music video for “Run Away?" Did you have anyone help you out during this process? I laid out the scenes for the music video after scouting locations where we could project news images. Initially, my producer, Chico Bennett, and I thought about using a white screen…but we found an interesting LED warehouse in Compton, California. They manufacture LED panels that project moving images on the outside of high-rise buildings, restaurants, and high-end stores. In New York City, they show images of surfing and the beach in larger-than-life dimensions that literally stop people on the street. They have a showroom in the warehouse to show customers their panels in action – we took a tour and had the idea of throwing up the insane images of everything we had been experiencing – the border patrol agents whipping Haitian immigrants; the Black Lives Matter protestors getting beaten with batons; the tornadoes in Kentucky that wiped out entire neighborhoods because of climate change; the seas of homeless people in LA in other parts of the US – and using it for the video. We created a reel of these images in a loop and set them to the song track. When we filmed the video in the warehouse and saw the images projected onto the LED panels, larger than life, we all froze. Several on our team started to cry. It was incredibly powerful and very sad too. What did you want the viewer to take away from the music video “Run Away?" What impact did you want the video to have on your audience? I made the video as a tribute to all those experiencing injustice in the world. I wanted the audience to react to the injustice, inhumanity, and the fucked-up state of the world. I wanted to explore what we witnessed, experienced, and felt emotional -- and to ask everyone to consider how it could be different and how we could fix it. At the end of the video, I ask everyone to pray for peace in our world. I wear a sweatshirt in the video with a peace sign. I am the narrator who watches society’s horrors on an old tv set. There are scenes of my Ka-ren people fighting back against the Burmese Army who massacred them. I wanted to include this footage in solidarity with them and acknowledge their continued struggle. I also wanted to be filmed in my traditional Ka-ren shirt in the video and on the thumbnail advertising it. We added footage of Putin and Russia’s horrifying bombing and shelling of civilian neighborhoods in Ukraine just before we finished production. What does ‘conscious rap’ mean to you? Why do you feel it’s important to raise awareness and shed light on worldwide issues within your music? Conscious rap is music that sheds light on social issues. I think most of Tupac and his music but also Ice Cube. It brings awareness to what’s happening and what’s wrong in the world. We have experienced shared trauma with the pandemic and the fucked-up state of the world over the past few years. Depression and anxiety have skyrocketed, especially with kids my age, and people just can’t take any more. I think everyone relates to the images of injustice, the revolting effects of our greed and waste ruining the planet, and our inhumanity that shows up in wars, poverty, homelessness, and police brutality. At some point, we have to rise up and stop tolerating injustice. It’s in our power to change the world if we do it together. What’s next for you? My six-track EP, Real Life, which includes the song “Run Away” drops on May 13th. It includes features with Luh Kel, Lil Poppa, and $tupid Young, the Asian rapper from Long Beach. My song with $tupid Young, Big Bands, includes a dope animated video by Serbian animator Lubomir Atan. I began making animated videos during the pandemic when it was difficult to film and really like the videos for some of the tracks. I have another EP already finished, New Me, with features with Soulja Boy, and more songs with Lil Poppa, and $tupid Young. We are filming the music videos over the next few months. There are some dance and club bangers on that EP also. I am performing this summer to support my Ka-ren people in benefit performances in the Midwest where there are large Ka-ren refugee populations. We are donating the money we make to the refugee camps. I am finishing up my next EP/album to drop in early 2023. Lots of great music coming! Instagram Facebook

Satisfy your cravings for an emotionally rich and relatable heartbreak anthem with Kel Adore's latest single, "Happy Again," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome back to BuzzMusic Kel Adore. We really feel that emotion and strife you've put into your latest single, "Happy Again." What inspired this vulnerable and heartfelt piece? It makes me so happy to hear you can feel the emotion in this song! That was a huge goal in the writing process. I was inspired by that feeling when you’ve just had your heart crushed, but you aren’t quite ready to let go yet. My first heartbreak was especially difficult because even though I knew it wasn’t going to work out, I held on for so long just hoping that maybe one day the stars would align. Spoiler alert: they didn’t. I have nothing but love for all my past relationships, but I have had to learn some really hard lessons along the way. What was it like writing such personal lyrics for "Happy Again?" Was it easy for you to convey those emotions and be so open? In the writing room, I have no boundaries. Any experiences I have had, my friends/family have had, my co-writers have had, or even THEIR friends have had is fair game. It’s funny because once you start opening up you realize how common these “personal” things actually are. Going through heartbreak can feel so isolating when in fact it is one of the most universal feelings. I’ve been processing my emotions through songwriting ever since I can remember, so for me, it is second nature to pour my heart and soul into my songs. I know a song is special if it makes me cry while I am writing it, and this is definitely one of those songs. Did you work alongside any producers, artists, or musicians when creating "Happy Again?" What was that process like? I co-wrote this song with my producer, Brett Pemberton. The original idea sparked from the very simple chorus and we built around that. Brett pushes my songwriting skills and provides the perfect feedback to elevate the song. The magic comes through in the revisions. Once we finished the lyrics and melody we dove into perfecting the track. The icing on the cake was the mandolin and 12-string guitar. What overall atmosphere did you want "Happy Again" to have? How did you want your audience to feel when listening? When we were dreaming up the idea for this track we were very inspired by Catalina Island. I had recently visited for the first time and my producer previously lived on the island for 6 months. I wanted “Happy Again” to be very upbeat, mystical, and tropical sonically, yet have this contrast of really devastating lyrics. I hope it makes my audience want to dance and then maybe want to cry because that rollercoaster of emotions is what heartbreak feels like. Instagram Facebook

Channel your inner "Golden Baby" with Stellan Perrick's exciting debut single, now available on all digital streaming platforms, here. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Stellan Perrick. Congratulations on releasing your groovy debut single, "Golden Baby." Why did you want this song to be your first official release? How does it represent you? Thank you. "Golden Baby" is a very personal song for me, it is based on my own personal story which is a little dark. But the idea was to take that darkness and make it somehow enjoyable. That's why even though it has very dark and emotional lyrics, it sounds like a dance track. At a very low point in my life, I felt very worthless, feeling like everyone is somehow better than me, cooler than me, how they got it all together better than me. I made the song after realizing I was the golden baby, and I tried to connect to people who felt like I did through this song, making them realize they are golden babies too!! What inspired the conceptual and honest lyrical content in "Golden Baby?" What message or theme did you want to get across? I felt unlucky, pretty much my whole life. I was upset with the whole world seeing how things are just unfair, like good people having the most troubles, attractive people being nicely treated compared to others, people born in economically better places than where I was born, people born with healthy childhoods with all needs met, people who seem to connect with people so easily while I struggle so much to do so….. many things like this, although I don’t know why, I was upset, that it was unfair and that some people have it better off than others. Because as humans, we all feel the same things, but, why is it that someone who is born in a rich family gets to live well and someone who is born in a poor family has barely any money to meet his needs? I was very very upset with that and many other things like this….. Because I was jealous, and I can say that because that is exactly how I felt. I wanted to be good-looking like all those other kids, I wanted to have all the money those rich kids get to enjoy, I wanted to have a big house that my friend gets to enjoy because I don’t see any difference. Yes, I didn’t work for it, but neither did he! Or anyone for that matter. We just say that it's luck, but I was upset because why isn’t it that I was given that luck? Why not me? Why wasn’t I born with blonde hair and blue eyes? Why wasn’t I born with my parents being filthy rich? Why can’t I connect to people just like others who seem to do it so easily? I didn’t have answers to all of these questions, which is why I became very upset. I was disappointed because I thought the world was unfair. I thought if you are lucky, you are a ‘golden baby’ and that's the only way you can be born into all those things you wish for. Whatever it is, like looks, where you are born, place, how happy you are, etc… So all those people who I saw as ‘lucky’ I thought that they were chosen, like they are lucky because God chose them, and they are ‘golden babies’ and I’m not because I wasn’t lucky that I could enjoy all that, God chose them and not me. But I spent time with myself and God, I learned more about how Gold is formed. Natural Gold, Sun is not enough to synthesize gold. Enough energy to form gold only comes from star explosions in a supernova. These are extreme conditions, and it’s a lot of pressure and energy from which Gold gets formed. I started relating that to all the difficulties I had, and it made sense that they were all in a way, extreme conditions, lots of pressure and energy, which hurt a lot, but! I realized that real gold is formed exactly like that! So in other words, it’s not those other people who are golden babies, IT'S ME! They are all gold plated, not real gold, I didn’t realize that God was giving me all those difficulties as energy to turn me into a real ‘Golden Baby!’ So basically, I am the real 'golden baby!' How did you want to make the listener feel when experiencing the bright and groovy atmosphere in "Golden Baby?" I made this song for people who feel unlucky, who feel like they have too many difficulties and that God is being unfair to them, people who feel lonely because nobody can be related to their struggles, people who feel like their worthless, people who don’t want to keep living feeling like everyone is privileged except for them. It’s a message to them saying that it’s not everyone else, it's YOU! You are the real golden baby! God loves you so much! It’s not everyone else, ITS YOU!!! Exactly you. And I, through my journey of loving myself, made this song for people who have felt like I did at one point So that people would never have to feel like how I felt. It is my message of love to each and every one of them. How long did it take to create the entire production and instrumentals for "Golden Baby," considering that process was done solo? The song’s lyrics, production, instrumentation, etc… were all happening simultaneously. It took about 2 months, and another month for the work from my producer (Xavi Blanch), the guitar players’ recordings, and lastly, the mastering. The song was finished fairly quickly, it was the production that took quite some time. What's next for you? I am working on my biggest project ’’MOON DANCE,’’ if all goes well, it has the potential to be one of my best works yet. I am super excited to work on it! I’m planning to release an album after releasing a few singles, the album title now is ‘’NAUGHTY 33,’’ I’m not sure when it can be released but once finished, will definitely be out in a big release with videos and more. You’ve truly chilled us to the bone with your latest single, “Autumn Tears.” What moments or experiences led you to create this honest piece? Hi there, thank you for having me! And I appreciate the compliment! It warms my warm to know you love the track as much as I did creating it. I wrote “Autumn Tears” about a toxic relationship I was in a couple of years ago. We were living such an unhealthy cycle for about a year. And after being mistreated for so long, I finally had the courage to break the chain. After our breakup, he went off the radar. So, seeing him for the first time in years made many emotions and memories resurface, and I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. I felt that it was extremely important to write this song as far as I can tell it because, at the end of it all, each story comes with three sides. And that’s basically it! I wrote “Autumn Tears” about how the relationship affected one another and its fallout… all of that being cautious and fair with all three sides of the story: mine, his, and the truth. What sort of listening experience did you want to provide with “Autumn Tears?” Did you want to give listeners a lush and emotional lullaby they can relate to? My priority whenever I’m in my creative headspace is to always write what’s true to me, to keep my music as authentic as it can be! With “Autumn Tears”, I wanted to give listeners something that this whole process has given me: a healing experience, an opportunity to learn and evolve, and a place to cope. And while doing that, I give my personal story and experience with toxic relationships, and I always hope that whoever decides to listen to my music could relate in any sort of way! Why did you choose to make the instrumentals for “Autumn Tears” so cinematic and chilling? Do you feel these instrumentals enhanced your lyrical message? One thing I love to do with my music has dark lyrics and light music, and “Autumn Tears” was no exception! This track started off with just me and the keys. And I felt that it needed more, but not too much. Adding guitar, drums and cello was the perfect touch! I wanted more than anything for the musical aspect to be as raw as its lyrical side. And I do feel like the instruments have definitely intensified the entire song, for sure! It made it feel a lot heavier than it initially was! Did you face any personal challenges when creating “Autumn Tears”? What was the most difficult aspect of this process? For sure! The writing aspect was hands down the biggest challenge in this song’s creation. I was in a one-year relationship that was affecting me emotionally, mentally, and physically. During the aftermath, I hid all the trauma inside a box in my head and never dealt with them. So when all those memories reemerged, I had no choice but to face them in order to heal. And writing this track did exactly that. It was difficult to do, but at the end of the rollercoaster, I evolved, and eventually healed. What’s next for you? I’m excited to release another single, as well as the debut EP that I’ve been working on for quite a while before the year comes to an end. So, I’m super stoked about that! I am also hoping to gig and collaborate with other artists this year! I recently had my first gig in over two years, two weeks ago. It was such a surreal moment and I just can’t wait to get back on stage. Instagram Facebook

Feel the relief you've been waiting for with Sophia Fracassi's newest single, "But I Do," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sophia Fracassi. We're very impressed with the amount of emotion and heart you've placed into your new single, "But I Do." When did you begin feeling an urge to release your emotions via song? Thank you! I honestly don’t know how to write unless the contents of what I’m writing mean something to me personally. Because I have always been fairly emotionally guarded, when I began to write music seriously, it was truly this natural outpouring of the emotions I felt within myself. It’s somehow easier to create an extremely vulnerable song that hundreds of thousands of people will hear than to tell those secret thoughts to a singular individual. Writing music has always been my biggest emotional outlet, and throughout the years has made me a much softer, more open version of myself. What was your songwriting process like for "But I Do"? Was it easy for you to transform those negative emotions into cohesive song lyrics? I wrote “But I Do” just over a year ago. I was going through a pretty difficult patch in my mental health and was trying extremely hard to pretend everything was okay. One night, feeling particularly defeated, I sat down at the piano in my living room to play. The song just sort of spilled out of me. It was like ripping a page out of my diary. Every single insecurity and pain I was feeling inside turned into this song that sounded exactly how I felt; lonely. Did you work with other musicians or producers to reach those cinematic and cathartic instrumentals within "But I Do?” I wrote the lyrics, melody and piano part for this track. Then I worked with my incredible producer, Steve Molella, to mold the production around the bones of the song. We wanted it to be minimal, but intentional. Every single piece was placed strategically to make the song sonically match the lyrics. The piano line moves in continuous circles and the kick drum never stops pulsing, like a rapid heartbeat. The production builds & builds and then the song ends as quickly as it began. It sounds like anxiety, it sounds like feeling desperate, and I cry every time I listen to it. Do you hope listeners take something away from "But I Do?” What would you want that to be? As much as “But I Do” is about being in the trenches, it is such an important piece of my story. The song marks when I finally started to realize that accomplishment does not equal happiness and that I had to choose to get better instead of waiting for my pain to go away on its own. I hope each listener is reminded that acknowledgment is the beginning of recovery. Feel your emotions, don’t lock them away. That’s when you can finally start to move on. Instagram Facebook

Do yourself a favor and check out Davey Squires' album, 'California 99,' now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Davey Squires. What a conceptual and rich listening experience you've provided with your recent album, 'California 99'? What inspired this vacation-like album? Mostly what inspired this album was my trips out west to Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, and of course California. There’s a feeling of excited loneliness when you go out there and travel, especially along with the more desolate places in Nevada and Montana. Something that caused me to look at the experiences out there more closely. Did you work entirely solo when creating the instrumentals and production for the album 'California 99'? What was your creative process like? This was the first album I truly played all the parts, mixed, and mastered myself, though my band and I have been doing these songs live for years now so I had an idea going into recording what I wanted it to sound like. I think the tracklisting came together nicely with most of the songs being mid to fast-tempo songs, but all having different grooves to them. What sort of scenes did you want to paint in the listener's mind when experiencing the record, 'California 99?' The lyrics pretty much describe the scenes of different towns and cities in the West, but as a whole I want the listener to think of this album as a tour or vacation. Each song is about the new city you play at, meeting new people, and experiencing new lives. Which song are you most proud of from 'California 99,' and why? I really like the way orchestrally “Airport Lullaby” turned out. I think it’s a good ending to the album. How does the 'California 99' album represent you? What can new listeners learn about you when taking a listen? Lately, I’ve been getting into more of a classical style on the production side, using more string sections than guitars and adding more orchestral percussion parts. I really liked this change for ‘California 99’ because it makes it sound more like a soundtrack or a musical and that really connects all these songs and places together for me. I hope these songs can connect to the listener in some sort of way, whether it be painting a picture or a personal memory. Instagram Facebook
