- Catching Up With KAGE E On His Latest Release “Proper”
Hey KAGE-E! Tell us all about your track “Proper” Ft. POLLOMADEiT!? What inspired it? I made the beat one night after getting back from the studio and knew I had to write to it. A couple of minutes after I had gotten the beat done and was about to write I got a bunch of calls from some random number and then I just thought of the first line. “I don’t pick the phone up ‘less the ID's reading dollars. Then I just built around that. I hit POLLO with the song and just like that it all came together. What’s the concept behind the music video? What was the filming process like for you? To be honest there weren’t too many processes. We went to Kensington Market and just started filming where we could find nice views and stuff. Me, Pollo, my friend Jotam and Marq/ the filmer just has fun and it came out how we wanted it too. What future collaborations can we expect from you? I have lots of collaborations in the works. I’ve been working with lots of talented artists such as Tino Tipsy, LAFREELOVE, K-OS and tons of others. I’ll leave them as a surprise. Those three that I’ve mentioned should be getting released before the others. What do you think sets you apart from mainstream music today? I think theirs lots of differences between me and most mainstream artists. First, I would say producing all my own music sets me apart. What I try to do in my music is to make people feel a different kinda way, Change their moods and the vibes you know. I also try to take the best parts of other artists and blend them into my style. The other thing is, I make sure none of my songs sound too similar. I don’t like it when I hear artists songs all with the same flow, melody and similar lyrics as each other. I guess the last thing would be that I make music fast so expect much more! What do you hope to achieve through the remainder of 2019? Me and LAFREELOVE’s are going to release our track “Bacc It Up” hopefully before it starts getting cold in Toronto. Then I’m hoping to get some more features out and release a two peace project with my songs Red Dot and More, featuring Bossmane a great artist from Louisiana. Everything is just kinda going as opportunities appear. Then really I’m just gonna keep on working! www.instagram.com/northkage

- Evan Croft Releases New Single "Jam"
Welcome to BuzzMusic Evan Croft! Tell us a bit about your background and upbringing. Where are you from and how would you describe your early influences in music? I’m from Toronto, Ontario. Growing up, I listened to a lot of R&B and pop music like Michael Jackson, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, & John Legend. We fell in love with the release of your latest single “Jam”. Were there any special moments on this record that stood out for you as an artist? I really enjoyed creating this song with Lexxicon. He’s a smart, focused & talented artist. He had a lot of great ideas for the song. What would you consider the most challenging aspect of the production of “Jam”? I’d say the challenging part of the song was finding a day for us both to meet & record at the studio. After we finished writing our verses, it took us almost three weeks to agree on a day and get the song recorded. We hear your debut album is set and ready to go in 2020! What’s the entire vision for this project? This project is to finally introduce myself to the world. It describes what kind of person I am and what I think about. What could we expect from this album? I normally do R&B music, but for this album you can expect a lot of different genres like Pop, Alternative, Dance, and Hip Hop. The track goes on to envelop the listener as the pace increases. Don Castor works his poetic and provocative magic upon you. “Respiro” is a beautiful culturally bright track. The intimate, up front nature of Don’s voice is stunning, and despite the complex and impressive nature of the instrumentation, it takes nothing away from the natural qualities of that voice. “A Different Corner” is a stand-out towards the end of this latest album. The pace and the hypnotic vocal rhythm draw you in from the offset and continue to surround you in a beautifully expressive manner throughout. Impeccable production, incredibly skillful and absolutely worthy of any and all praise sent through. “Give It Back” adds a moment of soul at the perfect moment, a vocalist with a clear and natural connection to the performance. The song takes a minimalist pathway with that subtle but certain swagger and softness combined. Title track/ interlude “Broken” features an inspirational and real monologue from Niketa Calame-Harris. Her words will drag anyone out of their darkest and day motivate you to keep trying. “Me” continues the thoughtful exploration at the heart of Don’s work. He isn’t afraid to appear vulnerable in his openness, and that’s something well worth appreciating as a listener. “Another Wave” furthers this and again the piano and the vocals work beautifully together, entrancing you with the story-line and that ongoing honesty. There is categorically not a single moment wasted on this album. - Corbella Is Back With Another Hit, “GO”
Music is all about the emotions and art created. With powerhouse vocals, cutting guitar riffs, and memorable melodies, Austin-Based band Corbella represents this to its fullest extent. It’s quite obvious when you take a listen to their record titled “Go.” Led by lead singer Britny Lobas, her distinctive voice will take you through multiple dimensions and open up an artistic mind of fantasy where you will feel every passion and emotion behind her dynamically driven delivery. “GO” has a significant amount of sass, fierceness, and piercing vocal projection. It strikes you like electrocution and leaves you wanting more. The amount of grit and rock n roll rasp behind the production of the instruments and her vocals is something super mesmerizing. Corbella keeps the listener captivated with a magnetic music touch to our ears. Isn’t this what art does? Touches us with the fascinating creation and sensations we experience while connecting with it? “GO” opens the pathway for a highly-fastened encounter that you won’t forget. Britny’s voice is measurably augmented. Her range is out of this world and the control she has with her vocal belts was BADASS. Corbella is a band to be on the look-out for & GO is the Rock n Roll artistic creation you didn’t know you needed until now. Listen to Corbella's new song "GO" here and get the exclusive about "GO" below in our exclusive interview! Welcome Corbella! We’re glad to have you back at BuzzMusic! What made you guys come together to pursue this Rock n Roll journey together? Britny: Thank you! Definitely our passion and love for the music. Myself, bassist Russell and drummer Alec had been bandmates in a previous project for a while and really enjoyed working together. We decided we all wanted to go in a different direction. So end of 2017 we took a few months to re-brand, re-focus, and really find the right sound we wanted. Shortly after, Ricky joined us. He brought a whole new sound and different musical influences to the table, which was just what we were all looking for. We started jamming, then writing and the music just starting flowing out. We all just vibed great. Every song that we write is a journey of some kind and it's been amazing to create with my friends and share it with so many people! Are you influenced by any bands? Or would you say your style was more self-invented? Britny: Having four members in a band, we have four different types of influences. Which is great! Because all of our influences impact our songwriting. For me, I grew up singing in church, so my roots dig deep in gospel and soul music. Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Amy Winehouse, to more modern day Christina Aguilera. Then you know, my dad is musician and rock n roller so of course I was raised on the greats. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Stones to name a few. Currently I’m really digging Welshly Arms, Walk The Moon and Zz Ward. But that’s what is so cool about four types of influences. They all intertwine and that’s how our “Corbella” sound is invented. It’s unique and its own thing because of all the influences we all bring. What is the most challenging aspect of fusing together multiple personalities into one unit for the band? How do you overcome this obstacle? Britny: That’s a good question. With four people writing in a room, it can be challenging. Except that I think because there’s four of us, we all kind of know to just listen to one other a little more and not hammer in our own agenda. We’ve all learned to trust each other. If someone comes in with an idea with passion behind it, we’re going to all go with it. And so we work well together, and respect each other. “GO” was a killer song that we connected with immensely! What was the meaning behind the passionate lyrics? Britny: Thank you! Personally for me at the time, I really needed to let go of something that was really hard. I knew it was the best thing for me and the right thing to do. It’s a song about finding the strength within yourself to say, “Ok I got this” and “I can do this” A song about triumph after hard struggles, and about letting go and finding yourself. I think so many people can relate to this. I think the song inspires people and makes you feel something. Can we expect any upcoming exciting performances from Corbella? Britny: Yes! Starting this fall we will be hitting the road and doing small tour runs in and around Texas! Which we are really looking forward to it! Then this December we will be releasing another single and having a big release show here in Austin! Connect with Corbella on social media: Youtube Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
- Porsh Makes Her Groundbreaking Debut With “You Left Me”
Porsh is an upcoming singer/songwriter from Lake City, South Carolina. She’s been singing since the age of 5 years old but didn’t take it seriously until she was 20 years old. Growing up listening to contemporary artists such as Brandy, Whitney Houston, and Chris Brown, Porsh describes her music as realistic and passionate. Porsh’s uniquely soft voice caught attention from her current piano teacher. He worked individually with her, to ensure that her talent would be heard. She’s expected to release more singles and an upcoming album later in 2019! Stay tuned. Porsh released her first single “You Left Me” late summer 2019 and everything about the single is heartwarming and soothing. The meditative and highly emotional track “You Left Me” was inspired by a recent heartbreak in Porsh’s life. The arrangement allows the piece an impressive amount of space to breathe, and the ambient sound of the recording space and Porsh’s hypnotic vocals all add to the songs' organic heart. “You Left Me” is wonderful, dynamic and unique, with just enough vulnerability and openness to develop true connections with her listeners, but a little bit of mystery leaves us craving more. “You Left Me” is a spectacular debut and worth a listen! Stay on the lookout for a debut album from Porsh, coming late 2019. Check out “You Left Me” here and read more with Porsh below! Hey Porsh! We’re loving your debut song “You Left Me”! What do you hope your fans take away from your music? My music comes from the heart. I write about things that happen to me personally. When my fans listen to my music I want them to realize that it’s okay to be vulnerable and it’s okay to cry; that’s what makes you stronger. In this generation people think when someone cries it makes them weak. However, that’s not true; it makes you stronger and it shows you actually care. I believe the only way for you to overcome something whether it be a traumatic event or even a goal; is to come face to face with it and embrace it. I also want my music to be empowering to my fans to always follow their heart and embrace the world with love. What does the track “You Left Me” represent for you? Can you dive into the lyrics and tell us the meaning behind it? Writing the song “You Left Me” was very easy to me. Every lyric in the song is true and it came from the heart. The meaning behind this song came from a recent situationship with a guy. I fell in love and I wanted to be in a committed relationship with him. I think he noticed I was falling for him and it scared him. We hung out for the last time in February and the next couple months I wasn’t able to get in contact with him. He gave me no explanation of why he chose to stop talking to me. Even though I sorta knew the reason, I would’ve felt better if I heard it from him. It took me a while to get over him and it wasn’t a good feeling at all, but I made it through. I learned a lot from him; the next guy I’m with, we’re definitely taking it slow. Did you hone your vocal style over time or have you always had a natural ability to sing? I always had a natural ability to sing. I never really had a lot of confidence. I had many people tell me I had an amazing voice but I didn’t think so. Overtime I began to watch many YouTube videos to help me work on my tone and control. Unfortunately, that wasn’t very helpful for me. I decided to reach out to a vocal coach near my hometown. He worked with and helped build my confidence. He told me singing wasn’t my issue, it was my ear. I had to train my ear to hear different sounds, melodies, and harmonies. That inspired me to learn the piano. Learning how to play, definitely played a major role in training my ear. It helped improve my singing abilities tremendously. What do you hope to achieve as an artist going forward? One goal I definitely want to achieve is to show my fans that it’s okay to be different. Never change yourself for anybody and always speak up for what you believe in. I also want to create music that can be remembered and played years from now; that would be a major achievement for me. I don’t want people to get tired of my songs. I want my songs to inspire someone. My goal is to bring real r&b back. The type of songs where you can hear the pain or the excitement when I’m singing. I want my songs to be catchy but also relatable to romance, breakups, etc. Can you tell us more about your upcoming album? I’m working on a 10-12 song album called 222. The numbers 222 is very godly. It’s an angle number. When you see 222 it means to always trust in what you want and not what you don’t want. If you believe, it’ll happen at the right place and at the right time. I decided to name my album after this because I’m a huge believer in signs. I see this number all the time and I believe it’s a sign from God, letting me know that I’m on the right track. On this album I will talk about my person life. This will allow for fans to get to know me better. I also want to include love songs. The type of songs you can play at weddings. - Exclusive Interview: Ben Jamn Releases His New Song “God’s Got Me”
Hey Ben! Congrats on the release of your new single “God’s Got Me”! What does this song represent for you? It truly defines me as an everyday person in life. Knowing no matter whatever I am facing, going through or what my past has done to me, I know that God has always been by my side every step of the way. Where is the best setting to listen to “God’s Got Me”, and what do you hope people take away from it? I feel like if you're facing anything at this point in your life you should turn this song up til your neighbors hear it or the car beside you give you "that look". I hope that if you're facing stress, depression, anxiety or whatever it may be God has your back and trust in that always. What’s your favorite lyric that you feel has the most impact in “God’s Got Me”? Why? "I want the World to see, how you live in me, with every chance that I breathe, I'm praising G-O-D". To me that line sticks out even on my bad days that I face. I never know who might be watching me or looking up to me whether it's my own kid or someone else's I want the World to see how Jesus lives in me. If you had to pick just one song in your collection to adequately describe your sound, which song would you choose and why? That's a great question and to answer it as honestly as possible I truly do not know. I love to be creative and even after 15yrs of creating music I still love to step out of comfort zones and create new sounds within myself or with collaborations. I hope that my fans could answer this one better than I can. It wasn’t long since we’ve last featured your music! How do you stay on track to create relevant content so consistently? I GENUINELY LOVE MAKING MUSIC. As an independent artist you have to really stay on top of your music releases and promotion. Continuously trying to reach new people and develop a wider fanbase. Hook/Pichler offers a genuine state of happiness to anyone willing to let the track fill the room. Check out “Amber” here and read more with Jamie Hook and Eric Pichler below! Welcome To BuzzMusic Jamie and Eric! For those who don’t know, how would you describe your approach to making music? Jamie – I usually start with keys of some kind when I’m writing. Sometimes it’s piano, sometimes it’s a rhodes or a synth. After I have some chords or a riff I like, I’ll add drums and bass. I guess since I’ve been playing piano for so long that starting with a keyboard instrument just feels natural to me. Eric – For me it’s the total opposite. I usually have a melody or baseline floating around in my head for a couple days, then I’ll play it out when we go into the studio. We try to take advantage of moments of inspiration and like to work on new ideas when they’re fresh, and when the creative juices are flowing. Jamie – We like to analyze a lot of stuff too. Like, if we dig a bass line, we’ll learn how to play it, and try to write something similar. It’s a great way to learn all kinds of stuff, from cool chord progressions, to little production tricks and stuff like that. What have been some of your most memorable achievements in music so far? Jamie – Just the fact that we’re still passionate about music after all these years feels like a bit of an achievement, honestly. It hasn’t always been super easy. Just like everything else, there are ups and downs. Sometimes you’re in the zone, and everything just clicks. Other times it feels like things aren’t going anywhere. It can get frustrating at times, but it always pays to push through obstacles, and strive on. Eric – My most memorable moments are definitely from playing shows. That’s where you get to show everyone how hard you’ve been working. We’ve both been in a bunch of different bands and projects since we were 10 or 11. So we’ve had lots of time to sharpen our songwriting skills, and our chops on our instruments. Jamie – Yeah, I’ve been playing piano for my whole life. I feel like all those years of piano have definitely given me an edge when it comes to producing. I also went to university and receive a bachelor degree in music composition and theory. I took piano lessons there as well. Even though I’m not really into writing classical music anymore, I still use a lot of the concepts I learned in those classes when I’m making beats today. Yup, I’m a music nerd, and proud of it! What do you hope your listeners take away from “Amber”? Jamie – We were trying to go for a chilled out vibe for this track – something you’d put in a driving playlist, or maybe a jogging playlist. The track started out as an ambient house beat. Then we added some pretty cool leads, which I think gave it a bit of a different flavour, and made the track a bit more upbeat. Eric – Amber is also the first Song we’ve ever had published to Spotify, so that’s pretty exciting. It’s available on all of the other streaming platforms too. We’re both constantly learning more and more when it comes to producing. Hopefully our music shows that too, and continues to improve as we release more tracks. What’s one piece of music tech or software you couldn’t live without? Jamie - We definitely couldn’t live without a laptop and Ableton (or some kind of DAW). Without those we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. I couldn’t live without a piano either. I know it’s not really tech, but that’s my bread and butter. I might be able to get by with a nice synth or keyboard, but nothing beats the real deal. Eric – Yeah, I definitely couldn’t live without drums. When it comes to tech though, I’m a big fan of analog synths. I like that extra grit you get from analog. Particularly when I’m coming up with bass lines or arps. What’s one piece of music tech or software you couldn’t live without? Jamie - Well, we just released our first two singles, and now we’re working on an EP. We’re hoping to have that finished by the end of the year, so stay tuned for that. That’s actually what we’re focusing most of our energy on at the moment. As for the bigger picture, eventually we want to release an album – or a bunch of albums, hopefully. Eric - We’re also looking forward to getting more involved in the local music scene here in Vancouver. We’re really hungry to start playing some shows again. Our live show is going to be a hybrid between a DJ set and a live performance. We’re going to have drums and synths on stage with us – it should be pretty epic. I’ve seen a few people do this kind of thing really well. It’s always cool to see an artist go that extra mile and doing something out of the ordinary. Marcus Alland is an upcoming hip-hop artist and a native of Queens, New York. His music represents the unique sound of a young artist who is both vulnerable yet quickly maturing. With a natural talent for music production and an inner drive for creativity, Marcus Alland is poised to be the next big sound to emerge from the hip-hop industry! He was inspired by music at the young age of 14 when he would sing in his church choir. He formed a spiritual connection to music and began writing rap lyrics and performing them for his peers when he was only 16 years old. As a skilled vocalist and creative thinker, he gained the confidence to perform at open mic nights and this helped him realize his passion in the arts as a performer. Success did not come overnight though, Marcus had to work hard, day and night to establish his craft to where it is today. He released singles like “Come Alive”, “Forza” and “Lemme See” by focusing his energy into songwriting. The result is songs that feel complete, passionate, and unique. "Lemme See" is a powerful and uplifting track for women around the world. Fusing a contagious R&B back track with positive lyrics, Marcus Alland gives women a feeling they should always feel. He says “It doesn't matter what size you are or what color skin you have. When you step out into the world, you should always feel confident and beautiful.” “Lemme See” is hard-hitting, sensual and hypnotizing, everything a hit needs to be. Marcus is a dynamic artist who isn't afraid to bend genres in order to create new wave experiences for his listeners. With equally confident visuals to match “Lemme See” is on its way to the top of the charts. The music video for “Lemme See” is energetic, fun-loving and completely addicting. For those who don’t know, how would you describe your sound and your approach to making music? Well my sound is more of a vibe felt sound and it’s got a soulful taste to it. Some would consider some of it a r&b feel. But as far as my approach, I would start with the music itself and build from there. Sometimes I would freestyle to it to catch the vibe. What was the concept behind the music video for “Lemme See”? The concept behind the video was to show women that you are beautiful no matter what size or shade of color you are. There are women out there who are conscious about their appearance and every woman deserves to feel like they’re the baddest queen out there! Can we have a hint at a release date for you debut album? It’s still in the works but we’ll have something for you guys soon enough. Can you describe your live performance? What would be your dream venue to perform at? My live performance was very intimate with the crowd from the release party and it was a great vibe. My dream venue to perform at would have to be Coachella! It’s always been a dream to headline! What does your track “Lemme See” represent for you? It’s to show the world that I have an appreciation for ALL the women in the world from what they do to how they look.
