  • “Orange And Beautiful” Is A Modern Love Story By Hot Lettuce

Hot Lettuce is an alternative-rock band from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The three-piece band features two brothers, Jared and Brady Linnen, who along with Manitoba-born Ryan Koltalo have created our catchy and at times, eruptive take on Alt-Rock. Officially formed in 2017, Hot Lettuce is beginning to hone and develop their own unique sound, which is marked by high-energy guitar riffs, layered vocals, driving baselines, and bombastic drums -- all which combine to create a fun, party vibe for their many listeners. “Orange And Beautiful” is the band’s latest single and I’m blasting in through my speakers. The dedication to craft in the detail is admirable. Infectious and vivid music fused with quirky lyrics and skilled musicians. Hot Lettuce brings high energy and an indefinitely loud testimony to the magic of the alternative rock.  Layered guitars, ground breaking vocals and deliberate drums give “Orange And Beautiful” a transporting feeling. The song is quite literally about the love between and a man and a carrot. Do yourself a favor and watch the music video immediately, I haven't stopped laughing. Through on the humor you can really hone in on the talent, versatility and expansive knowledge Hot Lettuce has in music. Don’t miss out on checking out “Orange And Beautiful” by Hot Lettuce because it will not disappoint. We can’t wait to see what this refreshing band has to offer next! Check out “Orange And Beautiful” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell us about how Hot Lettuce came to fruition? How did you create the band name? Brothers Brady and Jared Linnen, two-thirds of Hot Lettuce, grew up playing music together in their parents basement, Jared and the drums and Brady on guitar.  With their music taste being quite similar, enjoying bands like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Black Keys they started to jam cover songs as a two-piece band.  These cover songs would eventually turn into them creating original songs together and playing live as a two-piece trying to emulate other famous two-pieces. That was until earlier this year they met Ryan Koltalo at an open-mic in Saskatoon and have been playing as a three-piece ever since.   The band name came to be on a warm autumn day in Saskatchewan, when a large group of farmers walked into town after a long days work.  They were greeted with the most exquisite buffet of all the best cuisine of the prairies to celebrate that years’ harvest efforts. As they chowed down through the rows of meat, potatoes, vegetables, and grits it was then that one grizzled and calloused man noticed that all the food was gone except one errant piece of lettuce that lay glistening in the autumn sun.  It was at this same moment that the band took notice of the errant piece of lettuce and instantly they knew that had found their new band name. We LOVE “Orange And Beautiful”! It’s good music mixed with funny lyrics! How did you come up with it? I (Brady) was sitting around my apartment one day in Brooks, Alberta just fooling around on guitar with different chords and rhythms.  Eventually I landed on the main chord structure and realized that it sounded like every other generic pop/love song so I began to write a pop type vocal melody that suited the chords.   As that progressed, I realized that my personality wouldn't allow me to write a serious love song like that so I decided that this “love” was going to be something different.  I began toying with a bunch of ideas for the chorus until Carrots seemed to fit perfectly, I then went backwards from there and wrote the verses to start off like a love song but slowly give away the love for Carrots such as the lines, “You were the sparkle to my eye/ You filled me up when I was coming down.” While writing the lyrics I could barely keep it together as it kept getting more ridiculous. Can you dive into some details of the music video? The music video came about through a discussion with our incredibly talented friends at Blister Cinema, Joel Kereluke, Luke Halyk, and Jacob Farrell.  We’ve known them for years and they worked on our music video for our first single “The Wall” as well.  Together we talked about making it almost a parody of all the other new country love songs videos out there today and looked a Dylan Scott’s “My Girl” as the ultimate cheese-ball reference (sorry Dylan) and incorporated shots like the Carrot wedding. From there, we shot the video in two days around our hometown of Wadena, Saskatchewan and the Blister Cinema boys recruited the sexiest lead actor they could find in Michael Eisbrenner and also brought along Jermey Ratzlaff to help them capture this romantic love story. It was one on the most ridiculous things we have ever done and we couldn’t be happier with what Blister Cinema produced for us. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? When writing our music we hope that it provides the listeners with an energetic boost to their day in some sort of way.  Whether that be through a powerful and gritty rock song or the more care-free loose vibe of “Orange and Beautiful”. We hope that this entices them to check out our other releases. What’s next for Hot Lettuce? Next, we plan on recording a second EP in the very near future and hope to release that as soon as possible.  We hope to capture our new, more polished and energetic sound that has been built over the past year as we have grown into a three-piece band that will stray away from the more comedic side of music for now. • Echoglass Released The Sensational Record “Lonely”

Echoglass is a band that was formed in 2016 and created eclectic music influenced by a vast range of genres. With their heritage deep in the great North West of England music scene, they are inspired by the artists, poets, and legends of the region like Shaun Ryder, Ian Curtis, Pete Shelley, Gary Aspden, LS Lowry, The Beatles, and more. Echoglass is composed of DA McKenna, Remmy, and Bo. They are currently independent and release their music on Darkhouse Recordings. Prior to forming Echoglass the various members busked, begged and carried out a variety of unsavory professions in order to feed their need for exquisite dining, fine alcohol, casual terrace wear, and Spezial things. We took a listen to their single titled “Lonely” and this smooth track will move its listener and have you mesmerized by the riveting production and augmented and passionate vocals. The vocal delivery created this melancholic vibe of romance and poetic like atmosphere. The best way to listen to “Lonely”? Close your eyes, allow yourself to roam freely inside the music and you will feel the sensations from every corner of the record. I personally love elevated music that triggers my emotions, thoughts, and feelings, and keeps me captivated by each chord and each lyric. Their most ambitious and poignant single up to date, Echoglass completely captures the moment in “Lonely”. Listen to "Lonely" here and check out our exclusive interview with Echoglass below! Welcome to Buzzmusic Echoglass! What has been the most monumental moment in your career so far? How has the journey been? We love making music. It’s fantastic when someone listens to your song and it connects with them. When it somehow resonates with their feelings, helps them in some way or even just gets a toe tapping! That it for us. That’s what it’s all about. Have to say though that when Stories from the North EP peaked 200,000 streams on Spotify we were both thrilled and amazed. That might be the pinnacle! Who knows! What would you consider some main challenges you face as a band and in what ways do you overcome these obstacles? Just getting heard. We only play a very small number of live gigs, and these days live is important to getting your music out there. That said, it’s also much easier to take an idea, scale it up and have your music available all over the world via streaming services. So we just dive in, make music we enjoy, get it out there and hope one or two others might enjoy it. That’s really what Indie is and always was about ; doing what is right for you and seeing if someone, somewhere wants to hear it. Your song “Lonely” was beautiful. What was the inspiration behind this record? Thanks so much. That’s very kind! The song was written on piano and acoustic and was one of those wonderful moments that just flowed. Probably took 20 minutes to write and then a while longer to get the sound right! Influence? Experience. Enough said! What was the most challenging aspect in creating “Lonely” and how did you make it look so effortless? Well the lyrics and music sort of just flowed. But the studio work and trying to create that haunted, eerie sound was the hard work. We wanted a song that spoke for itself and didn’t sound over-produced, but also had this very dark, sad feel to it. Real broken hearted angst. Hopefully we got it somewhere close. What’s next for you? In the studio. Looking at a release at the end of the summer that takes us back to some of our Indie roots. Thrashing guitars and Hammond organs. We’ve also signed a publishing deal for some of our music that is likely to find its way into something on the screen, but can’t say what it will be yet, sorry! We’ve also been inspired by the work Alan McGee is doing with his new Creation 23 label; bands playing real music and releasing on vinyl. So we are working on a project that will see one of our favorite tracks on vinyl. Should be interesting. Keep up with Echoglass through social media! www.instagram.com/echoglassmusic #BuzzMusic

  • Zea Sy Releases The Electrifying Hit, “Been With You”

Zea Sy grew up singing and writing music at a young age while listening to artists like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and tons of church music. The love she had for rock n roll started young and it morphed with time as she did. She traveled with her mom to numerous countries including South Africa, and Malawi at a young age, learning about the culture, stereotypes, and what it means to be who you are. This exposure helped shape the foundation upon which her music would lie. Being a black woman in a genre that doesn’t have many POC has had its challenges but it has also been the stage for conversations that may have never happened. Her goal as an artist is to help those she comes in contact with to never have a mid-life crisis. Zea Sy released her latest single titled “Been With You” and it's a perfectly crafted rock n roll tune with a significant amount of attitude and a fiery approach that keeps us on edge! “Been With You” pulls from the likes of Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin through Zea Sy's powerhouse female vocals. “Been With You” has a moment in the song where it showcases this electrifying instrumental solo, taking you on a radical journey through guitar rhythms and striking chords from each strum. Zea Sy’s intricate voice undergoes iconic belts and entices its listener. “Been With You” is a multitude of rock n roll dimensions that makes this a timeless badass hit! Listen to "Been With You" here and read more below in our exclusive interview with Zea Sy! Welcome to BuzzMusic Zea Sy! In what ways has your upbringing impacted your style of music today? I grew up in dc until I was 11 then my mom (who worked for USAID) got a job in Africa. That transition was so tough for me as I was an only child and it was just her and I. But that move changed my life. It really forced to me accept and want to understand culture and why people do and believe what they do. Anyway I ended up having a really bad accident playing golf  over there (used to want to be a pro golfer) of all things and had to have surgery. I got super depressed because they had to shave all my hair off and I had a ton of scars (which I still have to this day) and I just felt like a pariah and my mom decided to do something extraordinary. She took 3 months off work and we did an around the world trip; just her and I. I didn't want to go because I thought I looked so terrible, but the experience during that trip changed my life. Not only was every country incredible but she showed me how blessed I am, and sometimes getting out of your own head and not caring what others thought about you was more important that missing the lessons and beauty of life. This is one of the reasons I have my hair shaved because I WANT to show those scars! When I was in the hospital all I listened to was Evanescence's Bring me back to life and as dramatic as that sounds it really helped me. But it also really made me realized how much I loved more of a heavier sound. When I came back to America, I graduated from uni and I moved to Orlando fl. Being down there I really honed in on my craft and played in multiple bands and cover bands doing lots of classic rock music; it just solidified my love for it. Something I’ve learned too is to not react to people who are racist towards me... it can be tough doing rock n roll as a black woman. I hear some mean things and I have to think... this might be the only God someone sees and it could be a teaching moment over adding fuel to the fire. How would you describe your songwriting approach when creating the perfect song? I have been writing since I was a little one. I studied a lot of literature and poetry in college. And now I write A LOT of songs. Mainly in the car to be honest. Thank God for the voice memo app. Sometimes I just have an idea and words that go with it. Sometimes I write the melody and lyrics at the same time. I know a lot of people don’t do that but it helps me get it out. It honestly just depends on the situation. I wrote a song called “I QUIT” which will come out this year; wrote that having just quit a crappy first LA job. Were there any specific arrangements in “Been With You”? What was the major theme of this single? No, I just know I wanted it to be a rock n roll tune. My husband just went in and shredded. BEEN WITH YOU stemmed from a time of being wholly alone to fully engulfed in another soul; gaining additional love while self still exists. I’ve had so many relationships where I disappeared in the relationship. It wasn’t balanced and I didn’t stand up for myself. Never again. I also think who you are with really matters too, duh! How does “Been With You” represent Zea Sy as an artist? Been with you is my Rock baby. Rock n roll is truly the style of music I want to do. I grew up listening to classics then added more of a modern flare to what I was listening too. I honestly listen to so many different types /styles of music. I recorded the vocals for this song once! I’ve never done that before. For me it kept the song natural, raw, bold, and unapologetic; which is what rock n roll is for me. What’s next for you? I am going to be releasing a lot more songs. One of my favorites is called HONESTY. It’s very emotional, poetic, and just a story. Oh and I QUIT is coming out soon too. Pretty excited. • NEW MUSIC: Debut Single “Two Years” From The Stereo-Tips

Meeting in highschool and making music together for over 10 years, Elad Ovadia Eyni and Or Vengle created The Stereo-Tips.  The duo's music is made of catchy leading electric guitar and instrumental elements, but also features unanticipated song developments. The Stereo-Tips developed a unique sound that draws heavily from Britpop, Alternative & Indie Rock. Since relocating to the US, they have focused on writing, composing, and producing in their home studio. The Stereo-Tips concept is based on "Story-Telling", where they present the story of the "Kingdom-Garden". Being the duo's vision over the years, the "Kingdom-Garden" has taken shape and evolved into an inspiring world conveying mystery via musical experience and visual arts. The Stereo-Tips debut single “Two Years” has been about four years in the making. The track is laced with storytelling elements that are proof of the time, heart and soul that was put into creating it. With a contemporary alternative rock sound, The Stero-Tips use their 10 years experience and obvious chemistry to weave through expert guitar, catchy riffs and pummeling vocals. The duo showcases their multi skill-set through the layers or instrumentals and finely-tuned vocals through “Two Years”. I’d love to know more about the inspiration behind a song that has been anticipated for this long. Initially written in 2015 as a love song, it has evolved and matured through Elad's personal development over the years. Describing hurting love, lack of trust and "holding on", "Two Years" is the product of a lost love story which enabled massive growth, setting the stage to new beginnings and fresh starts. Overall, we love The Stereo-Tips and their eclectic new sound and addition to alt-rock music scene! Check out “Two Years” here and keep scrolling for an exclusive interview with The Stereo-Tips. Hey Elad and Or! Welcome back! Let’s talk about your debut single “Two Years”. What’s the meaning behind the lyrics? With every song we write, we tell a story. It can be from personal experience, someone else's, or fictional, but it always has more than meets the eye (well.. ear). This song came to mind four years ago. In the first place, this song was written as a love song, and it has evolved and matured through my (Elad) personal development over the years. On first hearing, you could say it describes hurting love, lack of trust and "holding on".  So yeah... "Two Years" is a product of a lost love story that stages new beginnings and fresh starts. However, from a different perspective, in relation to the "Kingdom-Garden", this song is the first act. It is describing longings between a mother and her child as a duet. How do your musical influences inspire your sound? They taught us how to be raw. We think it comes from bands like Muse and Oasis (especially in their early years), which didn't try to please anyone with their sound. Albums such as "Be Here Now" gave access to a more modern and free guitar sounds. A way to incorporate high-gain guitars with more approachable sounds. Over the years, we learned so much from other productions. One of the significant ones was "Oracular Spectacular" by MGMT, which inspired the use of synths and some interesting effects use on vocals. These kinds of influences helped us to create characters and display them through production with some sorts of effects. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? We wish to inspire, motivate, encourage creativity, and to get through to our listeners. Besides that, we hope to arouse curiosity in our listeners with the story of the "Kingdom-Garden and the way we present it (Artworks, Posts, Website, etc...). Bottom line, have fun! How has your sound developed and changed over the many years you’ve been composing together? It matured. We went from first steps in music and playing in high school bands, to having a home studio and producing by ourselves. To be in control of what we want to sound like, or what sounds good to us. Do you have any upcoming shows or events you’d like to talk about? We are going to have our second single in September! -  you heard it here first ;) Keep up with The Stereo-Tips through their socials! • Kali Wilde Releases “Big Energy” Just In Time To Set The Theme For This Summer

Pop newcomer Kali Wilde is making noise in the music industry in a big way. Her contagious, fun and relatable music is creating connections with her fans in the most authentic ways. Kali Wilde is here to make people feel empowered to be unapologetically themselves. Los Angeles native Kali Wilde started playing piano at age three and songwriting at age ten. Despite being the only musician in her family, Kali always loved pop music but it wasn't until 2016 that she truly began to study and understand it while collaborating with others throughout LA. After two years of developing her sound she was able to bring her vision to life. Her music is refreshing mainstream pop with hints of contemporary R&B, electro, and indie-pop sounds. “Big Energy” was released late June 2019 and it’s an empowering pop anthem by Kali Wilde that we can’t get enough of. Kali shows off her insane vocal register through her highs and lows and spectacular tones. Whether she’s weaving through catchy verses or the addicting hook, Kali’s powerhouse vocals remain strong over top of the heavy backbeat. “Big Energy” is a track all about how mesmerizing Kali Wilde is. “I’ve got big energy, possibilities, all your bad vibes don’t bring around me” is a great lyric because Kali is confident in herself and spreads that contagious energy outwards. She doesn’t want anyone with negative energy around her because she won’t let that slow her down. It’s so important for young woman in the music industry to spread positivity like Kali Wilde does in “Big Energy”. We welcome this budding songstress into the BuzzMusic Family with open arms and we can’t wait to see what she delivers next! Check out “Big Energy” here and read more below in our exclusive interview with Kali! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Your voice is beautiful, how long have you been singing for? Thank you so much! I started playing piano as a young child and always loved composing my own songs on it. At age nine I wrote some lyrics to one of these songs and learned to sing so I could perform it for people. What got you started in music? My parents were avid music listeners and always had a wide range of music blasting throughout the house. According to them, I started banging away at the household piano as soon as I could walk. Over time I learned that I could play by ear and spent most of my time writing my own renditions of these songs because I didn’t have the attention span to learn how to read music.  These renditions led me to songwriting, which I’ve been doing ever since. What’s the meaning behind the lyrics of “Big Energy”? What do you want your listeners to take away from it? I was in a toxic relationship that brought out the worst in me. He was my first love and I didn’t realize how much his jealous nature drained my energy until I finally got the strength to walk away.  The lyrics of Big Energy are about that feeling you get when you become happy and confident again after freeing yourself from toxicity.  I know so many people who are so scared to make changes in their lives because they don’t see that things can be better and are willing to settle.  I want listeners to take away a sense of empowerment after listening to this song.  Everybody deserves to feel good about their lives and who they are.  If something is blocking that, tell it “move outta my way”.  Never settle for less than the best version of yourself. Can you give your fans any hints at what you might be doing next? Well I’m a huge summer girl, so let’s just say that I’m not letting summer come to an end without releasing something else to sing along to while driving down the street with the windows rolled down, soaking up the sun.  I am also excited to show a more raw and vulnerable side of Big Energy, so fans can expect something a bit more stripped down in the near future. • Marshall Poole Takes Its Listener On A Thought-Provoking Exploration With “So It Goes

Marshall Poole is a band of classically trained musicians who consist of the artists Melanie, Rider, Seth, and Michael. They collaborate within multiple projects of the Boise music scene including singer/bassist Melanie who is a rotating bassist for indie legends to built to spill. They weave multiple genres and techniques together; psychedelic instrumentals with southern rock songs and heavy riffs with intricate synth melodies. Marshall Poole released their single titled “So It Goes” and this energetic and exhilarating record will have you on edge consistently throughout the entire song. Their vocals were eclectic and the instrumental playing was electrifying. You instantly grasp this adrenaline rush and you’re pumped up while elevating your mood through higher dimensions of each chord! The blooming guitar strumming was on point! It was progressive rock n roll while still having a refreshing youth to it. What I loved so much about “So It Goes” was the multiple transitions in dynamics and even melodies. One minute they’re up-tempo, fast-paced, and chaos, the other moment they’re highly electric, showcasing the grit in their style, but then they turn soft, more riveting, and more poetic. The lyrics during the poetically driven aspect of the song was super mesmerizing. The delivery of it will become unforgettable. “How can you change the world if you can’t change yourself” was a powerful message, and enlightened the listener into a thought-provoking concept. Marshall Poole hands down just turned us into a fan! And we’re excited to see what’s next under their sleeve. Listen to “So It Goes” here and get to know more about Marshall Poole below! Thank you for joining us Marshall Poole! What’s the history behind the cool band name? How did you come up with it? Rider (guitarist) and Michael (drummer) were the first version of MP so during the conception of the band, they decided to give the band a personified name. The idea actually came from a street sign in Caldwell, ID (where the band was formed) - Marshall Place. So they changed the last part to "Poole" and that was it. What are some challenges you may face in the creation process of your music? In the past, our songs were formed by me [Melanie] or Rider bringing fully fleshed-out songs to the table and then everyone added their ideas to it. However, since creating this new album 'Pasadena', we've become 100% collaborative in the writing process. Now we each bring bits and pieces of riffs, melodies, chord changes, grooves, etc. and we find ways to put them together. It's been amazing to see our songs form because all four of our personalities come out in full force so the challenge is figuring out how to piece our ideas together into a cohesive sound, like a "collage". We love this challenge and have been able to sound more like us because of it. How do you manage to fuse together four personalities into one style and sound? By using clear communication and trusting one another. While listening to “So It Goes”, it seems this song had a strong lyrical message that needed to be heard. Mind detailing the theme of this song? Rider wrote the lyrics. Here is his personal response: It can be hard to pinpoint what some songs mean to everyone. To me, "So It Goes" is generally about dissatisfaction with things the way they are. I feel like I lay out problems in the verses that don't really have a solution. The refrain of "So It Goes" is basically saying that sometimes you just have to keep chugging along. In the spoken word section, I feel that the questions posed are not only me talking to an audience, but also me talking to myself. How could you hope to change the world with all of its complexities and situations out of your control if you can't change the one thing you have some degree of control of? You may not be able to change a situation, but you can certainly change your attitude towards it. Any exciting upcoming performances Marshall Poole? Yes! We have a couple tours coming up. Here are the dates: 7/25 - Salt Lake City, UT - Diabolical Records 7/26 - Denver, CO - Underground Music Showcase - Main Stage @ 4:20pm 7/27 - Denver, CO - Underground Music Showcase - Denver Drumz @ 6pm 7/28 - Grand Junction, CO - Baron's Bar 8/8 - Moscow, ID - The Bayou 8/10 - Olympia, WA - Pig Bar 8/11 - Portland, OR - Rontom's 8/16 - Boise, ID - The Olympic 8/20 - Boise, ID - Humpin' Hannah's Connect with Marshall Poole on social media www.instagram.com/marshallpo_ole www.twitter.com/marshallpo_ole #BuzzMusic

  • A Raw Lyricist With An Aggressive Delivery, H6Z100 In “100”

H6Z100 is a lyrical assassin who grew up in the 90’s hip-hop era & has seen the evolution that has taken place. He’s been heavily influenced by artists such as Nas, Eminem, 2pac, Biggie Smalls, and more. He’s the real deal who story tells. He drops bars, not hits! H6Z100 released his single titled “100” and although he claims he doesn’t aim to create hits, it’s just something that naturally occurs. Especially with a single like “100”, H6Z100 could potentially doubt the amount of potential he actually has. Not only is he a lyricist, but he also has the mainstream appeal and sound that will leave you breathless. His delivery is hard-hitting while his flow is impeccable. He gives you this aggressive punch with each bar seeding into your brain because the lyrics are purely raw and bonafide. There’s not a lot of rappers like H6Z100 whose out right now and this gives him a major advantage. There’s a significant amount of swag and mumble rappers, but who is going to give us punchlines? The rapid deliveries? The energy? At this rate, seems like H6Z100 is one of the only doing it at the moment! And if he isn’t? Well, we can guarantee that his level of skills and the caliber at which he is upheld at will become beneficial to him as an artist in the game. Listen to “100” here and get to know more about H6Z100 below! What’s up H6Z100! Mind telling us a bit about your background? Where are you from? First off I’m from a small town in Michigan. Ypsilanti,Mi the home of Dominoes pizza and Eastern Michigan University. I was raised in a great town by loving parents that were deeply involved in the church I was kind of a smart guy in school that converted to street life in my older years and got into music seriously in my teenage years Considering you grew up a big hip-hop head, what’s your opinion on the current state of rap music in today’s generation? In what ways does it impact your artistry and sound? I feel like the current state of the rap game with this new wave is full of talent. The downfall is I think that its misleading to the youth because of all the negative topics spoken of in song with no content of greatness that can be revealed. For the most part I’m not saying all artist do this just most of the content is negative but even with that being said it’s a lot of talent out here nowadays. Where was the majority of it filmed? Thank you! I had a lot of fun making it. The video was filmed in Santa Barbara, Venice Beach, and San Diego, California over 3 days. There is  footage from Costa Rica in there as well. What inspired this song? So many things. Like a lot of others, I’ve had a some tough times, and it’s not as rough anymore. I’m happy to be on the better side of my years. I drew from the energy and experience of living in Costa Rica during the high season for seven years,  and all the amazing people that became my family down there. The surfing, diving, swimming, festivals, and fellowship. The song pretty much wrote itself while I was down there playing shows up and down the coast. The hook  came out of nowhere and it just caught on. Anytime I played it, the audience would always pick up on the melody and sing along by the end of the song. That’s when I knew it was a winner. How did you get started in music? How old were you when you realized it was your passion? I first wanted to play guitar when I was 7 but my dad bought me a really cheap unplayable acoustic and a Mel Bay book and sent me to my room. So, there was no real inspiration. Eventually, when I was 13 or 14 years old, I met this punk rocker named “Bubba” who showed me a power chord and  a Metallica song called “The Small Hours” off of Garage Days Revisited and “Anarchy In The UK” which was a Sex Pistols song,  I was hooked! I started getting into heavy fast guitar shred music from punk rock to Pantera and everything in between. Joe Satriani always blew my mind with his wide range of sound and I just loved heavy fast music in general. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Pantera were my main guitar influences. I couldn’t stand glam rock like Poison, Motley Crue, and other hair bands. They just didn’t have the sound I was looking for. When I was around 17 years old I started a band with some guys in the neighborhood and we used to play small venues around town. I knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. From an artist’s standpoint, what do you think is the most visually appealing part in your music video for “GrAttitude”? Troy did such a great job that I can’t easily answer that question. Any part that doesn’t have me in it. LOL. The extreme sports shots, the part where Troy is in there kicking it with the kids from Africa, the guy diving off the cliff. Man, there are so many great shots. I love the energy on Venice Beach, so any of the shots from there are right on time. Skydiving with my brother Jared. But most of all, the part where I was finally able to hand my brother the skateboard from when I broke his years ago. That was a sentimental part for me personally. I broke his Natas board back in the day and was finally able to return a new one to him. I built it from scratch as you can see in the video as well. Who are your biggest musical influences? Too many to list, but I’d have to say James Hetlfield, Dimebag Darrell, Joe Satriani, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Muse, John Mayer, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Trevor Hall, and Mike Love. The list is endless, but I can tell you that I just appreciate anyone who is trying to raise the vibration of the human race! What’s next for you? I’m working on my next single and shooting a new video. I am constantly traveling and performing all over the country for the largest art dealer in the world with my entertainment company.  I am working on a guitar teaching method that will enable students to master their instrument blindfolded. It’s like kung fu for guitar. You can find it at www.fretfu.com. I am also working on my non-profit movementofmusic.org. I started this non-profit to inspire kids  to pick up a music instruments instead of videogame controllers! Stay on the lookout for what MiRage delivers next! Check out “Celebration” here and read more with MiRage in our interview below. Hey MiRage! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourself and telling us how you got started making music? My name is MiRage which is a play on letters from my birth name. I'm from East LA. I started off doing spoken word and poetry, but have been doing music a little under a year. Me and my homie BrownSugaBeats were only supposed to record one song, which is now turning into an entire project and from there on I've been working on music non-stop. Can you dive into more details of the lyricism in “Celebration"? Celebration is an ode to Fridays, which to the everyday working class person is a time to celebrate. There's a reference to Fridays in the beginning of the first to verses It's Friday after work and you got nothing to do and Remember Friday nights as a kid watching Smackdown. The lyrics represent celebration and that is followed by the hook it's a celebration no one dying tonight/ tonight the stars in the hood are shinning real bright. Who are your musical influences? How do you draw inspiration from them? I have so many musical influences, but to name a few I would say Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Malo, and Los Golden Boys. East LA also has an Oldies culture so that's also a huge inspiration. These artists write stories in there songs so my inspiration to captivate a certain vibe or feel definitely comes from there. How do you feed your passion for music everyday? I work a a 9-5 and as soon as I get home I work on music or anything music related. The limited time I have to create and make something worth listening to is what feeds my passion. I study videos, lyrics, performances everywhere I go so I never stop learning. All those things plus my determination to get better everyday fuels my direction in music. How does your culture help to establish who you are as an artist? My culture helps me ground my values and allows me to respect certain aspects in life. Latin culture is known for being expressive and vibrant whether its having a good time or honoring the dead. As an artist I throw in verses or word that identify with my culture; I'm just sharing it in a different art form.
