- We Like Everything That Step Back J Is Going For In Latest Single "I Like"
From sunny Santa Barbara comes the hip hop artist Step Back J who will cultivate you with his own unique spin on the culture of hip-hop. He transforms the genre into his own work of art. With StepBack J's versatile style and creative punch lines, his music will cover anything from a good time at a party to more serious issues around the globe. Spreading the good vibes and having fun is the goal, and his music is the key. Step Back J released his single titled “I Like” and it immediately begins with a funky instrumental introduction with elements of classic hip-hop. The boombox culture of rap where the beats were known for the kicks and synths while delivering a funky flare was reinvented in “I Like” and that’s why I was personally a big big fan of the single. The repetitive hook is extremely catchy and has this ability to get stuck in your head inevitably. Step Back J either makes music for the good vibes, or music to express a sense of dwelled emotions, and “I Like” most definitely falls in the plethora of positive and joyful playlists! You let loose, enjoy the moment, and allow the song to take over your mood in a nearly 4-minute time span. “I Like’ can resonate well to those who are a big fan of the lo-fi hip-hop culture with cheeky and addictive lyrics! Make sure you check out Step Back J's "I Like" here, and scroll below for the artists interview! Hello, can you introduce yourself to our readers? What Inspired you to begin writing music? Hello! I go by Step Back J. I am from Santa Barbara, CA and have been making music since I was in 8th grade. I don't know what it was that made me start writing music, but I do know what made me continue. A couple friends of mine had gotten into writing and making music, so it was something we would all do together when we weren't busy playing basketball. It wasn't until my senior year of college that I really decided I wanted to be good. I was just cut from my college team and had gotten into a good group of guys that really helped me along the way. Are you a personal fan of classic or current hip-hop? There's a lot of music I really enjoy from both eras. What I don't like in todays hip hop, is the lack of respect that is consistently shown and praised by the media. People thinking its cool to act stupid. What style of hip-hop do you personally believe your single “I Like” embodies? I've always considered my style to be a cross between Kyle, J Cole, and Logic. I believe "I Like" really embodies that. Playfully fun and real. What was your mood when writing “I Like”? I like to party a lot. "I Like" was written during a time where I was hitting the club probably 3 times a week. I was having fun and I Like" was written in response to that. This is a song about me doing the things i like to do and not really caring about what others think. Any upcoming releases we can anticipate? I have a ton of music waiting to be released. This summer I have a collab project releasing with Chris The Thr!llest. It will most likely be called The Shenanigans and will be a really cool project. I can't wait til it gets released! - Sidi Creates The Ultimate Experience With Imagery And Poetic Lyrics With New Album “Night Swim”
Almost 2 years after her first EP release, “Destructive”, the teaser after her signing with an independent label, “Midnight Records”, Sidi is here with her newest project titled “NightSwim The EP”. NightSwim the EP takes its listener on a journey of the dark and undiscovered places of the post-breakup Psyche. This EP weaves between multiple diverse genres in creating a contextual and intricate project. The first single on this EP, “Night Swim” begins with a hazy, and atmospheric production that created a sensual dark setting around the song. “Night Swim” was the perfect opening to the album because It instantly draws its listener in on the project. The song was just mesmerizing and completely gave me chills. From the sound FX of the water to complement the theme of the record to the pop-trap production, NightSwim is a song where the listener can get lost within the effortlessly moving sound of the record. For me, I envisioned a lover, a lonely beach, and a night environment. The imagery I created while listening to “Night Swim” helped me enjoy the melodies a bit more. I’ve been better, baby... look how bitter you’ve made me” as the first line, sets the tone for the EP perfectly. Dipping in and out of remembering her past, in a way she regrets and also craves; it will remind anyone of the feeling of leaving the person that was so bad for you, but so much fun as well. The song is highly contagious and all-around influencing to your mood! After Sidi snatches you into her album, she leaves you floating on cloud nine with the next dream-like record, “Human”. With Lush vocals and an ambient production, Human is a romantically-pop driven single that creates mystery suspense to the album. Human lightens the mood after Nightswim and shows off Sidi’s pop-leaning side, with a hook that will be stuck in your head all day. With lots of space in the production, Sidi lets the air in her voice have a moment, while supporting lyrics like “what beautiful things, doomed from the start, bitter things… nowhere to go with these things, and we give all we are to these things.” The song is purely reflective and lets listeners in on the turmoil that follows a chaotic love affair. but did we expect Sidi to leave us feeling fulfilled after two songs? She continues to keep the vibes going with the next record, “Decisions”. “Decisions” was a sultry display of heartbreak with an R&B texture covering the unique articulating vocals of Sidi. it leaves you stunned. While listening, I found myself mentally traveling back to a time place of my own personal heartbreak. That’s the beauty of the record is that it’s so transporting to the listener’s personal past. With her sensual energy propelling the melody forward, “Decisions” weaves between the lines of melancholy and contentedness. Unintentionally bringing peace and relaxation onto our moods. This third track on the EP allows listeners to hear how heavily R&B influences Sidi’s production; with a topline that leaves nothing to the imagination. Through a vocal we haven’t heard from Sidi before, she sings “tell me where you are because I want to sit under the same stars, I want to be your girl, so I can give you all of my heart... so, let's try this again”. The next record on “Night Swim”, “Love With You”, was the song that mellows the listener into the comfort of the project. At this point of the album, you’re all the way in the water... Initially beginning with your feet inside, and as every song progresses you find yourself sinking deeper and deeper into the music. By the time of “Love With You”, you’re on the Night Swim that feels everlasting. “Love With You” delivers romantic instrumentation and equally sensual vocals that give the lyrics the soft punch they deserve. Sidi allows her audience to understand her better with this song, as the vulnerable but strikingly self-aware person she is. She takes accountability for her faults, but ultimately this track feels like a calm explanation to her past lover. With every corner turn, there’s something new to explore within “Night Swim”. A new record that gives a new lyrical meaning to the project. And that hidden gem was the release of “On Top”. “On Top” gave me the interpretation of Sidi putting her loved one on a pedestal, however, he didn’t return the same energy she gave. Which made this record a compelling arrangement to the project due to the new theme or under-appreciation being displayed. “On Top” brings energy and shows Sidi’s inability to sugarcoat the truth. With lyrics like “when I made you feel special like you could be the one...I wasn’t in love, I can’t give you what you want” and “you’re bad for me, I’m bad for you”, listeners can feel the tension between two people that are trying to make something work, that never had a chance in the first place. The closer of “Night Swim” was “I Can’t Stay”--the ending of the atmospheric project that woos its listener with an ultimate experience you won’t ever forget. Sidi undoubtedly created the journey of deeper musical context surreal for us and “I Can’t Stay” felt like the ending of an irresistible path. “Night Swim” was an EP like no other. A personal fan of each song, these tracks warrants its place on the album in their own special forms. For me, my personal favorites were “Night Swim” due to the opening chills I felt while listening. “Decisions” because I was obsessed with the fusion of RnB productions, and “On Top” because the energy of the record seemed to have a more different approach! All in all, this album was spectacular. Stream Sidi's new album here, and keep scrolling in order to get to know the artist better through her exclusive interview with us at BuzzMusic! Hey Sidi, it's great to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Hey! Stoked to talk with you guys - yeah absolutely! I'm 22, I grew up in Los Angeles, spent a little time living in the Netherlands when I was 16; and i've been making music for about eleven years now. I started writing my own lyrics to songs on the radio and cd's when I was about 6, then at around 11 years old, I met a producer who had a home studio and ended up teaching me guitar and piano (at which point, I was able to put music behind my own lyrics). After working in his studio for a little while, I got really interested in the entire recording process, which ended up sparking my interest in going to Audio Engineering school. I signed with Midnight Records (an Independent label based in LA) right after graduating SAE:LA, and i've made two EP's with them so far (Destructive and Night Swim). Love your new album! How does “Night Swim” differentiate itself from your previous release? Thank you! Night Swim is really just a big step for Ghosty and I in all aspects; production, writing, sound design, mixing, and fine tuning the details. I had more of a cohesive story to tell on this project, and Destructive was kind of just a project where Ghosty and I made a bunch of little vibes, and called it an EP. So, it definitely just feels more true to where we are as producers, and where I am as a writer. What songs on “Night Swim” were more challenging for you to create and why? The very first song we made for Night Swim was actually the last song on the EP, "I cant stay". That one was definitely, vocally, the most challenging because we recorded it the day that i finished writing it, so I was an emotional wreck, and everything that the EP is about, was so so so fresh and present in my life still. Production-wise, I think "Love with U" was the most challenging for Ghosty and I - we did like 3 or 4 completely different versions of that song and it took forever for us to fully land on which version we were the most happy with. What is your favorite song on the album, why? My favorite song on the EP is probably "I Can't Stay" - I just feel like it sums up the whole EP so well, the writing is tight, and the production on the whole outro is some of my favorite work that Ghosty and I have done. Which song on this album do you feel best reflects the theme of the EP as a whole and why? I think, "Night Swim" represents the whole theme pretty well - it has the energy that comes up throughout the EP, the darker elements, the sexier moments, etc. What’s next for you through 2019? 2019 is going to be wild - I'll be doing my first merch drop, tons of live shows, and we have over 6 singles + collaborations planned for release before the end of the year. - Anthony Levone Seriously Impresses Us With Latest Track “Do It For"
We’re bringing you guys a brand new artist (we have a baby artist here at BuzzMusic)! Anthony Levone is articulate, talented and raw in his execution of lyricism. At the young age of 22, Anthony is making a big impact in the music world with his latest music, and we’re inviting you to come along and discover more about who and what Anthony Levone is. Damn. Anthony’s latest single “Do It For” is a killer track. The integration of what sounds like underlying trumpet beats throughout the track makes it stand out to me as a higher class rap single. It’s a song that makes you picture yourself as a winner right away—a rap track that has you feeling real good. What I found most compelling about this single was the message that Anthony was giving throughout: who he’s doing all of this for. “Do it for the sons that got slaughtered”; “I do it for those who die with ropes around their necks"—Anthony Levone is giving off an inspirational and powerful message through his choice of lyricism, and I feel major respect for what he seems to be all about. I wasn’t disappointed at all with Anthony’s newest track “Do It For”—a quality rap track that has a J.Cole feel to it, I’m ultimately impressed. Listen to "Do It For" here and get to know more about Anthony Levone below! Anthony Levone! Wow, your music is catchy man. Tell us how you knew the music journey was for you? Honestly I've always had a way with words & a love for good music along with a creative spirit so I eventually made my decision to make music in late 2017 with some pressuring from friends and family who saw potential in me. How was the creation process of “Do It For”? Was it relatively easy to come up with the lyrics for this track, or did you find it difficult? It was fun & a bit painstaking in all honestly just due to my meticulous nature. Coming up with the lyrics took some time because I'm a perfectionist & wanted each word to flow well with the next all while staying true to who I am & my motivations for making music whom I detail in the lyrics in the song. Are you happy with the way “Do It For” was produced? Overall I'm pretty satisfied with it but the production along with my flow could've been better but for humans to error is normal. Tell us about your musical inspirations—who would you say are the top three artists/bands that have had the largest impact on both you and your music? I'm a fan of greatness & truth so I would say my three greatest musical inspirations are Tupac, J. Cole & the legendary duo of OutKast whom along with Cole hail from the South like myself. What’s going on with you and your music for the rest of 2019? What can listeners expect to see from you? A good bit honestly, I'm currently just working hard to accrue more funds to further my career as an independent artist & future producer as well as making quality art, also I'm continuing to perfect my skills in the booth and enlarge my fan base. They can expect more truth from the heart along with catchy hooks & witty, sometimes advanced vocabulary filled bars that can paint the most vivid pictures of sorrow, pain, heartache, and even hope as well as a few visuals to accompany later single releases & this one as well. - Quan Aqua Faust Releases New Single “I’m Begging"
With an unmistakable style and charisma, Quan Aqua Faust skyrocketed into stardom with a talent that brought to mind the harmony and love of past legends in music. Dennis Williams, known by the stage name as Quan Aqua Faust, was born in Kingston, Saint Andrew, Jamaica to parents who were both young professionals. When his father left for the United States, Dennis was only 3, and so he stayed with his mother in Kingston. Faust moved to the United States at the age of 21 in order to make a life for himself and his mom. While living in the U.S, Faust ventured into numerous acting and modeling scenes, with hope to be signed to record labels too. Faust however decided he was going to become an independent artist and produce and sell his own music himself, so he did with the help of distribution sources (digitally). From then, he went on to release numerous records that distributed great success for him. Quan Aqua Faust released his latest single titled “I’m Begging” and it began with a powerful vocal belt from the hook. The melody transitions in and it soothes your mental with the emotionally convicted delivery. The smooth-sailing beat creates the perfect support, and mood for the sentimental record. The lyrical context seemed to have a strong substance that could possibly be related to the emotions Faust has felt, or an experience he has endured. However, the lyricism can connect with the audience with a strong appeal to our emotions and repressed feelings and thoughts. Faust vocal tone was beautiful, carrying the record from start to finish in a silk-like texture that just floats across the beat without any signs of effort. It seems like Faust is just naturally a skilled vocalist with a lot to give. “I’m Begging” is a great offering from an artist with an intriguing background who has nothing but lessons, stories, and feelings to tell to his listener, and he channels that in his extravagant songwriting. Explore "I'm Begging" for yourself here, and continue reading for our interview with Quan Aqua Faust. Hello! Can you introduce yourself to our readers? How did start your career in music? My name is Quan Aqua Faust, for me I like to think of my career started when I wrote my first song, which was at age 13, sitting at my desk at home writing songs instead of doing my homework. I however released my first song Big Dreams and that’s when my career took off on a somewhat level. Tell us about “I’m Begging”, how do you relate to it? The song “I’m Begging” comes from me going through an emotional toll, this song came up from a moment where I had broke up with my partner of 3 years, and that break brought the world on my shoulders but at the same time it’s like I didn’t regret the break up because it was for my well-being. How is "I'm Begging" different than your previous releases? “I’m Begging” is classified by allot of people both young and elderly, to be like a legendary soul song which them themselves haven’t heard in a long time in this nowhere day music. What was the emotion you channeled in while writing this record? I was deeply disappointed of my breakup that the words I had to say was still in my heart and was weighing me down so what I did was to literally go on YouTube and watch Beyoncé’s Biography and as she talk about how she wants to be seen as and known for, I just went straight with her recommendation, forget being cool, be how you feel, pour out your feelings and send empowering words to the ears of people, maybe you can make a difference in someone’s life. What’s can we expect next from you? Well I am currently working on my album to be released this summer, And a few music videos to accompany the album in stores. Be ready world Quan Aqua Faust is starting. Check out Quan Aqua Faust's socials in order to stay connected with the artist: Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
- Lo’renzo To’rez Has Us All in Our Feelings
Born and raised in Ohio is a debonair artist by the name of Lo’renzo To’rez who is determinedly becoming a noteworthy addition to the urban contemporary music ménage. Before making the decision to professionally pursue music, To’rez was a staple in his local church and school choirs. It should therefore come as no surprise that this emerging star has a voice replete with soul. He is a mellifluous voice who aims to enrapture our eardrums with his take on the highs and lows of this roller coaster we call life. His lyrics are meaningful shards of his own personal experiences , and it is this artistic candidness that makes the man so darn relatable. In his latest pop ballad ,“Closing the Door”, To’rez bares his souls and invites us into his vivid portrayal of a checkered and debilitating relationship. Feeling “tired of trying” and “tired of crying” are not foreign frustrations for people who have loved wholeheartedly only for their emotions to be met with indifference. We have all been there ; It does not get more heartbreaking than that , but To’rez cushions the blow by delivering such sombre content with such a soothing baritone. Round of applause for this promising star, who like Drake, is showing men everywhere that it is okay to feel and actually articulate it! Check out "Closing The Door" here, and scroll below for the artists exclusive interview! Lo’renzo, it has been a pleasure speaking with you. Now tell me a bit more about yourself. Well thank you so much likewise and I really appreciate you having me! I’m honored! :) and I’m a city boy born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, always loved music and had a passion for it, it’s in my blood! my grandmother and father were singers in church, I’m a very driven focused hardworking independent guy I’m a loner also but I love having fun too as well simple things like dinner going to the movies skating and bowling traveling too :) So many established singers grew up singing in the church- Brandy, Usher, Ed Sheeran and so on- why did you decide to make the transition to secular music ,and how has your choral background impacted your sound and style as an artist? Yes! So true love all them by the way their some of my favorite artists lol :) but yea I grew up in church and even school choirs singing gospel music which I loved but I wanted to express myself telling my story in my own music so when I started recording my own music I was able to do that with secular which is what I always wanted to do loved pop and rap and r&b growing up listening to Madonna,Michael Jackson,Whitney Houston,Janet Jackson, Prince, 2pac and many others I loved and was so inspired by them, and also actually growing up too we weren’t allowed to listen to secular music on Sundays my mom didn’t let us but we’d sneak and listen to it though anyway lol :) sorry mom love you! :) “Closing the Door” is like an anthem for that pre- “ready-to-live-my-best-life” period after a breakup or hardship. It is so relatable! What inspired this track? Thanks so much! Yea the record was definitely inspired by my real life situations you know, just being fed up with being let down in love and you just let go you shut down and say hey I’m done and finished “no more” I’m going to do me and just be alone! and I think thats why the listeners relate to it because it’s so real and relatable which is always the kinda music I want to continue to deliver! You worked with producer Brett Pemberton and songwriter Rachel Maloney on “Closing the Door” and recorded it at Randy Jackson’s studio. What was that experience like? Omg it was such an incredible amazing experience I’ll never forget! Brett and Rachel are great! It was so great working with them we really connected on this record it was actually therapeutic for me too because we sat and talked about our bad experiences with relationships and love as we were writing this record together and it was so good to get that out it really helped me a lot! What’s next for Lo’renzo To’rez? Man a lot honestly I’m going to record and release more awesome dope music! I have more new music coming on the way in the works! Going to be working on new music videos for new songs that will be coming out, also eventually starting a tour doing shows, and just continuing to work hard never stopping and continue building my brand more and more! - New Single “Looking For Love” By MELA Is The Crisp and Passionate Track We Adore
New York City Based indie-pop singer and songwriter MELA, born Megan Elise Kelly, with her first singles “Give It Back” and “Young!” released under ‘Megan Elise’, a name used to pen songs she’s written for TV, advertisements and film. “MELA” was formed after teaming up with Nashville producer, Ryan Corn, and sisters, Laura and Elizabeth Kelly and her singles were re-released under the new name, gaining popularity quickly with the name change. Released on May 6th was her newest single “Looking For Love” with inspiration coming from those who have supported her along her personal journey. Writing mostly for sync but with true passion in writing songs for herself, MELA has said “My music is my diary; my ultimate release” and is expecting to release 2 more singles this spring that will combine a combination of indie-pop songs surrounding the ups and downs of love and feeling good, then losing love and moving on again. Megan can be found fiercely competing at some board games, dancing at a NYC bar with her friends or playing hide and seek with her cat, Phineas, when she is not playing music. “Looking for Love” is like coming up for air after a deep dive under water, or the first rain after a storm – just a simply amazing feeling. With stunning vocals, Megan eases through this song with finesse, style, and passion that is clearly emulated through each lyric and note. Her voice is refined, talented, and full of emotion that adds a unique layer to the song and makes it easy for the audience to dive into this juicy track. The gradual build-up of tension that is found throughout “Looking for Love” gives real insight to the presence of the artist embedded into the song and the possible meaning that can be interpreted from this emotional track. The lyrics are extremely well written and articulated perfectly by this up and coming artist. I found myself sitting here listening to this song on repeat and completely getting lost on when it actually began and ended, it just flows that well and has rhythms that are hypnotizing not to mention a vocal track that leaves you feeling a sense of tranquility along with the sheer beauty of the subtle harmonies scattered throughout “Looking for Love”. Listen to "Looking For Love" here and get to know more about MELA below! Hey Mela! You have a fantastic tone to your voice! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself? Wow, thank you so much! Hmm let's see, well I have red hair, I'm the oldest of seven kids, I'm super competitive, and my favorite way to end a night out is on the dance floor! Your voice sounds so refined and full of experience! When did you first start singing and how did you find your passion for music? Thank you so so much. That means the world to me. I started playing the violin when I was 5 years old, but I think I've always had a passion for music. My parents have a video of me singing all the words to "What's Up" by the 4 Non Blondes when I was 3 years old. It's just always been my favorite escape! I didn't start taking my singing seriously or writing music until I was about 12 or 13, though. Are there any inspirations that helped you write “Looking for Love” and what is the meaning behind the song? Absolutely. I wanted to write a love song that wasn't necessarily only about romantic love, but it can be tough. To find inspiration, I thought about the most important non-romantic relationships in my life- my siblings who are all my best friends, my parents, my friends, and all those who have supported me throughout my life so far. The world can be a scary place sometimes, and we all have moments when we're feeling low or drained. Those important people in my life are the ones I go to when I need to "recharge," and remember what's important before getting back out there and taking on the world. The song is a bit of a 'Thank you' to them, and a reminder that I am here for them as well. What made you change from a solo artist to enlisting the help of your sisters and creating Mela, with such a unique sound? Adding my sisters (Laura and Elizabeth Kelly) to the mix kind of happened naturally. I don't think I've ever written a song that they haven't heard at every single phase as it was coming to life. They are my biggest advocates and I trust their opinions more than anything. But, becoming 'MELA' was mostly about realizing that I could only get so far on my own. I'm 'ok' at a lot of things, but in order to be excellent- that takes a team. I'm so grateful for my sisters, my incredibly talented producer (Ryan Corn), and my band (Charles Meriot, Max Azarmehr, Greg Cignarella, Diana Wong). What’s next for Mela in 2019? More songs, more shows, and more fun! Please make sure you're following on Instagram and Spotify so you can find out when and where to hear our music or catch a show. Next concert is on May 28th at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. Thank you, Buzz Music! Love you guys. Sam has fans across the country who listen to his music on a monthly basis with over 70k streams on Spotify with no major label backing. “Dreamer” starts off as a very laid-back beat then picks up the pace shortly after, with catchy lyrics and vocals that are unique and harmonious. The beats are crisp, blend beautifully together and don’t take away from the meaning behind the rap. “Dreamer” is jam packed with lyrics that are extremely relatable like “24/7 I’m working, been focused on fillin’ my purpose” and “Shootin’ my shot and I hope Imma make it” touching on the possible hardships that ALFHA Sam listeners may be going through and creating a connection between artist, lyrics and audience. The flow of the lyrics is solid and you can tell that both vocalists are able to deliver the words with finesse, style and creative ways. “Dreamer” is an addicting mix of Hip-Hop and R&B that is soothing and exhilarating to listen to at the same time. This timeless but unique sound has me boppin’ my head, tapping my feet and feeling like I’m cruising in the summer sun on my bicycle. Finishing the song off on a solid note with softer and subtle humming that adds real character to this emotion filled and truth hitting song. Give a listen to "Dreamer" here, and scroll below for the artists exclusive interview! Hey ALFHA Sam! Fantastic to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself? My full name is Sam Lauderdale. I’m a 4th year college student at Sacramento State and i’m from South Sacramento in California. I was born September 9th 1997 and am currently 21 years old. I grew up in a single parent home with 3 older brothers that always pushed me to get better at anything I did. Because of my upbringing i’ve always had a competitive attitude to the point where I would do almost anything to be better than those around me in the things I took interest to. I’ve spent countless hours educating myself by reading and involving myself with educated people that can teach me new things. After I get my degree in Public Relations in about a year I plan on getting more heavily involved in the music industry. How did you first find your passion for making music? My family has always been heavily involved in listening to and appreciating good music. We grew up in the church so I was part of the children’s choir growing up and my oldest brother was the head of the adult choir. My oldest brother is actually a musician to this day. He inspired me to want to make music but I never actually took action until I was 15 and my friends who then became my future label mates helped me finally make the decision to start. We did a project where we had to make a music video in our AP US History class and the other students liked it and said we should take rap more seriously. Ever since then we’ve been constantly developing and practicing our craft so we can continue to put out great music. What inspired you to write “Dreamer” and what is the meaning behind it? Dreamer is about me thinking of how my current lifestyle is not quite where I want it to be so I continue to dream about the future. I just want to make music people can relate to and I feel like since we all have big dreams why not make a song about it so people can start thinking about what they are doing to achieve their dreams. With multiple artists working together, what is the creative process like and are there any challenges with working as a family unit? When I say it get’s creative, IT GETS CREATIVE! We often get together put on some beats and bounce ideas off of each other and just vibe. During these sessions we typically record our freestyles and try to salvage any dope melodies or lyrics we can. We (ALFHA Records) then proceed to put the freestyles into an actual cohesive song. Being a family unit is not easy though because when one of our members is down and out we all are because we tend to pool our resources together. But this just means when we make it our success will be that much more sweeter to enjoy with each other. What’s next for ALFHA Sam in 2019? Well for starters I have my first project that I will be dropping on May 31st. This project has been in the works for about 2 years but I finally gathered all the resources to put it together. I plan on trying to grow my monthly listeners to 100k a month by the end of the year. In my mind if I can do that i’ll have impacted enough people with my meaningful music that the word will start to spread at a rate so rapid that it can’t be stopped! #ALFHARECORDS Catch up with ALFHA via the artists Instagram! #BuzzMusic

Working towards the “small miracles” of joy to help change the world, she hopes to share her instrumental music to help heal, soothe, motivate, and inspire others enduring pain, by giving fans a musical hug and making them feel uplifted and connected to their inner-selves, whilst listening and through introspection. “Shelter in the Storm” beautifully executes Meghan’s mission of providing music to heal and comfort listeners. “Our hands are holding tight, to get us through the night, oh you’re my shelter in the storm” is my favourite line from her new song. It provides a feeling of ease, support, and positive spirit. Meghan’s lyrics have a calm nature and deep meaning behind every word, which makes her a great artist to listen to on the days you need some extra healing, joy, or motivation to get you through a stressful day. We highly recommend checking out Meghan's new single here, and keep scrolling for her personalized interview with us at BuzzMusic! Hi Meghan! It's great to chat with you. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Thank you Buzz Music so much for having me. This is actually my first interview -- woo hoo! So exciting. A little bit about me. My family moved to the Orlando area when I was 11. I grew up in the small suburb of Winter Springs, Florida. I have been singing since the age of 5. I used to walk around my house singing and dancing to "Annie". My father is very musical -- he plays guitar and sings as well. He raised me around a lot of music, mostly his, which is why I am not surprised that eventually songwriting found me -- and kept me. I am actually a classically trained opera singer, so my story is a little different. I moved to New York to pursue a career in Broadway/Opera but found myself falling in love with songwriting instead. I have been living in NYC for the past seven years; after I moved here I auditioned and worked on TV/film sets as an extra. I found myself stuck in my bedroom with my guitar writing songs as an emotional outlet, but one day I woke up and realized hey this could be an actual thing for me. I view songwriting as a way to help the world and the people of the world. Music is the ultimate medicine in my opinion, and since I am too scared to ever be a doctor I think of this as another way to help the population, and to do something greater than anything I could've ever imagined. Which artists have been the greatest impact on you and your musical career? When I was little, my father and his family would always have sing-a-longs around the campfire with James Taylor, John Denver, The Bee Gees, and Simon and Garfunkel. I can tell you those have stuck with me, and really created who I am and the music I make today. Other influences that I really look up to and try to emulate are Karen Carpenter, Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, and Regina Spektor. I am so moved and inspired by the way these women tell their different stories in different ways, it really connects me to them. Do you think that living in different parts of the USA has made a difference in who you are as a person & artist? I love this question. I moved so many times in my childhood. I was born in Palo Alto, CA and soon after moved to Gaithersburg, MD where my family lived for 5 years. My father then took an overseas assignment to the UK where I enjoyed 3 and one half years living among English friends. After the UK we moved back to MD for two years and then onto Orlando, FL where I spent the majority of my childhood. I totally think my music is influenced by all the different places I have lived. I was very involved in theater while living in the UK, and I think that those experiences being a child who was exposed to so much art definitely plays into the fact that I have a very good storytelling aspect with my writing and performing. What made you realize that music was your calling? I have known since I was little that music was my calling. I remember seeing my first Broadway show, and being so inspired. I also remember seeing my first concert and feeling so uplifted and inspired that I couldn't even put it into words. Being raised in a musical family that catered to my talents also gave me great support and led me to choosing music as a career. Tell us the meaning behind your single “Shelter in the Storm”? Shelter in the Storm is one of the first songs I ever wrote after I decided to pursue songwriting. I wrote it when I first moved to NYC. I was longing, hoping, wishing for the right person to walk into my life after so many wrong ones did. This song to me is the dreamy epitome of the perfect partner -- someone who will stay with you through the storms, and comfort you during the hard times. I call this my "campfire love song" because it is such a declaration of what we all want to find in our lives -- the perfect person who wants nothing more than to be our "Shelter in the Storm". How is “Shelter in the Storm” unique from your different singles? Shelter is actually very unique -- first of all it's one of my few upbeat songs. I find myself writing more emotional and deep songs these days. Even though I have found my "Shelter in the Storm" which I used to dream about having (I have been with my partner Michael for about 2 years now), there are other issues and problems I am driven to write about. I have been writing more about change, and the hard times we go through as humans. I think it is very important to be real with your listeners -- that is how you get your listeners to be so interested in your music. If my music can help someone get through a breakup or a loss, then I have ultimately done my job. I really want to write bigger and better with every new song. What's next for you through 2019? I plan to release my EP soon. I will record my last song for the EP in June. The song I am recording is different than my other songs. It is a song about grief – specifically losing someone special to you on this earth. I wrote this song after I experienced the death of my former theatre director from back home in early 2019. I performed it at his funeral which was surreal. I also have some live shows coming up including one at Rockwood which I am super stoked about. I am also working on my album which is going to have a very intense subject of women being abused based on my personal experience. Now that we are in this era of "Me too" I feel like it's time for me to tell my story. I want to do this in a very personal way and to use this as an experience to heal from the pain that I've been through. I hope it can help other women too. I am also hoping to release a movie, or possibly do a live performance alongside the album just to do something a little different with it visually/theatrically since I have those skills. - Be Swept Away By The Gentle Tides Of Tayrn
There are two fundamental ways to describe the enigmatic British singer/songwriter/producer Jamie Linney aka Tayrn (pronounced 'Tay-ren'). One, he has hazel eyes, and more importantly, he is a musical maestro! For anyone seeking to partake in and relish the incomparable pleasure to be gained from listening to a solid body of artistic genius , Tayrn’s self -produced debut album Tides is a sure way to ascend to musical nirvana. The gentle but poignant instrumentation, the subtly pulsating keys and the riveting synths all make for a truly commendable collection of well-written and expertly-produced compositions. The combination of relaxing tempos and delicate facets of urban contemporary influences stealthily but doggedly erodes our consciousness and inadvertently sends us cascading down a psychedelic waterfall. Songs such as the eerily engaging “I’m Alright” ,with its rebellious tone and haunting background vocals, are reminiscent of 80’s Dream Pop but with a millenial twist. “How Much You Mean” , a beautiful collaboration with Emma Bieniewicz, is an ethereal and melodic declaration of love and acceptance. There is so much diversity in the album’s thematic exploration - love, loss, loneliness- that Tides makes for the perfect coming-of-age soundtrack. At the same time, it also caters to the more mature listener - serving as a musical accompaniment to any rite of passage in life. There are many words that could be used to describe Tayrn's Tides - I am partial to transcendent and breathtaking. Listen here for Tayrn's "How Much You Mean", and continue scrolling for the artists interview! Tayrn, thank you for chatting with us! Can you tell us a bit about yourself! Thanks for having me! I am 21 and based in the UK. Been singing for 4 years, writing for 2 years and producing for 2 years. Your music is so atmospheric. Tides is like a lit candle in a once dark room. You can feel the emotions in all 8 tracks. What was the writing process like? What kind of atmosphere did you create to get such pleasing results? My writing process varies with each track, sometimes I will start with lyrics and I will have a firm idea of what the track will be about. Other times it’s very unconscious and seems to fall out when I hit record. Im inspired heavily by photography, films and life events. My goal was to write 8 songs that were engaging and honest. In terms of the atmosphere whilst creating these songs there was pure excitement. You write, sing and produce! A jack of all trades. What part of the creative process do you favour the most and why? My favourite part is definitely the writing side of it. I love the idea of having a completely blank slate and making something that people can relate to and benefit from, whilst expressing what I need to. Having said that I do like a good nerdy chat about production! Who are your biggest musical influences and why? My biggest musical influences would be a lot of folk and chill electronic music. Early 1975, Haux and Lauv to name a few. The 1975 have always impressed me with there conversational lyrics. Haux and Lauv inspire my production style and inspire me to be a better producer. How is the rest of 2019 looking for Tayrn? What goals do you have? Planning to put some more music out there! Planning to keep writing, recording and growing ‘Tayrn’. Toward the ends of this year I hope to be playing live and have a merch line available. Connect further with Tayrn via the artists socials: Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic
- Dolore Releases New Hit "Still Hungry"
Dolore is a prominent hip-hop artist from Florida who is determined to make a statement for himself. Dolore’s determination and grind set him apart from other hip-hop artists, coming out with his second solo project in less than a year! His lyricism style is raw, self-evaluating, and authentic. He has a feel good rhythm that gives off strong party vibes. My favourite hit on his newest project is called “Still Hungry” which provides a pleasing blend of his catchy rhythm and exceptionally crafted lyrics. “Still Hungry” is intense and hype, giving the listener a powerful adrenaline rush that will leave you feeling unstoppable. The most ardent verse that Dolore comes out with in “Still Hungry” is “Real recognize real 'can' feel what's inside/ 'hard' to swallow the truth/ 'even harder' with pride". What is so impactful about this verse is the meaning behind the lyrics. It's deep, real, and it gives something for the listener to reflect on. Dolore is highly dope as an artist and an individual, which is the key to great music. I highly recommend that you check out his other hits, and keep your eyes open for future releases! Listen to "Still Hungry" here and get to know more about Dolore below! Hey Dolore! Can you tell us more about yourself and your upbringing? From Orlando, Florida. Grew up in a strict Italian home but in a rough neighborhood. Got into drugs at a young age and eventually hit rock bottom. One night I was arrested falsely (the cops planted the drug on me) for the one drug I had a problem with. Took it as a sign from God, turned my life around (been sober 6 years now) and decided to give my music a positive, motivational spin to it. How were you able to come out with 2 projects in one year? Lots of inspiration and long nights in the studio and to be honest lots of dope features lol. What is the message that you want to get across with your track “Still Hungry”? That even tho I've been doin my thing musically for so long and the games changed so much I'm still hungry to make it and even tho I've been through a lot im still hungry to do Gods work. What inspired you to write “Still Hungry”? I ran into an old friend who I haven't seen in a long time and he says "damn fam you still rap??" "How?" Lol Because we used to rap together and he no longer does. So all i could say was "I'm still hungry" Who are your biggest influences on your musical career? Nas, OutKast, Dead Prez and Lecrae.
