  • Sam Brace Leaves The Story, “Partly Coded”

After ten years of relentless touring with Skinny Lister, Sam Brace finally arrived home after his final international runs supporting The Interrupters across Canada and North America in November 2019. His desire to venture on his musical journey soon set sail, but he was brainstorming ideas about how to approach this. The pandemic turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Sam Brace, as this posed the perfect opportunity to begin experimenting. As you tour through Sam Brace’s music catalog, you’re bound to wind up at his most recent release, “Partly Coded.” The textured atmosphere heard etched into the music has us delving into the passion that Sam Brace emanates when performing his vulnerable timbres. His songwriting utilizes timing and space effectively as we feel the impact of each pause between his lyrical motifs. It’s in those moments where we hear his opulent croons resting on the final words of his verses. Being the lead track on his forthcoming album 'Fever & Bones,' the album itself is a celebration of and memorial to past and future moments. “Partly Coded” masterfully fits into this burgeoning concept. The complex narrative revolves around losing the person you’re closest to yet gaining them back again, only to realize you’ve had to leave behind things important to your identity. Through such a heartfelt offering of lyrics, Sam Brace leaves us feeling his poetic storytelling in such a monumental way. “Partly Coded” is a mere taste of what to expect from the obsession, heat, and lust you’ll be exposed to on 'Fever & Bones.' Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sam Brace, and congratulations on the release of the lead single from your forthcoming album! What inspired you to make this single the track to introduce "Fever & Bones?" Thanks! And thanks for having me on! "Partly Coded" instinctively felt like it needed to be track one on the album from the moment I finished it. The introduction to the track itself also serves as a perfect scene-setter for the record. The song quickly became one of my favorites tracks after putting the big Bends era Radiohead style guitars down. I still get a buzz off the way the sound of those lead lines makes me feel! Also, one of the last things we added was the sound of the sea at the very start and end of this track. It's subtle, but I love the fact it kicks off with breaking waves, I've always been close to the sea or the Thames throughout my life and it including an element of the sound of this felt like it was the only way to open up the record. Is the narrative of "Partly Coded" based on a true story? Does your songwriting often take this approach? All our songs are based on some kind of truth. Even if it's spun out slightly or viewed from a different perspective, the original idea is usually from an experience we have lived. Adam, the co-writer on all these tracks, is our main lyric man. We've worked together to hone the stories and deliver honestly but also an open interpretation of lyrical themes across the record. "Partly Coded" itself is about losing the person you're closest to... And then getting them back again by letting go of a bunch of things you'd wrongly thought were important to your identity. The song is also a reminder never to close yourself off to the possibility of change, however painful it might seem. What can you tell listeners about the upcoming collection of songs to be released? 'Fever & Bones' is the hyper-intense state of being that characterizes the moment you become totally infatuated with someone. The obsession, heat, and lust that takes over every thread of your being. But it is also about the pain when things come to an end. When all you feel is hot confusion layered over a walking skeleton. The album is a celebration of and memorial to those moments - past and future. What main message do you want your audience to take away from this single? I really want people to listen to 'Fever & Bones' and be left feeling like it's a familiar yet new sound that reflects some of my greatest musical inspirations from 90's rock with a healthy modern rock twist on the top. It's already been amazing to see some of the reactions to the first few singles. I'm so excited to finally get the whole record out, we have a tonne more ideas, and we've already got a number of tracks down for whatever will follow 'Fever & Bones.' It feels like the journey is only just beginning, and we're stoked to see where it will take us. Instagram Facebook

  • WØLFDARLING Welcomes Us To The "ghost empire"

Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, is a brotherly duo and alternative rock band WØLFDARLING with their latest gripping and deeply personal new single, "ghost empire." WØLFDARLING comprises Sam and Jack Urich, who never fail to impress audiences with their dynamic, melodic, and meaningful alt-rock tunes. Perhaps the duo's latest single is one of the most compelling of theirs to date. The new single, "ghost empire," not only tracks Sam's first heartbreak but the role that dying from an illness played in the split. He explains that he started writing the song "When I was first encountering heartbreak. I finished writing this song when I was dying of an illness in 2012," adding that "there were other reasons, to be sure, but it was certainly inflamed by my sickness." Produced by Chuck Alkazian at Pearl Sound Studios, the new single also features the lively drum stylings of Jason Hartless. Jumping into "ghost empire," we're greeted with Sam's crunchy rhythm guitar alongside his melodic and warm vocals that set the tone with vast emotion, anguish, and confusion. As Hartless' drums begin pounding through our speakers, he ramps up the energy while Jack's thumping bass gives the song added rhythm and drive. What's interesting is how WØLFDARLING blasts into the radiant and harmonious hook while subtly traversing into this weirdly feel-good and inclusive space, possibly representing the point of acceptance during a relationship's end. We adore the minimal nods to punk-rock alongside Sam's thrilling vocal performance; he truly depicts every ounce of pain, physical and emotional, he experienced during such confusing times. Allow WØLFDARLING to help you find meaning in loss with their latest cathartic single, "ghost empire," now available on all streaming platforms. You've genuinely left your mark with your recent emotional and deeply personal single, "ghost empire." Could you describe the moment you felt compelled to create this cathartic song? I am warmed by your kind words. Yes, the song came together a bit like a patchwork monster. I started the tune years ago when I was in high school. Then certain events occurred that further imbued the song with life. I became sick at the end of high school, and this bled into many things, including playing a part in the split between my girlfriend and I and a major shift in perspective on existence. I was dying. And I knew it. The last thing I wanted was to bring her down with me, so I let her go. And spent a lot of my time contemplating death, shifting between fits of acceptance to outright wrath toward my illness. Do you feel that the end product, "ghost empire," represents those tragic moments you were aiming to display? How were you able to tell that it was complete? I will say that I am happy with how this recording turned out. There are always things an artist may want to change or adjust as we are growing beings. But that is the beauty of art; it is frozen in space, both timeless and time-bound, intimately depicting a moment in your life. However, the artwork is never complete. It is only gently abandoned. You say what you come to say and then let it live on its own. If we keep "fixing" our art to "perfection" then we will never get our song out to listeners! You just need to feel when it is time to let it be and stand on its own. How did producer Chuck Alkazian help execute your vision and goal for "ghost empire"? How did he give the song an added boost? Chuck has been at this for a long time, and he offered many tips that helped shape the song. His ear comes with natural affinity and years of experience. So there are parts of the song that Chuck advised we shift a little here or try this there. He has worked with many rock artists as well, and with this being our grittiest song so far, he helped boost that kind of sound. How do you want "ghost empire" to impact your audience? What do you want them to take away? I will not tell my listeners how to feel when listening to my music, for, just like medicine interacts uniquely when exposed to different bodies, music is the same (it is medicine, after all). So every listener may hear a different message or find a different note that strikes them. However, the underlying emotion to all our songs is the battle cry that you are NOT alone, that we are here to hold you as long as it takes, and that making peace with your shadow leads to transcendence. What's next for you? What's next? Well, first, I want to finish this semester with my brain still intact…but after that, it will be more writing until we get back in the studio. I will be shipping out to Sweden for a study abroad this summer, and I will be bringing my notebooks, as I imagine many lyrics and poetic verses will bloom in that beautiful land. WØLFDARLING will be returning to the forest for a few moons, but we will return with many new sounds for you, our tribe! Keep an ear out for our call! Facebook

I'll be releasing a few more singles until the album drops this Summer. See you at the mansion parties! Instagram

  • Experience Sonic Serenity in Sumale’s Fifth Studio EP, ‘Facing Life’

Carving his own unique lane in the electronic scene is Los Angeles native producer and musician Sumale with his fifth studio EP entitled 'Facing Life.' Actively releasing music since 2019, Sumale's discography mainly covers the vast spectrum of electronic music with heavy hip-hop influences. Sumale showcases his authentic approach to composing and layering electronic music with each release, and his latest 4-track EP, 'Facing Life,' is no exception. The project begins with the sweet-sounding introductory and title track, "Facing Life," which brightly opens with glimmering keys reminiscent of 90s r&b alongside crisp percussion and added chime-like synths to balance things out. Once the warm drums begin tapping through our speakers, an airy and distant vocal meets the ears with this overall dreamy and lush feel. We appreciate how Sumale uses this project to explore the softer, more melodic sides of electronics that perfectly contrast his high-energy club-like tunes in 2020 and 2021. Jumping into track number two, "Use To," this tune opens with a more lo-fi electronic approach through simple, melodic keys and one hell of a groovy drum arrangement. Sumale makes perfect use of soulful vocal samples in this track, which send the song into this feel-good space, almost like a sonic pick-me-up. As the track slowly expands with added electronic synths for that sought-after ethereal flair, Sumale continues to impress us while leaving us captivated by each unique arrangement and the song's overall bright and luminous feel. Moving past the EP's halfway point with the third track, "Tranquility," the song's title perfectly represents the sensation listeners are bound to experience when hitting play. The tune breaks open with chime-like and melodic keys and the softest background keys for added depth. We can't get enough of Sumale's thoughtful sonic arrangements; it's clear he kept the listener's experience in mind when creating such earworm melodies and cohesive arrangements that truly send any listeners onto cloud 9. Tender vocal samples greet the ears once again to round out this lush and chilling piece. Reaching the EP's fourth and outro track, "Here For," Sumale opens this track with this thick and groovy drum arrangement alongside the utmost modern synth arrangements. As the song continues to expand, Sumale adds hints of string-like samples to provide a more cinematic and orchestral experience. All that aside, Sumale perfectly delivers the same head-bopping rhythms and chilling synths to take us to the outro and close the EP with ample passion, bliss, and an overall optimistic feel that's more than refreshing. Snag your serving of serenity from Sumale's explorative 4-track EP, 'Facing Life,' now available on all digital streaming platforms. We adored the easy-listening and groovy electronic arrangements you've delivered on your recent E.P., 'Facing Life.' So why did you choose to create a project that's a bit more relaxed and chill than your previous tunes? I appreciate the listening and feedback. So far, I have accepted the duality in my approach to sound. As much as I love putting together layers of gritty-sounding synths and bass grooves, I also enjoy the simplicity in some of my sessions which almost always results in delivering more "relaxed and chill" compositions. During the process of 'Facing Life,' I was going through a very rough period in my life. When I turn to music for solace, I usually work on compositions that ease my anxiety and help put me in a meditative state of mind. There are moments, though, when I am self-conscious about my releases sounding vastly different from one another. I've come to learn that as long as you put in hard work and believe in what you are creating, someone out there will resonate with your creation. We live in a time where originality can be heard, shared, and encouraged instantaneously on numerous platforms. What inspired the four lush and electronic/lo-fi tracks on 'Facing Life?' Do these songs all carry a common theme? I am part of a Discord/Twitch community called Raresounds World, a Detroit, Michigan-Windsor, Canada label. From that label, I listen to an artist that goes by, Datsunn. When I joined Datsunn's Twitch stream, it was when his patented "Sunnflips Challenge" started getting a buzz on Instagram. It's a weekly challenge where Datsunn creates an original 1–2-minute composition(sample) that usually includes his vocals. He then gives participating producers 24 hours to use the sample in any way they see fit in an entirely new track of their own. Datsunn then hosts a live Twitch stream playing all the submissions and giving feedback on them. After weeks of participating in the Sunnflips Challenge, I noticed that I kept revisiting the four tracks that make up this E.P. Each track helped me cope with my relapses with alcohol addiction and the low self-esteem that came with it. Seeing each track through to its entirety was some of the best therapy I could give myself. It helped tell my journey into sobriety, with each track representing the phases I was going through before reaching mental clarity. When the tracks finally felt complete, I decided to post the raw sessions on my Instagram page. I quickly noticed the positive reception they were getting, so I immediately contacted my mixing/mastering engineer, Louie Ramos, to help me deliver a professional-sounding release. Could you touch on what your creative process looked like behind the scenes of 'Facing Life?' How did you begin laying the foundation and working your way up? With each sample, I play it on repeat and take my eyes off the computer screen so I can listen and feel the vibe. Next, I took mental notes of particular snippets of the sample that stood out to me and started editing the waveform on my Maschine Mk3. I experiment with the speed of the sample and make the necessary sample chops to formulate the groove I hear in my head. In this meticulous part of the process, I get very surgical with the waveform edits and check for any clicks/pops when playing it on my drum pads. When I piece together the groove, it sounds completely natural. For the first three tracks, I was fortunate enough to have the original audio stems of the sample. It gave me more creative freedom, but my process stayed the same. I experiment with different drum progressions, add my bass lines if I feel it needs it, and other ear candy that helps each track stand out. The last part of the process, which I have the most fun with, is finding the right vocal samples. Using Datsunn's vocals helped seal the chill and relaxed vibe that this project has. I was able to include lyrics that fit the groove of the tracks and resonated with me as well. My favorite lyrics are from the first track: "We've been facing life; in ways, we might not like" That line struck a deep chord in me as it perfectly captured my journey during the making of this E.P. Could you explain the significance of the cover art for 'Facing Life?' How does this mirrored beast-to-human reflection add to your concept? For many years I made drinking a part of my creative process and social life. When I bought my Maschine Mk3, I remember staying up late putting together some of my first compositions for my first album. For every track I was doing, I had a few drinks in me to help take the edge off my overthinking and feel the music. This process inspired the name of my first album, "Confessions of a Drunk." Before releasing anything, I needed some artist persona to represent my love for music and drinking on the cover art. That's where one of my best friends and cover/logo artist, Gary Cooper, stepped in and suggested a brown rabbit in a lab coat. I was putting out releases at a steady pace, but then life happened, and my drinking got out of hand as I was hit with some pivotal changes in my life. The most recent being the loss of a best friend to suicide. He was like a brother to me, and without any closure to his passing, I turned to drinking to alleviate the pain. As I was numbing the reality of his death, I turned away from my music, and before I knew it, I hit a tipping point. When I finally decided to quit, I endured the physical/mental withdrawals, and what kept my sanity going was working on this E.P. As Ramos and I got close to finishing the mastered version of this E.P., I remember hitting a point of mental clarity during my reflection of my past addiction: I was convinced that I needed alcohol to be creative, social and strong in my life. I know now that the source of those qualities comes not from the bottom of an empty bottle but from within me. I have always been the answer to my problems, happiness, and artistry. The rabbit is finally experiencing that same epiphany with my human reflection in the cover art. And, like me, he is finally facing life at its clearest. How do you hope to make your audience feel when listening to the dreamy and groovy songs in 'Facing Life?' The world can be a dark and chaotic place. The weight of this truth can be unbearable at times, and many suffer through their struggles in silence. But like many of us musicians/music fans, we turn to music for its therapeutic quality. It can be a particular artist, album, or even genre we grew up with that keeps our sanity intact. That's what I hope that this project offers, that same therapeutic quality. For the listener to feel calm and at peace. Essentially, a sonic experience that can help the listener navigate through the chaos and see the light within. Instagram Facebook

Representing the South Side forever, you can't get any more Chicago than the city's very own Matt B. Praised by Rhymefest and other city luminaries, he's made himself a local attraction and constant presence to those tuned in with him. Touring us through the sounds of Chicago Hip-hop and R&B, Matt B's debut album 'Eden' fits directly into ambitious, dedicated, and wonderfully immersive concepts. Guaranteed to get lost in the sounds of "Gimme Love," the international single features the skill set of one of the most popular artists in Uganda. The electrifying, award-winning Eddy Kenzo accompanies Matt B in this musical portrayal of empowering cultural references. Immediately drawn toward this display of unity and expression, there's a reason why all eyes are on the "Gimme Love" music video. Eye-catching in the best way possible will be rather tricky for you to fix your attention anywhere else while the visuals for "Gimme Love" are playing. The artistic talents of both Matt B and Eddy Kenzo amalgamate to form a sincere, attraction-grabbing performance that you won't be able to shake. From the stunning group of women dressed head to toe in a colorful fashion representative of their ethnic background to the creative and well-thought-out angles that allow the natural skin tones of each cast member to shine. The Black excellence on the screen is refreshing in all the right ways, as the camera captures this perfectly. Making an irrepressibly optimistic record, it's safe to say that Matt B's latest single is poised to expand his influence and audience even further. The collaboration between yourself and Eddy Kenzo has us feeling immense joy through the entirety of this piece's sonic and visual portion. How did this collaboration come to be? What was it like working with one another to achieve this vision? Eddy and I met at an event in Los Angeles. We were seated right next to one another and instantly caught a vibe. A few days later, we hit the studio, which was fun. Eddy is a very laid-back guy, and I am, too, so the creative flow was perfect! The song literally wrote itself. It was almost like the record had a mind of its own, and the music just flowed through us. After creating the record, we knew we had to do a music video. With me finding out just recently about my ancestral roots, I knew the music video had to pay homage to the Motherland. What is the deeper meaning of "Gimme Love?" What do you hope that your audience can take away from it? "Gimme Love" is a love song with an upbeat feel. The magic is really in the melodies. They feel almost angelic as you go through a visual and audible journey. What better topic to sing about than the universal language of love. I hope that when my fans consume this work of art, they can see the growth in my artistry. That I have more dimension than just R&B records and club bangers. I'm tapping in with my ancestors and allowing them to sing their songs through me. My music has transcended into something special and something even greater than me. The visuals showcased in the music video are stunning! What was the experience like on set? Who helped you to achieve this vision? The music video was like organized chaos. We shot the video in Topanga, CA, at the top of a mountain. The lead model, Nyakim, had a flight to catch that same morning, so she was under a tight time crunch. She only had about an hour to shoot. As if that wasn't bad enough, her Uber dropped her off on the wrong side of the mountain a few miles from the shoot location. Then the dancers were left at the bottom of the hill and didn't know what was happening because the phone signals there were horrible. So I had to go pick them up in a tiny car on set. Halfway up the mountain, the car's transmission couldn't take so many people in it, so I had to leave a few of the dancers on the side of the road and come back for them. Then, my stylist forgot half of the wardrobe at her studio, and my manager, Angela, was holding it down to make sure things got done. It was a crazy day, but the video turned out amazing! I'm grateful to my team and the other great minds involved in achieving this visual masterpiece. It truly is a work of art. What has been the best advice you've been given this year that you have applied to your craft? The best piece of advice this year would be not to overthink music. Music is simple, so keep it simple. Eddy told me that, and as I watched him work in the studio, that stuck with me. My translation is that you should be having fun and relaxing when creating. Don't overthink something so simple. Music is the heartbeat of our lives. We can't alter or control it. We can only express what already exists in us. What's next for you? The world is mine. I have no limitations in this life other than the ones I set before me. I hope that everyone watches closely as I continue to rise in this music industry. More music is on the way! • In The Shallows Tell Us Worry Not and "Let It Go"

Hailing from Wellington, New Zealand, alternative folk band and duo In The Shallows return with a sweet-sounding anthem to unite us all entitled "Let It Go." In The Shallows has been dusting the industry with its lush stylings since the summer of 2019 when Welsh singer-songwriter Danni Parsons felt captivated by the raw vocals of Kiwi rock and roller Lance Shepherd—prompting the creation of In The Shallows. Alongside in-studio musicians Andrew Bain (Fur Patrol) and Nick Brown (Eb & Sparrow, Vorn), In The Shallows is just starting to peel back their first layers of success. Recently releasing the harmonious and inspirational new tune, "Let It Go," the song evokes warm and lush summer energy but carries a far deeper meaning than what's on the surface. The duo is known for making intricate tales of love, loss, connection, redemption, and empowerment, and this song is truly no exception. Beginning our venture into "Let It Go," the track opens with a groovy reggae-like instrumental through a rhythmic drum arrangement, bright guitar strokes, warm organ pulses, and an energetic brass section. Listening to Danni Parsons' sweet and angelic vocals, she sings of coming together and hoping we realize we're more similar than it might seem. She continues to passionately encourage us to let go of expectations about how life 'should' be lived' while calling on us to accept the uncertainty of life's journey. The instrumentals in this track carry us to the outro with this gentle but dancy groove that keeps our toes tapping but locked onto Parsons' lush vocals the entire ride. Get rid of those worries and "Let It Go" with In The Shallows' new single, now available on all digital streaming platforms. We love your new single's genuine approach and relatable aspects of "Let It Go." What made you want to create a song about accepting uncertainty and 'letting it go'? Even before now, nothing was certain in the world. We lived in an illusion of sorts, believing we had control over our lives and what would come next. That we could plan ahead, and for the most part, everything would happen as we had hoped. But the truth is that nothing was ever guaranteed. In some ways, there's nothing new about the situation other than us realizing more than ever that we need to embrace uncertainty and live in the moment, as you never know what's around the corner. As for 'letting it go,' it's just surrendering to what is and how we thought our lives would look, and how we think others should be. For those who are up for the challenge, we have been given an opportunity to learn to be more present, more accepting of what is, and to practice surrendering to what is. Extending this to others, allowing them to be as they are, making conscious efforts not to make preconceived judgments of others without really knowing, and sometimes never really understanding the context in which they make their decisions or choose to do what they do. In a time where there is so much divisiveness, too, just being aware of our tendencies when we're living in fear of blaming others. A reminder that we're all more the same than we care to admit some times and that we're all afraid of something right now. It's just that the perceived threat is different. When we cultivate that kind of compassion, we are able to unite with others, as ultimately all we want as humans is connection, and to be loved and accepted by others. Did you share the songwriting process for "Let It Go?" How long did it take to formulate a cohesive theme and create the song's lyricism? Often it starts with Danni writing the lyrics, some basic chords/guitar riff, and the melody. Then we build on that. Lance will play much fancier guitar parts as he's much more skilled in that way! Then the band, again all incredibly talented, add their flair to it, which is always intuitively perfect for every song we've written. Why did you choose to give "Let It Go" a reggae-like vibe for the song's instrumentals? Do you feel this sonic atmosphere helped portray that sweet summer feeling? We never actively intend for a song to be a certain way. It's very much an organic process where when we just have it in our heads how we hear the song and can't hear it in any other way. So we go with it and see where it takes us! We've noticed that your music tends to be rather inspirational and empowering. What inspired your duo to take that gripping musical route? The intent of our music has always been for it to be honest and authentic. We figure that whatever we're experiencing, it's likely it will resonate with others. Danni has done a bit of Yoga and meditation training over in India over the years, so she draws a bit from yogic philosophy as well as what's going on in her heart and in the world around her. Our hope is that the music will be relatable and that through this music, we can create a genuine connection with our audiences. Instagram

  • Joanna DeGrace Debuts Her Emotions With "Hourglass"

Wearing many hats, Joanna DeGrace is a Montreal-based nurse, wellness coach, and songwriter debuting her artistic side with the release of her single "Hourglass." Since her early days in the church choir, high school musicals, a rock band, and in most recent years, she has been singing as an alto in Carol Bernard's Montreal Gospel Choir. Be prepared to see more from this fresh face as Joanna DeGrace is only beginning. Congratulations on the release of your debut single, "Hourglass." From sitting on your musical creations for so long to gaining the courage to place them in the ears of the public, what has been the best part of this journey so far? The best part of the journey has been getting that excitement back; you know the kind of enthusiasm when you are in your element? Collaborating with musicians who believe in my project was also lots of fun. Why did you choose to have "Hourglass" set the tone for your artistry? What do you want this song to say about you as a creator? This song captures, to some degree, my worldview and spiritual journey through little reflections. Living in the moment, being grateful for the now, embracing the questions and the mystery of it all. Getting to a place where I have peace with that conclusion was a rollercoaster, but this song represents my landing place. Who helped to make "Hourglass" live out the vision you intended? I wrote Hourglass on the piano, very stripped down, but I had a vision for the sound and instrumentation, which I delegated to my ex-husband to arrange. I was listening quite obsessively at the time to Taylor Swift's Red album, which no doubt influenced my taste, and I also wanted alot of lap steel. Eight years down the line, I connected with Richard White, who mixed and mastered 5 of my songs, and Richard Irwin, who recorded the much-needed drums, all via virtual collaborations during the height of the lockdown in MTL on my days off while being reassigned in a hot zone as a nurse. What message would you like your music to say to your audience? Music is a powerful medium of expression and has helped me navigate hard periods in my life. If my music can do the same for my audience, either as a means of connection, relating to the lyrics, or uplifting their mood, that is a privilege for me to facilitate. What's next for you? I am currently in talks with a record label, so that is exciting... More songs are being finalized as we speak, so I'll need to decide if I want to release old material first, then hit you all up with my newer songs or intertwined... Big decisions. I'd also like to start performing with some small shows locally as well and go from there! Instagram

  • Jocelyn Cecilia Soothes On Sweet New Single, “27”

Singer-songwriter Jocelyn Cecilia draws listeners in with her indie-pop sound. Taking inspiration from some of her favorites, including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and James Arthur. As heard on her latest single, "27," Jocelyn Cecilia has much to offer her audience with her vulnerable lyrics and expressive melodies. Taking us back in time with her reminiscent track "27," Jocelyn Cecilia captures our attention with her elegant yet powerful vocals and drapes us in her warm vocal blanket. The track "27" is an intimate depiction of passionate love between two lovers, reminiscing about dreamy beach nights and taking pictures with a flash for that dreamy effect. On "27", Jocelyn boldly sings about the vulnerable and intimate moments she wants to share with her partner, "hold my hand when I'm not at my best" and "make me laugh at things only we get," sentimental moments every audience member can relate to. As she continues within the melody, she sweetly swoons about her partner and the utter devotion and honesty he has shown her. Jocelyn's melodious sounds lift us away on a soft cloud with instrumentals filled with sweet notes and mellow chords that shine an aurora around the listener. As passionate as she is about her art, Jocelyn's dedication to songwriting, arranging, singing, and her ability to play multiple instruments is genuinely inspiring. Light some candles, dim the lights, get comfortable, and press play on Jocelyn Cecilia's new single, "27." Welcome to BuzzMusic, Jocelyn, and congratulations on your latest single, "27." What message did you want your listeners to take away from this record? Honestly, I think "27" is a wistful, fun, summer-loving track, and I want my listeners to gain a sense of joy and nostalgia from listening to it. The song centers around the 27 pictures you have on a disposable camera and how you have to care about what, or who, you take your photos of. So I think I'd want the audience to interpret that however they see fit and think about the people in their life that are most important to them. "27" is such a unique piece of art. How was the process of creating it, and what were some moments that stood out for you? Some of my favorite moments when creating this track were studio times at Jazzcats Studios in Long Beach, California. I'm super lucky to have been able to work with Jonny from Jazzcats and Rachel and Brett Kramer on this track. This is only the second single I've put out, so getting to be in the studio, eating all the Trader Joe's snacks, adding and moving parts around, and playing everything by ear (literally), was special. Despite its somewhat sad lyrics, the song is upbeat and just made for a good time when we recorded it over the winter holiday. What is your usual songwriting/arranging process, and did you try different formulas with "27?" My songs usually start with an idea, and that could be a lyric, melody, chord progression, concept, or a mixture of them. "27" started with the verse melody and the opening line "taking pictures, beach nights with the flash on." The song and this opening verse were inspired by the person-I-wrote-the-song-about's Instagram account. Every picture on their feed was taken on a disposable, many of them on the beach. After I had a melody and idea, the chords came naturally, and with some tweaking and editing along the way, "27" was born into the song you can now stream on all platforms! Being an artist entails meeting different people all the time, what is the best piece of advice someone else has given you? "Be vulnerable, and anything is possible." Songwriting is very subjective, and the harsh truth is that not everyone will like your music. I'm a people pleaser, but I've learned that I can't please everyone, especially in this industry. Vulnerability is not a weakness but a strength. Some of the world's greatest hits could be sitting in a string of untitled voice memos or on a forgotten page of a notebook, never to be heard. I feel so lucky that I get to share my music with the world, and I hope that people out there will connect with me and my music. What's next for you? There might be a few things cooking… I'm still growing, improving, and changing as an artist. I'm still trying to find my style, my sound. But in any case, you can expect that "27" will not be my last. This is just the beginning. Instagram

  • “ISpy” A New Banger From Binxx And Mati Lyons

Sending us into the depths of pop-punk passion is singer-songwriter and recording artist Binxx alongside art-pop artist Mati Lyons for their anthemic new single, "ISpy." Binxx constantly takes listeners into stimulating and emotional sonic journeys that ooze in authenticity and meaning. Just under three years in the music scene, he's already garnered over 2 million streams by painting beautiful images of emotion that contrast other dominant, heavy-hitting, and thrilling punk tunes from the young recording artist. Now teaming up with singer-songwriter and art-pop connoisseur Mati Lyons, the two just dropped their melodic and catchy new bop "ISpy." The song tracks the dynamic thoughts and emotions within a relationship while concluding that even though the future is hazy and romance might be dead, there's no issue in reliving those sweet memories one last time before we arrive at a dead end. Jumping into the hearty tune, "ISpy (feat. Mati Lyons)," the song kicks off with a warm and clear rhythm guitar riff alongside Binxx's filtered vocals that slowly creep into the foreground. As a bright, heavy hip-hop beat begins punching through our speakers, Binxx starts setting the scene with emotional, confusing settings that navigate the troubles of a relationship while knowing you're attached by the hip. Mati Lyons makes her way in around the second verse to bring a needed female flair for added elegance and emotion. She sings a similar confused message of wanting to rekindle a flame even though problems and issues are constantly arising. While both parties are patiently waiting for the weekend to let loose, they close the song with immense energy and passion to take us there. Head into the weekend and turn up to Binxx and Mati Lyons' new single, "ISpy (feat. Mati Lyons)," now available on all digital streaming platforms. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Binxx. We're thrilled to feature such an anthemic and relatable track like "ISpy." What was the main source of inspiration behind this vibrant tune? "ISpy" is that typical but relatable love story where you and another individual are constantly playing games with each other, not sure where it's all heading towards. Is this a good or bad thing? I like her or him but is this right? We pull at each other's love strings until that moment of clarity. The mindset of young love, just waiting for the weekend to play again. What made you want to collaborate with Mati Lyons for "ISpy?" What did she add to the song that you were looking for? I discovered Mati through a friend who said she created music similar to mine. We hit it off right away and decided it would be a great idea to collaborate and make a song together that would complement each other's styles. I love Mati's energy, vocals, and fresh twist she brings to her music. What was your songwriting process like for "ISpy?" Did you and Lyons share this process or write your own lyrics separately? The process was fairly simple actually. I just wrote my part and placed everything, ready for Mati to fill in the open verse. After that, I mixed and mastered the song. The rest is history! Did you have any artistic influences or projects in mind when creating the sound and vibe for "ISpy?" Yes, the song was influenced by the popular sound of Oliver Trees' song "Life Goes On". I loved the fun and interesting sound of that particular song. I really wanted to create and mix a track like it in my own way. I feel I captured a vibe and a level of catchiness from the hook I developed, the same as Oliver Tree did with his song. What's next for you? I have been working on my sound and have many new and refreshing songs on the way. I feel I'm just starting to really find my niche, being fairly new to making music. I continue developing my sound and style of music and can't wait for everyone to hear what I have in store. I am officially sticking to my roots of Pop Punk but with a new twist of Hyperpop sprinkled in. My craft keeps getting better and evolving, and people will continue to see Binxx pop up in the near future. Instagram
