  • We Heard It First: Lucas Yeet Releases New Single "Lucid Dreams / Evil Things”

Lucas Benn better known as Lucas Yeet is an American Contemporary Hip Hop artist and producer that hails from Iowa. Before Lucas Yeet, he dropped many underground mixtapes under the name Lil Lucas. Gaining attention from many influencers like Adam 22 of No Jumper and Lil B, he’s managed to get signed to GC Management as an influencer. In his own words “becoming complacent counters results and growth”. His love for the music has him dedicating himself to 12 hours of working in the studio engineering. One big he strives to emphasis is his true love to the music and art. “Lucid Dreams / Evil Things” has that trap house feel that is familiar in Hip Hop today. Nice production with the vocal auto-tune. The track has an psychedelic beat with kind of an eerie undertone. You follow the tune through the world of trippy sounds; its like you can feel yourself in a kaleidoscope as you listen too "Lucid Dreams / Evil Things". The intro comes in so soft and almost makes you think it is going to go that indie R&B route but a beat drops and you hit with a wave of sounds. The written lyrics give you the idea of maybe a lost love that went wrong. The story sounds so sad but the production is like a warm hug. Listen to "Lucid Dreams / Evil Things" here and be sure to check out our exclusive interview with Lucas as we talk about his new music and what we can expect from him this year! Hey Lucas! Would you mind introducing yourself to our readers? My name is Luke Benn and I am a 17 year old artist who is based out of Ames, Iowa. Music isn't something I just picked up to follow any certain wave or anything. I have been posting tracks on Soundcloud since 2014 and have been fascinated by music for as long as I can remember. When I was really young my brother played the guitar and taught me a ton of cords and I had the basics down and learned by like age 4 or 5.  I also would turn anything into drums and just make little loops and stuff in my room. I started writing music and actual songs around age 10-11 but didn't actually start recording and stuff until like age 12-13. My musical influences range from Wiz Khalifa and Kanye West, to completely different genres with artists like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tame Impala and Arctic Monkeys. Could you give us a little background on this track “Lucid Dreams / Evil Things”? I wrote the song Lucid Dreams about this girl who I have been associated with for years. I start of by saying "on, and on, on and on" because it seems like no matter how much the relationship peaked the problems were on and on. The whole concept of Lucid Dreams is feeling like she is still their though we have been separated by these demons that trouble and haunt us (i.e. Evil Things). I then go in and talk about how its always on and off between us and in every fight you say your going to leave but then your really not its all temporary. How do you maintain the creativity in your music? I maintain creativity throughout my music by letting the waves just hit me and fully absorbing the sound for what it is. I can make some super lyrical deep story telling song but if i'm not feeling that vibe and its not natural or how i'm really feeling in the moment I cannot force it. But I get ideas and add to my lyrical structure just by actually going out and experiencing new things because at the end of the day if your just cooped up in the house all day making music your gonna hit a point where it all starts to be reminiscent of your other songs because your not adding any new experiences of feelings into your psyche. What artist do you plan to work with in the near future? In the near future I plan to drop a lot of music with a handful of friends. My homie and gc management mate Levll and I got something coming as well as continued work with my brother Kid Stvcks. I also should be having a super dope track coming soon with my Iowa City homie Macio who is really special. I also have been doing a lot of production and engineering for other artists so you may hear and track and not even know I am the one behind it all. What platforms do you use to push your music outside of your main listeners? Right now my music is fully pushed through my social media networks and Soundcloud. I am working on a full body of work that should be coming in the near future that will feature coherent message based hype tracks that also are sonically mass appeal friendly. That Album will be available everywhere when it drops so stay posted for that - its for real something special and my best work to date. What should we expect from you in 2019? In 2019 you should expect a lot of music coming from myself and all the great people I have been blessed with a opportunity to work with. My album will 100% be released this year as well as I will be making appearances on a handful of albums you wouldn't expect someone of my size to be featured on. Actual music aside you should plan to see a lot of tour dates and shows pop up as well as even a major label deal I've been working out - but that will all fall into place with due time. • We Heard It First: Beyond Tha Noize Releases New Hit “Dance All Night”

Richard Sacilotto aka Beyond Tha Noize is a DJ and producer currently based out of Melbourne, Australia. Heavily inspired by his father growing up who also was a DJ when he was young. His father never made millions of dollars but he instilled in him his love for sharing his style of music with everyone that entered the venues he performed at. This alone jolted his inspiration to bring that same energy and happiness around the world. His most recent project, Beyond Tha Noize, seeks to create an atmospheric and immersive sound mixed with an engaging performance style and stunning attention to subtle details of this production. Excited to hear “Dance All Night”. This track is a dance HIT! Richard knows exactly what he is doing with this project Beyond Tha Noize. The song comes in strong with a heavily composed 30 second intro. Guiding us right into these eccentric vocals that we cannot help but to dance to. Then about midway through the song there is a build up that you would think is the climax but no just some nice transitions. Blending all the sounds that make good feel good beats. Then we get the cliff into the outro of the song and still giving the same energy on a different level. Closing out just as strong as it opened as it washes you over with a cool tonal ending. That track makes me want to workout and literally Dance All Night. Listen to "Dance All Night" here. Hey! Can you introduce yourself to our readers? My name is Richard Sacilotto also known as Beyond Tha Noize I was born in a country town in Western Australia Called Kalgoorlie-Boulder but am now based in Melbourne, Victoria to continue to pursue the production of my music and am aiming to live out of LA by the end of 2019. When did you discover your recent passion project in Beyond Tha Noize? Beyond Tha Noize began 5 years ago, originally as a duo with a good friend of mine Tom Dodd, Van Morgan, who has some amazing work coming out very soon also! However, as of the last 4 years I have been working with his brother Teckk on the project. I have put my heart and soul into this project. We have done all the work ourselves, everything from the music, to the record label, all our artwork, and as of recently NITE LIFE by Beyond Tha Noize, a new fashion label currently selling high-end sneakers and looking to expand into clothing also. Excitingly growing and continuously expanding, Beyond Tha Noize is expecting so much more to come for the new year. What would you say is the idea behind “Dance All Night”? Dance all night is exactly the idea behind the track. We just wanted to create a beat that encourages you to dance all night. We want this to be a piece that allows you to feel free and let yourself go, encourage a positive dance vibe that’s captures memories to be made! This is the reason why we produce and DJ, we want to spread the love of life through our music. During this tour in India, what can we expect from your performances? I am extremely excited for this tour. I’m definitely going to be bringing enormous energy to my shows and playing a mass amount of unreleased music. I will be pushing the limits with some of my favourite big melody, vocal-driven, feel good tracks that the crowd can embrace with me. Any more hits that you have coming out this year? What is the inspiration behind them? I have a line up of new releases in progress at the moment. Exclusively, the next track I am releasing is “SMOKING KILLS”. I’m also currently working on a couple more tracks to follow, titled “THE LOVE 2019” and “COMPUTER LOVE”. I’m absolutely loving the vibe of our next release SMOKING KILLS and the direction it’s going in. The vocals on this one are amazing and the lyrics have so much meaning behind them. The meaning and inspiration behind SMOKING KILLS follows the story of meeting someone special, everything being perfect although the message indicates the fear to commit to something serious but then later being regretful that it may be too late. But is it?! That’s all I’ll give away at this point so, you’ll have to wait for the release with just as much eagerness as I have. The release date is just around the corner, so make sure you’re following my socials so you don’t miss it! Also, remember, smoking kills. ;) Connect with Beyond Tha Noize on social media: www.beyondthanoize.com www.facebook.com/beyondthanoize www.instagram.com/beyondthanoize www.twitter.com/beyondthanoize www.soundcloud.com/beyondthanoize #BuzzMusic

  • Oscxr Graces Us With New Single “Hourglass”

Oscar Gimenez, also known by the artist alias of Oscxr is a Venezuelan music producer currently based in Miami, Florida. He was first introduced to music through guitar lessons and through time he became experienced with music and was introduced to Digital Audio Workstations, where he taught himself how to play the piano and bass. As of 2018, Oscxr began to collaborate with a variety of artists of diverse genres. He has acquired experience in producing Hip Hop, Downtempo, Bass House, Tropical House, EDM, Electronic, Dancehall, Moombahton, and Trap. Oscxr released his single titled “Hourglass” and we were immensely impressed by his articulation, lyrical ability and his escalating flow. Oscxr presents us with witty lyricism and progressive bars we find extremely appealing. The beat reminds us of that trap sound we're familiar with and love the most. Noticeable in artist’s like “Belly” work, the beat anticipates the trendy hit we find ourselves grasped too. Oscxr has that suave spanish delivery in his music and I believe it sets him apart from most rappers that’s currently out at the moment. “Hourglass” showcases a unique side to the artist he is and his capability to distribute punchlines with inevitable hooks that remains frequent and addicting in our memories. Bravo Oscxr! Listen to "Hourglass" here and get to know Oscxr in our interview below! Hi Oscxr, care to introduce yourself to our readers? Hello! I'm an independent Music Producer and Sound Engineer originally from Venezuela. I moved to the United States a couple years ago, and I've been expanding my musical knowledge ever since. I'm a pretty chill guy, and I appreciate every single person that spends their time listening to my music. As of now, I play percussion, guitar, bass guitar, and piano. You should totally follow me on Instagram, @oscxrgimenez, and talk to me! I love talking to people, and moreover, I enjoy explaining my songs and the meaning behind them. When did you first begin producing music? I really began producing way back in 2013. Back then I really had no direction and did it for fun. I only played guitar, and I didn't really know where to start in production. After a couple of years, around 2016, I had already acquired experience with bass guitar and percussion, which influenced greatly on how I produced afterward. Then, I learned piano by myself and that's when the production really kicked off. In fact, if you go to my SoundCloud, www.soundcloud.com/0scxr, you can see how my production got better with time. What are some challenges you may face during the production of a song? Honestly, even though I can work alone, I prefer working with other people. I am a strong believer of teamwork and sharing the experience of music with other people. Many times I never consolidate my projects and only a small fraction of the things I've done have been released. It's funny because many producers can relate, that whenever they're working on something they usually get sidetracked, get a new idea, and move onto that idea without ever finishing the project they were working on! The other thing I do a lot is mixing and mastering for other people. I work with Txxmyboy on most of his songs, Canadian rapper Sakif, and from time to time I also work with Canadian-based producer Aman (you can search him on Spotify under the name Aman & Yenny). Can you tell us about the creation process of "Hourglass"? How was collaborating with Txxmyboy and Jin? So, for Hourglass we had this beat. I absolutely enjoyed it and I immediately sent it to Tommy, known as Txxmyboy, for him to rap on it. I've been working with Tommy from day 1. He possesses a raw talent I have never seen before. His first single (and coincidentally also my first single "Coupable") was written on the spot, and he just recorded one take and then sent it my way. For this track, he introduced me to Jin, a friend of his. He has an amazing voice, and I am so happy to have worked with him. He also has a great songwriting power, and he is a producer himself. You should definitely stick around because I'm releasing more songs with him in 2019. Hourglass talks about a relationship that ended terribly. Tommy starts rapping at first, and then Jin is introduced. After his verse, Tommy comes back rapping in Cantonese (he speaks English, Spanish, French, and Cantonese) and then switches back to English. It's very experimental, but extremely creative and requires skill nonetheless. What can we expect to see from you in 2019? Well, I do absolutely everything. I produce electronic music, hip hop, trap music, chill-out music, downtempo... You name it. I don't really stick with one genre, I love making everything and anything. What really defines what I put out is the emotion that I'm trying to transmit on the song. Soon enough, I will be releasing a song, in Spanish, that talks about nostalgic moments, with a sad, slow mood. The song itself starts slow, but then I decide to pick up the pace and make a happier chorus, as to indicate that even though we might get nostalgic and sad, we should overcome it and look at past experiences with our chins up and grow from them. We only get one life! Make the most out of it. 2019 is the year for independent artists, and I'll be sure to stick around! Connect with Oscxr on social media: Instagram

  • The Frontier Releases New Single "Gravity"

The Frontier is a polished indie-pop project that’s emerging out of DC, who combines mainstream rock and indie flavors to fabricate a unique sound of their own. Formed in 2016, the band has already garnered the likes of producer Austin Bello. So far, they have released two EP’s alongside two singles and amassed fans from all across the world. They released their single “Gravity”, an alternative indie rock sounding atmosphere with textural elements to make it the most outlandish and unique single yet! “We got the universe in our hands, we going places we never been” I loved it due to the nomadic nature of the lyricism. It evokes the curiosity sense in us that encourages us to go out there, travel and explore the world. “Gravity” has a special effect in which it can abundantly transport us into the realm of the music and it’s an all around cleansing and replenishing moment! The extravagant vocals and electrifying instrumentals all fuses together to create a subtle yet chaotic mixture. I’m personally a fan of detailed music like this where i can traverse not only the song but my thoughts and emotions. Listen to "Gravity" here. How did The Frontier meet and form? The Frontier was originally a solo project that I was working on with my producer that started in 2015. After about a year of writing and recording I decided to seek out musicians so I could perform the music live. It first started out as a three piece, but we quickly decided we wanted a bigger sound. After a few lineup changes, some craigslist auditions, and some local musician friends filling in, we finalized our lineup. Two EPs and two single later, here we are! We are currently working on our 3 rd ep. What are some challenges you often face during creating music? For me personally, I like to think I've started to develop a rhythm to creating our songs. There is definitely a process that takes place. It took me a while to figure that out. Once I did I didn't really have a problem creating new music. For me that is where I get my joy from. It's in the creating process. After that is where the real work begins. That's where it gets tricky. Between your previous two EP’s which has been a personal preference for each you and why? This is always difficult to pick a favorite song, album, or ep. They are each special on their own. I can't really say I prefer one over the other because they both represent different times in my life. I like the grittiness of the first ep. For the second one, I like it because it feels like we matured and refined our sound a bit. Too hard to pick one over the other. Sorry if that is totally cliche, ha! What is the meaning behind your single “Gravity”? There is no meaning? ha. I mean technically there is, but really it's a lot of tongue-and-cheek lines we came up with in the studio. I will say this. I am pretty big into Science Fiction and the day we wrote those lyrics I told my producer about a dream I had being abducted by aliens. We kind of just took off from there. Weird, I know. Who are some of your musical influences that have contributed to the success and growth of your careers? There are so many but i will try and narrow it down a bit. Recently, around the time I was writing this music I had been listening to Bowie. I really dug how he could just be down right weird sometimes AND write these catchy tunes at the same time. I also listened to a lot of The Shins. James Mercer is an amazing lyricist. Around the same time I started to really get into Wilco. Been a fan of Jeff Tweedy ever since. There are a lot more but I'd say these are the most relevant to our music. What can people expect from you in 2019? I am excited to say A LOT! We are releasing new songs, working on a dynamic and energetic live show, and as many performances as we can fit in. We are thinking about working in a music video or two this year. I mean at this point the sky is the limit. We wanna take this ship as far as we can sail it. • Lumen Craft Gives Us Diverse And Eclectic Melodies In “Stranger”

Remember the name now: Lumen Craft. A trio straight out of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Lumen Craft present to us an eclectic mix of electronic, pop and indie genres—and this unique blend of harmonies they manifest is quite a favorite in Brazil. This diverse-sounding band have developed a loud reputation, performing on stages such as Sofar Sound Latin America, MECA Inhotim Festival and Brazil’s Rock The Mountain. And this electro-pop trio isn’t stopping any time soon—their recent release of “Stranger” is a song that gave us all the vibes we needed. Lumen Craft effuses a lively body experience in “Stranger” with their crafted blend of rhythms and synths. Right away the heavy and sultry beat overcomes you, and makes you feel connected with the melody. We ultimately noticed how well the tone coordinated with the vocals, intertwined with a continuous diverse harmony. The entire song complements itself and ultimately had a great execution with smooth atmosphere it creates for the listener. Add “Stranger” to your playlist here—we already have! Listen to "Stranger" here. Hey guys! Please tell our readers who each of you are. Ceah - Producer John - Vocalist Noah - Guitarist Can you describe the sound you initially envisioned for Lumen Craft? We always wanted to achieve a balanced mix between blues, soul and electronic music, with a combination of live instruments, synths and drum machines.  We all have different histories in music but we found a common ground with Lumen Craft where we thrive, achieving different musical scopes in each step we take as a band. Did “Stranger” execute the way you wanted it to as a group? Stranger is a song we cherish for its bluesy feel, simplicity and riffs.  It certainly executed the way we envisioned, coming as a breath of fresh air. It has strong electronic elements as it does have a presence with vocals and guitars getting to a balance we have been seeking for. Since there are three of you, each with diverse imaginations, do you find you ever clash with ideas? We usually work in a way that everyone has to be happy with the sound, if we don't get to this stage the track is not ready, so in that sense we do clash, but with friendly fires where we lift each other up, taking the best out of our musicanship. How did you three originally know you wanted to collaborate, and then form Lumen Craft? We began producing some tracks, experimenting in the studio.  After a while we felt something began to take form.  We decided to produce more, that's when we noticed we had a hand full of songs that worked well together. It all happened very organically. Connect with Lumen Craft on social media: facebook.com/lumencraft twitter.com/lumencraft instagram.com/lumencraft #BuzzMusic

  • Heather Morningstar Is Giving Us Alternative Rock Flashbacks with “It’s Okay”

Heather Morningstar, an artist from Columbus, Ohio gives us a flash from the past with her unique execution of alternative rock. Although Heather Morningstar released her EP “When The Sun Refuses to Shine” in early January of this year, her sound is quite inimitable. Heather's new album “When the Sun Refuses to Shine” reveals her journey through recovery, and the tracks have been undoubtedly manifested to express the disparate and raw emotion identifying with her newfound resurgence. The vocals in Heather Morningstar’s “It’s Okay” bring back an incredibly familiar sound from the early 90s—a heavy alternative rock sensation. “It’s Okay” is one of those songs that will easily get you bobbing your head along with the strident rhythm. The implementation of the vocals alone are comparable to elements that bands such as The Cranberries, Stevie Nicks, and The Pretty Reckless express. Keep an eye out for Heather Morningstar—even though she gives us some serious flashbacks, her future, if of any reflection of her new EP, is quite promising! We can't wait to hear what's next. Listen to “It’s Okay” on Spotify and catch our exclusive interview with Heather below! Hey Heather! Please introduce yourself to our readers. Hi! I'm Heather Morningstar from Columbus, Ohio. Who were your biggest inspirations for your EP “When the Sun Refuses to Shine”? My biggest inspiration for my EP was my sobriety and journey in recovery. Without, none of this would be possible. What inspired “It’s Okay”? 'It's Okay' was inspired by my need to express the opposite of what I was feeling at the time in my dark state of drunken loneliness.  I wanted to ease the minds of those who cared about me. Making a big impression in the world of alternative rock can definitely be a milestone. How do you expect to make a breakthrough? I expect everyone to fall in love with me of course. The listeners are everything in this line of work. But I will be taking every opportunity presented to me.  The Universe has guided me this far and I trust that it is guiding me in the right direction. So, my breakthrough will come from not only hard work, determination, passion, positivity and being unique, but by having music that people can truly relate to and be inspired by. What is one piece of advice you’ve always follow throughout the creation of your music? The one piece of advice I have always followed is that music is magical, and there is no "one formula" or "right way" to write a great song. Never force it, let it happen; let it come to you. • Her Brothers New Single “Innocent” Gives Us Everything We Need And More!

Vancouver’s very own Her Brothers are a lively, refined alt-pop band, fusing 90s punk energy with 80s dance-rock. The band is composed of 3 brothers: Gabe, the vocals and guitar, Josh, the bass, and Levi Penner, the drums. Gaining a lot of inspirational influences from names like Michael Jackson, Maroon 5, and Peter Gabriel, Her Brothers displays the innate ability to give us contemporary hits while adding the timeless traditions of music to them. They have gained a significant following from their extravagant live shows and performances. The shows they put on are what one would say is electrifying! You can tell this is something these brothers are passionate about. Their latest album Tribe, has been an album they have been experimenting with the unreleased tracks to give their fans some true excitement! “Innocent” is a track towards the end of their album Tribe but one that should not be passed over. The intro verse to this track gives you a nice build up to the chorus. “I want to sing, but I never want to miss a note” sold me. Gabe's vocals are extremely moving. Looking at the band visually, you never know what to expect and I love that! The blended melodies throughout this track is bananas. I can hear so many layers. Using vocals as sounds, the snaps that almost sound like drum sticks, guitar placement. I mean I can go on and on. There is something so rich and timeless about this particular track. The bridge and outro of this track was exceptionally done. And although for some ends soon, it is the perfect lead up to the next track. Her Brothers, although brothers, work so very well together. Bravo guys! Listen to “Innocent” here and get to know Her Brothers in our interview below! Hey there guys! Mind sharing with our readers who you are and a little about yourselves? The three of us are brothers Gabe, Josh and Levi Penner from Vancouver BC and we make up the band Her Brothers. We met when we were born, consecutively and we’ve been playing music together for just over 13 years. As brothers, what is the most difficult aspect about working together? Since we do pretty much everything in house it’s very easy for conflict to arise in regards to song or video writing and production. One of the things we say a lot is, “the song is king” but of course it can get heated when we’re all trying to let the song be it’s best self and have two or even three different ideas. Probably where it gets most difficult is in checking ourselves. Because we’ve all grown up together and are brothers it’s easy to take it out on one another without even thinking about it and assume it’ll be fine. Family seems to bring out a unique intensity at times. We try to not take ourselves too seriously. What inspired your new track “Innocent”? My own struggle with depression and anxiety. It’s obviously not everyone’s story by any means but what I myself have found is that I have a huge amount of agency when it comes to my own choices that can lead to heightened anxiety or bouts of depression. The big one for me is social media. I mean the whole mechanism is setup to create feelings of alienation and then affirmation and back and forth. It’s been designed to keep a user on it for as long as possible. We’re one of the most, if not the most, connected society the world has ever seen and yet one of most disconnected, dissatisfied and lonely societies at the same time. People used to die from war, famine and plague, and there still is lots of death around those terrible things but we have significantly pushed them back all around the world. Who knew one of the biggest threats would be suicide. That we would be taking our own lives. How do you keep things fresh within you music? Listen to music outside of our tastes and read lots. I’m a lyrics guy and I read quite a bit so I try to read stuff I’d normally never pick up, like Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s Gift From the Sea (which by the way is one of my favourites). Levi listens to a lot of soundtrack albums and atmospheric stuff with josh listening to a lot of hip hop and a ton of electronic music. There’s a lot of crossover and we all love the classics and such but I think coming from different places musically with some of the stuff we listen to and knowing that we each bring a unique piece to the table allows the song to be something more than one persons idea. Not only do I think it challenges us and makes the songs better but I think it also creates something that has the potential to connect with far more people because it  has a piece of each of us in it. What separates you from other bands? We’re a pop band with a punk mentality. What can we anticipate coming from Her Brothers this year? We’ve got a few things coming down the pipe. We’ve got some new releases coming out this year, music videos and even some new songs. We’re really excited about a track we just worked on with a hip hop artist. We sent some stuff back and forth and come up with this collaboration we all love! We seriously can’t wait to share it with everyone. We’ve also got tour dates, a few up and more to come, and are getting excited with the potential of a cross country tour. Connect with Her Brothers on social media: Instagram Twitter Facebook

  • LeTrainiump Delivers New Energetic Hit “Go!”

LeTrainiump is a emerging neon pop artist with a vibe reminiscent to the 80s and 90s emerging out of New Orleans, Louisiana. LeTrainiump released their outgoing hit “Go!”, the multicolored record with a hint of sunshine pop proves to match the overall artistry of LeTrainiump. “Go!” gives you a fluorescent aesthetic that describes the meaning behind fun. As soon as the song begins playing you’re quickly drawn in by the approachable and digestible vintage pop vibes! Since I didn’t have the opportunity to grow up in a time period where pop and rock music felt more carefree and vibrant, I always love listening to music that can place me back in that time period like a musical time machine. “Go!” depicted an image in my head with its noteworthy synthesizers and iconic classic kick drum sound while yet sprinkling a little bit of today’s current groove into the song which makes an all around effervescent hit tune that many people will enjoy in my opinion. Not necessarily a party song, but it’s fitting for any type of event where you want to enjoy good music, dance and cherish the company around you. It’s the teenage spirit that’s shown within the song that will attract the younger generation but it’s the classic vibe that will appeal to the older generation, making LeTrainiump an enthusiastic and well diverse act to follow. Listen to "Go!" here and be sure to check out our exclusive interview with LeTrainiump below! Hey there, care to introduce yourself to our readers? What Up! I’m LeTrainiump a pop artist , singer/songwriter, & producer from New Orleans, La. I recently debuted as an emerging artist with my single “Think.” & plan to bring any listener into my neon pop filled world with my latest release “Go!”. How did you guys form the name “Letrainiump”? That ones easy! I got the name from my mom who named me LeTrainiump when i was born! Growing up i always avoided that name & preferred nicknames. It was actually my former guitarist, Josef Barr, who first mentioned that I should be known by my actual name as an artist, he said he felt as if it was too original not to use. Naturally i fought against that but after years of wanting to be in the music industry & a self producing artist, I finally embraced my name and realized you can’t run from who you are! Do you have any older musical influences or inspirations? If so who and why? Yes actually! My top 3 would have to be Michael Jackson, David Bowie, & Lauryn Hill. Michael Jackson’s energy is so much to me and something i aspire to have. Listening to Michael taught me how to write songs and compose pop music in ways that made you move. Listening to Bowie taught me how to craft sound to movement, also Bowie took my mind musically to a new place and really gave me a new perspective of  sound and gave me that spacey sound i fell in love with. Lastly Lauryn Hill taught me poetic communication (I can listen to her all day everyday) and how to be real. She influenced me to always be myself and let that speak through whatever song I’m writing. I try to be 100% authentic when writing lyrics and try to speak in such a way that everyone can relate. Lauryn Hill taught me that it’s ok to feel and speak about what I’m feeling. I can go one forever about how these and several others have influenced me musically, but I’m pretty sure these three sum it all up! How is your new release different than what you've brought out in the past? In the past I’ve tried to make my influences very subtle in my music, having bits and pieces reflect the time era or aesthetic that inspires me the most. What’s changed about that is now I’m pretty upfront with these new songs. My latest releases have really captured the aesthetic and vibe I put off and i find  them to be a very upfront description of my world as an artist. If you could describe your artistry to any type of fruit or animal what would you describe yourself as and why? Hahaha! I love this question and if i had to be honest, the first thing that came to mind is a flamingo or several together. One time I watched a video with several flamingos moving together in a pond. It seemed like a party, all of the birds moved together in the same direction yet they were all kind of doing “their own thing”. When i think of my artistry i tend to think of one big party that we’re all apart of yet are all individuals. It’s probably not that deep of a meaning but it looked cool! What’s your favorite component of making music? One of my favorite components of making music would have to be finding different rhythms and letting each instrument speak through them! I have several different versions of every song I’ve released simply because when I’m listening back to the songs i constantly hear different rhythms & am always tempted to change them. Eventually i stick with one version & go with it. It’s like a mini adventure with every song I write. Have you ever created any mellow or subtle music before? Yes actually but I’ve never released any of it. I’m working on a few songs and tracks at the moment that could easily be more subtle or mellow but I guess we’ll see if those songs stay that way or change.
