- Van Go Go Examines The Journey To True Love In “Get Up To You”
Coming in hot from Detroit is the versatile four-piece band Van Go Go, sending listeners into a blast from the past with their latest retro-sounding single, "Get Up To You." Van Go Go is Nathan Mackinder (vocals), Jason Schaller (guitar), Paxton Olney (bass), and Jonah Brockman (drums). Together, they've created a unique sound of their own by using influences from the past, blended with new ideas and sentiments from the modern day. In their latest single, "Get Up To You," Van Go Go throws listeners back into the era of legendary John Hughes films like Simple Minds, OMD, and The Psychedelic Furs. Produced by Chuck Alkazian at the legendary Pearl Sound Studios, the new song "is about the journey to achieve the love you deserve," says lead vocalist Mackinder. Hitting play on the hot new single, "Get Up To You," we're greeted with a vast sonic landscape that quickly transitions into a beaming synthpop vibe with a warm 80s rock edge. Nathan Mackinder's crooning vocals bring us back in time while his lyrical content confesses the mountains climbed, valleys trudged, and endless journey to "Get Up To You." All while he passionately serenades this special someone, Van Go Go pumps up the energy with Schaller's riveting guitar riffs, Olney's thumping bass licks, and Brockman's high-energy drums. There's never a dull moment in this track, from the exciting instrumentals and production to Mackinder's expressive vocals and relatable words. Need a little motivation and aren't sure where to look? We invite you to lose yourself in the passionate and energetic depths of Van Go Go's new single, "Get Up To You," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Van Go Go. We love the nostalgia and excitement packed in your heartfelt new single, "Get Up To You." What inspired your group to create this retro-sounding ballad? “Get Up” is about the journey to achieve the love you deserve. I really wanted to create a track that you could drop into a John Hughes film from the 80s. His characters typically had a sort of struggle that they overcame throughout their story to get to a hopeful and better place. That’s the same emotion I wanted to capture in this song. Adapting retro sounds with keys and the Linn drums really brings this one to a “coming of age” feeling for me personally. I actually started this one with more vague and symbolic lyrics with an American type of sound. But then I had the idea of the 3 note lead over the chord progression that gives a sort of aching or longing feeling like Mike Campbell’s “Boys of Summer.” I changed the lyrics to a more straightforward love song, and it was almost like the song wrote itself. It feels and sounds like a song you would reflect on while driving on a road trip or taking a morning run. The mood matches the meaning really well. Do you usually create songs reminiscent of past musical eras, similar to "Get Up To You?" Does your band have a relationship with music from the 80s? VGG is certainly a bit of a retro-sounding band. Rather than fight if we are embracing it and exploring it even deeper. I don’t really want to pigeonhole us to the 80s, but that’s a bit of the decade we are exploring currently. We all really started in bands around the grunge era and, throughout time, have explored several different styles and genres. When we were younger, we didn’t really have much control over how precisely we were going to sound. We kind of threw things together in the basement on the gear we could afford then that was your sound. But now, having experience and more maturity, part of the creative process is discussing what you want a piece to sound like and actually achieving it. I also don’t feel like there is one particular genre of rock dominating the scene at this moment in time. I see a lot of artists going retro with their sounds, and that in itself could be the new genre. What was your band's process like when in the studio creating "Get Up To You"? How did you bring the song to life? We have a formula going on right now, and it’s working pretty well. I’ll typically throw up the base to a song on an acoustic guitar with a melody at Jonah’s studio. We then start to build the track piece by piece in preproduction and then take those tracks to the studio with Chuck. Some things we keep from the demos, and some get replaced in the final mixes. It really is allowing us to explore new things sonically and gives everyone time to develop their parts and give strong performances on the recordings. We don’t all life close to each other, so this really works without interrupting our personal lives too much. How did you want to make your audience feel when listening to "Get Up To You?" What sort of experience did you want to offer listeners? I hope this track comes across as a cool retro sound with a modern sentiment. If it takes an older listener to a simpler time in their life or brings a younger listener a new sound they haven’t related to before, I think we will have achieved what we set out to do. What’s next? VGG has several tracks recorded and unreleased. We have a ton of songs in the demo stage and hope to be able to complete a full album early next year. We have also started to play out live a bit this year and are celebrating the release of this single at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia on September 9th. We will be recording a video for the song at the festival and can’t wait to get in front of a crowd that size to perform. Instagram Facebook

Find the latest single on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, The Jebb Mac Band. We love the upbeat nature and fun-loving vibe of your new single, "Love Stoned." What was the inspiration behind this passionate and exciting tune? This is actually the first song that we (as a band) have cut that I didn’t have a hand in writing. This song was given to me by a friend that works at a publisher in Nashville. When I heard it, I automatically knew that it was one that would work for us because of the groove and melody, then the horn lines. I knew this would fit exactly what we do, which is what we like to call “country funk." Could you introduce us to your band members and what your creative process looked like for "Love Stoned?" How did you lay the foundation and work your way up? Sure, the band members are Nelson James (drums), Jeff Springs (lead guitar), Barry Carmichael (bass), Emery Henderson (trombone), James “Bull” Canty (trumpet), and Mike Free (keys). So after I heard the song, I sat down with my producer with a bunch of other songs That I had written, and we went through which ones we should cut. We ended up cutting five in that session. Our producer, Grammy-nominated Kent Wells, brought in a few session players for this record, and we recorded drums, keys, guitar, and bass at the legendary Nashville studio Dark Horse. Then when I went back home to SC, I had my horn guys come in and lay down the horn lines for the song at Kaplow Studios in Columbia, SC. What did you want to make listeners feel when hearing "Love Stoned?" What do you hope they experience with this new single? I wanted to take listeners to a place that they’d been to before. To remember how much fun falling in love was. To know that they aren’t the only ones who’s ever been “Love Stoned” and they aren’t the only ones who have ever been high on love. What was the best part about creating "Love Stoned?" What did your band enjoy most about creating this exciting track? The best part for me was laying down the vocals. Working out the harmony arrangements with the band and getting in the vocal booth to put my own spin on this song. What's next for you? MB continues to play shows all over the southeast and grow our brand. Our live shows are what makes the band tick, the energy, the vibe, and the variety of musicianship, we have a good group, and we love it. We are also working on putting together our first full-length album (the first two were EPs). Our projected date of release for that album is March or April of 2023. Instagram Facebook
- Prin$e William Says They're ‘’Watching Me’’
Do you think music should impact you? Prin$e William uses lyrical skill and heavy beats, samples, and chilling voices to create a musical illusion. Prin$e William was born and raised in Southwest Houston, Texas. Since 2011, he has been developing and recording music, releasing a number of tracks that exhibit his versatility by varying in style. Prin$e William is a rapper who combines funk and experimental music with lyrical styles from the past. His craft has been dramatically impacted and inspired by musicians like Mac Miller, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and A$AP Rocky. ‘’Watching Me’’ is the third single in Prin$e William’s album Glitch. All the songs begin with white noise and transition into a prodigious rap, a very interesting selection that leaves the listener stunned. Most of the songs have a mysterious vibe that sets the tone for the meaningful lyrics. The song opens with static, some eerie lines, and a spine-tingling scream and sample line. You then get hit with a wave of rap. The song then transitions to a beat with lots of bass and powerful words that make you want to dance and jump. This is one of those powerful songs that crowds love at concerts. Allow Prin$e William's rap to engulf you and induce dancing. Always have a strong emotional impact when listening to music, and this song succeeds in doing just that. What is the main source of inspiration for your music? Remember where I started 10 years ago, and never forget the moment I fell in love with creating. Can you describe the creative process behind "Glitch"? Growing up, I listened to three 6 mafia and other Memphis artists. I used to envision myself making that same style of music, so it was a matter of using my type of flow over phonk beats and seeing what happens. What message do you want to transmit to your listeners with the white noise in your songs? That this project is something different and not as popular making it a glitch in the world of hip-hop, also, I thought it sounded dope. How would you describe yourself compared to how others view you? Ambitious, self-sufficient, self-driven, self-motivated. Someone who loves the craft and is only concerned with being the best version of myself. What's next for you? More music, more visuals, and growing as an artist. Instagram
- Sip From Madi K’s 'Homemade Remedy,' In Her Recent EP
Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, singer-songwriter and pop princess/recording artist Madi K serves up a Homemade Remedy in her new 5-track EP. The 22-year-old singer-songwriter was a natural-born vocalist, diving into pop/contemporary and musical theater at the mere age of 9. Influences like Katy Perry, Beyoncé, and Ariana Grande have landed Madi K on The Voice Australia for two back-to-back seasons, returning as an ALLSTAR in 2019 under the mentorship of Boy George. Back and better than ever, the Melbourne-based pop princess is taking listeners on a wild and dynamic ride with the release of her newest EP, Homemade Remedy. The new project opens with the introductory track, "Let You Go," pouring through the speakers with pulsating pop synths, driving drums, and Madi K's bright vocal melodies. She uses her pent-up emotions and angst to bring listeners straight into her relationship experiences while wishing someone well as she finally let's go. It's an exhilarating electro-pop song with a stellar bass-heavy beat drop that's sure to get you moving and grooving. Moving into track number two, "I Don't Miss You," Madi K brings us into a more personal and intimate situation alongside lush acoustic guitar melodies and soft pop drums. Listening to Madi K's cathartic lyrics, she expands on pulling herself out from the mud and leaving someone in the past, but she can't help but linger into those precious past memories. It's a deeply confessional and chilling song that brings listeners through relatable and familiar situations we all face from time to time. Reaching the EP's steamy third track and halfway point, "Hush," Madi K throws us into a sensual pop atmosphere with plucky synths, spacey drums, and her vibrant, breathy vocals. As she touches on wanting to take someone's breath away and take them home, the song's toe-tapping beat drops with strut-worthy synths and heavy drums that feel like a sonic fashion show. This song was the sexual and punchy halfway pick-me-up we needed. Getting back to "Reality" on track number four, the song blesses our speakers with a rich and groovy pop beat that's soaked in hip-hop drums and rumbling snares. Madi K delivers impressive similarities to the sound, style, and attitude of Ariana Grande, especially as she belts her vibrant vocals that discuss how she's gonna do what she wants to do, no matter what the haters say. It's quite the sweet-sounding song that perfectly showcases Madi K's impressive talent and performance abilities. Landing on the EP's fifth and outro track, "Past Life," Madi K takes us through the most emotional song on the project. She discusses memories, the end of certain connections, and going separate ways with someone special. It's an incredibly cathartic song that sees Madi K unleashing her deepest thoughts while traveling through the memories she made in a "Past Life." This was quite a way to close the project, helping listeners get to know Madi K and the relatable struggles she gracefully shares with all of us. It doesn't get much better than the infectious sound, profound passion, and lyrical mastery of Madi K's new EP. Find the 5-track project, Homemade Remedy, on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Madi K. We're so impressed with the dynamic range of emotions and vibes you've poured into your new EP, Homemade Remedy. What inspired you to create this project? Thank you so much! It has been one of my goals for a long time to put out a body of work that demonstrates the full range of what I am capable of as both a songwriter and a vocalist. After experiencing the devastating break up of my long-term relationship, the subsequent heartbreak I felt became my muse and something I worked through by writing these songs. I felt powerless and hopeless, and I wanted to turn that around and regain my power. Each track on this EP draws inspiration from some of my favorite artists, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, and Beyonce, just to name a few. Ultimately, I was driven by my passion for storytelling, and I felt that this was the perfect way to simultaneously process my feelings, heal my heart, explore my artistry further, and tell my story. How long did it take to create the new EP, Homemade Remedy? When did you start thinking of ideas for this project? In total, the process of creating this EP took approximately a year and a half. This EP actually began as my final university project that was not meant to be released. However, after I finished my degree and went through my heartbreak, I found new inspiration, and I spent the remainder of the endless Melbourne lockdowns making demos in my bedroom. When I finally got out of lockdown, I took the opportunity to turn the demo’s into finalized tracks, all of which became this EP. Which song from Homemade Remedy are you most proud of and why? Why is that song so special to you? Although I am immensely proud of all 5 songs, and it’s like picking a favorite child, the song I am most proud of from Homemade Remedy is the final track, ‘Past Life.' ‘Past Life’ is a melancholy ballad that discusses the feeling of reminiscing on a memory that is so distant and disconnected from who you are now that it feels like it’s from another lifetime. Every lyric in this song is real, raw, and honest. It’s the most honest and vulnerable song I’ve ever written. It was the final track written for this EP and the perfect way to end it. It captures my heart, and everyone who has ever listened to it can feel my heart in it. It usually brings people to tears. I’m so proud of how people connect with it, and I think that’s what makes it so special to me. Did you work with any songwriters, producers, or engineers to help create the EP, Homemade Remedy? Who helped you make this dynamic project? I had the honor of working with 4 insanely talented creatives throughout the process of creating this EP. My two wonderful producers, Dominik Dale and Liam Quinn, my co-songwriter Sammi Constantine, and my wizard instrumentalist Travis Loughhead. Liam Quinn is the producer and engineer of both ‘Let You Go' and ‘I Don’t Miss You, and the incredible Sammi Constantine assisted in co-writing these tracks! As for fan favorite ‘Hush’, this was produced, engineered, and co-written by Dominik Dale over Zoom, which is mind-blowing! Also created over Zoom, ‘Past Life’ has angelic keys composed by Travis Loughhead and produced by Dominik Dale. Finally, ‘Reality’ was produced almost entirely by me. However, I had some help from Dom to polish it up! A small but mighty team that I love dearly! Was there a certain message, theme, or concept that you wanted listeners to pick up on and take away from Homemade Remedy? The overall theme that this EP embodies is the stages of grief and heartbreak. It has something for each stage and each part of the healing process. I want listeners to hear their own thoughts, feelings, and emotions in these songs. I also want them to hear me and hear what I have to say. I want people to listen to this EP from start to finish and, by the end, know exactly who MADI K is (for now). Instagram Facebook
- Connor Bracken Found the “Root” of His Blues
"Root," by Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band, is a fast, sexy, and catchy song. This banger is coming in hot and promises to be a great hit from this singer and his band. Released in July 2022, Root is their newest single after quite a while. While remaining true to their bluesy rock roots, they have established themselves as a permanent fixture in today's rock scene. Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band is based in Asbury Park, New Jersey, the same town as Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, and the Asbury Jukes. The band consists of Connor Bracken (lead vocals, guitar), Rich Seyffart (drums, vocals), Chris Dubrow (bass, vocals), and newest member Dee DiMeola (guitar, vocals). Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band began touring the Northeast United States with two shows at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square, New York. They have received positive feedback for their high-energy live performances, and this energetic vibe is seen in their newest single, "Root." With ambitious plans for 2023, Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band are excited to continue touring the United States in 2022. There is palpable excitement for this new single. "Root" is an upbeat song with solid drums and intriguing vocals. You may have a hard time trying not to sway from side to side from the high-tempo and energetic nature of this song. You can feel the heart and soul in this song, and Connor Bracken's vocals are simply stunning. Let your body do the talking when you play "Root" on repeat. You will be moving from side to side, letting loose, and enjoying a good banger and some killer dance moves. Welcome to BuzzMusic Connor Bracken and the Mother Leeds Band. Who or what is the "Root" of your Blues? Well, I typically like to leave songs open to whatever the listener feels so that I could say that, but this song is really from the perspective of a complete asshole that blames his problems on others, so the Root is yourself. I wrote it about someone I know. I don't think they would be too happy to know it's them. Can you describe the creative process behind creating "Root?" What was your most significant victory? This was the first song I wrote after finally releasing our last album, "Nightbird Motel"; it felt like a new chapter for the band and me. It just felt fresh and different but still us. I was happy about that. I was worried about what would come next; luckily, it was "Root." After that, a whole new slew of songs started to arrive, and my band taught me how to make demos. Beforehand I would always work pieces out at rehearsal, but now I've become a mad scientist in my home studio. It's all band's fault. What message would you like people to take away from "Root?" Well, I hope they're just dancing to it, but I also hope they can see themselves or someone they know in it and have a laugh and maybe not let themselves dwell on their bullshit. What would you say to a person that has someone as the root of their blues? Get over it, you silly bastard! What's next for you? A ton of super secret fun stuff, but I guess I can spill that "Root" isn't the only new song we have finished, and maybe possibly some show announcements soon. I can say that our live album will be out in September, and I cannot wait for you to hear that! Thanks for having me, BuzzMusic! Instagram Artist Website
- Ruby Rae Sings A Song Of Redemption In “Desperate Things”
Independent singer-songwriter and genre-defying recording artist Ruby Rae finds beauty in "Desperate Things" with her latest single off her forthcoming album, True Crime. Ruby Rae is a frequent collaborator, working alongside a handful of talented artists while remaining true to her vibrant yet dark, catchy and psychological, cinematic and complex sound. With influences like Wanda Jackson, Mazzy Star, and Lori McKenna, Ruby Rae draws from diverse sources like folklore, mythology, horror films, and autobiography. Perhaps the most autobiographical listening experience she's released thus far is her latest single, "Desperate Things." Ruby Rae explains, "Sometimes the best things come out of the rubble of desperate things, and at the end of it all...there is redemption in understanding that whatever happened along the way brought you right where you need to be." The new single is off of Ruby Rae's upcoming album, True Crime, which will be released later this year. The single, "Desperate Things," warmly opens with a lush country-folk instrumental with a dash of dark alternative and rockabilly swagger. Ruby Rae's chilling and distinct vocals melt through our speakers with incredibly emotional lyrics about facing heartbreak dead in the face and finding outlets to cope with the pain. The subtle country twang paired with the bouncy bass licks and steady percussion bring a state of balance to the listener's ears, and Ruby Rae tips the scales in her favor with the sweetest melodies and her introspective lyrics. Ruby Rae's display of such personal and vulnerable emotions is effortless; she has no problem inviting the listener to experience her relatable trials and tribulations. When you're not sure where to turn, keep your head held high with help from Ruby Rae's sweet new single, "Desperate Things," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Ruby Rae. You've truly moved us with your compelling lyrics and soothing tones in your new single, "Desperate Things." What experiences inspired this deeply emotional single? Thank you, I'm so glad to hear that! Desperate Things was influenced by a tough breakup in a hotel in the middle of nowhere. I was coming to terms with things falling apart and wondering about the other guests in the hotel - were they lusting after money, love, or adventure? Were they breaking up and starting over like me? What do they want, and what do I really want? Did you face any challenges when writing "Desperate Things?" Or was it easy to be so vulnerable when writing your lyrics? It was incredibly challenging to write something so honest, I've always relied heavily on style or story for songwriting. I was feeling pretty raw at the time and never thought anyone would hear it (oops). In some ways, this is a song about putting yourself out there in the world and then failing. It's about getting up and starting over again and again. What sort of sound or vibe did you want to give "Desperate Things?" How did you want the song to make listeners feel? I wanted the listener to feel pulled in and to share a secret. The lyrical repetition and unfinished structure are meant to reflect the highway seams + lines repeating and to leave them wanting more. What role does "Desperate Things" play in your upcoming album, True Crime? How does the song relate to the album's theme or concept? True Crime is an album about telling the truth - this is what happened and how it feels. It's about speaking truth to power. Desperate Things and Tied To The Track (another single from the album) were written around the same time and were the first two songs I wrote for this new project. They feel so important to this album. They hold up the building and happen to be two of my favorites. What's next for you? I'm so excited to release this record and have people finally hear it! I'll be hosting a True Crime Listening Party via Instagram Live on Oct 1st, a release party in Nashville on Oct 25th at The Bowery Vault with my talented pal Jessi Robertson, and a video release coming soon. More tour dates next year too! Instagram Facebook
- Anna Thoresen Discusses Personal Struggles In, “Party Girl’s Lament”
From New Jersey to New York, singer-songwriter and producer Anna Thoresen expresses her innermost battles in her vulnerable sophomore single, "Party Girl's Lament." Anna Thoresen was deeply immersed in music from a young age, performing in musical theater and joining choirs. It wasn't until the pandemic struck that Thoresen released her debut single, "I Think This Is Love?." The new pop/r&b prospect is best known for creating glorious melting pots of sounds that fuse bedroom pop, alternative r&b, and singer-songwriter sensibilities. This can be heard through her latest single, "Party Girl's Lament," the lead single from Anna Thoresen's forthcoming debut EP set to release later this year. The new song sees Thoresen at her most vulnerable, recounting experiences with addiction to drugs and alcohol. Anna Thoresen explains that this song aims to break the stigma around addiction, "especially with underage high school and college kids...nobody talks about it." Diving into the new single, "Party Girl's Lament," the song peacefully opens with an ethereal electric guitar picking its way to our hearts. As her stunning and gentle vocals begin pouring through our speakers, Anna Thoresen carefully expands on those odd party moments where we feel lost, out of place, and in need of an outlet to cope with our stressors. It's an incredibly lush and tender listening experience, and Anna Thoresen paints such delicate and compelling scenes effortlessly. Her soothing instrumentals back her up while Thoresen expresses a desire to go home, turn off her phone, and be alone. She has no problem moving the listener with her words, and this song is genuinely no exception. Start your journey to healing and acceptance with help from Anna Thoresen's vulnerable sophomore single, "Party Girl's Lament," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Anna Thoresen. You've truly moved us with your vulnerable and relatable words in your new single, "Party Girl's Lament." What moments or experiences inspired you to write this personal song? Hi! Thank you so much. I’ve struggled with addiction and anxiety since I was 16, so writing about those topics came pretty easily to me. I just recently became clean, and I’ve never felt happier and healthier! I wanted to bring awareness to the stigma surrounding drug and alcohol abuse in teens/young adults because I feel like it is something that is so relevant, yet we never talk about it as a society. What sound and vibe did you want to give the instrumentals in "Party Girl's Lament?" Did you create the instrumentals and production entirely solo? I really liked the stripped-back simple vibe of the guitar, and I didn’t want to overcomplicate it production-wise, so I decided to just keep the guitar and the vocals. I feel like that helps let the message sink in more, and it makes it a very personal experience for the listener. I actually didn’t come up with the guitar on this, my friend Matt did, and I wrote all of the lyrics and melodies. What was the most rewarding part about creating such a cathartic track like "Party Girl's Lament?" What did you take away from the experience? I think the most rewarding part about making a song like this is the healing that comes afterward. It has really helped me in my own journey to write about how I’m feeling when I’m sad or vulnerable, and I always feel like there’s a weight lifted off me after I do it. Something I took from this experience is that being vulnerable is okay, and the more I do it, the easier I’m able to express myself in my music and in life. How does "Party Girl's Lament" prepare listeners for what's to come on your forthcoming debut EP? What should we anticipate from that project? This song prepares you for the EP because there will definitely be more songs about addiction and mental health and other more serious topics. Releasing “party girl’s lament” was me dipping my toes in the water by releasing sad music and seeing the response. You can anticipate more songs with similar sonic vibes to my last two singles, and I plan on releasing it at the end of this year! What's next for you? I want to start performing my songs live, so I’d love to play some shows in the near future. Besides that, I don’t have anything planned as of right now. I honestly like not having a solid plan as of right now and just seeing where the universe takes me, so my “plan” is to just keep making music! Instagram Twitter
- Feel Like A “Clock With No Hands,” With Vinyl Floor
"Clock With No Hands," by Danish band Vinyl Floor, is a vintage-sounding song that can transport you to different times and sway your mind away from today’s worries. Vinyl Floor is an alternative rock group that was founded in 2007. The Danish band's fifth full-length album, "Funhouse Mirror," finds them returning to the experimental and symphonic expression they first found on the albums "Peninsula" (2012) and "Vaudeville" (2014). The 10 songs on this album were all written by Thomas Charlie Pedersen and Daniel Pedersen, and both brothers take turns singing the lead on each song. The tracks were captured live by the band and Swedish producer Emil Isaksson at Studio Möllan in Malmö, Sweden, during the summer of 2021. Vinyl Floor has chosen to go for a warm, nostalgic tone in both Funhouse Mirror and their most recent hit, "Clock With No Hands." It has a distinct and subtle modern song production with a focus on melody and lyrics. All voice-overdubs and mixing were done at the band's home studio in Copenhagen, Denmark. The album was mixed at Studio Möllan in the last quarter of 2021, and Ted Jensen handled the mastering at Sterling Sound in Nashville, Tennessee, in the first quarter of 2022. Slow-tempo song "Clock With No Hands" explores various issues and facets of the current status of the globe. The harmony of the guitar, drums, and vocals creates a really calming yet ominous song you will enjoy and want to repeat. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Vinyl Floor. Can you tell our readers a bit about your journey as a band? Thomas Charlie Pedersen: Our band only has two permanent members. My younger brother Daniel & I. We have played music together all our lives but didn´t really play in bands together until around the year 2000. The band was actually formed in 2001. We called ourselves ‘Guernica’ and had a core of four members. In 2007 we did a new version of the band and decided the name should be ‘Vinyl Floor’. All the music we released ever since has been with Vinyl Floor. I also do some solo material outside the band, but my main love is and will always be Vinyl Floor. We´ve had our ups and down like everybody else. Changing members, etc. But we still like doing it, and there are still new songs coming to us. During the making of our new album, ‘Funhouse Mirror,’ our third member, Rasmus, decided that he needed some time away from the band. He had different reasons for this, and he was about to become a father for the first time. We understood and fully supported it. He has been with us since the beginning, so he´ll always hold a special place, and he might do something with us again, just not as a permanent member anymore. What inspired the lyrics to "Clock with No Hands," and how does that relate to society? Well, it actually started out as a love letter to my wife. One day I sat at the piano and quickly came up with something I felt was a super cool chord progression that sounded like something someone like Elliott Smith once might have done. My wife is older than me, so I thought I would try to explore the concept of time. And I wanted to try and write a happy song about being grateful. I don´t write a lot of happy songs and find it difficult to write one the right way. At some point during the writing process, I sort of just came to the conclusion that time is irrelevant to us and doesn´t affect the relationship. So I thought, why not inject some subtle nods to modern society instead? I did that quite a lot with the lyrics on the entire album. That´s probably partly because of the lockdown situation we found ourselves in while working on the album but also because I sometimes have the feeling that I´m not really a part of the world, you know? I often find it very strange and peculiar but, at the same time, not necessarily able to point my finger at what exactly I´d like to change or don´t like about it. All I know is that I don´t like the hourglass running faster & faster, but when I´m with my wife, it feels like time’s standing still. She´s the clock with no hands. What message would you want to convey to society in your most recent album and the project you're working on? What does "Clock with No Hands" mean to you? My lyrics never judge anything or anybody. As a songwriter, I always feel like an observer, and that´s it. But I clearly felt like I didn´t really belong too much as I was writing the lyrics for ‘Funhouse Mirror’, and I think, if there´s a concept to be found in this album, then it´s a kind of warning about communication because everything moves so fast nowadays. It´s easy to set foot on not very solid ground. People quickly judge each other. Especially on social media. The title ‘Funhouse Mirror’ basically says: Be careful what you do, be careful what you say, and to whom. You can easily end up presenting a distorted version of yourself. The song ‘Pretty Predictable’ explores people's need to destroy things they invented. The title track is about a circus coming to town and quickly starting to change people's behavior and way of thinking. The interpretation is all yours. ‘Clock with No Hands’ holds more personal meaning, obviously. But I think it fits the mood of the record well, even though I think the second half of the record is generally a bit darker. Can you describe the creative process that took place to create "Clock with No Hands?" As I said previously, I don´t have too many happy songs in my backlog, so I kind of wanted to challenge myself a little bit. The song had been lying around for a few years ‘cause I was unsure what to do with it, unsure about the direction. But when we got Bebe Risenfors on board to do the horn parts for a new album, it all fell into place. He was the missing link. He was the one who could underscore the feeling of gratitude in the song. Together with my lyrics, I hope. What's next for you? We have a release show coming up this month. It will take place on a boat in Copenhagen on release day. Then we think about doing some acoustic shows. I hope we´ll do some. And then there´s new material. We still have songs waiting to get worked on. Facebook Twitter
- “I Think You Love Me” From Tyler Shamy Teleports You To A Moment Of Everything And Nothingness
"I Think You Love Me" is a high-energy song that takes you around the universe with a single breath. One foot in, one foot out, the title says it all. You know the dance, the push-pull, the gap between… a relationship of passion, unknown, surrender, and desire. Tyler Shamy feels this song teleporting his listeners to a moment of everything and nothingness, what you want but never allow yourself to need. Tyler Shamy is a multi-talented artist who excels in songwriting and voice acting. He has written songs for many significant artists and television shows, and his work has been featured on many popular streaming platforms. He is also a very accomplished voice actor, with credits on many major networks and shows. This song immediately dropped onto two of my new playlists. "I Think You Love Me" is an expose of emotional intelligence gifted to listeners. 184 seconds of a classic in the making, add this pop masterpiece to your playlist today. Tyler, welcome to BuzzMusic, and congratulations on your latest single, "I Think You Love Me." We are blown away by your work and excited to see what’s next for you. How do you feel being a voice-over artist has affected your music? Thank you! Having a background in acting and voice-over definitely influences my songwriting in terms of using my imagination, thinking from different perspectives, and capturing various emotional states. There have been a handful of fans who discovered me through my voice-over work and became introduced to my music that way, which is pretty cool. It is apparent that you have a passion for music and voice-over work. If you could only pick one, do you think you would be the same artist you are today? I'm somebody who needs a lot of variety to feel creatively satisfied, and I find that when I'm too focused on one or the other, I experience burnout. Granted, it's kind of like having 2 full-time careers, so it can be a lot to juggle, but I love both so I can't imagine giving one up. I'd have more time to make even more music and promote it if I didn't have a voiceover career, but I'd definitely feel a void if I didn't have both since they're fulfilling in completely different ways for me! Listening to your music, your passion radiates through. Where do you draw this inspiration from? Do you have any practices that help you ground and connect with yourself? I appreciate that! Most of my inspiration comes from real-life experiences. I've always been a very sensitive & emotional person who operates more from feelings than logic, haha, so there's always a lot to unpack. Songwriting is cathartic for me. I don't know how I'd survive without that emotional outlet, to be honest. What message do you want people to take away from your new single, "I Think You Love Me?" "I Think You Love Me" was inspired by a situational experience that I felt compelled to write about, so it's more so a story and feeling I wanted to express than a message. It captures a chapter in my life that I'm sure some people can relate to. My goal is always to make people feel something with my music and hopefully feel less alone in their human experience. <3 Instagram Facebook
- Odd City Returns With An Epic New Sound On Their Latest Single, “Slink”
Odd City's latest release, "Slink," was produced by a super producer/engineer Chuck Alkazian (Pop Evil, Soundgarden, Tantric) at the legendary Pearl Studio in Canton, MI. Odd City consists of Mike Szumlinski (vocals, lead guitar), Mike Kap (bass, vocals), Pavel Guysinsky (rhythm guitar), and Brett Redwood (drums). The rock band is a very musically diverse band on many levels, which can be heard throughout their new album. Szumlinski says, "We have a lot of variety in the music we link and what we write, now we'd like to let people hear the book-ends in the range style of approach." "Slink" might be considered to be a more mellow track on the album, yet it still holds the same emotion and energy as the rest of their songs. Redwood says, "The definition of "Slink" is moving quietly away, smoothly, which plays into the lyrics about getting away from someone that seems fun but had bad intentions or dire means. There is a specific night out that this song references." The record opens with ambient yet driving guitar strings to set the mood for the track, leaving a beautiful space for vocalist Mike to enter into the record. The epic sounds from the band have us jamming and vibing out hard; from the effortless production to the ethereal vocals, "Slink" is highly note-worthy, making for such an incredible listening experience. Lines like, "Hey, cruel mistress, keep your distance, you wave your hand and hide your knife," help depict the story visually and help the listener feel the lyrics by being poetic with their storytelling. In addition, the guitar solo shows appreciation for the art of music and respect for sound in general. With a single like "Slink," there's no doubt their project is just as breathtaking. Make sure to support Odd City and stream their new exciting and alternative smash titled "Slink," available on all streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic Odd City. We truly appreciate such a relatable anthem like "Slink." What inspired you to write this song? Brett: I was out with an old friend of mine, and we met a nefarious person who duped us, which ended up starting the beginning of a rough night out. I laugh about it now, and there are some inside jokes in the lyrics, but basically, a beautiful lady duped us. What was the most rewarding part about creating "Slink?" What did you appreciate most from the experience? Mike: This song really came together in bits and pieces. It started as a simple rhythmic ideal, not much more than a single guitar and drums doing something a bit more “airy.” We jammed around with it a bit, and all liked playing the song, but there wasn’t a driving force to it until two things happened for me. First were the lyrics. They tell a real story about unmet expectations and misrepresentation in the land of relationships. The second (at least for me) was the melody line on the guitar. When we finally had those two pieces in place, the song sort of came alive. While all of our songs are co-written, this really feels like the song on Fission is a true “group effort.” Every part on its own was fun but not wholly interesting. But all the ingredients in the bowl ended up with a very heartfelt song that you can draw your own meaning. The result was better than the parts. Pavel: Well, it started out as a riff with a drum beat. Once Mike added his melody and Brett's lyrics finally connected all of the elements together to create a song that we love. The lyrics tell a story, and we brought all parts together in sync, and just like Mike said, all the parts become a greater whole. Our band can be in your face with some of our melodies, and this one just slows our universe down to bring over the wide range of sound we can achieve. Brett: I enjoyed slamming out the lyrics sort of last minute. I mean, I had more than half done before we were in the studio, but kap and I had a great writing session before we got to vocals, and it all worked out well. What does "Slink" mean to you? What do you want people to take away from this message? Brett: Wave the hand and hide the knife is a line in the chorus that stands out for me. I would say always be in control of the situations around you as best as you can to avoid getting in a bad situation. Pavel: Brett can answer this one since he wrote the lyrics. But to me, I love the flow of the song of how everything comes together. How does "Slink" contrast your previous releases? Mike: I think if you listen to the rest of the record, you’ll see that this is definitely the lightest/quietest song we did. It is a song that shows our range in what we enjoy doing musically. While the rest of the album hits pretty hard, this one is more soothing. Pavel: Take a thumb tack and intentionally step on it for the hell of it. That is how this song is completely different as far as feeling from everything else on this album. Brett: I think we jammed on a lot of heavy stuff that felt like it was going nowhere, and when we got to the beginnings of slink musically, it stood out more from what we usually jam on. What's next for Odd City? Mike: I really don’t see anywhere else to go but face tattoos and trap beats. Pavel: Yeah, we are all getting face tattoos and going hard at SoundCloud! Maybe throw in a rap? Ha ha ha. But we are busy writing our next record! Also, thank you again for this awesome opportunity to answer your awesome questions! Mike: I can spitfire if the opportunity presents itself. Brett: We are working on a music video. We will see where we get on. That should be fun. Facebook
