  • BuzzMusic Exclusive Spotlight: The Shining Star Maddisun

Today we’re recognizing the shining star all the way from the peaky mountains of British Columbia, Canada, Maddisun. As unique as her name is, this multi-talented and versatile artist is slowly but surely taking over. She has all the incredible ingredients that make an icon, her dreamy, soulful vocals, and expressive lyrics provide comfort and inspiration. Her influences range from classic showstoppers like The Pretenders, Maggie Rogers, and Amy Winehouse. She delightfully mixes her individual indie sound with undertones of soulful blues & folk. Maddisun perfectly bridges the gap between the loftiness of archetypal New Age tracks, and the brashy sterility of contemporary pop, easily connecting with her fans, creating a very special space with her music. Her track record is as impressive as her talent. This driving force in music has a relentless collection of different songs you can select from including the delightful romantic single “Wild Roses”, the beautifully resonating love ballad, “Sorry”, or the uplifting aura of “Differences”. Maddisun has proven to be exceptionally well at showing range in not only vocal dynamics but multiple dimensions to her musicality. Within five months this powerhouse has released three singles and a visual, proving to be a hardworking success in something she’s immaculately interested in. Listen to Maddisun's music here! Hey Maddisun! It's great to chat with you again! What does this mean to you and how has the journey been so far as an artist? Thank you! This is a really cool opportunity, and I appreciate you guys picking me for 2019 Top 10! This basically means that everything I have been doing this year, and how hard I have been working, is paying off. This year has been amazing since I’ve come back from living in Europe I have really thrown myself into the music. I do pretty much everything by myself as a solo artist, and it just enriches my soul when I create good music, and when I nail a live show, it all makes sense you know? Any major lessons you’ve learned throughout your Ups & Downs of your career so far? If so mind sharing any? Definitely that you just gonna keep your head up and keep reaching for your goals and following your path. It’s hard to get recognized and respected fully for being a solo (female) artist, so I’ve learn to just disconnect from that and tell myself and others that I’m exactly where I need to be right now musically and there is always room for growth. It’s easy to judge yourself and make yourself feel like your music isn’t good enough - but if you are creating and connecting then there’s no need to force it. You released so many amazing tracks this year! Which would you say best represents your artistry and why? I think my newest track “Wild Roses” is pretty much exactly what I’ve been wanting to achieve in a song, for a long time. It was so simple when I wrote it and I remember when we started to produce it, it wasn’t even fully written... but it just flowed, and that’s how the song feels too. That’s pretty much how I feel as an artist as well, I try not to force or control things much, and just let it be and let the music come. My track “Sorry” also represents me a lot as an artist, it shows my powerhouse vocals and my ability to fully express myself in my music and just let it all out. I write a lot of very emotional music as well, and both of these releases show my diversity as an artist I think. I’m really proud of them. “Sorry” showcased a significant amount of emotional conviction. What inspired you to write this song? Was it challenging in any aspect? Sorry was definitely a tricky song to create and project. I wrote it as soon as I got back into Canada after a pretty crazy emotional wave, and it was really cathartic, and so I still go to that place and feel that way every time I play it live. Sometimes these emotions and feelings are hard to come to terms with, but it usually means you will be able to fully express it and embrace the vulnerability, and that’s kind of what “Sorry” depicts. I was definitely inspired to write this song after recognizing how I reacted in a certain situation in a previous relationship, you realize how things make you feel when you reflect, and this can be very inspirational and great for writing. When you have so many great songs, how do you plan to continue elevating your next releases from your previous? I am constantly growing and changing as an artist, but also always inspired. After I release a song I am already writing songs that I think are better - or ways I can improve as an artist. Sometimes there are dull moments, for sure, but that’s when you embrace the silence. I am still so young, and I want to continue to learn and immerse myself in the music so I can become a better artist, and more consistent in my releases. 2020 has great things in store for you! What are you looking forward too in the upcoming year? What has been your favorite moment in 2019 so far? Wow, I am so excited for 2020  - not gonna lie I kind of feel like it’s “my year”. I am so settled now in my music career, and I know exactly what I need to do to succeed. I am definitely looking forward to writing and releasing more music - and hopefully, put out the full album I have been working on! I hope to book loads of live shows and continue to connect and network with other artists and industry people my favourite moment this year has definitely been the journey and discovery of my “sound” I think I really know exactly what I want to do musically now, my single “Wild Roses” really helped me realize this, and was such a huge success that I can’t wait for what’s next... instagram.com/maddisonkeiver #BuzzMusic

  • Juliah’s New Track ‘Rule’ and Her Song Writing Journey!

Based in New Jersey and New York, Juliah uses her love of art and sound engineering to create music that touches the hearts of her fans. She graduated from Audio Engineer and Music Production school and uses her education to further her contributions to the music she makes. She's been writing songs since she was 8 years old and her focus has been on creating and sharing music. Juliah uses music as a form of therapy, and her main goal is to project her feelings in her music. Her listeners are then brought along on the emotional and rewarding journey of Juliah’s life, and in turn, gain a deeper appreciation for all forms of art. Juliah’s passion and hard work are displayed in her music, which has attracted the attention of those who have the pleasure of hearing her sing. Juliah’s new release ‘Rule’ is an upbeat love song that makes you feel uplifted and is super easy to dance to! The alternative pop track skillfully uses harmonies and electronic elements to make for a fun, bubbly song that listeners of all genres can appreciate. Listeners are able to resonate and find pieces of their own life within the track, even if this doesn’t involve romantic relationships. Juliah has truly poured her heart out into her music, something that does not go unnoticed. Check out ‘Rule’ by Juliah here We really enjoyed listening to ‘Rule’, what inspired you to write this song? First I wanna thank you, means a lot to me! “Rule” is about persistence. It’s about keeping that flame of passion alive in our souls, cause passion is something we have to nourish, make sure it doesn’t die. It’s about fighting for what we believe and love. I put in on a relationship perspective, but it’s really meant for every area in our lives. Fight for our goals, dreams, for the ones we love and want to keep around, and for ourselves. Believe that we can go through fire and storms to reach the top. It’s about not letting the downs speak louder than the ups, and stand back up after the fall. After all, we got a whole world to rule, and we’re the only rulers of our own dreams. You really have a diverse background in music production! With your own songs, do you typically like to produce them yourself or collaborate with other producers? I usually make very produced and explanatory demos, then I like to send it to a producer that I admire and respect, so it's always more of a collaboration production. I send a rough idea, and they bring it to life. On this track, I had the amazing Tiger Darrow hopping on it. She brought my vision to life, giving it her own signature and taste. She’s an amazing musician and artist, so I didn't expect anything less than this great result she delivered to me. And that’s why I love collaborating because other producers and musicians can add so much to a track, it goes beyond only what’s in my mind, it’s a clash of different universes, joining forces to make art, it’s mesmerizing to me. Do you ever feel challenged artistically to create new music? How would you deal with it? I’m not gonna say it’s easy, but it’s not necessarily a challenge to me. Making music is natural, every day, anywhere, something always inspires me. There are times that I write perhaps 3 full songs in one week, and 2 loose ideas that I can always go back and be inspired by. But I also believe in putting hours and hours on what you want to be the best one, so I’m always writing and composing. For every music, I make I have a full vision, I can see where it takes place at, I can see the colors that represent it well, even the first music video idea comes when I’m writing the song. Some challenges to me are choosing the right songs put it out there, cause, obviously, not all the songs I write are great. For a day or two, they are the greatest, then I listen back to it and think to myself “damn, this is trash” haha And then choosing the right people to reach out to, hoping they’ll like the track as well, and make it real. How do you think your education in audio engineering has shaped the creation of your music? Knowing the technical side of music helped me know how to bring what’s inside my brain to live, which was the reason why I wanted to go for audio engineering and music production. I use every tool I can creatively, it really helps when I know what kind of vibe I want, but not necessarily how I want it to sound, so I use the technical tools to find inspiration as well. I can take a piano sound and shape it until I have a whole new sound that inspires me to start something new or take my vocals and experiment until I have that sound that I knew it was somewhere back in my mind, but I couldn’t reach it, and it clicks. What’s next for you in the near future? Can we expect new music? Definitely a lot of new music will be coming in the next year! “Rule” marks just the beginning of a new era. It’s the most different sounding track on this new chapter, how I like to call it. My first chapter was “The Acoustic Session,” which brought a raw side of me, intimate and imperfect. Chapter 2 introduces to the public my character as an artist, it’s the Girl On The Moon chapter, where my music will be directly connected to every form of art possible. So you can expect very trippy music videos, a lot of visual arts going around because I want my music to be more than just the sound. I want to take people into the world inside my mind, through my melodies, lyrics, vocals, and eyes. I’ve been working with this amazing Brazilian artist, Sarah Biegler (Instagram @doiderairmao), she’s helping me bring my visions to life on her amazing drawings. I have a themed website, in which I chose every single detail. I want people to want to find my visuals because of my music, and vice-versa, because it’s all connected, and it completes each other. I’m excited to present the end of the chapter, but so far it’s a secret that’ll be unrevealed throughout the whole year. What I can say is be attentive to every detail, anything can be a clue, a message, or a little bit of myself. I want people to enjoy this ride with me, it’ll be a fun game! Thanks, BuzzMusic for the opportunity of talking about my art through your blog! I hope I can touch hearts, be heard, inspire and be inspired. instagram.com/itisjuliah #BuzzMusic

  • Jennings Couch Talks New Song and More!

Listen to "Where Did U Come From?" here Welcome to BuzzMusic Jennings Couch! What can you tell us about the way you approach your artistry and sound? Thanks for having me! In the last year I’ve really honed in my sound. I would say I’m always wearing a commercial hat when I write, but I also make sure to add authenticity to my music. This takes the form of more edgy / distorted sounds while keeping the overall song accessible to all listeners. From New York City to rural England and now London! Does your diverse upbringing affect who you are as an artist? How so? I would say my move across the Atlantic definitely influenced my songwriting style and sound. I came to England when I was 9 years old, so quickly picked up the British sound and started incorporating it into my own work. However, I think I still retain some American attributes in my songwriting such as the use of anthemic melodies, big vocal productions etc. Do you believe that the way you intend to communicate your messages through your music is easily received by your listeners? How can you apply this to your new single "Where Did U Come From?” I believe people can get my message quite easily through my songs. I very much enjoy writing about complex topics in a simple way, making it accessible to all listeners. ‘Where Did U Come From?’ does exactly this and makes a complex issue understandable through relatable music and lyrics. The lyrics hit with such an impact in your new track! What inspired the song "Where Did U Come From?” My new single ‘Where Did U Come From?’ dances around the themes of right and wrong, good and evil. More specifically, the battle between our primal instincts of lust and desire, with our societal views of loyalty in a relationship. Thank you for chatting with us! You've released a lot of music this year! Can we expect a longer project in the near future? Thanks for having me! I’m very happy releasing a new single every 2 months or so, however there are plans for a small EP release possibly sometime next year. • Ria Marie Stuns with Impact in New Single “Better”

Hailing from Bristol, Tennessee, Ria Marie has an undeniable passion for creating music. It's embeded into her DNA. Growing up listening to soul and pop music icons like Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, and Jennifer Hudson, it’s no surprise that Ria Marie’s vocals are buttery-smooth. Ria brings a smoky blend of modern R&B with timeless, jazzy undertones to the table to create a soundscape that involves hard-hitting beats anchored by infectious melodies. A completely captivating performer both on and off the stage, Ria Marie has a contagious energy that draws audiences from all walks of life. Ria’s brand new single “Better” is a fiery anthem for anyone who’s ever been in a toxic relationship. The lyrics hit with meaning and impact, encouraging listeners who are in similar situations that it’s okay to move on and it’s okay to want better for yourself. The groove is hypnotic. Its consistency and warmth weaves around you as you listen. The vocals are equally entrancing, but in a whole different way. “Better” has beautiful, powerful and memorable pop/R&B writing, but with a definite edge of refreshing perspective and poetry. We look forward to hearing more from Ria Marie! Listen to “Better” by Ria Marie here Hey Ria Marie! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We love your original sound! How long have you been involved in the music industry? How did you get first started? Hey there, thanks so much! I've been involved in the industry ever since I was a little kid. My mom had a career as a singer-songwriter in the industry for a long time until she decided to become a voice teacher. I'm proud to have her as mine to this day and she's taught me so much about my own voice. Growing up around music, it just gets into your blood: my mom's a voice teacher and my uncle is a film director, so I did my first music video at 6 to a cover of "Reflections" by Christina Aguilera, to give you an idea of what I'm talking about - haha. I've been singing my whole life but it wasn't until a few years ago that I started writing and developing as an artist. Jared and Simon, two amazing producers from the UK, came across my Instagram covers and we started working together online, which has really inspired me to tap into my artistry. You can find out more about my story in my bio here. We love your song “Better”! It seems deeply personal and uplifting. What did you hope to achieve with this release? This song has been such a source of strength for me during a tough period in my life. Lyrically, it's helped me close a chapter and has made me appreciate my circle of supportive friends even more. "Better" has taught me that it's ok to let go, have hope and know that you deserve to never settle in a relationship - or in life! I hope others feel that same empowerment I feel when they hear this. We also checked out your debut release “Honey”! It really highlights your versatility as an artist. Will you be releasing a track that really fuses these two sides of your artistry together? Thank you so much! For me creatively, I don't really see genre when I'm making music, you know, whatever comes out, comes out. I don't really put myself in a box in that sense. It's really fun for me to be able to showcase not only my R&B and soul influences but also my jazz influences and my appreciation for classical music. How would you say your music now compares to the music you curated when you first started out in the music industry? I think it's safe to say that every new artist starting out is just trying to find their own sound and I feel like I'm continuing to develop mine, which is really exciting. We really appreciate you taking the time to chat with us! What can you tell us about the project your working on for 2020? Thank you for having me. I'm really looking forward to next year. In February, I'll be going to London to finally meet and work with the producers I've been collaborating with for the last couple of years. And you'll definitely be hearing new music from me in 2020 and that's all I can say, for now, so please stay tuned. :) instagram.com/riamariemusic facebook.com/riamariemusic twitter.com/riamariemusic #BuzzMusic

  • Oriel And The Sun Re-Cap Their Successes This Year!

OATS is an acronym for ‘Oriel and the Sun’ and their genre is in the chill and ambient category. OATS has an interesting way of recording the music in which they write and produce their songs in an environmentally friendly way, using a self-sufficient sun-powered studio, which is affectionately called, “Hippo”. The band’s unique approach to recording their music highlights their artistic abilities. Their project release “I’ll Wait” was released in March 2018 and reached millions of listeners in only a few months. Now both the chill and ambient version of the singles have over 6 million streams collectively. As an introduction to producer OATS creative work, “I’ll Wait” is a beautiful, uplifting and engaging soundscape that simultaneously captivate listeners.  The track quickly gathers momentum and moves from good to great in a few short minutes – effectively offering the perfect anthem from late-night deep thinkers. Also this year, OATS has released two brand new singles titled “Humanhood” and “Days At The Beach” which have seen nothing but success. Oriel And The Sun are consistently releasing incredible content. It provides a moment of escapism and liss for listeners, and knowing they are climate-conscious is just the cherry on top. Listen to OATS’ new music here and check out our exclusive interview below! Hey OATS, welcome back! For those who aren’t aware, how did you first get into music production and composition, and how would you describe your approach to making original music? Hey BuzzMusic, Henrik here, thank you for having us! As we have 40+ years of music between us I will give you the short version. Erik (who is responsible for the real production magic) got signed to a major label for his production/songwriting skills at the age of 16 and has since then had the pleasure of working as a full-time musician/producer. Henrik (who tends to come up with the riffs and melodies for the OAT productions) has dabbled as a Singer/Songwriter since the teenage years. Somewhere around 1999, both member's paths crossed when they played in the same band, 'Janis Philosophy, 'and a life-long friendship was formed. As we are both sharing the same passion for music (and also equally important 'comedy'), co-writing has always been pure joy and something that has come naturally. We're completely captivated yet again by “I’ll Wait”, you have such a strong and warming presence throughout your tracks. Can you tell us more about your intentions when you first began to curate this single? ‘I’ll wait’ was initially written as an ‘Alternative’ Pop/Rock song where the end of the chorus ended with the words ‘‘I’ll wait’ repeated three times. During production, it became clear that the piano melody and chord structure was a 'given' chill/ambient track for the OATS project and it was put aside. We later dusted it off during an OATS session at 'Lake Vyrnwy' (scenic reservoir in Powys, Wales which is the backdrop of our Spotify profile), slowed down the BPM and applied some ambient elements and the two different versions of the track took shape organically. We also thoroughly enjoyed “Days At The Beach”! Where did you draw inspiration for this particular track and experimental new sound? Not sure if we mentioned it before but during our writing sessions, we travel around the UK in a van equipped with a sun-powered studio (we call her ‘Hippo’ due to number plate consisting of the three letters ‘HPO’). We park up in scenic environments and take inspiration from the area we are in hopes that it will add some magic to the production. ‘Days at The Beach’ was inspired by the beach views of Abersoch (North Wales coast), a place well worth visiting for its pristine unspoiled beauty. The track ‘work name’ later became the track name as felt 'home'. We know that you're a lover of integrating a variety of elements in your music. Would you ever incorporate contrasting genres into your music, or do you think it would ruin the type of sound you're attempting to reach? I am pretty sure that we will release future material with elements from contrasting genres as we both love to experiment with sound. With our Scandinavian heritage in mind, there are some old ‘ethnic’ Viking instruments that springs to mind (Tagelharpa’ and ‘Viking pan-flute’.) that we have not yet incorporated yet but would love to. Thinking about it, Two Swedish dudes roaming the coast of Britain, can’t be more Viking then that, haha. It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you? Any longer projects in the near future? Happy and honored that you are taking an interest in what we are doing so any time! The three first tracks we did under the OATS project originated from piano ideas, the coming next three tracks we are currently working on all originates from guitar riffs, so we are looking forward to seeing how they come out in comparison with the piano ones. The core approach in combination with the environment we are in at the time of composing tends to create something different every time so only time will tell. Exciting times! orielandthesun.com #BuzzMusic

  • Nyukyung Delivers 5 Expressive New Songs with Ep “Moonlight, Vol. 1”

With “Moonlight, Vol. 1”, Tacoma-native Nyukyung brings together five uniquely expressive recordings that each work hard to build a finished journey that’s as meaningful as it is enjoyable. Things start off on a definite high, “My Type” presents a striking electronic ambiance and emotive verses that contrast cleverly with a smooth and melodic hook section. While certain moments feel openly rooted in or inspired by pop, certain others feel much more alternative and freely creative; that balance and freedom work well. “Slow”  follows on and the crisp soundscape fused with these soulful and intimate vocals really begins to grab you. Moving stylishly from melody to rap, Nyukyung creates dynamic and utilizes every second and every aspect of his music as a further means of expressing the underlying sentiments. The track makes for a quickly likable, ambient and awakening listening experience. The unmistakable fusion of heartache and overcoming make an appearance on the project and helps showcase the softer side of Nyukyung’s creative work. This soulful alternative R&B classic is incredibly poignant and empowering in the way it deals with such a remarkably personal subject matter. There’s an energy to moments like this. The track is instrumentally vibrant and works hard to present a sense of overcoming and possibility. “Put In All of Me” ft. J. Cook and Masetti sees a classic R&B groove pour through, with a crisp and satisfying flicker of hip-hop. The heavy marching beat makes for an intimate performance with a superb melody-line. Again, the vocals shine brightly here, multiple layers of voice help strengthen certain moments in an all-immersive way. There’s nostalgia for the sound, but from a songwriting perspective, the journey is perfectly fresh. The changes throughout keep things structurally interesting with the higher melodic moments contrasting with the lower ones. In every case, the performance more than meets the bar. This track’s hook offers perhaps the most notable ear-worm of the entire EP, you’ll walk away with that line running through your mind. “Shouldn’t Take Long” ft. Masetti switches gear again, presenting a quickly optimistic soundscape that fuses a more upbeat melody with some classic hip-hop and a rhythmically complex beat. The creativity that rains down throughout “Moonlight, Vol. 1” is genuinely and incomparable. At the same time, the songwriting is wonderfully original, and on “Shouldn’t Take Long” ft. Masetti, in particular, Nyukyung’s leading voice sounds strong and expressive, effortlessly gritty or smooth depending on what the moment requires. A definite highlight, musically satisfying, unpredictable, deeply personal and honest. Through Nyukyung’s single “Will You”, the roots of the genre stand tall. His voice has character and the bars impress more and more so as the track progresses. The beat is the backbone of authenticity and the weight of the soundscape helps cement the track as more than worthy of its role within R&B/hip-hop. The second time you spin the track, the key riff pours through with immediate familiarity - the calling cards of an effective anthem. It has certain layers and details that capture your interest from afar. On top of this, Nyukyung’s vocals add identity, the lyrics feel fresh. genuine, intense, and real in what they present. The passion and grit in his voice add further weight to the concept throughout “Will You”. The perfect way to finish, musically embracing the listener and underlining one last time the freely meandering nature of Nyukyung’s performance and writing styles in unison. The whole EP features spectacular production and passionate, powerful performances stand tall at every step. Listen to Nyukyung’s EP “Moonlight, Vol. 1” here Hello Nyukyung! We're beyond happy to be featuring you and your EP “Moonlight, Vol. 1” on BuzzMusic! Tell us about the recording process, and how the overall curative process was for this project. Thank you for having me! I recorded Moonlight during the summer of this year and I was going through a lot of relationship issues. The EP was inspired by a girl I met in school and the songs highlight the different emotions I felt during the time. The title moonlight was actually just for a single I'd been working on but ultimately decided to turn it into an entire project just because I had so much I wanted to say. It was a real challenge recording this project as I am not normally very open when it comes to my personal life but I didn't question it and just made what I felt was right. “Slow" is surging with articulate emotions. What kind of feelings did you want listeners to be washed over with when listening to the song? This was the second song I made for the EP and it was intended to be just a message for the girl who inspired the project. I really wanted to get across my feelings in a way that highlighted my personal struggles as well as showing her that I was willing to take time with our relationship. At the end of the day, I feel like this is something a lot of people can relate to as love is an extremely powerful emotion and people fall in and out of it every day. I want the listeners to learn about me through this EP and feel like they know me better after going through the EP. Slow is a special song and one of my personal favorites as I held nothing back. How would you say your music now compares to the music you curated when you first started out in the music industry? When I first started making music I was just making whatever I thought would get me attention. Now I am much more comfortable with myself and make music on the topics that I can relate to. I am not as concerned with pleasing people as I am much more focused on creating good quality music that I can be happy with. You really where your heart on your sleeve throughout this whole EP! What predominant message was integrated within "Shouldn’t Take Long"? The biggest message in "Shouldn't Take Long" is to stay persistent and hopeful in whatever endeavors you are pursuing. Often times people go through the struggle and lose faith but sometimes you have to believe in something even if you can't see it yet. This is a message my coach always gave to me in my years of playing collegiate sports and its how I live my life. Thanks so much for talking with us Nyukyung! What would you say inspires you and your music the most? My music is inspired by my life and the different experiences I get to go through. I will always be transparent in my music and I want the listener to feel like they know me through what I say in my lyrics. instagram.com/nyukyung253 facebook.com/Nyukyung253 twitter.com/nyukyung253 #BuzzMusic

  • #Newmusicfriday: "Another One" by ellie d.

“Another One” welcomes both the melancholic embrace of a hypnotizing backdrop and the heartfelt, passionate connection of a song written with depth and intention. That balance is crucial, and really well executed. You relate to that honesty of the vulnerability within “Another One”, and at the same time, it’s easy to turn up loud and escape within. ellie d. has mastered the art of melodic satisfaction, so the song lingers in your mind long after listening. Despite the lyrical turmoil, the track energizes and brings together everyone who has felt these emotions and been down this pathway. ellie d. has fused a brilliantly uplifting and progressive melody, with a warm and comforting musicality. It's a story that seems personal, but also vague enough for listeners to make it their own connections. The perfect twang of country roots fuses perfectly with a catchy pop backtrack. It’s a pleasure to know there are artists and songwriters creating and performing the music of this nature with such clear passion and a love for the process right now. It’s easy to hear why fans have taken to the rising star so notably in recent months. “Another One” speaks volumes on behalf of the quality and content to come. Listen to “Another One” here Hey ellie d.! Welcome to BuzzMusic! What inspired you to first begin making music and releasing it to the public? Hey BuzzMusic! Thanks for the writeup! I have been a performer for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I used to put on shows for my brothers in our living room. I love covers, but during college, I really began to fall in love with songwriting. I recorded vocals in my closet and stayed up late writing when a new idea came to me. Music has sort of been my way to vent emotionally. When there is something I really want to say, what better way to do it than in the form of a song! When I moved back to LA, I knew it was time to truly hone in on the songwriting. Truthfully, I am very impatient and decided that there was no reason to keep the songs I had written on hold. So I decided to start releasing them! You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into your lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Another One”? I do love lyrics!! I think of songs as short stories, sometimes a stream of consciousness. They are often inspired by real events or based on stories I have heard. "Another One" is about taking ownership of your happiness and no longer waiting around for someone to come running back. I think many times we are in relationships where you know deep down it is not working out, but you still want to hold on to it, even if it is unhealthy. Whether it is being led on or pushed to the side, it can drag you down. This song is about realizing you should not be taken for granted. You will not be the one on hold anymore. Since you’ve been making music for several years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to your newest release “Another One” in terms of your switch to a more pop sound? I think this release is a bit more "sassy" than my others. However, I don't believe you have to stick to any particular sound. When it comes to songwriting, I write based on how I am feeling at the moment, so my sound is always changing and will continue to change. Some days it is a more upbeat pop sound, others it is a more chill pop, mellow sound. What have been some of your proudest or most memorable moments in music so far? I think releasing my very first original was a huge step for me. Releasing your own material can be scary and vulnerable, but it feels good to put it out in the world. I also had such an amazing time filming the music video for this song and I cannot wait for you to see it!! It truly brings the song to life. We really appreciate you chatting with us about your incredible music! What’s next for you artistically? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? Of course! Thanks for having me! I am in the midst of writing/finishing a bunch of new music! I am also excited to start a new chapter with my music as we approach the new year. When it comes to releases, I love being a part of every creative aspect, not just the actual song. I love creating the overall concept for releases that includes promo, artwork, and videos. It allows me to fully embrace the story I am trying to tell. instagram.com/elliedubin facebook.com/ellied.music

  • An Incredible Year for Instrumental Rocker AM Dandy

Alessandro "AM Dandy" Meynardi is an Italian guitarist and composer based in Boston (MA), USA. Born in Mondovì, a small village in North West Italy, AM Dandy has been playing guitar since he was nine years old.  AM Dandy already has an impressive musical repertoire under his belt and is strongly influenced by iconic artists such as Steve Vai, Frank Zappa, Pat Metheny, Guthrie Govan, Santana, and many others. His diverse musical background is a consequence of these influences and raw ambition. This year has been incredible for AM Dandy so far, from releasing his debut 16-track album “Secret Garden” to receiving the prestigious Jimi Hendrix Award and many more accomplishments in between. He truly is a natural-born artist and a future household name. To gain traction for his debut album, AM Dandy also released a music video for his single “Eva’s Song”. The music video is beautifully done and further showcases Am Dandy’s gift as a performing artist. With a productive year behind him, AM Dandy still has plans to release another project titled "ἔραμαι" in December 2019. We’re always looking forward to hearing more from one of our fan favorites, Am Dandy. Look out for his new release this December! Listen to “Secret Garden” here and read more with Am Dandy below! Hey AM Dandy, welcome back! For those who aren’t aware, how did you first get into music production and composition, and how would you describe your approach to making original music? Hello team and readers of Buzz Music! Composition and production are something that strongly fascinated me since the beginning. The idea of being able to physically listen to something coming directly from your head, heart, feeling and experience literally blows my mind, still today! Original music in a way describes an intimate aspect of the author/artist. I like to say that when someone listens to my music, it discovers a little part of me, and on the other hand it is my favorite way to introduce myself to the people. As regards my approach to making original music, the situation becomes really hard to explain since it is something so personal and unique tune by tune, that any description wouldn't fit a hundred percent. In general, even if it sounds like a cliche', I just notate melodies or harmonies that plays in my head in a specific moment. That may also sound like Mozart or whoever else, but the truth, in my opinion, is that listening to a lot of music for years or even for a lifetime, makes that not so uncommon. We're completely captivated yet again by “Secret Garden”, you have such a strong and warming presence throughout your tracks. Can you tell us more about your intentions when you first began to curate this project? Believe me or not some of the tracks on Secret Garden, like Pro Logos and Modern Urban Midnight, were composed when I was fourteen! They obviously evolved during the years, but they are very old. Because the story of Secret Garden started years ago. As you know, self producing an album as a young artist it's tough. Some tunes have been recorded three times in about four years! But fortunately, when I moved in Boston I found at Berklee the perfect people and the right environment to finally do it. My intention was to create something that could talk for me about me, my life, my family, my vices, love and so on. As a debut album, I think this is fundamental. Second point, I wanted to create an album with really outstanding musicians. The incredibles Euan Leslie on drums and Jack Schwenke on bass are still the "muscled" rhythm core of the Group (now with Jason Park and Riccardo Gresino on Keyboards, Piano and Synth); Donghwan Seo and Riccardo Belletti (keyboards) use to be part of it, and some incredible collaborations such as Lorenzo Stif Meynardi (best progressive drummer I know); Pedro Lobato; Kento Tsubosaka, my dad Federico, Alexis Soto, etc. We also thoroughly enjoyed the music video for “Eva’s Song”! Where did you draw inspiration for this particular track and video? Well the inspiration for the birth of the track is, of course, my beloved partner, Eva Sita, and the music narrates some shades of her character and soul. Stylistically, I think this kind of music well describes my playing in terms of language, approach to the instrument and composition. About the video clip, I wanted something pretty clear and that could simply represent the meaning of the tune in the best way possible. Then, of course, the playing scenes, in my opinion, inevitables in an instrumental music video clip, with Jack Schwenke on Bass and Alexis Soto on Hand Percussions. What would you say is the most useful piece of criticism you’ve received thus far within your career? Do you typically take criticism to your advantage? Fortunately the majority of the feedback I am receiving are pretty good, just a few critics about the amount of notes. I usually try to understand and learn from constructive critics, they are gold. But some of those are about "playing fast equal no emotions" and I strongly disagree with that. As long as you are satisfied and happy, anything you play works for yourself, and it's absolutely fine if this is your goal. If you play also to communicate something, as long as you do it with Pathos, joy and honesty, you are good, no matter at all how fast or slow you are playing. I actually believe that many of the most expressive and passionate musicians are also known for their incredible technical abilities, see Steve Vai; Guthrie Govan; Joe Satriani; Malmsteen; Eric Johnson; Gary Moore and so on. Without mentioning other instruments! You mentioned back in August that you are working on another project! What can you tell us about that and "ἔραμαι"? Of course! Actually, I am working on three releases. The earliest one is "ἔραμαι", a love orientated 3 tracks EP that I will release in December 2019. I am recording a crazy Rock and Roll album with a band called Thunderpets, recently founded by me and my brother Stif on drums and lastly, I am working with the AM Dandy Group at the second album, which we are going to release hopefully next summer. I suggest any way to check my socials or my official web site for any possible change of schedule Thank you so much for chatting with us again! Do you prefer the more intimate recording process over live performance? How do you personally feel when you're performing your music live? I really do not make a difference. As long as I am playing with good people and musicians I enjoy both at the same level. Performing my tunes live is the biggest gist and joy that music can give back, so I feel blessed. We just started to build our schedule, since the season is starting, but at the moment I can tell you we will perform on December 17th at the Cafe 939 in Boston; March 7th 2020 at Rockwood Music Hall in New York and July 2020 we have a couple of sets at Umbria Jazz Festival. As I mentioned, keep an eye at amdandy.com. instagram.com/amdandymusic #BuzzMusic

  • Lyndsey Coonrod Delivers Beautiful, Vulnerable New Single “Every Day”

Lyndsey Coonrod is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, TN. She plays a mix of contemporary Christian with hints of country-pop. She strives to create music that is full of depth and experience, but in an accessible and uplifting way. Lyndsey Coonrod’s music captures the walk of life and this journey we’re all on together. “Every Day” is Lyndsey Coonrod’s new single. From the start, the softness of the acoustic guitar picking and the smoothness of Coonrad’s voice draw you in for what is a notably personal and open account of love. The songwriter’s ability to set the scene and to move from the imagery of the verses to the intimacy and central sentiments of the subsequent sections makes for something that manages to captivate on its own strength alone. Nothing fancy or overly flashy is needed to brighten up the energy of “Every Day”, the realness of Lyndsey’s lyrics work with the genuine vibrancy of the performance. It feels very much like a live performance, a moment of truth captured, with nothing to hide behind. You can hear Lyndsey’s connection to the subject matter, and that makes all the difference. We can’t wait to hear more from this up and coming artist! Check out “Every Day” here Hey Lyndsey Coonrod! Great to have you here on BuzzMusic. Any words you'd like to share with our readers about the way you articulate your music? How is “Every Day” different from your previous singles? I think I’ve been really focusing on articulating authenticity and relatability within my music and intentionally making sure there’s a deeper message embedded within each song recently. I think that’s how “Every Day” really stands out from my other releases. It’s probably the rawest of the songs I’ve released so far and really tells a story. There’s a certain depth to it that I’m excited about in comparison to my other singles. I’ve been working towards my sound as an artist and I really think this song is a good step towards securing that sound like my own. “Every Day" obviously had a powerful and captivating soundscape but are you able to dive deeper into the honest meaning of the track? This track was written from the perspective of what could be in finding love and diving into that without hesitation. It’s definitely a wedding song, so it’s not about my life personally, but I tried to envision what that would be like. I kept in mind that neither two people in a relationship are perfect, but they can be just right for each other so in a sense it feels “perfectly imperfect”, which is a re-occurring theme throughout this song. I think society tends to romanticize lots of these concepts and set unrealistic standards when it’s really quite simple. You don’t need that perfect-romantic-comedy love story, because, in reality, love takes time and is a constant growing process rather than at first sight. It’s still just as beautiful but just in different ways than the world sometimes tells us it is. Sometimes, the simplest things can be the most beautiful. In your years of performing, what has been your most memorable moment or achievement in your career? So, I’m in my last year at Belmont University and each year the university hosts 4 showcases, each separated by genre (country, Christian, urban pop and rock). There’s an audition process in which they narrow it down to four artists and each showcase is produced and marketed and treated as if it is a professional music industry event. I got the opportunity to perform as an artist in the Christian showcase in the Curb Event Center this year, which was so much fun. I think that’s the biggest venue I’ve been able to be a part of so far and it was such a rewarding process. It was awesome too because I got to have all of my friends up on stage with me because they were generous enough to be in my band. Everyone was so encouraging and did such a great job of putting it all together and producing it and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. How do you personally feel about live performance? Would you say that you prefer the live performance aspect of music more over the writing/recording process? I honestly love both aspects so it’s hard to choose one over the other. The reason I write and record music is to make an impact on listeners, so performing live is a way to visibly see the impact my music can make, which is really cool. But the writing and recording process is a necessity to get to that point as well and it is always so amazing to work with such incredibly talented musicians within the studio. Seeing my music go from a scratch recording to this enhanced masterpiece in production is an incredible experience, so both are equally valuable and rewarding to me. Being able to share what’s on my heart and see how others respond to it is such a cool process overall. It was amazing showcasing "Every Day" to our listeners and getting to know you as an artist in the process! What are you currently working on? Yes, thank you so much! I’m actually working on a lot of exciting things right now. I have around four new songs already recorded that I’m planning on releasing as an EP in the coming year, with potentially a couple more. I also have a music video in the works for one of those songs that I’m really excited about. I was blessed to work with incredible teams on both of those projects and I’m so excited to see how it all turns out. I think this new upcoming material is an even more accurate representation of me as an artist and contains deeper messages that I’m super excited to share with everyone! instagram.com/lyndsey_coonrod facebook.com/lyndseycoonrodmusic twitter.com/CoonrodLyndsey #BuzzMusic
