  • Up And Coming Songstress Ramsey Haynes Makes Debut With “Love Is A Game”

Ramsey Haynes is a 13-year-old singer/songwriter and musician. She has been captivating audiences ever since making her public debut as the opening act during the 2015 Runway Moms for a Cause, fashion fundraising event. Ramsey is also an instrumentalist, she plays the keyboard and guitar. Ukulele, electric guitar and drums are next on her list! When Ramsey is not performing or perfecting her craft, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, baking delicious treats and serving her community. Ramsey released her first single, “Love is a Game”, July 2019. “Love is a Game” begins with a flawless begin intro and Ramsey Haynes’ well-known vocals. Her voice moves through the music with emotional and meaning. Her emotional maturity is showcased through the expert songwriting and experience throughout “Love is a Game”. The simplicity of the music features only a piano and a light beat during the hook. Ramsey uplifts and inspires with her words of motivation. The meaning behind this track can relate well with any listener. Everyone has their individual experience with love and that’s what makes “Love is a Game” so accessible for many listeners. This song is worth a listen! A pleasure to review and we look forward to hearing more from Ramsey Haynes! Check out “Love is a Game” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! What inspired this song? Love Is a Game is all about the experience, it’s about the not so good side of love. I was in a deep place when I wrote this song, I usually need to be in a deep place to write my music.  Love Is a Game is based on my thoughts on love and how it really does things to people when things fall apart. The heartbreak, the stress, and how it changes you as a person.  There are many pros and cons to love and I’m clearly focused on the cons.  But my next song will be all about the good side, don’t worry. How long have you been playing the piano? You’re very talented! Thank you!  I have been playing piano for about three years. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play piano so, when I was 10 years old, my parents gave me my first keyboard. I taught myself how to play. The first song I taught myself was Diamonds by Rihanna!  Now, I attend formal classes under the royal conservatory program, and I love it! I’m improving every day! I have also been upgraded to a digital piano! ;) We’re captivated by your voice! How have you managed to perfect your vocals over time? I have always been singing, so some would say it is a natural gift. But even a natural gift requires practice and there is always room for improvement.  So, I must be honest, it takes a lot of commitment and practice! I practice almost every day.  At first, I was afraid to push myself, but I have had some great vocal coaches and an amazing choir director. (I am also a member of two choirs) Working with them helped me come out of my comfort zone and it became a fun and rewarding challenge to push myself to hit different notes and octaves.  With practice, my voice started to grow over time. It’s also very important to take care of your voice, so I give my voice a lot of love and care.  The voice is an amazing instrument with consistency it becomes very flexible. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? The best setting to listen to my song(s) is probably in your room with the lights out!! LOL! It’s a pretty deep song, it gets you in your feelings, it’s relatable to anyone who’s had a heartbreak. Add Love Is a Game to your “in my feelings” playlist. But don’t get stuck in your feelings, I’m going to come out with a much happier love song!  I promise! What are your main aspirations as an artist going forward? I absolutely want to make singing my profession. I will continue writing and singing these love songs!   I am also looking forward to diving deeper into production and engineering. I would love to collaborate with different artists and produce or write for them. The ultimate would be launching my own record label. For now, I will continue to work hard and perfect my art so I can always be ready for whatever comes next! Connect with Ramsey Haynes on social media: Instagram Twitter Facebook #BuzzMusic

  • Bronwyn Silk Sweeps Us Off Our Feet With The Melody Of "Nobody Likes You"

Bronwyn Silk is the pop artist that will make you fall in love with pop (even if you never thought it was possible). Straight out of Los Angeles, CA, Bronwyn has been writing her music from a very young age, as the best musicians do. Her debut single has only released this year, and she's already had one of her tracks reach over 1,000,000 streams. As impressed as we are with Bronwyn's accomplishments thus far as an artist, we're even more impressed with her actual sound, as upon hearing her music, we know she's an authentic pop artist, not just some artist conforming to pop stylings. Soft guitar riffs are what immediately introduces you to Bronwyn Silk's latest single "Nobody Likes You". Her genuine and honest voice is what follows next. Perfectly capturing the essence of a full-bodied pop song, Bronwyn Silk adds her dynamic vocalism into the mix in order to create an elemental track. Let's seriously talk about Bronwyn's vocal range for a second. Her voice is able to hit octaves we're seriously impressed by, and she gives us a hint of this within "Nobody Likes You". Although Bronwyn's vocal production within this particular track comes off as more delicate, we're treated to areas in the track where she shares her robust and powerful delivery. Bronwyn Silk is the sound you can expect to hear on your local radio pop station, but once you hear "Nobody Likes You", you'll know that she adds more to her song than the typical pop track. Her voice is compelling (we know, we've been obsessing over her voice for the entirety of this article, but it's incredibly angelic and it's all we can focus on)! Besides the stellar vocalism on Bronwyn's part, her more contemporary production stylings combined with the hazy, yet pure atmosphere, makes for the pop track we not only love but a track we've downloaded too many of our playlists. Bronwyn Silk is the type of artist that has transformed some of our music tastes, and the non-pop lovers within BuzzMusic have definitely become pop fans after today! Experience the essence of "Nobody Likes You" here, and catch up with Bronwyn Silk in her interview below! Hey Bronwyn Silk! Crazy to be featuring your music here on BuzzMusic! Your journey in the music world thus far must be a whirlwind considering you just debuted this year! Tell us about your experience within the music scene so far for 2019?! My love for singing and writing has been apparent since making singing videos and writing beginning at the age of seven, yet it only really hit me in the face kind of late in my life. My first year, I experienced a lot of resistance within myself. I received what seemed to be "a nudge from the universe" because the opportunity to record one of my own songs came about and I was very convinced I didn't have the talent. But I fell in love with the process and after debuting on Hate Your Rules I finally began to recognize my potential, and the external validation I felt I once needed to stand I didn't need anymore. So, I think the purpose of this year, for me, has been to find the strength to stand on my own two feet, and now that I have the skies the limit. Are you able to share with our readers the integral message embedded within "Nobody Likes You" (regardless of the give-away title)? It’s honestly a diss track to myself, or like an, “Oh my god, why do I always do this?”. I do my best to practice self-love and positivity, but underneath all that I seem to have a pretty critical script running in my brain – as I’m sure many do. Whether we acknowledge it or not, the thoughts that run through our heads when we’re unaware are the catalyst of self-fulfilling prophecy and self-sabotage. Sometimes I become aware of my bad habits, and sometime they just sneak past me, and I’m just like “S*** I did it again *facepalm*”. How was it collaborating with CRWN? Would you be open to more collabs in the future, and specifically with who next?! It was great! We had a long week working on some other songs together, and we decided to  have some fun writing “Hate Your Rules” in a very light-hearted session. I’m definitely open to collaborations! There is no one specifically, but my dream collab is with Post Malone. Hehe. How do you believe you remain authentic to your sound, especially now that your music is blowing up? For awhile I was over-thinking what my “sound is”. Then I came to realize that if I like it, then it’s my sound. And as long as I’m singing with my words and my voice I’m remaining authentic to who I am. Thanks so much for allowing our readers to get a better sense of who you are as an artist! What do you hope to accomplish next within the music world? I’m just ready to crank out some great music; to work with some amazing people; to start dancing my ass off at some shows and just to start taking life day by day. • Exclusive Interview: Rosy Nolan Talks New EP & More

Thank you for this interview opportunity Rosy,  we love your music!  Please share with us how you developed your unique banjo sounds and when did you become a full time musician? Thank you! So glad to be here. I don’t know how much I developed my banjo sound as much as it developed me.  I went through a period after I left New York where I was feeling really discouraged by the music business and turned off by the my own songwriting so I just kinda stopped playing.  But then I started getting squirrelly and doing weird stuff like reading computer manuals and listening to talk radio. So I decided I needed a new relationship to music.  One that wasn’t about me making it or getting discovered.  One that was about me tapping into why I do music at all.  I was thinking about what kind of instrument I could study just for the sheer joy of learning without a motive or an end result in sight. I had a fantastic banjo player in my band back in New York, Hillary Hawke, and I always thought it was such a feel-good instrument.  I just started playing around with the instrument getting lost in the trance of traditional melodies and rhythms.  I fell in love with the old time sound you hear in Gillian Welch’s music and thought this instrument could be used to carry my own songs.  I have tried to weave traditional sounding melody in my own music ever since whether I’m playing banjo, guitar or autoharp.  I’m really a most-of-the-time musician at the moment but, you know, I’m working on it.  It’s always a careful balance. How do you balance the life of a musician with a regular life as an emerging artist? Lots of coffee, sleep and therapy. HA!  I think it’s vitally important to be surrounded by good people who are doing what they love. Then you get to feed off each other, support each other, root for each other. It makes the transition between musical life and regular life so much more manageable. If I can take the focus off myself and it keep it on the music and community then I’m golden. If you had to describe your sound with only one song of yours, which one would you choose? “Return to Spawn.”  It’s stripped down with nods to traditional songwriting, moody, haunting and raw. Favorites from your current album? Right now I would say, “Heaven’s Name.”  I finished the song about a week before we went to into the studio.  It's about a breakup that happened just a couple weeks before that.  I love the way Kenny Feinstein plays that fiddle line.  It squeezes and turns my heart just the way heartbreak does. If you had the opportunity to meet one band or artist who would you choose and why? I would have loved to meet The Carter Family.  Mother Maybelle, especially.  She was a fierce guitar player.  They did so much to shape country music as we know it.  I play a few of their songs in Old Time Machine like "Lonesome Homesick Blues,” “Bury Me Beneath the Willow,” and “Wildwood Flower."   I would have loved to sit in with them, play banjo, and sing harmonies. How do you feel the independent music scene is evolving and do you like where it's headed? A lot of people are now incredibly self-sufficient these days in terms of recording and distributing their own music.  There is a lot of great music that is more accessible to the masses now through social media.  It’s a great equalizer in a way.  Artists are able to stay true to themselves and find their audiences without dependence on a label or management directing them toward a certain sound and look.  This all seems really good to me. We all have "aha" moments that help us continue on our journey.  What have been your "aha" moments in the music industry? I’m not sure this is an “aha" moment or more of a hard lesson but learning to trust my instincts has definitely been the most important realization of my career.  Every time I have ignored them in the past I have suffered tenfold. Maybe I don't get what I want in the short term but I certainly rest a lot easier in the long run. What does 2020 have in store for you? I’m planning on doing a northwest tour for “Footprints & Broken Branches” winter/spring 2020. I’d also like to get back into the studio.  I have some new songs I’d love to put down. • Will Buck Is Back With His Brand New EP “Stone Feather”

Born and raised in Hydes, MD, talented artist Will Buck spent his early years working on his family’s farm and growing an immense obsession with the guitar. Marveling at his parent's records, Will remembers songwriting attempts as early as age 10. By his early 20s, he was on the road over 100 days a year throughout the US with West Water Outlaws until the band suddenly split in 2015. After a year-long solo journey with only a few suitcases, a guitar and his truck he decided to move to LA with a notebook of new songs and an undying determination for another shot. Will announced himself as a solo artist in 2018 and released his debut single “Fuse” in May 2019. With the release of his debut EP “Stone Feather,” there are a number of reasons to keep an eye on Will as he continues down the artist's path. “Stone Feather” comes in hot from the offset with an introductory track titled “Burn”. The song offers an underlying sentiment that seems fairly inspiring and of depth, inviting the listener to consider these ideas, and to feel the embrace of the music as its weight and intensity fills the room. The resulting effect is hopefully that you feel as if there’s a certain power or possibility within you with the intention and purpose of Buck’s lyrics. “State of Mind” follows the opener and immediately changes things up. The lyrics stand tall, this catchy melody and the references feel extremely vulnerable and appealing for their desire to connect with their listeners. The lightness of the music captures your affection and Will Buck’s voice is contagious and very genuine to listen to. With the next and title track “Stone Feather” there’s an apparent sadness but it’s intertwined with optimism and a hopeful search for the future. The song takes you on a journey with it, loaded with imagery and self-reflection, you feel enjoyably involved in the experience as a listener. “Stone Feather” is an absolute highlight and a definite personal favorite. A simple yet addictive melody is accompanied by intriguing, questioning lyrics, and the minimalist strum of a guitar. To finish off an incredible project, “Regular Man” is another highlight! Gorgeously gritty vocals entrance the listener, while deeply considerate and honest lyrics drive a concept through. You get so much clarity from this project as if these are the songs that had to be sung, the thoughts that had to be shared. “Stone Feather” features incredibly expressive lyrics and delicious melodies, plus a musical build-up that intensifies superbly. Will’s vocal tone and the style of these songs offer a distinct thread throughout, mood-wise though there’s plenty of eclecticism at work, and for these reasons, this EP makes for a wonderful playlist to escape within. The musicianship on this project is consistently flawless, well done Will Buck! Check out “Stone Feather” here and read more with Will Buck below! Hey, Will Buck welcome back! Congratulations on the new EP! What is the concept behind “Stone Feather” and what does this release represent for you? Hey thanks, I appreciate the continued support! Stone Feather is about embracing both the light and the dark within yourself. It’s knowing that you can fly even if you feel heavy sometimes or reminding yourself to be humble and gracious when things are going your way. Letting go of control, but taking the reigns of your life. Looking up from rock bottom and smiling at the sun. Paying homage to those who came before you, accepting failure, forgiving yourself and ultimately giving yourself permission to try again. If someone only has time to check out one song from your collection, which would you recommend and why? I would say listen to “Regular Man.” While this is currently my longest and perhaps least commercialized song, I think it would give you the closest look at me and my redemption arc as an artist. It follows an inner monologue through a depressive time in my life, looking back on previous highs enviously and perpetuating an overwhelming amount of negative self talk until I reach a breaking point. Right around the bridge of the song I’m faced with a choice - let my ego die, stop complaining and start over again or go out an unhappy unfulfilled so-called musician who almost ‘made it.’ Thankfully I chose the first option when the consequences of not doing what I really wanted to do finally became perceivably greater than doing it. I had run out of excuses and frankly had nothing to lose at that point besides a few suitcases, a truck and my guitars. So by the third chorus I admit to myself that I’m flat on my face right now, so what’s the harm in trying again? At least I’ll go down swinging a free man. And then I proceed out with a raw uncut guitar solo and impromptu Jimi Hendrix “Machine Gun” style ending that my drummer Andrew Oakley came up with in the middle of a live studio take. “Stone Feather” has a strong lyrical depth to it! Do you always write in this manner? Do you ever worry about divulging too much through your songwriting? Or do you think it’s better to be vulnerable? Awww chucks, thanks! Yes, I always ‘attempt’ to write in this manner and yes of course I’m worried about divulging too much in my songwriting but I have a saying about that. As soon as I want to stop my pen from writing the next word - that’s when I know I’m onto something good. If it touches my soul and makes my heart pump than my only hope would be for it to do the same for others. So yes, I think it is not only better to be vulnerable - I think it is imperative. How do you remain on track to continue writing new content so consistently? I heard recently that motivation is fleeting but drive is continuous. I do lots of things to keep myself motivated because that’s what makes the car run smoothly but my car is driving weather I like it or not. My brain never stops writing or scheming. I’m obsessed. My mom used to look right in my eyes knowing I was somewhere off in the clouds and say, “Will, you have another bee in your bonnet don’t you?” Which is just an old fashioned way of saying I had an idea buzzing around my head and I’d stop at nothing until I brought it to fruition. So I guess songs are like bees to me - they hum around in the air around me until I either swat them away or calm myself enough to let them land on me and embrace them. Either way, I generally get stung, morn their death and then marvel at the idea that their entire life led up to that last moment with me. I’ll admit sometimes I’ve felt cursed like, “why can’t I just turn this dang thing off and go mow the grass or something.” But ultimately I’m extremely grateful for this internal drive and most of all I’m glad I found an outlet for it! Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? Maybe a road trip, that’s far too long but you’re determined to finish? Perhaps you’re driving to the coast or the mountains and are running out of steam. Maybe you’re driving through the night and need something to keep you going in the wee hours? Or you’re driving one of those 70mph roads in the desert that’s so empty, straight and narrow you almost don’t feel like you’re moving at all. You could be running from something and not even know it yet or you could be having the time of your life on a new beginning. All I hope people take away, is a sense of self and humility. We are all flawed - that’s what makes us beautifully connected. The pain of being human is existing in both the light and the darkness at the same time I think. You could listen to this EP in any setting really - I’m just grateful people will be listening to it anywhere!! • Youngb Released Relatable & High Energy Track "No Lies"!

Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Youngb is a rising hip hop/rap artist, bringing some serious energy to his beats. On his way to making almost 1,000,000 streams with his music, Youngb has already begun making serious waves within the Hip/Hop scene, and we're here for his ultimate success! Youngb has integrated himself within the music world only three years ago with his first release, and already is putting out more quality music that listeners can relate to on a deeper level. Our attention was ultimately held by Youngb's music once we felt the surging energy within his production. Every track he puts out has that undeniable catchiness to it, which makes us want to have the track on replay! Youngb's latest track, "No Lie", further contains that hyped-up vibe that can't be beat! "No Lie" is extremely catchy, and even saying that is an understatement! Youngb is incomparable to other sounds we've heard--he brings that familiar rap production, but the vocal delivery is filled with various elements, we're taken aback by such a delivery! "No Lie" is a song where Youngb is reminiscing about past love and pours his emotions into the track (emotions we can all, at some point, relate to completely). Youngb curates that all-loving rap track we're comfortable with, the type of relationship track we're used to hearing, but then elevates it with the projected mood and ambiance. Youngb ensures that his music still captures an essence of allurement, combined with an easy flow. Our ears will be peeled for what's next up with Youngb's music! Listen to "No Lie" here, and check out Youngb's interview below! Hey Youngb! How has the music world been treating you thus far, since you debuted around three years ago?! The music has been treating me amazing. It has changed my life ever since I first released "Reminiscing". It's made people treat me different and I've had people tell me my music has inspired them in so many ways and that is a great feeling when you pour everything you have into this music. "No Lie" was catchy, it was relatable, and it was seriously hyped up. What kind of energy did you want to pour into your listeners with this particular track? I wanted something people could hear and relate too but also have a good vibe to it. When you've been in a relationship that has been nothing but lies, cheating, etc. and nothing changes you eventually get fed up about it and leave. This is the song you'd listen to as you're leaving. How long did the entire songwriting/recording process take for "No Lie"? What're you more comfortable with, the writing process, or the recording process? The songwriting part for No Lie came easy but I take my time with the process because I enjoy it so much. The recording process took longer because my engineer Willy Franko is one of the best engineers in Charlotte, North Carolina (If not the BEST) and he wants the song to be as perfect as I want it to be. I'm honestly comfortable with both the writing and recording process, I love them both but if I had to choose I would say the recording process just because you get to let out all of your emotions. What kind of steps do you take to make sure you're being as honest as you can within your music, and ultimately to your listeners? To me, there aren't any steps to being honest in music. I write everything I make so, therefore, I just speak my mind, heart, & soul. For me, my music is just therapy and for releasing emotion. To my listeners I want it to be an inspiration, something they can connect to and not feel alone in certain situations in life. It was amazing being able to showcase "No Lie" here to our BuzzMusic readers! Any parting words for the BuzzMusic community? Any new tracks in the making? I truly appreciate you guys giving artists the opportunity to be able to have the BuzzMusic platform to use. I have a new music video dropping very soon that is to an unreleased song. • Modern Water Is Everything You Miss About Music

I don't know about you, but we sure miss a lot about the music we grew up with. Maybe it's really just the growing up part. The freedom of our youth and not having too much of a care in the world. Not exactly sure. But for the duration of different times in our lives, we have a soundtrack that follows suit. The songs we listened to and obsessed over back then. It's been some time since we heard anything that gave that feeling back. Until Modern Water. A guitar-driven alternative pop / Indie rock record, First Light In the Uncanny Valley is a pure and fun way to delve into something new and familiar at the same time. Wildly catchy guitars, choruses, and melodies are strung together throughout this record and you never quite feel like you've had enough. That's a beautiful thing. With several singles within the album, our favorite is easy "Seven or Eight". The song touches on an older Modest Mouse style of songwriting and gets your head bobbing along with its pop-driven quirkiness. Modern Water is its own brand of pop music! The album is out now on all platforms. Spotify tunes/apple Bandcamp Youtube Facebook Instagram

  • NEW MUSIC VIDEO ALERT: Troy Castellano Releases Brand New Video For "Quitter"

Troy Castellano is a country/soul artist that prefers to be a category bender. We anticipate for artists like Troy to pop up in the soft country/soul genre, and we know there's the perfect spot for Troy's music. His blend of expressive vocal dynamics, with honest and raw lyricism, will give listeners a full open look at who Troy Castellano is. We don't get to see this a lot with every artist, and we're taking a full moment to appreciate Troy's ability to effortlessly share his story with his listeners, us, and the BuzzMusic community! Musically, Troy Castellano can be known for sharing personal and private experiences with his listeners, allowing for that deep connection. Troy gives listeners a sense of trust and assertiveness throughout his music. "Quitter" will make you feel uplifted, purely by the vocal execution on Troy's end. He can communicate passion and a raw approach to expressing his emotions to listeners. With an undeniably intriguing tone, Troy Castellano presents himself as honest, amicable, and ultimately vivacious. Besides these aspects, his music expresses a pure version of country/soul music. The music video for "Quitter" perfectly captures an intimate experience with the music of Troy. The use of piano for the underlying melody of the song made for a more softer production. "Quitter" shares a personal experience from Troy's life, and his willingness to open up in such an exposing way to his listeners showcases his inert artistry. We can definitively say we're impressed with the production of "Quitter", and the music video adds that profound experience for listeners to encounter. Listen to "Quitter" here, check out the music video below, as well as our interview with Troy! Hi Troy! Welcome to the BuzzMusic platform! Congratulations on both the release of "Quitter" along with its music video! Can you tell our readers how the overall production of the music video went? Looking back, is there anything you wish you could've done differently? This video was done pretty much on a whim, the photographer, Daniel Jones had bought a new camera and offered to do a video for me. I took the ball and ran with it. Since this song is a piano and vocal only I thought it would be cool to find a house with a grand piano and do a performance video of the song. Thanks to some great friends we secured a beautiful home in Brentwood Tennessee to shoot. The shoot went very easy and quickly. The idea was to have the artist (me) come in through the door sharply dress talking on the phone to someone who asked "how are you doing" and I respond with "things are going great now" now that I have quit some things!   Then the artist sits down at the piano and plays out the song. This was my first attempt at self-producing a music video. I think we did it pretty well, the music is what really matters but if I were to do anything differently it would be to have gotten some wider shots of the room and piano. Other than that I am very proud of the video we made! Was the music video of "Quitter" meant to be an opportunity for listeners to experience your music intimately? Do you believe that connecting with your listeners comes naturally to you as an artist? I wrote this song back in 2016 with Brett Mandel. I wanted to put this song out as a video for people to experience it sonically and visually and let the listener take this powerful message in. I'm not sure if I connect naturally but I do try to live the song I am singing! Describe the perfect setting to listen to your recent track "Quitter". Dim down the lights, turn up the music, pour up a glass of your favorite beverage and just listen to the message in this song! What are some steps you take to ensure the complete genuineness of your music? I really try to get into the song in a way where people will believe what I am saying. This isn't that difficult since I wrote the songs and they usually are true-life experiences! What kind of goals have you made for yourself artistically? Where do you believe you and your music will be in the next year? I am mostly a songwriter in Nashville but definitely an artist as well. Looking forward I am going to push more towards the artist direction and start releasing singles and more videos on a regular basis. I have a brand new single called "Zero Latitude" coming out on all digital platforms on October 18, 2019. I also am very active on my YouTube channel youtube.com/troycastellano! I produce a songwriter show called Project 52 Nashville where I bring in co-writers and artists that I have wrote songs with, interview them and do a live performance of a song we wrote! One thing for sure, I'm not quitting making music, ever! • Sit Back And Relax With New Single By Cas Cleo!

We were incredibly excited when we came across the sound of Cas Cleo. As a predominantly soft/folk artist, Cas Cleo can take the very essence of that country/folk sound and strip it down to its core. Rebuilding it up in a more delicate way, Cas Cleo impresses us with her artistic abilities, especially regarding her curation of the genuine and honest sound her music embodies effortlessly. "Lost It All" is the latest track from Cas Cleo, and we know this one will have our BuzzMusic readers feeling rejuvenated and at peace. You immediately feel a sense of tranquility with "Lost It All". The melody that you're introduced with completely relaxed us, and we felt at peace while humming along to the underlying melody. Cas Cleo's vocal delivery was spot on within the track, and her voice embedded admirably with the curated tempo. It is without a doubt that Cas Cleo knows how to tell a story through her music-- her surge of emotion throughout the song is a dead give-away. We appreciate the artists who can provide a moment for listeners to be able to unwind and tranquilize. Cas Cleo does exactly such with the silkiness of her voice, which we're completely drawn to at this point. "Lost It All" will have you feel a hint of melancholy, as an effect of the underlying story, however, the melody will have you feeling like you're drifting on a soft-folk music cloud. We can pretty much expect the indie/folk BuzzMusic listeners to melt with Cas Cleo, and her amicable presence is undoubtedly warming. Entrance yourself with Cas Cleo's "Lost It All" here, and keep scrolling for her interview with BuzzMusic! Hey there Casey! We're so happy for you with your recent release of "Lost It All"! How did you feel immediately upon releasing the song to your listeners? Thank you! On release day I was excited but a little nervous. Lost It All was my second release ever and the song that people seem to connect to most live. I was just hoping that the recording would capture the same emotion as the live version. When it came out everyone seemed to have such a positive reaction to the song, even more so than my previous single. I think this was because everyone can relate to heartbreak in one way or another and because the song also references the detailed memories you hold onto from a past relationship. Can you describe the evolution of your music, from your earlier releases, to now? Do you feel like you're progressing in the way you've wanted to as an artist? Before Lost It All, I had only released one other single 2 months earlier. However, all 5 singles that I’ll be releasing in the next year were written at least two years ago. In early 2017 I had recorded an entire EP with most of the same songs. When I listened back to this EP I decided not to release it, despite the months of work put into it, because production-wise it did not fit my vision for the songs. Near the end of 2017 I had asked my friend Andrew Lambie to play guitar on one of my songs, and he threw himself into my music and took it upon himself to produce all five of the upcoming songs without me even asking. I’m beyond happy with what we did. I do feel like I am progressing, I feel like during the recording process of these 5 songs I developed a much better understanding of production and what I want. Recently, I’ve been writing and definitely have a better understanding of the direction I want to go in for these new songs. What sparked your decision to move from Virginia to Nashville? Do you feel that moving to Nashville has changed the way your music was executed? I actually moved to Nashville for college after being very unhappy with my previous college in Virginia. I’ve always known that I wanted to pursue music but could never figure out a way how. I decided to take a risk and move to Nashville since it’s “Music City”. Belmont University, where I attended college, is mainly a music school and I studied Entertainment Industry Studies and Music Business, in order to get a better understanding of how the business side of music works. Honestly, I think that if I had stayed in Virginia I would not have any music released. There are so many great musicians in Nashville that have taught me so much and I don’t think that any of these songs would have even been written if I hadn’t moved here. How do you feel when you're performing? Can you describe the essence of your shows? I like performing, but I would say writing is my favorite part of being an artist. My shows are not high energy really, since my genre is more folk/singer-songwriter. My shows aren’t about people jumping around or getting pumped up, they’re about people listening to the lyrics and melody and understanding how they make each individual person feel, and how that person can relate to them. I guess if I had to describe it, my shows are calming and should make a person feel introspective. • Refreshing Indie Pop With Chad Johnson

The Over Cast EP release from songwriter Chad Johnson is a diverse array of well-produced "bedroom" pop that goes to show how being seasoned in-home recording can push out some high-quality pop tunes. My how times have changed, and how songwriters have changed right along with it. With the freedom to create new sounds in today's musical universe, it's a good thing some artists take their time experimenting and producing. Chad Johnson wrote and recorded the entire Over Cast release on his own. As this is not some new groundbreaking thing, it's still quite impressive. Crossing synth-wave with dream pop, and giving the record just the right amount of atmosphere, Johnson has managed to pull off an outstanding effort. "Real" is a touching track that combines that indie-pop synth feel with layered guitar work and a chorus that just feels good to listen to. We suggest you do the same. • Madame Psychosis Is Back With Their Sophmore Album “Survivor”

Madame Psychosis is a five-piece female-fronted alt-pop & indie rock band from Toronto. Members include singer Michelle Mondesir, guitar players Bret McCaffrey and Rene Ip, drummer Jaina Tharakan, and bass player Giovanni Paola. Madame Psychosis’ new album “Survivor” is out now! Starting strong with “Just Wanna Be Myself”, this intro track is brilliantly creative, this is something you notice from the offset. It brings in unpredictable guitar and drum-work that quickly gets you feeling like you’re in the center of a live jam. The whole thing is expressive and freely meandering, yet there’s a clear method to the set-up. “Just Wanna Be Myself” is the perfect introduction to an album that grows more and more impressive as it moves along. “Not Supposed To Be Here”, follows the opener and immediately changes things up. The lyrics stand tall, this delicate melody and the references feel extremely vulnerable and appealing for their desire to connect with their listeners. The lightness of the music captures your affection thanks to its stark contrast with the weight of what came before. Michelle Mondesir’s voice is beautiful and very genuine to listen to. Previously featured on BuzzMusic is the contagious cat and mouse like groove “Kapow”, a definite stand out single and an excellent indicator of Madame Psychosis’ dominance and musical ability. With the next track “Rad Racer” there’s an apparent sadness but it’s intertwined with optimism and a hopeful search for the future. The song takes you on a journey with it, loaded with imagery and self-reflection, you feel enjoyably involved in the experience as a listener. “Crashing Down” is an absolute highlight and a definite personal favorite. A simple yet addictive melody is accompanied by intriguing, questioning lyrics, and the minimalist strum of a guitar. Things begin on a strong foot and grow to be all the more immersive and musically wonderful as the song pours through. “White Roses” is a stunning pop-rock track with a beautiful sense of depth and a brilliant hook. “Don’t Care” is another highlight! Gorgeously deep and raspy vocals quietly calm and entrance the listener, while deeply considerate and heartbreakingly honest lyrics drive a concept through. “Free” afterward leads with a falling then rising array of lightly strummed chords, space and emotion again stand tall in this setting. You get so much clarity from this project as if these are the songs that had to be sung, the thoughts that had to be shared. “Survivor” is a classic playlist and not a moment has been wasted or included purely to fill a space. “Give It To Me” undoubtedly stands out for its cinematics and the gritty nature of that driving bass. A simple yet captivating, poetic song works hypnotically to envelop the listener. The title track comes afterward and completely redirects you yet again. “Survivor” features incredibly expressive lyrics and a delicious melody, plus a musical build-up that intensifies superbly. To finish off an incredible project, “It’s So Easy” offers a further hit of nostalgic, nineties alternative rock, right before the upbeat rock bounce brings the album to a finish. That vocal tone and the style of these songs offer a distinct thread throughout, mood-wise though there’s plenty of eclecticism at work, and for these reasons, the album makes for a wonderful playlist to escape within. The musicianship on this project is consistently flawless, whether the moment is high energy or more of a subtle, intentional gathering of layers, Madame Psychosis know precisely how to bring about the right pace while still managing to impress. Check out “Survivor” here and keep scrolling for more with Madame Psychosis! Hey, Madame Psychosis welcome back! Congratulations on the new album! What is the concept behind “Survivor” and what does this release represent for you? Hello again Buzz Music! Thanks for having us back. We are very excited about the new album! Conceptually, the 11 tracks on “Survivor” reflect our inherent ability and need to survive the obstacles that life throws at all of us. The album speaks to the human condition, whether it is life’s highs or its lows. Musically and thematically, “Survivor” captures this ebb and flow, moving between fun, upbeat tracks and darker, more reflective pieces. Collectively, “Survivor” represents growth - growth as individuals, as songwriters and musicians, and as a band. This album really demonstrates how far we have come writing, recording and performing over the past two years. It captures a much higher level of maturity that we believe is palpable when you listen beginning to end. It is not a secret. We are very proud of this record. Michelle, did you hone your vocal style over time or have you always had a natural ability to sing with rock and roll grit? I started as an R&B/soul singer so naturally, my vocal stylings were a cross between smooth n’ sultry (R&B) and powerful/gritty (soul). Although I never necessarily saw myself as a rock singer, I suppose my “soul” side was already honing me to sing the gritty rock genre. Every day is a learning experience, and I enjoy pushing my limits and learning what my vocals can do. If someone only has time to check out one song from your collection, which would you recommend and why? Great question! If you really only had time to check out one song from our entire catalogue, the majority of us would unquestionably say “Kapow”. It’s a fun and infectious little number with a great groove and sing-along lyrics. It just seems to resonate with people regardless of their musical tastes. “Kapow” really captures the energy that the band can create collectively. Having said this, “Survivor” is also a track we’d recommend. It captures a range of emotions, is gritty, yet uplifting, and fundamentally underscores the primary theme we write about: how to survive life’s obstacles. It is not a coincidence that it’s the album’s title track. “Crashing Down” has a strong lyrical depth to it! Do you always write in this manner? Do you ever worry about divulging too much through your songwriting? Or do you think it’s better to be vulnerable? Thank you! I prefer to write in this manner, though songs like “Kapow”, for example, aren’t quite as lyrically deep. It really depends on the subject matter. I’ve always felt that songs with a strong emotional message need more depth of imagery to truly reach the soul. I don’t worry about divulging too much because I’m not always writing about personal experiences, though some songs are deeply personal. I often write based on my experience with the world around me. Most of the time, I’m writing about the human condition and how we are all inherently vulnerable, whether we are willing to admit it or not. How do you remain on track to continue writing new content so consistently? It’s not easy, that’s for sure, especially leading up to a release, which requires so much work behind the scenes. We’ve always been good at sharing ideas, chord progressions, riffs, melodies and so on over our band group chat. This has really helped us stay on track with consistent writing and keeping the pipeline full of potential new material. We’ll listen to whatever is being shared, provide feedback and generate additional ideas. We’ll then put it on the backburner and eventually jam to it once there’s a break in our schedule, usually between gigs and releases. These jams end up being the starting point for a song’s development. We’re happy to say that we have a few songs in the hopper already that we’ll consider releasing in the future. Where is the best setting to listen to your songs, and what do you hope people take away from them? Also a great question. Our responses vary, so we’ll break it up by band member: Michelle: The best setting to listen really depends on the song, but many songs are introspective and therefore great for listening in headphones or blasting on your speakers in a solitary place. However, our upbeat songs are great for long car rides. Jaina: On your drive or commute. It’s a good way to boost your energy and mood before you arrive at your destination :) Rene: I don't think there's one specific setting. I'd say wherever someone enjoys listening to music, be it their home, in their car, while they're working out, and so on. I hope the listener hears how much the band has enjoyed writing the tracks and the journey the album presents when listened to front to back. Bret: Anywhere the volume is high, and the beers are cold. I want people to have fun listening to our tunes. Gio: It depends on the song, but a road trip would be perfect. There are fun, upbeat songs, and more reflective, melodic tracks, so a road trip would provide the right setting to hear the ebb and flow of the album. I hope people have fun listening, while emotionally connecting to the album’s musical journey. www.facebook.com/madamepsychosisband www.instagram.com/madamepsychosisband #BuzzMusic
