How did you originally get started producing music and songwriting? My earliest memories of music are of my father playing the drums. He would be practicing in the basement and it just made me dance and jump around like a madman. The way music made me feel was incredible. I just wanted to be able to do that for other people. I played drums in lots of rock bands with varying degrees of success. When the last band I was in imploded I just decided that I was done with being in bands, but I didn’t want to give up on music. So I bought a computer, a keyboard and music-making software and taught myself to write and produce. I’ve produced and written music for everyone from Selena Gomez to Tokio Hotel to Disney, all while releasing my own music. Though my own music has taken a back seat from time to time while working on projects for other artists. What do you hope your fans take away from your latest track “Party’s Never Over”? “Party’s Never Over” which features (Mark Victor) is the first single off my upcoming EP. “The Antidote” which comes out September 27th on all digital platforms. With “Party” we just wanted it to sound and feel like a party. With all the crap and negativity going on in the world, we just wanted to free people to have a little fun and feel good if even for just a few minutes. Also, I’ve been digging a lot of the Latin music I’ve been hearing lately and I just wanted to give this song some of that flavor. If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why? That’s a hard one. I’m such a fan of music, in general, it’s hard not to find bits in every genre that I love and want to incorporate into my own productions. It’s a lot like cooking. For better or worse I love mixing different sounds and flavors constantly looking to create something new. If I had to narrow it down to one song. Right now I’d say “Eyes On You” by Oekiin. It’s heavy, it’s electronic, it’s a trap, there are cellos and I love the message. It’s out now too. Oekiin is someone to look out for he’s featured on the new Illenium album. What do you think sets you apart from mainstream music today? I’m not totally sure, to be honest. I just do what I do. I’m in a place to be as creative as I want to be. I guess it’s my willingness to combine genres. Hip Hop, Pop, electronic, etc. I love big beats, heavy bass, and great melodies. What do you hope to achieve through the remainder of 2019? My goal for the rest of the year is to expose my music to as many people as possible. Make people feel something, make them dance, make them think, make them happy. Hey :) Thanks guys, we actually met really randomly, myself (Abbie) and Nick first met through a mutual friend and producer, Joe Grouse. From there we actually found Steff while performing in LA he came to a show with a mutual friend from England! Then Abbie found Maeve on Facebook and actually she lives with Ollie and Charlie so that worked out pretty well too! All a bit flukey but it all worked out for the best for us. What does the track “Hippies” represent for you? Can you dive into the lyrics and tell us the meaning behind it? The inspiration for “Hippies” came from reflecting on the modern era and its added pressures, the frustration that the world is far from at peace and how the majority of us are simply caught up in the mess. An escape to a time where love mattered more than political divides, social unrest and social media “likes”, when music brought everyone together. The song takes you on a trip to a past summer romance when the world was your oyster and that invincible belief you could take on anything together. We want to share in the nostalgia, embracing the hope for days where we can live completely carefree and become optimistic for the future of our generation What do you hope your fans take away from your music? We hope that listeners can relate to our honest songwriting and really understand the messages we try to portray with our music. But ultimately we just want people to have fun, life’s too short to not sing and dance every day. What’s your writing process like as a group? Abbie and Nick used to write together to start with and the rest of the gang would write their parts during the production process. I started singing when I was 3 years old and I never stopped. I realized during college that I didn’t want to work for anyone so I started recording music and it’s the best job ever! How do you get started when writing a new song? First I meditate, eat an Açaí bowl and drink an iced coffee then I’m ready to write about life experiences in a way that’s authentic yet relatable. I prefer to write everything on paper, it feels better but if I’m at the airport I’ll just use my notes app in my phone. “Chanel 22” offers a mellow groove and a notably delicate ambiance that lets the song’s story-line stand out quite distinctly. How did you come to write this song, and what does it mean to you? This song came to me as I entered a new relationship ..I was missing him on the plane ride from LAX to MIA and the lyrics started flowing to me so easily because it was exactly what I felt at that moment. When I got back to LA I sang it to him and since he’s a producer/engineer he gave me a beat and it means a lot to me to be able to create with someone I’m in love with. Who or what would you say inspires you the most to pursue and put your time and passion into music? I’ve tried so many things in life and I feel the happiest when I sing. Singing increases serotonin levels and prevents anxiety. It is my creative release but also keeps me mentally balanced. Simply put, Mundaze is six dudes making music out of Santa Cruz, California. The group first met when their individual bands began playing at the same shows and they all became friends. When they first jammed together, it happened to be a Monday, that’s where the name Mundaze was born. Mundaze’s members all contribute to the songwriting process and their unique vocal recordings are thanks to them all singing into once mic. A fan of the unconventional, Mundaze likes to record their material in strange ways. This release is our first music debut, and it represents a place we all have been in and a feeling that has brought us together. Great to be featuring your latest music here on BuzzMusic Ay! What inspired you to write your most recent track "Fake"? Hey! It’s always awesome to talk to you! The inspiration for ”Fake” came from both personal and witnessed situations. Sometimes people closest to us are not acting in our best interest and it can be hard to figure a way out of those relationships. My solution in the song is to reflect that “Fake” behavior back by not engaging in the drama at all, letting it roll off your back. The conflict with this is in a way you too aren’t being fully authentic. How did the songwriting process for "Fake" compare to the recording process? They happened all at once! When I first heard Anthony Resta’s guitar riffs in the studio the lyrics melody and other elements came together immediately. We know how big of an impact music has had on your life thus far. Can you try to explain to our readers the personal connection you feel with music, and how it has changed your life? Music is my life. Since I was a child I was so moved by music and for whatever reason, I was able to create it. I knew immediately I wanted to recapture that feeling of connection with artists that inspired me by sharing my own art with others. Do you feel like you face any predominant challenges in the music scene? What kind of challenges have you faced that have ultimately shaped you as an artist today? The biggest and only challenge that matters to me is capturing the vision I have of an idea, perfecting that to the best of my ability, then setting it free. Olympia Papageorgiou was born in Larnaca, Cyprus, into a musical family. Singing and playing piano from a very young age, Olympia and her family moved to America when she was 8 years old. Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Olympia was signed to Qurriculum Global Record Label in February of 2017. He music ranges from R&B and jazz with Greek and American influences. Olympia is currently striving towards her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Mercer University while also pursuing music. “Salud” Ft. Have you had any professional training or having you honed your vocal style over time? Thank you very much, that is a wonderful compliment! I have always joined chorus groups in school so I had some basic training throughout my younger school years but I have had a vocal coach now for over 12 years! She is a wonderful woman and has helped me learn some important skills. There is always room to improve even after years of training so I hope to continue my lessons as much as I can. I am very grateful. What does your track “Salud” mean to you? What inspired this song? This song is such a summer vibe. It reminds me of the summer on the beach and having fun with friends! I also love to dance and the moment I heard this track, I wanted it. This song came about because I love to bring in more of an international twist to my music and this was the perfect opportunity. I love world sound and influence. I am from a Greek background so I try to mix Greek in wherever I can and Salud was really the song that I could do that with. Eddy Fuego, raps his part entirely in Creole so this song really merges cultures and languages together. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? I have a few singles out now that are completely different from each other. The songs go from Reggeaton to RnB so you can imagine that each song would attract a different audience. I hope that when a person listens to my music it takes them away for the few minutes that it plays. I want people to enjoy the music for what it is. Maybe it will inspire them in some way. What has been one of your most memorable or life-changing achievements so far? When I was signed to Qurriculum Global, an independent record label in Atlanta, it changed my life entirely. I now have a loving and supportive team and was able to release music officially as a recording artist. It is so strange to type your name in Apple Music and your face shows up you know? It’s a dream and I am living it. The other wonderful thing about this record label is that it supports students and my team understands that I make school a priority. There are many blessings to be thankful for. What are you working on through the end of 2019? We have some things we are working on but they are little secrets.
