Thank you so much for having me wicked pumped to talk about my music and career with you! So I grew up in the small town of Harvard Massachusetts, about an hour away from Boston. Music has always been a huge part of my life. My earliest remembrance of discovering music was through my mom. She introduced me to classical music when I was young and I absolutely loved it. While my dad introduced me to disco, funk, and rock. He had a big cabinet in our basement filled with CD’s he had collected over the years. As a child, I spent hours down there with my boombox listening to many different genres and generations of music. Let us just say I am very educated on 80’s music. My mom insisted when she was raising my brother and me that we play a sport and play an instrument. My instrument of choice was the drums, even though she had hoped it would be something a lot quieter like the piano so everyone living in my house wouldn't go deaf. That leads to a band with a couple of my close friends. We had a band called “The Back Seat Drivers”. We had such a blast, we even recorded some of our own original songs in a studio which is crazy. I'm sorry to the recording technician that had to record us that day, I apologize to your ears. Anyways, as time went on, we all got busier and busier. We found less time to meet and then before you knew it, I was back to square one, just me and my drumset. I found this frustrating as all I wanted to do was music. Around this time I discovered a techno record in my dad's CD cabinet. Amazed by the sound, as it was a lot different than the Van Halen I was used to, I researched more into the genre. This is the moment that changed my life. Hundreds and thousands of people cheering for one person, one DJ, one producer. That is who I wanted to be, I wanted to create my own original music and perform in front of thousands of people. In the summer of 8th grade, I started my own SoundCloud and pulled up Garageband and bought a cheap DJ controller. Even though the music I created sounded like garbage, the feeling of creating something on your own and putting your name on it was the best feeling in the world. I created the name ‘DJ Big Al’ and DJ’d small house parties around my town. Continuing to be persistent with this career path, I decided to take it more seriously. I dropped that goofy name and just went by my real name, Alex Magan. This is where I downloaded some professional software and plug-ins. I started branding more and eventually had a decent following within my school. “Endless Future” was my first major platform release. Watching people stream it, buy it, play it even though it was trash, was something that pushed me to keep creating and pursuing this dream of mine. Multiple releases later, I changed my name to “Don Kon”. All my life my aunt called me ‘Monkey’ due to my energetic lifestyle, that is where I got my logo. One day I was playing Super Mario Cart with my friend Johnny. I was playing as the character, Donkey Kong, and the idea of “Don Kon” popped into his head. From then on and 12 releases later that same dream I had as a 12-year-old kid has not faded. What was the most challenging aspect of producing “Friday Night”? The most challenging part was actually releasing it. I created this track over the 2019 summer and its release was about a month away from 2020. I never felt like this track was finished, I constantly was going back to it and tweaking things, taking things out, adding different elements. I originally didn't have the saxophone in the drop. I had a vocal chop I made from the vocals. As I kept listening to the song, it wasn't grabbing my ear. I needed something sexier, something that will get the head-bopping, feet moving, and booty shaking. What better than a saxophone I thought to myself. As soon as I added the sax, the whole vibe of the track changed. The only thing in the final release that I had in the first draft was vocal. That is how much I changed this track around. However, I am so happy with the way this track came out, I could not be happier. It really just shows you not to rush into anything and take your time. How would you describe the theme and vision you had for “Friday Night”? Originally I had the vision to create a rap track. I wanted to change it up from my normal dance music style and reach a different audience (which I later did with my song ‘Rari Talk’). However, as stated above, once I added the saxophone my whole vision for this track changed. I moved the tempo up to 128 and added all the elements of a dance track. That is what you hear in the final release. I vision this song in the clubs for sure. I made this song so people could dance to it. On the day of its release, I was at a college party and sure enough, I hear the words “Try to catch me with the feelings…” My jaw dropped as people were actually genuinely dancing and enjoying the song without even knowing that the person who made it was dancing in the midst of them. It's a song about being with your friends, partying, and having a good time. That is why I made this track, to remind people that Friday is right around the corner and those good times are ahead. What was your personal favorite element to “Friday Night” and why? My personal favorite element is the mixture of two different genres, modern rap and dance music. This is my favorite because it draws in two different crowds into one song. Rap is one of the biggest genres right now and I found a way to incorporate it into my style of music. I had also done this with my previous release “Roll With Us”. To me, the flow of a rap vocal flows perfectly with the groove of the bass and the four on the floor kick drum. It makes people dance while they can still enjoy the sound of rap they know and love. This is one of the reasons why I love the art of music, no rules, no instructions. It's all about how creative the artist can be to catch the attention of the listener to deliver something they have never heard before. I hope to continue to work with rappers in the future and keep adding these different elements to keep developing my own sound. What’s next for you in 2020 Don Kon? To keep doing what I love, making music and performing. I hope to reach more people with my music and expand my fanbase. I have my foot on the gas pedal and have cut the brake lines. I want to be able to do this for the rest of my life. Sitting back and letting a day go by when I am not promoting, practicing, or creating is not on my agenda. I plan this year in 2020 to get noticed by some big record labels and artists. I plan to get my music heard in as many places as possible whether that be on TV or on the radio or even in your local coffee shop, I want my music to be heard. I have big dreams and the drive to achieve them. I would just like to thank you for whoever is reading this. The support from my fans is something that keeps me going every day and I would not be where I am today nor be on the path I am headed without them. Shoutout to my Mom, Dad, and my family love you guys so much, the L town boys you guys are the real ones, and anyone who has listened, added, reposted anyone of my tracks, you are all amazing. Be on the lookout for Don Kon, because I'm coming baby. facebook.com/OfficialDonKon/ instagram.com/donkonmusic/ #BuzzMusic
- Mandi Crimmins Edgy Rock Sound Has Made Her a True Star of the Year
2019 has proved to be a bright year for Mandi Crimmins. She’s an alternative rock artist screaming aural warfare with her hyper-confessional music. Although a natural-born star, Mandi Crimmins is a seasoned artist due to her knowledge and schooling in music. Mandi Crimmins attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she received her bachelor’s degree in music in songwriting. She studied songwriting with top songwriters like Grammy award-winning artist Paula Cole, who become more like a mentor and friend. Mandi Crimmins has gained great recognition and praise for her talents. In 2019, Mandi was nominated in the New England Music Awards for “Pop Act of the Year” as well as a competitor in RADIO.COM’s “The Opening Act” to perform at the Hollywood Bowl. She had had the incredible honor to perform at numerous famed venues, such as Rockwood Music Hall in NYC, the Middle East Club in Boston, and at the Bowery Electric in NYC. Mandi Crimmins released her highly anticipated sophomore EP, “Metanoia”, which was released on the 25th of October. A concept album depicting her journey through great change. Metanoia takes listeners on a journey through facing their fears, their harsh-realities, and their pain so that they may come out at the end a changed and better person. Mandi’s single “Ashes” off the EP has performed exceptionally well, having garnered 17,195 streams. There’s no secret that Mandi Crimmins has been attracting great success for herself as an artist and with consistent releases, she’s bound to be a groundbreaking success. Listen to Mandi Crimmins music here. Welcome back to BuzzMusic Mandi Crimmins! In what ways has your time at Berklee impacted your music for the greater? Oh, man has Berklee impacted my music! When you’re there, you’re constantly surrounded by these incredibly talented creatives, who unknowingly push you to be the best possible artist you can be. You’re challenged to “not get comfortable” in your art, and to always be growing within yourself and your music. From the industry-professional faculty to the creative environment the school fostered, I learned to always be reinventing myself and my music. But mostly, I learned to believe in my music with my whole heart - and that’s an impact I’ll forever be grateful for. Which song has been the most monumental release for you this year and why? That would have to be “Ashes”!! I mean every release is always monumental to me personally, but the incredible support “Ashes” received upon release was unexpected! The fact that it’s been streamed 17,196 times on Spotify is absurdly cool and mind-blowing to me. It was a really pivotal song for me when I wrote it, so to see that it clearly resonated with others as well means more than I can say. In what ways has “Lying To Myself” and “Ashes” served as a great buildup to the release of your EP “Metanoia”? “Lying To Myself” and “Ashes” helped people really get an insight into my sound and what to expect from the EP. I felt like I had created this safe atmosphere to release Metanoia into, which was so important to me. Which song from your EP “Metanoia” was your personal favorite and why? That’s so hard because I love each SO much, but I’d have to say “Something’s Missing” was (and still is) my personal favorite. I’ve touched on this before, but it was the subject matter that had been messing with my head the most, so when I finally wrote this song I was able to release so much toxicity around me. How would you describe the theme for this project? Growth. And the journey back to yourself. Metanoia became an unintentional concept album because after I wrote Lying to Myself, a.k.a. when I stopped denying my problems, I opened this pandora’s box that I couldn’t get past without confronting. Which is when “You’re Still Here” (about depression), “Something’s Missing” (about a toxic relationship), and “Ashes” (about losing oneself) came about. What’s next for you in 2020? SO MANY THINGS!! I don’t want to give too much away, but there are plans to start shooting a music video soon! I also have new music and a local tour! This year will be massive. instagram.com/mandicrimminsmusic facebook.com/MandiCrimminsMusic mandicrimmins.com #BuzzMusic

A large part of my success is due in part to my team I have worked with most of them since I was 7 they have been able to help me grow as a performer as I've gotten older, along with putting in tons and tons of hard work to see my dreams become a reality. “Run Run Rudolph” is a very popular Christmas tune, What inspired you to create your own version of it? Run Run Rudolph is my favorite holiday song, and I love Chuck Berry as a performer and vocalist, it was a great fit for a fun holiday song! What have been some of the biggest struggles for you throughout your life? How did you overcome them? Not many people are aware I have a learning disability. I have an auditory processing disorder, and this affects my life in many ways. I have difficulties with reading, writing, and even responding to people in a timely manner when they ask questions (like this interview) because it takes my brain longer to process or understand what I am seeing, reading, or hearing. The way I deal with it is not to let my learning disability stop me from pursuing my dream even though it may be harder for me to read a script or hear a note correctly I don't let that stop me I just dedicate a little more time and a lot more effort to get it right. - Get Intense and Personal With Tremaine Morgan in "On Your Way Up"
From Dallas, TX comes the very talented melody hitmaker - Tremaine Morgan. Taking influence from everyone such as Steve Wonder to Usher to Snoop Dogg, Tremaine brings the party and the grind vibes into a sonic experience. Tremaine Morgan has recently released “On Your Way Up”, which is a reminder of the grind it takes to make it happen, but also has the energy of a house party. The song starts by slapping your ears with the vibe of going off at a party with all your friends, and then the lyrics remind us of what’s really important in life. Lyrics such as “Time to put your faith where your mouth is” speaks to him losing faith, but finding the strength to keep pushing. The hook of the song is an instant sing-along, not only because of how easy it is to catch onto but because of how great the melody is. By the end of the 2 minutes and 48-second song, you’re definitely wanting more, feeling inspired and ready to celebrate life. Moved by his experience with being a victim of gun violence, substance abuse, and a failed relationship, Tremaine has found spiritual growth and emotional healing. Something that most people don’t know is he also served in the US military and he’s ready to bring awareness to organic love, healing, purpose, and motivation. Make sure you check out Tremaine Morgan’s new smash “On Your Way Up” today, here. Thanks for taking the time to talk with us today at Buzz Music! What would you say was the hardest obstacle to climb over when working on your track “On Your Way Up”? During that time I was coming out of a bad relationship. When you first leave a relationship, you feel like your whole world is crashing down and when you feel like that, nothing else matters. I started to lose my faith, so "On Your Way Up" was a response to the struggle I was going through with my feelings. I made that song to uplift me and my listeners. To help them remember that we all go through bad times, but you are still "On Your Way Up" and don't lose faith when that struggle comes because God is preparing you for something better. I want my listeners to look in the mirror and hit play. Can you speak to your substance abuse and losing faith, and how you found the courage to change your life for the better? I did not have a substance abuse problem, but I did lose faith. I lost my faith because of the transition I was coming out of made me feel like a part of me was missing and I was finding a new me. I put all of myself into the relationship and that person, and when it ended I lost my identity. I started losing friendships and started to see people for who they really were which wasn't beneficial to my growth. I had no new music to write and no producers at that time. I started to lose faith in what my future held. At what age did you realize that music was your calling? I was ten years old. I would find old school records from my Dad's collection and sing Micheal Jackson. I was 8 when I sang my first song at church, but 10 years old is when I started getting hungry for music. I wrote my first song, and actually started coming up with routines, showcases, and talent shows Something most people don’t know is that you’ve served in the US military. What was that like for you and how has that impacted not only your music but your everyday life? I was in the U.S. Army for 4 years. During that time I actually met a few people. One particular person I met was a producer. It was amazing to meet people from all over and observed different lifestyles as well as new personal experiences. That experience gave me stories and ideas. I was able to put these experiences into my writing. It also exposed me to connections that were worthwhile. I was really involved and I was able to perform in Iraq for soldiers. Lastly, what do you want to leave your listeners and everyone reading this with? Once you find your purpose and calling in life, keep on going and stay consistent until it happens for you. Don't give up because not everyone will understand your journey or call. facebook.com/tremainemorgan1 instagram.com/tremaine_morgan/ #BuzzMusic
- Camlann's Atmospheric and Dark Sound Will Reel Attract Your Attention
Camlann is a prepossessing band. They collectively create dreamy lyrics that have a mysterious and hidden side to them. The melodies are dark, yet ethereal. Camlann's sound blurs between Dark Post-Punk, New Wave, and Shoegaze, which unitedly, generates a sound that is full of rigor. They’ve mixed a haunting feel with dreamy aspects of neo-goth sound which is the pinnacle of their unique sound. In doing so, Camlann has successfully made its name as one of the most exciting new Post-Punk bands to come. As a teen alternative Dark Post Punk band from Jakarta, Indonesia, Camlann consists of Vinyl Godfrey as the bassist, singer, and songwriter, Bayu Tri as the guitarist and composer, and Fauzan Pratama as the synth player. They also have their own producer, Zan, and Arachne, who also contributes to the writing of Camlann's music. It’s quite obvious this band doesn’t need much of a thorough introduction as their skillset speaks for itself. Camlann formed in early 2019 by Vinyl Godfrey, who always had a dream to create a Goth band. Camlann’s music is influenced by many types of eras, mainly in line with 80s traditional goth music, and shoegaze. The combined effect of the various sounds they integrate is definitely worth checking out. They released their first EP “The Arrival” in August 2019, and soon after releasing, Camlann joined the independent record label, Ordo Nocturno. If you’re wondering what Camlann’s currently working on these days, they’re in the process of working on their debut LP that will be out in 2020. For now, all we can do is patiently wait, listening to their current tracks to tie back our curiosity. Listen to Camlann and their music here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Camlann! What has been the biggest obstacle your band had to overcome so far and what have you learned from this? Time management is the biggest obstacle for us since we're still in high school students and we need to manage our time to study and music. From this obstacle, we learned that we need to improve our discipline more. Talk to us more about your atmospheric sound! Did you experiment with any new elements in the production of your first EP, “The Arrival”? Yes, we did, we experimented with the sound of 60s Surf and mixed it with Post-Punk and Darkwave. And we never thought that it'll be as atmospheric and nostalgic as this EP. Unfortunately, we will not make the same sound with our upcoming LP. What was the theme behind most of the songs on “The Arrival”? It talks mostly about mental illness and the dark side of human nature. The EP itself is very gloomy, and the lyrics are mostly hauntingly depressing too. How would you describe your songwriting approach to your single “What’s The Worth Of Living”? We usually write the lyrics first then the melody comes second. In this song, our bassist/singer (who writes this song), Vinyl Godfrey, really tried to express her mental state in this song. She was in a bad place at that time, that's why the lyrics are so dark and depressing. After the lyrics are done, the whole band composed and arranged the song together. Our sound is really influenced by The Cure and 60s surf in this one. The moody vocal, surfy guitar rhythm, melodic and dreamy synth, and upbeat drums made this song into a Post-Punk song that's influenced by 60s surf. How would you elaborate on the arrangement behind your single “I Can’t Forgive You”? In this song, we're going into a heavy darkwave direction. The heavy dark and gloomy synth and the industrial drum beats are probably the main reason why this song is so gloomy yet so danceable. We hear you’re working on your upcoming LP! What can your fans expect from this project? The LP titled, "The Forgotten Lost Fragments", and we're going into a brighter side of Post-Punk. We're mixing Post-Punk with Shoegaze and New Wave in this one. We're taking influence from The Smiths, The Chameleons, and Cocteau Twins in this LP. It will sound really different from our first EP. The first single from the LP will be released in December 2019. The LP itself will be released on mid-2020. instagram.com/camlannmusic #BuzzMusic

Hawk Shadow is the magnificent audio and visual artist from New Jersey whose rooted in the underground hip-hop scene. After freestyling and recording since 2009, he has finally created two record-breaking albums as we reach the end of 2019. It took a lot of practice to go from being a pure freestyle rapper, to a well-rounded and seasoned songwriting artist, but Hawk Shadow made it look easy! It hit Hawk Shadow like a wrecking ball (Shoutout to Miley of course,) that he had the ability to become a full-out artist. Ever since then, Hawk Shadow’s pen was on fire (metaphorically), and he wrote up to 7 songs daily! He no longer freestyles and he sticks purely to songwriting. Hawk Shadow has a fascinating background in art education and studied street art since high school, so his image primarily involves visual art as well. Hawk Shadow combines his multi-faceted artistry to create an exciting arrangement! Breakdancing, rapping, and graffiti are the three of four outlets in Hip/Hop that he practices. You can see it all come together in the way that the music videos and artwork are created. Hawk Shadow has released super intriguing singles this year, including his two full albums. Hawk Shadow is proving to everyone why he’s the newest face of Hip/Hop! Listen to Hawk Shadow here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Hawk Shadow! Tell us, how has 2019 has been for creating music? 2019 has been a fun year for creating music. I felt most inspired in the spring when I built my own home recording booth. It caused me to get more serious about recording demos which resulted in 21 songs throughout 2019. Tell us about your two albums! Was there any pressure for you considering the small time gap between your album “Refreshed” and “Colours”? The only pressure I experienced occurred during the few days before going to the studio sessions. I had to make sure to remember all of my lyrics and that I could record the full songs in single takes. I had a lot of leftover beats and demos after releasing the album "Refreshed", so the second album came together quite quickly and smoothly after. What are some of the challenges you faced in the creative process for “Refreshed”? I faced a few challenges while creating my first album. It was always easy for me to freestyle words that rhyme over a beat, but to write a full coherent song is a lot more challenging. I wanted my concepts and messages to make sense, so I spent a lot of time rewording my lyrics until it came out clearly. I didn't want to confuse the listener with rhymes that only I would understand. I had to not only write for myself but write as if someone is going to be listening to my song and perceiving my story. I ended up scrapping a lot of lyrics because I thought the message was too confusing. I also found I needed to record the songs at home about 20 times each until I felt the delivery was on point. It took a lot of tries and even more reworking to be able to deliver a song in one take; without running out of breath, stuttering, or sounding offbeat. What was your songwriting approach towards most of the songs in “Colours”? My songwriting approach on Colours was actually a lot different. I started to record outside as I wrote my songs. I would sit on my front porch and record a few lyrics to a song, play it back, and rework it until it sounded good. That is how most of my songs unfolded, outside relaxing, recording music. Which album would you consider your personal favorite and why? "Refreshed" is my favorite album because it was the first time I was able to write actual songs. It was exciting to memorize all of my lyrics for the first time and to practice recording at home in a brand new recording booth. It was also the first time I went to a professional studio solo, so it was a memorable experience for me. What’s next for you Hawk Shadow? I'll probably focus more on painting for the next few months because I feel inspired right now to work on some geometric compositions. I will continue to search for beats and build up enough material to produce another album. With new beats coming out every day by some great underground producers, I know that I will be able to make another album within the next year. I am looking forward to the next time I can get into the studio to express myself. instagram.com/hawk.shadow_ #BuzzMusic
- Yung Ballah Takes a Theoretical Approach to Music
Yung Ballah, all the way from Vancouver, Canada, feels blessed to be where he's at in his career. As a rap artist, Yung Ballah has been in the music scene for just over a year now. The desire to begin a relationship with music stemmed from personal hardships occurring in the life of Yung Ballah. These hardships inevitably stimulated Yung Ballah's interest to communicate such feelings to his listeners. However, the outlook they have on life has helped them get through the emotions. Yung Ballah says: “The way I see it though never dwell on your emotions, turn them into something productive and that you can use to help you grow as a person. You gotta stay positive to see positive things happen, if you think negative the same will happen in turn, always keep your head up no matter the situation. Yung Ballah aims to educate this philosophy to as many people as possible, especially in their music. We believe an artist’s music is much more meaningful and promising when it comes from a place of sincerity and pure intentions. When an artist speaks from an authentic place, their thoughts and feelings get expressed in the best way possible. The lyrics are not only more meaningful, but the music as a whole is much more captivating. Yung Ballah knows how to cultivate their listener with this unguarded yet philosophical approach to music. Yung Ballah's most recent single "Bottle O' Ciroc" captures the surging energy Yung Ballah is all about. It's the type of track that will 100% amplify your current playlist. Discover today! Listen to Yung Ballah's recent soundings here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Yung Ballah! How is it growing up in Vancouver? In what ways are you influenced by your environment musically? I love it growing up here, I feel so blessed to be born where I am. Sure I didn't grow up in the nicest neighborhood compared to the city but I still feel blessed every day to be here. I find that when I'm in the big city I feel so much more at home and it really inspires me to make music, going to the waterfront and looking at the beautiful view then heading to a lavish club and finishing off the night with talking to great people you just met all within a few block radius. This place is amazing I'll leave it at that. What was the inspiration you had behind the record “Fucked Up”? well, my ex was the inspiration for that like many of my other tracks, I don't know why but even after about 2 years I'm still stuck thinking bout her almost daily. It sucks but iv learned to make my emotions into something great :) How would you describe the songwriting approach towards “Bottle O Ciroc”? See now Bottle O' Ciroc was a lyrical MASTERPIECE. Nah, I was just really bored one day and was talking to this chick, couldn't figure out anything to write about n she said: "what are you doing?" My response was chilling bored as fuck with a bottle of Ciroc and the song was born with the rest of the events of the night. Which song between “Fucked Up” and “Bottle O Ciroc” do you feel was more challenging to create and why? Definitely f*cked up, I can handle getting in my feels to write music now but sometimes it gets hard, it is nice to finish a piece though and hear my emotions and situation in a way that I can understand and that doesn't get all jumbled up in my head. Can you detail us the production in “Bottle O Ciroc”? not honestly sure what you mean by detail production, guess I can shout out my boy that been engineering all my tracks and making them sound legit. He the reason this shtick really starting to happen n I can't thank him enough for it, check out @seblarivee for some hella dope mixes at a great price. instagram.com/Yung.Ballah #BuzzMusic

These releases combine the best of The Winachi Tribe’s funky, electro sound while making the listener feel the rhythm and groove to the beat. Their music is both dance and jazzy creating an eclectic vibe that will continue to take the world by storm. The Things You See is an especially beautiful remix showcasing the talent and energy The Winachi Tribe create in every piece of music they put out. Check out The Winachi Tribe’s music here! Welcome to BuzzMusic! You have an impressive list of collaborators you have worked with thus far, how have those experiences been? Thanks for having us back!! We've always had a collaborative approach to our music and think of ourselves more of a collective than just a traditional 'band'. There's the band side to Winachi as in touring, performing live, etc but there's also the studio side to Winachi which sees us doing a lot of remixes and collaborations with other artists...hence the 'Tribe' element. We've always loved and thrived off working with other artists, particularly vocalists who've featured on Winachi tracks as they bring their own flavour to the song, it keeps it fresh and exciting. Did you work specifically with Gary Allen and San Pedro Collective on their respective remixes? Or was it a completely independent project? They came about through mutual respect as fellow artists and friends. Gary Allen is like family to Winachi, he's our big brother, every time we're in L.A Gary looks out for us, someone we're lucky enough to call our true friend. He's such an amazing artist in every sense of the word. Gary's worked with everyone from the 'Red Hot Chilli Peppers' to 'Chaka Khan' so it was a real honour to work with him on the remix of his single 'Supernatural', we have another collaboration in the works with Mr. Allen which will be surfacing in 2020. The San Pedro remix came about through a collaboration between Antony from Winachi and Rikki from San Pedro. We've known Rikki for a number of years and is someone we have a lot of respect for, he always has a fearless, unique approach to all his musical projects and that's rare in these times we live in. We've got nothing but love and respect for 'San Pedro Collective'...we're excited to see where they take it in 2020!!! What was the musical process of making Parasites Paradise like and how was working with I Kong? This collaboration was set up by Tony Zhu who runs our Chinese record label 'Handshake Records' in Beijing. He was in contact with 'I Kong's' people and put the wheels in motion. We already had the music down and the chorus, so we sent over the track for I Kong to write and record the verse parts, it was that easy. I Kong's vocals came back and blew us away!!! that's the beauty of collaboration, working with such a talented artist as I Kong you get their slant and flavour on your track. What a true honour to work with such a legendary artist, we do feel truly blessed at times to do what we do. If you don't know who I Kong is then please do your homework, he is genuine Jamaican reggae royalty. Watch this space for further collaborations with I Kong!!! Who would be your dream artist to collaborate with? There's a few, me personally (Liam) I'd love to work with the king of collaborators 'Tricky', he's been a huge influence on my approach to music and collaborating with other artists. I'd also love to work with George Clinton and Sly Stone...George, Sly...if you read this give us a bell!!! I can't speak on behalf of the other lads in the band but I'm sure their answer would be completely different to mine!! What was your personal favourite release of 2019? 'Parasites Paradise'...like an I said it was a huge honour and privilege to work with 'I Kong', and completely unexpected, it came out of the blue so it that sense it was also a beautiful surprise. What’s next for you in 2020? 2020 will see us touring // playing festivals in the U.K & Europe. We also have the huge privilege of headlining the '2020 ISSA Awards' in Atlanta, Georgia on the 1st August. We have more collaborations that are set to be released next year, both in the U.K and internationally. We've got our album in the works with producer John X and a massive collaboration with iconic Italian fashion brand 'Pantofola d'Oro', it's a really exciting, unique project that we're excited to present it to the world...we think of Kim and the Pantofola company as our Italian family!!! This year has been mostly gluing together everything that was put in place in 2018, we're looking forward to 2020 and taking Winachi once again around the world. I'd just like to finish with a massive thank you to all our Tribe worldwide for the ongoing support, love, and patience!!! Haha, see you all next year...Liam // TheWinachiTribe. facebook.com/thewinachitribe instagram.com/winachitribe twitter.com/winachitribe #BuzzMusic
- Jandoelives Exudes a Vibe Through His Music
Jandoelives is a melodic puppeteer who aims to tell parables through his compositions. A multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto, his arrangements often revolve around various styles in which every song dances to its own trope, making each release unique and distinct. Jandoelives hopes to leave the audience guessing on what the next movement will be, taking them on a journey as he aims to crave his original sound in this musical sphere. When you listen to his music like “Tegami” you will find yourself absorbed in this radiating and positive vibe that you don’t want to escape. The instrumentation in this song creates this delightful energy that emits through the listener. Jandoelives isn’t your average multi-instrumentalist. He knows exactly how to fabricate a perfect song that gives you the most everlasting experience that can complement your current mood and enhance it fully. Jandoelives is a dynamic artist who knows the ins and outs of instrumentation. We were so mesmerized by the music that we found ourselves giving him repeated and repeated listens, thus proving to us that he’s not only abundantly talented but memorable as well. Jandoelives has impressed us so much that it was only right that we recognized him as the artist of the day, but his buzz is quickly growing and gaining traction, we are more than excited to see what else he has in store. Give a listen to "Tegami" here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Jandoelives, what’s the biggest challenge you had to overcome in 2019 as a multi-instrumentalist and in what ways have you overcome the obstacle? That would definitely be getting my music out there and trying to entice the audience with something original and different. As much as you have numerous platforms to get your music out there, it is difficult to find your place when you're doing something completely off current trends. It is easy for your music to get drowned out, especially so with songs that are over that 2.5-4min ticker and non-virtuoso instrumentals. The odds are already stacked against you from the get-go. Because my music is genre-defying, no one really has been able to put a label on which umbrella it nestles under, it presents itself as a marketer’s nightmare. I don’t think I’ve managed to overcome that obstacle really. Quite frankly, that’s something I’ve never been great at - that social media game, staying in a box and indulging in the current trends; selling myself to appeal to a market - which isn’t great in this day and age. Even more so when you're trying to get people to listen to your tracks! On that front, this year has been mainly about comprehending and appreciating that rhetoric. In hindsight, you understand your limitations better and evolve without compromising your own characteristics. This year I had my hands in all the honey pots, trying to release as much music as I can and doing it all on my own. But you get burned out man. Now, my working process is more streamlined. I will be working on selected songs over the next year, allowing myself to dedicate the necessary time for all the needed components, both the creative and the non. The year has really been about me making music again, inhibited, and enjoying that process. Not getting bogged down with all the marketing jargon and hindered with business schematics - which really is a job on its own. Because I do everything myself from writing, recording, mixing on a limited budget and a modest scope, you acclimate, keep learning and work within that environment. While doing this, you grow as a songwriter, mature as a player and understand your very thought process; you learn to become proficient and adapt to produce better mixes and be more controlled in your compositions. In a nutshell, developing my own sound and finding my own voice. As a multi-instrumentalist, the problem I had was trying to find a balance between creating new music yet simultaneously having to improve as a player in each discipline. This task became significantly easier once I knew what exactly I wanted of my ability and was needed of my playing in relation to both music I was creating or looking to compose, or just naturally speak with the instrument. There are always new instruments I'm fascinated with as well. That ambition never ends. A constant work in progress. Learning an instrument is a lifelong lesson. What’s the main theme you have behind your music? It really differs with each release, with the disclaimer being that themes are generally more open-ended when you write instrumental music that precludes itself from the traditional guide. Ultimately, my bottom line is that I’m constantly enthralled with melody and want that feature to be a prominent driver in my music. With that element in tow, the ideology is that every song needs to be able to tell her own story or, invoke a different vibe. Be it a jaunt in time, a nostalgic memory or just the remembrance of a special moment that I hope resonates with the listener in relation to their own life experiences. When they listen to the songs, I want them to be intrigued and guessing how the next passage of music will pan out without things being too formulaic; offering a little bit of something for everyone. With the eps or albums, musically speaking there will be a connecting theme, mood or atmosphere, allowing for themes to be expanded and fleshed out while leaving enough room for the music to be left to the listeners' interpretation. Are there any new elements you try experimenting with within your songs? Quite the opposite really. Right now, the newer tracks have me stripping down the layers and letting the tracks breathe more, allowing for more compact and introspective songs. Not to say there isn’t fun stuff (which there are!) but previously, I was more like that high octane kid in a toy store, whose Christmas came way too earlier. Battling the need to include and do more when faced with “Sophie’s Choice.” At times trying to overcompensate for my lack of skill. Now, I’m at a place where I can comfortably exercise more restraint and make better executive decisions that serve the song. There’s definitely more method and awareness in my current writing processing. What was your process and approach to your record “Drive by Baby”? I was trying to capture the meaning behind the essence of a journey, a memoir of a road-trip if you will. A song that narrates that although the destination is the end goal, it’s really isn’t the end goal. A journey, be it mentally or physically comes replete with the odd screwup and plenty of hiccups, for better or worse. But therein lies the spirit of that voyage - the route where memories are called. It is a concept we are all familiar with. If you listen to the track, you’ll hear more the segments are more pronounced and distinct, like pitstops along the ride. How would you describe the creative process behind your record “Japanese Whispers”? Whispers are about a one-way conversation between two halves. Where one is trying to communicate and reach the other. And as much as you try, you get nothing back. Eventually coming to a realization that you have to accept and respect the reality of that indifference, but yet all you want to do is continue to try, wistfully hoping for a breakthrough. This is one of the earlier songs I wrote and mixed, and production-wise you can really hear me still learning the craft. But you work with the tools you have, and try to represent the song as best as you can. Having said that, I still value that raw underproduced fragile timbre of the guitar solo around the 2.50 mark, giving the song that added emotional depth and truth. What’s next for you in the New Year, Jandoelives? I have a collection of songs in an upcoming release entitled “Rebirth” which I’ve already completed, upon which you’ll hear a sharp shift in the future compositions. Next year’s songs will be more lyrical and releases will be more attuned to the theme that is to be delivered. I will be working on more contemporary tracks, which will enable that change in my playing style and arrangements. Perhaps a more mature and simplistic approach. I plan to release about 4-5 songs over the next year. Music I'm personally really proud of. Having said that, if time permits, I really wish to release a couple of summer songs, which I’ve already written, recorded and kept in my stable for the longest time, and perhaps a couple of electronic orientated tracks, as a followup to “The Jinkxd Protocol” just to keep that “tradition” of jandoelives going. facebook.com/jandoelives/ instagram.com/jandoelives/ #BuzzMusic

Welcome to BuzzMusic Charlee Bravo! Talk to us a little about your upbringing! What initially motivated you to pursue music? Wow, that's an awesome question! I came up in Detroit, Michigan literally the "Motown". I didn't have much growing up in and out of home life wasn't all that stable all the time but, I found comfort in entertainment. I wanted to entertain people all the time. The first time I picked up an instrument was in 1st grade, I don't know how or why but it felt right. I started playing the trumpet as if I already knew how. I learned how to read music in weeks. The ultimate push was when I took the bus with my mom, aunt, and cousin to see 8 miles. Seeing Eminem rap.. was all I needed to know that was exactly what I wanted to do. What was the most challenging obstacle you had to face in your career this year and in what ways were you able to overcome it? The most challenging part of this year has been learning how to truly market me. Of course, not many artists think about marketing but I realize how important it is. I've learned my demographics and other important parts like location, age ranges to run promotions more effectively. You had great success this year with your music! Which single out your 2019 releases do you feel was the most monumental for you and why? This year's champion single is definitely Purple Punch. The all-around vibe and feeling the song gives off is incredible. People feel good when singing the lyrics. I feel there energy when I sing to them. It creates a mutual relationship and vibe with my fanbase. Let’s talk about your single “New Draco” how was this able to set the year off for you in a good way? What element of this record was the most surprising? New Draco is my baby! Produced by JnoBlase and the video shot by 8954media in Atlanta, Georgia. I tour Australia with Icy Narco and New Draco was the bomb I came back to the states with to set off my year! It boosted my momentum so good with the energy of the song, to the cuts and perfect edits of the video. I was most surprised by how much energy I was able to put into the record while recording it. Amazing! How would you describe your songwriting approach to your songs like “Gelato” and “Freeze”? Gelato is another personal song and full of emotion, raw emotion. It came from my heart... from my soul. I don't know how I wrote it but, it came out! The freeze was a fun song I wrote. I love telling stories in my music. Describing what I'm doing and what's happening around me. I wanted people to dance when it came on. Mission accomplished both times. What’s next for you in 2020 Charlee Bravo? 2020 is gonna be a big year! I don't want to say too much but expect me at some big festivals, opening up and headlining. One secret I can drop is, I will be starting off my year with a song called Good Burger prod by JnoBlase! Rest your ears because when this one drops... you'll probably break that repeat button. instagram.com/charleebravo_/ twitter.com/charleebravo_ #BuzzMusic
