Solara is a 23 years old pop singer/songwriter who was born in Uruguay, Latin America, but moved to Europe by herself in order to pursue her dream. Growing up in Uruguay, Solara didn’t have much access to music, but as soon as she gained the access she craved, she felt a new and revitalizing feeling--she felt completed, and ultimately connected with her soul like she never did before. The sound of Solara is a different kind of pop we didn't know we needed, but are now aware that we do! Solara adds in her heavy Latin roots to the sound of her music, and it creates the perfect sultry sounds. We're dancing to almost every single Solara comes out with, and we know her most recent release won't be any different! Solara released her newest single titled “Petty”, along with a refreshingly and appealing video. Once we gave "Petty" a listen, we knew it was a pop hit! Solara has it all, and shows her most important elements throughout the song. A catchy beat and upbeat melody, Solara creates the perfect bubbly and feel-good environment for her listeners. Her voice completely captivates you with her Latin approach to the vocal articulation in the song. Our favorite element to "Petty" is the sassy sounding resonance that was delivered, yet delivered in a subtle and soft-like emotional conviction. This aspect definitely aided in the real sense of pop to “Petty” in such an efficient manner. You were able to feel the sentiments of the record on a stronger, and more elevated level. Her Spanish flare was perfectly digestible for all audiences of music, but even geared more towards the groovy pop lovers. Who doesn’t love a song that has you up and moving, while also possessing a strong lyrical substance to the meaning? This is exactly what Solara achieved to do, and the result was mesmerizing. Solara is most definitely a breath-taking star who will have you allured by her strong presence and prepossessing appeal! Listen to the alluring single "Petty" here, and continue reading to get to know Solara a little better! Welcome to BuzzMusic Solara! Knowing you grew up in Uruguay without much access to music, when were you first introduced to music? My family loves music, my mom really enjoys singing too, but while I was growing up, she had to work all day and barely got to just relax and listen to music, so I was mostly discovering artists by watching MTV. I remember they were playing some of Christina Aguilera's music videos from her album Back to Basics and I was obsessed with her. I loved her powerful voice, her lyrics, her style. I was around 10 and I managed to save up enough to get a used copy of her album "Stripped". I remember sitting down on my bedroom floor, listening to it and just being mindblown by her talent and the raw emotion in her voice. I was a child and still didn't understand about love, heartbreak, loss, and all the things that she was singing about, but I could feel it. That's when I discovered the tremendous power of music as the universal language of the soul. It changed my life. Tell us about your new song “Petty"! What inspired you to write “Petty”? Any challenges you’ve faced during song writing? Petty is a fun, vibey, pop/R&B song about a sour breakup. It’s about finally ending a relationship that was not going anywhere, and having the other person tell you that you'll never reach your goals, that you'll never get anywhere. It's about the empowering freedom that comes with ending an unsatisfying relationship that was comfortable yet uninspiring. But it's also kind of a clap back to your "petty" ex who doesn't believe in you and is trying to get you down; and the determination to work hard and prove them wrong. What has been the most pivotal moment in your career so far? I'm still very new to all of it; I've always loved music but I've only been doing it more seriously and professionally since last year. I think writing and recording my first songs, creating the visuals and finally putting them out there this year, the whole process from idea to released product, has been incredibly empowering and exciting. I've made some great contacts and met amazing people who love and support what I do. That just makes me very grateful to be able to connect with others, and share my passion with the world. When can we expect the next hit song from you Solara? The next single is ready to go, I'm currently working on creating the visuals for it, but it'll definitely come out this summer, so stay tuned. I'll also be recording my first EP later this year, featuring some songs in Spanish, so I'm super excited about that project. I can't wait to share it all with you guys! So talented and so uniquely themselves, The Moon Jays are on their way to the top. Listen to "Sway" here and get to know more about The Moon Jays below! Hi guys! Can you start by introducing yourself and describing your start as a group? We're The Moon Jays from Orange County, CA. On drums we've got Josh "Butterfingers" (because he drops sick beats) Brown; on bass we have Ryan Nakata; James Butler plays lead guitar and sometimes sings lead vocals; and on lead vocals/rhythm guitar we have Justin Jenks. About two and a half years ago Justin and James decided they wanted to pursue a career in music and asked if Josh (a friend from high school) wanted to join them. Lucky for the two of them Josh said yes. Ryan, who used to be James's younger sister's boss, joined a little later and we've been rocking ever since. What’s your writing process like? Typically James or Justin will present a very bare version of a song (melody, lyrics, and guitar) to which Josh and Ryan will then write their drum and bass parts for. As a band we'll discuss the tone/mood that we want the song to have and give each other suggestions, but overall each member of the band is responsible for writing their part of the song. What is each of your favorite parts in “Sway”? James: The breakdown. (@ 3:50) Josh: The breakdown and the outro (3:50 and 6:15) Ryan: The outro (@ 6:15) Justin: From the breakdown on through the rest of the song Who are your biggest musical influences? Josh: Zigaboo Modeliste, Dennis Chambers, and Clyde Stubblefield Ryan: John Paul Jones and Flea James: Synyster Gates, Joe Satriani, and John Mayer Justin: Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Marc Roberge, and Sam Cooke AS A BAND: OAR, Walk the Moon, Earth Wind and Fire, and the Rolling Stones How would you describe your live performance and stage presence to someone who has never seen you perform? James: Electrifying Josh: Booty shaking Justin: when we're done the dance floor is nothing more than a smoldering pile of ash Ryan: In all seriousness we try very hard to keep our shows fun and keep the audience out of their seats. It's our goal that for the limited time we have with the listeners they can forget about their problems and have a good time. - Maxine Davis Releases "You Could Have Told Me"
Maxine Davis is a successful Southern Songstress originating from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Maxine’s prospering music career has landed her performances on numerous stages, and even appearances on multiple television shows. She released her first project ‘She is Maxine’ in March 2016. Maxine entices her audience with her soulful voice, entrancing melodies, and powerful lyrics that will leave any listener in awe. From an early age Maxine has been intrigued by music. Her greatest influence in her musical career is Whitney Houston. “[Maxine] truly felt as if she was called to sing after hearing the late and great Whitney Houston on the radio.” Maxine’s music shares many characteristics of Whitney’s, such as soul, powerful vocals, and emotional connections with the audience. Maxine’s persona is a strong independent woman, which she earns in her Motown inspired hit single, ‘You Could Have Told Me’. My favourite line from the song is “I’m not your baby, you lost that chance when you lied, none of your calls get replies”. She sings this with confidence, emotion, and power. While listening to the song it is easy to become immersed in the storyline and feel the pain of Maxine, but you also feel her strength to overcome the hurt and it leaves you feeling empowered. The storyline is relatable and ends with a positive, feel good message. Maxine uses her vocal talent to connect with listeners in a way that allows every lyric to be not only understood, but felt. This is an uncommon characteristic in artists in this generation and it is refreshing seeing her use her talent to her fullest potential. Listen to ‘You Could Have Told Me’ here and get to know more about Maxine Davis below! Hi Maxine, it's great to chat with you! Can you tell our readers a bit about you! What do you enjoy most about creating & singing music? What I love about creating and singing music is that you can take the listener on a journey. You can design a whole new world through sound. I find it so amazing how music can evoke the rawest emotions straight from your soul. Love your new single and video for “You Could Have Told Me", can you tell us about the creation process for both the song and video? We'd love to hear more about it! Well this song, and a few others off my upcoming album, are an ode to the 1960’s Motown era. I grew up listening to all genres but to me, that period of music is truly timeless! Once I heard the beat, the melody came almost instantly. I knew it was going to be about love, but I gave it a twist. I added a bit of pain to it. To me, love isn’t always flowery and pretty. It can be tough, it can be hurtful, but thats what makes you appreciate the great moments even more. I’m filming the music video in a few days! I am so excited to add a visual to this song. It will be a beautiful, vintage inspired, story of self-reclamation. What are three things you'd love for people to know about you? Stay tuned for my next single “Say Yes”! The release date is July 1st.Besides being an Artist, I also own and run an energetic healing company named Crystal Eyes Healing. We just launched our new site! Its filled with Crystals, jewelry, readings, and other magical offerings! You can check it out here (crystaleyeshealing.com). I am looking to collaborate with an indie female rapper on a song that I am currently penning. So, if that is any of you readers, please reach out to me! What's next for you through 2019? What’s next for me is a lot of creating! Writing for myself and others. I’ll be finishing up my album by the end of this year, as well as, producing a couple more visuals. Performing anywhere and everywhere I can. I have a special gig with Sofar Sounds on June 26th and I would love for those who dig my music to come out and support! Feel free track me on Bandcamp to stay up to date on all upcoming shows. - J. Morgan Tells All In His Latest “Played Yourself”
J. Morgan is an emcee based in the Bay Area. He has been doing his thing around the California area musically and his work ethic and consistency is evident. J. Morgan uses his lyrics to convey a musical diary, showcasing fun, real, and personal matters that are very near and dear to his heart. Using his creativity not only in his lyricism but in his cinematic videos that are produced by him! In the past few years J. Morgan has been headlining his own shows and supporting various artists on tour like Andre Nikatina, Equipto, Karma Knows, and MayDay just to name a few. Today he is bringing us his most recent track “Played Yourself”! Wow! Definitely something different and unexpected! This track is really catchy and even only after one run through. Fun and playful lyrics really show a side to this artist that most don’t. The instrumental is fun and the claps throughout the beat make it easy to dance to. The claps bring back a old school feeling I haven’t heard in so long and I am here for it! I also loved the visual for it. And to know that J. Morgan came up with this on his own makes it so much better! My favorite scene in the video had to be the blue light scene. That scene almost gives me modern day Godfather vibes with a Cali twist! As I listen in again and can’t help but to rap along to the chorus I would have to say job well done. Listen to “Played Yourself” here and get to know more about J. Morgan below! - “Erica” Is A Touching Song By Brian Cottrill That Warms The Heart
Veteran Brain Cottrill of the West Virginia original music scene is a founding member of Drain Babies and The Grey Agents of which he has been the primary songwriter, vocalist and guitarist for the last five years. "The Grey Agents play new music that sounds very much like 1979 classic rock. The sound is dense and layered with guitars, keyboards and vocals. I wanted to strip my songs down to their bare core and leave them raw. I picked songs from my lifetime of writing, from being a 17 year old to new songs that didn't exist before this album started. I didn't give myself a lot of takes to make this record. If I couldn't get a good track after a few takes, I moved on to something else. I wanted the performance to sound fresh" states Cottrill. With only acoustic guitar, vocals and harmonica found on the album, except for “Gates of Venus” that has the addition of drums, bass, keyboards, and mandolin. His songs on this album have various meanings such as being written about his daughter, parents or even about the Harry Powers murders that occurred in 1931 and will be available on all major streaming and download platforms. “Erica” is a song written by Brian Cottrill that is written about his daughter, and you can hear the love and joy that he has for the relationship with her just shining through each lyric. I love that the song starts off with the sound of strings to set the mood, and then Brian is accompanied by the peaceful strumming’s of the guitar to beautifully add to this heartfelt track. “Erica” has lyrics that are meaningful and that you can tell were thought out very carefully to be melded into words that his daughter could take with her through all walks of life whether tough or full of happiness. His vocals are refined, are full of passion, and personally I feel like you can hear the experience behind his voice and that he has had quite the journey himself, maybe trying to pass some wisdom onto his daughter for the future through his love of music. As a daughter myself, “Erica” makes me think of all the wonderful things my father has done for me, and how he has been there for me rooting me on no matter the circumstances and it honestly brought tears to my eyes. In my opinion, people often take for granted how much their parents really do cheer them on and this was a beautiful reminder that they always are. Listen to "Erica" here and get to know more about Brian Cottrill below! Hey Brian! Fantastic to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself? I have been playing in a band called The Grey Agents for the last five years and I just released my first solo album, Through They Keyhole. It's an acoustic singer/songwriter album. Just me with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica. Have any of your life experiences shaped how you create new music? I wrote a song about my parents and my daughter. So my family should be on the lookout for what they do, it might end up in a song! A lot of the songs are just about what I see and people around me. One song called, "The Murder Farm' is about the 1931 Harry Powers serial murders. It was story I heard growing up, I live about a mile form the site. There's a long history in songwriting about crime and death. I wrote three new songs for this album. But the rest were written throughout my life. I wrote "Lace" when I was 17. It was the first song I wrote that wasn't terrible. I wrote these songs over the last 37 years. Most of them were never released. Three songs were brand new and just written for this album. What does your creative process look like when creating and recording new music? I just write about what I see around me. It might be something someone says or something in the news. I have a recording studio in my basement. You can see it in some of my videos. So it's easy for me to record after something is written. Since I did this album alone and played all the instruments, I could work at my own quick pace without having to wait for anyone or to schedule anything. I recorded this album in two months. I did everything in 1-3 takes. If I couldn't get the inspiration quick, I just moved on to something else. Tell us about some artists that inspire your sound. I love Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and John Mellencamp. I love 70's old school punk, too. I just wanted to strip my songs back without the full band, but just me and my guitar and see how the stand on their own. Is there anything new we can expect to see from you in 2019? This new album was just released, so that's the new thing in 2019. I have played some live shows and will play some more. I haven't played without a band for 30 years. So it's both fun and terrifying to go out there bare with just an acoustic guitar. You feel naked out there. I've also been playing some covers on YouTube and FaceBook. I did a version of Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A Changin'" where I changed it to 4/4 time and played all the instruments: guitar, bass, and drums. I made a video for The Beatles "Eleanor Rigby" where I played acoustic guitar, mandolin, bass and drums. And I did a hard rock cover of John Lennon's "Imagine" with some very talented friends. AD’s voice quite literally sounds like Kanye West’s tone with AD The Artist’s own flare. “Living life’s a drug but don’t abuse it” is a lyric throughout this track that I love. It’s relatable because we all take life for granted sometimes. This dope track is about hustling and working hard to make money. “May my future be Forever Green” is all about the money! “Forever Green” is an anthem for the hardworking people living their real life. The production quality and artistry is professional and finely-calibrated. The whole album, and especially this single will propel AD’s career to new heights and we can’t wait to see what he delivers next. Listen to "Forever Green" here and get to know more about AD The Artist below! Hi AD! What’s you real name? How did you create this stage name? My real name is Andreas Dimitri. My stage name was created just as my initials. And then “The Artist” part of it taps into me as an artist. I feel like I’m more than just a rapper or songwriter but an artist in the way I develop my cadences and flows, in addition to being a producer as well and creating the right sounds that fit me as a person, character, and overall artist. Are you currently performing your newest album anywhere? What’s your stage presence like? I’m currently located in Tampa so I do quite a bit of shows in this area.. looking to tap into the south Florida scene more often so Miami, Broward, Palm Beach areas.. and also extend my performances to central Florida, so Orlando as well. I’ve developed some good relationships with brands in New York and also performed at an event for SXSW in Austin and made some good relationships out there as well, so keep it locked I’ll be doing more shows in the upcoming months. My stage presence you’ll just have to tune in and see... but I’m a huge fan of crowd participation and one thing that’s special about my performances, if possible I like to move with my MPC which is my beat making machine.. and give audiences a live demonstration of how I make my beats and a lot of the times it’s for the songs you’re going to see me perform right after! So that’s special to me and I love sharing that. What would be your dream collaboration? My dream collaboration that’s a tough one... so my heritage is Jamaican, I’ve been well cultured in my ethnicity since I was a toddler and I’ve grown up listening to not only Hip-Hop, but a lot of Reggae and Dancehall. One of my most influential artists and probably dream collabs would have to be with a dancehall artist by the name of Vybz Kartel. FREE VYBZ KARTEL he’s currently incarcerated hopefully will be released soon. But yeah, I’ve always been a fan of him and his work ethic, I mean he’s even incarcerated now still releasing new music every month.. that’s a big mystery some say he has a mic in his cell haha! But yeah.. Vybz Kartel. How did you get started in making/writing music? I started writing music from middle school about 7th grade. Just leisurely I would engage in free styles because I just loved music. Growing up my dad collected vinyls and listened to a lot of music.. I fell in love with it at an early age and I would know songs like no other. My family members would call me jukebox because any song that came on the radio or even songs that played out of stereo systems.. I would know, and I would recite the lyrics! Like who’s this kid knowing all these songs haha. I was good at that. So I think as I grew up and developed more of an understanding for the gift or talent I had, I thought maybe I could make this a career, let’s figure out how to monetize this and create a business from it. DJ Blackout, Grammy nominated producer, and resident DJ for LIV On Sunday DJ Don P really helped mold me and create confidence in me as an artist to pursue a music career, so my early knowledge and opportunity I’d always have to think back to that and credit them for establishing me as an artist and “showing me the ropes.” We love you lyrics! What's the meaning behind “Forever Green”? Forever Green is a song I created to express growth and change. All my music I want it to make people feel good and come with a meaning or a purpose. With Forever Green, when you think of the color green you think of growth, a level of “freshness”, purity, MONEY, new beginnings. And that’s what I wanted to tap into on this record. So I say in there may my future be “Forever Green” so essentially saying may my future be ever growing, may it blossom, may life present me with new beginnings, and most significantly, MONEY! Forever Money, Forever Green! So that’s the story behind that concept. - Mic Emoji Releases New Single "Blood Money"
Mic Emoji has been creating music ever since he was 14 years old. It’s been a part of him like an arm and a leg, but for many years he stopped writing and performing. Mic Emoji eventually went to pursue other things in life, however, after starting a promising job, a job that will gave him a better understanding on the life, love, and time we have on this earth, he began to do what he loves again, and share his passion with the world. This is his rebirth and his story. Mic Emoji released a melodic record titled “Blood Money” and we loved everything about this track. The reason I personally felt as if Mic Emoji pushed the boundary was how he lyrically presented who he was through the raw content behind the production of lyricism. Mic Emoji expresses a vulnerable side of him that makes his music great. “I sold my blood today” was the hook. This was a cool and witty to be metaphorically thought-provoking to his listeners. The melody reminded me of an artist like Akon, due to the slight auto-tune and absolute soul surrounding the vocalism. "Blood Money" portrays different notes vocally reached by Mic Emoji, giving us a little insight on the underlying skills he has as a true artist. The ambition in Mic Emoji is apparent, as he kills it in this melodically driven hit. "Blood Money" is a nice vibe, and a must-have on our playlists! Give a listen to "Blood Money" here, and continue scrolling for Mic Emoji's interview! Hey Mic Emoji! You have had an interesting journey so far so to say, how has your background impacted your songwriting? I had alot of lived experience so that gives me a lot of content as far as music. I have a wide range of songs to come. What was the vision you had for “Blood Money” ? Do you feel like you executed this well? Blood make was more a hey look at me song. The topic I thought would be more of discussion piece its part of my slow roll out strategy because I'm start from zero, and I think I executed great. Was “Blood Money” a reflection of your profession? Blood money came about when I was having money problems and someone said hey you can sale your blood and get $50 from the place down the street. What emotion did you have to channel while writing this record and why? I was thinking of writing a descriptive song and blood money just came to be. It was something that was sleeping to my psyche. That came to the forefront in a song. The emotions when one has comes to grips with the fact you may have to sale something precious just to pay a bill. Anything upcoming for you Mic? Yes more releases with my job it's kind of hard to just hit the road and tour but I will do what I can. So I will be work the Blood Money single for a while and will be releasing another song a little more mainstream. Get to know Mic Emoji through his socials: Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic

I go by the name Mr Bangz, and I am Sierra Leonean living in London, UK. I juggle my music with a professional job, working as an Analyst. I love music, so whenever I am not at work I go to the studio to make music. What was the motivation to write a song like “Ice Cream”? Where did the idea come from? The motivation for "Ice Cream" is from my everyday life experinces, and also from anyone who doubted I could do it alone. The idea for the song was inspired by a few other British acts whose music I have been really drawn to. And my aim was to do a song with a UK vibe, fused with a taste Sierra Leone. What’s it like preforming as a solo artist compared to being part of a duo? It's very different, but in a way, I like it. It's easier to make decision and I also have the freedom to do the type of songs I wish to do. Where does your creative flow come from? Anything and everything. From life experiences, to family, other artists that I admire and my environment really. What’s next for you? ANSWER: For now I just want to be dropping singles, stay relevant and continue to make more good music. Catch up with Mr. Bangz via the artists Instagram and Twitter. #BuzzMusic
- We Present Yet Another Category Transformer: Jack Berry
At BuzzMusic, you know we love to find artists who are transforming the category they’re in. What we love even more is artists creating buzz for a category that’s hardly there to begin with! Residing in Nashville, Tennessee, Jack Berry is a rugged and intoxicating artist who sheds some refreshing light on the country/rock scene. Jack releases music that has the good ol’ country twang we love, meshed together with the core elements you’d expect to hear in any great rock track. Jack Berry definitely isn’t a new comer to the music scene, especially when it comes to getting his music out there. Jack Berry’s recent single Bad Dog” and “Kiss Like” were featured on the well-known production “Shameless”, and the artist has gained some pretty crazy traction from papers such as Rolling Stone. Once you give a listen to Jack’s music, you’ll realize how mature and crafted his sound really is. We’re immediately introduced with some pretty heavy guitar riffs in Jack’s recent single “Mad Behavior”. This song is incredibly diverse in our opinion, as Jack is able to combine the underlying sound of a great country song, with the hard-hitting melodies you’d find in a rock song. We love the type of hard-hitting country vibe Jack Berry is going for, and it’s definitely a sound we won’t get sick of anytime soon. “Mad Behavior” will really catch your attention with its overall aggressive sound, at least it did for us! We find that not every artist out there can nail the delivery with such hard-hitting music, but it’s as if this genre was meant for Jack. His execution doesn’t seem fabricated or passionless, it’s all but. I can practically feel the rage and emotion pouring off of this track, so definitely don’t expect to be disappointed with “Mad Behavior”. Quality of vocals is also pretty insane, considering there are some pretty crazy notes to hit throughout the song. Nonetheless, Jack doesn’t miss any opportunity to show off his talent, and we really believe “Mad Behavior” is the perfect representation of the quality of music Jack Berry puts out to his listeners. Listen to Mad Behavior here and get to know more about Jack Berry below! Hey Jack! We love the hard-hitting sound of your latest single “Mad Behavior”. Can you talk more on how you originally saw the production of this song going? Some of the time when I’m writing, it’s for the live show. I’m choreographing the experience, the rise and fall of what I suppose you could say is the soundtrack to story I’m telling. I wanted that turnaround, that start to Act 3, the driving force to take it on home. The pacing is built around the chug of bass line, just grooving through. What was the ultimate inspiration behind curating “Mad Behavior”? The final speech in The Great Dictator from 1940 with Charlie Chaplin. We think too much and feel too little, he says, pleading with the congregated to not give into to machine men with “machine minds” and machine hearts. That sentiment stuck to me. More than this “machinery” so to speak, we need humanity. Nothing more human than letting loose in rebellion or whatever the hell you’re fighting or letting go of. And it’s not always accepted or welcome, hence, Mad Behavior. To break free from a mold is a gorgeous thing. You’re an incredible artist that has gained some awesome traction we see and made it pretty far! What’s one piece of advice that you would give to yourself when you were first starting out in music? There’s always someone that’s going to be better technically but make sure no one does it like you do. If you could redo “Mad Behavior” and have one artist feature on it with you, who would you choose? Tyler The Creator. There’s definitely a verse waiting in there for him. Are you planning on releasing more music this year? If so, when can we expect some new sounds from you?! Better believe it. There’s going to be 4-5 singles coming out over the span of summer. Time to shake the dust. Connect with Jack Berry on social media www.instagram.com/damnjackiboy www.twitter.com/damnjackiboy www.facebook.com/JackBerrymusic
- Kira Stuns Us With Her Eclectic Atmospheric Tune “Retrograde"
Kira is a 20 year old singer-songwriter that is making a huge splash in the California music community. Kira is a diverse musician, and ultimately expresses her talent through the curation of her music. Kira has studied music intensively, and felt it make an impact in her life enormously, and so (thankfully) she began writing and producing her own music in order to release it into the world. While listening to her music, we get heavy elements from some of our favorite artists such as the type of environment that Lana Del Rey creates, and the beats that you would expect to find in a new hot Billie Eilish song. We get all of the aspects we love, with the originality of Kira and her contributions to her authentic style. Kira releases her most recent single “Retrograde” and it sounds exactly what it would seem to sound like if you were in retrograde yourself. We’re obsessing over the underlying beat and mix of varying synths to create the ambient and eclectic atmosphere that she portrays. Putting the catchy and unique beat aside, Kira adds in her own twist on sultry and hypnotic vocals, curating an overall mix of sound we can’t say we’ve heard a lot of lately. You can’t really tell that “Retrograde” is Kira’s first self-produced song—it flows with expertise and is supported heavily through her execution of lyricism and production of beats. “Retrograde" is the kind of song you want to be listening to when you’re relaxing beachside, with no worries and completely zen. The vibe is eccentric, yet soothing, and thats a combination we didn’t expect to blend so well together. Kira sings about retrograde within her song (ironic), and touches on heavy past experiences, such as relationships, the struggle of past ones, and essentially creating some shade to the ones that have wronged her. Through this, Kira ultimately complements her voice with her own production of beats, and all we have to say is that we love an artist who can do it all. Kira is hell of a talented musician, and we’re keeping our eyes on this one, because we already know she’s about to blow up, it’s just a matter of when. Check out Kira’s single here and continue reading for her exclusive interview with BuzzMusic! Hello Kira! Please tell our readers a fun fact about yourself as an artist! I get more nervous singing in front of one person than an actual crowd of people. We listened to your song “Retrograde” and love the atmosphere it produces. What kind of vibe were you trying to reach when curating this song? I was trying to go for a lo-fi hip hop feel. I have been really into that genre of music more recently. What was your favorite part about the process of creating “Retrograde”? Do you prefer to curate lyrics over beats, or vice versa? For me, my favorite part was producing the instrumental and hearing it come together with the lyrics. I do prefer to make lyrics over the beats because I find it easier that way. Who are your top three musical influences today? Personal influences? My top three musical influences are Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, and Joji. My personal influences are probably my dad because he is always suggesting music for me to cover and to heighten my musicality. Are you planning on releasing anymore new music in the upcoming year? Yes, I plan to record an EP hopefully, and maybe sign to an independent label (in the process). Connect with Kira on social media: www.instagram.com/sweetpeachkira
