- Maanz Global Updates BuzzMusic On His Recent Music!
Welcome back to BuzzMusic Maanz Global! Your new track "Offshore" is something drastically diverse from what we're used to hearing from you. How did you create this track? What do you hope your listeners take away from it? This track was inspired by two of my trips. One I took to Dubai & Oman the other from Hawaii this summer. I really just felt a vibe from the beat that reminded me of my trips but also that I’m still always grindin. I’m a huge believer that you can work & play hard and that’s exactly what I do. I hope my listeners get a sense of how I travel while also knowing I work hard to do so. You bring an admirable confidence to the music scene! Do you have any advice for other up and comers like yourself? Honestly, I appreciate the compliment. I would say that I have pretty high confidence but I also criticize myself. The key is to finding a balance but more so focusing on what you think of yourself versus what others think of you. What do you aspire to achieve as an artist? I want to be able to share my good energy and always show love. To inspire people up and coming while celebrating the successes along the way. I think most of all I just want to leave a legacy through my record label Vibez Collective. If someone was going to listen to only one song from your repertoire, which track would you suggest and why? That’s tough.. I think so far within my songs I’ve given different vibes. I think if you’re feeling aggressive it would be Problem but if you’re just trying to vibe while listening to boss talk it would be Lemonade or Live it up. I get a strong sense that you read a lot and think a little more deeply on things than most – where do you generally get your inspiration from, and is there anything outside of hip hop that drives you creatively? (poetry, books, movies, politics, etc.) I read a lot on my phone. From articles to informative tweets etc, I get a lot of information through the right avenues on social media and my own searches. Most of my inspiration and creative drive outside of hip hop comes from traveling, food, and my interactions with people. I have huge ties in travel and food with family of mine being a world renown chef and another part of my family in the travel industry. A lot of my passion comes from building my various ventures from the ground up. What’s the hope for you going forward in 2019 and beyond? Continuing to build Vibez Collective into a household name. I’m all over social media, I’ve created a podcast, fashion is on the way and more ventures to come. I want to influence every aspect that I have a passion for. - Wake The Wild Seamlessly Blends Genres With “Ritual”
Wake the Wild is a Los Angeles based trio of lifelong friends that fuse live instrumentation with electronic dance aesthetics. “Ritual” is the first in a series of four singles solidifying the next chapter of their sound which fuses funky house, catchy melodies and danceable grooves. Over the past few years Wake the Wild has worked with musicians across genres including Ryan Tedder, Charlie Puth, Nick Cannon, Ava Max, French Montana, Chromeo, AJ Mitchell, Life Of Dillon, NSTASIA, Nadia Ali, and the guitarists from The Weeknd, 30 Seconds To Mars, and Florence + The Machine. “Ritual” is a catchy new hit all about dusting off negativity and how we can find balance through the different cycles of life. The music is notably clean and spacious and allows focus to remain firmly on the vocals and lyrics. The rhythms have been programmed in a way that complements the vocal development, ebbing and flowing for emphasis. Wake the Wild’s haunting trips into musical soundscapes are particularly affecting, a cross between emoting and adding atmosphere. “I won’t let it phase me” directs the smooth male vocal on a mesmerizing melody to keep up with the empowering theme of the track. The dynamic between Wake the Wild in “Ritual” absolutely makes the track. Their interplay and differences give the track the drama we need to see it through to the very end. Listen to “Ritual” here and read more with Wake the Wild below in our interview! Tell us about your song “Ritual”! What inspired this? “Ritual” is about dusting off negativity and finding balance through the different cycles of life. Everyday we come home from a long day's work and find an escape in music; that’s our ritual. This is the first of four singles solidifying the next chapter of our sound which fuses funky house, catchy melodies and danceable grooves. It's been a minute since we've released new music and since then we've been writing, producing, writing some more, producing some more and now we have a sound that feels more like what we envisioned for Wake the Wild. Ritual is a great balance of some of the new influences that we've been vibing off of as of late. Who in your life would you say has had a great effect on your music and your direction as an artist? We've always loved R&B, funk, jazz, soul, so incorporating influences from Prince, MJ, Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan and other classic artists has been huge. We love some of the dynamic and catchy bass lines of artists like Disclosure and fused them with sounds and synth and groove elements from artists like Pomo. We've also been on a huge Oliver kick so you can hear a lot of them in our newer stuff. How does the music you make now compare to when you first started creating it? We're embracing our background as live performers/instrumentalists more than before. We are a dance band! We are all about making music that translates well live and gets a dance party started. We still love some of our older songs but man are they tough to play live! Our newer stuff is more band oriented, more organic, and much more retro/80's influenced. Incorporating more live guitars, basses, and grooves has also helped bring our newer music to life. Using space and feels effectively goes so far in getting people on the dance floor! We've been taking elements from some of our favorite artists of previous decades such as Prince, Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan, etc. and fusing them with contemporary artists like NAO, SG Lewis, Moon Boots, etc. What’s next for Wake the Wild? We've locked ourselves away for over a year making new music and evolving our sound, and now it's time to share it with you all. Coupled with playing a whole lot more shows, we want to build as much momentum as possible into 2020. So we will release three to four new songs this year, and then have a ton more in the pipeline for next year. Our goal is to have something come out basically every month for the foreseeable future. We have at least 3 more singles dropping this year that will really show the range of our sound. You will hear some more funky dance jams, as well as a some more chill vibes, and even a urban influenced track as well. There may or may not be some dope collabs in the works too! She’s earned her success and we’re excited to see how much further this rising start will go. Listen to “Lavender” here and read more with Vintage V below! Hi Vintage V! What advice would you give to your younger self now, when you first started writing music? The advice I would give to my younger self is to be fearless. There are no limitations except the ones that we mentally create! Can you tell us about the meaning behind the lyrics in "Lavender"? Lavender’s lyrics have several different meanings all in one song. Lavender touches on loving yourself even when you have lost the essence of who you are while in a relationship and after a bad breakup. It is also about loving yourself when their is a void of love for yourself in general. The final meaning is about finding the beauty in the other person after you have broken each other’s heart and you are trying to heal, hence the words “Picture me as even if you still loved me.” I found that loving the good times I had in a relationship helped me to forgive, heal and move on faster than harboring hate. But every one that listens to Lavender feels various meanings behind the song which I love! What was the writing process like? What inspired the song? I was sitting on my knees, hunched over at home with the beat of the song playing, and letting the music touch me. I love getting into an emotional and vulnerable state when approaching a song to write. The next thing I know I was recording the lyrics, “Even if you done love me, love me”... I stopped writing the song for 5 months because I wanted it to really be different and special so I let it come naturally and this is the outcome. Who are you biggest musical influences and why? Every artist that has ever dared to dream and be different and creative are my inspiration. I literally listen to everyone from Whitney Houston, Blink 182, Jodeci, Radiohead, to jasmine sullivan. What are your career goals for 2019? My goals for 2019 is to continue releasing music and touring with the hopes of creating more of a buzz with my new music. Well I’ve always loved performing and connecting with people through live performances, but I wanted to show more of me. Writing and recording my own songs gives me the opportunity to share my music with a bigger audience. How do you get started when writing a new song? The process can vary but I mostly start by having an idea that I feel passionate about. Sometimes a melody comes first and other times a lyric. We love “Loyalty”! It’s very powerful, How did you write this song, and what does it mean to you? I’ve always been the type of person that would treat everyone nice, even if they weren’t nice to me. I try to see the good in people and I give them second chances. Loyalty is a song about not letting someone take advantage of your kindness. If people don’t treat you with respect then they don’t deserve your friendship. This song talks about standing up against those people, and showing them that you can fight back. Who or what would you say inspires you the most to pursue and put your time and passion into music? Music has always been a big part of my life since I was little. Music has helped me through many hard times, and always lightens up my mood. I come from a very musical family which has inspired me to do music myself. Ever since I’ve started performing I’ve loved it so much. I know how powerful music can be, and how important it can be in people’s lives. Music allows me to express myself, and get important words, and messages out to people through a form that is stronger than just words. What’s next for you? I am currently performing some live shows and I am also in talks about shooting a music video for “Loyalty”. In the fall I will be releasing another single, which I am super excited about!! - We're Loving Bryan Lazar's Recent Release "All That I Want"!
Bryan Lazar is finally coming out with another album this fall titled "LAWET", and it's going to give listeners a refreshing sound! We're loving how tranquil Bryan is able to make his previous album sound. Bryan clearly creates sounds that are meant to resonate with any music loving heart out there. His voice is soothing, and is inevitably projected onto his execution. We're only imaging the type of atmosphere present during his performances! That kind of buzzing positive energy would be amazing to be involved in, that's for sure! Bryan Lazar only really comes off to us as an honest guy with a whole lot to share artistically. We're excited to announce his track off of his latest album: "All That I Want". The introductory melody to "All That I Want" is phenomenal. You feel loose and relaxed. His voice blends into the rhythm as if the pairing was always meant to be. We can compare Bryan's vocal soundings to the likes of a young John Mayer. The effortless class, flow, and underlying swank that he has to his sound is comparable to some great sounding R&B/soul male artists we've been accustomed to. "All That I Want" has a soft and rugged approach to its overall mood. Bryan is able to create the perfect ambiance for listeners, and curate a beautiful and intriguing tone. What makes Bryan stand out as an artist is the undeniable charm he possess within himself, which is effortlessly projected to his sound. Bryan Lazar is the next big artist emerging into the R&B/Soul music scene, and so we're definitely keeping an eye out for what he'll be up to! Give a listen to Bryan's "All That I Want" here, and continue reading for our interview with Bryan Lazar! Hey Bryan! Can you tell our readers how the production of "All That I Want" went overall?! Sure! I've been writing and recording a lot over the last 5 years, mostly from the comfort of my home studio but I felt as if I had hit a wall with my production. I'm the type that loves to create layers musically speaking and sometimes if you add a little too much, the sound starts to lose it's shape and identity. It's a lot harder to fix than one would think. I think it was a few weeks that went by and I heard a song on the radio that really caught my ear. I loved how stripped back it was while still packing a punch and keeping your attention. I thought to myself "I want to do a track like that". Simple, stripped, soulful and sexy. I was also starting to get into the serious stage of a relationship with somebody so the lyrical content wasn't difficult to come up with. Sometimes life can be a lot of fun sharing it with somebody else and that was the message I wanted to get across. I think the melody idea popped in my head while I was shopping at Trader Joes (like most songwriters) and I think I had the song pretty much done within a week or two. I sat on releasing this for a minute and finally decided to jump the gun. Super happy that I did, I think this is one of the better songs that I've ever written and I'm very proud to have this out. What would you say is the most impactful lyric embedded in "All That I Want"? I really like the line "You take my hand and you let my mind see what this world has to offer me", because it's the truth. It's kind of wild how your perspective of things can be changed if you share experiences with somebody you feel strongly for. If someone were to only listen to one song of yours off your recent album "Old Ways Idle Days", which song would you recommend? Why is this the song they should listen to? Hmm, well that record is THREE YEARS OLD now, believe it or not, so I definitely feel that my sound has changed a little since then...BUT my two most popular tracks are off that record (Coffee Shop, Hold on to You) and the record has surpassed 10 million streams worldwide so it really holds a special place in my heart. With all that being said, I think "Hold on to You" would be a great first track for somebody to take a listen to. What is the most rewarding experience you have had throughout your musical career thus far? I've been grinding at this for a minute now and I won't lie, it can be really tough. I am completely independent and everything comes from me (music, artwork, social content, PR, etc.) so it can be pretty overwhelming at times when you don't have a team. But this year I surpassed 20 million streams worldwide via Spotify and it was a pretty amazing milestone in my life and career. It's wild to think that the things I create about the personal connections and moments in my life can be heard by somebody on the other side of the world and they too can say "hey, I get it". That never ceases to amaze me and I know that it's a privilege to be able to do so. Are you planning on performing anywhere in the upcoming months to promote "LAWET"?! I am! I will be performing next month at a secret location in Venice, CA for a very new exciting Acoustic showcase that is called "Saturday's At Seven". Be sure to check them out! My show will be September 14th. I will also be performing October 1st at The Viper Room. We are in the process of booking shows for the rest of the year and next year as well, so be sure to look at for dates! Watch out for upcoming releases and shows from Bryan via his socials! - BuzzMusic Talks With CJ Pitts!
Hey again CJ Pitts! Great to have you back on BuzzMusic! Can you tell us what you've been up to since the last time we had you on here?! What’s up BuzzMusic Fam! It is always get to get support from you all so thank you first and foremost. I’ve been keeping buys lately with working on a lot of new material as well as collaborating with new artist, and even writing for some people. We gave a listen to your latest track "Team Player". One thing we love about the tracks you put out is the undeniable energy that surges through us when we're tuned in. What kind of feeling do you want your listeners to predominantly feel when listening to your music? Honestly I want my listeners to ultimately feel inspired to chase their own dreams. I preach confidence in a variety of ways and just believing in yourself and your passion. “Team Player” was a more swagger type of approach to tell people I believe in what I have and my squad is full of crazy talented people. I put this message out in hopes that it will inspire other crews to work hard and share that same confidence. How was the production process of "Team Player"? Did you face challenges curating the track? The process was super fun actually. A friend of mine sent me over the track and I fell in love with beat instantly had the concept of like a team chant type of record. It wasn’t until after I had some great convo with a few other artist friends of mine involving our status in the music industry and how we can some times get caught up in wishing we were further along in our careers like other people, I realized we are right where we are suppose to be. As long as we continue to work hard and stay dedication to the dream, those same life-changing opportunities are right around the corner for us. If a listener could only listen to one of your tracks, what track would you recommend? Why is this the particular track you think is the first one they should listen to? It’s an older track of mine but it's called “Me & You”. I think this is a great intro song for someone who hasn’t heard of me because it showcases solid songwriting with that Pop/Mainstream sound. It has a very simple but catchy chorus and it also showcases my singing and rapping all in one song. There are a few records I could pick but I think this is a solid one out the gate. You're always coming out with killer tracks--you never disappoint! What's coming up next for you and your music? Thank you so much! It honestly means the world and keeps me pushing forward! I’m super excited because I have been working tirelessly on my next album! It is a 12 song project and it covers every style of music that shapes me and who I am as an artist. I cannot wait for people to hear what I’ve been creating and I whole-heartedly believe that its 5 steps up from where my music is currently. I’ll be revealing the album title and song list soon so the people must stay tuned! You can listen to "Team Player" here, and get the latest info on CJ Pitts and his music via his Instagram! #BuzzMusic
- Getting To Know More On Eclectic Artist Boy Tox !
Hey Boy Tox! How's the music world been for you thus far? I think it’s a very exciting time to be making music. For the longest time I was stuck listening to older music and didn’t see the merits of what contemporary musicians were doing, but shortly after I discovered Animal Collective modern music started making a lot more sense. I think it’s easy to feel like “wow everything’s already been done” but the fact is many of my favorite musicians from many different genres and traditions have been able to surprise me again and again with something exciting that I’ve never heard before. My goal is to do that for people. The world of music has meant a lot of hard work and definitely felt like a pipe dream to me at points, but I’m finally getting to a place where I’m surprising even myself with some of my tracks and realizing that I’ve got something unique going for me. We listened to your latest single "Falling Into You" and it has an incredible raw and authentic element to the entire track. Tell us how the creation and overall production went for this track! This was a track that I really surprised myself with. These last few years I’ve fallen in love with indie pop music, especially when it has an experimental edge to it (bands and artists like Animal Collective, Xiu Xiu, Jai Paul, Ariel Pink). I knew my goal was to write music like that, and have been listening nonstop to a playlist I created full of interesting experimental pop songs to go to for inspiration (the playlist is the “Boy Tox Influences” playlist on my Spotify for anyone interested). I have also been working hard on becoming proficient at the guitar, and recently acquired a Teenage Engineering OP-1, both of which have drastically improved and expanded my capabilities as a songwriter. I came up with chord progression first for “Falling into You”. I’ve been struggling to get the energetic and upbeat sound I want on the guitar, but nailed it on this track. I was then ecstatic when it worked well with electronic drums. Many of my favorite songs combine acoustic and electronic drums, so it has been a goal of mine recently to include electronic drums when possible. From there I just started putting together pieces, and eventually wrote the lyrics once I had developed the instrumental. Lyrics are always the hardest part for me, but I’m incredibly proud of the lyrics on that song, something just clicked while I was writing it. Like all my songs under the name “Boy Tox,” all parts of the song are written, played/sung, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by me alone. The lion share of the work for that song happened in a single day, locked in my room! What do you think personally sets your music apart from other indie/contemporary pieces out there? I think I toe the line with respect to genre a bit more than many of the contemporary indie artists I’ve heard out there. I think it’s always exciting when styles get blended to create something new, and try to do that for my listeners. I like to think of myself as following the direction a song is bringing me in, rather than trying to force it somewhere else, and that’s why you get so many of the different moods and styles in a given set of my songs. This is especially true on my album “I Guess I Needed Some Time Alone,” which is a bit all over the place. I also think my music is very honest, and that this is brought out by the rawness and the occasional imperfections. Like I said, I did all the writing, playing, recording, production etc on this track, and I definitely know I can’t do all of those things flawlessly yet. But a lot of the time, those imperfections will make a track for me (like I said, I like surprises). I’m a huge fan of outsider artists such as Daniel Johnston and lofi/bedroom pop artists like Youth Lagoon and Katie Dey, and this is in big part due to the honesty that I hear in their music. I think honesty speaks to people, and I can only hope that my listeners can hear the honesty in my music. How would you describe your goal for Boy Tox and the future of the project? Are there any big plans for the future of Boy Tox? I love playing in bands, but as a college student it can be hard to be in a lasting project given the fleeting nature of it all. I started Boy Tox so I had an outlet to make music in addition to any other temporary projects I might be working on at a given time. My goal for a while has been to be able to compose and play interesting music on my own, since I figured it would make working with others easier if I understood the work that went into the other steps of the process. A drummer who also plays guitar will know better how to work with a guitarist than one who doesn’t is kind of the idea. I feel like through Boy Tox, I’ve been able to meet these goals of composing interesting music on my own. I’m going to keep working hard on this project, regardless of what other projects I have going on, because I love doing it! I’d like to have a new album out by next summer at the latest, and am planning on booking a small west coast tour and a small east coast tour for next summer over the course of this next year. Additionally, I’ll be supporting friends, such as the very talented Alan Yang (of Lounge Act Jam and 反覆墜落 Repeatedive) at shows in Portland, Oregon next year while I finish school, and plan on starting a side project or two as well. Definitely a lot to come within this next year, I’m especially excited to work with my friends. Working alone is great but it can get lonely! Where would you say is your favorite place to perform? What's the energy like in your crowds?! Any upcoming shows? I always have loved DIY shows and venues, in basements or random warehouses or on college campuses. A few years back I planned and played some events like that when I was playing with Tomato Soup and the Basil Boys, and it was a lot of fun. I’m hoping to plan some events like that in Portland next year. I haven’t done many shows as Boy Tox yet, and it posed an interesting challenge when I did, seeing as I couldn’t play all the parts of my songs live on my own. I recruited some of my good friends, Lou Grignaffini (of Early Bird Special), Roksana Habibi (Roksana) and Stirling Taylor to help out, and even then we needed to cut many layers to make the songs playable and interesting live. My sister, photographer/videographer Zoe Salvucci filmed it all for us, it’s on my YouTube. The crowd had a great energy at our show at the Lilypad in Cambridge, they were super into it! I’ve seen too many shows where I’ve been disappointed by how uniform a band’s set has been, and sought to have this show be exciting and dynamic but still with some common thread. It felt super honest and revealing being up there on stage, I’d been used to hiding in the back behind a drum set! Standing in the front of the stage with a microphone is a very very different experience, but I think we did great, and I think the next one will be even better with all the new material I’ve written since. I have no shows planned just yet, but am going to hit the ground running when I get to Portland next week, recruiting new members so I can hopefully have a show planned and ready by October or November. Our heart melts instantly at the sound of Jackson's voice, and so we're more than excited to announce his recent release "One More Night", which we can guarantee will melt yours too. We're loving the more upbeat and positive elements integrated within Jackson's latest release "One More Night". His sound is rugged, rustic, and filled with surging positivity (that is undeniably addicting). His sound brings us back to a type of feeling that is reminiscent of that underlying folk sound. Jackson combines Folk, R&B and Pop to ensure his sound is sleek and perfected with all elements. The predominant use of rustic sounding instrumentals was a wise choice for this particular track, and Jackson really knew how to craft the overall programming of "One More Night". The bluesy sound he's able to integrate within his music, especially in "One More Night" is stunning and whimsical. We can't help but wanting more from Jackson Wagner, as his sound will never get old! Listen to the incredible Blues/Folk track "One More Night" by Jackson Wagner here! - Devastating Diva Gigi Rich Just Needs “One Night”
Born Gianna Richelle Salvato, the fiery redhead now known as Gigi Rich, grew up in New Jersey. At 8 years old, Gigi Rich discovered Alicia Keys’ album and was instantly fascinated with the idea that she could play the piano and use her love of poetry to write music, and bring it all to life with her voice. he wrote her first song at age 13, which went to the top of the Songwriter’s Circle charts and stayed there for several months. While her lyrics are influenced through personal experiences, her music style is influenced by iconic artists such as James Brown, Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra and Alicia Keys. She is currently nearing completion of her next EP which she is “super excited” about. Gigi goes on to explain "Its been a time of tremendous growth for me. Over the past couple of years I’ve been discovering myself in my music. Writing is cathartic for me - and essential in processing the experiences I encounter in life." “One Night” a groovy, sultry piece from Gigi Rich that we’re jamming out to on repeat. Performed confidently, the seductive bass-line sound keeps things crisp and fresh. Each verse lays out a tad more detail, never too much so as to ruin the laid-back charm of the music, and always things resolve slowly but surely back to the slightly fuller sound of that hook. “One Night” presents a calming, classic jazz ambiance and a romantic sense of togetherness as it gently pours through. Featuring a generally well-arranged instrumental set-up, the track is quick to excite the listener and creates a level of nostalgia with the seductive tones of yesteryear. I highly recommend you check out “One Night” here, and keep scrolling to read more with Gigi Rich! Welcome to BuzzMusic Gigi Rich! What prompted you to first start recording your music? Music has been a passion of mine as far back as I can remember. It began when I started playing the piano and writing little haikus. It naturally progressed into songwriting, and when I was around 12 years old started writing my own music. I was lucky enough to be introduced to people who took me under their wing and believed in me at such a young age. Music has always been a source of solace for me. The fact that I can pursue a career in something that makes me so happy has been a huge motivator for me! How do you get started when writing a new song? It can happen in so many different ways. Lately for me, it’s just building off of a tag line, or title writing as some may call it. Often I record a little voice memo of a melody into my phone. It may start with a chord progression on keys. There are so many possibilities! I only write about personal topics - so whatever may be happening to me in that moment is what I’ll be writing about. “One Night” offers a mellow groove and a notably delicate ambiance that lets the song’s story-line stand out quite distinctly. How did you come to write this song, and what does it mean to you? Thank you! That is exactly the vibe I was attempting to create. I actually wrote this song because I was feeling a bit stuck and wanted to try something new, take a risk. Just forget about everything for a bit. I need some routine and structure in my life but at the same time, it can drive me crazy after a while. So I took the concept of One Night and ran with it. Who or what would you say inspires you the most to pursue and put your time and passion into music? It’s my way of release! A part of who I am at this stage in my career and my life. I can’t really imagine myself doing anything else. Music is not something I ever need to take a break from, it’s just engrained in me - part of me. It's natural for me, even at the low points to try and make sense of what I’m feeling through writing or singing. Even if it doesn’t turn into anything I am happy with, it's cathartic and keeps me on track. What’s next for you? I’m currently working on a new EP. I feel like I’ve really come into my own in terms of sound and this project will show more of that. I’m embracing what comes naturally to me. I’m also playing a bunch of shows around the LA area! I am really excited about what lies ahead. Don't forget to check out Gigi's socials below in order to connect further with the artist! Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
- “Going Under” By Dead Levee Proves Real Rock Lives On
Dead Levee is an old-school, no-nonsense rock 'n roll band comprised of members from various towns and cities in southern Saskatchewan, Canada. Their aggressive, organic, and attitude-driven style harkens back to the high energy outlaw rock 'n roll of the late 60's and early 70's. Big, bold guitar solos, rippin’ vocals, and heart-pounding drums revitalize the contagious energy of rock ‘n roll that the world fell in love with in a fresh new way. Keeping classic rock and roll alive and kicking in every possible way, Dead Levee pour through with “Going Under”. Featuring insanely powerful and stylish vocals, infectious guitar riffs, well-placed distorted, manic drums, and immensely addictive, energizing songwriting. “Going Under” is an absolute highlight, the song rains down around you like a nostalgic hit from yesteryear...though you get the clarity and power of something completely youthful and rooted in the contemporary world. “Going Under” is effective and professionally crafted so as to inspire and satisfy. A perfectly addictive new track form a band that will almost certainly reignite your love for live rock and roll. Check out “Going Under” by Dead Levee here and read more with the band in our exclusive interview below! Hey Dead Levee! Welcome to BuzzMusic. We love the new song!! What does the “Going Under” represent for you? Going under is a song about trying your best to keep your head above water as you struggle with vices and crutches in life. Kind of a universal feeling between all people. What prompted you to first start making music, and what drives you to continue? The first time I listened to Appetite for Destruction by GNR front to back at the age of 12 something clicked in my head and I realized this is all I want to do. Every time I play a show the energy being passed back and forth between myself and complete strangers is just so addicting and beautifully primal. The fans really charge my battery and remind me why I got started and why I have to continue. If you could play any event or venue in the world, past or present, which would you choose and why? Well the obvious answer would be Woodstock right? But Madison square garden, Hollywood bowl, or Wembley stadium would all be unreal. What are your thoughts on the current mainstream music industry and the future of rock n roll? Well there's some things going on in mainstream music I'm not overly stoked about. That being said there are a lot of fantastic things happening, especially with rock and roll. I'm loving this old school sound resurfacing in a new exciting way with bands like Greta Van Fleet, the Struts, and the Glorious Sons to name a few. What’s next for you? Write, record, tour repeat.
