  • Getting to know Emily V

You are an amazing violinist. How long have you been playing? Thank you!  I have been playing for almost 24 years. Was the Violin your first instrument of choice? YES!  I begged my parents for lessons. Dream stages you hope to play someday? I don’t have as many “Dream Stages” as I do “dream Bands’ to perform and collaborate with, but I have always had a dream to play Red Rocks, The Hollywood Bowl, and Madison Square Garden to name just a few. Who have been your biggest musical influences? Definitely Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, David Laflamme, Led Zeppelin…. There are so many but those pop up right away. When you aren’t playing, what do you like to do when you get free time? I’m usually getting ready to play!  Or, take time to relax, write music, be with my family.  I love the outdoors too, so camping, surfing, snowboarding, bike riding. Favorite spots in LA area? To Play?  To Eat?  Haha, um I’ll answer both…. I’ve played a lot of places, so I think whoever has a good stage sound and sound engineer.  My favorite place to eat that I’m obsessed with right now is “True Food Kitchen”. What is the last record you purchased and do you primarily like to listen to Rock n Roll? Feral Roots by The Rival Sons!  These guys are some of the best current Rock we have out there and I can’t wait to share the stage with them! I listen to ALL kinds of music. What are your plans for 2020? I’d like to release some original music and also perform with my top ten bands that I want to perform and collaborate with. www.instagram.com/emilyvofficial www.facebook.com/emilyvmusic #BuzzMusic

  • On the Rise: What’s Happening Next for Hip-Hop's Owl Green

Making his name known throughout the Bay Area and beyond, Christopher Catalano, better known for his professional name Owl Green, has an inherent passion for music like no other. Owl Green has a drive and fire for music in him that’s sometimes lacking from modern artists hoping to make it big. He’s been working towards perfecting his crafts for over a decade, including two years of vocal training to solidify his sound. Inspired by legends like Andre 3000, Nas, Anderson. Paak, and Frank Ocean, the prolific hip-hop artists delivers his own echoing renditions. Self-described as “lo-fi vibe with swing and swagger,” Owl Green aims to bring his individual sound across the West Coast and throughout the country and more. This year, Owl Green released his 3-song EP “Tuesday” which received much praise from listeners and media outlets. The overall concept of the EP was to cover all spectrums of the versatile artist’s talents. He also gave it a title to stand out, since “Tuesday” is the only day of the week that doesn’t have a purpose designated to it, Owl Green created one. He’s one of our absolute favorite artists for his lyrical concepts, the way he energetically drives his performances on and off the stage, and the way he’s involved with art in many forms. Not only does Owl Green make music but you can catch him making his name known in the photography and podcasting worlds as well. Stay tuned for more! Listen to the EP “Tuesday” by Owl Green here. Hey Owl Green, welcome back! We're completely captivated by “Blah Blah Blah”, you have such a strong and energetic presence throughout your tracks, comparable to Chance the Rapper. Can you tell us more about your intentions when you first began to curate this release? This track for me has been a long time coming. I think for a few years now I've really tried to create a track like this and my biggest issues are trying to find a beat that matches this style. When I found this track I instantly knew what flows I wanted to use and what I wanted the track to be about. It's a fun song, and I wanted to make it a song that is fun to listen to but also has an uplifting meaning to it. You've had such a strong love and passion for music at such a young age! How do you think you and your music have grown since you first started writing, versus now? I would have to say my biggest stride as a writer is just my overall technique in general. I used to just want to say the hardest thing and rhyme well. Now I approach every 2 or 4 bars with a new style or rhyme scheme. I also know in what part of the track I want to write certain flows or melodies. Also the adding of that melody really helped me break through some new really cool sounds. It has helped with my spacing which has carried over to the rap side and I've felt a difference. We’re really vibing with the “Tuesday” EP you put out this year! If you had to point a new listener to one of your tracks to get an overall feel for your sound, which track would you choose?  The track I would point them to is "I Swear." It further shows all my best qualities as an artist and has a dope ass hip hop vibe. This track really is one of the best versions of a song that people expect to hear from me. Good bars, both witty and goofy, a vocal melody breakdown, ad-libs, and a dope beat. I think the one thing that people find in my music is that no matter how fun or vibey the track is, it's relatable. And I think this track has that element, it has a really hopeful outlook and a "start your day off" type of song feel. What was the filming process like for your video for "Spend That"?! This is actually a funny story, this video concept was drawn up way different than the final product. The original idea was to film the first half of the video in a house in the Hollywood Hills and at a black and white party. Last-minute I scratched that idea because it was becoming too hard to coordinate with extras and locations. I ended up just renting a studio with plain walls in downtown Los Angeles. A lot less eventful but or cool but it got the job done. The second half of the video went as planned. I went with a nighttime walking around in the city feel. my main goal was to find places with cool lights so when we did the post effects we had some light elements to work with. All in all the video took only 2 filming sessions, no reshoots and a lot of post effects by my main video man William Dubb. What have been the main changes you’ve noticed in the music industry within the time you’ve been making music? The biggest change I've seen in music since I have started has to be how much power the artists have today. With Instagram and other social media platforms artists nowadays can become huge without having to get signed to a label. The biggest listening platform used to be radio, now it's Spotify. And guess what, anyone can upload a song on that platform. I think you also see because of this, artists now are more likely to be a "do it all" kind of artist. Like they make all their own beats, edit and film all their videos and do all the design work for merch. The power is in the hands of the creator these days and it's a beautiful thing. It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this EP release? Any shows in the near future? Thanks for having me again! What you can expect from me next is going to be another video drop from my EP, still, have one in the chamber. After that, I will be releasing some singles. I have a few collabs I am super excited about to start off the year with some artists I'm stoked to be working with. I have some new sounds and vibes I'm excited to share, and nervous haha. I also have another EP I've started to work on as well so a lot of new music and content coming your way. Show wise I have one coming up here in LA on December 4th, stayed tuned to my Instagram for more information. twitter.com/_owlgreen instagram.com/_owlgreen facebook.com/owlgreenmusic #BuzzMusic

  • New Music: Shaun November's "The Takeover"

Singer/ songwriter Shaun November is a native of Inglewood, California. He grew up in a family that didn't come from musically inclined artists or musicians. Instead, in his teen years, he taught himself to play the piano while producing beats on an old computer that was laying around in his garage. Due to the fact that he was raised in a household with Pentecostal beliefs, it wasn’t until his teenage years where Shaun was introduced to certain genres, which led to interests outside of the Gospel. Being one who thoroughly enjoys writing, Shaun displays lyrics that are fueled with emotions of his experiences along his journey. Facing many obstacles and difficult events along the way and struggling for years to reveal his heart and mind, Shaun found the urge and inspiration to do so in his own unique way upon completing college. On the verge of releasing his EP, Red Winter, Shaun released a single recently in 2019 “The Takeover”, a very relaxed R&B track with a Soulful and warmth vibe along with rich singing vocals. This slow tempo song will put you into a state of mind that will calm you from any situation. A song that displays the effect of love or deeply being into someone where you're wanting her all the time and needing to be next to her. We really enjoyed this track and are super excited about the release of Red Winter. Listen to "The Takeover". instagram.com/shaun_2many #BuzzMusic

  • “Mariners Apartment Complex” by Nathan Zarowny is Authentic to the Core

Nathan Zarowny is a young up and coming artist hailing from Alberta, Canada. Growing up with a wide variety of influences, Nathan says there were constantly different genres playing throughout his home. Nathan Zarowny has been swiftly earning himself a large fanbase through releasing covers on social media. Now he’s released an enchanting pop ballad titled “Mariners Apartment Complex”. Personally, I think Nathan’s voice is similar to that of Shawn Mendes, not just because they are both gifted Canadian artists but for the pure, intentional passion behind every word. Beginning with a gorgeously stripped acoustic aura and Nathan’s stunning vocals, “Mariners Apartment Complex” doesn’t take long to evolve into a bone-chilling, heartfelt track. You can hear that Natan has poured his heart and soul into this release. The overall sentiments and powerful lyricism envelope the listener at every step of the way. Although the track is more somber, it’s captivating, alluring, and beautifully done. I’d love to hear “Mariners Apartment Complex” in an intimate live setting to truly showcase Nathan Zarowny’s charisma and sheer vocal power. Well worth a listen! Check out “Mariners Apartment Complex” here. Hey Nathan Zarowny! Do you believe that the way you intend to communicate your messages through your music is easily received by your listeners? Hey I feel like posting covers on social media for the last two years the response has been really positive, and I appreciate everyone that's shown their support. When the time comes to release original music and even with this studio cover. I hope people will able to connect and feel the message I'm trying to send. “Mariners Apartment Complex" was an incredibly versatile and beautiful track. Where did you draw the inspiration to create this particular type of sound? Thank you! When I first heard this Lana Del Ray song I was so drawn towards the melody and emotion it brought. This song is originally played on the piano, but when bringing it to the studio I thought it would be a cool idea to do have it changed up to an electric guitar. I wanted to try and put my own twist on this song while still keeping the originality of it. How would you say that “Mariners Apartment Complex” compares to the kind of music you curated when you first started out as an artist? This is actually the very first thing I’ve ever recorded, but since this cover, I feel like I have evolved and grown so much and I'm excited o show that with future releases! Do you prefer the more intimate recording process over live performance? How do you personally feel when you're performing your music live? One of my favorite things is going into a studio and really trying to pour emotion into everything I sing, and to be honest I actually don't have a lot of experience performing live but that's something I'm really going to be striving for in the new year. It was awesome to be able to present “Mariners Apartment Complex” here on BuzzMusic! What do you think is next for you as an artist? Where do you hope to progress within the next couple of years? Thank you again I greatly appreciate it. After this, the next thing is definitely original music and I can’t wait for everyone to hear! No dates yet but early 2020. In the next couple of years, the dream would be to progress into playing live shows as often as I can, maybe go on tour, and the hopes that everyone will be able to connect with the music I put out into the world. instagram.com/nathan_zarowny #BuzzMusic

  • Getting to Know Jay GaineZ

Hey Jay and welcome to BuzzMusic. At what age did you develop an interest in music and what inspired you to become a music artist? I was 14 years old when I first started rapping my interest in music came from my family, it was someone always playing music in the house, and I was really inspired by writing poetry at first and just evolved into this passion for music. Originally from the west coast Los Angeles, California, what brought you to Canada and do you ever plan on returning back? Was it a tough decision to leave the roots of where you grew up? I moved to Canada because I got married to a Canadian girl, and now have kids so I’m taking care of my family, I plan on moving back hopefully soon because I do get homesick there’s no place like California, so yeah it was very hard to leave family, friends but this is life we love life and grow. What kinds of struggles have you faced along your journey and how did you overcome them? Were there any artists in particular who have had a positive effect on yourself? In the beginning, I struggled with trying to find a place to record my songs I eventually invested into a Macbook, interface and a quality studio mic. From there I taught myself how to record quality songs from my closet. Not being able to afford studio time the extra money goes to responsibilities. There have been many artist and genres of music that has had positive effects on me, an artist like Nipsey Hussle, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg to Trey Songz Tank and T- pain. You bring such unique sounds together with R&B and hip-hop genres. Do you plan on blending any other genres into your music at any point? Thank you, I have blended country and rock but haven’t perfected my sound in those genres but I am always trying new ways to make eccentric but great quality music. Thank you so much for your time. What's next for your journey as a music artist and what can we expect to hear from you next? Any makings of an album happening perhaps? I am really being hopeful to start performing and doing live shows while building a deeper fan base, by next year I will be more known by the content people here. I recently dropped a new music video shot by 3rd vision media “Money Bad“ out on YouTube now and yes, I am working on a project called “Laidback Therapy ll” it should be dropping next year sometime. instagram.com/kutz_by_jay #BuzzMusic

  • "November" by Hunter Ambrose Is the Perfect Winter Track

Developing herself self as an artist for the last 6 years, Hunter Blair Ambrose is a pop and R&B singer/ songwriter. Originally from Manhattan, she has recorded and toured across the United States in cities such as; Los Angeles, Nashville, San Francisco, Chicago, Indianapolis, Orlando, Jacksonville, Washington DC, Bostin and New York City. Not shy to the international scene she has also lite up stages across the world in; Mexico, Guatemala, Japan, Canada, Italy, and France. Hunter’s musical career kick-started as an undergraduate at Boston’s acclaimed Berklee College of Music. She was picked up by Tarpan Records’, Narada Michael Walden, producer to many of the greats including; Whiney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and George Michael. This summer she released her first debut single, “Right Now” and last month her second single, “November”. “November”, features writing credits from RedOne and Lady Gaga! Taking hints from Gaga’s style, Hunter is able to match this mezzo-soprano vocal type with her own individual flair and finesse. Starting out soft and building at the chorus with phrases, “and in every year in mid-November, I’m the one you remember, nooo oh”. We especially love her vocal technique and wavering tones throughout the song. This track will no doubt light up the club with smooth echos and likable beats. It's that song you listen to once and can't get out of your head! It's perfect for all of your feel-good playlists for any occasion. Listen to "November" here. Hi Hunter and welcome back to BuzzMusic! You portray a new and upcoming pop changing, “November” is easy to like from the get-go. What inspired you to become an artist? First of all, thank you for the compliment on ‘November’. That song was highly emotional and serves as a personal highlight of my career so far! I always had the ability to sing from a young age, but becoming an artist was something entirely different to me. I saw how iconic artists that I looked up to like Gaga, Michael Jackson and David Bowie really shaped culture and had a strong influence on their lives. Their careers shaped like and I strive to have an all-encompassing, multi-faceted career as they have had. Given that Lady Gaga is one of the writers involved in the creation of “November”, how much of her vocal style influenced your production and what was it like working with her? We initially reached out to her team to interpolate a melody from her 2009 song Alejandro as the main hook to my song ‘November’. Her vocal style has had a tremendous influence on me and we wanted to echo the inspiration she’s given me in this track for sure. How does “November” vs. “Right Now,” compare? Any common themes you are trying to express with these singles? I jokingly have labeled my first single, ‘Right Now’, as hot girl summer and this new single ‘November’ as sad girl autumn! We really wanted to channel elements of the dark pop and alt-R&B styles that I love so much into this particular track. November is more melancholic, introspective and lyrical. We really wanted the soundscape to evoke the theme of being haunted and I think my producer and I achieved that. We love your pop/ R&B rendition; do you see yourself expanding on fusing other genres into your work? I actually am starting new collaborative projects with house/EDM producers starting in 2020! That will be a new genre for me and I’m really excited. In terms of my next project, I think we’re going to implement some heavier industrial beats and deep house elements. Thank you for chatting with us, when can we expect your first album release? My debut EP, Scorpio Season, is dropping at the end of this year to symbolically tie a big ribbon on the decade before 2020 begins. I can’t wait to share it with everyone. We’re planning on releasing a follow-up EP, Scorpio Season II, in October 2020. hunterblairambrose.com #BuzzMusic

His vocal dynamics are soft and genuine, making for a welcoming atmosphere. The subtle incorporation of the violin into "I'll Leave a Key by The Door" brings in a complementary contrasting melody. It's a more formal execution in terms of the lyrical and vocal elements, and Fuller French can successfully rock the traditional sounding. "I'll Leave a Key by The Door" will have your heart feeling warm and fuzzy. Fuller French has a warm sparkle to him and the way he executes himself and his sound within the music video for this recent track. As an artist, Fuller French makes for an intimate experience within the time you're listening to him in "I'll Leave a Key by The Door", and it's most definitely an experience that won't be forgotten! Listen to "I'll Leave a Key by The Door" by Fuller French below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Fuller French! Thanks for taking the time to talk about your recent music. How have you felt since the release of your latest single "I'll Leave a Key by the Door"? Thank you so much, and I’m really happy to speak to you.  “I’ll Leave a Key by the Door” is the second song released from my ‘Champagne Rendezvous’ album and it’s very exciting for me that both singles broke the Top 40.  It’s a different song in that it’s slow and mellow but lyrically packs an elusive punch.  It’s an alluring invitation wrapped in sweet delivery but the meaning is evident. How were you able to successfully embed your emotions into "I'll Leave a Key by the Door"? Does this process of sharing your personal thoughts and feelings come naturally to you, or is it uncomfortable at first to be so exposed to your listeners? I never fully share my personal feelings as I feel that there should always be an element of mystery. But, with every song that I write I like to incorporate some personal experience, or at least some Fuller French personality.  This song definitely falls into the latter category as it’s not based on any real event but exudes the sly smile that I might have should this situation ever present itself.  It’s a playful song and romantic through and through. What would you say was the big takeaway from "I'll Leave a Key by the Door" that you wanted to communicate to your listeners? The main takeaway is that romance never dies.  It might go on hiatus for a little while but it can be rekindled at a moment’s notice. When are you planning on performing next?! Can you describe what it's like performing your music to a live audience, and how it compares to the recording process for you? There are some performances in the works, maybe in the next few months.  I’m working on exactly what performance will look like as I have so many styles and types of music.  There’s Smooth Jazz, Adult-Contemporary, pop, orchestral and even a new version of “Champagne Rendezvous” coming out in a Mike Smith EDM remix!  Whenever the performances commence, fans can certainly expect an extraordinary experience. Thanks again for coming to BuzzMusic to talk about your latest single! What goals are you trying to reach next after this single release? My goal is to continue creating a variety of different kinds of music all exploring the themes of romance and mystery.  I love the idea of creating things of beauty that might have meaning or provide inspiration or joy to people.  And, with the release of the new EDM remix of "Champagne Rendezvous", an entirely new audience will be exposed to the Fuller French experience! fullerfrench.com/leavekeybythedoor #BuzzMusic

  • The Noodle Boys Bring Their All for Song ‘Departure’

If you’re looking for a band that puts their all into a performance, The Noodle Boys certainly do just that. Lead vocalist Brett Frigon is also a master of the drums, driving the songs home with gritty vocals and killer beats. These musicians are always looking for ways to bring more energy to their music, and their music videos really amplify the crazy, over the top atmosphere that the band is going for. If their live performances are even half as energetic as their music video scenes, you’re in for a treat. ‘Departure’ is a primarily rock and roll track, with elements of indie and soul. It features impressive guitar and lively drums. Brett Frigon catches your attention with his vocals and animated lyrics, really setting the tone for the music video. As the video begins, the band members are all on stage, for what seems to be a normal gig. But if the lyrics of the song are any clue, ‘Departure’ is anything but a standard performance. They find themselves walking into the woods for a wrestling match, and eventually to a house party, where they let loose and have fun for the night. True to the lyrics of the song, the band wakes up on the roof of the house in obvious confusion about what happened the night before. Clearly the noodle boys partied a little too hard! Their sound is perfect for an energetic and fun performance, that would most definitely not be one to miss. Listen to 'Departure' here. Welcome to BuzzMusic, boys! Tell us a little bit about ‘Departure’, and how did the song come about? This was the first song the band had written since Brad and Tom joined. We weren't trying to specifically write a song but Tom started playing that bassline while we were having an impromptu jam to get warmed up. We all really liked the feel of it. Brad worked out a simple guitar melody and we tried it again. This time it was like everything fell into place, Brett started playing a pulsing beat and singing “Four, four is the number” and went on riffing for a while. After about 5 minutes and nothing but smiles in the room, we had most of the song worked out. It was a pretty exciting moment being the first song we wrote all together. Loved your music video for ‘Departure’ as well, did you have the idea envisioned during the writing process, or did it come after production of the song? We all had so many fun and interesting ideas for our first music video, we were feeling a little overwhelmed. “Is there anything we can’t do?” I remember one of us asking. Ultimately, Cody and our Videographer Jana drove around the greater Vancouver area for a day and scouted out some spots to shoot. Next week we went to the locations with props and a very rough idea and just had fun with it. We were doing things just at the moment, have the mentality that there was no such thing as a bad idea. How long have the four of you been together as a band? We have been playing together as a four-piece for 3 months now. However, the band originally started 2 years ago as a 2 piece! Did you always know you wanted to become a musician? When did you realize that music was the path for you? We have all been drawn to music from an early age, like a lot of people. It wasn't until our adolescence that we discovered our love for playing until we realized the connections you made with others by doing it. It really is an amazing realization, finding a part of yourself that will someday define you. What city are the noodle boys based in? Do you travel often for live shows? We are based out of Vancouver, Canada. We have lots of tours planned this spring and summer in anticipation of the release of our new E.P. So we’ll see you soon! instagram.com/thenoodleboyssound facebook.com/thenoodleboys #BuzzMusic

  • New Single “Forsaken” Predicts an Incredible Upcoming Year for She Cried Raven

She Cried Raven is striving to create long-lasting music that will impact those who listen for many years to come. Based in Los Angeles, California, the band is testing the boundaries of creativity and songwriting, in hopes of sparking inspiration in the music industry in their wake. They bring an eclectic aspect to traditional punk music that is gaining attention from fans across North America. They put their all into every track, and that kind of passion is what makes this band one to watch for. The band’s latest single, “Forsaken” catches your attention with a fierce opening featuring the electric guitar. It has a dark, mysterious tone that really sets the mood for the remainder of the song. The vocals are intense and combative, allowing anyone who listens to feel the passion that is delivered throughout the song. We can only imagine the kind of compelling and fearless atmosphere She Cried Raven would bring to a live show, with their natural ability to bring incredible energy to any crowd. “Forsaken” is a killer first single off the upcoming album and really gets us excited about what’s to come. Get ready, because the remainder of the album is set for release in 2020 and we can't wait to hear it. Listen to "Forsaken" here. Hey, She Cried Raven! Congratulations on the release of “Forsaken”! What a track that definitely got our blood pumping! Where did the creative aspect for the production come about for this particular single? Cheers for that! In all our work we try to think on a cinematic scale. One of my biggest influences is going to the movies so the idea of being able to create virtually your very own horror film has always been a cool thought. Behind Forsaken, in particular, the concept was the feeling of being just isolated and never really being alone in a sense it’s actually quite twisted. Let’s talk about the varying aspects you bring to the sounding of your music. We can hear that the way you curate your music is not as traditional as many artists out there, which is particularly why “Forsaken” stood out to us so prominently. Can you walk us through your steps in the creative process, and how you ensure you stand out from the crowd? I think what makes artists and bands so unique is the team that’s behind it all. So many different characteristics and perspectives go into the making for each aspect when developing a production it truly takes on its own identity at some point. Vocally and lyrically at least personally starting from the beginning then deciding the key factors in the ending, and chiseling it down making my way to the center of it helps me be objective when writing compositionally. We actually have to sit on the material and plan well in advance before anything is set in stone because Adrian (Guitarist), Brendan(Guitarist), and Damian (Drummer) reside on the opposite side of the country from me which can be frustrating at moments though it gives us time to really decide if something aligns with what our goals are as a group. We’ll rehearse non stop even going to the extent of jamming with other artists to get different takes on things or different ideas. It’s a bit ironic at moments because there are times where you think something is a great idea then it doesn’t fit well, then we’ll be jamming with a guest artist and something was done by mistake that was closer to the mark. There always has to be that take away that one moment in the track where it’s like ‘dam I felt that’ and that’s what resonates with our listeners the most. “Forsaken” was a stellar track to open your upcoming album. Was it easy to pick this track to be the opener? What specifically about “Foresaken” is memorable for you as a group? Where we are at as a band currently the track suits our style quite nice I’d say. This track renewed what we’re capable of as a group there was a point in time all of us were wondering is this even going to work out. Being able to get past that adversity keeps it all in perspective we connect with some of the coolest people that are outright supportive and it’s those little moments that we can actually enjoy doing what we do. Your ability to incorporate such integral energy in your music is fascinating. We can already imagine the atmosphere throughout your live performances. Can you describe in 3 words what the energy is like in your crowd? In three words mental, drunk, and sexual. Lol Thanks, She Cried Raven for coming on to BuzzMusic to talk about “Forsaken”! What are the next steps for you collectively as a band? Cheers, it was a pleasure! Get through the holiday haha. Next year we release our album with no dates in mind just yet and couple support runs lined up we can’t necessarily talk way too much about at the moment. instagram.com/shecriedrave facebook.com/SHECRIEDRAVEN twitter.com/shecriedraven #BuzzMusic

  • New Music: Madisvn Showcases New Single "Doin Me"

Talented and up-coming artist Madisvn was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She was discovered singing covers in her dorm room and over the last year has blown up on social media. She has a sizable fan base of over 65,000 Instagram followers and 3,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Listeners have grown to adore her emotional lyrics, vibrant beats, and memorable melodies. Madivsn pulls inspiration from pop and R&B. In January 2019, she debuted her first single “Love Me”. Her soulful voice explores island romances and is the perfect summer jam, transporting listeners to a tropical idyll with steel drums along with a reggae-pop feel. An incredible song to sway and vibe to. Her second single, “Anxiety” explores the singer's vocal range to produce a distinct emotive, raw and personal piece that many listeners can resonate with. Madisvn opens listeners to explore and experience her personal struggle with anxiety. Her song showcases her musical flexibility both lyrically and vocally. October 2019, Madisvn released a powerful single called “Doin Me”. The message begins with portraying a girl who feels like a failure, “wasn’t good enough… feeling stupid...messing up… and living in fear” and slowly builds to the turning point of view. She expresses positive thoughts of having “big dreams, no time for hate or insecurities”. The chorus provides the strongest message of all in saying “I been doing me don’t need a cosign”. As a young female herself, she promotes a strong and empowering view to those you may be in self-doubt. I encourage anyone who is in a stable of struggle to listen to these words and find hope. Listen to "Doin Me" here. Hey Madisvn, welcome to BuzzMusic. You’ve come along way from singing covers in your dorm rooms to writing your own lyrics. Can you tell us about your early days as a musician? I have been singing my whole life, for as long as I can remember. I have always sung constantly. I sang in the car, at home, at school, at the gym, and even on the volleyball court. I created my music account on Instagram when I was about 17. I had a super busy schedule with school, volleyball, and work. If I had an hour of free time, I would record two or three covers and I’d change my outfit and hair for each one, so I could post them on different days. I never would have thought that a few years later, I would be writing and recording my own songs. What struck me the most was the song title and lyrics which I believe expresses female empowerment and independence, something that is important for young women to hear. Is there a message that you're trying to convey to our youth? If you look at my life, you might think “wow, she has everything. Her life must be perfect.” However, I have been through a lot in my 21 years of life. I have always struggled with loving myself, having confidence, and being happy. I’ve struggled a lot with mental illness which inspired me to write “Anxiety”. The message I hope to convey to our youth is that confidence and self-love take time. It is a hard journey that takes commitment and persistence, but you should never give up on yourself. You are valued and wanted and loved. The lyrics of the song “Doin me,” go from feeling like you're not good enough and living in fear, to making your mark and reaching for the stars. What personal experience are you drawing from when expressing these words? A little over a year ago, I went through a pretty rough breakup. The relationship was very toxic and put me in a dark place. The breakup itself only pushed me into an even darker place. I truly lost myself at that time being so wrapped up in having someone and the way I let them control me. “Doin Me” is about focusing on yourself and shutting out the negative energy. This track displays a lot of soul with a reggae-pop feel. Which musicians influence your work the most? I grew up listening to Alicia Keys, so her music will impact pretty much every song I write. A lot of my inspiration also comes from current artists like Ariana Grande, H.E.R., Kehlani, Summer Waller, and Tori Kelly. We appreciate you chatting with us. We know that you love to blend a variety of genres (pop, reggae, and R&B). Can we expect more genre mashups in the future? My future music will mostly be similar to the songs that are currently out with a mixed genre sound. In the future, I hope to eventually learn more towards R&B because that’s the kind of music that really speaks to my heart and soul. instagram.com/madisvnmusic twitter.com/madisvnmusic #BuzzMusic
