  • Cozy Up With The Winter Wonderland Betty Beata Brilliantly Creates

Born in Hungary to a family of musically-inclined Romanian gypsies, Betty Beata quickly took up lead vocals in performances of her culture's beautiful and technically sophisticated folk songs. By age twelve, she'd mastered the classics of bossa nova legend Antonio Carlos Jobim and recorded a selection of his hits. She then launched a house music and jazz project under the moniker Delilah, releasing albums featuring songs with her husband, Berklee-trained smooth jazz maestro Dave Sereny, and Jim Peterik of "Eye of the Tiger" fame. The name Betty Beata pays tribute to both her birth name (Beata) and the anglicization of it (Betty), perfectly representing her journey and the range of genres she's conquered along the way. As we reach the joyous time of year when holiday songs are a staple on our playlists, we’re grateful for them instilling that added Christmas spirit to keep us going through these cold days. Betty Beata thinks in a similar headspace, and we get to thank her for her contributions with her instant holiday hit, "My Favourite Time Of The Year." Through her dazzling vocal performance in this enticing record, we’re propelled into opulent harmonies that wrap us in a blanket of robust warmth. Betty Beata treats us to festive visuals accompanying the feel-good holiday tune, and we’re ushered into a winter wonderland rich in the meaning of Christmas. It pairs with a blend of warm and colourful lights, swooping you into the abundance of love professed through each scene. Whether it's friendship, the romance of lovers or the love you share with your family, Bett Beata makes you feel the passion, further propelling us into a blissful expression of connection. Watch Betty Beata instill adoration into your life with “My Favourite Time Of The Year,” out now on YouTube. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Betty Beata! We’re thrilled to discuss your latest holiday record, “My Favourite Time Of The Year.” You do an exceptional job bringing us into your winter wonderland and making us feel the holiday cheer. What inspired you to venture on the path of creating a Christmas hit and music video? First, I would like to thank you very much for your kind words, and I’m so happy to be here on BuzzMusic. I have always loved Christmas since when I was a little kid. I wanted to write a song representing the people who couldn’t make it home for Christmas. People like our troops serving overseas and longing to be together. I also wanted to share my feelings when Christmas is here. We truly feel the love jumping from the screen as each scene floods us with the ideal holiday setting. What was it like filming the music video for this? Do you happen to have a favorite scene that you filmed? Thank you. We had so much fun filming this video! The video came up very quickly, and we had to scramble to find locations. With good help from great friends, we could shoot at Ilumi. Ilumi is an offshoot of Cirque du Soleil, which are the beautiful lights and displays you see in the video. I wouldn’t say I have a favourite scene as I liked all of it, especially this swing - maybe that’s because I’m a jazzer at heart! What makes Christmas your favorite time of the year? I would have to say, family. There’s nothing like the big family get-togethers, the beautiful meals, singing carols and Christmas standards, and just the spirit! I love it when the snow is falling. It creates such a beautiful scene. I love it. “My Favourite Time Of The Year” has seen great success for the period it’s been out for! Congratulations on being featured in the BET film A Miracle Before Christmas! What has the experience of this been like? Where can we watch the film? The experience has been fantastic. You know, sometimes you get calls and think you’re going to have some breakthrough, and nothing happens. So I’m very grateful for this opportunity because they don’t come around too often, and I just tried to make the best of it. I was very honoured to be included in this film, so I hope we have created a classic. It’s funny that you ask, as we could not watch the film as it was not shown here in Canada. So It was out for a while before we even got to see it. I know it’s playing on Amazon Prime. As for the other locations, I am not sure! I know it played on BET, and I hope it will play again next year. What can we expect to see and hear from you in 2023? I’m in the process of releasing a new record, and we will be doing some videos. There’s one song on there that I like called "Magic!" That will be the first time I have to find my magic wand and cast a spell on the world one note at a time.

  • Mateo Briscoe’s “Insane” Comes From A Level-Head Of Creativity

Like his role model and spirit guide, Amy Winehouse, MateoBriscoe struggles with sleep paralysis, overcoming trauma, navigating identity, and a slew of ticks and eccentricities. Yet, through the trials and tribulations he ventures, he manages to tell everyone's story through his music and connect with individuals on a deeper level - because, like most of us, MateoBriscoe has countless tales to share the hardships. The alluring Sacramento songbird exposes his vulnerability in a new light as he brings forth the unconventional energy of his latest single, "Insane." Conveying a brooding atmosphere with unfiltered guitar riffs, sparse yet impactful percussion patterns, a bassline you feel in your chest and a Southern flair that dips into an edgy ambience, MateoBriscoe invites listeners into this poetic soundscape that's unapologetically candid. Teaming up with Jesse Szabo and Jesse Hanes to emanate this organic energy that streamlines through "Insane," this collection brings life and importance to the song's meaning. Baring his soul upon a blues-rock single that embodies dark nuances, MateoBriscoe unravels issues surrounding mental health as he belts out picturesque lyrics that are riddled with authenticity and profound honesty as the foundation of "Insane" unfolds through the lens of the issues we see in society. There's an impeccable balance of suspense and ruthless delivery throughout this record. Ramping up in intensity as the chorus gives us the poignant prominence of MateoBriscoe's timbres, the verses are a time to dissect the lyrics attentively as the crafty wordsmith he is on full display. Embracing the effervescent attitude spearheading the frontlines of "Insane," we're grateful for the blatant realism MateoBriscoe instills as he calls out the stigmas around mental health and stands up for what he believes in. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Mateo Briscoe, and congratulations on the release of "Insane." We're fully onboard with your messaging and how you deliver your artistry through such a unique lens. What moment or story inspired the creation of this song? Many moments of my life lead to this song. Many of my peers and stepmother didn’t always treat me well as a kid. They always made me feel weird or unlovable because I was different. I would get talked down to for simply thinking, communicating, and acting differently. Those things made me keep to myself and scared me out of being my true self and finding true friends for a long time. As I got older, I got tired of hiding my feelings for others and never feeling like I could speak for myself. It often felt like I wasn’t taken seriously unless people heard my words in a song. So, I used that as motivation. I began writing this song on a day when I was feeling down but also feeling tired of feeling down for being myself. This is the first song I’ve ever written about my personal mental health, hoping it would bring me peace and answers. I love myself and will no longer hide the things that make me who I am. How were Jesse Szabo and Jesse Hanes able to help bring this idea to life? Could you please share a glimpse into the creative process entailed? One of my favorite moments to share with Szabo and Hanes is when we come together to write and record. The first day I came to Let's Go Studio to meet the Jesses, I played "Insane" for them. They were so excited to work on the song; I was lucky to have met them. Usually, when I write a song, I bring it to them, and we jam out to the song and get a feel for it. We have so much fun, and I love watching their creative process. Once we know how we want the song to sound, we sit in the studio and write the official parts for each instrument. There's such a profound dynamic that also oozes from the visuals. What can you tell us about the concept of the music video and what it was like to film this piece? When I wrote the song, I always envisioned a spooky music video to go along with it. I’ve always thought it would be a fun song to release on Halloween. Jesse Hanes found the location for the video and said it matched the song's vibe perfectly. Chris Brice, the director of the video, heard the song and knew exactly what the video needed. He did a fantastic job and brought this song to life. When we walked into the Georgetown Hotel and Saloon, I had no idea it was said to be haunted, but it was the perfect touch for this video. I wanted to reflect on my inner demons as well as make the video fun and spooky at the same time. Did you always know you would end up as a musician? What instance had to happen for you to get to the point of certainty? Truthfully - no, I wanted to become a veterinarian when I was younger. As much as I love music, I love animals. But when I started taking music classes and writing my lyrics, I decided that music is what makes me happy. I was always told that being a musician isn’t a realistic career choice, so I gave up on it for a while. But taking band classes in high school and learning to stand up for myself and my goals helped me realize that I can make this dream a reality. What message do you hope your audience can take from this song? I hope people feel heard and accepted when they hear this song. I hope that they understand that it's ok not to be ok. Just because someone struggles with mental health doesn’t mean they aren’t deserving of love and happy life. Be yourself and love others, treat people how they want to be treated and love yourself! I wrote this song to help myself feel confident and loved, and I hope this song helps others with the same thing. Instagram Twitter

  • Peer Through The Open House Of Will Wheaton With “Lady In My Life”

There's nothing quite like the sweet sound of Will Wheaton's baritone croons flooding your speakers. 2022 marked 30 years since he won an MCA record deal by competing in Dick Clark's USA Music Challenge and professing his buttery smooth cascades to the world. However, the universe had other plans for the burgeoning star, and that deal didn't close due to a shift in priorities. Doing what he does best - Will Wheaton handled this situation with poise and looked at this as another opportunity knocking on his door. The genre-crossing vocal craftsman and master crooner now returns with his latest cover single and music video for "Lady In My Life," a passionate power ballad that has us swimming in the soul-infused timbres Will Wheaton is known for. Taking on this Michael Jackson original, Will Wheaton places his sultry spin through the emotion-fueled performance he unleashes. Fusing his dual lifestyle in a way that keeps the window open to his audience as he lets them into his adoration for music and real estate, this captivating music video reinvents poise and dignity as we get a front-row seat to a showing to remember. His laid-back energy opens the doors to this open house of Wheaton's life and welcomes a curious couple into his humble abode. Placing his playful charisma at the forefront of this expose, we love to see just how authentic and level-headed Wheaton is as he embeds glimmers of his humour into the "Lady In My Life" music video. Emanating a soaring warmth that has listeners and viewers gravitating towards his charming appeal, Will Wheaton shows there's not much he can't do. From his killer performance on the patio of this beautiful home and taking this couple on a home-owner tour of a lifetime, Will Wheaton gives us everything we long for through a transparent and hazy lens fueling the dreams of "Lady In My Life." Welcome to BuzzMusic, Will Wheaton! Congratulations on releasing your latest music video, "Lady In My Life." What inspired this striking rendition of this hit Michael Jackson song? The song has always been a favorite. I love a groove track; it was my favorite song from the Thriller album. The rendition inspired me to perform the song on Dick Clark’s USA Music Challenge. On the show, the audience received it well. The music video had our eyes glued to the screen! How did you develop such a fun concept for this visual, and why did you choose to show pieces of your life apart from the music? For years, I kept both my worlds separate. I didn’t want music people to think I was in real estate and vice versa. My limiting belief was that I would not be taken seriously in either profession. I abandoned that thinking a few years ago and decided to merge my worlds from that day forward. This video was just the perfect opportunity to do more of this. I wanted people to meet the singer and the real estate broker and see how they both did the same thing: make people’s lives better. I was really afraid people would not get it or might be confused. I had to feel the fear and do it anyway. Big thanks to my video director for helping me bring it to the screen. We would love it if you could take us into moments on the set of "Lady In My Life." What memorable stories do you have from filming? The most memorable moment was filming the first couple who ended up scantily clad in the dining room. They thought the scene would be shot in the bedroom under cover of sheets. It took a little convincing when they found out it was going to be in the dining room. They are dear friends and clients as well. My other favorite scene was me singing directly into the camera while walking. It was a last-minute addition. It was very challenging trying to keep up with the camera while singing. I felt like an action hero. We almost ran out of time because the sun was going down. We finished just in time. We love the spin you put on this record. You find a way to make it your own, which truly fits into the Will Wheaton way! How do you approach a cover song versus one of your originals? I was really nervous about tackling this song because of the original artist that recorded it, MICHAEL JACKSON! Who does that? Had I not performed it already on national television with a good outcome, I may not have had the courage to do it. After I overcame my fear of doing it, the goal was to make it fit my voice and vocal ability - something I learned from the late great Luther Vandross. He was a master at remakes. We started by building the track around my voice. Piece by piece, keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, live horns, and strings, then we added the backing vocals. It was an absolute pleasure to do. I have worked with Michael and the writer of this song, Rod Temperton, so I wanted to honor their original work. I hope I have done so. What's your mission statement as a musician? Our world has so many challenges. Love is the one thing that can truly cure all the world’s pain. My best friend’s Mom said to me the other day, “this song makes me want to get a boyfriend.” That lets me know I am on the right track. More love is just what we need. Instagram Facebook

Hit the play button on “BEAUTIFUL DISASTER” and receive your recharge of empowering self-respect. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Avery Grace and congratulations on your single, "BEAUTIFUL DISASTER." What is the story behind the lyrics of “BEAUTIFUL DISASTER” "BEAUTIFUL DISASTER" was empowering to write, create, and hopefully empower those who listen to it. Essentially, this song is about boundaries. We all have our limits in life, relationships, friendships, etc. There’s a point in most situations where we have to discuss or consider our limits. I’ve been in relationships where the other person will push me to the point of no return. Hence, something seemingly beautiful turns to disaster. But it’s for the best. How did you decide what music to give your lyrics? Or was it the other way around? When I started writing songs and making music, I would listen to a track or beat and create lyrics. Since I started working with Teddy Marquee, I have now experimented with different writing techniques. Sometimes we will work on music production, write lyrics OR focus on song structure and lyrics before diving into the production. For this track, I came into the studio with the phrase “Beautiful Disaster,” and we worked off that. What makes “Beautiful Disaster” different from your other works? “BEAUTIFUL DISASTER” is the title track to my recent EP, the first project I’ve written that’s completely based on my experiences and what I’ve seen since moving to Los Angeles. From start to finish, this EP is a story about new experiences, heartbreak, growing up, and so on. As the title track, I used “BEAUTIFUL DISASTER” to set the tone for the rest of the EP. Is there a message you would like to send to your listeners that you couldn’t put in “Beautiful Disaster?" Respect the boundaries of yourself and others. Don’t stay in a situation you know is wrong for you just because it seems beautiful or society tells you to. Stand up for what you know in your heart is right. What’s next for you? I plan to continue to release music and collaborate with more artists this year. I’d love to get back into performing in LA as well. On top of that, I plan to continue my work behind the scenes and grow my songwriting skills. Instagram Facebook

"A Hummingbird Song" is thought-provoking as it whisks you into an oblivion of eclectic melodies nuzzling inside your mind. Each sound that makes up this composition is well thought out and has us dissecting the smaller puzzle pieces forming this dreamy bop rich in harmonies and candescent croons. Written on a Sunday afternoon that brought a flock of hummingbirds to Chris Koehn's apartment, the wistful nature of this record shares a reminder to slow down and take in the beauty of what's around you. Chris Koehn aims to make the listener feel as if they're trapped within a moment and vibrate from the higher frequencies that the perception of time often masks. "A Hummingbird Song" is the sonic representation of this fluttering critter basking you in a cordial visit as you gravitate toward the presence of being in the moment and slow down to enjoy what you're taking in. There's much brilliance in this record, with Chris Koehn's lush vocal performance wrapping the audience in a blanket of assuring lyrical motifs as he encourages stillness. Of course, the counterpart and enthralling collaboration of Reno Rojas take this song into a vivid warmth as she whispers smoky vocals, further indulging us in an atmospheric realm of hazy ambiance. Buzzing from the essence of this song, "A Hummingbird Song" allows us to feast on the array of emotions shed and poignant messaging that radiates from the track's core. It's easy to get lost in this track, and we encourage you to take a moment and do so yourself. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Chris Koehn! We're thrilled to have you here chatting about "A Humminbird Song." You've instilled such a profound message in this beautifully crafted sonic canvas, and we love every moment. Going back to the day of creation, what inspired you to treat this creation moment differently from any other? Probably this is the purest song I’ve written and the fastest one I came up with. I played my guitar on a Sunday afternoon, and a Hummingbird bird arrived at my balcony. So almost immediately, I felt the connection and music & lyrics started flowing. As I where the translator of his message. Reno Rojas adds such a dynamic take to this record. How did this collaboration come to be? What was it like working with one another to bring more life to this song? It was funny; she arrived almost like a hummingbird a couple of months later. Last year I invited a friend to have whiskys at my home, and she invited Reno, whom I didn’t know then. Immediately we started talking about music & cinema and had a nice connection/conversation about it. Afterwards, I invited her to the song, and we recorded & different improvised vocals; her voice gave the song a nice smoky vibe. On a deeper level, it's often said that when a hummingbird visits, it's a message from someone who has passed on. What does "A Hummingbird Song" mean to you, if you don't mind being candid? Indeed it is said that hummingbird’s are messengers from another dimension. We connect with our loved ones who have passed. Lyrics reflect on the perception of time, and how it almost stops when these magical animals visit. A reminder to enjoy every moment and every second. It is said that hummingbirds are messengers from another dimension where we connect with our loved ones who have passed. In my case, my father passed last year, so thinking the hummingbird’s visit might have been him. Recruiting the technical and artistic talents of Roderic Picard at Chapel Studio and co-producer Jerry Quintana, what was it like elevating the energy of the song and sprinkling in their techniques? What was the energy like at the recording session? Roderic’s drums gave the song a different tempo & vibe, which I enjoyed, almost like hummingbird wings moving. Jerry’s contribution as a producer to insert more light into the song (the original version was a bit darker & downtempo) gave a nice energy to the track. Both are very talented, and I feel very grateful to collaborate with them. What's next for you? My new EP is coming out this 2023. "A hummingbird’s song" is part of it. So hopefully, I’ll be playing live on a couple of dates in US. In the meantime, I’m working on new songs & collaborations. Instagram Facebook

Find both singles on all digital streaming platforms and their accompanying music videos on YouTube. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Palms Station. We appreciate the empowering and uplifting nature of your recent singles, "Alive" and "Blue Skies Back." Does your band usually create such emotional yet feel-good songs like these? Well, thank you for noticing! I’m glad it had that effect. If I were a classical composer, I’d write symphonies, not little piano pieces or quartets. I think large-scale and want to have a kind of epic orchestral, choral effect. I like to zoom out to the universal, the global, rather than focus on the minutia of the world as we know it to make people feel the aspiration for something bigger- for me, that’s the ultimate way to deliver emotion and inspiration. Emulating the music of Bach, there is sadness and joy wrapped up in what I do, and this is the sweet spot I go for. What inspired the passionate lyrical concept behind "Alive?" How does the song's music video enhance your message? The song was inspired by my younger daughter Mila, who had a lot of struggles at that stage in her life. Every night she would lie down next to her mother and put her head on her shoulder as her mother spoke softly in her ear and rubbed her head… Over time it had a very therapeutic effect and gave her a new lease on life. The song was written with me imagining the world through her eyes. The goal in the video was to have something incredibly intimate… No cutaways, multiple camera angles… no cast of thousands… Just a lone-face emoting. What moments or experiences inspired your group to create "Blue Skies Back?" What sort of visual experience did you want to provide with the music video? "Blue skies Back" was inspired by events of 2016 and thereafter… I remember writing the lyrics while wandering around the streets of San Francisco, dictating into my phone. I had written the melody and the line “I want my blue skies back” in my den in Los Angeles while noodling around an acoustic guitar. I’m sure the foreboding feeling subconsciously influenced me that things were entering the dark part of a cycle… and me yearning for blue skies, metaphorically and literally. I have a seasonal affective disorder, so when it’s gray and rainy, I get depressed. As such many of my songs feature the sun, blue skies and other things in nature that make me feel elated. The video was literally me going around the world… Several countries in Europe and different ones in America… Trying to show the common experience of the global community and humanity's collective aspiration for a return to normalcy, beauty, and compassion and to be liberated from the man who stole the world. What impact do you hope your music has on listeners? What's your goal with songs like "Alive" and "Blue Skies Back" regarding the listener's experience? Mostly, I want the songs to be uplifting and transformative… I want people to feel better after hearing it than before they heard it… Or at least that they are aspiring to be their best selves. • Selfish Bodies Show Us True Colors Can Be A “Hideous” Sight

Canadian alt-pop-rock trio Selfish Bodies believes music is a universal language. Teaming up Juno nominated production architects Brandon Unis and Robbie Townsend to deliver their latest cinematic record, "Hideous," Selfish Bodies delves a bit further into the new era of music they're presently exploring. Playing within a realm that explores familiar sounds from past decades, with fresh vibes of the 2020s, "Hideous" is a sonic venture worth exploring. A haunting element dwindles within the dramatic reverberations as Selfish Bodies embarks on a dark mission rich with anticipation. Selfish Bodies excels at setting a flame to the composition of "Hideous" as vulnerability and suspense fuel the fire within our hearts. Through each lyric, we're met with a sense of realism and the horror that resides within one's soul as they show off their true colors. Paired with the angelic harmonies that create a subtle yet in-depth dynamic, each musical element works with one another to profess this triumphant soundscape we instantly need more of. The ominous foundation of the instrumentation cradles the poetic lyrics as the emotive timbres sing words that embed themselves into our minds. It's brilliant to hear how this alt-pop-rock trio takes a shine toward textured electronic components that ignite devoted keys, a powerful guitar solo, and an impactful beat drop. Allowing each moment to creep in as it takes over the entire soundscape, the passion conveyed through this entrancing performance is rather monumental. Listen to "Hideous" today on all major streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Selfish Bodies! We adore the energy soaring through your latest release, "Hideous." What inspired this song's concept within the powerful performance you all put on? Thank you for your kind words BuzzMusic! This song was inspired by the ugliness that exists inside all of us, in varying degrees, and the way it can affect ourselves and those around us. This concept is sad but also loud and violent in ways. This is reflected in the instrumentation, as the keys are fairly gentle, and the guitar solo at the end melts your face off. What was it like working with Brandon Unis and Robbie Townsend to bring "Hideous" to life? Any memorable moments from the creative process you care to share? Working with Brandon and Robbie is always a great experience. The Velveteen studio makes you feel like your precious little song will grow into an absolute titan! What helps you to approach your lyrics with such a raw outlook? Do you find this therapeutic in your process? A raw outlook is a product of a heart-on-your-sleeve attitude. In our case, anyways. We try to be as open and vulnerable as possible when writing, hoping that listeners can connect with the music on a deeper level. This process is very therapeutic. Since branching out into this new sound, have you found any difference in your creative process? What does this new sound mean for Selfish Bodies as a collective? There isn’t a huge difference in the creative process, as it’s kind of always been all over the place! Sometimes a song can start with a lyric, a melody in the noggin, or an instrumental part. The start can be different, but the building blocks from there are usually the same, as we all write our parts and jam until we like what we hear and feel. The new sound means that we can explore a bit more freely. Not that we were necessarily boxed in before, but the added electronic elements are so vast that our musical world has exploded with writing opportunity. What's next for you? We will be releasing at least five more songs in 2023 and will be working on an album release as well! That means lots of writing, which is the best. Along the way, we’ll enjoy the daily grind of pushing our songs out into the vast online world, playing shows and making friends, and engaging with awesome people like you! Thank you for the great questions and this opportunity! Instagram Facebook

From big city skylines to the studio, there isn't a single place that Dontae Peeps' doesn't bless with his luxe timbres. Mimicking the golden era of heartfelt, passion-fueled R&B, "Ordinary Love" is a timeless piece that pays homage to the classics while spinning into its own glorious lane. As Dontae Peeps' cruises in a fresh Mercedes, rocking a fabulous gallant red tracksuit and mysterious shades, he later comes home to his girlfriend, and the message that sometimes all it takes is a little time apart to rebalance the energy is written in bold. We could all be reminded to put down our phones and pay attention to the ones we love a little bit more. Get caught up in the motions with Dontae Peeps and unwind with his smooth vibes in "Ordinary Love." Welcome to BuzzMusic, Dontae Peeps, and congratulations on releasing the music video for "Ordinary Love." We love how timeless the approach you took toward this record is. What inspired the concept for the music video? The inspiration to make "Ordinary Love” was love itself- that emotion, that feeling that you can't get enough of, being vulnerable to express joy and hurt at the same time and experience. We all have something we’re passionate about, so why sing and write about it!! What was it like working with the team that you did to bring this vision to life? How long did it take to film, and are there any memorable moments from the set that you care to share? Working with Motion Pictures was great. They understood the concept of building Donell Jones' “Where I Wanna Be,” Usher's "Confessions,” etc. vibe. It just felt the ‘90s - I was excited about all the cool editing ideas we came up with, for example, the driver mirror scene - I loved it - and the knock on the door and look thru the peephole scene was epic; it reminds me of Janet Jackson’s "Any Time." It just seemed like a classic - I knew it would be amazing, and it is! Lol. What's your mission statement as an artist? How does "Ordinary Love" tie into this? My goal and statement for creating are to be remembered. I’ve been doing this for over 20 years. I’ve been blessed to work with some of the greats. I'm still learning daily about my music and life; you could say I’m a human sponge! I want to create music that is relatable and feels good at the same time; I’m humbled to have come this far and excited to see where my maturity and experience are about to take me. “Ordinary Love” ties into this because I’ve been there. I love hard – I’m a Libra, and we are a solid foundation when it comes to love, and when I tell you that I'm pouring every drop of love into my project, I mean that. This is ‘90s music all over again!! You carry such classic and modern sounds through your work. Regarding non-musical influences, who or what do you turn to for inspiration? My inspiration comes from music all over. When I was a kid, my mom made me listen to Stephanie Mills, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Prince, Freddie Jackson, Bobby Brown, and Baby Face - and the list grew. As I got older, I started idolizing jazz artists: Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, BB King, etc. Then there were the groups like Boyz II Men, Silk, and Mint Conditions - I could name so many, but we would be talking for years and decades, lol! We are thrilled to hear that you're working on a full-length project. So what can you tell us about your upcoming album, '1990?' I wanted to name the album 1990 because I love the groove from groups like Guy, Color Me Bad, Bobby Brown, and Keith Sweat - when hip-hop stood for something. I took time to learn what I wanted to sing and write about. I think today’s artists don't take the time to write clever melodies or songs. I wanted it to be more about the music: the percussion, chords, and arrangements, the concept of the story that drives it to be more heartfelt. A song that reminds me of everything from when "New Jack" first started to when R&B was incredibly unreliable. I called this style “gumbo” cause this is a style to keep going, lol! I can say that this project will be something to remember for a while. I’m blessed to say we're just getting started, so get ready!! We’re here to stay, baby!! Instagram Facebook

Los Angeles native YungRep cements his musicianship with his ability to create vivid imagery through wordplay. He attributes his musical inspiration to Biggie Smalls, Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Anita Baker, and The Isley Brothers. Holding the belief that for us to change our world, we must start with ourselves, which keeps him striving for change for our generation and future generations. With this release of his self-reflective album, "To The Moon," YungRep takes the chance to encompass himself as an artist and creatively. Embracing themes of love, change, and positivity centred around organic self-expression, this collection of songs is a bold step forward for an emerging artist. As we take our attention to the lead single, "Fuxced Up," we immediately notice the old-school glimmers of nostalgia that sizzle through the soundwaves. YungRep's lyrical performance is laidback and the embodiment of effortless talent. As he professes witty lyrics one after another, you sway to the groove of his rhythmic cadences and latch onto each word he magnetically conveys. This PudgeBeats collaboration is a match made in heaven as we're fixated on the lulling instrumentation rich in slick drum patterns and familiar samples, further boosting the hazy atmosphere reflected. YungRep finesses the beat by laying down enticing wording that has you immersed in the bars he's rapping, yet at the same time, they're performed with such confidence and grace that you don't even question this is his calling. Sending our mind to all the right places, "Fuxced Up" is an easy addition to your favorite playlist as YungRep ups the ante and gives listeners a new flavor to simmer in their headphones. Welcome to BuzzMusic, YungRep! We loved taking in the laid-back ambiance of "Fuxced Up." What moment or story inspired the creation of this track? "Fuxced Up" is a song inspired by many moments; in all honesty, but one particular moment is a night I performed at an event where the reception to my music and performance was overly optimistic, and I had a moment of realization. I realized that hard work and genuine love for something fully pay off when you are consistent and persistent. Just give it to the people, and the rest will occur. You have this undeniable confidence you perform with, enhancing your music's relaxed energy. What moods do you tend to strive for when creating music? What helps you get in this headspace for creation? I'm always striving to be in a relaxed space. Mary J and a smooth beat, and iim good, lol, but I write when im in a suitable mind space. I wrote "Fuxced Up" while sitting in my car during my overnight shift. The beat is the only thing I need in reality. The beat takes me away, and the writing begins. When writing, I never have subject matters in mind, and I let the beat dictate everything. If "Fuxced Up" is the lead single on this body of work, we can only imagine the vibes you bring throughout the rest of the project. So what do the rest of the song's on "To The Moon" have to say about its concept? It's To The Moon….It's the takeoff, going from one place to the next. Life is about growth; we work hard every day to elevate and take this Rap and Blues to another level. This tape is a weed session where we experience a little bit of everything my vices, rights, wrongs, Good Times, Bad Days, Love, Lust Smiles. Overall it's Peace, Love, and Wavy Vibes across this project. If your audience can take one message away from "Fuxced Up," what would you want it to be? It's a wavy good time and just a moment. Listen closely, and you’ll get a glimpse into who I be. Listen to the body of work, and you’ll see how this is just a piece of a whole puzzle that you’ll enjoy. What's next for you? To continue giving people these Rap and Blues. Painted pictures through visuals for the people so I could give the people all of me. Instagram
