  • Exclusive Interview: Producer, Farismo Breaks Down His Latest Song; “Unseen”

Welcome to BuzzMusic Farismo! You stated you found your love for music technology when a class in school sparked your interest. Can you tell us about this class and in what ways has this experience impacted your skills today? This class in high-school had a huge impact on my life simply because at the time I was lost, I did not know what to do after high school or what my passion was. The skills I learned were pretty basic everything from midi sequencing and learning how to use a basic audio interface with a mic as well as basic level music theory. This all gave me a foundation that was pivotal for me to learn more advanced music production techniques on my own time. Honestly probably not the best thing because I made music after school instead of homework. Your style is uniquely catered to you! Can you tell us some more about your creative process and the way you fuse together both Chill Electro with futuristic elements? I admittedly explored many genres when I was learning and honing my skills. I started with a very ‘EDM’ centric tracks with a huge focus on drops and build-ups. But as my skills developed my taste varied and changed as I grew more in love with chill-out music such as ‘FKJ’ and electronic artists such as Madeon and Moderat. At the end of the day, I just make songs that I would want to listen to and if people enjoy it that is a huge bonus! What was the most challenging aspect of producing your single “Unseen” for you? In what ways were you able to grow from the obstacle as an artist? The most challenging aspect of ‘Unseen’ is the vocals. I am not a songwriter or a vocalist but then I realized that vocals are a huge part of a song to express emotion and thoughts so I thought this would elevate the track to a further level. Unseen is about being lost and having a friend to guide you through the unknown exploring the ‘unseen’ parts of the world you never knew existed. From your artist stand-point, what was your personal favorite element to “Unseen” and why? From my standpoint my favorite element of the track would be the ‘drop’ sections where the music turns to a more future bass style track, it has a perfect blend of the future bass style synths mixed with huge sounding 808s, with pitched vocals throughout. But what I am most proud of is the layering of my vocals as I do not have the best voice haha! What can we expect to see throughout 2020 from Farismo? 2020 and beyond will be very exciting for me as I have many releases planned for the year. The goal is six but you never know there could be more! Planning to release a music video sometime mid to end of the year and also start up the youtube channel finally. Listen to "Unseen" here. • Corbella Brings a Whisper to a Shout in New Release; "I Know"

Corbella, who came together as a band in 2018, have been working hard ever since to release their first EP. Back in June of 2019, the release of their self-titled EP gave them a foundation for writing and performances, and now they are back on their grind and ready to release new music. Britny Lobas, Russell Simonson, Alec Cabrera, and Ricky Jones have all added their own creative touch to the band, which has allowed them to merge rock and pop to give their own subgenre. On vocals, bass, drums, and guitar respectively, these four musicians are expecting to accomplish great things in 2020. “I Know” by Corbella is a powerful rock/pop track with mostly rock influences, with lyrics about overcoming struggles in your life, and realizing you are louder than you thought you were. The vocals are hardcore and gritty, accompanying the fast-paced drums and guitar. Corbella emphasizes phrases by layering the vocals with harmonies, which nicely fills out the sound of the track. The song is filled with empowering lyrics such as “raise my whisper to a shout”, that makes you want to sing along but also pass along a great message. Corbella has come off to a great start with “I Know”, and we are excited to see what more they can deliver in the upcoming year. Listen to Corbella’s “I Know” here. Hey there, Corbella! Thank you for sharing your release “I Know” with us, It’s great to have you here on BuzzMusic! Can you tell us about the creative process for “I Know”, and how you came up with the idea? Britny: Thank you for having us! Yes! Well every song we write is a different process. This song, "I Know" arose fairly quickly. We were all writing at Ricky's one day and wanted to create an upbeat feel-good song. Ricky started strumming some chords, Alec and Russ came up with a groove and I sang a melody overtop. We started jamming the idea and it just flowed. The theme of this song came from a period in my life when I was battling addiction and I was on the road to sobriety. We wanted the song to be relatable and empowering. It's about believing in yourself and finding the strength within to overcome anything. We loved the thought and detail you put into the lyrics for “I Know”, and we can see that this song has the ability to touch hearts, while still maintaining that upbeat/fun feeling. What is your favourite lyric from the song, and how do you hope it is received by listeners? Britny: Thank you! The bridge of this song says, "Run Strong. Girl hold on. Into the darkness you know that you got this, all day long. Stand tall. Girl don't fall. Rise up and meet um' yeah your gonna beat um' beat over the wall." Going through a period in my life recently with a lot of challenges to face and changes to make, I had a vision of who, what and where I wanted to be. I realize now I wasn't just singing to empower other people. I was telling myself, "Hold on you got this! Your gonna make it because your stronger then you think." I hope that message relays to everyone, because it's so true. What brought the four of you together as a band? Is music something all of you have always wanted to do? Britny: Bassist Russell Simonson, drummer Alec Cabrera and I had been bandmates in a previous project for a while and decided we all wanted to go in a different direction. So at the end of 2017, we took a few months off to re-brand, re-focus and find the sound we wanted. Shortly after, Ricky Jones joined us. He brought a whole new sound and different musical influences to the table, which was just what we were looking for. Music is definitely something all of us were born into and have wanted to do. We all have a thriving passion for it and have the same vision for where we want Corbella to go. Music for me was already set deep in my bones at a young age. There was really nothing else I wanted to do or could imagine doing. It's part of me. Thank you for talking with us today, Corbella! Tell us, do you have any upcoming shows planned for the promotion of your EP? Of course! Yes, we have a big release show in Austin, TX Friday Feb. 7th at The Mohawk! Joining us will be local Austin bands, Obsolete Machines and Skymomma. Following this release show, we have a lot of upcoming shows and festivals this spring and summer. Also planning some touring around Texas and the surrounding states! Plus an upcoming music video, new singles and an EP this fall! Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic

  • Rap Artist Mason Dean Releases Dynamic Album "Hyperfocus"

Mason Dean is back at it, and starting this New Year off with his album release "Hyperfocus". The Los Angeles native curated a 15-track record that truly highlights his foundational artistry, including what really makes Mason Dean, well, Mason Dean. Artistically, Mason Dean prides himself on being an open book, as he finds it incredibly important to have honesty flowing throughout any track. Like an artist who can either give a wired and enthralling experience or a laidback and more thoughtful experience, Mason Dean clearly proves that he has serious depth within his sound. We'll begin by talking about the most notable tracks from "Hyperfocus". The album itself is your typical Hip/Hop and Rap production, but embedded within is a strong contemporary and diversified sound. Mason Dean created this album in hopes to showcase his nurtured artistic abilities with his listeners and to establish more of a presence within the music scene itself. "Hairdown!" is one track right off of "Hyperfocus" that features that heavy magnetic and modern production we mentioned the album encompasses. There's no way you're listening to "Hairdown!" without feeling rejuvenated in some type of way. Mason Dean does such a commendable job at making his listeners feel regenerated and alive. This same quality of energy seethes out of "The Wave"--but be cautious with this one, it's more than just an energetic sound you're receiving. "The Wave" delves deeper into the personal and private thoughts of Mason Dean, specifically regarding religion, emotions, and experiences he's undergone. Mason Dean really hits it right with this track. We resonated highly with the lyrical outflow present in "The Wave", and vibed intensely with the slower and complex production. "Idontknow" gives a contrasting power than the other two tracks we noted. "Idontknow" offers up more of a low-key atmosphere, and allows for that more intimate connection with Mason Dean and his music. "Idontknow" showcases a hint of eclectic mixing at the beginning, but soon goes into a refined and shaped quality vocal performance from Mason. The track is definitely more eccentric than any other on the EP, which is what made it the one track from Mason Dean's EP that really stood out to us. But it isn't the only track that will protrude out to your ears more than others, that's for sure! Once you come across "Hyper", you'll fully understand what we mean here. "Hyper" encases an incredibly quality lyrical production. Mason Dean really gets down to business with this track and establishes a thought-provoking presence with listeners. "Hyper" gets into heavy topics and displays the inner perspective of Mason Dean on the life he has been observing thus far. It's the type of track that will really get you thinking in a different way. Similar to "Idontknow", but more content-heavy. Nevertheless, both tracks carry that vulnerable and authentic conduction of sound from Mason Dean, which we've come to appreciate highly from him as an artist. We appreciate that we receive that listening experience that feels more real and legitimate. "Back to the Coast" gives a mini hint in its title of what to expect. We receive more of that tropical sounding in this particular track from the album, which presents itself through both instrumentals and synths. The combined feeling that "Back to the Coast" imparts is atmospheric. Another notable track off of "Hyperfocus" was the bonus track "Ohmydayz", which offered more of a lighter tone than the other tracks from the record. "Ohmydayz" was definitely more of that hype-rap track with a collective production that felt more fun and easygoing. An element to Mason Dean's artistry that really stands out to us is his ability to switch up from genuine and astute soundings to more of a lax and chill environment. "Hyperfocus" has undoubtedly proved Mason Dean's versatility to us, as well as his ability to create and synthesize valuable soundings. Soundings that are not only fun and energy-packed, but soundings that give more of a serious and thought-provoking feeling. All in all, we felt extremely satisfied with Mason Dean's vocal and productional performance in "Hyperfocus". We're hoping that Mason continues with his music throughout the rest of 2020, mainly because we're intrigued and excited to see what he'll manifest next. • Wanduni Delivers a Strong Message in Latest Release "African Ghetto"

Born and raised in West Africa, R&B artist Wanduni is coming out with new and thoughtful music. Once Wanduni moved to Canada in 2006, he realized the type of sound and music he wanted to relay to his listeners. Offering up a refreshing perspective on the conditions he has lived through, Wanduni definitively uses his music as a platform. As Wanduni underwent considerable obstacles during the period of war, his curation of music never faced tribulation, as he persisted to synthesize the soundings that truly make up his artistry. "African Ghetto" flows in a very contrasting way to what you may be used to from the typical R&B scene. Wanduni offers up more of a West African R&B style, which is highly noticeable from his vocal outflow. "African Ghetto" outlines the experiences of Wanduni, and his perspective on the life he lives in West Africa, notably the struggles the area faces. Wanduni relays thought-provoking lyricism to listeners in "African Ghetto", and explicitly states the hardships Wanduni has witnessed and personally felt during his childhood. The war-torn country has a surplus of adversity that's yet to be communicated to many, and Wanduni takes the time in "African Ghetto" to share and community such information. The track itself is incredibly intriguing to listen to (and we mean really listen), so we highly suggest the BuzzMusic community takes the time to tune into Wanduni's "African Ghetto". • Get Into the World of Monotronic

Welcome to BuzzMusic Ramsey! What's the story behind "Monotronic"? Monotronic is my brainchild, that I started back in 2016 with a loose collective of NYC based musicians. It started out as a series of fun jams and gradually developed into something more focused. I write most of the music myself, but also collaborate with other musicians, both within and outside the core group of musicians that I formed the band with. You have accomplished some very impressive things; traveling through Asia and Southeast Asia, backpacking around the world and studying in Indonesia. How do you translate these experiences into your music? Life experience is a really hard thing to quantify! For sure I have picked up on some world music along the way. I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a year in India studying Indian classical music in a quiet university town called Shantiniketan a few hours outside Calcutta. During that year I came across some pretty serious musicians...and it was during this time I picked up lap steel guitar (played in the Indian tradition). You refer to "Monotrronic" as a concept. Can you explain what this means? Monotonic is a concept whereby each instrument can be heard as a continuation of the other and the music sounds as one distinct whole, emanating from a single source. It doesn't always work, but that's the approach and end goal I'm chasing! "In Your Head" is one of many good songs on your self-titled album. What inspired you to write this song? I think it was inspired by an EDM set I was listening to on Youtube from Burning Man...and over time it kinda took on a life of its own. It's really about the fine line between understanding and misunderstanding that often occurs when we are in close relationships. What can we expect to see from Monotronic through 2020? I'm working on 4 singles that are currently being mixed by Michael Brauer. They should be released about a month apart starting in March/April. • Regulus Red Debuts Hazy Single "Ghoster"

International artist Regulus Red is breaking through the music industry to showcase his prominent cultural variations. Having influences ranging from Lorde, Lady Gaga and Robyn, Regulus Red does a great job at integrating many features from each influence, but with a serious twist. His music is meant to be powerful and spirited, filled with a sense of life. On a real note, Regulus Red can also synthesize some crazy synth combinations, which makes his music stand out so prominently for us. One release the music scene has already seen from Regulus Red, "Ghoster", showcases this distinctive atmosphere he's notorious for creating within his songs. Refining his skills over the past two years, Regulus Red has crafted what seems to be an authentic style full of domination. There's a trippy element to Regulus Red's song "Ghoster", which features deep integration of booming synths. There is undoubtedly a strategic integration of ad-libs in the song, which attributes to that almost atmospheric-like feel. "Ghoster" gives a healthy dose of melodies that will make you feel mesmerized. We found that it's easy to become distracted by the deep vibrations of the track, which almost makes you miss out on the intended message of the track. Nevertheless, once you get into the intricacies of the lyricism, you're in for a treat. All in all, "Ghoster" keeps up their mystic and thought-provoking environment, making for an eccentric performance. You can listen to "Ghoster" by Regulus Red here. Welcome, Regulus Red! Let's start by talking about your anticipated single, "Ghoster". Where did you find the drive to create a single with such expressive and vibrant rhythms? Do you typically hone in on a certain ambiance you're intending to create for your listeners? Thank you for having me! So I wrote the song 'Ghoster' in a moment when I was ghosted myself. It was a Saturday night and I and my date had the whole evening planned out which obviously didn't happen in the end. But Ghoster did instead which I am actually more happy about! I see myself as "The Son of The Synth" for whom electronics and live instruments meet to create a new musical dimension. When going through both the writing and recording process of "Ghoster", were there ever any points where you felt you were being challenged artistically? Yes, I've worked with a few producers now and Sam (who produced Ghoster) had a very open way about him, yet he was incredibly fast, faster than I had ever worked before and I was coming from a very different process. With Sam, it felt like winning the 'Olympics of Music Recording'. At first, I was a bit scared of not catching up but then I saw I could do it at that pace and the result was fantastic! We love the message you hold on remaining completely true to who you pride yourself to be as an artist. Do you intend to use your music as a platform for many of the messages you desire to share with listeners, or do you see it more as an expressive front, strictly for entertainment purposes? I believe music, like theatre and film and poetry and any art form really, can be both. Music should be enjoyable and reachable to as many people as you want but if there is no message, no meaning behind the words and melodies, then I personally wouldn't be keen! I really want to make the world a safer and brighter place and music is my instrument. Thanks for chatting with us, Regulus Red! Do you hope to remain consistent with your sound in the next releases to come, or can readers expect you to shake up your style? I'd say I will get pretty consistent this year (electro-pop at its best) though I am also very experimental in the studio so, stay tuned. instagram.com/regulus.red facebook.com/regulus.red twitter.com/regulus_red #BuzzMusic

  • Ross Victory Details Lyricism And Glassy Vocals in with “Two Keys To Moonlight”

“Two Keys To Moonlight” is Ross Victory’s latest single release. “Two Keys To Moonlight” is an entire vibe. Beginning with production, the beat has a trap R&B aesthetic complete with a thumping bass to compliment the sensual and smooth-sailing elements that make this a great R&B hit. “Two Keys To Moonlight” is a contemporary “baby-making” bop that is perfect for the upcoming Valentine season. Back in the ’90s and early 00s, R&B was sleek, lightly erotic, and playful. There are certain R&B hits from the past that continue to be timeless. “Two Keys To Moonlight” has this same effect, which makes this song a future ageless hit! The arrangement is accompanied by Ross Victory’s intriguing vocals that are as sincere as it is smoky. He serenades the listener with each vocal dynamic and layers of emotion that serve to connect listeners with songs. A special characteristic of Ross Victory is the fact that he ties together both his love for literature and his love for music. As an author and artist, he’s able to create abstract concepts and paint vivid images for the listener with his detailed lyricism.  “Two Keys To Moonlight” was an outstanding hit released at the perfect season. • C.D.J. Strikes Us With His Flow And Hard-Hitting Lyricism In The Release Of His Freestyle, “I' Back"

C.D.J released his latest freestyle titled “I'm Back” and he isn’t playing around. Starting out, “I'm back (Freestyle)” creates a dramatic aesthetic with its augmented and elemental introduction that gave us a choir-like sound. Sort of similar to an introduction to a Meek Mill Dreamchasers single. This freestyle was everything that freestyle is supposed to be. In our opinion, freestyles are supposed to hit hard with a raw flow and real straight-forward bars. C.D.J. delivers this in an aggressive projection that makes it even more better! You can tell C.D.J has the hunger and determination for this through his flow. He raps with strong conviction and you feel his passion hit you like a wrecking ball. The tough aggression fused with the intense beat fabricates the perfect hard-hitting freestyle. C.D.J is a contemporary rapper with a classic style. He reminds us of the real rap spitters who knew how to create thought-provoking lyrics with a consistent flow. C.D.J is undeniably a rising star in the hip-hop industry and he has a great future ahead of him due to his natural skills that are actually displayed through his freestyle. Not many rappers can freestyle this way, but C.D.J isn’t like many rappers! Listen to “I'm back (Freestyle)" by C.D.J here. Welcome to BuzzMusic C.D.J! In which ways has your sound evolved since you first began creating music? Well first off, thank you for having me be a part of this. Secondly, I think my music has evolved by the manner in which I put rhymes together. Trying to get better at matching my cadence and rhyme scheme to the tempo of the beat. I'm still relatively new to music so I can only get better from here. Who are some of the main hip-hop influences that have helped shape you into the artist you are today? In terms of biggest influence, I would have to say its a tie between J Cole, Big Sean, J.I.D, and NF. They all have songs that have hard-hitting lyrics that also make you think about the message they are trying to convey. But they can also switch their flow and snap on a track without any hesitation. What’s your take on the current state of rap and what do you hope to bring to the industry that’s different? Currently, rap is the biggest genre in the world. It's in a state where people continue to evolve and push the envelope with new sounds and styles. I know this will sound like a cliche answer, but I just hope I can be myself and tell my story. A story that's believable to music fans out there. “I'm Back (Freestyle) was raw and hard-hitting. What is the message behind the tough lyricism in this song? There wasn't much of a message I was trying to send to anyone. I had been dealing with some things personally and had to step away from the music scene. So in terms of the freestyle, it was mostly me trying to prove to MYSELF that I can still hop on a track and do my best. What is the biggest challenge you faced when creating this freestyle and how did you manage to overcome the barrier? The biggest thing would definitely have to be proving I could still put some rhymes together and have a decent flow on the track. Of course, I doubted myself at first, but eventually, I regained my confidence back and voila, we have "I'm Back". I just cannot wait until people see what I have coming next. instagram.com/CDJ_521 #BuzzMusic

  • F.Y.E Takes You on a Journey with their Garage Rock Release of “Splinter”

F.Y.E provides various pathways to escape stressful realities with the release of their latest album titled, “Splinter”. This album begins with the song, “Bummer Cigarette”, a track that combines alternative instrumentation with a focused and fresh delivery. This approach provides an edgy, yet melodic vibe. “E, PT. 2” is a cool addition to “Splinter” because it gives listeners a hint of classic age garage rock combined with hard-hitting drum rhythm. F.Y.E. then layers vintage and electrifying guitar riffs into the music for a satisfying rendition. The vocalization from F.Y.E is piercing and has a cool, rasp element. It is the tone(s) of his voice that makes this song more badass! “Cloudy Sky’s” is a more delightful arrangement. “Cloudy Sky’s” helps the listener imagine a highway road trip with old friends, more good people, good vibes, and of course good music! It’s an upbeat and joyful song that’s great for traveling. The next song, “Chapter 2: Without You” has strong emotional conviction, with smashing instrumentation that keeps the alternative edgy rock aesthetic of the album firmly in place. Percussion soaked drums and sublime vocal delivery produces a warm welcome in the song. You can vibe with the lyrics and just feel the song call you away. “Teenage Love” is more groovy and funky than F.Y.E.’s other songs. Rhythm is headbanging and progressive, while guitar chords transport us back into the retro era of the rebellious 80s and 90s. The next song “Riverbed/Lungs” changes the energy vibrations into a softer dynamic, but manages to hold listener interest and create excitement. The heartfelt lyrics are delivered with a natural inflection that produces a nuanced appeal to the song. “Viens” has an interesting instrumental arrangement to the album that we appreciate. The bluesy rock fused with surf aesthetic is designed to result in an elemental environment that produces a comfortable, natural high!  The next song on this album, “Sex Bobs” exudes enigmatic energy. The rapid tempo keeps listeners on edge like an exhilarating rollercoaster ride. The closing song of this album is titled, “My Love”. This is a love ballad. “My Love” presents an appropriate closure to the album because it reveals a unexpected and different side to the artistry of F.Y.E. This love ballad illustrates affection, passionate emotion, and a soft vulnerable side of F.Y.E. This is in contrast to songs containing the energy in “Splinter”. F.Y.E has taken their lead from various of pop-punk bands that helped inspire them to curate according to their individual needs. The album “Splinter” showcases the multi-facet dimensions to one genre of rock. F.Y.E. keeps your energy pumping and takes you through a light psychedelic experience! You can listen to “Splinter” by F.Y.E here. Welcome to BuzzMusic F.Y.E! Knowing you’ve been practicing for one full summer on an old drum kit gifted by a friend, in what ways have you witnessed your skills and talent progress since then? Kahalawai: Ways I feel I have improved? Mostly I feel I have improved on branching out my style and not just sticking to the basics. Kaleo: What I have noticed is I am more original then I was before. I spent a lot of time playing with the sound that I want instead of playing the same chords. Nalu: I feel similar to them. Reaching out to different genres and trying new ways of playing, but I went back to the basics to play in my space better. Congratulations on your album release of “Splinter”! Tell us about the concept. What inspired this album and how does the title reflect its theme? "Splinter" was a lot more thought out then the first album. Its theme is based around a boy who fell in love with someone who didn't want to be with him. The songs are in order of the story. The list goes from when he first met the girl to what the outcome it became. We plan to post the lyrics so people can follow the story better. We loved the punk rock influence throughout many tracks such as “Teenage Love” and “viens”. How would you describe your approach to these songs? We have a hard time remembering how "Teenage Love" came to be. The lyrics weren't intended to be a punk song but did when we put them on simple bar chords and a fast beat. The song became a quick overlook of the hard parts of what it's like to be in a relationship. Memories from this song for us is of our friends who have been very supportive of our music. Charles and Beau were the first to hear it, and to watch them get super hype about the song meant a lot. Another person is Jose, the owner of TFG Studios, the one who recorded us. We laughed with him about how the beginning song because it sounded like a spy intro. So we all put our hands up like we are holding a gun, and when the drums came in, we started shooting. It's been a little inside joke ever since then. For our song  "Viens," we were inspired by the song "Last Nite" by The Strokes. You can hear it more in the drums than anything else.  Also, it was originally supposed to say "veins," but Kaleo made a typo when posting the songs, and we didn't notice until it was up. Instead of changing it, we looked up "Viens" and found out it meant "Come" in French. Our late-night drives inspired the lyrics. We would go to Del Cerro Park in Rolling Hills to look out at this cool view of the ocean. We were trying to create space from our issues, and it was a nice little vacation, but they always come back. “My Love” had a strong lyrical connotation! Can you explain to us further what this song meant to you and what inspired you to write this? "My Love" is about being miserable with someone but wanting to stay in the relationship. Everyone has an experience like that where this person becomes their world, and you almost can't break out of that thinking. People will tell you over and over that the relationship isn't healthy, but you want to make this person happy to make you happy. Rescuing can be such a bad habit of some, and it's definitely a relationship killer. So doing all you can to recognize this can be the best thing for yourself and the person your with because if you keep up all the saving, it eventually becomes tiring, and you might not look at the person the same. Thinking this is where my happiness goes and where it stays. What's next for you through 2020? Truthfully we don't have any plans for the year 2020. We are looking for shows, and we have a show on February 28th at Beatnik Bandito in Santa Ana. That's all we currently have. We are still writing songs but no guarantee of another album this year, but we enjoy it, so maybe. instagram.com/f.y.eband #BuzzMusic

  • A Door With No House Has Us Dancing Back to Shore with "Midnight Breeze"

Wow! We haven't stopped moving since the release of A Door With No House's latest single "Midnight Breeze!" Hailing from New Jersey, A Door With No House is a multi-genre band with an impressive repertoire ranging from funky bass lines to ground-shaking breakdowns, as well as smooth melodies and catchy lyrics. Incorporating rock to reggae, metal to hip-hop, they bring it all to deliver a thrilling live show. Forming in 2017, the band consists of vocalist Maya Deutch, guitarist Jason Caprioni, bassist/vocalist Dan Kinney and drummer/vocalist Adam Oates. Influences include A Day To Remember, Linkin Park, Incubus, Passafire, as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers. From start to finish, the chemistry between Caprioni, Kinney, and Oates is undeniable. Backed by a steady beat from Oates that leads the way for groovy, clean riffs from Caprioni and a funky, walking bassline from Kinney, Deutch provides a beautiful melody throughout with uplifting lyrics that will have you singing along before the track is finished. In earlier singles, "Ojos Rojos," "Thorn," and "Undead," this track takes a lighter approach to their multi-genre sound. They prove that they can incorporate funk to metal and provide an exceptionally unique listening experience. We look forward to hearing more from A Door With No House and all the success they have coming their way! "Midnight Breeze" is now available on all music platforms! Listen to "Midnight Breeze" here. BuzzMusic is thrilled to Welcome A Door with No House! We’re still grooving to your latest single, “Midnight Breeze!” You formed in 2017 and have released tracks that fluently showcase your multi genre range. What has the process been to grow your sound to where it is today? Our process has always been simply and organic. Dan, Jason, and I always jam out to whatever song we are working on. Usually someone will present a riff or melody, or even it will spawn from our session spontaneously. We all come from different musical backgrounds and have different but overlapping tastes in music. Once we have something solid, we start to ask ourselves, “Have we done this before?”, or “Does this sound like other material?”. We continuously push ourselves not to repeat and grow our pallets as musicians. After we feel we have a solid song then the vocal writing process begins. Depending on the song, sometimes it’s clear cut to what type of vocals should go with it (singing, screaming, or rapping) or what type of combination. Other times we strive to do the unexpected. We usually gather in a stripped-down environment (typically acoustic) to really channel in some strong melodies for the vocals. There we all express our ideas about the journey we want to take the listener through. While sometimes we write the lyrics as a group effort or one of us will present lyrics, we written beforehand. But like the instrumentals we try our absolute best not to repeat ourselves. -Adam We imagine when you play to a new crowd who isn’t familiar with you that it would be unexpected that your 2019 single, “Undead,” and “Midnight Breeze” would be from the same band in the same set. What does a writing session with A Door with No House consist of to get the perfect balance of light and heavy to create something so diverse and captivating, what genres remain untouched that you would like to explore? During our shows we tend to surprise new listeners and constantly throw them off our trail. It’s been described to us as a weird sensation of not knowing what will be next. Someone also said to me “I don’t know if I wanted to dance, smoke a fat blunt, or punch someone in the face”. Our balance mainly comes from constantly evaluating what we have already done and trying to build up our library. We have been wanting to explore more digital styles, like more synths and possible electronic drums. Or possible introduce more instruments we haven’t used in the past. We don’t plan on putting any limits on our material in the future, but we always make sure it is something that comes natural to us. -Adam Musically, “Midnight Breeze” is a song that makes you want to run the beach on a warm Friday night to start the weekend and leave any negativity of the week behind as you kick the weekend off, but when you examine the lyrics they reveal a more personal message of hope and inspiration to those who feel they may not “make it back to shore.” Was there a particular moment that inspired the lyrics for this track, or a message that you wanted your audience to take from it? Midnight Breeze was written at the beach. I would often head over to the lifeguard stands on the beaches of Long Branch with my acoustic guitar at night to jam and sort out some song ideas with the sound of waves crashing under the moonlight. I loved the atmosphere and always have been drawn to the ocean, so I wanted to write a song about it. I really liked the idea of the meaning of sunsets and nights in society over time. Way back in the time of hunter and gatherers, night was a time of possible danger. Predators would come out to hunt their prey at night. We see this theme played out in countless movies nowadays like The Purge and 30 Days of Night where the protagonists are saved by sunrise. In these scenarios, dawn would give a sense of relief and safety. Nowadays, it has changed to the opposite with sunset causing relief. We sometimes wake up every day before dawn, go to work, and are only saved from daily life by the night where we can truly be ourselves. When the sun goes down, life begins. The stresses of the day fades away, we spend time with friends and family, and work on our passions and dreams. Whatever happened in the day is over, it’s the past, and all that matters is the present. This song I hope reminds the listener that everything will be alright. Struggle is part of life and you are not alone. No matter the current or rough waves that life throws at us, we can all make it back to shore. -Jason “Midnight Breeze” explores lighter genres than your earlier singles, what could we expect next from A Door with No House? Who would you love to collaborate with in studio and go on the road with? Our next planned release is our debut full-length “Avant-Garde” which drops on March 21st, 2020. On that record we will have all the singles we released prior and 8 more songs. With that said the experimentation continued. The album features all sorts of alternative genres like jazz, funk, indie, and tango inspired rock. Along with that some of our heaviest music to come will be on this record as well. We would love to work with different types of producers of different styles of music. This record was done with Kevin Antreassian (Dillinger Escape Plan) at Backroom Studio. It was amazing working with him. But we wondered what it would be like working with different producers for our different styles. That’s an idea we hope to try out some day. As far as touring goes, we would love to tour with our new friends in Added Color. They hold a similar value in blending music as we do. The same goes for the band Passafire, with more of a reggae approach. -Adam facebook.com/adoorwithnohouse instagram.com/adoorwithnohouse
