Katana is an eclectic, 23 year-old, songwriter from London. She’s a talented alternative hip-hop singer with a range to die for. Katana grew up in Moscow, Russia, but after high school she moved to the UK to study Filmmaking at Central Saint Martins. Her ambition and unique surroundings drove her to pursue her dream of becoming a recording artist. Katana’s is an artistic alter-ego whose idiosyncratic talent and soul-filled lyrics fuse together to create a mesmerizing vibe. Katana’s debut single “Blame” is the first to be released from her upcoming EP “No Feelings”. The heavy and deliberate beat is alluring and sets up the alternative hip-hop aesthetic. Hey! Can you start by introducing yourself? I’m Katana, I’m a singer and songwriter based in London. However, my real name is Anastasia and I was born in Moscow, Russia. I moved to London at the age of fifteen and was quickly inspired by the freedom that London’s diversity brings. Having so much left unsaid, I started writing songs, which I filled with my feelings, emotions and secrets. Katana is my alter ego. It is my way of letting out those fears and weaknesses that I, as Anastasia, wouldn’t have let out. Historically, Katana was one of the Japanese swords that were used by the samurai. Katana was an elegant, yet deadly weapon, and I feel like that is exactly what I want my music to be: beautiful on the outside, yet deep and strong on the inside. I create lyrics and melodies that can connect to those, who can feel. Katana is more than just a nickname for me, it is my weapon against my demons. Your voice is so incredible and individual! What age did you start singing? You know, I always wanted to sing and I always knew I could, but as a kid I was very unconfident about my strengths. My parents were always my biggest support and thanks to them, I finally had my first singing lesson at the age of twelve and it all began there. You know, as most of us, singers, I too took part in those silly singing competitions, studied musical grammar, had piano lessons and so on. However, looking back to all that experience, I can confidently say that none of it developed me as an artist. It literally took me 23 years to come out of the shell, and today I’m only starting my journey. What’s the meaning behind your new single “Blame”? At first, “Blame” might seem like a song about broken heart. Yet, for me, it is so much more than that. It is about all my past relationships, about issues that I had and troubles I had caused. It’s about my battle with myself, my fears and my demons. It’s about trusting someone and not trusting yourself. It is about blaming someone for what they’ve done to you. I mean, we all have this person, who we put the blame on. In my case, this person is myself. “Blame” is a conversation with my past, at the end of which I own up to my actions and words. I truly believe that everyone, who ever been in love, heartbroken, misunderstood or hurt will deeply connect to this song in their own way. I hope that it will motivate people to move forward leaving their past behind. What would be your dream collaboration? There are so many talented souls that inspire me everyday. Aretha, Nina, Lennon, Dylan, Otis, Marvin, Johnny - these are the timeless artists, who have influenced on me big time. If there was a time machine and you’d ask me the same question, these are the people who I would be honoured to just talk to, can’t even imagine what it feels like to collaborate with them. They all had that deepness and mindfulness in their song, which I feel like a lot of artists nowadays are missing. Personally, new artists like Leon Bridges, XXXtentation, poor soul, 070 Shake, Frank Ocean and Sampha are the incredible talents that I would love to collaborate with. I feel like we all have this same ability to just cut the chest open and fearlessly take the heart in front of everyone. What can we expect from your new EP? My EP “London” is going to be released in July 2019. It consists of six songs and is definitely going to take you on an emotional journey. Each song was written in a certain period of my life in London and each song is driven by a different emotion. It has everything from hip hop beats to soulful melodies. It is about my obsessions and inner demons, my secrets and fears. London is my home. It is also the place where I felt the most miserable and the strongest. London is the place where I finally faced myself. I hope it will connect to all those lost and found, or yet to be found souls out there and make them feel fearless and powerful. LOS is a unique upcoming duo based in West London who consists of the two artists; Cokeboy and Kush. Not fully sticking to one genre, LOS prides themselves in their unique ability to create different vibes in their music which they feel can appeal to a wide audience of all ages and can only describe their music as their own style. The two met in school and both shared the same passion for music rather the genre was Hip-Hop, Rock, or even Pop. LOS found a way to learn songs and re-create them to their own style. Cokeboy got the party started for the duo as he was the first to release a song in early 2016, an R’n’B song Titled 'Like That' on his own Soundcloud channel which was shortly after removed and turned into the LOS channel. That channel was then used to present the first collaborative project by LOS in mid 2016 called “Smoking Loud” which has been removed since. From then LOS released 11 songs on Soundcloud as well as featuring in Freddy Spinach's single 'Rockstar' and releasing the 'Ride With It' video; which currently has around 19.5k views. LOS released their newest single titled ‘Ride With It’ and we watched the video alongside listening to the addicting song. In the video, “Ride With It” begins with an artistic presentation of the duo’s name presented in spray paint. The music instantly begins and captures you for the moment due to the aggressive, dark trap bass with a melodic R’n’B vocal in the beginning before half of the duo begins rapping. LOS sings in the hook while rapping in the verses which presents a multi-dimensional aspect to the song. They take you for a surprise by allowing both artists to showcase their own rap style in the song, while allowing the listener to tell both of them apart while still hearing the unity in the duo. The song was nicely executed and the visuals were pleasing to the eye due to the attractive and appealing choice of fashion and use of cars. “Ride With It” is a stylistic song and we’re sure many people will love it! What separates you from one another? Musically, LOS Cokeboy is more of a vocalist and loves experimenting with different ways of using his voice. As he has a higher voice between the two it is quite easy to notice the difference when listening to our music. Cokeboy is known for having dreadlocks as well being signed to ‘TMA Management’ as a model. LOS Ksh is more known for having a lower voice, and is musically more of a lyricist, he like to use different flows and switch things us. Tell us about the single “Ride With It”, and the meaning behind it? Our single ‘Ride With It’ is a song that is really significant for us as a group as it was made and released at the same time we changed our name from ‘Los Boys’ to ‘LOS’. It represents  our growth as a duo and shows how LOS are here for the long run. The song is about loyalty in LOS and is generally just gives a glimpse of what we got in store for this 2019. What inspired you both to write this? This song literally came off of good vibes, we were in the studio with Cxsmic and wanted to just make a upbeat party song. Cxsmic did his thing and started making this crazy melody, we  started freestyling and both came up with different hooks that somehow worked together well- and thought instead of choosing 1, we might as well use both. That's when we knew this song was a banger; it wasn't focused on us as individuals but us as a group and from then we knew this was going to be a LOS anthem. Who are some of your key influences and why? Living in London we always had loads of music around us, whether it be Grime, Pop or Rock music has always been all around us which makes it hard to choice key influences but as a collective we would have to choice acts like: N-Dubz NWA Linkin Park Michael Jackson Rae Sremmurd J Cole Growing up, we've always had this edge about us, we listened to all the mainstream artists that was popping when we were younger like N Dubz, Tinie Tempah and Labrinth to even groups like Black Eyed Peas, but as we both know how to play instruments, we’ve always loved rock and punk music and the overall rockstar lifestyle. I know this may be surprising but before we were LOS we use to cover rock songs in a band- songs from artists such as: Linkin Park, Papa Roach and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. As we grew up we then started listening to more rap artists like J Cole and Rae Sremmurd and the one thing that pushed us massively to starting LOS was actually after watching ‘Straight Outta Compton’. What’s next for you? What to expect? What's not to expect? LOS is going to be dropping more music, more videos, more freestyles, more shows and now clothes, as LOS is now getting developed into a Fashion Label as well as just music. Brother. is an up and coming indie alternative rock band from Provo, Utah. The band consists of Chuck Emery, Tyler Gooch, Erika Goodwin and Nathan Standage. They've got trippy soundscapes, heavy harmonies, groovy bass lines and catchy passionate choruses, perfect for today's day and age. All this is evident in their newest single “Without It”. It is kind of hard to truly pinpoint but their sound has elements for all kinds of listeners. Their more modern elements sound similar to bands like MGMT, Tame Impala, The Beaches, Arctic Monkeys and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. Their older influences sound similar to bands like The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, J Mascis + The Fog, Marcy Playground and Hole. The best is yet to come for this band from Utah. Can you tell our readers about yourselves and how Brother formed? Howdy! Brother. was originally a 3 piece folk band. As we gained a larger following and began playing bigger shows we shifted gears to a now 4 piece Indie rock band. We have been playing as the 4 piece for about 3 years now. Congratulations on your new song "Without It", can you tell us the meaning and inspiration behind it? Thank you! "Without It" was taken with a very different writing approach than our older material. "Without It" is based on the superhero The Flash and his arch nemesis the Reverse Flash and their relationship. It's about wanting to kill your enemy but you also need that enemy to live. It's a cool story. Look it up. How is this release different than songs you've released in the past? We released our first music video with "Without It", directed by True Demille. It plays off of time travel (big part of the Flash series) and it's all done in one continuous shot. What/who are some of the key influences your band channels their creativity from? Vintage sounds. It seems like everything back in the day grooved. We channel a lot of that with in our new music. Channel the groove. Some other influences come from new gear and experimental recording techniques. What's next for Brother through 2019? We can't wait to hear what's next! We have done some really cool things this year but we have another music video for our song "Greys" coming out and we should have a new single out from our next album "Volume II" out before the years end. Miles Ray-Burks, better known as 100 Miles, is from St. Louis but now an alias of L.A. This hip hop artist is also a self taught producer. He creates rap music and independent beat mixtapes using his own swag. After releasing two debut singles back in 2016, he fell in love with the creative process and dedicated himself to his own artistry and 100 Miles was born! His musical influences are Kid Cudi and Earl Sweatshirt. His most recent creation and our song to tune into is “White Space”! I truly love the treatment of this song. There is a unnatural yet natural feel to it that gives you the best of music and spoken word. Although lyrics are similar to poetry, there is nothing like spoken word. And to blend it with music is truly genius. I feel like spoken word is becoming an endangered species and only the realest survive it. Floetry is a group that blends this well! I enjoy the vocal choice in this particular song. Her octave and tone is perfect for this feature. I love the lyricism in this as well. To hear music and get a feel or mood from it instead of just hearing the same “trends” is a breath of fresh air. “White Space” allows you to get captured in a moment where you are vibing with a poet. Listen to 100 Miles' new single "white Space" here and get to know him below! Hello! Do you mind introducing yourself to our readers? I go by 100 Miles and I’m originally from St. Louis. I’ve moved back and forth from the Lou to LA for most of my life. My mom moved out here with my sister and I for the first time back in 2007. I moved back to STL in 2010 and I started writing poetry in 5th grade English. From then on, I wrote all the time and moved back to LA in 2014. Throughout my life I dealt with a lot of abuse from many angles and, as a result, struggle with things like anxiety, depression and PTSD. These mental illnesses were and are the main reason I began creating. I wasn’t allowed to feel things outwardly so anything I felt or thought I was forced to hold onto and keep inside. After a while one can only take so much so, I created whatever I could. Poetry and music are what stuck with me the strongest so, I started making music back in 2017 while I was a part of this poetry group called Get Lit Words Ignite after my friend Atlas Speaks shot me a couple extra beats he had. I released my first song, Sinister, in July of 2017 and then started producing my own beats in November or December that same year. A couple months after I entered the world of production, I released my first EP Muted Colors on March 16, 2018. From then on, I spent the next year working on my latest album White Space which came out March 18, 2019. What got you into creating your particular style of music? For a while I had a hard time finding music I really connected with and when I did it was often few and far between. As I mentioned I wrote a lot of poetry and things like that so feelings were in abundance for me and given I knew I felt these things I figured someone else out there also felt something similar. My main focus in music is to normalize the broad spectrum of human emotions. Not everyone feels the same or to the same intensity so I want to give those that feel like they have to hide behind a wall the understanding that connecting with what you feel is a good thing. Even if those feelings aren’t happy or “positive.” We're big fans of your latest single “White Space”! Can you tell us a bit about the song? White Space is the intro song to my album titled “White Space.” The song takes various idealistic forms but the main direction it takes is a guide to the rest of the album. The making of this album was a parallel to Muted Colors in the sense that I took my time this time around. I was so stressed to get it out and be the best and do this and say these things and make it like this, that I started to lose touch with what it really means to make things and WHY I fell in love with music. My close friend, Lady Unloved, is the vocalist for the first half of the song and she wrote that section beautifully. I really love how she executed it. She has her own meaning for it and why she wrote it but when I hear it that’s what I connect it with. My verse touches on the intersections I’ve had with Blackness, wanting/searching for change, and love/intimacy. The fear of falling in love and that exhilarating feeling of connectivity being matched with the terror of what could happen to you as a Black person in Amerikkka gives a direct summary of what I said in the verse. What was the inspiration behind "White Space"? The inspiration behind White Space was a mix of the relationship I was building at the time, being in very racially tense environments, the constant brutality being shown by police in communities and on the news and, trying to remind myself where and who I come from. I really wanted the music to ensnare what the album would give you emotionally. Where do you hope your music career takes you? I hope and believe my music career will take me to places that will allow me to return the wealth and knowledge I accumulate to the people that gave me the support I needed at the hardest points of life and the communities I’ve been a part of overtime. I hope it will allow me inspire people to stop accepting the death of their dreams and believe in what is right. Fuck societal standards and beliefs. Be who YOU are and develop and grow into the person you are meant to. I hope to tell all the kids that doubt themselves exactly that and give them the tools to do exactly that. What's next for you through 2019? Main goal of 2019 is to play more shows, network with people and make some new music. I’ve been working on some visuals for the album and I have some new tracks I recently finished that may come out later this year. Been thinking of making a lo-fi beat tape also, but we’ll see. Hailing from the UK, after the dissolution of two of his bands, feeling the emotional cracks that caused, vocalist and musician Geo Moon decided to create his very own piece of work, a 12 track solo album entitled “12 Years Of Patience”, written, produced, and mixed/ mastered by Geo himself. Off that album comes the new single “Broken Man” . Gigging with just an acoustic guitar and the library of songs from “12 Years Of Patience”, Geo met Phil, who would eventually become his lead guitarist, and then came Nick on bass guitar, and the final puzzle piece was Lynn on drums. Geo now had a full band to support in allowing his audience to feel the full vibe of the music he had written as a result of such a negative time in his life. Of course not without a few setbacks, mainly health issues on the part of Phil the lead guitarist, and the possible need for some session musicians to fill the gap that Phil has left. In the meantime the band is busy writing and preparing their second album. “12 Years Of Patience” and especially the track “Broken Man” are a trip down memory lane, with vocals as well as the instrumental track being very reminiscent of the early to mid 2000’s Alt-Rock meets Rap, not unlike System Of A Down meeting the “Hybrid Theory” era of Linkin Park. With powerful guitar riffs set to a great beat, the melding of the Rock and Rap is seamless in this single. The lyrics in this track are speaking to the modern social media world we live in, about how we’re always looking back at things in the past and how we live life dependent on our screens and the amount of engagement we receive online, never allowing us to be fully whole, culminating in the last line of the chorus “I wish I could find myself to have, to have some fun, but I’m the broken man”. There’s a little something for everyone in “Broken Man”, whether you’re into the Alt-Rock scene, love melodic rap interludes, or you’re looking to find that classically illusive Linkin Park sound you’ve been missing, Geo Moon knows how to hit the audience right in the feels while still allowing them to rock out. My music career? Well, music was a great discovery in my life. It can do something to somebody that can only be compared to magic. What would this world even be without it. My father was a drummer, so naturally I was fascinated. All of my friends and family would tell you about me running around the house as a little kid, with my face painted to look like a member of the rock band “Kiss”, or they would tell you that I banged on any surface I could pretend was a drum. I don’t really remember those days. I was very young. Looking back on it now I feel I picked up that skill quickly and naturally. I believe any good drummer, and not just limited to “good drummer’s, but anyone who feels comfortable at a certain skill, would say that some things come more natural for some, than others. I believe “drumming” or rhythm, I should say, was one of those things for me. I know for sure the rhythm is within me.  I’m thankful for my family, my friends, the amazing artists, or whomever showed me or created the great music that has had great influence and inspiration for me over the years. For music alone, over the years. That’s what I’ve wanted to be remembered as for a long time now. I wanna be someone who contributes to that happening. I remember writing my own melodies and lyrics very young. I had a very fantasized dreamer, creative mind growing up. It was a terrible mix for getting good grades in school. Music was the only subject that spoke to me. Tell us about “Who Else” and the the meaning behind the song? The concept for “who else” is about what will be, or has already been told to all of us in one shape or form in our lives. You have to fall flat on your face, fail, or be humiliated once or twice or more at something, before you can really have success with it. You can’t fear this stage of let downs in your journey.  If you do, you miss the true meaning of those times or moments and  doubt sinks in. You have to keep moving forward with the conviction that failure is not an option. With due time, those who chose to be brave, will reflect back on those days when they have reached their height, and really understand how it all happened. Could you live with yourself if you never went for it? There are those that can’t and those that can. Which one are you? For me, the song is somewhat of an inner monologue manifesto. I would chose this path again and again, I just have to go for it and have faith as a believer, it’s  going to be worth it. How is this release different than songs you've released in the past? This release in a lot of ways is my first serious attempt at creating a career for myself in music. People tell you to do what you love so you never have to work a day in your life. Well, I personally don’t think that’s true, but if all I had to do in my life everyday was wake up and donate 40 hrs a week to music then I could see that be a really enjoyable exciting time for me. I just want to get the world dancing and singing along. I want to know what that feels like. That’s what I’ve planned for. I hope more than one of these songs off the album will do that to someone. I want “who else” to ignite that. What inspired you to write “Who Else” ? The creation of the record happened over a process. I found the beat probably almost a year or more ago and knew it was going to a track immediately. I remember the chorus and the first verse spilling right out of me. The concept of the song formed rather quickly. When that big of a chuck pours out of you, the chunk being the hook and first verse, you have to commit to following with correct or in the same concept material and finish the song. It was during a period in my life that went with the analogy of one step forward, two steps back. Yes, a little bit of good news, progression or good vibes, only to be followed by a double dose of let downs and short comings of sorry’s but try again. My frame of mind luckily, would just brake short from driving over the edge and await patiently to rise back up  for a valiant second attempt when the timing presented itself. What’s next for you? Too much. I understand why all these artists or celebrities have a “team” behind them. It takes skill in a lot of different subjects to have success with this and that doesn’t even include having any actual musical talent. But I’m having fun not just recording. It’s  a thrill learning all the avenues. The art, the communicating, the creating, the recording, the marketing. I’m going to release the ep in it’s entirety and follow that with a couple of music videos and try everything I can to get booked for more shows. My sets are authentic and I take a lot of  pride in that. I have a lot of ideas for live acts and were only in the infancy, essentially of my playing out phase. From there it’s going to be only a little time for a break before I’m back recording in the studio. The follow up project is already all written so much sooner than later. My best wishes is that you’ll find the time to discover my music and give it a listen, to decide if it’s something that’s for you or not. The catalog is a short list, but just the little bit of platform and following I’ve seen from the last couple of months, makes music worth a relentless pursuit of mine to continue. Silver Citizen are an alternative rock band from Brisbane, Australia. Comprised of three members Jimmy Wenham on lead vocals and guitar, Andy Kellie on bass and vocals and David Hensler, also known as as “Double Kick Dave” on drums. The group creates a unique and fresh sound for today’s rock scene. Silver Citizen offers a heavy and deliberate arrangement of rock with harmonically-rich vocals and flawless delivery. Their sound has previously been compared to other well known rock bands such as Stone Temple Pilots and Rage Against The Machine. Their newest single “Years Behind Me” showcases Silver Citizen’s expansive talent as a whole. The guitar riffs that Jimmy delivers are hypnotic and precise. We are Silver Citizen - a three-piece rock trio from Brisbane, Australia. With Jimmy Wenham on lead vocals/guitar, Andy Kellie (Blind Lucy) on bass/vocals, and David “Double Kick Dave” Hensler (Apate) on drums. We formed early 2016 as a reincarnation of our previous musical project (Zelita), and have refined our new sound to deliver solid Alt Rock with New Age, Hip-Hop/Rap Rock and Pop influences. Andy and Jimmy met through a mutual friend (Zelita’s Guitarist, Daniel Hilder) and started our first band together, Zelita. A few years later, our drummer unfortunately had to part ways to pursue his physics career overseas. That is when we discovered David, whose mum worked with Jimmy at the time and recommended David to have a jam with us, as most good mums do. We’ve been together ever since, with the slight adjustments of a name change, minus a lead guitarist (who also moved interstate for work) and a new sound. What’s your writing process like? Do you write your own music or collab with others? We have a very simple writing process. Usually Jimmy or Andy will write 80% of a song then present it to the band. From there, everyone else will give their input to put the icing on the “Silver Citizen cake”. It’s also fun to leave a bit of writing space for the recording process as well; there’s always some creative input the moment we start tracking the song in Pro Tools and it usually ends up becoming our favorite part too. What’s the meaning behind “Years Behind Me”? What inspired it? ‘Years Behind Me’ is about reflecting on your past and thinking about the moments and situations where you could have done something different. Everyone has moments in their life where they could have been a better or different person. The underlying message of the song is to understand that there’s nothing wrong with having moments that still haunt you today. If you as a person don’t have any regrets or moments that haunt you, then you either haven’t grown up or learned from your mistakes. Having those haunting memories makes us human, and they make us better people. What’s the origin of the name Silver Citizen? We started with a few different names that were rattled off early in our conception (Fire In the Fridge,The Participants etc.). We ended up sort of combining a couple of ideas to create “Silver Citizen”. It’s a bit of word play on “Second Class Citizen”, a nice double-barrel with tasty alliteration. What’s your favorite song to perform live, why? Our favourite song to play live has always been ‘Now We Groove’, ever since the day we wrote it. It’s just one of those songs that always feels good to play and makes us smile. If we are ever having a bad night on stage, the turning point is always that song - for whatever reason it just resonates good vibes through the band and that translates to the audience too. What's next for Silver Citizen through 2019? Who knows… we don’t haha. We will be doing a couple of shows in Brisbane and the Gold Coast to promote the new song ‘Years Behind Me’ (we’ll be playing a Brisbane Single Launch show Thursday April 18th at The Foundry, and the following Friday April 26th will be playing our first show at the Gold Coast at Currumbin Pub). We also do have a few songs in the pipeline – we might choose to do a dance or metal song for our next single, it all depends on whether we feel like shaking things up. Can you tell us a bit more about growing up in Siberia and how it inspired you to move to LA and create music? I never thought I would be living in LA nor doing what I love. Growing up in Siberia, I somehow always knew I was not going to stay there for long. My family raised me to believe that everything was possible no matter where you are at, that’s why I never felt like I was trapped in one place and there was no way out. But I always knew that I wanted to do music for a living, and somehow I ended studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston where I met a lot of incredible musicians. While studying there I went to L.A as a tourist and fell in love with the passion inside the city. It felt like everyone was trying to achieve something big. It was a no brainer; I left Berklee and came straight to L.A to pursue my career. “They Ain’t Got It Right” is an awesome song! What’s the main message behind it? Thanks! I remember back in school when I would tell my teachers that I wanted to be a full-time musician, they would laugh at me and tell me that it is not a real profession and I should stop playing around... Or when people would talk behind my back saying that my voice is not good enough, that my songs are boring and my face isn’t photogenic enough; It wasn’t easy to keep believing in myself. This song is for those moments when you feel down but deep inside you know “They Ain’t Got It Right” and you keep pushing towards your goal. How do you feel when you perform “They Ain’t Got It Right”? I feel very empowered whenever I perform this song. There are so many people out there struggling and feeling down because of what others say or think about them, and I believe this song can give them confidence and make them feel better about themselves. If you could collaborate with any artist who would you choose? Why? I’m obsessed with the band called Honne! Whenever I listen to their music it takes me to another dimension and makes me forget about everything. Is there a full EP in your future? For now, I’m focusing more on releasing music as often as possible but there might be an EP in the future as well! Wrongchilde (ex-Kill Hannah) and Rain Man (ex-Krewella) have teamed up to make a pure jam in every sense of the word. “EARTHQUAKE” is the song of this year that everyone has been waiting for and the accompanying music video is the perfect Saturday night that we all wish we could have... all the time! The L.A. summer vibes are prevalent, the beat building up to a very powerful and memorable drop that makes you want a convertible with a subwoofer in the back seat. That mix will be stuck in your head for the next week, in the best way possible. The perfectly executed beat and tantalizing synth aside, the song has a deeper meaning that we can all can relate to. Wrongchilde says about his experience moving from New York to L.A. "After the initial crush wore off I was missing my people and I was convinced that 9 out of 10 people here are lost, vapid and utterly insane. Anyone who lives here can tell you that it can oscillate between paradise and wasteland, minute by minute. Mile by mile.” The lyrics “I seen ‘em walk on the bones of friends, I seen ‘em dance on burning bridges” is a testament to how Wrongchilde felt while in the writing process, but shows that something amazing can come out of that. He is back to loving the city, however in a more all encompassing way, dark shadows and all. The music video reflects these sentiments as well. Finding a land owner (the one with the flamethrower) in the desert that was willing to let a group of people with cameras and pyrotechnics from L.A. use their property is one thing, but whom also owns a dome (seen prominently in the beginning of the video) and a track for the more action packed scenes, who also happened to be a “pyromaniac at heart”, says Wrongchilde, was a stroke of luck. Never mind having a tree shipped in from 150 miles away just to torch, or gathering the necessary permits, permissions, cooperation from the local fire department, pyrotechnicians, and a personal crew, the effort definitely shows. The visuals are stunning and the editing is flawless. It presents you with every emotion you could possibly feel, from destruction to triumph and back again. The artistry of the shots and the use of contrast, especially with the fire in a completely black desert sky, mixed with the earthy tones of any daylight scenes is pleasing to the eye and dreamy to the heart. This is rock! The drums are banging, the guitars are whaling and the lead singer is laying down the verses with skill and then BAM! surprises you as he powerfully bellows out a set of lyrics. “All Alone” is a fun jam (even with its darker context) that will have you singing and actively clapping your hands along; because really- we want to join in and be part of the chorus on this one! The song rallies you, if you were sitting down when you started listening, you’re defiantly going to be on your feet by the end- dancing, bouncing, kicking or all of the above (just don’t kick the stereo over). Can you start by introducing yourselves and what roll you have in Me Like Bees? It comes from Psalm 118 in The Bible. It has a real Pulp Fiction feel that we dug How does the creative process work for you guys? How does a song come about for you? Well for All Alone we were kind of just jamming out together in the practice space. A lot of times that’s how our practices will go; we’ll be playing songs for our set and then someone will bring a part or a song they’ve been working on and it’ll just kind of grow from there. All Alone was really a group effort and we love the way it turned out. “All Alone” is a catchy tune and it really does make the listener move (hands, feet, head), it’s hard not to nod along- but the lyrics are more on the drearier side? How did you make these contrasting elements work SO well? That’s been an M.O for us as we’ve grown as a band. We always want to write about important things and things that matter to us, but we also want our music to be fun to listen to. That’s why we like that blend and we think we are at our best when that’s happening. You guys are about to head out on tour this May with Peelander-Z, what are you most looking forward to being on this tour?
