- Kelsey Gill Searches For Love In an Exciting Debut Single
UK-based powerhouse singer-songwriter and intoxicating recording artist Kelsey Gill makes her big debut in a new, heavy-hitting single, "Rob Me Blind." The song has received rave reviews from UK critics who dub Kelsey Gill one of the most exciting acts to debut in 2022. Gill first made waves on the scene in 2018 when collaborating with YellowClaw on "I'll Be Fine." Her forthcoming debut album, 'New Blood,' features collaborators including A$AP Ferg, DJ Snake, and Moksi. Keeping the energy alive is Kelsey Gill's debut single "Rob Me Blind," co-written with producer DQ (Beyonce, Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, and many more). The song brings listeners into a groovy, modern alt-pop listening experience where Gill's poised and confident performance bulldozes the competition with the utmost swagger and talent. Jumping into the new bop, "Rob Me Blind," the experience kicks off with a groovy and plucky bassline alongside Kelsey Gill's spoken word-like vocals that bust a few rhymes and expand on needing a chance at love. As her sweet vocals begin pouring through our speakers, Kelsey Gill grooves her way to the hook and continues yearning for a powerful lover, even if it robs her blind. We adore the concept of this track, and enhancing it is the minimal and tightly-wound instrumentals that expand with modern hip-hop drums and vibrant vocal harmonies. Kelsey Gill's performance in this track is definitely one of the most confident we've seen from a debut artist, and we're sure her poise and composure will rub off on any listener. Show some love to the new and improved Kelsey Gill through her riveting debut single, "Rob Me Blind," now available on all streaming platforms. We're totally impressed with the confidence and power you've brought to your debut single, "Rob Me Blind." Why did you want to release this powerhouse track as your first official single? Thank you so much! We worked on so many cool songs this one just felt right, the funky base was a real opening statement sound, and the message of not taking life so serious with everything that’s been going on in the world felt right, I didn’t want a negative sad love song to start with I wanted a cool vibe and show a bit of independence and confidence. What inspired the passionate and relatable lyrics in "Rob Me Blind"? What did you want to get across to your audience? Well, I wanted to say something refreshing and true to me that not everyone has the same take on a breakup and that I want true love to really rob me blind and so far I can’t have found that life without each other love yet. I wanted to say it’s ok to be independent and confident and have fun. It’s really all came from conversations with my friends and sister about breakups they’d been through and giving advice in a positive way. What was it like working alongside such a notable and talented producer like DQ for "Rob Me Blind?" How did he help navigate your ideas and concepts? I love DQ I have so much respect for what he’s done and who he is as a person, when I first worked with him I was so nervous coz he’s such a pro and a vocal perfectionist, I really wanted to impress him, he’d had Beyoncé and in that studio so I had big boots to fill. And I really wanted him to keep wanting to work with me. But that very first day he made me feel so chilled it all came naturally and that was the day we wrote Rob me blind and then he couldn’t get rid of me & we wrote an entire body of work together and is a friend for life! How does "Rob Me Blind" help new listeners get to know your sound and style better? What's next for you? Well, I’ve only really had big belting feature dance tracks out before now. So this is really the first time I’ve exposed my personality or opinions across on a record and showed different sides to my voice in a different genre. "Rob me blind" was just the introduction there’s a whole lot more music to come with a lot of storytelling so I hope you enjoy it. Instagram Facebook
- S.A.A.R.A Keeps the Energy Alive in "Deliverance"
London-based pop, afrobeat, and electronic producer/singer-songwriter S.A.A.R.A returns with a nostalgic groove of a single entitled "Deliverance." S.A.A.R.A's rousing production and Debby Harry-reminiscent vocal stylings are a distinct feature of her craft that's gained her quite the broad and loyal following. With musical influences like Gil Scott Heron, Sly, and the Family Stone, Fela Kuti, Little Dragon, Bjork, and Kate Bush, you can trust that S.A.A.R.A's sound is just as innovative as it is experimental. Now releasing her moving and grooving single, "Deliverance," S.A.A.R.A teamed up with Rebecca Speller on flute, Nick Evesham on tenor sax, Thomas Porter on bassoon, and Mackadena's drum programming. Produced by S.A.A.R.A, Mackadena, and Adriano Desire, this new track is nothing short of bliss as all artists send us off into a dreamy, nostalgic, and energetic 80s groove that's wildly experimental. Hitting play on "Deliverance," the track opens with a loud and proud electronic drum arrangement that peels back the first groovy layers of this sweet single. Once the warm bassoon and bright flute begin floating in, S.A.A.R.A's bass licks ramp up the energy while setting the tone with a carefree, semi-jazzy, and electronic sonic arrangement. We truly admire the in-depth blend of electronic and organic instruments in this track; it perfectly highlights S.A.A.R.A's experimental and broad creative approaches. Once S.A.A.R.A's makes her breathy and Debby Harry-like vocal appearance, she sings of being adamant about finding what she's searching for in life while yearning for someone's tender love. This song is the perfect groove to lift your spirits, blast on a car ride, or simply play in the background for an easy-going and feel-good experience. You never know what you're going to get with S.A.A.R.A, and on her latest single, "Deliverance," she surpasses all expectations. Find the new hit on all streaming platforms. We are delighted to be sharing your new single with the world; as you created this record, what was your songwriting process, and how did it come about? This is the third song I wrote for this project, and I found myself encountering fears around how and whether I could do this. The first song I wrote, Forest, felt like a homecoming, and the second track, 'Grace Jones' perhaps, was the continuation of beginner's luck. But as I wrestled with developing the bassline for this track into a song, I realized how important this musical voyage was to me. I began to get comfortable with setting out to discover what I could create without knowing what was going to happen next. All I had was a feeling that I was on the right path and I mustn't give up. This song started as a bass riff paired with a shuffle drum beat made out of layering up Logic x drum loops. I was listening to a lot of Fela Kuti at the time… as always… and wanted to create a track that played homage to the way his tracks are structured; building up from a single element into a lush and rich arrangement before tapering off to end with a solo instrument ringing out. The song started to come together when I scored the bassoon in the arrangement - as an interplay between the bass and the big expansive 70s style organ. Once I had the instrumentation organized, the lyrics started to materialize. I wanted to speak to the experience of living into the expansiveness of my decision to explore making music and live into my creativity's freedom. Deliverance' is an anthem for those not willing to trade up what they know in their heart to be true. It's a song for those no longer able to compromise on following their dreams, even if the journey is of Odyssean proportions! After going on a 10-year hiatus, what were you most excited about getting back to, and why? I realized that I love gigging - there's nothing quite like it. You create a moment in real-time, in a real space, that you share with real people. I love going to gigs - the euphoria as the band or DJ plays your favorite songs is epic. But then, to be performing - it's another level. Our shows are a symbiotic relationship with the crowd, whether big or small. We set out to make people dance and have a great time, and when they do, it spurs us on even more - it's such a buzz. Getting to write and create is also an important part of who I am. It gives me such freedom in self-expression that it can be hard to come by as a black woman. This particularly hit me during the summer of 2020. We were in a national lockdown in the UK and also dealing with, on a global level, the fallout from the murder of George Floyd. I had questioned whether making music should still feel like a priority for me, but then I remembered that music is my revolution. I get to show up, make noise, take up space and use that space to make an impact. Through music, I get to have a voice, and now, more than ever, it feels like something I have to keep on doing. Looking back at everyone you've ever met and worked with, what is one piece of advice you would give that helped you through tough times? I discovered and stood for never to slow down, shrink, change, or apologize for people not 'getting it. With innovation, there is always confusion because people want to stick to what they know. So I don't allow discussions of how it's usually done or how someone thinks it ought to be done to sway me from my path. Creativity is alchemy, a response to the questions that you ask yourself, the experimentation of colliding sounds, beats, and words. I often think of my favorite artists like David Bowie, Bjork, Kate Bush starting out in a room full of raised eyebrows and sideways glances. But now, they are the benchmark of innovation in contemporary popular music. Although I never met him, this quote by Bowie keeps me moving through challenging times… and great times too; "I think it's dangerous for an artist to fulfill other people's expectations. If you feel safe in the area you're working in; you're not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you're capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don't feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you're just about in the right place to do something exciting." What are you expecting people to take away from your next record, "Deliverance"? This record is about having faith in your path, in your process, and never giving up on what you are looking for. I want the listener to feel empowered in their freedoms, including something as simple as the freedom to choose how to move your body in dance. I want the track to communicate a sense of openness, to be able to stand alone in the vastness of life and not feel daunted by it, but to feel free. What's next for you? I am currently working on the Deliverance video that will be out soon and then have two amazing remixes lined up for late summer that I'm super excited for. We are also looking forward to getting back to playing live and are on the hunt for some festival stages to host us this summer before getting back into the studio this autumn to record the next EP. - Z3TH3R & Ulenni Okandlovu Lift Our Spirits With Two New Singles, "Goodbye"& "What It Means"
Hailing from Oakland, California, instrumentalist, and producer Z3TH3R teams up with Zimbabwean recording artist Ulenni Okandlovu for two new reflective singles, "Goodbye" and "What It Means." Z3TH3R is the solo project of (Z)achary S(eth) Gre(er), who was inspired by a cacophony of all things from nature field recordings to heavy alternative guitars and 808 beats. Z3TH3R continues to explore infinite sonic soundscapes with help from fellow recording artists like Ulenni Okandlovu, founder and the lead vocalist of experimental duo Bantu Spaceships. The two recently paired up for their lush recent singles, "Goodbye" and "What It Means." Okandlovu explains the former as "a prayer for loved ones to endure and stay strong in tough times." The second song, "What It Means," is said to be "a cry from deep within for those seeking a chance in life," notes the Zimbabwean recording artist. Hitting play on "Goodbye," this piece opens with a hazy and soft electric guitar melody picking away at our hearts. As Z3TH3R's production and instrumentals begin to sweetly expand into this dreamy and lo-fi sound, Okandlovu makes his soothing vocal appearance while grooving into a smooth rap that reminds us to remain strong during such unexpected and turbulent times. We truly appreciate the introspective yet inspirational feel of this single; it's safe to say that it arrived at a better time than ever. Jumping into the second single, "What It Means," Z3TH3R opens the song with another spacious and celestial sonic soundscape that slowly develops into this heavy and rumbling drum break to enhance the intensity. Okandlovu showcases his broad vocal stylings in this track while serenading us with his sweet falsetto that chills us to the bone. His airy harmonies add another reflective layer while singing about how everyone deserves an equal chance at life no matter their situation and circumstances. In need of some hope and sweet sonics? Get your fix with Z3TH3R and Ulenni Okandlovu's recent singles, "Goodbye" and "What It Means," now available on all streaming platforms. We genuinely appreciate the uplifting and relatable themes within your two new singles, "Goodbye" and "What It Means." What was your primary source of inspiration behind these songs? I was feeling collaboratively isolated during the pandemic, so I initially decided I would produce a "social distance beat tape" with other artists. Long story short, I created a google drive folder, uploaded a bunch of tracks, and then shared it with a bunch of singers, songwriters, and rappers. Ulenni dug into a few of the tracks and sent them back to me to produce and mix. The tracks took on a life of their own from there. What was your collaborative experience with Ulenni Okandlovu when creating "Goodbye" and "What It Means?" What was that creative process like behind the scenes? The collaboration with Ulenni was simply a few emails and a phone call. Ulenni chose a couple of tracks he liked, emailed me stellar vocals (really so much good stuff to work with), and then produced it. It was a smooth process. I chose to add textures, transitions, and signal processing based on what Ulenni was trying to portray. What did you want to make the listener feel and experience when hearing both singles "Goodbye" and "What It Means?" Ulenni had a clear vision of what the tracks would be about. "Goodbye" is a traveler's song about stepping into the unknown and having to part with your loved ones. I tried to push these ideas in the song's production with a dusty lofi soundscape. I want the listener to feel the freedom of the road and the swirling thoughts of self-doubt that can come with following one's intuition. "What it Means" is a call for compassion and healing for our broken world. It's a reminder to take care of one another and show love where we can. The sound design in this track is a reflection of the epic struggle that modern systems place on life itself and the power the collective has to change it: a war cry, a rising up, a grief ritual. How do songs like "Goodbye" and "What It Means" represent your growth as an artist? Would you say these songs are more complex than your first few releases? Its been a treat to be working one on one with artists and have them embellish my compositions in ways I could never imagine. Working with artists by just sending wave files back and forth via email is such an exciting way to collaborate and has brought many surprising results. Of course, every collaboration is different, but there is something magical about hearing Ulenni's voice over my beats. He weaves his poetry and unique vocalizations so beautifully through the tracks - it gave me so much to work with and took the tracks to a place I could never have imagined. I don't think these tracks are necessarily more complex than what I have previously released as a solo artist. Still, they are a clear example of how collaboration can open up new realms of creative potential. I look forward to releasing more tracks this year with Ulenni and other artists, so please follow me and support me to stay up to date on everything he and I are creating. Instagram
- Forgetting Yesterday Sings the Tale of the Nameless Boy In, "John Doe"
Hailing from Malmõ, Sweden, is a five-piece alternative rock group Forgetting Yesterday with their conceptual debut album, 'Sometimes, I Just Need Some Time,' alongside the record's lead single, "John Doe." The pandemic allowed Forgetting Yesterday to continue developing their skilled songwriting and talented instrumentals since forming in 2017. Known for creating relatable alternative rock merged with modern pop-punk, Forgetting Yesterday has seen vast success through international radio airplay and performing and staple festivals like SommarRock Svedala. Within the group's latest album, 'Sometimes, I Just Need Some Time,' we hear Forgetting Yesterday pack the scene with ten cohesive yet diverse songs that reflect those overwhelming sensations of recollecting your thoughts within this crazy and fast-paced world. The album's core single, "John Doe," takes on more of an introspective theme that dives into the turbulent story of the boy with no name. Jumping into the single, "John Doe," we're greeted with haunting and anticipation-filled synths that slowly open the song alongside a tender acoustic guitar and the lead vocalist's pop-punk-esque vocal stylings, guiding us into the tale of John Doe. As Forgetting Yesterday enters the song with their entire and cohesive alternative-punk instrumentals, they send us into a dreamy and cathartic atmosphere that leaves us with sensations of relief and comfort. What's just as cathartic is the lead vocalist's lyrics that sing of navigating life's peaks and valleys and feeling lost in a diversion at times when attempting to stay on his path to success. A blistering guitar solo, plucky bassline, fiery rhythm guitar, and thumping drum arrangements blaze through our speakers while the lead singer's comforting vocals close the story on a profound note of introspection that's wildly relatable. Get your dose of relief with Forgetting Yesterday's recent hit, "John Doe," now available on their debut album, 'Sometimes, I Just Need Some Time,' available on all streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Forgetting Yesterday. We admire the thoughtful and honest approach you've taken with your recent single, "John Doe." What inspired this lonely wanderer-type piece about navigating through life's journeys? Thank you so much for wanting to feature us! “John Doe” is the second to last track and the lead single from our debut album “Sometimes, I Just Need Some Time”. When we started to write this record we wanted to evolve our earlier sound and create something that we had never done before. With “John Doe”, and the entire album, we really feel that we achieved something unique and fresh. This song is a modern take on pop-rock with an acoustic guitar, a soft drumbeat, and a John Mayer-inspired guitar solo. As for the lyrics we always write about our current state of mind at what we are going through at the time. It is very important for us that the lyrics can be relatable and an outlet for someone's emotions, just as we feel that we can relate to the lyrics that our inspirations write. Who wrote the cathartic and conceptual lyrics for "John Doe"? Was that experience a rather challenging process considering your lyrics are very emotional and honest? The lyrics were written by Christopher (Guitar), Anton (Bass), and Johan (Vocals). We often write the lyrics together or write different parts of the lyrics back and forth as a way of relating to each other's emotions and thoughts. Writing the lyrics is often an emotionally challenging process since we are opening up and being vulnerable in front of each other. At this point in our musical journey and our friendship, we have reached an emotional understanding and mutual respect that allows us to have great cooperation in the songwriting process. Could you introduce us to the names within your group and what your creative process looked like for "John Doe"? Who handled which aspects of the song? Forgetting Yesterday consists of Christopher Hjorth (Guitar), Anton Bendroth (Bass), Ludvig Hansson (Guitar), Mathias Grevin Garvö (Drums), and Johan Hansson (Vocals). What has allowed our music to evolve is our versatility as musicians. With this album, we have experimented with different roles in each song. The guitar solo on “John Doe” is actually written and recorded by Anton. Something we haven’t done before is experimenting with the vocals as much as we have on this record. Almost every song features either Christopher or Anton vocals, both as lead vocals and harmonies. As often, Christopher comes up with a musical idea that we all get involved in and start to evolve together. That was the case for “John Doe” as well. Everyone is involved in songwriting in one way or another, we all have our opinions regarding the songs and it is important that everyone is heard. The lyrics are often written by one or more members and what we usually all have a say in is the general structure and form of the song. Of course, each member has a primary opinion when it comes to their own main instrument but we are all open to suggestions that can make the song even more complete. What do you hope to make the listener experience, think, and feel when hitting play on your debut album, 'Sometimes, I Just Need Some Time'? With “Sometimes, I Just Need Some Time”, we hope to show the importance of speaking your emotions out loud and accepting the vulnerable parts in all of us. The lyrics function as an outlet for our emotions with an intention to welcome the listener into a community where we feel seen, heard, and included. The 10 autobiographical songs explore the themes and emotions of both love and sorrow, happiness and sadness. With a variety of both soft vocal melodies, heavier guitar riffs, and a slight touch of modern-day electronic elements, we want to create something that touches upon your emotions. The mix of sounds within this album represents the entire universe that is our emotions. What's next for you? Right now we are focusing on rehearsing and designing our live set. We hope to come out and play some shows now since the pandemic is decreasing and to spread our music across venues to old and new friends. INSTAGRAM
- Rauly Will Make Listeners Groove With New Single “Thinkin Bout It”
From Fullerton, California, Multi-Talented artist Rauly has been performing since 5. The singer-songwriter, musical theater performer, guitarist, and producer have perfected his sound ever since. His goal is to bring fans a unique blend of genres which he has been proving to be true time and time again. In February of 2021, Rauly was in school, getting his Masters in Finance and Analytics from Santa Clara University. He saw on Instagram that platinum-producer Charlie Heat was taking music submissions looking for unsigned artists to collaborate with. Rauly submitted his music to Charlie and eventually received a reply saying that his music sparked his attention. Rauly released his debut single “In The Eyes,” produced by Charlie Heat and Busco in January 2022, and his second single, “This Is Love,” in February. Since releasing this music, he has been featured on platforms such as Audiomack, OutNow, and Ones To Watch. DiscoverNu said, “Rauly effortlessly combines indie and pop with elements of hip-hop…it’s catchy and relatable with a lot of mainstream appeal.” Rauly proves this feedback even more true with his newest single, “Thinkin Bout It.” “Thinkin Bout It” puts a spotlight on the talented young artist as he entirely produced this song on his own. His production style, mixed with his unique singing ability, showcases why Rauly is in this for the long game. Rauly’s youthful, smooth and energetic style creates a bright vibe that puts us in a great mood. This radio-ready single will have listeners moving. It’s Bruno Mars-esque, where the production is big and poppy with elements of hip hop and funk. Rauly’s vibrant tone blends perfectly with the groovy beat. However, as fun as the record is, the subject where Rauly is singing about can quickly get you in your feelings. The song takes you on a journey through the mind of a young romantic who is at first conflicted with his last love. Lyrics like “Because of you I got a head full of doubt” and “why’d you turn your back on me, I tried to make you so happy” are common thoughts and emotions that most of us have gone through at one time or another. The storyline Rauly sings to us is expressed in such a relaxed manner that you can easily forget that he is going through a heartbreak. The relatable lyrics stick out to us, especially towards the song's end where he says,” Now I’m hittin ignore when you call me late, cause I already know you’re gonna say.” The tables turn, and now that his ex is the one going after him, he creates that “Carefree, I’m going to do my own thing” attitude, which is sometimes exactly what we need! Rauly helps us move on from our ex-romance as we belt out the lyrics during a nighttime drive. Congratulations on your new hit single, "Thinkin Bout It"! We adore the energy of this record! Was there a specific moment or event that inspired you to create this record? Thanks so much. I appreciate ya'll!! This record was definitely inspired by a breakup I went through a couple of years ago. I wrote it to help me process and get through the emotions I was feeling at that time. I think the song could help some people the same way it helped me. We love that you wrote and produced the record yourself! Can you please give us a brief breakdown of your creative process? What came first, the production or the lyrics? Or was it simultaneous? Yes, thanks, it was dope to release a song I produced myself, and it definitely won't be my last! I started writing this song on guitar with the lyrics, then added the other production parts after. You've painted the portrait of many people's current situations with "Thinkin Bout It." What advice would you give to someone trying to move on from a toxic relationship? My best advice would be to put your foot down and entirely cut them out of your life. It can be hard to see your life without someone, so you keep giving them chances, answering their phone calls, accepting apologies, and staying in this cycle. It takes time to realize that you can be just as strong as a person, if not stronger, without them. So block their number, unfollow them on social media, and look forward because I promise it may seem like you'll never find a relationship again, but you will and with someone better!! Incredibly, you began performing at just five years old! Please give us a glimpse into how your musical journey began and how that passion evolved into what you create today? So when I was five years old, I started musical theater and didn't stop until I got into high school. I loved being in theater but enjoyed the singing aspect of theater the most. I started playing guitar at eight years old and fell in love with it. I had the opportunity to join an alternative band in high school and performed original songs and covers with them at various venues throughout Southern California. We all got into different colleges and went our separate ways, so I started to write my stuff. I was heavily influenced by hip-hop in high school, so I added that element to my writing new music. Now, I've combined all of these influences: musical theater, acoustic pop, alternative rock, and hip-hop into the music you hear from me today and will listen to in the future :) What's next for you? Well, I will be releasing a lot more music! I also have my first show on 4/6 with Breaking Sound at Adults Only Bar in LA! I would love to see you there. Instagram
- Step Out Of The Darkness And Into The Light With Amoreena’s New Hit Single, “Pastel Pink”
Amoreena, a 24-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer, scours the world of pop music and muses to create her unique sound. Amoreena finds purpose in the desperation of keeping such moving emotions a secret. Amoreena pours her 4 am desires into a synth pop-driven anthem on her latest single, "Pastel Pink." With her passionate vocals reminiscent of Pat Benatar and Bonnie Tyler, her 80's femme pop attitude is ever-present in her songwriting, singing, and performances. Along with her exploration in music, she has used healing and investigation of her mental health to drive the purpose of her new music in hopes of inspiring her listeners. Amoreena's new single "Pastel Pink" takes us on a dynamic synth crusade, driven by her breathtaking vocals, new cadences, and unique production. As we proceed on this magical journey, she describes her feelings and experiences and shows us how she uses her lyrics to portray how unique and distinctive she can be. Amoreena uses her many talents and exhibits what she thought would only be another one of her many records. "Pastel Pink" will have you were dancing and singing from the top of your lungs. You might even be calling it your new favorite. Congratulations on your latest single, "Pastel Pink." How did you come up with the lyrics, and what made you choose its approach? Thank you so much for having me, BuzzMusic! Lyrics are usually the first thing that comes to me when writing a song, and this particular one started at my extremely out-of-tune piano in my parent's home. The chorus came; first, I'm always chasing the high of the perfect pop chorus melody - and this one stuck with me immediately. Once I have a title, the chorus comes quick, and it's like a race to the finish to get the verses. When I write more traditional pop tracks, I go after visual verses with obscure twists on phrases, like "pastel patterns scaring fenders" in the first half of the song can be taken so many different ways - it's a fun way to hide the true meaning of a song while also being the most honest about what and who you're writing it about. When you created "Pastel Pink," was the creative process different from what you usually would do? If yes, how was it different? The initial start of the song, at a piano with a chorus melody, is my tried and true beginning to most songs that I am very protective over - but building the track to this one was different. This was the first "pop" track I've ever produced for myself, and it was the track that had led the new direction of this entire album's sound for me. Once I had the chorus down with the bits and pieces of the verses, I brought it into Logic to see what I could make, and it led me to this real synth pop-driven song with an electric guitar solo thrown in as the bridge (shout out Brenna Swanger for that beautiful solo there). When I started producing this track back in 2020 (which somehow is now two years ago?) I had been listening to a lot of pop music to try and develop and round out my production skills, which all led to this. Being a young adult could be tough sometimes. How has music helped you through some of your most difficult times? This will sound so silly, but I was detailing this to myself in a journal entry like a week ago. Music and I have a fascinating relationship, and I look at it as less of a thing or a passion and more of a person in my life. I've known that I've wanted to pursue ever since I was young - and when you're young and know your purpose, it's a blessing and a curse. Music has been there to drive my happiest moments even higher and my lowest moments to absolute rock bottom - in a weird way, it's probably the most honest relationship I've ever had. When I don't have words for my best and worst times, music always does. It brings clarity and purpose to my existence. As an artist, what are three things you would love to encourage your listeners to do to better their mental health? How am I possibly going to narrow this down to 3 things! This is what I want my big conversation to be with this new project. 1. The truth is terrifying, but it's the only way to heal. Running from your identity, vices, mental illness, experience, trauma, whatever it may be - will only hurt you in the long run. It is so terrifying to look something devastating and confusing in the eye and say, "I will understand you. I will heal from you." but you have to do it to move on with your life. 2. Take Action. Whether this is taking time off to settle with information, you need to process on your own, in the care of professionals, or in the company of friends and loved ones - take whatever Action you need to take to start seeing positive changes in your life. Something as simple as cleaning up your social media feed can impact your mind in such a positive way. Whatever you need to do to start getting better, even if it's to try and catch your breath, find ways for you to do it. 3. Be gentle with yourself and those around you. Once you start understanding your mental health and how you process things - whether they're learned from childhood or developed from trauma (or so, so many other things), you start to understand a little more about why other people react and interact in the ways that they do. It sounds so cliche, but you will never know what someone else is going through, especially in recent times; be gentle. Take time for yourself to enjoy your morning coffee, your loved ones, and yourself - all the things that make you who you are, were, and want to be. What's next for you? I'll be releasing a cute video for this song in a few days that I'm excited about and will finally be gearing up to put this album out in the summer. It's been a long time coming, and I'm so excited to share this music with anyone who will listen. I think this is some of my most honest music, but I also think it's some of my most healing. I'll be releasing a few more singles before my album, Center Of The Garden releases in July. Instagram Artist Website
- Sarah Kellysen Turns Up On "Mundane Monday"
From Calgary, Alberta, singer-songwriter, actress, and driven recording artist Sarah Kellysen spins the groove in a hot new single entitled "Mundane Monday." The gender-fluid queer artist first earned her chops in the entertainment industry after an acting coach from Los Angeles discovered her and began developing her craft. Following many acting gigs, Kellysen decided to release her debut album 'Transition' in 2017. After some soul searching and self-discovery, she's finally on her way to dropping her fourth album. The forthcoming project starts with the lead single, "Mundane Monday." Although it may sound like a rather dull theme, Sarah Kellysen does an incredible job of livening the atmosphere with modern electronic elements and her charismatic and poised vocal delivery. Instead of belting her heart out, Kellysen takes the cool, calm, and collected route in this track to fuel it with allure and attitude. Hitting play on the new hit, "Mundane Monday," the track begins with a warm and club-like deep house production arrangement alongside tight and plucky electric guitar riffs that meet the drum breaks with the perfect amount of anticipation and groove. Sarah Kellysen makes her poised way in. She expands on those mundane Mondays and needs a cathartic release from such dull days. Heading over to the hook, Kellysen dives into the realm of allure and charm while urging us to tell our special someone what we really want. This song's rhythmic and electronic arrangement gives us heavy voguing energy, especially the spacey and vibrant synths that ooze with modernity and power. Don't hold back from turning up on a "Mundane Monday" with Sarah Kellysen's latest single, now available on all streaming platforms. We love the vibe and club-like feel of your recent single, "Mundane Monday." What inspired you to create such a groovy and conceptual single? I think the best music is when it's timeless and universal. I felt this song could be played and fit into any era of dance and pop music. I looked back at pieces from decades ago considered catchy, and I tried to understand why they still are played today. Madonna's Vogue, Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Outta My Head are examples, and I wanted to do something in that vein but with my essence. I think this music sonically and lyrically suits me. What themes or messages did you want to get across within your lyrics in "Mundane Monday?" "Mundane Monday" is a universal theme of how we all live in a pattern that we are so used to waking up, going to work, going home, eating, sleeping, etc., and how we think our lifestyle is Mundane once we get used to it. However, we forget the ordinary may not be so ordinary if we take the concept out of our minds and look at what's around us. I am personally independent. I come from wanting to see two or more sides of an argument and seek to find common ground answers. If I don't agree with something, I love that because I ask myself why and try to understand where someone is coming from to learn something new. In today's world, we see a lot of people, because they don't like or don't agree with an opinion, try to block it out "cancel it" instead of trying to face it head-on and have an open conversation. Many times when you meet with someone in the middle, they will hear your message louder and clearer, at least from my experience. I am open to having a conversation with anyone from all walks of life, and I love diverse conversations and people. I think my ultimate goal with "Mundane Monday" is to not have preconceived notions of someone for who they are or what they stand for because they can surprise you. I have been surprised many times myself! It's the most rewarding experience. Who produced the deep house-like production for "Mundane Monday?" Do you usually take this modern and danceable route? This song was produced by ChillingCat, a Korean Producer of the music company Mixtape Seouls Production. He does such beautiful work! What made me want to take this route is Truly. The three albums I did previously were about chasing trends that were currently in. If you look at some of the songs I did back a couple of years ago. They were a catalog of the times. "Catwalk" and "Dead Love Floats" were made in 2015/2016, when Tropical EDM pop was trending. "Let's Be Casual" was created when the deep dark house was more of a trend. Now I wanted to take a step back and do something that I genuinely enjoy. I wanted to create music that could stand the test of time. I have faith it will. What should we expect to experience on your forthcoming album? How does "Mundane Monday" fit into the project's theme? The upcoming album is a journey about facing fears of any roadblock that stops you from being you. It is a story-driven album, probably some of the most lyrically grounding work I have ever done, and I am super excited to share my messages across the board. There is a unifying theme throughout in terms of lyrics and production. Mundane Monday is all about facing the fear of digging deeper into areas that have preconceived notions. "Tell them what you want, what you want" is easier said than done. Instagram Twitter

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Tara Lynn Rye, and congratulations on your latest single, "Twin Flame." This is obviously a very intimate and personal song, with a message that many of us are able to relate to. Was it tough to tap into such a personal and vulnerable experience while writing? I'm so happy to be here with you, BuzzMusic! I think the only songs worth writing come from that personal and vulnerable place. My best songs always come from this uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach. Whether it's frustration, longing, confusion, or rage, it feels like a ball of energy that I need to release, and I reach for the notes to match it. The words come out as I try to understand those feelings. After I write a song, I usually go, "Oh, that's how I feel. That's what I learned". I love that people can resonate with the most honest realizations I have with myself alone at a piano. Your love and passion for music and performing are extremely apparent in your music. Do you remember where your love for music all began? When I was five, I used to stand at the end of my driveway with a cassette player blaring the Temptations and performing for all the cars passing by. I'm pretty sure I would wear a bikini too. My poor parents didn't know what to do with me. I was always giving them hell. When I was young, I sang in musicals, but I took a long break from singing, about ten years to be exact. I became an actor and filmmaker. When the pandemic hit, I moved in with my parents, and in all that downtime, I taught myself how to play piano, and the songs just started pouring out-- I guess I had a lot to say. Music was the biggest gift I could have asked for in such a dark time. I'm so grateful to have gained another outlet to tell stories. What sort of atmosphere and vibe did you want the instrumentals and production to give off in "Twin Flame?" Who helped bring the sonics to life? I was so lucky to meet April Rose Gabrielli and KULICK, my co-producers and co-writers, on the track. They are both fabulous artists themselves and really took the time to bring the Tara Lynn Rye sound to life. I love the duality of the acoustic and electric guitar, the clash between the whimsical and delicate verses, and the explosive rock & roll choruses. I'm a sucker for electric guitars solos, and drum builds. I wanted the listener to feel that swell of emotion one feels reminiscing on what once was, and then the inevitable come down from the high. Did you have a specific idea in mind of you who hoped this song would resonate with the most? What do you hope listeners will take away from this song while hearing it for the first time? "Twin Flame" was written by a Tara who was grieving— flip-flopping between romanticizing a past relationship and choosing to step away. I was chasing the feeling and spark that died with the person I perceived him to be. Sometimes beautiful things aren't supposed to last forever, and that's okay. At least we get to experience all that vibrancy, even if it is fleeting. I wanted to give people a song that they could crank up in the car-- something that they could sing and cry to. At least... that's what I've been doing since I recorded it, haha. What's next for you? I am playing a show with my full band at Breaking Sound on April 6th in Hollywood at Adults Only. My shows are always a witchy, crazy good time. I'm told I'm quite dramatic. Come rock out with some friends! I'm also dropping my 3rd single, "Invite the Devil," on April 8th, and my full EP drops this summer! Instagram

"Keep Up" and get down with Josh Roberts' exhilarating single on all digital streaming platforms, and stay up to date with the Oklahoma-based recording artist as he begins to release his new 6-track project. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Josh Roberts. We admire the natural charisma and confidence you've brought to your exciting single, "Keep Up." What inspired you to create such an anthemic and high-energy track? "Keep Up" kind of started out from just vibing on some musical ideas with my co-writer (Josh Gabbard). And for the video, my videographer (Chris Clark) and I had a couple of looks we both liked. Both evolved while just diving into it and addressing ideas as they came. That's one of my favorite parts of the creative process. What sort of genres do you usually dabble in when creating your music? Where would you say "Keep Up" lies on the genre spectrum? I always seem to gravitate to a pop vibe. Hints of others hopefully make their way in as they will. I like the idea of not being too tied down to just one genre. I think some of the best songs and artists lean in and out of different genres and find ways to make them live together in a cool way. 'Keep Up' fits into that soulful-pop vibe. We tried to portray that in the video as well. Did you work alongside any musicians or producers when creating "Keep Up?" What was that process like? The song was co-written with my friend Josh Gabbard in Nashville. Another Nashville talent, Bobby Brinker, is behind the production and instrumentation you hear on the final product. The video was shot and put together by Chris Clark with Dominant Productions in Oklahoma City. I loved Chris' ideas and how he allowed the whole process to be so easy for me. It allowed me to loosen up and just live in the song during the shoot. What can you tell us about your forthcoming 6-track project that you're releasing piece by piece? Is there a certain theme or concept within these six songs? All six songs have been released. Each of the songs is special to me in one way or another, but I love how they all pull at different emotions. Putting together and releasing this music video for "Keep Up" is a bonus for me on this project. And I'm very excited to have a visual element to compliment one of the songs. What's next for you, Josh? I've been testing a handful of unreleased songs at live shows and sporadic live stream sets and will be looking to record the next single this year. And who knows, maybe a live performance video. All of the latest updates and news can be found at JoshRoberts.com or on social media (www.linktr.ee/joshroberts). Instagram Artist Website
- Colin Peterik Takes Us To The "West Coast"
Colin Peterik has never shied away from a musical challenge - which is why it comes as no surprise that the chops and imagination of this artist are ready to rise to the occasion of covering a song by Lana Del Rey. Taking it upon himself, Peterik is the right man for the task. He was practically born into the music industry: the son of the legendary Jim Peterik, writer of "Eye Of The Tiger," "Hold On Loosely," and dozens of other era-defining songs. As a result, Colin Peterik knows all about the magic of rock and its promise of freedom, and he's seen the dangerous underside of the dream-making machine. Taking the inimitable single "West Coast" to the forefront of his musical essence, Colin Peterik emphasizes a song that draws connections between show business, sexuality, freedom, and addictive behavior, as well as American iconography. What allows this highly enticing record to jump at us is the passion placed behind each word performed. Being a staple in Lana Del Rey's musical catalog, the Chicago rocker has not lost integrity throughout his rendition. Bringing levels of texture to the edgy composition has us taking in "West Coast" in a whole new light. Holding onto the vulnerability shed in the original, he takes something so delicate and revamps it powerfully. Colin Peterik's knack for whimsical arrangements is brought to life when tuning into the various elements making up his cover of "West Coast." Splashing the artistic structure in overdriven six-string to augment the song's rhythmic pulse, we still hear vulnerability drip from the spirit conveyed. As Colin Peterik ups the ante and has us immersed in all qualities of the original and his rock-enhanced version of "West Coast," it's clear why we needed a sliver of this peak moment to experience for ourselves. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Colin Peterik! Congratulations on the release of your cover for "West Coast." Taking a song as delicate and prevailing as Lana Del Rey's is no easy feat. What prompted the inspiration to take this creation under your wing? Lana is easily one of my favorite current artists. There is a certain "timeless" quality that she captures. This song, in particular, could have been a hit in 1967 out of San Francisco. I've heard the song a million times, but I purposely avoided listening to it during the recording process so that I could leave my own stamp on it. What does this song mean to you personally? The provocative lyrics and sexy, smoke-filled atmosphere that this song emanates drew me in right away. It's a rare quality of a song to transport the listener to a different place. When she says, "I can see my baby swinging," I imagine being young and naive, ready for the night, drinks, and drugs to take you away from your moral "home base." The chorus is about letting the night sweep you away and being vulnerable. Do you tend to revisit songs with an impact on you to add your artistic flair? What has this process been like for you? I just started messing around with West Coast on an acoustic guitar, in the key of E minor. The original key was too high for me, but it felt so good in E minor that I eventually brought it to the band. We jammed it out a couple of times, and all looked at each other like, "Hey, we might have something here!" It was a great moment for us to come out of rehearsal with a plan for a new single and video. It was all very organic. At what point do you know a song is complete? How did you know when "West Coast" would be ready for you to release? At some point, the artist must paint the final brush stroke. This can sometimes be impossible, especially for someone who is a perfectionist. However, with this song, we really wanted the "live" feel, so we didn't do many overdubs or overthink it too much. Craig Bauer put the final touch on the mix, and with his stamp of approval, I knew it was done. From the start of your music career to now, what have you noticed about your growth? I feel like my confidence as an artist has grown. I have found my voice, and I'm not afraid to take chances. One of the reasons I wanted to pay tribute to Lana is because she is the epitome of an artist, someone who is constantly taking chances and redefining her sound. That is something I aspire to be.
