- Kuhr Releases The Staggering and Breathtaking Hit, “Superior”
Kuhr is a lo-fi chill hip-hop producer and recording artist mixing a sentimental and bittersweet feeling into the songs he makes. We took a listen to his record titled “Superior” and it began with a theatrical and aromatic beginning, before the unique beat transitions in and the soft-like and incomparable vocals by Kuhr comes in. “Superior” is an interesting song due to how unique and captivating it is for us as listeners. I would be lying if I said I heard a song this circumstantial and complete. I’m a personal fan of atmospheric music. Songs that just seize the moment, capture you, and helps you forget about the outside world and everything around you. This specific sensation is heightened in “Superior” and we loved it. You’re apart of the song. Intertwined with every vibration, lyric, and component to the record. On my Spotify playlists, I have something for every mood I'm in. my climatic playlists are something I truly cherish. They’re emotionally and mentally healing, and just a breath of fresh air. “Superior” fits right into this category as the radiation of divergence just takes over. Kuhr should not be slept on, and we are wide awake on what this producer/creator can deliver. He doesn’t categorize himself in a genre, and he attempts to achieve something different every time he’s in his creative space. Give a listen to Kuhr's latest track here, and continue reading for the artists personalized interview with BuzzMusic! Hey Kuhr! Mind telling our readers a bit about where you’re from and your upbringing? I grew up in Fairfax, Virginia to a first-generation Korean-American father and a Caucasian mother, with an older brother and a younger sister. Growing up, we lived with my Korean-side grandmother who made sure we kept our Korean roots by partaking in traditions. We were naturally a close-knit family, making an effort to always spend time with extended family. When I felt my calling for music, I moved to Nashville, Tennessee for college and to pursue my own music career. What inspired you to pursue music? When did you first realize that this was something you were meant to do? My first exposure to creating music was in fourth grade when I took up the cello. To me, it was the perfect instrument to start out with. Being classically-trained from a young age ultimately helped me out when later I first started producing. And although at first I sounded like a dying cow - as my mother says - I really enjoyed it and it taught me the patience to not just practice, but to "practice perfect." It wasn't until around 8th grade, when I started learning music software such as Logic, that I realized this was something I could really devote myself to in life. What’s the most challenging aspect of producing? I think the most challenging aspect of producing isn't so much the actual producing, so much as it is my habit of tweaking as I go. The audio engineer in me is a bit of a perfectionist and I often get caught up mixing something I just added and this can slow the process. If I spend hours just tweaking the sound of a guitar or how much compression the kick drum needs, I lose focus on what else could be added to the production. I have gotten much better about it from when I started, learning that it is ok that it doesn't sound perfect in its first drafts and that it will come together with time. Listening to “Superior” was almost inconceivable. What was the theme and vision you had for this record? Superior was one of my favorite tracks to write so far, both production and lyrics. I wanted to capture a bittersweet feeling I have about life; that I appreciate where I am now, and how far I've come from what I used to be. In life, we are all bound to experience much beauty and equally much pain - but from these experiences we come out better versions of ourselves. For "Superior," I never wanted it to sound explicitly sad or too happy so it could reflect this idea in particular - that life is full of balance. How do you plan on elevating your next song from something so phenomenal as “Superior”? Really, I plan to just keep creating for the sake of creating. I care more about putting out something I am happy to share and to not just meet deadlines by rushing myself. Some of my best work has come out of allowing myself to freely create, play around with ideas, and just experiment. I often go out of my 'comfort-zone' and try to challenge myself by working with artists in genres that I am not as familiar in and this opens a lot of possibilities. Can you start by telling us more about your upbringing and how you got started in hip-hop? I grew up listening to Hip Hop music and watched a lot of music videos growing up. When I was about 8, I started writing music and said I would be a rapper. By the time I was a sophomore in high school, I thought I would like being a producer way better and I did for awhile. But then I began recording a few songs after college and people around me encouraged me to do both. Who are some of your musical influences? How do they help shape your sound? As an Artist, I would say Jay-Z, J. Cole, and LL Cool J are major influences on my style. As a producer Drumma Boy, Dr. Dre, and Timbaland are my musical influences on the production side. I study Cole, Jay, and LL the most because they have a style that I admire and can see myself in those styles. As far as production, I studied Drumma Boy the most in the early stages of me starting to make beats. I learned a lot about arrangement, and dynamics in a song just by listening to his production. What’s the meaning behind your lyrics in “You Got That”? What inspired this song? The meaning behind the lyrics in “You Got That” is basically finally getting the woman you’ve been wanting and you both are taking things to an intimate level. The inspiration behind the song came to me two years ago during an intimate night with my girlfriend at the time. What's the overall theme of your EP “Goals”? The theme behind Goals is inspiring people to actually set and accomplish whatever they put their minds to. Whether it be relationship goals, goals to make them a better person or the biggest thing I mention throughout the project which is quitting their job to follow their dreams. This project has something for almost everyone to be motivated by. What’s next for you? Putting on shows with my crew “YAL,” as well as my own shows, working on new music for myself, and producing for artist like Mr. Wade, Can, RichDaPitt, and many more. Plus I will be posting more beats to my website for artist to purchase. I’m also looking to work with other dope artists as well, let's work. - NEW MUSIC RADAR: South For Winter Release Bluesy Folk Anthem “Ten Black Crows”
Fusing elements of blues, jazz, folk and gypsy music, South For Winter was formed in September 2017 by New Zealander Nick Stone, Coloradan Dani Cichon, and Michigander Alex Stradal. The trio quickly dug their heels into the Nashville music scene, releasing two EPs and completing both a 15-state national tour, followed by an international tour to Canada all in one year!. South for Winter are now recording their debut album in Nashville with Grammy-nominated producer Matt Leigh of The Tracking Room. The second single off of their debut album,“Ten Black Crows” is laced with South For Winter’s well-known hypnotizing vocals, sultry guitar riffs, and pummeling drum kit. The gypsy jazz anthem “Ten Black Crows” weaves through elements of contemporary rock while still staying consistent with the Nashville based collectives powerhouse blues sound. Alluring smokey vocals and whimsical melodies take over the speakers while the soulful lyricism take the listener on a genre-bending journey. Near the conclusion of “Ten Black Crows”, South For Winter’s explosive and upbeat delivery completely changes the sultry yet melancholic theme and acts as a powerful encore to already killer track. South For Winter has outdone themselves again and we can’t wait for their new album! Stay on the lookout for this eclectic group! Check out the brand new single “Ten Black Crows” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey South For Winter! Welcome back! What have you been up to since your last release of “Twine”? (Alex): Thanks so much! Since the release of Twine, we've pretty much been going all-out with the writing and recording of our debut album. And all three of us are still working full-time haha so it's been a crazy last few months. (Nick): There's been a lot of rewriting and pre-production on the songs leading up to the recording phase. We'd mostly self-produced our music previously, so having a new set of ears with our producer Matt Leigh has been incredible - and terrifying haha, since all three of us are musical perfectionists and it can be hard to release artistic control. But we love the ideas he's brought in and the time we've had in the studio has been unbelievable. We're blown away with how the songs are coming along! We love your new single “Ten Black Crows”! What is the meaning behind the lyrics? What was the writing process like? (Dani): Thank you, we're so glad! I'd had a pop cowrite one week with a song that had a "wild West"-type theme, and I guess that concept was stuck in my head. I was out for a walk one day and had the idea for the chorus - "Ten black crows, circling overhead, 'Any final words?' Is what the hangman said.'" I went home and sang it to Nick, he immediately played that great bluesy guitar lick you hear in the verses, and they just fit together perfectly. (Nick): That main guitar lick was originally part of an old instrumental I'd written years ago. Actually, a number of riffs from that instrumental have become songs on our upcoming album! Co-writing with Dani has brought many old ideas back to life. Her melodies help direct the chord progressions, and vice-versa with my riffs. Also, I love a good tempo change in a song, and Ten Black Crows does just that - going from a swampy groove to a knee-slapping good time. For me, it makes the song a lot of fun to perform live, and for the audience it's an unexpected change that kinda pulls you in and takes you for a spin. (Dani) By the way, Ten Black Crows is a super dark song lyrically - it's a murder ballad about an 1800's outlaw robbing trains and bringing these "ten black crows" of death with him until he finds himself face-to-face with a hangman's noose and the same ten black crows, now spelling out his own fate. When we first wrote it, we really thought no one would like it because it's got all these tempo changes and is a song about death haha - but for some reason, every time we played it live, people stopped what they were doing to listen and would later tell us it was their favorite song of ours. It's a true testament to how you never know what people will like! Who are your musical influences? How do you draw from them for inspiration? (Nick): We have so many influences for our music, and that's probably why it's so eclectic. As a guitarist I've always loved the loose swag of Jimmy Page, the technicality and emotive bending of David Gilmore, the voracity and finger-picking style of Lindsey Buckingham! In more recent years I have found influence in artists such as Ben Howard, Shakey Graves and Jose Gonzalez. (Alex): I'm a punk-rock guy, so it was fun to go back to my roots with this song and play more palm-muted guitar and chugging, driving cello parts. The squeal I played on cello just before the rhythm change was also definitely inspired by "Devil Went Down to Georgia." (Dani): Lyrically, my influences were Barton Hollow by the Civil Wars, Bottom of the River by Delta Rae, and Ghostriders in the Sky by Johnny Cash. What overall theme can your fans expect from your much anticipated new album? (Dani): That every single song will sound entirely different from the last one haha. Our next single's an incredibly happy, mandolin-driven stomp-clap track. (Nick): What I love about working with our producer, Matt Leigh, is his ability to transform our sound to reach its maximum potential while still maintaining who we are at the forefront. On this debut album you can expect to hear a full, matured, developed sound. Although we've made this album a little more electric than previous releases, it still maintains its folk/Americana roots with an emphasis on poetic lyrics, acoustic instrumentation, strong harmonies and swelling cello. (Alex): I agree with Nick - this album is still very much us an acoustic trio, but it feels like we finally have the tools and the producer to fully realize our vision. Our lyrical imagery tends to be very vivid in our songs, and for the album we've focused on creating an equally vivid soundscape to match that. Can we have a hint at a title or release date of your upcoming album? (Dani): We're still debating the title, but the album release will be in early 2020. (Alex): The third single will definitely be out by this October though (right before we tour to the West Coast for the first time), so keep that on the radar! - Svea Is Showing Us Her "Bold" Side With Recent Single Release
Attending Berklee College of Music, transforming artist Svea is using her knowledge and experience to integrate and blend together stories within her music. Svea surrounds herself with a positive and uplifting community, and you can feel that type of honest energy merged into her production. Svea has lived a hectic life, and gathers that eccentric energy, twisting it to her advantage to create a noteworthy lyrical execution. Svea's vocal production in "Bold" is raw and rustic. Her sound is unique--each element of her voice blends with each other so incredibly well, curating a sound that is innocent, yet strong, and harmonious, yet aggressive with the execution. Svea's voice melts into your ears like actual silk in "Bold". She definitely has one of those voices that were meant to sing and captivate listeners while doing it. Svea is angelic in every way possible, and we know that we definitely found our new artist obsession of the week after giving a listen to "Bold"! We're 10/10 keeping an eye out for Svea's music, and we highly recommend you get on track with the new wave of Svea. Discover Svea's "Bold" here, and continue reading for Svea's interview! Hello Svea! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We're excited to be featuring your music on our platform! Can you tell our readers a little bit about yourself as an artist? Hello, and thank you! I am so excited to be featured on your platform too, and okay a little bit about me. I am an indie-pop artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am vegan and love to make vegan chocolate cake from time to time. My favorite part about writing songs is sharing them with others and building a connection through shared emotions and experiences. The first song I wrote was when I was 13 about a boy I was too shy to talk to, and seven years later, I am still writing those types of songs. What were the most impactful lyrics in your opinion for "Bold"? "So I hope you'll come back the next day, hope that my heart won't stop baby, oh, and I will not forget how to breath when you look at me, look at me baby, baby, look at me, look at me, stop me in my tracks baby." It's the bridge of the song. When I sing it I go back to the feeling of trying to talk to someone I'm attracted to, and how fast my heart and mind races. Would you say that your music is a large reflection of your personal and private experiences? Of course! All my music is a direct reflection of my personal and private experiences. Songs to me are like dreams and memories that I weave with music. They are super personal even if they are not songs about myself. Can you tell us more about the creative process behind "Bold"? Yeah! I met the producer of the song, Kyle Burke, at LASC (Los Angeles Songwriters Collective). He had these four chords on an electric guitar, and I wrote over them. Bold was a song that came to me without much effort. I think I wrote lyrics and melody in a little under 40 minutes and then the rest of it was working on vocals. I wanted them to be as raw as possible, no auto-tune. Kyle worked on all of the production, and he got it. It is a pretty universal feeling, feeling nervous to talk to someone cute. I was in the process of moving to Boston to go to Berklee College of Music, and therefore, there wasn't much time at all for revision, but I'm happy with the final product. What are some things we can look forward to hearing from you in the near future? My next single, Freckles is coming out in September, and then I am planning an EP release after that! - Check Out “Quiet Bones” By Up And Coming Canadian Artist SIESKI
West Coast born, Toronto based artist SIESKI is reflecting her love of piano and storytelling through her dramatic ballads. This singer/songwriter/pianist creates moody alternative music with elements of indie folk undertones. Effortlessly pulling inspiration from legendary influences like Regina Spektor, Feist, Aldous Harding and Florence + The Machine, SIESKI adds her own authentic style to craft her unique sound. SIESKI holds a BFA in theatre from York University, and is now a budding artist in Toronto’s music scene since the release of her debut EP “Dreamist”. SIESKI’s piano ballad “Quiet Bones” off of her debut EP “Dreamist” features sultry piano and soft angelic vocals. “Quiet Bones” tells a haunting melancholic story that gives us a retrospective look inside of SIESKI’s emotive poetry. Simplistic yet stunningly diverse, “Quiet Bones” can be interpreted in different ways. SIESKI’s undeniably talented songwriting ability allows her to establish strong connections with her fans. To me, “Quiet Bones” tells a story of losing yourself to the point of isolation until all you are left with is your empty, silent shell. SIESKI’s vocals are alluring and draw you in and demand to be heard despite their comfortable softness. We love what we’ve heard from SIESKI so far! Stay on the lookout for this Canadian songstress! Check out “Quiet Bones” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Can you start by telling us how you got started in the music industry? Music has always run deep in my veins. Being raised by artists on the West Coast, BC, my love and appreciation for music making was sparked at a young age. My parents are both professional composers/musicians who first introduced me to the piano. Growing up in this environment, I learned and explored art-making through singing, music, theatre and dance. I drew inspiration from each medium, fell in love with creating and performing, and knew that it was what I wanted to pursue. I originally moved to Toronto to study theatre, and after completing my BFA in Acting from York University, I focused my energy back in to music. I wanted to share a piece of myself. So, I wrote, arranged and recorded my independent debut EP, ‘Dreamist,’ in December of 2018, and released it in March of 2019. Since then, I’ve been performing as a solo artist, and collaborating in both the theatre and music scenes in Toronto. Where does your stage name some from? The name ‘SIESKI,’ pronounced ‘sea-ess-key,’ is a blend of my first and last name, Siena Dolinski. The sound of the name itself represents the sea, being from the West-Coast, and the keys of the piano. We love your song “Quiet Bones”! What is the meaning behind this track? What was the creation process like? ‘Quiet Bones’ is a song I wrote and recorded in a single day when I was back home in BC for the holidays. Thematically, the song is about a lost sense of self. It’s a reflective piece; a look at how someone grows, changes, and gains perspective after leaving their roots. Ultimately, it’s about feeling alone and uncertain of yourself, especially upon returning to a place where you were the person you used to be. I wrote ‘Quiet Bones’ in the final afternoon of recording the EP. I had already recorded the other four songs, and I sat down once again at the piano to play around and improvise. I found myself feeling introspective and acutely aware of my surroundings. It was raining. There was a warmth in the studio, but a slow, winter stillness around me. Outside the window, the sky was a bright grey, the ground was damp, and the trees were wet. All of these images inspired the song. I like to tell people that ‘Quiet Bones’ wrote itself. I think, as artists, we are open vessels. Through openness and vulnerability, creativity can flow through you like a wave. I felt as if ‘Quiet Bones’ came from the earth below me - I was simply the vessel in which the idea passed through. It was one of those magical experiences in which it felt like the art simply created itself. What is the overall theme of your debut EP “Dreamist”? ‘Dreamist’ is simple, intentional and honest. Artistically, I wanted this EP to represent my authentic sound through piano and voice. It is a collection of naked song-stories from a young woman’s mind, sitting somewhere between the moody-alternative and indie-folk realms. How do you draw inspiration from your diverse influences? Musically, I’m influenced by many artists under the alternative umbrella. One of the first bands I ever covered was Coldplay. I’ve always enjoyed the way they tell stories through the lyrics and strong melody writing. Other bands of influence are Arcade Fire, Young the Giant, and Death Cab for Cutie. As a player of the instrument, I love the incorporation of piano into tracks. I think artists like Regina Spektor and Sara Bareilles do this very well. In terms of performance and voice, Florence Welch and Lady Gaga are two of my favourites. Their ability to storytell and convey emotion is a huge inspiration. I also love aspects of the quirky, the unusual, and the offbeat that artists like Feist, Mirah and Imogen Heap bring to their music. - NEW MUSIC RADAR: KTM Tino Releases "Memphis Flow"
American hip/hop artist KTM Tino is the next artist up on our hip/hop radar. KTM Tino produces tracks that possess such a vibrancy to them, we feel as if we're pulsing with energy when playing his creations. KTM Tino has been passionate about almost anything he pursued in life, and there's no exception for when he begun curating music. KTM Tino makes curating verses effortless--the kind of flow he adopts in his music produces some serious heat. We're obsessing over the new album "Tino Turn That Heat Up" and we're hyped to introduce our favorite track on said album: "Memphis Flow". "Memphis Flow" has a hype that is undeniably addicting. Seriously - we've already played the track at least five times now this morning. A great work out or party track that will definitely make it to those energetic playlists. KTM Tino has a certain type of confidence in "Memphis Flow" that can't be fabricated. We feel the surging energy through the track, and appreciate that kind of flow KTM Tino provides. Without a doubt we can say that KTM Tino's production is completely error-free. The tracks programming is spot on, and we feel that "Memphis Flow" resonates with the rap/hip-hop music scene well. KTM Tino is creating music meant for that feel-good vibe. KTM Tino is projecting good vibes off of "Memphis Flow", and it's easily felt from a listeners point of view. Hard-hitting dynamic vocals on KTM Tino's part set the track apart from others we've recently heard. We're hyped, feeling eccentric and a little (a lot) bada** when listening to "Memphis Flow". Check out KTM Tino's "Memphis Flow" here, and keep scrolling. Hey KTM Tino! Tell our readers a bit about yourself as an artist! KTM Tino is just a man from North Mississippi who won’t let you forget it. I recorded my first single inside of a closet and now I’m just working hard to further build my platform and image. How did you first know the rap/hip-hop scene was for you? I knew I wanted to pursue music before I entered my teenage years. However, I realized hip-hop was my lane when me and a few friends of mine couldn’t stop getting in trouble in middle school for beating on the lunch table and free styling. I was also motivated even more by seeing other artists come from the same area I’m from with similar circumstances as mine be able to make a living and provide for their families by simply expressing themselves through their music. From that moment on, I instantly knew pursuing a rap career was for me. What inspired you to write "Memphis Flow"? How did you find the creative process for this track? My producer, Ace Charisma, inspired me to write “Memphis Flow”. Even though I’m not from Memphis, because I live so close to the city I am naturally influenced by that raw Memphis sound. Ace produced the song and from the moment I heard it, it lead me to copying Project Pat’s flow on the chorus. It was a smooth process because like all good music, it starts with a great producer and the beat for “Memphis Flow” just spoke to me. What's the most important message you're trying to communicate to your listeners in "Memphis Flow"? Memphis Flow is all about paying homage to those who paved a way for people like me. Without them I wouldn’t be here. What can we expect to see next from you as an artist? I will be releasing a new project real soon. I’ve been working hard to perfect my sound. My fans should expect a vast majority of growth and range in the songs. Although I haven’t named the project yet, I will be collaborating with a few other well-known artists and producers for this project so stay tuned. #BuzzMusic

Can you start by telling us more about yourself and how you got started making music? Hello! Thank you for having me. Well, my name is Antonio, I’m 24 years old and I was born and raised in Madrid. I started playing piano when I was 4. My parents wanted me to learn, I surely didn’t. Ten years later I started a band with my best friends from high school and that’s when I started having fun with it. That’s when I started writing my own songs. That band changed names and members except for my friend Javier Linares and me, we always stayed together. Two years ago we started a band called Flora Dance, with guitarist Marcos Soriano and drummer Rafa Moout. It’s with this band with whom I recorded If I Was A Bird and a few other songs, during last fall. But sadly, we ended up splitting up after recording the album. We split the songs from the album so I could keep the ones I had written. That’s when I chose the name Astro Fonda and decided to start my solo career. This happened three months ago. Who are your musical influences? How do inspire your sound? I’ve listened to a lot of music from the 60’s and the 70’s. The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Dylan, Bowie… I have a harder time finding modern bands that I really like, but there are some: Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Beach House, Fleet Foxes, The Tallest Man on Earth and I recently fell for 1,2 Kung Fu by Boy Azooga, what an album. But that’s not where I find inspiration though, I feel like if I listen to too much music I start loosing my own voice, so I try to find a balance. We loved your song “If I Was A Bird”! What inspired you to write this moving track? If I Was A Bird is a very special song to me, for many reasons. When I was 21 I spent a year in Chicago finishing my engineering studies and writing songs. When I came back to Madrid I started a Master on Electrical Engineering but I rapidly plunged into a deep crisis and I quit after just a month without a plan B. Suddenly I had nothing to do with my days and no plan whatsoever. That was a weird time. There were days when I felt great and free and others when the feeling of wasting my time really depressed me. I didn’t know what to do with my life. Also I couldn’t write, I was completely blocked. One day, to try to unblock my creativity, I changed the tuning of my guitar to a completely different one so I suddenly didn’t know how to play a single chord. The day after that I decided to travel by myself to the north of Spain to visit a friend, and I took my renewed guitar with me. Half way there I stopped the music and traveled in silence for a little while. That week I had read that in order to create, you must stay out of the way and let the creative energy flow through you, like a divine dictation. I decided to try it, so I waited in complete silence for something to come. It wasn’t long until I saw a flock of birds flying ahead of me and out of nowhere I sang “If I was a bird…” just like it appears in the song. I stopped the car and wrote the rest of it using the same technique, just observing and letting it come. Also, as I mentioned before, I didn’t know any chords and I had to make them up on the fly, so I was forced to keep things simple. That song is literally a description of the forest I was sitting in, but through the prism of someone who feels completely lost. Is all of the music you create based on meaningful life experiences? Not all of it, but they tend to make the best songs so in the end they’re the only ones that I show. What’s next for you ASTRO FONDA? Releasing more songs! I have a few singles coming out in the next couple months and an album called 'Astromania' that I think you will like. - NEW MUSIC: New-Age Jam Rock Band Revolt Coda Released Powerhouse LP “Juxtaposed”
Coming together to make jams for their listeners to relate to and enjoy is the eclectic four piece Revolt Coda. Comprised of Zac Conforti, Santino Carbonaro, Dallas Moreland and Tom Lagen, this Chicago based quartet is known for their diverse rock sound. Through expansive knowledge and classical training, the quartet has had the chance to both fine-tune their craft and develop a solid foundation for their sound. Revolt Coda was formed in 2019 and since then have released a slew of singles leading up to the much anticipated release of their debut LP, “Juxtaposed”. Just as the title insists, every track on the brand new LP is aligned perfectly with one another while remaining uniquely individual. The intro the LP is an upbeat and contemporary track titled “All Around”. The high energy and groovy sound arrangements give an awesome push to the beginning of “Juxtaposed” as the vibrant piano paints a picture for what’s to come. Previously featured on BuzzMusic, we dive into “Life Goes On”, a hit single off of “Juxtaposed”. The reggae inspired track weaves the listener through the diversity of Revolt Coda’s limitless talent. “Sorry, Not Sorry” boasts more blues undertones and funky guitar riffs. The pummeling vocals recite brutally honest lyricism. A track about giving up on someone who’s too hard to please, Revolt Coda is able to keep their sound light-hearted and ironic. As we transition into “Gypsy Eyes” we’re blessed with serenading keys that come through the speakers so soft and beautifully it could make you cry. When the howling, ravenous guitar is introduced I was blown away. Revolt Coda is always finding new ways to craft their individual sound. “Slugggggs” provides the listener with an extended musical experience. Featuring no vocals, “Slugggggs” boasts Revolt Coda’s chemistry as a group, how they can come together and create sound arrangements with soul and meaning, without using any words. As the LP transitions into “Cool Breeze”, the haunting and echoing tones provide exactly what the title insist. A slower ballad, “Cool Breeze” takes a more serious turn with elements of raw lyricism and vulnerability. “Cool Breeze” is more proof of Revolt Coda’s love the jam. The new-age rock band has their foot on the gas and is showing no signs of slowing down. “Del Chonko’s Phunk Phactory” is everything we could ever want from Revolt Coda and more. Laced with the funkiest noise we’ve heard throughout “Juxtaposed”. The song gives off an old school funk vibe, while still keeping things psychedelic and modern. It’s hypnotizing rhythm keeps your interest, while the earthquaking guitar tells a lyricless story. The guitar chords are spectacular throughout, the drumming is precise with hard hitting high hats and funk of the highest magnitude. “She Devil” is a track that Revolt Coda released earlier this year as the second single off of the LP and it’s not hard to see why. Intoxicating and alluring, “She Devil” is laced with Revolt Coda’s well known pummeling guitar and hard-hitting drums. It’s another retrospective track that allows us to experience the process of putting emotion, heart and soul into songwriting. From the aether and vocals to the thunderous bass and mesmerizing keys, it’s no wonder “She Devil” has had so much success already. A slower jam, “Hold On” sets the bar high for lyrically rich tracks. The pleading question repeated in the superior chorus “How do you Hold On to it?” refers to the weight of the world, sanity, sobriety and whatever else is weighing you down. Revolt Coda curated a track that many people dealing with struggle in their life can relate to. I’d love to hear more on their interpretation and inspiration behind this track. Funky orchestral keys and contagious solos bend a melancholic track into a soothing and empowering motif. The LP takes a hard 180 and introduces the funky, jazzy sounds of “Whisker Pepperfield” to bring the energy back up. The soul that exudes from a track like “Whisker Pepperfield” is the type of soul that needs to be seen in person. I would love to be in a crowd at a Revolt Coda show just escaping my mind and losing myself to the psychedelic and inspiring sounds these guys create. With quirky melodies and a rhythm section throwing down tight grooves it’s hard to believe the band is only four guys. Keeping up with the heavier side of Revolt Coda, we transition into “Tonight” for a hard-hitting and danceable track. I love the experimental and raspier vocals. This track is easy to belt out, jam along to, or blast with the windows down. “Juxtaposed” is the name title single on the LP and it provides to perfect conclusion to a killer album. Mellow and funky, “Juxtaposed” concludes the album with nothing less than excellence. The blood, sweat and tears that metaphorically (or literally) went into the making of this album are evident through the flawless delivery of every single track. High energy and consistent from beginning to end, “Juxtaposed” is a straight ear-gasm of musical brilliance. From groovy piano solos, to reggae infused riffs, “Juxtaposed” takes the listener on a refreshing rock journey. Easily relatable and pure, the album is a spectacular step in the right direction for Revolt Coda. Forming stronger bonds and connections with their fans through their undeniable talent and authenticity, I highly recommend you check it out from beginning to end. Stay on the lookout for Revolt Coda! Listen to the LP “Juxtaposed” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey guys! Welcome and congratulations on the release of “Juxtaposed”!! What would you say is the overall theme of this LP? First off, thanks so much for showing interest and appreciating what we are doing! This is Zac and Rhyno and we are super stoked to have released this LP and to be talking with you guys. The overall theme of this album originally was to express the contrast between what we have written and recorded in the past and what we are doing now. Our attitude and lyrics are still there but musically we’ve evolved as most bands do over spans of time before even releasing our first full-length. Lyrically the theme of these songs generally have to do with the city life - what we observe, experience, and struggle with at this period of our lives. Parties, alcoholism, sex drugs rock and roll, going to live shows as often as possible and people watching while getting lost in what drives us: the music. What are your personal favorite tracks on the album? When asking an artist what his/her/their favorite tracks are on an album, you can’t expect them to choose one or two. They are obviously not putting enough love into their tracks if they can. Having said that we love our instrumental tracks because they give us the opportunity onstage to really groove with each other. Even on our lyrical tracks we always find time to get into a lengthy groove and really just share the fun we have onstage with our fans in the crowd. In the track “Hold On”, you dive into some heavy subject matter, can you shed more light on the meaning behind the lyrics? Hold on has to do with the realization that one has a problem with booze or drugs and the struggle he or she goes through when trying so hard to get their shit together but failing Let’s talk about the writing process for the LP “Juxtaposed! It must feel amazing to have it released. Can you talk about some challenges you faced while creating it? The process was awesome. We always have fun with each other and Amery over at Gravel Road Recordings. Really any problems we had were just minor things with song arrangements or fills here and there that really add life to the songs Can we expect some more tour dates from you guys? We have some Chicago dates lined up. But we’re looking to come out to California around Christmas time. Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, YardboyK is here to change the hip-hop game with his high energy sound. Making waves in the streets of Ottawa, up and coming artist YardboyK is equipped with a unique sound and eccentric flow. YardboyK dropped “Bad” June 2018 and it’s seen nothing but success. Teaming up with producer CEO Sweezy, YardboyK puts his expert lyricism and melodic bars on top of a fire beat. Dripping in confidence and swagger, YardboyK weaves through metaphorical verses about his insane rise to the top. “Bad” is a bragging anthem but YardboyK deserves the bragging rights. YardboyK goes IN on the mic, the confidence he exudes bleeds through the speakers. YardboyK knows how to create music that all his fans can vibe to and enjoy. Even more impressive than his mastery of the local musical language is how he puts his own music and story at the center of it all. He is the bridge connecting all these things. Stay on the look out for this spectacular up and comer, YardboyK! Check out “Bad” here and read more in our interview with YardboyK below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We love your track “Bad”! What do the lyrics mean to you? To me hip-hop is all about self expression and being able to tell people your mood/world through song. The meaning of the lyrics could be simple as hell but it’s the way you get the message across that makes it special. “Bad” was literally just me on a happy day trying to get across what I was feeling and make other people feel that way when they hear it. Who are you musical influences? How do they help shape your sound? Growing up I played a bunch of different instruments and went to conservatory piano lessons so I think that helped me to create melodies and figure out what would be most pleasing to the ear. As for artist growing up definitely lil Wayne (the greatest ever) Chris brown and drake. They were the coldest when ymcmb was on top and Wayne’s lyricism was always something I admired... definitely helped me develop as an artist by finding the most interesting way to say basic shit. More recently though I looked towards swae lee, roddy ricch and lil durk for melodies. How do you think your music stands out in the Ottawa Rap Scene? I think I’m pretty versatile and I don’t really have a lane or like a specific type of music that I make I just make music that I’d want to listen to myself and since I listen to a bunch of different genres, the music I make reflects that. I’ve always tried to tell myself “how can I make this sound different” when I’m making music because nowadays anyone can pick up a mic and make a song but there’s a huge difference between making a song and creating music. What are some challenges you’ve faced as an up and coming artist? How do you overcome those challenges? A lot of my fans are people who I don’t know and probably won’t ever see so not getting that immediate feedback from a bunch of people around me can be tough sometimes but at the end of the day I make music for me and if people fuck with it that’s a bonus. That and being grouped in with the “Ottawa rapper” label. It’s like as soon as someone hears someone’s from Ottawa they don’t wanna hear shit from them because they assume it’s the same thing over and over but once people take the time to look around and actually listen they’ll realize ottawa has some of the most talented artists out there. We just gotta stop competing and put the city on. Stay connected! www.instagram.com/yrdbyk www.instagram.com/ceosweezy #BuzzMusic
