- Benjii Released The Perfect Escape Single, “California”
Benjii released his single titled “California” and despite the breezy laid back vibe of California, he wrote this song in a dark place in his life where he was feeling helpless stuck in the moment, and in the need of an escape. Those numbing feelings everyone experiences during the in-between spaces in life was the type of place Benjii was in. Benjii is a huge fan of John Mayer so most of the guitar arrangement in “California” was inspired by him and stylishly modified by the amazing Ryan Worsley. Ryan played a pivotal role in sculpting a rather dated sounding demo into a lush, modern pop track. “California” is highly ethereal, and the hazy aura that surrounds the song brings the cooling aesthetic of California together, while passionately displaying poetic lyricism that serves as a reflection of melancholy, and sadness. The guitar chords in California has a way of abducting you inside the music. You receive goosebumps from the warm vocal resonance from Benjii. The lyrics shift between reality and fantasy, playing on what-if’s and daydreaming of the greener side. From our listener's perspective, we interpreted from “California” that the song discusses themes of hopelessness and searching for a meaning. The feeling of becoming numb and placing yourself in a state of nomad is what we got from listening to this chilling yet hauntingly gorgeous record. Benjii is an incredible artist who knows how to cultivate a sound truly so special and “California” completely compelled us. Listen to "California here and get to know more about Benjii below! Hi BENJII, great to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Hey what's up! So glad to be on here with you guys! My real name is Benji Klassen, and I'm an alternative-pop artist a little north from you guys, up in Vancouver Canada. I've essentially been a guitar player all my life, writing and touring with a couple fantastic bands in the past, but finally thought I would branch off and make music that I loved without compromise -- to take a real crack at a solo music career. Growing up in the prairies of Canada, we didn't really have anything other than Top 40 playing on the radio at the time, so pop music became the foundation for me. It wasn't until moving to Vancouver 7 years ago where my eyes opened to the beauty of alternative music, so naturally, I had to combine the two genres. It's something I'm so profusely passionate about. I feel like I've had all of this pent up creativity and energy inside of me for a quarter of a century and I'm just ready to explode. What are some challenges you’ve faced in your career so far? The challenge is finding a big enough stick to beat off all the people thinking you’re crazy for blowing all of your money on your art! Not really - I’ve been incredibly blessed to have so much support from the people in my life - but overcoming the self doubt to take the plunge has been pretty difficult! Especially for a guy that over-calculates everything. Not only that, but then having to actually fund and invest into a high quality project single-handedly has certainly been an ordeal and massive sacrifice - but I have faith it will all be worth it in some way down the road. Do you write your own music or collab with others? The songs begin with me recording any new ideas, beats, hooks, or structures into Protools, and then I pull in my man JJ Bakker to start filling it all out with me. He’s a massive talent, and has played a huge role in helping me sculpt these tunes and to help keep my head and heart where they should be. Once we get the demo recorded and produced as far as we can take it, we bring it to Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Said the Whale) at Echoplant Studios where he puts it through his sonically golden producing/mixing fingers and out comes magic. I swear to God that guy is the most talented human I’ve ever met. He pushes me for nothing but the best and has this way of always getting it. Bit off topic there in terms of writing, but it’s certainly a team effort and these songs would be nothing without the amazing people I work with. Love your new song "California". What does California mean to you? That means a lot considering you're from LA! I mean, how many songs have been written about California right? The song was written during a very grey and confined moment of my life where I was just dying for a breath of fresh air (maybe it had something to do with the 8 months of non-stop rain we get here in Vancouver). It's meant to be a mental escape for anyone needing a little pick-me up in their day, and I think California was just the perfect setting for a song like that. Favorite lyric line in the song? Why? It’s gotta be “Just something I feel” at the end of the second verse. I’m not a man of many words to be honest (which probably surprises most if they know me), and have always had a hard time explaining my own thoughts, emotions or feelings. That line right there sums me up on such a deeper level than anyone could ever know, even though it’s such a simple line. Lyrics in general are something of a chore for me actually, and it’s because everything I want to say is already put into the colours and textures of the music itself. So the real goal with my lyrics is just to supplement the music in the best way possible without muddying up the message/feel with poorly chosen words. What can we expect to see from you through 2019? I was hoping you’d ask that! Lots. Within the next few months I’ll be laying the foundations for a follow up single that will NOT be what you’d be expecting after hearing California. It’s going to be a banger. But I’m so early into the game I just can’t afford to blow all my money on a single swing (like an album). At this point I’m going song by song growing a foundation + fanbase as I go along. The response to California has already been incredible, and people are already begging me for the next one haha! It's an amazing feeling, and I really can't wait to keep dropping singles this year. - Catch A Vibe With Truth Gordon's Exclusive Hit Off His Tape
We know you guys remember the fire lyricist who gave off J. Cole and Kendrick vibes? Truth Gordon ringing a bell? If not let’s quickly remind you of this rising star. Truth Gordon has opened up for many major artists ranging from Big Krit to T-pain and is currently waiting to release his feature with MoonTaxi. His music has been described as a soulful blend that’s accompanied by live instruments to bring out a more authentic indie vibe to his sound. Truth Gordon is back with another hit off his tape titled “Volume 2: High Tide”. The song that goes by the name of “F.A.C.T.S (Firestick And Chill Tonight)” featuring singer Bella Nicole. This record is an addicting vibe that we didn’t know we needed! The lyrics are highly repeatable and lushly attractive. “F.A.C.T.S” has this special fused together blend of R’n’B and Rap. It displays that poignant soul R’n’B is equipped with. Seductive acoustics and passionate vocals from Bella on the hook helps to lightly seduce its listeners while Truth continues to impress us with his storytelling abilities through his songwriting. It has a catchy appeal using a popular catchphrase we’re all familiar with. The use of “Netflix and Chill” yet adding his own twist with the use of Firestick, helped curate the trendy makeup to the song that could possibly skyrocket the record into mainstream. If you’re looking for a laid-back and chilled musical aura to relax too or even dedicate to your special significant other then “F.A.C.T.S.” by Truth Gordon is the perfect song for you! Stream "F.A.C.T.S" by Truth Gordon here and get to know a little about him below. Within “Volume 2: High Tide” what are some of your personal favorite songs? Now that we’ve lived with the project for a while, FACTs is actually the favorite. It just gives off a nostalgic vibe which predates social media. It feels funny to say things of that nature now, kinda funny. Tell us about “F.A.C.T.S” and the meaning behind this record! FACTs was created from a guitar riff! I actually produced the whole record but sit on it for 3 weeks to a month. The skeleton of it was just a vibe, ya know? The meaning is a vintage one. Just imagine, this day and time, watching all of the classic movies on Firestick, chilling, letting whatever happens happen accordingly. THAT! is a “F.A.C.T.” (See what I did there? Lol) Did you have anybody in mind while writing this? What inspired you to write “F.A.C.T.S” ? Although there wasn’t anyone in mind, I wanted to place my “go-to” into today’s perspective. Sadly, everyone mentions the whole Netflix and chill agenda but that’s been going on for decades. I wanted to recapture that feeling…the feeling of not getting straight to the point or even knowing what’s going to happen, only having expectations and doing everything within the moment to experience what’s expected. That’s why on the song, it’s coming from the woman’s point of view. Her saying that, “Hey, tonight…maybe we can just watch this fire stick and chill. Besides, you’re the only one I’m willing to chill with. A back rub would be nice, or rub your fingers through my hair a little…etc” THATS GOLDEN! What’s your personal favorite part about/in “F.A.C.T.S” and why? The favorite part of the song is the hook because Bella Nicole is a long time friend who I’ve known since I was a teen growing up in Mississippi. For YEARS, we had this little secret of her being able to sing, so I always teased her about being on one of my songs. I hit her up after I had made the sketch of it which was a verse, formulated a hook with her and made it happen. MUCH of her personality is in the song because she’s this SUPER chill person with a humongous since of humor. We kept the song honest and true to who we were. What’s next for you? VOLUME 3: Skinny Dipping In Maine! This will release either mid-May or early June! We are very excited about it because it’s vintage to the Truth Gordon fan base and should generate a lot more buzz because we are bringing a LOT MORE of the same approach from “High Tide”. We have a goal with all of my projects to have the “no skip” factor. It’s nothing like fans and people telling me that they’ve played the project non-stop and are still finding new things about it. So, with that being said, it’s a MUST to make the same thing happen and we are confident in it happening. You guys might get an early release to grade and rate it if you’re down! Just let us know! - Aantdoe Releases His Aesthetically Pleasing Single “GetAway”
An army veteran with a love for making great music, Aantdoe is a rapper from Philadelphia who loves making hip-hop music targeted towards an adult audience. He self-proclaims it as “GFR” or in translation, “Grown Folks Rap”, due to him rapping about real life situations that all ages can relate to, as opposed to jewelry, cars and women. Aantdoe recently released his single titled “GetAway” which reminded me of lo-fi rap with its melodic beat adding a laid back texture to the mood. “GetAway” curates a sense of nostalgia and the delivery by Aantdoe is smooth-sailing and clean. “GetAway” isn’t just a relaxed masterpiece, it’s also a poetically lyrical work of art. Aantdoe songwriting has to be noted because as we listened to this record, we noticed the metaphorics were kept simple and didn’t go too complex with his lyricism like many artists tend to do. By doing this, Aantdoe was able to have his listener focused in on each bar and line, therefore, captivating our attention way more than another artist could do. Aantdoe delivered a superb vibe through “GetAway” which had us vibing alongside the music and just radiating an overall serene level of energy. “GetAway” is a nice, well-executed vibe and we’re sure Aantdoe is going to be the artist to look out for! Listen to "GetAway here and get to know more about Aantdoe below! Hey Aantdoe, it's great to chat with you! Can you tell us a bit about you? Aantdoe is an Army/Combat Veteran with a love for making GREAT MUSIC!!! I'm a Rapper from Philadelphia PA who loves making Hip Hop music but more of an adult version... I'm not just rapping about jewelry, cars and clothes and how many women I've slept with... I rap about real life situations that all ages can relate to so I like to call it GFR or GROWN FOLKS RAP. Who or what are some of your key influences for your style of music Aantdoe ? My key influences are mainly old school rap legends... Rakim is the GOAT in my opinion... Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, KRS1, Chuck D, Notorious B. I. G, 2Pac... Just to name a few... Basically Rappers that actually put thought into what they rapped about.. What are some challenges you’ve faced so far in your career? Well I feel my Biggest obstacle was being in the military... Being in the Army ESPECIALLY during the times of war and being deployed to multiple Combat zones doesn't really give you the time to focus on writing or making your best music... When all your really focused on is bringing your Soldiers back to their families... But now that I'm retired I have plenty of time to focus on just music... Tell us about “GetAway” and the meaning behind the song? What inspired you to write “GetAway” ? GetAway is basically a dedication to my wife... Marriage is not easy... And when you add the separation from being a military spouse on top of it... Me being deployed for 15 months at a time its damn near impossible... But she stood by my side through it all and I wanted my appreciation to be immortalized in a song... So I wrote GetAway.. What’s next for you through 2019? What's next for me... This year I plan to continue making music striving to build a strong following and hopefully put myself in a position to bless the world with my talents.. - Notes Float Off The Score On Thomas E Rouch’s Latest Release: “The Pathfinder”
A successful artist has the capability to unite, to inspire and to make the audience feel in what the artist is trying to convey in their music- Thomas E Rouch does this flawlessly on his latest release “The Pathfinder”. We are treated to a somber piano melody where we can envision Thomas delicately pressing the black and white keys. The song is crafted with soft poignant pauses and carefully accentuated notes that makes your subconscious create a scene in which you can imagine the actions and atmosphere of what’s happening in that scene, that’s what Thomas is capable of doing with his compositions. Based in Melbourne Australia, Thomas works as a film composer that to date has scored seven feature films garnering him several screen music award nominations and winning the award for Best Music at the British Independent Film Festival in 2014. When creating scores, Thomas aims to find the essence in the story and to connect people to the stories he tells through his music. Recently Thomas has started composing solo piano pieces; those pieces have welcomed a steadily growing fan base worldwide, adding over 7,500 Instagram followers in just 9 months! His first solo piano release: “The Pathfinder” was released on April 4th, 2019 and is available on popular music platforms. Listen to "The Pathfinder by Thomas E. Rouch here and get to know him below. Thomas, thank you for taking the time to speak to us. We thought “The Pathfinder” was a beautiful song, can you tell us a bit more about this piece? The Pathfinder is the title track of my first solo piano EP which has just been released on Infinite Noise Records. For the last ten years I've been working as a film composer, scoring al kinds of feature films and TV shows, but recently I really felt the need tell my own story, because even though I'd achieved many of things in life that I'd set out to do, somewhere along the way I lost touch with what was important to me beyond the work. I had focussed on getting things done and lost touch with what it meant to be me. So this record is really a journey of self discovery and a document of that process. You mentioned the importance of storytelling in your score creation, what happens first for you in the creation of a piece? Do you first envision a particular scene and let the music evolve from there? With film scores I'm really trying to connect the audience to the inner world of the characters, music is such a powerful tool for conveying not just emotion but psychological states and deep primal instincts. My process involves are fair amount of experimentation and for me it starts with getting the right sound for the film, choosing instruments and tones to match the vision and feel of the film How long have you been playing the piano and what do you love about its capability as an instrument? I started playing the piano when I was 4 so quite a long time! I ended up playing more guitar as an adult and working as a session guitarist but the piano has always been a very special instrument for me. Because there are only a few ways to change the sound of the instrument it really makes you focus on choosing the perfect combination of notes and using timing to convey feel. It also has such a large range both dynamically and in octaves so it's a wonderful instrument to compose music on. A lot of the time listeners can gather a meaning of a song from lyrics. With lyrics being absent from your pieces, how do you convey a message across to your listeners? I think when I write instrumental music I'm trying to communicate those feelings that words cannot describe, so I try to open myself up and let the feelings come out into the music, it's hard to pinpoint exactly how it works. It's about removing the barriers in your mind and being instinctual. Was there a particular score from a movie that made you want to be a film composer? Well Star Wars was the first film I can remember seeing, my parents took me to see it at the drive in and I loved the music. In fact my youth is signposted by all the big John Williams film scores like E.T. Indiana Jones and Superman. Follow Thomas E. Routh on social media! - Self Taught And Self Made, Drew Skye Releases Her First Single “Saved”
Drew Skye is an up and coming bright-eyed artist from Bakersfield, California. Growing up listening to Buck Owens and Merl Haggard, Drew has a unique sound that gives her a level up on other new artists. She grew up on R&B and soul, and absorbed every ounce of music she could even at the young age of 9! It was then that she discovered her growing passion for music. She’s a self-taught musician and a talented vocalist. Her desire to pursue a solo career gave her the push she needed to make the move to Los Angeles. “Saved” was released earlier this year and we can’t believe we haven’t been bumping it sooner. The fusion of different genres is evident and Drew highlights her diversity in this spectacular piece. Her vocals are fresh and delicate and the lyrics are poetic. She’s giving us old school Christina Aguilera with a twist. “Saved” is a timeless R&B hit about struggling with love. We relate so much to Drew Skye’s lyric “Sometimes I wish I never met you, praying to forget you”. It’s that moment when you feel like a relationship has scarred you, the only way to avoid the pain would be to go back and never meet them in the first place, therefore saving yourself. Keep killing it, girl! We can’t wait to see what’s next for Drew Skye, future star. Listen to "Saved" here and get to know more about Drew Skye below! Hi Drew! It's great to chat with you.Tell us more about your diverse musical background? As long as i can remember i wanted to be a singer since i was 4 years old. although i grew up fairly shy, the passion i had for music came to me naturally. I then started auditioning for Musicals and became part of a Dance Team. I always wanted to sing or dance, because that to me was my childhood. I also grew up around drummers and Musicians the first half of my childhood that pretty much sparked a fire in me at a young age. Later on in my life i learned that on my fathers side of the family everyone can either sing or play an instrument. Who are your top three inspirations that have helped shape your career in the music industry? Prince would have to be my number one inspiration, he always mesmerized me, not only by his talent but just who he was as a human being. He always seemed so sure of himself, and inspired me to want to learn multiple instruments like him as well. Sade would have to be another important inspiration to me, my mother would always play her cassette tape in the car when i was younger and during that time there was a lot going on, so Sade was a big part of my life that really helped heal me from the world around me. Last but not least, Britney Spears. whenever she is on stage you cant take your eyes off of her, not to mention most of her music videos are iconic. What drove you to write “Saved”? I wrote SAVED last year, during a time in my life that felt very confusing. It seemed liked i was in the middle of losing myself but also finding my true identity at the same time. I learned that in order for me to pick myself up, i needed too just fall completely. and in those moments you could lose the closest people to you, because they cant save you, and whatever damage that caused, it would be okay in the end because i am the only one who can save myself. It was that transitional phase in life i believe we all have to go through. Can we expect an album anytime soon? I am currently co-writing with my producer on several projects including my EP that will be released by the end of 2019. You have so much talent at such a young age, where do you think this came from? Honestly, i believe the passion of Music came from within, Being shy and reserved as a young child, brought out this Artistic side of me that i needed to express somewhere. That's when I began writing in journals at age 6 (that i still have till this day) that drove me to want to put my thoughts and stories into songs, which then inspired me to want to learn how to play guitar, piano, drums, etc. What's next for you through 2019? For 2019 i will be focused on finishing my EP, I have been writing for this project for the last two years, and i am super excited for when i can finally share a part of my heart with the world. I will also be performing at venues that i will be announcing on my Social Media very soon. - Can Boy Completely Transforms “Thotiana” Into His Own Vibe
Can Boy released his latest single paying homage to a popular current trending record! His remix to a popular song, “Thotiana” by Blueface wasn’t typical to the other remixes you may have heard of this flavorful record! He titles the song “Blueface Remake” and it’s something new and different while sticking to the rhythm of the song as we know it. Usually when an artist has remixed “Thotiana” they tend to stick to the same flow, delivery, and style Blueface did. However, Can Boy completely transformed this record into his own, with the only comparison being the beat. Instead of just regular rapping, Can Boy raps in a style that’s quite idiosyncratic from what we’ve heard before! Can Boy doesn’t just deliver a clean slated rap flow but he adds a different dimension to it with the auto-tune causing his voice to sound more muffled, alongside his signature adlibs that’s individual to him. You hear his ability to create witty and catchy lyrics while still sticking to the development of the record. This playful remix is not only charismatically executed, but it showcases Can Boy’s caliber of talent due to his capability of metamorphosing any type of style or song into his individual artistry. Can Boy has the potential of becoming a mainstream hitmaker because he has this special star appeal to his music that shines all the way through the song. Listen to "Thotiana" by Can Boy here and get to know Can Boy below! Mind telling our readers a little bit about yourself and your upbringing? I was birthed in Toronto, ON, I lived here until the 8th grade, I moved countries because used to hoop, long story short that ain't work, since then I eat, sleep, breath music, and think bout it all day. I love it. Do you have any key influences for your style of music? Wayne and Thug birthed me musically, after that I became my own influence. What motivated you to remix “Thotiana” by BlueFace ? I kept hearing it, then i started liking it... OD. What are some challenging aspects of remixing a popular song!? People might not appreciate it as much as the original. - Jurasik Releases A Funky Hip-Hop Hit “Don’t Behave”
Jurasik is a bulgarian native who was born in the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Jurasik grew up musically inclined as he’s been involved with many different instruments at a young age, including guitar, drums, and many more. Hip-hop was always his favorite genre but it was never something he had the passion for pursuing. However, once he turned 15 years old and began free styling with his friends they soon encouraged him to start taking rapping seriously but he had no knowledge of recording a song. After finding a local engineer and producer, he found a beat off YouTube and wrote his first song titled “Keep it real”. When he passed the song on his channel ‘JurasikTv’, he received an incredible amount of love and support from the viewers. This gave him the courage to continue down the road of hip-hop so he kept recording and releasing, which eventually led to many invites for hip-hop shows surrounding the island. Jurasik wanted to progress from recording over beats so at the age of 16 years old, he bought his own production and began practicing creating beats. After around a year of practice, his beats finally came together and he started releasing them to the world! Fast forward, all the beats Jurasik puts out now he self-produced, mixed, mastered, and engineered! Jurasik aspires to become a successful hip-hop artist and producer on a global scale. Jurasik released his single titled “Don’t Behave” and it began with a funky introduction that had us instantly intrigued. After learning Jurasik creates everything on his own, it had us way more in tuned with the beat and the way it was executed. Jurasik took meticulous time creating this masterful song and we couldn’t help but love it. Jurasik has the entire package down! His flow and delivery was fire! He moved effortlessly with the beat, staying on measure and not going off-beat. Jurasik is a star in his own way. He has every capacity possible to help transport his listeners on an expanding journey that’s almost unforgettable through “Don’t Behave”. Jurasik flawlessly achieved his goal of blending his listener with his music and creating a union between the delivery. “Don’t Behave” isn’t an aggressive, highly-intense record, nor is it a lo-fi laid back bop, but it’s a nice fusion of the both. Jurasik leaves his listener curious as to what to expect next from him. “Don’t Behave” doesn’t give everything away and that’s why we love it! You begin to thirst for more music from Jurasik after listening to this bold and stratospheric hit! Listen to "Don't Behave here and get to know more about Jurasik below! Hello and welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell our readers about yourself and what made you start your career in music? I have always been a big fan of music and I try to surround myself with it as much as I can throughout the day. I don't have one specific genre that I like honestly if it sounds good that works for me. My main focus however is on Hip-Hop and from a young age I've been listening to Eminem, 50 Cent, basically all the big names you can think of. From listening to their music I've been able to create my own sound and have a vision for what I want to become. Hip-Hop music has always moved me and is also a good form of expression so I think that's the main thing that made start writing lyrics. Just writing down whatever comes to mind or if I'm feeling something it feels good to just be able to put it out there. Like any artist I want to be at the top of the table and have many dreams come true however it was my desire to create something that lead to take a firm decision on solely focusing on music. A lot of risks come with this but I love it, it's exciting. Tell us about “Don’t Behave”, what is the meaning behind the song? After I produced the beat I knew that if I wrote lyrics over it, it could turn out really good. Like my usual process with writing, I sit and I just listen to the instrumental and the words just start coming. I started with the chorus and once I figured out the flow, Don't Behave was the first thing that came. The rest just follows naturally. The song speaks for itself I mean when you hear Don't Behave, you'll probably have the idea that it's going to be about what you shouldn't be doing. I'm also trying to convey that I will get what I want no matter what and that there is no time to waste. What inspired you to write “Don’t Behave”? What was the creation process like? Don't Behave was created on the spot in the studio I was in so I can't really say that something specific inspired me but rather that I knew the beat hit hard, so all I needed to do was write even harder lyrics that people will remember. It probably took me a day to finish the whole song. Sometimes I look through it the day after just in case I notice something that could be better. Once I had everything ready, I recorded, mixed, and mastered the song myself. What do you want your new fans and listeners to get out of "Don't Behave"? For anyone that has heard the song or will be listening to it just remember that your obstacle is yourself and no one else. You shouldn't cave into people's hate and let them discourage you because if you really want something you can have it. When you get lost into what people might be saying about you, that is only blocking your creativity and you're just giving them the energy they don't deserve. Work hard and don't let anything stop you. What’s next for you? We can't wait to hear what's next! I will continue making music and releasing songs regularly, one of my singles is already done and waiting to be released.I will also try to plan some shows throughout the summer in the island of Cyprus. I am currently producing beats for other rappers and hopefully have some great collaborations coming both as an artist and producer.
