  • Dance Your Worries Away With KAYKO's New Hit, "Somedays"

Coming in hot from Washington, DC, singer-songwriter, electronic/pop recording artist, and producer KAYKO reminds us that having off-days is A-OK with his latest single, "Somedays." KAYKO's music is best described as atmospheric and emotional electronic dance music and pop. He blesses listeners with introspective, edgy, emotional music about love, heartbreak, and self-realization. He focuses on the melodic aspects of EDM while infusing a pop, rock, or pop-rock style into his many diverse tracks. In his latest tune, "Somedays," KAYKO delivers an energetic and exciting blend of progressive house and vibrant pop. He mentioned how making music under KAYKO is his mission to rediscover himself after experiencing a life-changing break-up. Songs like "Somedays" examine those emotional moments where life has us down, out, and unmotivated. Expanding on the refreshing new single, "Somedays," we're met with bright piano chords and buzzy vocal samples that drop into a lush and bouncy electronic beat. KAYKO's vocals on the first verse hit us with all the passion and emotion we could ask for. It's interesting how his lyrics discuss incredibly personal scenes of feeling unmotivated and wanting to run away, yet his sonics take us to the beach with refreshing, cheerful vibes. Whether you want to cry it out or jam it out, KAYKO has what you're looking for in this sweet new single. His warm vocals and crisp articulation make it clear that he's definitely taken part in musical theater, and his overall performance abilities would say the same. His vocals and accompanying sonics keep our attention locked until the very last gripping and cathartic kick. There's so much to experience in this dense and engaging hit. KAYKO's honest words and chilling production make it clear that he's in it for the long haul. Put your problems to rest with help from KAYKO's relatable anthem, "Somedays," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic KAYKO, and congratulations on your latest release, "Somedays." What inspired you to create this incredibly personal yet energetic tune? The idea behind my single Somedays stems from current bits and pieces of some self-healing work I’m doing. In the days leading up to my writing the track, I was in a funk. I hyper-focused on why my days seemed to blend together and why at moments, I felt okay and others, I didn’t— which you can hear described in both verses. All the tracks I’ve put out so far have been about heartbreak and love— which has been a huge muse for my writing but isn’t the entirety of what KAYKO is, so I thought I’d add some variety. Why did you want to give "Somedays" such a thrilling sonic atmosphere, even though your lyrics are so personal and emotional? I’d often hear these mainstream EDM tracks on the radio by the Chainsmokers, Zedd, Calvin Harris, and David Guetta, for instance, all touching on similar subjects such as love and heartbreak— Zedd's Clarity is a great example. I started to notice that with more atmospheric music, the availability to drive your point across widens. You give more room for echos & reverbs to play out — which has always given me the feeling as if I’m not just listening to the music, but I’m actually in that moment. With that in mind, it gave me the opportunity to do the same and give my fans time to absorb what’s going on in my head, which is you're not alone, and we all feel a lack of self-love at times. Speaking of your personal lyrics in "Somedays," how did you want your words to make listeners feel? Did you write your lyrics in hopes that others could relate? The track starts off slow and progressively gets more intense, which mimics some of the moods I was feeling when I wrote it. The song was written from a very personal angle but with the intention that everyone can relate to it. Even though the song is about self-love, you can take bits and pieces of it and apply it to pretty much any situation. What was the peak of creating "Somedays?" What was your favorite part about creating such a relatable and engaging track? Hmm… that’s a good question. I wouldn't say that I enjoy one part more than the others, but definitely hearing the end result for the first time was a big one. Like any artist, I put an immense amount of time into each line I write— so I’d also say the process of writing each song is quite enjoyable too. What's next for you? A ton of things! I’m currently working on a bunch of new dance, house & electronic tracks that’ll be dropping through the upcoming year and into the next. As for an immediate answer, I’m currently finishing up my next single, which takes a very different direction musically than what I’ve put out before. I'm teaming up with Nia Monae (PinkMoni), the winner of the WAMMIE Awards for “Beat Rap Album of 2022,” on this one. It’s still EDM, but I go a bit harder on the lyrics (ego-driven), and the beat might make you want to twerk! To be honest— I’m terrified of dropping it because of how different it is, but I guess you’ll have to wait and see. Instagram

  • Blast Off With Slendo and His Latest Album, DOLOWORLD

From Chattanooga, Tennessee, hip-hop recording artist, rapper, and producer Slendo blesses us with new beginners through his stimulating fourth studio album, 'DOLOWORLD.' The Tennessee-hailing artist has experienced his fair share of adversity, channeling those struggles and tribulations through his expressive music. In his latest album, 'DOLOWORLD,' Slendo uses the record to mark a new beginning for him and his artistry, smacking listeners with irresistible modern hip-hop that separates Slendo's music from the rest. He kicks off the new album with the energetic introductory track, "OuttaOrbit*," which pumps through our speakers with spacey synths and choppy hip-hop drums, launching the rocket that is the album. Slendo wastes no time jumping into his heated bars and equally scorching delivery, touching on staying focussed on the goal and taking off into orbit with some good weed and some good music. Slendo keeps the energy going in track number two, "4D*," spinning through our speakers with melodic, light, and spacious synths that leap into the mid-tempo first verse. Slendo's rhythmic vocal delivery compliments the stimulating beat so well, and his expressive bars about living life to the fullest are more than refreshing. We're impressed by how easy it is to listen to Slendo's music; he never fails to serve a unique sonic experience that leaves us wanting more. On track number three, "HoldDemRacks*," he gives us more. Slendo kicks the song into gear with buzzy and high-energy synth arrangements that resemble the otherwordly vibes of Lil Ui Vert or Playboy Carti. This anthemic and exhilarating song reminds us to have a good time, turn off the outside world, and make some memories. Slendo's exciting vocal delivery sets various luxurious scenes that leave us itching to hop on a jet. Jumping into the album's fourth track, "Invalid*," the airy and celestial atmosphere melts our speakers while Slendo hops on the verse alongside crisp, mid-tempo drum arrangements. While letting others know they're "Invalid*," Slendo flows through our speakers with confidence and authority, helping us kick back and focus on his attention-commanding performance. He blesses us with so much energy throughout the song, keeping us locked into the song and the whole album at large. Moving onto the fifth track, "Program*," Slendo blasts us into outer space through an array of buzzy electronic synths that smoke our speakers alongside lively drums and his playful performance. This is another melodic head-bopper that throws us onto the dancefloor while Slendo keeps the party alive with his exciting bars and stimulating sonics. The song's production is top-tier, and we're ready to keep it on blast all summer long. The same goes for the album's sixth track and halfway mark, "HighOffU*," where Slendo smacks us with gripping and bright sonics alongside tight drums to kick the song into gear. Slendo takes on a more personal and passionate lyrical theme, rapping about how he's never felt this way before and basking in the euphoric sensations of someone's presence. It's a truly refreshing track that helps us get to know Slendo that much more. For the first time on the album, Slendo pairs up with a fellow rapper for track number seven, "SummertimeVibes*." Right off the bat, Slendo has us floating on cloud nine with the feel-good, electronic atmosphere and the chilling hook. He's accompanied by Trueyy Hendrix, who throws us into the energetic and vibrant side of hip-hop while setting the tone for an unforgettable summer. Both he and Slendo deliver a brilliant and dynamic back and forth to keep the energy at a thrilling high. Keeping that otherworldly vibe going is the eighth track, "BoughtHerANecklace," which has us bopping our heads and tapping our toes instantly. Slendo teams up with rapper Louie Deuce, who tackles the first verse with authority while discussing the extravagant presents he gives to his girl. Slendo touches on a similar theme while throwing us into the buzzy and electrifying sonics that makes the experience whole and well-rounded. In track number nine, Slendo reminds us that "GirlsJustWannaHaveFun*," and he's right. This exhilarating track takes off like a rocket launch, packed with stimulating synths and heavy drums to keep the groove alive. Slendo's bars discuss relatable and exciting scenes, rapping about how some girls want to party, some girls want money, and some girls will stop at nothing to get both. It's an anthemic and exciting track that has us ready for a night in the club. Onto the album's tenth track, "Bankroll$*," Slendo opens the song on more of a vibrant pop note while slowly shifting into a bouncy and rich hip-hop beat. Slendo's bars ask us, what would we do for a bankroll? It's clear that Slendo is no stranger to the grind, especially as he raps about his past and how we came from nothing to make his dreams a reality. It's another exciting and meaningful track, reminding us that hard work always pays off. Landing on the album's final and title track, "DOLOWORLD*," Slendo arrives at the last stop of his journey onto the planet he created to escape our stressful world. His smooth and drum-heavy production allows him to shine bright in the spotlight while emphasizing that authenticity is the greatest characteristic we can obtain. And, sometimes, all it takes is making a life for yourself far away from where haters can bring you down. We're wildly impressed with the sonic world Slendo created throughout the entire album; his ferocious bars and unique sound are destined to stand the test of time. When you're ready to take off out of this world, hit play on Slendo's fourth studio album, 'DOLOWORLD,' now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Slendo. What an exhilarating experience you've delivered in your fourth studio album, DOLOWORLD. What inspired you to create this album and make your own world out of it? I really just wanted to try something new and different for me. My goal was to immerse the listener into another world with the style of beats throughout the project and just send the listener on a trip to 'DOLOWORLD.' What sort of vibe were you going for when creating the production for 'DOLOWORLD?' Did any artists or projects influence the album's sound? I wanted to make an album that really captured the sound of outer space or being on another planet. It's very new-gen inspired and something that the newer generation, people even younger than me, will gravitate to and come back to in the future as I keep releasing music. How does the 'DOLOWORLD' album contrast your previous three albums? How is this project different from the last three? It's really its own experience, sonically, it's very different from any other project just because of the style and sound. I really tried to make my own world through the music, you guys can decide if I did that or not. Do you have a favorite song from the album 'DOLOWORLD?' What makes that song stand out to you? Man that's a tough question, all of them mean a lot to me. It honestly might be HoldDemRacks* because that was the first song made with this kind of sound, on a "Rage" beat, if you want to call it that. A close second has gotta be Bankroll$, though. That song means a lot to me; I originally recorded it over a whole other beast. What do you want listeners to take away from the DOLOWORLD album? What do you want to leave them with? I just want them to have fun with it! All Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring, just enjoy it and play it when you're out with your friends in the car. Play it when you're at a party. I just want people to make memories of it. What's next for you? Going crazy all Summer, for the rest of the year, really. I'm going to drop the Deluxe before the Summer ends; just keeping those vibes coming! Trying to build the brand and just get bigger and bigger! Instagram Facebook

  • Rich Watson Keeps The Flame Burning In, "Summer Love"

There's something about summer love that just feels so perfect. It's the type of love that you can't help but smile about, even when things get tough. It's the kind of love that makes you feel like you're on top of the world. Rich Watson's "Summer Love" perfectly captures the feeling of young love. A deep methodical intro puts you in touch with your heartbeat and then carries you through a familiar euphoria you never want to end. A listener who has experienced this feeling of holding out, waiting for something better, will be inducted into a surreal trace state. As the song drops into the chorus and the singer begins to vocalize, "who knew, waiting," it's as if you're no longer just listening to a song but experiencing it. The production is spot on; the vocals are clear and have just the right amount of emotion. The lyrics are feel-good and easy to sing along to. This is the type of song that you want to listen to on a sunny day with the windows down and the wind in your hair. It's the perfect summer anthem. Check out "Summer Love," available on all platforms today. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Rich Watson. We admire the engulfing, surreal air you've brought with your recent single, "Summer Love." What inspired this breezy song? Is the song written about anyone in particular? ''Summer Love'' originally started life as a poem with the line ''Where were you winter, my summer love?" From there, I developed a lyric that I hoped would capture the feeling of retaining some kind of idyllic hope for a transformative love to come along during a dark period in your life, plus I'd always liked the idea of writing a summer song. Musically, it started life as a cross between The Isley Brothers and Kings of Convenience, as a Latin-tinged acoustic number. Still, once I got into the studio, inevitably, the epic, sweeping synths took over! "Summer Love" is a bottle of unprocessed emotions and honest and raw lyrics. What was your experience writing the song? That's a pretty accurate observation - I definitely wanted to try and evoke a kind of ''palpable ache'' in the lyric of someone ''holding out so long'' for a love that would lead them out of the darkness into a euphoric place where the ''stars would all ascend for us and light above.'' When you're really lucky, as a songwriter, some songs almost write themselves, which was definitely the case with ''Summer Love''. What was your goal with the song's overall atmosphere? I really wanted the song to center around a memorable bass line, which once I had that in place, I started to pair with an 80's R'n'B synth bassline in the verses to set an overall atmosphere inspired by The Free Nationals and Anderson.Paak. The chorus has an intentional, epic, anthemic and dramatic, widescreen feel that pays a debt to the likes of Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, and Tears For Fears, and I also added an ELO-inspired vocoder vocal to try and add more color to the sonic palette of the song Did you create "Summer Love" in hopes that listeners could find something they relate with? What did you want your audience to experience? Absolutely - I've always been a sucker for songs like ''Strawberry Letter 23'' by Shuggie Otis, where the groove and feel of the music is the 1st thing that hits you. Still, once you dig a little deeper and the lyric unfolds, you're provided with something more meaningful from the whole experience. Hopefully, ''Summer Love'' evokes the euphoric feeling and blissful state of falling in love during a long hot summer! What's next for you? My 3rd album ''Desire'' is due to come out in October '22, and ''Summer Love'' is a pretty good representation of the musical direction I intentionally navigated for this release. Over the course of 2 years, I've wanted to create a collection of songs that have an epic and cinematic feel to them, with big and bold pop melodies coupled with R'n'B-inspired beats and bass lines, 80's synths, and a touch of Nile Rodgers-inspired funk guitar. Jacob Giaimo recently took his sweet stylings from Orlando, Florida, out to Los Angeles. His loyal fans constantly return for more of his toe-tapping, guitar-driven sounds, and thoughtful lyrics. He's currently recording a new album, and we should expect more sonically delicious tunes this fall. Recorded at Opus Recording in Hollywood, Jacob Giaimo's new single, "Sun Support," is a playful, upbeat, and whimsical tune that calls on us to head outside. He mentioned that he wrote the song while visiting his parents in Orlando. "I was listening to a good amount of Bob Marley, and I was inspired to write a fun song to listen to by the pool," says Giaimo. Jumping into the feel-good summer anthem, "Sun Support," the tune opens with a bright acoustic guitar that strums its way to our hearts. Find that and more within Jacob Giaimo's feel-good summer single, "Sun Support," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome back to BuzzMusic, Jacob Giaimo. After listening to your new single, "Sun Support," you have us itching to get outside. Could you describe the moment at your parents' house when you felt inspired to create a feel-good poolside hit? Sure, of course. I remember listening to a good amount of Bob Marley during that time. Prior to that, he wasn't someone that I considered a great inspiration. Primarily because I hadn't devoted the time to really get into his music. Once I had, I was instantly inspired to write a song like "Sun Support." What was your songwriting process like for "Sun Support"? How were you able to write such picturesque summer scenes that leave listeners yearning to soak up the sun? The writing process was relatively quick. I try to write music every day, and sometimes, you'll get lucky when a song comes to you in an instant. "Sun Support" was definitely one of those times when I picked up my guitar, and the melody just came through. How do you hope listeners feel when hearing the new single, "Sun Support"? What was your goal in terms of how listeners would react to the song? I hope they feel happy. Do you usually create such upbeat, feel-good tunes like "Sun Support"? How does this song differ from the rest of your discography? I would say I don't typically write upbeat music. Not that I can't or don't like to, but for whatever reason, when I was younger and developing an affection for music, I'd tend to feel more moved by an emotional/slow song than by an upbeat song. Naturally, when I came to write music, I leaned into a style that reflected what initially drew me to music. What's next for you? I'm in the process of recording an album and hope to have it out by this fall of 2022. Stay tuned! Thanks. Instagram Facebook

  • Gorilla Apocalpyse Urges You To Take Cover In, “Tornado”

The extraordinary musical collective Gorilla Apocalypse is always looking for new ways to relate with listeners. Perhaps their latest single, "Tornado," is the group's most engaging release yet. Gorilla Apocalypse comprises a revolving door of different artists under Blue Collar Records from different genres, styles, backgrounds, and walks of life. Together, they collaborate on songs and albums in the studio to always bring something fresh to the masses. This time around, Gorilla Apocalypse's latest single, "Tornado," features singer/songwriter IZ.M.B, beat producer Grizz La Flare, and lyricist Gary Bernard. Together, they created an epic urban alternative-rock hit alongside a conceptual lyric video that helps us better understand the song's theme. The song is off Gorilla Apocalypse's upcoming debut EP, Blow Your Mind. Taking a look at the lyric video for "Tornado," our eyes are greeted with an animated storyline that sees IZ.M.B discuss her experiences with an unsteady partner. What's interesting is how Gorilla Apocalypse chose to give the artists animated characters like a cat, gorilla, and bear. Watching IZ.M.B serenade us as a cat is refreshing, but her lyrical content is the real attention-grabber. "You go from a roller coaster to a bathtub toaster, a desperado on a wanted poster," she wittily sings with a smile on her face. We love the playful spin Gorilla Apocalypse put on a song about living with an unsteady and unpredictable partner; they've made it clear that people have the ability to spin a deadly track and leave a mess behind like a "Tornado." Keep an eye open for chaos and recklessness with Gorilla Apocalypse's latest single and lyric video, "Tornado." Find the single on all digital streaming platforms and the lyric video on YouTube. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Gorilla Apocalypse. We admire the refreshing and playful attitude you've brought with your recent single, "Tornado." What inspired this breezy song about someone's unpredictable ways? GB Bernard - I’ve known a number of people like that in my lifetime. They’re tons of fun to hangout with until you witness the damage they leave in their wake. The problem is they’re fun, so you make excuses for them. At least, for a while, but maybe that’s part of the attraction: the danger, the unpredictability. For me, that’s what “Tornado” is really about. That moment when you’re still having fun, but you’re also waiting for the other shoe to drop. Grizz - I did the beat, so for me, it’s just a really fun dance track. Why did you choose to go the animated route for the lyric video for "Tornado?" What inspired this cartoon-esque approach? IZ.M.B - I want Gorilla Apocalypse to be a true collaboration that involves multiple artists bringing their unique talents to bear. Kind of like a revolving door. With the first album, we created a foundation, but going forward, we really want to up the ante collaboratively. What was the collaboration like between the three artists and producers for "Tornado"? Have the three of you worked together before? GB Bernard - No, but we’re all part of the same label, and we all really like each other. IZ.M.B - Yeah, but we’ve wanted to collaborate for a while now. So when the opportunity came up, we just went for it, and here we are. How does "Tornado" tie into the theme of your upcoming debut EP, Blow Your Mind? How does it relate to the entire EP itself? Grizz - The album itself accentuates the ups and downs of relationships. How better to accomplish that then to use a tornado as a metaphor? Also, musically, the first song on the EP and lead single, “Tornado,” draws the listener in with its infectiously groovy beat, setting the stage for what is to come. What can we anticipate hearing next? IZ.M.B - “Blow Your Mind” is kinda like the starting pistol at a track meet. It’s the shot that starts the race, but Gorilla Apocalypse isn’t a sprint. It’s a distance race. Now that we’re up and running, you can expect more to come: more vocalists, more instrumentation, more emotion, more risks, and groovier beats! Instagram Facebook

If this song is anything like her upcoming EP, we know we're in for a treat. Drift off into the otherworldly and ethereal sounds of Island Fox's latest single, "May the World Know You as I Do," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Island Fox. We're head over heels for the chilling and dynamic atmosphere you've created in your new single, "May the World Know You as I Do." What was the driving inspiration behind this sweet single? Thank you so much. Honestly, I struggled a lot in the pandemic, and I wanted to make something positive for everyone who loved me unconditionally. One quality I love about music is that as an artist, you can create a picture of yourself and what you care about most. It makes me feel much closer to other artists as I have a sense of who that person is just by listening to their music. I wanted to paint that picture of my family and loved ones who continue to practice and work on loving me this way. I wanted everyone to know how much life my family gives to me and how much I love them. Did you create the production for "May the World Know You as I Do" entirely solo? What was that process like in the studio? Actually, I did on this song and across the EP. Although, I've seen a lot more value in collaboration recently. I enjoy mix-engineering my and others' music a lot as it visually sets the stage for what someone will hear when they listen. When I work on things myself, I tend to gamify making music by setting myself fun challenges and innovating from outside of music. This EP has a lot of sounds from pilot whales, dolphins, and narwhals, as well as my first data sonification from the NHS website. I think musically and production-wise, I have just as much influence from writers and poets such as Ocean Vuong, Patanjali, Rumi, and Yung Pueblo and films such as Dune as I do from a lot of current music. As a producer, I think it's super important to innovate and take inspiration from all walks of life, as I believe this is the heart of creativity. Why did you want to keep "May the World Know You as I Do" as a pure instrumental without a featured vocalist? When I write music with lyrics, it helps a lot with storytelling from a particular angle as I'm exploring something from lots of different lenses. I have a lot of future music with lyrics, but I find it hard to be both lyrically direct and complete in complex emotions. For me, that's a real challenge working with lyrics – like how do I capture the sound of the mixed emotional experience after having had a disagreement with my brother and what I learned from it to make our lives richer moving forwards? The reason why I left this EP without words is that I wanted something iridescent like this. It's an appreciation and celebration of the multi-facets of people and an unconditional love for it all. How does "May the World Know You as I Do" blend into the theme or concept within your upcoming EP,' I Will Find You In Songs Forever?' My family really helped me return to myself as I went through a period of feeling isolated. I felt like they gave me just the right amount of space and support to explore what love is and means to me, and I really filled my cup up through daily practice. I've gained a lot of skills in my capacity and resilience as a result, and I wanted to make an EP that honors what they have done for me. I often feel I want to make my gratitude speak louder than any regret. I don't understand why it is often at funerals when you hear people say how they truly or completely felt about those that have gone. Life is too short, and I would rather people know how much they mean to me now. This EP is in part a permanence of that and an amplification of gratitude. What's next for you? My music is a by-product of me, so I hope that I am able to have the opportunity to continue to tell people how I feel about them. I used to be someone that could only really fully express this in songs, and one of my most freeing and authentic shifts has been deeply trusting in the Universe and loving myself enough to take the leap of faith to do this in real life too. There is someone very dear to me I would love the chance to properly reconnect with and spend more time together again now that I have this self-awareness. Ultimately though, I want to continue my practice and enjoy the journey of self-love I'm on and see where it leads and future doors it will open up. I have more music on the horizon – an EP where I'm lyrically exploring the lover archetype and the idea of having a soulmate or meta angel, and also an album about climate change and our personal interconnectedness with the Earth. I'd also like to explore fiction in my work again at some point too, as I love the imagination involved in sci-fi and fantasy world-building. Instagram Facebook

  • Fábio Vieira Says Being in Front of the Piano Is “Where I Belong”

From Portimāo, Portugal, expressive pianist and composer Fábio Vieira blesses our ears with his big return to the piano in his newest single, "Where I Belong." The 35-year-old artist began playing piano with his grandfather at five years old, only playing by ear and trying to reproduce songs on the radio. He went on to play at school events but stopped from 2004 to 2020. It wasn't until his grandfather passed in 2020 that he decided to buy a piano and create his favorite style of music, classical modern and melancholic. In honor of his late grandfather, Fábio Vieira believes that being in front of the piano is where he belongs; a brief explanation of the title of his latest single, "Where I Belong." Vieira explained how he recorded this song while living in an apartment where he had to play "really softly and gently, and the result reflects in my music." This stunning new single opens with slow and soft melodies that haunt our speakers with melancholy moments that shatter the soul. Without words, Fábio Vieira expresses such palpable emotion that he tells his personal story without the need for a single lyric. The subtle shifts in tempo and transitions make the story soothingly dynamic, helping us feel life's peaks and valleys. His fingers dance from high notes to low notes and everything in between with such composure and ease. It's a cinematic masterpiece, to say the least, and we couldn't be happier that Fábio Vieira is back where he belongs, expressing life's many moments in front of the piano. Experience the cinematic and soothing stylings of Fábio Vieira's latest single, "Where I Belong," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Fábio Vieira. You've genuinely moved us with your story and how it reflects in your recent single, "Where I Belong." When did you feel ready and inspired to create this piece? How long did it take to complete? "Where I Belong" is a piece of music that tends to be different from what I usually play. It's a happy, hopeful, and bright melody that reflects what I wanted to transmit to my public. I wanted my first music on the streaming platforms to be something that can make you smile, something that says: 'I am here, this where I belong.' People around me were always asking: 'Why don't you put your music on Spotify?' till then, I was just a guy that played in his free time melancholic and sad pieces very quietly in my room because that was my favorite thing to do, and I always thought that the digital music platforms were just too big for me, being there among the professionals, the piano geniuses are just so out of my league. But one day, I woke up and I said to myself, 'I am going to do it, but I want my debut single to be something different, something color full, inspiring, so I got myself a big mug of coffee, put my headphones on, closed my eyes, started to play random notes and in 3 hours I composed this song. It was very challenging because it was completely out of my comfort zone, but I did, and the funny thing is that I didn't even edit it in post-production. I didn't want it. What you've heard is exactly what happened in those 3 hours. What was your creative process like when composing the dynamic melodies in "Where I Belong?" How did you begin making the song and working it up from there? I tend to listen to myself. I think about past events, happy or sad memories, joyful moments, and things and people that left a mark on my life. I closed my eyes, and at the same time, with those thoughts in my mind, I started to imagine and create a soundtrack in my head that represented what those thoughts were making me feel. So I can say that the piano is the microphone of my soul. How do you hope to make listeners feel when hearing "Where I Belong?" What did you want them to experience? I want them to reach the end of the music and say: "Thank you for this journey." I want them to smile and feel the joy and happiness I want to transmit because that's what I felt when I got here. What was the most rewarding part about creating "Where I Belong?" What did you take away from the experience? A feeling of achievement. This is just a small step in the music world, but for me, it means a lot. Thinking about a 4-year-old kid that started to play digital keyboard on his grandfather's lap, hearing songs on the radio and trying to replicate them on the piano, no professional musical formation, self-taught, being here, making music, inspiring people, it's just something incredible. • May Rei Believes "It's All About Phases"

From Italy to Germany, composer, producer, and singer-songwriter May Rei shares her latest expansive and conceptual electronic tunes with her third studio album, It's All About Phases. May Rei is best known for using synthesizers, effects, virtual instrumentals, and vocals to recreate musical worlds and share fragments of information about herself. She adores rhythm and deeply admires natural sounds merged with different styles and cultures like synth-pop, oriental traditions, downtempo, and club bangers. Listeners can experience May Rei's vast sounds within her new 11-track album, It's All About Phases. To Rei, it's a collection of songs that create a series of snapshots of her life, all through memories of synth-pop and the pulsing rhythms of dance. The album opens with the introductory track, "Feeling Your Love," kicking off with a groovy drum arrangement alongside a plucky bass-like synth that sets the warm and sensual mood. As May Rei's tender vocals appear alongside fluttery, pulsating synths, she softly expands on holding onto someone's love through thick and thin. It's a smooth-sailing, toe-tapping experience that starts the album with a chilling groove. Moving onto track number two, "Gen X," May Rei opens the song with her soothing vocals alongside a unique synth-pop instrumental that's equally as expansive as it is mysterious. May Rei takes on a deeper lyrical theme in this piece, discussing the natural changes that involve the generations. The tranquil sonics merged with May Rei's gentle vocals are truly a treat for the ear. Dancing our way into the third track, "Akku Leer," we're met with a sparkling synth melody that pushes us into an expansive electronic atmosphere. May Rei brings forward another conceptual lyrical theme while the dark and chilling sonics roam the background. She sings of keeping things under control when we feel like we're caught in a spiral from life's hectic ways. It's a sonic and lyrical daydream in one. Spicing up the album is the fourth track, "A Kind of Magic," which opens with dizzying and buzzy synths that roam through the first verse alongside a plucky bass lick and May Rei's rhythmic vocals. The lively drum beats paired with the lush electronic arrangements, and groovy bass licks are incredibly refreshing. But perhaps what's more refreshing is May Rei's lyrics about the magical moments that enrich our daily lives. Slowing things down is the fifth track, "Clouds in My Head," opening with a moody bass lick and expansive background pads alongside a downtempo drum beat. May Rei's breathy and emotional vocals bask in the comfort of nostalgia but realizes how those reflective moments are somewhat bittersweet. This song is the perfect track to lay back and reflect on those moments when we felt alive. Reaching the album's halfway point with track number six, "Laura," we're greeted with smooth mid-tempo drums alongside soft guitar melodies and May Rei's emotional vocals. While singing about taking the empty roads and asking where to find the missing pieces to her puzzle, a buzzy bass line dances through our speakers to enhance the atmosphere tenfold. This emotion-rich song carries all the sweetness and realness we could ask for. Pumping up the groove is track number seven, "Pandora," opening with heavy mid-tempo drums and thick basslines alongside dark and eerie synth melodies. May Rei's dreamy vocals in this song are mesmerizing, especially as she keeps us engaged with her honest lyrics about learning how to spread our wings and fly when life's opportunities arise. It's an incredibly soulful tune that keeps us in a deep state of reflection. Ramping up the electronic vibe is track number eight, "Claustrophobia," floating through our speakers with distorted sci-fi synths that transition into a large bassline and tight drum breaks. As May Rei's angelic vocals begin floating down from above, the song slowly transitions into yet another ethereal electronic soundscape that soothes the mind, body, and soul. It feels like a cathartic and emotional outlet that's covered in different cultural flairs. Moving onto the ninth track, "On Hold," May Rei's cosmic vocals float through our speakers alongside a melodic sitar sample and mid-tempo drums that keep the groove alive. This unique instrumental piece helps us get to know May Rei's production abilities much more, especially as she showcases different vocal approaches, sounds, effects, and instruments. It's another spacey and chilling tune that leaves us in a psychedelic trance. Deepening the atmosphere is the album's tenth track, "Super-GAU," opening with airy, down-tempo drums with spacious and lush synths that keep us floating on cloud nine. Once again, May Rei blesses us with another chilling instrumental piece that's said to focus on the dramatic changes in our ecosystems and the world at large. It's a somber, mysterious, and emotional piece that's drenched in honest introspection. Landing on the album's eleventh and final track, "Void," the tune kicks off with dancy and upbeat drums alongside similar spacious synths from the track prior. Only, this time around, we feel a sense of liberation, where we've finally reached the mountain peak, and it's all downhill from here. May Rei puts her vocals aside once again in this track, allowing us to bask in her engaging production abilities that close the album on a rich and cathartic note. We invite you to take a break from your usual cycle and step outside of your routine with help from an expansive, stimulating. A refreshing album like May Rei's It's All About Phases is now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, May Rei. We admire the conceptual approach you've taken with your recent album, It's All About Phases. What inspired you to create an album about the different phases of your life? Hi, BuzzMusic! Thank you so much! I somehow had the need to translate my personal changes into music. Since the beginning, I have always tried to convey this message through my music, which is showing me as a human being in constant metamorphosis. This starts with the choice of my name, actually. There's a sense of evolution, of transformation, of change in my inner self and in my music. I evolve with time; I go through phases, and so does my music. This album is an extension of the first works, it's more mature and technically more elaborated. The phases here are spiritual, generational, and social. Music became a great opportunity for me to talk about the phases I have experienced so far in my life. It's all about phases that belong to my life, but that could also belong to anyone out there and to society itself. When did you begin writing songs and executing ideas for the album, It's All About Phases? How long did it take to create the project? I started creating new beats shortly after the release of Epiphany, my debut LP album in 2020. After that, I released a 4-track EP in 2021, and I was involved in other projects. I can say that I have been working hard for 10 months to finish It's All About Phases. To be honest, I never stop making music. When I say I'm having a break, I lie. I just sit down and create as soon as I have time. It's a constant flow. Also, I work on different projects at the same time - my electro duo Hertzen, for example. I like to be involved in different tasks. It has pros and cons, but, at the moment, I see just the pros. It's time-consuming, but I enjoy the learning process while working. Do you have a favorite song from the album, It's All About Phases? Why is that song so important to you? It's hard to decide. Each track is a part of me. However, I would say that Gen X is something special to me. It talks about generations and their choices, my generation (the very last Gen-Xers), and my memories. There's lots of nostalgia in it. Also, the sounds I chose evoke those feelings in me at best. Did you work entirely solo when creating the production and instrumentals for It's All About Phases? What was that process like? May Rei is my solo project, totally DIY. I have my own label, and I take care of the whole production of my works. I normally start composing, gathering the sounds I like, and recreating a mood with melodies. I love composing. This is, for me, the most creative part of music production. The end is the hardest part. You are almost there, but you know that you still have lots of responsibilities. Making music is a long process. Sometimes, it can be endless. But, I also think that accomplishing your work and saying "yes, it's done" is part of the learning process. Making music is not only a way to recreate me, to re-discover myself. For me, as an independent artist, making music is also about making decisions and being self-confident. And It's All About Phases just marks a step forward. What did you hope listeners feel and take from the album, It's All About Phases? What experience did you want to offer? I definitely wanted to present a more rhythmic, melodic, and introspective work. So, if the listeners can relate themselves to my music and use it as a means to express their own feelings, then it means it worked. I mean, one can have his or her own interpretation of my songs, and that's okay. As soon as I put my music out, this one is not only mine anymore. Writing music is writing stories. I live my music in a very intimate and personal way. A kind of therapy. That's an opportunity for the listeners to know me better and to know themselves better, too. I want to let them in and show an imaginary world that we can share, a place between light and darkness. Instagram Facebook
