- Cupid Valentino and the Lovely Imperfections Drops “Bad Monday”
Cupid Valentino is a unique talent from Oak Harbor, WA. Born Jared Jenkins from North Hollywood, CA, he grew up in a family of musicians and actors in Los Angeles. His Father is Jamar Jenkins, jazz guitarist and singer/songwriter and producer from 70's band (Cold, Bold and Together) which also includes Seattle jazz legends Kenny G, & Tony Gable from Tony Gable and the 206. In 2014 Valentino released 3 hit singles an R&B record “Sunshine” (to all the girls..) which he had a video on Vevo and MTV, “clapyourhands” a hip-hop record that featured childhood friend and Oak Harbor native rapper Pabstt the Villian and a Remix “Without You” that highlighted the “Love and Waffles” album. Cupid Valentino and the Lovely Imperfections fuses contemporary rap styles in “Bad Monday” and leans in a more creatively free and unique direction. His voice has character and the more of his recent music you hear, the more notable this becomes. Musically this single is quick to leave its mark, feeling partly jazz-cafe-like but with an intermittently heavy beat that hits with impact. Cupid Valentino also delves into his own personal story and world in detail on some of the other singles, offering inspiring honesty and a likable sense of realness that’s easier to connect with. By the time the song comes to an end, it manages to leave a far more memorable mark than the intro first implies. In hindsight, that modern twang of the hook works well to grab the attention of a broader audience. I highly recommend you check out “Bad Monday” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Welcome to BuzzMusic Cupid Valentino and the Lovely Imperfections! When did you start making music? Thank you kindly for having me! I've been in music all my life my family has been in the business for as far as I can remember so it’s something I always know but my freshman year in college is when I started seriously making music. I would produce music for friends, write hooks etc. I never really thought I was gonna rap really. But I’m a huge Pharrell Williams and Andre 3000 fan so I started writing more singing and got good feedback from my dad and peers so I continued to worked on my craft and the rest is history. How do your early releases compare to your sound now? Not A huge difference really. I did more of that boom bap style didn’t sing at as much as I do now but I knew it was dope and everyone liked it so I would say you can tell my sound is more polished. I have a lot more genres in my portfolio than before making me an musician that’s just a rapper but I still do my thang. What was the writing process like for your track “Bad Monday”? Fun! I really wanted to write a dope lyrical song that you could dance too. I made the beat one night and it gave me goosebumps. It’s not a lot to it really just the keyboard and the beat and bars. It felt good that I got to go back to my boom bap roots. I was also watching the Last Dragon so I was in my bag that night. What do you hope your listeners take away from this track? That I’m dope! I hope they feel the vibe. Holiday SZN is in full effect all day everyday and the northwest got something to say! What’s next for you? Staying humble. Continue to grow as a man and a human and build on the success I’ve already established. Sky’s the limit. NBM4EVA! - BuzzMusic Interviews Bria Cheri!
Welcome back to BuzzMusic Bria Cheri! In what ways do you implement your diverse artistic background into your music? Thanks for having me again. It just comes naturally into the music. Whether through the instrumentation or lyrics my goal with my music is to have people feel something when they hear it. What would you consider the most monumental moment in your career thus far and why? I haven't had a monumental moment yet in my career. Even though I have 2 EPs out, I'm still in the early stages of my career. There's been cool moments, but nothing that I can say wow, that's a moment that really skyrocketed things for me. However, I remain hopeful that the monumental moment is coming. As an independent artist everything I do is out of my own pocket which is a good and bad thing. Often times it feels like an eternity before I can get things done such as visuals or other promotional opportunities. This journey is a very long process and I'm learning to be patient and hopeful. You have a new EP out titled "Silent Siren Vol. 1". What does this project mean to you? What's the main theme you had in mind surrounding this project and why? My newest EP means a new beginning. It took a year to create and each song represents things that I have gone through. There has been a lot of growing, sorrow, and learning over the past year. The main theme of this project was to dig deeper and vocalize what I feel, what I've gone through and not being afraid to speak up about it. That's the beautiful part about being an artist. You have an outlet to express your experiences through music and thus connect with people that understand and relate to it. It's like therapy. I'm still a work in progress everyday. Knowing you have a music radio show out called "Flava" on KFSM radio, what kind of content can people expect when they tune in every Wednesday from 6:15 to 7:15pm? How exactly can they tune in? The content you can expect on my show "Flava" which airs on KFSM Radio every Wednesday at 6:15PM Eastern time is light hearted conversation about music and various hot topics in pop culture. Occasionally, I interview artists as well. Just recently I interview reggae artist, Louie Rankin. I decided to keep the same formula I previously used when on my College radio show because people want to escape their reality. I know for myself every time I look at my phone or hear something on the news it's always something bad happening so, my goal with "Flava" is to keep it fun. If people want to listen, you can access the show through the Tunein app and search for KFSM Radio. Also, if you wish to chime in with your comments or questions you can call in at (319) 527-3186. We hear that you have an upcoming performance in Brooklyn, New York on the 24th of August! Tell us how you've been preparing for this gig and what songs you're planning on performing? Yes, I do have a show coming up on the 24th. To prepare I will sometimes stop by my mentor Donnie Klang's "LoftSound Studio" where they have a huge performance stage to prepare how I want the songs to go. I'm planning on performing a mixture of some of my newer songs off my second EP and songs from my debut EP "Before the Music." You can expect to hear "No One Like You," "Here With Me," "Day Glow" and more. Stay connected with Bria via her socials: Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
- The Alternating Currents Bend Genres With New Track “Invasive Daisies”
The Alternating Currents are a Post-Punk, Psych, Art-Rock group from Oakland, California. The band consists of outsider-folk musician Ruben Diaz as key songwriter and vocalist, Augustus DeVandry on Lead Guitar, Eric Park on Bass, and Joe Miller on Drums. Originally formed in 2016 with just Diaz and Miller, The Alternating Currents have fortified their sound with DeVandry and Park to become an established collective. Some have said that the band is “post everything,” supplying a thread between popular and experimental music with their expansive songwriting. The Alternating Currents are supporting their first 7” single “Invasive Daisies/Kingdom How” available through RERERERE Records, as well as their first music video for ‘Invasive Daisies,’ Directed and Edited by Matt Robeson (White Light Prism). The band’s first full length album, entitled “NUN”, is due in Fall 2019. The Alternating Currents have blown my mind with the groovy, bluesy, dirty track “Invasive Daisies”. High energy from beginning to end,“Invasive Daisies” is a timeless hit. DeVandry provides howling, ravenous guitar. Diaz stuns with practically ethrael vocals, Park holds down the low end with thunderous bass, and Miller provides earth quaking drums of the highest magnitude. With precise lyricism and a rhythm section throwing down tight grooves it’s hard to believe the band is only four guys. Upbeat and addicting, “Invasive Daisies” is a song that anyone can listen and relate to, or just jam out to. The song gives off an old school funk vibe, while still keeping things psychedelic and modern. It’s hypnotizing rhythm keeps your interest, while the lyrics let your mind wander. The guitar chords are spectacular throughout, the drumming is precise with hard hitting high hats and the groundbreaking sound of Ruben’s vocals will have you craving more. Listen to “Invasive Daisies” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hi guys! How did you come up with the name The Alternating Currents? How did you all meet? The Alternating Currents came to us because it fit our puzzle in so many perfect ways. Originally the band was alternating in members and instrumentation, while it also fit in the unsettled syncopation of rhythm that we try to achieve in our own unique way. In the most direct relationship, Ruben and Augustus are very involved in electrical engineering and experimenting with our equipment. The band exists like Nicola Tesla believed, we are all awash in a great sea of Alternating Currents in varying spectrums, and we are but antennas and conduits receiving transmission. We all met through different groups we’ve been playing around with over the past 10 years or so, sometimes cross pollinating but always remaining friends with a deep respect for each other’s musical sensibility. Ruben and Joe started the nucleus of The Alternating Currents playing as a duo when Joe began playing drums during one of Ruben’s solo shows. Augustus was living at the house where they would rehearse and was absorbed into the band by melodies he’d been building to develop the sound further. Eric joined to fill in for the first bassist, and stayed in when it was apparent that his contribution layered the songs with a perfectly memorable and hypnotic drive. When you’re not making music, what do you all do? When we’re not making music, Ruben works on instrument and amplifier repair as well as additional work in illustration and Art Direction. Augustus works on electric mechanical projects, modifying and building guitars, effects pedals and guitar amplifiers while also studying fitness and physical healing. Eric spends his extra time performing with his other project Fuckwolf as well as being a session musician and caring for dogs. Joe spends his time working in the cannabis industry and building woodworking projects. Can you tell us about the meaning behind the lyrics in “Invasive Daisies”? What inspired this song? Invasive Daisies was inspired by daisies that my fiancé pointed out growing outside of our bedroom window. They were so delicate and beautiful in subtle purple, white and yellow, with such foreboding associations of death and ‘pushing up daisies.’ I couldn’t help but attach the flowers to an aggressive and unbalanced meditation of passing on. The song Invasive Daisies is a lifetime, pulled through landscapes and situations symbolized by flower varieties and inorganic relationships. The song crawls into your bedroom takes you for a ride through a macabre life and leaves you underground, to be usurped by daisies in search of a desperate catharsis in the Bardo. Ultimately blossoming again and spreading like a beautiful virus. What’s the main theme of your upcoming album “NUN”? The main theme of ‘NUN’ is death and rebirth. It was written over a very challenging time in my life where I lost a great number of loved ones and mentors. It’s about a mercurial group of work pushing reflection, introspection, growth and appreciation for a life as tumultuous as is necessary for growth. NUN is the Egyptian god which represents the primeval watery mass surrounding the world from which at creation, all life sprang. Noon is a warrior who’s glass is half full, blazing with strength and potential, the farthest part of the day from either end. I suppose in summary, the record is about embracing the potential and that hard times pull out of you. What other bands would you compare your genre of music to? We would compare our music to The Talking Heads, Smashing Pumpkins, Televisión, David Bowie, CAN, Captain Beefheart, The Flaming Lips, The Velvet Underground, Syd Barrett, and Brian Eno. We’re focused on genre expanding as much as possible but often are called a post-punk, psych, art-rock outfit. Ohio Natives Andy Hoffman, Alex Hoffman, Matt Gregory, Cory Heddleston, and Trevor Burke make up the Indie Rock band LEDGES. They're giving us authentic, hard-hitting rock elements, with an overall tranquility masking over them. There's a certain type of feeling some rock bands can give you as a listener, and LEDGES knows how to execute their music well to make you feel a range of emotions. The band appreciates real life hardships, and integrates that emotion into their musical production. LEDGES recent release "Convenience" is atmospheric. You're listening to the song, and you feel completely entranced, floating on a cloud. LEDGES has a soft approach to the vocal execution and overall production, and it warrants a soft spot in our heart for them. Their sound is modern, with a slight old-school approach with their synth production. "Convenience" is genuine in its approach, and transitions from soft elements, to daunting heavy-hitting elements. LEDGES authenticity as a band shines through in their music, and especially so in the overall quality of "Convenience". Give a listen to "Convenience" and continue reading for our interview with LEDGES. Check out LEDGES upcoming tour dates to see them at a see near you! Get your tickets here: www.ledgesmusic.com/live 8/22 - Nashville, TN @ East Room 8/23 - Louisville, KY @ Odeon 8/24 - Chicago, IL @ Subterranean Basement 8/25 - Cleveland, OH @ Mahall's Hey LEDGES! We're excited to be showcasing your music on our platform! Can you tell us more about your musical journey thus far? LEDGES came together in 2014. It was just a bunch of us that used to play music in high school together. We started writing some songs and released a self produced EP in May of 2014. Over the years we played some shows and kept writing some new material, but took a long hiatus due to people going off to school and other stuff. In 2016 we started getting together with the core guys that started the band and writing again. Due to a crazy hookup through our friend/bandmate at the time Will Hess, we had the opportunity to go down to a studio in Nashville and record some songs. It started as an EP, but as we kept writing it turned into a full length album. I think we ended up going down to Nashville 7 or 8 times in the course of a year. The product of all that work was our debut full length album "Homecoming." We are super proud of that record and learned a ton about ourselves as musicians through the long, complicated, and sometimes frustrating process of writing an album. After a pretty long break from live shows, we kicked off our new season of touring with a big hometown release party for Homecoming. We've had some crazy opportunities since then including appearances at Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, Brite Winter Festival in Cleveland, Starry Night Music Festival in Indiana, and an opening slot on a tour with Kings Kaleidoscope playing for like 400-600 people a night just to name a few. We're super humbled and thankful for all these opportunities we've had so far. As far as music, since Homecoming's release we've been refining our sound and testing the waters by slowly releasing singles over the past year. Convenience is the last of those singles. What do you think ultimately sets the band in the indie rock music category? What integral elements do you believe make up the band altogether? I think we land in the "Indie Rock" category mainly because our music is mostly guitar driven and pretty hard hitting at times. What we've tried to do though is blend that in your face Indie Rock/Alternative sound with some more ambient synth and production elements. I think it gives us this cool dynamic where our sound is smooth and ethereal one second and in your face the next. We hope it's an enjoyable experience for the listener and keeps people on their toes. "Convenience" was heavy-hitting yet soft, yielding for a stellar track. How did the musical creation go about for the band with this single? Thanks for saying that! Almost all of our songs are written by multiple members of the band. I (Andy) came up with the initial progression/verse lyrics. I bounced it over to Cory our guitarist who added some of the ethereal synth and guitar leads you hear in the track. He also finished off the lyrics of the verse which is why you hear both of our voices on the song. It makes for a cool back and forth. Anyways, I got together with our drummer Alex and we laid down a demo and finalized the structure of the song. Once we were ready, we went down to Revelator Sound in Columbus and recorded with our good friend Jeremy. We went in really prepared an knocked out the song in like a day and really refined the sound of the song. At that point we sent the track to our buddy Nate Furtado to mix it and he knocked it out of the park! We got it mastered at Foxboro studio which also helped bring the track to life. That was a long answer but the basic point is this...I think the track turned out as well as it did b/c of how collaborative the band is in our writing process! Also using people you know and trust to record, produce, mix, and master is SO IMPORTANT. Those processes are really creative and guys like Jeremy, Nate, and Mike (from Foxboro) are almost like additional members of the band when we record. Our songs wouldn't be what they are without them. How do all of you combat creative blocks? Well personally I just stop writing when I run into creative blocks hah...but the great thing about the band which I've mentioned is that literally all of us write. So even if one of us in a slump, the other guys step in and write something awesome. What can we expect to see from LEDGES throughout 2019? Well we're heading on a quick four day tour next week with our good friend Corey Kilgannon! After that we're going to hopefully try to record and put out an acoustic b-sides type EP sometime this winter. We've always loved that kind of stuff and it would be cool to put out something like that and some of those songs are already in the works. We'll also be working on taking these singles from this year and turning it into an EP or who knows maybe another full length! - Allow ANИA To Put You In A Hypnotic Trance With “Midas Touch”
ANИA is an alternative house singer/songwriter based in London. Her classical background, coupled with her other diverse musical influences, can be heard throughout her eclectic tracks. Her brooding, electronic music is laced with haunting, ethereal vocals that have captured the attention of the venues she has performed at in London. “Midas Touch” is a free flowing new single from ANИA and we’re instantly hooked. With a haunting and alluring intro, the track slowly develops into a finely-calibrated and entrancing experience. It takes the listener on a genre-bending and ethrael journey. ANИA allows you to become lost in her vast soundscapes and spectacular musical arrangements. I believe that Anna has an ear for musical sounds that she has crafted from the ground up. If this track is an indicator of what’s to come from ANИA then we’ll definitely be on the lookout for her future musical endeavors. “Midas Touch” is transporting and relatable and is an incredible track from ANИA, brilliant up and comer. Listen to “Midas Touch” here and read more with ANИA below! Hi ANИA! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Your voice is beautiful, how long have you been singing? Thank you! Well I was very lucky to have been brought up in a musical family so there was always someone playing or singing. I played a lot of piano at school and sang in the choir but I never really thought that I could sing. Then about 5 years ago a very good friend of mine, Andy Jordan, asked me if I would join him on his tour in the UK singing a duet and some BVs and I enjoyed it so much I have been singing and writing music ever since. I needed that push, though, as I had never had the confidence beforehand. Sometimes it just takes a thoughtful person having a bit of faith in you to set you on a good path! How did you get started in the music industry? My brother, dad, uncles, cousins and several good friends have played in a variety of bands and solo acts over the years so I have been to many a gig as a groupie in my time! Touring with my friend (as mentioned above) was a huge element of how I got interested in it but, subsequently, I just started writing and dipped my toes in with a few gigs. These went better than I could have expected and were such fun so I decided to keep going and we have now produced a few tracks to release after this one. Who are your musical influences? How do you draw from them for inspiration in your sound? A huge range! Anything from Mozart and Debussy to Civil Wars, Flight Facilities, London Grammar, Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi, Little Dragon and SBTRKT (and who doesn’t love Ed Sheeran?!); the list goes on forever. Music can make us feel such powerful things, so it feels like a waste to write about my own feelings. I always try and imagine and empathize with others’ feelings to make sure the songs are relatable to as many people as possible. All the people I have listed above are amazing at this, whether in their lyrics, their bass, their chord combinations or just the clever use of their voices so that’s what I think about when I am writing. Tell us more about your single “Midas Touch”! What’s the meaning behind the lyrics? Honestly?! It’s a bit nerdy but I was brought up on Greek myths and King Midas has always stuck in my head as a good reminder of what not to chase in life! He wished that everything he touched would turn to gold but soon realized that included his food, wine and even his children. Being greedy and chasing shiny things will often blind you to what’s really important - that’s the idea behind the lyrics: be careful what you wish for! What’s next for you through 2019? Who knows, but I’ve got five more tracks lined up and ready for release and I am doing a lot of songwriting at the moment so I will be doing as many gigs as I can squeeze in and promoting these releases as they come out! Please keep an eye out for them! Connect with ANИA on social media: www.instagram.com/anna1music #BuzzMusic
- “Jaded” By Practice Will Have You Vibing Along To Every Bar
New Texas artist Samuel Hall, or better known professionally as Practice, is a Dallas based rapper and record producer. Every song that he puts out is mixed, mastered, engineered, produced and written by Practice. With southern Hip-Hop lyricism and catchy pop melodies, Practice provides a wide variety of diverse sounds in hip-hop while sticking to his Texas roots. “Jaded” is a blissfully light on its feet yet fast-paced soundscape. It highlights Practice’s skills in both musicianship and production that shine brightly from the offset. It’s busy yet gentle all at once, the details and layers that make it up are each incredibly crisp and impressively crafted. The beat works beautifully underneath Practice’s personal outpouring of difficulty and observations on life. The track sounds great, calming you in contrast with the struggle implied by the concept. The arrangement is brilliant, longer lines follow the simple repetition of this what I know, paving the way for something catchy, hooky, yet loaded with emotion and depth. Some of the bars here are incredible poetic, notably open and honest, all of which works well to impress and connect all at once. Practice doesn’t hide behind anything, the music and the lyrics work as a unit to portray a sense of realness and purity. Even when effects come into play, they’re artistic choices. We love what Practice brings the table and can’t wait to see what he delivers next! Check out “Jaded” here and read more with Practice below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Just to give a little background, how would you describe yourself as an artist, and what are the main values you want to represent within your music? What's up BuzzMusic!? I would describe myself as a Southern Hip Hop Artist that has a lot of versatility. My music represents values like "being yourself unapologetically and self-expression" I want people to feel like they can be comfortable in their skin and be themselves when they listen. What inspired the making of “Jaded”? Jaded was a record that just kinda happened. I had made the beat like 9 months before I even touched it. I was just going through my beats one day and when I found it I immediately wrote the hook and verses to it. Then before you know it it was out! How long have you been making music? I have always wanted to be a rockstar as a kid. I started playing the guitar around 7. But I started making the music I make today when I was 14. I am 20 now so around 6 years now! What’s one of the most important lessons you’ve learned so far in your journey as an artist? Honestly to trust your gut. Always trust your taste and what you think is hot. If you rock with it someones else out there will too! What’s next for you? What are your immediate plans, creatively, and what’s the bigger picture? I release a new song every single Wednesday! - BuzzMusic Interviews LyLirra!
What's up LyLirra! We're glad to have you on our Buzzmusic platform. Mind detailing to our readers a bit about your upbringing and your background? I'm half Ukrainian and half Nigerian, I started music 2 years ago. I was really interested in performing so I started making songs and at first all the beats seemed similar to me but now whenever I listen to them I choose specific ones and they are so different now that I look more into it. Where do you tend to find most of your inspiration for your songwriting? how would you describe the inspiration behind your single "Lingo"? I find inspiration when I experienced something that I would like to share with an audience and when I know it would sound good on a beat. Good beats inspire me to make songs and when it comes to Lingo it's all about the beat that inspired it . It fit so well to my style and my flow that within 5 minutes I had a chorus down for the song. What was the most specific element you wanted to convey in "Lingo" the most for your listener and why? It's mostly a nice chilled back song , it has no specific message or elements, the chorus would probably be the most meaningful. Was there any specific challenging moments you faced during the creation of this single in which you had to overcome? Sometimes I wanted to switch up my flows and rap faster and I couldn't because of the speed of the beat , so instead I didn't rap faster I just switched up flows so people could feel the switch. What's next for you LyLirra? I'm planning on dropping an EP but I might drop some more singles. Take a listen to LyLirra's latest track here, and access LyLirra's Instagram in order to stay updated! #BuzzMusic
- BuzzMusic Interviews Byron Freeman!
Hey Byron! Tell us about your experience so far performing around a media city like NYC. How has the environment been for you and in what ways have you been inspired? Growing up in NJ and so close to NYC, it was always a huge dream to be able to perform my own music there one day. They say, “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.” And so far so good. I have always performed since I was kid, but it was always someone else’s material. So, naturally, I was very nervous about putting my full self out there with my very own creations. The most humbling and inspiring thing was to see the amount of tangible support from my followers showing up in person to my live shows. Having crowds of people in the busiest city in the world making time to come and excited about seeing me perform has truly boosted my love for this even more. I do not just write my music for me, so to have that actual connection of people right there in the audience helps me relate to them on a whole different level. Out of all 3 of your major showcases you've done so far since the beginning of this summer, which has been the most monumental for you and why? Hands down, my most monumental show to date has to be my performance at The Delancey on June 14th. It was my very first live set ever as an artist and I really wanted to make it a night to remember. But, of course, there’s always obstacles trying to get in the way. Literally, the same exact week of the show, I was diagnosed with mild laryngitis, got a partial root canal performed, and at the last minute before the show my videographer wasn’t able to make it. When all of that happened, I had two options: fight or flight. Something in me knew that this was only a test, even though it was my first time. Out of all the many tests I’ve taken in my life, this was the one I really needed to pass. After it was all said and done, I got on that stage and had the best time I have ever had in my life. With everything going on, I had no other choice but to worry about my blessings and the wonderful people who came out to support. And to be honest, that laryngitis allowed me to feel so free with the vocals that it is my favorite vocal performance to date. I even had backup dancers and ONLY performed my music. No covers, just me. I had to put it all out there to really feel comfortable. At the end of the night, I had a moment of... “Yup. I am exactly where I need to be.” Since then, I have been trying to keep the performance momentum going and killing one stage at a time. We loved your single "By My Side". Was there a specific reason you wrote this? What is the meaning behind the lyrics? Thank you so much that means the world to me. “By My Side” is the song that lets you forget all of your pride. It’s about not caring who’s going to say what, or what insecurities or thoughts you might have about a person, and just committing with your heart and soul. When you do that, nothing else matters. I wrote the song about a combination of experiences where I felt like I was bending over backwards for people all the while still not being phased because of how much I cared about them. In some cases, those relationships seem unhealthy, but that’s why I wrote the song. In the bridge I wrote, “I need you in my life. I need you by my side. I don’t care if it’s wrong. I don’t wanna be right.” Sometimes it’s not about being right or wrong—it’s about how you feel. And I needed a song that just felt good to belt out in those moments. We hear that you're planning on touring soon! what emotions are you feeling? Can you hint to us some locations? I have been wanting to tour with my music around the world since I could walk and talk. Truly nothing excites me more than performing onstage, and to have that experience all over the world is a huge dream of mine. Right now, I have a strong following on social media for doing my dance videos/classes and I have been using that outreach to start connecting with people all over. Recently, I see that I have supporters in Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, Brazil, Africa, Paris, and many more fun places. Though that following grew solely from my dancing, the moment I started posting my music, little by little my music has been in demand for those supporters. In fact, I’ll be in Washington DC teaching a FULL Beychella Dance Workshop and afterwards, I am planning on having a link up with some of my supporters who are out there and I am very excited about that. Hopefully I can start popping up to more places very soon. So you can definitely be on the lookout for me in your city! What's the big dream for you Byron? This is honestly my favorite question because unlike most of my long winded and emotional answers, I keep this one short and sweet: “The ultimate dream for me is to be happy and healthy performing and inspiring people through my art even after I am no longer here.” Nothing fuels me like what I love to do, and as long as I am capable to be doing this no matter the scale, I will truly be happy. Stay in the know with Byron and his latest releases through his Instagram! #BuzzMusic
- Welcome Kojau To BuzzMusic!
Welcome to Buzzmusic Kojau! how has your summer been for you and in what ways have you been inspired by this recent past season? It's been a busy summer for me music-wise; I've been in the studio a whole lot, working on a number of different projects and singles to release later in the year. I've been more keen to tell my life experiences in new ways which has been a worthwhile challenge! Let's talk about your background! Where did you grow up and how has your upbringing impacted your music? I lived in Africa when I was younger, which is certainly a different culture compared to here in the USA. I've been exposed to a lot of different cultures and settings in my life and this has made me more globally minded both musically and socially. I take my musical inspirations from a lot of different artists and styles and that will be much more apparent in future releases, especially the longer projects. Let's talk about your single "Hit N Run". In what ways was this record a step up for you as an artist from your previous releases? Hit N Run was just one of those records that clicked and flowed well from the jump. When I heard the beat from BoBeatz, the producer, the hook came to me in seconds. This record is more radio inclined than usual which was an interesting challenge, because topically it had to be more enticing and upbeat, as well as lyrically and sonically. Bee-z was done with his verse far quicker than I was, funnily enough. This one is more lively than most of my other singles which are more laidback. Was there any specific arrangements you were going for in this song? Melodically, yes. I wanted a playful, bouncy vibe that told the story of a heartbreaker who likes to play men. The song is upbeat because it's like "I know what she's trying to do and I won't let her play me", and the hook is also a warning to her and anyone who crosses into her path. Lyrically, it had to be simple and catchy, but I managed to sneak a few punchlines in there! What's next for you Kojau? can you hint to us what we can expect from your upcoming releases? I'm in the final stages of putting together an EP, as well as finalizing two more singles that will drop pretty soon. I've probably already revealed too much, so stay tuned! - INTERVIEW: BuzzMusic Talks With Charlee Bravo!
Welcome to BuzzMusic Charlee Bravo! Tell us about your journey so far. What are some challenges you've faced and how did you manage to maneuver through the obstacles? Well the one obstacle I have is getting people to say my name correctly lol "Charlee Bravo." My journey of course has been a ride in it's on. From having my music stolen in the beginning to not having enough money at times to push. None of this discourages me. I always find away to push forward and give the future I see and I'm creating the best chance of becoming reality. Pray, Manifest, Work. My model for any obstacle. What was the inspiration behind your single "Purple Punch"? Purple Punch was inspired by my haters to be honest. No matter how hard I work no matter how much I do they don't like me. I'm like the Golden State Warriors the best at what I do but the most hated because I'm doing it. Purple Punch is the anthem for those who work hard yet still disliked because of their work ethic and success. We love your wordplay! Do you have a specific songwriting approach you go for? This is an awesome question because to be honest my songwriting usually just flows. With this song my emotion and soul felt so strong it just flowed out of me. I mean I had absolutely no scratch outs on my page. I try and put together the best arrangement that will draw an audience in old and new listeners. I want to use words and situations that you all can relate to. When you rap my lyrics I want you to feel as if you wrote it and are telling your story. How would you describe the lyrical arrangements in "Purple Punch"? I wanted to capture the audience with the hook. I wanted it to become embedded in your minds. Which is why I said it in the beginning. It was like a tale or story of a young man's journey throughout his music career. I want my audience to feel like that through out the entire song. So I made sure to not only add an amazing hook but to add characters I create throughout each verse. Making you feel like there are multiple people on the song but there is only one. Opening your imagination. Thank you for sharing your music and story with us! tell us, what's the legacy you hope to leave behind you as an artist? I want to leave a positive mark on this planet through my entertainment and art. I want to heal and help people through any situation they may be having. Through my art and music I want to bring the very best version of each person I reach... out them. Listen to Charlee Bravo latest single here, and check out his socials below!
