- Hillsboro’s Got Your Back On Their New Release, “Exit Plan”
The Victoria, BC-based outfit won’t abandon or disappoint you on their new release. After racking numerous accolades, including “Band of the Month” on The Zone 91.3 with their mesmerizing sound, Hillsboro has quickly garnered a local buzz of the strength of their artistic vision and ability to connect to their listeners. With the band of friends having been constantly songwriting before they could legally drive, their keen emphasis on making music filled with the human experience and meaning has quickly endeared them to audiences and listeners everywhere. Formed in 2019, Hillsboro began as Nima Walker’s project and artistic refuge. Walker would soon convince his friends to embark on his musical journey together, and the rest, as they say, is history. He would be joined by Dexter Hodgins on fiddle and drums, Oliver Hollingshead on drums, Tucker Hoey on bass, and Samuel Wells on guitar. The band’s unique sound, characterized by melancholic melodies and gritty textures, swiftly gained recognition in the Pacific Northwest music scene. Its commitment to crafting timeless melodies sets Hillsboro apart, with each member honing their production skills from a young age, blurring the line between songwriting and production as they skillfully navigate musical adventures. “Exit Plan,” the latest release from Hillsboro, is a three-minute journey of alternative bliss. Accompanied by a captivating music video that has that perfect nostalgic feeling of punk rock eras in the past, Hillsboro captivates you with another fantastic performance. Dropping lyrics like “Forget yourself, I guess it aches / Don’t want to hear it anyway” and “Just find me when you want to leave” “Exit Plan” may initially sound more upbeat than its introspective lyrics indicate, but this adds another layer of depth to an already excellent song. Hillsboro’s “Exit Plan” is both a highly enticing musical offering and an indication of good things to come in the future. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream Hillsboro’s “Exit Plan,” out June 23rd, and also be sure to check out the music video. Keep an eye out for their self-titled debut LP set to release on September 15th, later this year, and pleasant listening. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Hillsboro! We loved “Exit Plan,” and we had to ask! What was the inspiration behind this song? Could you take us through the creative process for it? We wanted to make a track that sounded like The Strokes were a shoegaze band. The song is about getting into trouble and feeling bored and tired. It was inspired by my partying way too much and feeling jaded about it all. I kept only just getting out by the skin of my teeth. It’s about your parents asking how you’re doing without any idea of what's going on. It’s about seeing your closest friends be fuckups but doing it all yourself anyway. So you mentioned you guys have been friends for a while, even before Hillsboro! How did all of you get so close, and how does your friendship help the creative process for Hillsboro as a group? Growing up, we were all around one another, playing in different bands and going to shows. Sizing each other up, maybe. Sam and Olli are childhood friends. I knew Dexter from school. Music is just how we hang out; it's our favorite thing, so we've gotten used to being vulnerable around each other. Creatively, that makes you really free together if you can be vulnerable. Are there any artists you’re enjoyed listening to lately, and do you all have a favorite musical memory together? Dexter and I have been really into this guy Kraus. That's all I've listened to for like 3 days now. I can't speak for the others, but my favorite memory is probably rehearsing for our first show. I felt so lucky to have this band. I almost cried. How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard it before, and if your listeners could take one message away from your music, what would you want it to be? People at shows have told us we sound like Deftones meets the strokes, which is funny but sums it up nicely. The one message I want people to take away is that you can and should dig your pain out with your friends. I've been through some incredibly dark experiences, and that catharsis has kept me afloat. Shits fucked; come hang out. What’s next for Hillsboro? Your debut LP releases in September, right? Are there any songs on the LP you’re especially excited for your listeners to hear? Yeah, September 15th. We actually can't wait. It's been such a long time coming. We have a lot planned; my brain is like 3 projects ahead. From the album, though, there's a song called "Black Hill (MASSIVE)" that I'm excited for people to hear finally. I think it's the best thing I've done. Instagram Facebook
- Vickis Dream Takes You On A Wild, Post-Apocalyptic Musical Journey With “Morbid”
The Atlanta-based collective gets creative for their latest release and music video. In October 2017, something special was cooking down in Atlanta, Georgia. The creative forces of shadow and light collided, giving birth to the extraordinary musical sensation of Vickis Dream. Comprised of members Toxic Thomas, Brince, Crow, and Fantazma, Vickis Dream boasts a diverse yet unique creative vision and has quickly established itself as an exciting act. Blending punk, goth, and metal influences, Vickis Dream has forged a signature “post-apocalyptic” sound that has captivated listeners, enveloping them in expansive soundscapes and transporting them to a world teetering on the edge of chaos. The four maestros behind Vickis Dream initially bonded over their love for diverse music genres. With their driving melodies and haunting tones, the band is fiercely committed to weaving musical tapestries that define convention and encapsulate the darkness and resilience of their post-apocalyptic narrative. Drawing inspiration from punk’s rebellious spirit, goth’s ethereal aura, and metal’s raw power, they’ve hit a sweet spot, expertly balancing and navigating each influence. The result is a truly unique musical experience that will leave you wanting more. The song and accompanying music video for “Morbid,” one of Vickis Dream’s most recent releases, push the listener even deeper into the captivating fantasy word Vickis Dream has created. The music video seems interestingly divided into two parts; as a diary labelled ‘Dreams’ opens, we are transported to a church. In black and white footage, we see a bride in a black dress and veil escorted by robed figures whose faces are obscured. As what seems to be a sinister plot begins, we hear the lyrics “Dance with me on the moon / I sleep with death, and morbid is my love” as an eerie figure grins from behind the curtain. The second half of the video sees a change in location to fields somewhere outside, and as the figures burn a paper with the word ‘Goodbye’ on it, we see them lock hands in a circle, chanting before ultimately fading away. The rare music video perfectly complements the song, leading to a cohesive experience that fans of punk and rock will surely enjoy. In “Morbid,” Vickis Dream has created a visual and audible experience that fans of the punk, goth, and metal aesthetic can't be missed. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and check out “Morbid,” available on all major streaming platforms, and also check out the music video on Youtube. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Vicki’s Dream! We loved “Morbid”; it was a cohesive project from start to finish, and we think you nailed the punk and goth spirit and aesthetic with this one! We must ask, where did the inspiration behind “Morbid” the song come from? The inspiration behind “Morbid” is the beauty we find in death, the macabre, or anything that has to do with when all things end. For instance, you know that question we all get asked, "What would you do if you died tomorrow?'' Typically, anyone's answer is they would have something to do with living out their final hours in the most lavish and meaningful way possible. There is a universal fascination with the ookie spooky of the afterlife and the unknown. “Morbid” embodies the acceptance, romance, and excitement through the darkness that awaits all of us. From Vicki’s standpoint, it also reflects her morbid curiosity about death and the ghosts that haunt her from her past. Where did you find the inspiration for the music video, and what was your favorite part of seeing the video's vision come to life? Over the decades, we found much inspiration for the video through our story of Vicki's quest, nature, and horror movies. You can find a lot of symbolism while watching the video, but we wanted to leave it open to the viewer’s interpretation of what it all means to them. We knew we wanted to make it avant-garde and spooky, and we believed we achieved that by incorporating the Sisters of The Valley, the demonic figures in the long black cloaks who follow and guide Vicki. Honestly, it was unbelievable how it all came together. Fantazma: "I remember seeing the rough cut for the first time at our Director's house and just being in complete disbelief that we pulled it off. I watched it four more times and recorded it on my phone. I was so excited I drove to Crow's house at 10:30 pm and about kicked down his door demanding that he see it, then we watched it four more times." Do you have a favorite musical memory together as a band? Goth Prom, which Vision Video and several other premier DJs hosted. We all packed up and did it big for a weekend in Athens in which we all booked a room at the Hyatt and danced the night away at The Cine to classic goth, new wave, and industrial tunes. How would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before? It’s a wild ride that packs a punch. Our debut album has got a little bit of everything for everybody. “Morbid” is unique among all the songs on the album and has those Depeche Mode/Blondie vibes that make you want to get up and dance. We’ve had some articles published on our album, and one such article from writer Maddie M. at Lost In The Nordics stated we sounded like Jane’s Addiction, White Zombie, Black Flag, The Cramps, Bauhaus, and more! Fans have also described our sound in the likes of The B-52s having intercourse with The Misfits and AFI copulating with The Go-Go's while dressed as Alice Cooper. Buzzslayer’s blog states, “Vickis Dream is an undertaking that demands your attention with driven riffs and hard-hitting vocals. Vickis Dream talks about our protagonist’s dreams and life experiences and challenges you to think. With driven and moody music in the background, what more could you want?” What’s next for Vicki’s Dream? Do you have anything you’d like to say to your fans? We are currently working on songs for the new album, and we’d love to tour at some point this year. We will also be expanding our line of merchandise with cool spooky things people can use in their day-to-day lives. There may even be room for a burlesque calendar down the line. We’ll see. We’d love to give a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. Your support means the world to us, and we’d love to hear from you, so feel free to message us anytime on any of our social media profiles on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc. We truly love you all, and to anyone going through a hard time, you are not alone. There is a light at the tunnel's end; consider us friends in the darkness. Instagram Facebook
- Twilight Muse’s New Single Will Stay In Your Heart “Forever”
Twilight Muse is an indie-rock duo composed of the unique talents of Meg Pollaro and Andrew Shapiro, who draw upon their personal experiences to create enchanting music reflecting love, life, and longing. Their artist moniker embodies their self-reflective artistry, with “Twilight” symbolizing a certain stage in one’s life and “Muse” as a source of inspiration. Drawing from a diverse palette of genres like Americana, new wave, and modern R&B, their songs are narrative tales presented through insight, wisdom, and skillful lyricism. Meg and Andrew met at an open jam session in 2019, where their initial chemistry blossomed into a vast collection of compositions. As Twilight Muse prepares to unveil their debut album, "Forever" is the first song to offer listeners a preview into the duo's captivating sonic realm. The melody of "Forever" is a mesmerizing modern take on the R&B genre, with lyrics inspired by "Breadcrumbs" written by poet Elizabeth Estella — a poem crafted for Meg and her husband's wedding. "Forever" begins with a soft piano melody and warm synths, leading to a series of relaxed drum beats. Once Meg’s rich vocals grace the track, they reveal the story of a woman persistently avoiding love. After a few lines, Andrew’s harmonies intertwine seamlessly with hers, creating a soulful and euphoric ambiance. The phrase, "She never knew she wanted something, this is why there's a word for forever," is a testament to the song’s core message; the portrayal of love's endurance. Listeners of "Forever" will find solace, knowing that love will always find you no matter how far you wander. Welcome to BuzzMusic Twilight Muse; congratulations on the release of "Forever" off your anticipated new album. Can you take us through creating “Are You In?" Like many songs, "Are You In?" started with a guitar riff - the back-and-forth acoustic strum that opens the tune. That alternating led immediately to the chorus lyric, a question we've all asked or at least wondered about a romantic partner: Are you in? Or are you out? We wrote the lyrics with help from our musician friend Fritz Michel. Are there any specific influences (ex: artists, songs) that have significantly shaped your musical style? Our influences are diverse, ranging from Americana to new wave to modern R&B. "Are You In?" has a rootsy, Nashville sound. We trade verses, which we frequently do, with inspiration from duos like Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, or even Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. As you’re working towards releasing your new album, how has your relationship with music evolved from early beginnings to the present? It's changed a lot as we've written more songs together and grown more confident as songwriters and performers. It all stems from the power of our creative partnership, which we feel has a magical element of kismet to it. What can fans expect from your upcoming album in terms of its themes or musical style? Our songs are eclectic - from sensual, slow-burn ballads and contemplative, mid-tempo tunes to frisky rockers - and are informed by our love of truly diverse music. Thematically, we write about real-life experiences like being in a long-term relationship, raising kids, and getting older. And we address these universal themes alternately from a female and male perspective. How do you hope your music impacts your listeners? Consider our name. “Twilight” is a time of day but also suggests a stage in one’s life. “Muse” can mean being absorbed in thought or an artistic source of inspiration. We want our music to be fodder for reflection, questioning, and creativity. As one of our reviewers wrote, our music "explores something you're probably familiar with but never really stop to think about fully.” Instagram Facebook

The veteran performer can’t stop and won’t stop rocking you out with his energizing new single. Since 2003, Jay Luke has been carving his path in the music industry, relentlessly pouring his heart and soul into his performances and songwriting with diligence few can compare to. With a career that spans nearly two decades, Jay is a seasoned veteran of the stage, rocking out audiences and sharing stages with iconic names like Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, W.A.S.P., Metal Church, and Joey Belladonna of Anthrax, among others. Now looking towards a career as a solo artist, Luke is eager to make his mark and show off his electrifying skills. Ever the go-getter, after facing frustrations with band lineups and the challenges of releasing official band albums, Jay Luke took matters into his own hands. His debut solo album, aptly and amusingly titled “It’s About Time,” was recorded between 2016 and 2017. “It’s About Time” signified both Luke’s ability not to take himself too seriously but also his determination to take control of his musical destiny. His last album, “Alone in the Crowd,” which arrived in March 2021, racked up over 130,000 streams, with listeners’ imaginations and hearts captured by Luke’s evocative songwriting and captivating performances. Now, Jay Luke is gearing up to rock out his audiences again with his latest album, “Me And My Demons,” set to debut in the Fall of 2023. His latest release, the titular single “Me and My Demons,” is already making waves and heralds the continuation of greatness we’ve come to express from Luke. Over energetic, high-energy instrumentals led by a wicked electric guitar, Luke drops lyrics like “It’s only me. Me and my demons / An endless dark I dream of dreaming,” soaring over his instrumental performance like an eagle and bringing listeners to new heights. It’s an excellent old immersive rock experience that will get you pumped up, and we can’t wait to see what the album will bring. Jay Luke's unwavering dedication, persistence, and commitment to authentic Rock N’ Roll continue to shine through in his music. When you’re ready, tap in and stream Jay Luke’s new single “Me and My Demons,” watch for the whole album in Fall 2023. Welcome to Buzz Music, Jay Luke! We loved “Me and My Demons." What a titular track for your album! We had to ask, could you take us through the creative process for this track? What was the inspiration behind it? First off, thank you for the kind words. The process creatively for this song began as I got inspired by an old Vincent Price horror movie where he looked on one shoulder and saw a devil, then turned to the other shoulder to find a devil, where you would expect him to see an angel. I liked that idea, as most humans always battle light and dark or good and evil within themselves. Most of the inspiration came from visual things like that, which stuck with me since I was a child, and everything fell into place from there. The artwork also was a tip of the hat to early 1900s turn of the century Magician performance posters. I'm a graphic designer, so with the photography done by a good friend Eugene Lucas at EjL3 PHOTOGRAPHY, we got the right shots thanks to my friends Dorothy Dietrich and Dick Brooks at the Houdini Museum here in Scranton, PA, who kindly provided me with a strait jacket (which is a sentence few people get to say) we got the perfect image to correlate with the song. It deals with the madness many of us face in this modern life of deadlines, pressure, anxiety, exhaustion, insomnia, and surviving hardships. As someone who’s been so established and respected in the industry for a while, what’s the biggest change you’ve noticed in rock n’ roll from the heyday of Guns N Roses to today? Well, there are so many differences from that era to now it is tough only to name a few. When I was growing up, I had two goals, one was to make an album, and the other was to make a million dollars from it. One can now be done without even leaving your house, and the other is practically impossible. Making a million dollars from an album is as unrealistic now as saying, "Hey, let's go and have dinner on Mars." The days of radio play, music videos on television, charts, and people buying physical copies are sadly behind us. The main things these days are likes, views, streams, and downloads. When I got a new album as a kid, I would hold the physical copy in my hand and stare at the album cover in a trance as if I was transported into that world while listening with a zen-like focus. It was also nice to read along the lyrics, see who was involved in each album, and check the liner notes on who my favorite artists thanked and mentioned. I would study all that as if I were to take an intense exam on it everything I listened to. I find it sad that all we are given as we listen to music is a small artwork thumbnail. It is all about adapting, though in the current state of music, you must find a way to make it all work. The one thing that never changes is that you must always get out there and play live and promote your music anywhere and everywhere you can. As much as I would love to complain that it's not as profitable as it used to be, there is no use when it won't change anything. You must wear your helmet, put your head down, and run through all the obstacles. One thing on the plus side of today is that when you put out new music, your reach is instantaneous all over the planet. It used to take a lot of pushing to get your music to other countries, and now it is released and available globally. The cool thing about that is you can keep track of where your music is played most, giving you an idea of where to market and promote things easier knowing. For anyone trying to follow in your footsteps, what do you think is the most important quality for a musician to have? Personally, I find one or two things to be most important. To never live in your past and rest on your laurels so much that you can't see ahead. They say not to stare in the rear-view mirror as you're not going that way. As proud as I am of some achievements, releases, videos, and shows, I believe deeply that the next release will improve. Someone once said that satisfaction is the death of desire, and I always took that statement to heart. It is hard to balance being proud of what you've done and not dwelling upon it so much that you don't move forward. Instead of complaining about things not working, keep at it till they work out. And the biggest piece of advice is to listen to your heart because a critic's opinion means nothing in the big picture. Taking constructive criticism is one thing, but many people are so busy trashing the works of others they fail to see they have achieved nothing of substance while focusing on bringing others down. Most people crumble to that need to be accepted by a critic, and they don't see when you are criticized harshly in certain ways. It is almost always done by someone doing less than you, never more than you. Stay true to your heart; that is the best advice for anyone from any walk. I once heard an amazing piece of advice that went like this on dealing with how other's opinions of your heartfelt work should be taken: A young artist is exhibiting his work for the first time, and a well-known critic is in attendance. The critic asks the young man: “Would you like to hear my opinion of your work?” “Yes,” says the young man. “It’s worthless,” the critic says. “I know” the artist replies, “but let’s hear it anyway.” Your next album, “Me and My Demons,” is slated for release in the fall. What was your favorite part of bringing the vision for this album to life, and are there any songs you’re especially excited to share with your fans? Each release is very personal and will always be a snapshot in time that describes what I was doing, thinking, feeling, and going through. It is very autobiographical. This release has been therapeutic in so many ways. I tried a different approach with the songs, writing them as close to entering the studio as possible. In contrast, many of my other songs had been written sometime earlier and changed or edited several times, but these songs were as fresh as possible when they were recorded. I had considered the working title "Winging It" as the songs seemed to be flowing, but ultimately, I decided on "Me and My Demons" as it dealt closer to the material itself and things I was going through—a look inside a person's mental struggles and how they handle them. I think a HUGE amount of credit in the creation process goes to Michael "Duds" McDonald on lead guitar, who takes the songs as I present them and brings them to a whole new level with his fills, leads, and incredible solos. The initial idea of being a solo artist felt like a journey I would take alone, but on the last 3 albums, he has been a musical brother to me in making these songs come to life. I cannot say enough good about his style, his effortless cool in playing some of the most melodic and complex things, his personality, and how easy he has been to collaborate with. Joe Loftus and Jay Preston have been the producers of all my albums and deserve a massive amount of credit. Joe has been on double duty as the bassist, so it is understood that without these massive components in my life, these albums would sound a lot different. I am extremely grateful for their friendships and amazing work ethic. As far as any particular song I want to share with fans, it is like choosing a favorite child. I love them all. Each song fits into the story or concept as a brick that builds the whole thing. What’s next for Jay Luke? Do you have anything you want to say to your fans? After some more promotion of this single, the next thing is to prepare for the promotion of the full-length album. This year alone, I will have close to 50 performances, so it is an ongoing thing to keep myself out there to new audiences. Some other big news is that at the time we are discussing this, I hit a monumental landmark musically where my catalogue has now reached over 300,000 streams on Spotify. So, to the fans that have made such a thing possible, I may not make that million dollars I spoke of earlier, but things like that make me feel like the richest man in the world. Knowing the songs that I wrote have connected with that number of people near and far is a feeling that you cannot ever forget. It is indescribable and unbelievable to me. To the fans, I THANK YOU sincerely from the bottom of my heart! I hope you like this new single, and I hope you'll love the new album. Instagram Facebook
- Babylung Releases A Poetically Driven Soulful Vibe With “Aliyah’s Song”
Babylung is an artist who was born into a family of musicians and was raised in the church himself. His music is specifically catered towards capturing the authentic struggles of love and life as a millennial. Babylung curiously experimented with a multitude of different instruments and sang in choirs. However, it wasn’t until he got his first hand in urban music that he found his niche! Upon listening to Kendrick Lamar, Babylung became inspired to freestyle rap. That was the moment the young 12-year-old found his true passion and calling for music. He would then grow up battling at school, performing at parties, reciting spoken word poetry, and winning talent shows. Accompanied by the production sonics nostalgic of the 90’s Neo-soul/R&B movement, and the dynamics of urban contemporary, the 20-year-old Surrey raised Filipino- Canadian aims to connect to the culture at large through his thought-evoking lyrics and tender voice. Babylung released the riveting single titled “Aliyah’s Song” and this really moved me. From the instance, The acoustic chords before Babylung’s warm vocals transitioning in completely had me captured with the song. - Manifest Success With Lyndon Laveaux And His New Single, “23”
The Miami-born MC and Rapper Lyndon Laveaux has returned to Buzzmusic with a fresh, energetic hit single, “23." Laveaux keeps the consistency and wordplay he’s known for alive and thriving. “23 is the year of me; 23 is the year of we”. This new record is an absolute banger and an ode to success. It’s a perfect manifestation of having a prosperous year. This uplifting record begins with heart-wrenching orchestral strings that evoke the same emotions as being in the locker room before a championship game. But the game is life, and the listener is here to win. As the beat drops in with heavy 808s pushing a monstrous trap beat, envisioning a champagne celebration is no struggle. It is all you can see. This record makes you want to jump out of bed and take on any adversity that DARES to stand in the way of you and your success. “Lesson learned, my turn.” We all make mistakes, yet Lyndon Laveaux has absorbed what needed to be learned and is now in his Super-Saiyan form, propelling us forward with every bar. The journey from the commencement of Laveaux’s career to now has been one to note. With numerous mentors who have continually impacted the growth of his craft and the projection of his career, he never fails to give credit where it is due while always shining a light on the importance of community, collaboration, and improvement. Whether it’s the motivation you’re seeking or classic high-energy hip hop, this new record provides both and everything in between. Soak in the infectious encouragement on Lyndon Laveaux’s new single, “23,” out now on all streaming platforms. It’s a pleasure having you on BuzzMusic again, Lyndon Laveaux. It seems your upward trajectory shows no signs of stopping. What would you say have been your main sources of motivation for your perseverance in your career? Man, first and foremost, thank you for supporting me through the years. It's meant a lot to me truly, never enough words, and to answer your question, what's my source of motivation? Well, it begins with self; my belief in my actions has always held me down despite what friends or family may say. I’ve had people close to me tell me to stop what I’m doing; those moments hurt me immensely, but what kept me going was the idea that it would pay off. I observed my growth through the years and understood, as the great Nipsey Hussle expressed, this thing is a marathon. I knew I was getting better. The world just needed to catch up, or maybe I needed to get better, but regardless, I knew I brought a lot to the Zeitgeist of Hip Hop. In addition, I’m inspired by my peers, from those who are in my genre and those who aren’t. I strongly believe steel sharpens steel, and we can get better by observing each other. Congratulations on your release, “23” is an incredibly infectious record. Were there any significant events that inspired the success-directed lyrics? I wish there were a braggadocious reason I wrote this record, but it came from an insecurity that was high time I secured. I had a panic attack earlier this year. I'm fortunate to be around some significantly talented people on this journey. This can be fuel; at other times, imposter syndrome is happening. At the time of the panic attack, I was on the latter, but when I found myself out of it with the help of therapeutic techniques, etc., I decided to write just for the sake of it, which ended up being an EP that 23 was the single off of. There’s freedom in honoring your truth while simultaneously advancing your artistry. So consider this record an affirmation of myself. With so many influences and helping hands along your path to today, do you find it difficult to keep so many relationships intact? I did at one point, but what’s helped me with that is the understanding that relationships change, they evolve and sometimes devolve, but my saving grace is that whoever is in my circle, whoever reps Swaggfia (my music collective), is supposed to be here. I’m grateful for those in my life artistically. You have stated your mother's influence and her musical tastes early on in your life, including the quote, “Words have power.” Would you say that “23” is geared towards speaking success into existence? I know wholeheartedly that my team and I are gonna EAT. It took me a minute to believe I could be at the forefront of that success. Trauma/insecurity kept me from being confident in myself, but I learned that words have real power through healing and the amalgamation of necessary steps. I advise those reading this to trust your intuition; your soul has all the answers, and keep trusting the third eye. What does the trajectory for the rest of the year look like for your fans? Is there more heat on the way? More anthems are coming, meaning mad music coming with a fierceness. Swaggfia coming through heavily. Young Tez’s Life Happens is out right now! I have my EP coming, and Rocki So Crazi (The Princess of Swaggfia) got SO MUCH top-tier sounds coming y’all way! Visuals will be coming something serious as well; best believe we coming through HEAVY!! What I can say to my fans is, thank you for rockin' me, and know that what’s to come will immensely top shelf. - Pyschocide’s Back And Better Than Ever With Their New Release, “Toxic”
The LA-based outfit pulls out all the stops on their new, rock-tinged spin on the pop classic. On a fateful night in New York City during the cold winter of November 2012, the musical stars aligned for Psychocide’s creation. Fuelled by Jack Daniels and Notting Hill Bin 808 red, conversations flowed freely. Following some unguarded conversations and the strums of a Yamaha F-310p acoustic guitar, the accidental birth of “Street Named Desire” took place, marking the inception of something extraordinary. Known for playing with an infectious freeness that’ll have you on your feet in no time, Psychocide’s sound feels both enticing and limitless. Eager to share their music with the world, Psychocide set their sights on Los Angeles, but fate would have other plans. Following a wild stop in San Diego that nonetheless resulted in self-realization, the album “Alcohol & Bad Decisions” was birthed, an impressive project in its own right. Having somehow ended up in Montreal, Canada instead after their San Diego stop, the band enjoyed three more successful years before nonetheless disbanding in 2019. However, they’ve risen from the ashes to once again bless us with good music, and there’s no telling where they’ll take us this time. “Toxic”, Psychocide’s latest creation is a wickedly delicious spin on the iconic Brittney Spears pop classic. Masterfully flipping the familiar instrumentals, Psychocide’s cover includes wicked guitar riffs and an edge that goes perfectly with lyrics like “With a taste of your lips, I'm on a ride / You're toxic, I'm slippin' under” and “With a taste of a poison paradise / I'm addicted to you”. - Music’s Favorite Outlaw Shows Off His Versatility With The Smooth And Inspiring “Reach”
San Diego's Marc Oliver switches up his style to bring us this inspirational and uplifting new release. In the ever-shifting and highly competitive landscape of music, few artists possess the audacity and ability to traverse multiple genres with effortless flair. San Diego’s music outlaw Marc Oliver is one of those artists. A versatile recording artist and singer-songwriter whose illustrious career has spanned an impressive 25 years, Oliver’s unique fusion of R&B, alternative, rock, and pop has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide, establishing him as a significant force in the industry. Where someone as musically talented as Oliver is concerned, it is no surprise that his musical journey was set in motion from an early age. Reluctantly pushed into piano practice by his mother at the tender age of three, no one could foresee the illustrious career that would follow. Signing his first record deal fresh out of high school, Oliver embarked on a transformative journey that saw him relocate to the vibrant music hub of Los Angeles. It was there that his debut album, crafted under the expert guidance of The Matrix, catapulted him into the limelight. Coincidentally, during this period, he found himself in an esteemed company, sharing studio space with rising star Avril Lavigne, who is also working with The Matrix. “Reach,” Oliver’s latest release, sees him (temporarily) trade his “Outlaw” ways for a softer approach. Over gentle instrumentals led by a tender and graceful guitar, Oliver drops lines like “I heard that voice inside of me, my mama’s words speakin' free / she said, reach out reach out to the stars” with a sincere cadence that makes the entire song feel instrumental. When the beat draws to a close, it feels like Oliver has guided you through a storm, and the sun is just starting to shine through the clouds. Throughout his illustrious career, Oliver has graced stages at renowned festivals, sharing the stage with icons such as Jewel, Pat Benatar, and John Legend. His uncanny ability to blur the boundaries between alternative rock, pop, and R&B has garnered him a dedicated fanbase eager to embrace the unexpected with each release, and with “Reach,” he’s performed his magic once again. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream “Reach,” available now on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Marc Oliver, and congratulations on your latest release, "Reach." We loved "Reach;" what an uplifting new release! We had to ask, what gave you the inspiration behind this song? What was your favorite part about making it? I was having some low points in my life at the time of writing this. As a career artist/writer/musician, I have dealt with much self-doubt. So I stood with my guitar staring at the mirror, and started writing about how things get hard, but I will battle through and believe in myself, just like my mom used to say, and the song just came out. I had to remind myself to do it, Reach out, Reach up to the stars, do it. Believe. My favorite part about making this song was working on it with Beto. Beto and I have been making music for the better part of the last ten years, and when this song came up, we molded it so beautifully that you couldn't help but smile in the studio when recording. We had such an amazing time while putting this together. It’s been a while since we last saw you with “Outlaw!" What have you been up to, and what tunes are you bumping this summer? “Outlaw” was a fun one. Since then, I have released two other songs, “Woman” and “Castaway” They are doing great. I love those songs. All of those I recorded over a year ago and just wanted to get them out before I start this next run. All I have been bumping right now are the 20 other songs I am finishing to release, haha. But I’ll get down with everything from One Republic to Eazy-E, Beach Boys to green day this summer. There is always something for every occasion. You’re a huge veteran in the industry, and you’ve had an amazing career. Do you have any advice you’d like to give anyone who might be trying to follow in your footsteps? Thank you. My advice would be… Lead with your heart. Be yourself before anything. People might judge, but no one cares. Everyone is just worried about themselves. Be you and give that to the world with love. Write, play, record, release. Over and over and over again. Practice every day, practice, and play your songs every day. Play live for people all the time. Film everything, post everything. If you do all of that, success will find you. What do you want fans to feel when they listen to your music? I would love for everyone to feel how I feel when I play my songs. Alive. Music gives us such an amazing touch on our own lives and emotions. Listening, dancing, and singing along should make you feel free. Free to be Alive. I hope that everyone finds fun while hearing my music. What’s next for Marc Oliver? Do you have any new music coming soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans? Yes, lots of music. I will release a new single EVERY MONTH for the next two years. The next one comes out on July 7th. “SURF SONG” is a fun summer song that will get you dancing. Thank you for all your support. I can’t wait to see everyone dancing and having a good time at the live shows. Come say hi, and enjoy all the music that is coming out. Instagram
- Rey Returns to Sweep You off Your Feet With The Irresistible New Hit “Without You”
The NY artist channels diverse influences to craft a track for your dancing pleasure. Rey is an artist whose creative endeavors span multiple genres. Operating mainly out of the Bronx and Washington Heights (although he’s been known to venture to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico), Rey has quickly become known for his ability to channel his vibrant surroundings and put that into his music. Like a skilled painter, Rey can tastefully find inspiration from almost anything, including invigorating workouts, the influence of his brother, and perhaps most captivatingly, the ever-evolving intricacies of life itself. Rey's musical journey commenced during his early teenage years, around 14 or 15. It was ignited by a medley of events and opportunities, including his brother's possession of the Atomix VirtualDJ mixer, FL Studio, and Rey's school involvement in poetry slams. The convergence of these elements, coupled with his brother's beat-making skills, created an irresistible current that propelled him into the world of music. Flowing with the natural progression, Rey embraced his musical inclinations and pursued his artistic calling. Rey’s most recent release, “Without You,” is a testament to the colorful palette of influences he incorporates into his music. He skillfully balances different genres, utilizing vocals tinged with R&B influences with a vibrant and inherently danceable electronic instrumental tinged at times with reggaeton. Dropping lyrics like “She will be loved, in the club,” “I can’t believe what’s next without you,” and “I can’t be all that I am, without you,” “Without You” is sure to sweep you off your feet with the urge to start moving and dancing. With an impressive catalog of over 100 releases, Rey’s musical career has gone from strength to strength, and it will only get better from here. Whenever you’re ready, tap in and stream “Without You,” available now on all major streaming platforms. Rey also invites listeners to explore his extensive work on his own website at R-E-Y.com. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Rey! We loved “Without You”, before we knew it we felt ourselves move and start to dance! We have to ask, could you take us through the creative process for this song? "Without You" was written near the end of the 2021 summer. I was in the zone because I remember writing, "Better With Time", "Amazing", "Hands Of Prayer" and "Respect" all within like a month or two. I knew "Without You" was going to be special. The song was produced in Garageband believe it or not. The recording was engineered in Pro Tools. I have no limits when it comes to inspiration. I can make a song about a frame on the wall if you put me in a room with just that. Having all this technology available to create music just makes everything so fluent. It’s been a little while since we’ve last seen you but you’ve been going from strength to strength which is awesome to see. For any of your fans out there hoping to follow in your footsteps, what do you think is the most important quality for a musician to have? The most important quality for a musician is honesty and a spiritual compass to audition different roles. I can't stand artists that are one dimensional. I need to hear something for the street, for the club, for the ladies and where you get your inspiration from. If you want to be like me, you have to compete at a high level, in everything, or try. I hope that doesn't sound too vulgar. You mentioned that you operate out of a couple of different areas, not only in New York but abroad in DR and PR. How have those diverse musical cultures contributed to your identity as an artist? Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Mambo! It's fascinating to integrate everything I've learned from while growing up in New York, into my work. What is your favourite part about making music? I really enjoy engineering. Producing is super cool, writing can be time consuming but worthwhile at the same time. There's a moment in writing when everything just flows. I enjoy everything about making music. Whats next for Rey? Do you have more new music coming soon and is there anything you want to say to your fans? I'd like to say Thank YOU! Next, It's time to take a break. Might drop some beats here and there but I feel like reflecting on the work I've done so far, so, It's that time. Instagram
