- The Ormidales Are Patiently, "Waiting For Catherine To Call"
Grooving in from Vancouver, British Columbia, is singer-songwriter duo The Ormidales with their cathartic and empowering single, "Waiting For Catherine To Call." The Ormidales are Bill Oliver and Mark Branscombe, who formed the band back in 2007. After releasing albums like "The Ormidales" and "These Little Dreams," the musicians landed themselves vast radio airplay throughout Canada, the U.S., Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Asia. Their hit single, "Waiting For Catherine To Call," was impressively played at two Liverpool soccer games with audiences of over 50k at each match. We definitely understand why the song has generated so much traction, as The Ormidales add that it's a "nod to the feminine divine and universal energy" that signals how Catherine's eventual call is a sign that finding peace of mind is a worthwhile pursuit. Hitting play on "Waiting For Catherine To Call," the experience begins with a warm and bright alternative-folk instrumental and a dash of electronic production to round out the listening experience. As Bill Oliver enters the song with his deep and melodic vocals, he begins expanding on how different people have different ways to cope with stress while waiting for Catherine to call. This perpetual waiting period symbolizes our fight for inner freedom, happiness, and well-being, and when Catherine eventually calls, these beings will hopefully find what they're looking for on their tiresome journeys. The song's instrumentals and arrangements offer this feel-good and dreamy escape that's truly food for the soul, and we couldn't have asked for a more blissful and rejuvenating experience. Don't sit around "Waiting For Catherine To Call," instead, make each day on this plane worthwhile with a little hope for a brighter future. Find the inspirational hit on all digital streaming platforms. We're incredibly impressed with the meaningful concept within your single, "Waiting for Catherine to Call. "What inspired this particular concept and lyrical theme? Bill: In absolute truth, it was written on awakening from a most vivid, colorful dream that I felt an ancestral intuition that I was in Scotland looking out to an azure lough with green rolling hills and oddly a dead pink flamingo. The air was full of lovely ethereal voices. The opening line of "Someone killed the pink flamingo" erupted in a flow of images jotted down, almost like the pencil was being held and guided from elsewhere. The messenger seemed to be the universal spirit channeled through a feminine divine mystery I called Catherine for an earthly relationship. The lyrics were hopefully understood at primal and archetypal levels, a song for all. In truth, a sad event happened two or three weeks after the genesis of the song in that someone killed a pink flamingo in Stanley Park here in Vancouver. That brought an extra layer of meaning to the song. Very strange indeed. Mark: This was all Bill's writing if I recall correctly. He showed me how it went, and we volleyed ideas around about the production and parts that would go on it. We left the pot on the stove with Pd Wohl, and he added the seasoning, some great guitar, and keyboard parts that helped propel the song down the runway and into the air. Could you break down how you want about creating the feel-good and melodic instrumentals/production for "Waiting for Catherine to Call?" What was that creative process like? Bill: As usual, a skeleton idea started with a simple chord pattern with a melody that seemed to fit to get it born. We wanted it to sound grand and envisioned an ethereal female vocal to compliment it and deliver the spirit of the muse. Over to Mark about the color, textures, and sounds. Etc. Mark: As Bill said, a sketch was laid down with a vocal and an acoustic guitar. That was the same method with a lot of songs we recorded in this period. Pd Wohl, our producer, would figure out what feel might suit the tune, a vibe, and so he'd cook up a rhythm track. The rhythm was peppier than we had envisioned, and we needed to keep the dreamy, ethereal vibe going. Keyboards and a few tracks of guitars were getting it there, but then Bill recalled a tonal throat singer that he'd located on Craigslist, Kiva Simova. We had a great session, letting Kiva add the tones and parts that she felt while the song rolled through her headphones. She brought the other-worldly feel to the song. With the electronic backing, we kept the acoustic guitar to maintain an organic element in the weave of the song. What sort of feelings or emotions did you want to evoke in the listener when experiencing "Waiting for Catherine to Call?" Bill: To experience as close as possible to the essence of the song and what it perhaps might tap into in their own ancestral/DNA memory codes. Suppose they might be able to feel the vibe within the song in their spirit and the wonderful nature of their spirit. Mark: Working on the tune was like crafting an invitation to the spirit world's other side. I hoped that the song might let people take a moment to consider the energy out in the world and beyond, raise their antenna and scan the cosmos a bit for significant messages, signals, or something that connected them to something other than the wires and hardware that occupy so much of our daily life. On a more personal note, why do you think "Waiting for Catherine to Call" has been so successful? What do you think made the song so popular? Bill: Hopefully, it has a universal hooky feeling with a chorus that is immediately recognizable. Mark: The beat for sure, it's got the oonsa, oonsa oonsa thing happening, and Kiva's vocal, which is very penetrating, gets into the cracks in your soul in a very ancient way. The song was a unique and interesting blend of pop music and ethereal throat singing. It stands out from what was happening when we recorded it, so it caught some ears. What's next? Bill: More songs, videos per usual to have ourselves on the air and keep the message flowing. Mark: We're always writing, and the world is never short of subject matter. We're impressionists of our time. Really, we'll hope to create an impression that resonates with a wide band of consciousness or might provide inspiration, escape or provoke further thought on a subject. Sometimes we're just ear candy for recreational listeners…and that's fine too. A lot of our music was made "in the box" with parts added after the basic track was recorded or entirely made up of individual tracks. I'm keen to get around to people playing music together, being that muscle that is a band or ensemble in a studio working with the sound of a room. Recently have been listening to some beautiful sounding records made in the Columbia studios in New York and LA in the 1960s and '70s. There's a purity to the sound of the voices and instruments that is pure medicine, balm for the soul as good music should be. Instagram Facebook

- Rey Returns With Another Hit Single, “GM GN”
Born in the Bronx, Rey produced and wrote all his records, engineering himself as an independent artist. As a one-man army, Rey brings fans from Hip-Hop, R&B, and Latin communities together to provide a fresh conglomeration of vibes for chill and party moods. With a relenting ambition and drive, Rey floods the game with his Latin-rap flavor. "GM GN" gives us chills. You can hear the hunger in Rey's voice when spazzing over this groovy trap production. He says, "It's me," "good morning, goodnight," letting them know he's here from sun-up to sundown, putting in that work, showing up consistently, and grinding. In his well-delivered first verse, he raps about his pain that you can see if you just glimpse into his eyes. Even though he feels this way, he still continues to push himself because he feels he doesn't have anything to lose by chasing his dreams. In his second verse, Rey speaks more in-depth about his painful experiences and how they made his heart so cold. He expresses how honest he is in his lyrics that he'll "tell the truth no matter how bad it could go" and "it's only right to let them know." Rey ends off the track with his addictive hook and relatable lyrics, telling us that they try to put out his flame, but he keeps shining regardless of what's happening around him. Experience the melodic diversity of Rey's sonics, with a vibe-filled discography on full display on "GM GN," streaming everywhere today. Welcome to BuzzMusic Rey. We are thrilled to have you here with us today. We love "GM GN" what was your main source of creativity for this record? Thank you for giving independent artists like myself a platform to showcase our talent. My main source of creativity for "Gm Gn" came from a group chat where my friends talk stuff, and some days all you see is "Gm Gn." We all know the impacts this pandemic has made, and now the winter won't go away, so if it's not to go to the gym or hang out, all you see in the chat some days is, "Gm Gn," lol. In terms of the message you deliver, what would you like your supporters to take away from it? The message conveyed between the lines of "Gm Gn" is that we have to be strong in the midst of adversity. Not only showing strength but consistency, to be able to thrive and take ownership of whatever obstacle in our path. Growing up in the Bronx, what were some challenges you faced, and what kept you motivated through those certain challenges? Growing up in the Bronx was hard enough. I was lucky because I took advantage of the resources available to me. Going to school and working full time, the challenge has mostly been time management and catching up on my sleep. I do everything myself as far as music recording, so I have to do my best when it comes to self-care. You know, going to the gym, shutting down early, or just binge-watching on Netflix and spending time with the family to stay inspired. As an artist, you spend a long time perfecting your craft. What are some tips you could give the next generation to keep them motivated and grounded in their craft? Your spirit is your strongest weapon. There's a scripture in the Bible that says, "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak" I think we are here to serve and in order to nurture that spirit and keep it alive and well is by count your blessings. I love watching Daystar, TBN, The Word Network, and Christian television because that's the only place you hear words like—faithfulness, thankfulness, gratefulness, blessings, anointed, and forgiving—that is a form of wealth and prosperity on its own, so don't undermine your spirit form, that's what I would say. Find the roses. What's next for you? R-E-Y.com is growing. YouTube is also growing. Spotify, SoundCloud—everything is going great. I'm getting my Masters in Social Work in May, so I'm super excited about that. Instagram Facebook
- Get Your Dose Of Mainza's, "Pills N Candy"
Raised in Massachusetts, 19-year-old Mainza Kasapo, professionally known as Mainza, is a growing spectacle of her own. Her journey began at 12, with her first professional recording being at 17. Now she can be heard bringing in past and future elements to create a bright sound like no other. With the help of the producer and her elder brother, Kennedy Kasapo, Mainza is a self-proclaimed generation's voice through her music and themes on internal adversities as she empowers herself and others to overcome them. "Pills N Candy" is the latest single to come from Mainza, and let us tell you - this track sparks up an immense amount of nostalgia. Taking the sonic path wave of an 80s inspired synth-wave meets electro-pop euphoria, we're obsessed with the groovy rhythm that gleams through our speakers. Closely listening to the mix, Mainza's sizzling timbres are one with the effervescent instrumentation as her vocalization soars across this glittery soundscape. Portraying a smooth and intimate display of lyrical motifs, "Pills N Candy" has us grasping onto rhythmic motifs such as, 'Pills N Candy can't give satisfaction as I do too as I do to you.' Everything about this track has us swimming in an atmospheric realm that seems too good to be true. The dreamy quintessence of this record fits into its theme in such a transparent way that you know this is a match made in heaven. Gracefully bringing a blissful composition on love and addictions to fruition, Mainza has us eating out of the palm of her hand. Take a plunge in Mainza's bubbly pop world as "Pills N Candy" has you living vicariously through the creatively focused superstar. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Mainza, and congratulations on the release of your latest single, "Pills N Candy." Touching on vices and the sweeter things in life, what moment or story brought this concept to life? It sparked from a small conversation my brother and I had one night. He built the melody through piano cords, I came up with the hook right there, and "Pills N Candy" was born that night. Does your sound tend to take this thoughtful approach? What played into the deciding factor when choosing the direction for "Pills N Candy?" I am a lyricist, but I hardly ever think about what I'm writing until after it's done, and I'm like, "Oh shoot, that makes sense," or "that sounds cool" lol. That's how it was with Pills N Candy. It wasn't until after the song was done that I saw the many messages people could take from it. With music, I'm just chasing a feeling, it could be happy, sad, etc., but I won't hold back when expressing that feeling. At only 19, you speak on some mature subjects. Have you always been received as mature for your age when growing up? Do you find this helps your songwriting? Yeah, I like to be very conscious and aware of the world around me and the many realities people face. That's definitely been my biggest aid when creating music. What does "Pills N Candy" mean to you in your own words? "Pills N Candy" to me, means and represents all the not-so-great things that one could find satisfaction doing. Things that could potentially drive a wedge between people in relationships, any kind of relationship. It doesn't just have to be drugs, as one would assume based on the word choice. It really can be anything. What's next for you? I am currently working on my debut project, one that I'm really having fun creating and playing with different sounds, tapping into different genres. I can't wait for the world to hear it! Instagram Artist Website
- Hear The Soothing Sounds Of Gigi Santos As She Slows The Tempo
Gigi Santos is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter based in NYC. Being influenced by the R&B, jazz, Latin, and classical styles she grew up listening to, Gigi Santos describes her sound as "sensual, yet appealingly melancholy," best fitting into the Alternative R&B genre. Gigi can stack intricate vocal harmonies over a textured production with a background in choir and music composition, bringing dreamy nuances to her music. As reflected in her music, the artist's heavy use of imagery allows the listener to enjoy a vivid experience. Gigi Santos claims, "If you weren't able to escape your current reality and feel the emotions being conveyed, then I haven't done my job." Drowning us in her infectious R&B ballads, Gigi Santos immerses us in the captivating essence of "Take It Slow." The sparsity in the instrumentation leaves us wanting more right after the first note touches down. Her croons' easy flowing and smooth conveyance take our minds to an atmosphere fuelled by love and lust as she gracefully reiterates intimate lyrical motifs. "Take It Slow" has us longing for the vocal range of Gigi Santos as she powerfully emits her carefully crafted wording. "You know what I'm thinking; you always do. Even though you say that I'm a mystery to you" is a prime example of how the lyrics truly matter and make up the ultimate scope for our headspace to travel to. Nostalgia is making waves in today's contemporary R&B, and this song falls directly into the 90s and early 2000s category of heartrending tunes. Gigi Santos does an exceptional job at having us feed off her emotions, and it's a skill like that which has us more intrigued by her every move. "Take It Slow" sets Gigi Santos apart as she continues to follow her lane to success. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Gigi Santos, and congratulations on the release of "Take It Slow." You showcase such a delicate yet prevailing sound on this record. What inspired the sonic approach you took to this song? That’s such an interesting way to put it! My sound is generally very intimate, but with this song particularly I wanted to be able to sonically convey the chaos that was going on in my head. I didn’t even know what I was feeling until I started writing everything down, and it gradually went from slight discomfort to extreme frustration - so I tried to mirror that shift in emotion in the production with the help of producer, Mark Neidhardt. Is there a particular story or moment that brought the lyrical content to life for you? This song is based on a specific experience a few years ago when I was getting adjusted to a new city, new job, new people, etc., and I met a guy who wanted to get into a serious relationship. At the time I didn’t really know how to communicate my needs/boundaries, and my thoughts and emotions were just all over the place. So the lyrics are all the things I wish I was able to say. How important is it for you to write from a place of experience? Do you often find your lyrics retelling a story or manifesting the future? I personally don’t think it’s always necessary to write from a place of experience, but it IS necessary to know enough about what you’re talking about in order to relate to your listeners and maintain your credibility. You don’t want to be singing about topics you know nothing about - especially anything controversial or sensitive. I do find that my lyrics retell stories, whether they’re my own or those of others because that’s the best way to take your audience through an experience. Each song is its own short story that should leave listeners feeling differently than they did before hearing it. What has been your proudest accomplishment to date? I don’t necessarily have a specific accomplishment but more so a quality that continues to flourish as I continue my journey as an artist; And that is my ability to bring to life any idea that pops up in my head. When I say I want to do something, I make it happen. Having the determination, discipline, and ambition it takes to execute and deliver my art is what I’m most proud of. I’ve really been challenging myself with not only my creative output but the quality of that creativity. Nowadays consumers are so short attention-spanned that artists have been forced into beating algorithms by dropping single after single, which I think diminishes the quality of the art. And although the artists who are taking the time to produce quality music might not necessarily achieve quick results at first, they will absolutely achieve longevity, and that’s what I’m striving for. What's next for you? Next, I’ll be continuing the story behind “Take It Slow” in my next EP coming out very soon! Instagram Facebook

With this track, SHAYSOVA proves that she's the next ground-breaking DJ to look out for. Welcome to BuzzMusic, SHAYSOVA. We're so pleased to have you with us today. "Drop Like This" is an epic new single, and we love it. What inspired you to create this record, and what was the thought process behind it? What inspired me to create that record was just to push myself and also try to mix up some genres. I had come out with Wonderland, which was released on Revealed's sub-label, Gemstone. I decided I wanted to try a track that was a mix of Electro and Big room. How long did it take to get a record like this to the place you wanted it to be, with mixing and mastering included? Honestly, I have a bad habit of making a track and then sitting on it for a long time. Too long! "Wonderland" sat around for a year before I decided to send it out to labels. "Drop like this" was sitting on my computer for about six months. Now to avoid that, I send my demos and almost done tracks to producer friends of mine and ask which they think is worthy of the finished process. Im too much of a perfectionist/procrastinator, so it helps me choose. It still takes me some time to decide if I feel something is worthy of pitching to labels, but I'm getting better at it. As an experienced DJ and producer, which genre is your favorite to tap into and why? Well, a big room is always a rush and fun to make because it's the high energy, but even I can't always make it through an entire Big Room set without giving my ears a break. It'll always be one of my favorites, but I also really love tech house, classic style EDM, etc. To be honest, I love all genres of music to listen to. My Spotify is insanely diverse...Grimes, NSYNC, Kane Brown, it's a bit weird. Lol. But when it comes to making my own music, I love the high-energy EDM genres and am dabbling in a few different ones. How big of a role did your father play in the success of your career since he's a DJ himself and your mentor? Well, I'm not sure my dad was my mentor, but he DID instill the love of music in me and gave me the musical talent I have. That's a huge impact. To be honest, he never pushed being a DJ on me in any way. He just shared his passion with me. One of my first memories is playing with the dots on the side of a jog wheel on a record player. A red light illuminates these dots, and sometimes when I'd spin it at the right time, certain rows would line up or move. Funny because later, I learned that's how you know the record's change in speed relative to the normal speed or BPM. I definitely got in trouble for that, though, all the time, lol. ANYWAY...I think in his mind, he wanted a better life for me. He wanted me to go to college and have the typical career path. What a lot of people don't know is that DJ'ing used to purely be a passion project for people. Famous or rich DJs were few and far between. Before DJ AM changed the whole game, it wasn't necessarily a very lucrative job. You hauled ALL the equipment that you personally owned. You bought all your own records, speakers, mixers, sarcophaguses, lights, etc., etc., etc. My dad even welded and made his own pieces to make hauling his equipment easier. What you got paid, you'd usually spend on equipment or records. You'd have to carry Crates of heavy records to a club or event. Now the heaviest thing we need is a laptop or, better yet, a USB! He's definitely amazed at how CDJ's work now. One thing he DID stress when I told him I was learning to DJ was to learn by ear first. My teacher had me on records and then moved me to CDJ's but covered the Bpms and waves to further train my ears. Even now, to mix a track in, I sometimes find myself closing my eyes because that's what I did when I couldn't see the waveforms in front of me. Anyway, I digress. My father played a significant role in my love for music and is definitely one of my biggest fans ever! lol What's next for you? Well, right now, I took some time off playing shows to work on music, but now that I've hit a bit of a stride, I'd love to start doing more shows and festivals soon. Instagram Facebook
- Scarlet Parke Dazzles Us With Her New Hit Single, “Scissors”
Scarlet Parke is a star on the rise. Originally from Seattle, Washington, the songwriter, and producer is often described as the perfect blend of two musical powerhouses: Amy Winehouse and Ariana Grande. She has been named as an artist to watch by Refinery 29, Seattle Times, Seattle Refined, Revolt TV, and Voyage LA. She has showcased her talents alongside major artists such as Miguel (Upstream Festival 2017), Lizzo (Capitol Hill Block Party 2019), JP Saxe (Chop Suey 2019), and Bon Entendeur (The Echo 2020). In her most recent creative endeavor, her upcoming EP' DreamGirl,' listeners get to hear a different side of Parke. Parke herself said, "This album changed my life. It's extremely personal and pushed me to dive into places I didn't want to go emotionally. Like many, the pandemic turned my entire life upside down - I lost my relationship, my job, and my stability. I wanted to rebuild my life to be exactly like I wanted, no more settling or excuses. I wanted to become my own "DreamGirl." Scarlet's most recent single, "Scissors," is an exciting look into what we can expect from her EP. Proving to be a master of melodies on "Scissors," with her captivatingly charming voice, Scarlet exceptionally and seamlessly flows gracefully over this bop of a record. Her tone is absolutely dazzling. It's jazzy, poppy, dreamy, and soulful. "Time to cut you off – somebody brings me the scissors!" Scarlet's witty wordplay and relatable lyrics give an edge to the romantic yet rebellious record. With its cinematic melodic elements, catchy and bright production, and Scarlet's undeniably beautiful voice, we have "Scissors" on repeat, giving us the proper energy we need to take on the day. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Scarlet Parke, and congratulations on your new hit single, "Scissors." We adore the bright energy that emanates from this record. Can you please tell us a little bit about the moment that sparked "Scissors" to be created? Yes! Thanks, it's one of my favorite songs of mine. I wrote Scissors right when the pandemic hit, and my partner and I decided to go our separate ways. I ended up having to quarantine with my ex for a few weeks, and it was super uncomfortable. I ended up cutting my hair because of the stress and wrote the song shortly after that. What advice do you have for someone who's in a toxic situation? Who knows they should cut ties with someone or something but can't seem to make that first step? I think the most important step to cutting someone off is letting them know why you're doing it, so there aren't loose ends and reasons for them to talk badly about you (no guarantees that they won't, though)! At the end of the day, your life will remain negative if you hang around negative people, so it's best to cut them out, deal with the pain, and move on to more positive experiences. Our first time hearing "Scissors" reminded us of our first time hearing Estelle on "American Boy." Your style is unbelievably refreshing. Who are some of your major musical influences? Omg, thank you!! That's a huge compliment. I love her! I draw most of my influence from Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald, Adele, Lily Allen, and John Mayer. You mentioned that many pieces in your life had to fall apart in order for "DreamGirl" to come together and be created. Can you tell us a little bit about your musical journey and how your sound and outlook have evolved with this new EP? I've been searching for 'my sound' for years, and it wasn't until 2020 when I was stripped of the ability to collaborate, that I needed to learn how to produce and create the sound I was hearing in my head but could never describe. I produced the opening track on the album Milk and Honey,' and I'm so excited to continue honing my producer skills. The future is looking very dreamy! What's next for you? I'll be releasing a fully self-produced project in a couple of months! I feel like I've arrived and found my confidence. I'm excited to see where this new road takes me. Artist Website Facebook
- Dolo Slendo Artistically Delivers His Take On, “GirlsWannaHaveFun”
Slendo, a rapper, and producer from Chattanooga, Tennessee, started his creative journey in 2018 and has taken music seriously. Slendo has adapted to making music as different as possible with his unique name. Although Slendo has had many inspirations over time, he constantly strives to be better and do better than the previous records he's created. Years of experience have brought us to his latest single, "GirlsWannaHaveFun," one that will take you on a synth drive, with the volume on 100 and a car filled with vibes. Slendo placed everything about this track exactly where it needed to be, from the instrumental to the lyrics and the rap cadences. We hear Slendo forming a future rage genre that is very popular these days, especially when you want to have an epic dance party that you will never forget. As we enter the world of "GirlsWannaHaveFun" we hear a cloud rap instrumental with uptempo rage elements and fiery cadences that we can't help but sing along to. Slendo talks about girls he's met throughout his career and mentions certain situations he's experienced with them. He says things like, "And it's up, I'm just getting started," which tells us he knows what he brings to the table but is still willing to put the work in, especially when it comes to producing and creating hard rhymes. While he continues to talk about things that matter to him, such as the music industry, despite the minimal support he received from others, Slendo has kept moving in the right direction. He sometimes feels that others do not have others' best interests at heart, so he keeps that in mind when meeting new people. Slendo truly grasps what different and unique really is. Most of all, he knows how to keep persevering in a very competitive industry. We look forward to you hearing all about him and his talents that are so expertly portrayed in "GirlsWannaHaveFun." Welcome to BuzzMusic, Slendo. We love your new single, "GirlsWannaHaveFun." What inspired the instrumental, and how long did it take for you to create this masterpiece? I really just wanted to make a record that would go crazy at a party, something that would make people want to get moving and have some fun. Kyleton sent that beat in a pack, and it was perfect. I actually had Covid at the time, so I think that had something to do with it, too lol I was literally stuck in the house. As you grow in your craft, what are some of the things you did differently in "GirlsWannaHaveFun" that you haven't done in your previous releases? I am just trying a different kind of sound really and experimenting with different ways to promote the song. I threw a party actually and used the footage to make a video, which was a smart move because I feel like people are more likely to share something they're a part of. Growing up, when did you realize music was what you wanted to do for the rest of your life? What was your biggest influence? Oh man, I knew I wanted to make music at a really young age, probably like 7 or 8. The College Dropout was my main influence; starting out like that album made me realize I wanted to make music. As an experienced artist with unique records, what words of encouragement will you give to people who look up to you and want to make a mark in the industry with a very different sound than yours? My words of encouragement would be to stay true to you and don't be scared to evolve your sound! Make connections (online and in your city) and just stay focused. This really is a marathon, not a race. What's next for you? More music, more vibes, more visuals, more content, just gonna keep flooding the fanbase. I plan on dropping a project for the summer, so be on the lookout for that! Just gonna keep working and developing and getting better. Instagram Twitter

She quit too, but only because she preferred the ability to sing the songs of artists she loves and writes her original music that speaks to both the joy and pain of relationships and friendships. Now taking her talents to the forefront of listeners' playlists, Indasoul and OnKey Entertainment aid Kaitlyn Albrecht's debut release for "Love and War." The meaningful story of heart-wrenching feelings that hail from a love coming to an end is brought to life when Kaitlyn Albrecht lays down her artistic talents on a danceable canvas. In the fascinating filmic component that Kaitlyn Albrecht stars in, we're exposed to a nostalgic diner setting as her former love interest comes to eat at her place of work with another girl who Kaitlyn Albrecht seems to know nothing about. On a mission to stand her ground, Kaitlyn Albrecht is backed up by her army of girlfriends/co-workers as she lets him know she is not to be played with. Decked head to toe in old-school waitress attire, the confrontation throughout the visuals has us hanging onto our seat's edge. Sabotage comes into full swing as Kaitlyn Albrecht, and her girls ruin this date just enough for the two to officially leave. This music video is an attention grabber using witty metaphors in b-role scenes pertaining to Kaitlyn Albrecht and her ex declaring war on each other. Kaitlyn Albrecht's bubbly pop sound spits truth and maturity as this debut release puts her in the spotlight and leaves us fixated on every moment of this masterpiece. Instagram
- Kate Cosentino Pops the Question in, “Emergency Contact”
Kate Cosentino is a woman of subtle nuances and many dad jokes. She encompasses wit and sass while balancing the profound ability to speak on behalf of the struggles of others for the mere proposition of opening up the conversation. Born and raised in Kansas City, Cosentino has always had an affinity for strong storytellers and jazzy hooks. Influenced by powerhouse women like Regina Spektor, Norah Jones, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, and many more, Cosentino has found that the best voices are authentic ones. Taking this mindset into the buoyantly professed anthem, her latest single, "Emergency Contact," Kate Cosentino emits vibrant, irresistible energy. Her charisma is infectious as she professes her lush timbres to immerse her audience. "Emergency Contact" taps into a narrative about the anxiety-inducing feeling of wanting to ask your partner to be with you forever but opting for the safer route and just asking for them to be your emergency contact instead. Being the perfect soundscape to give you the courage to pop the backup question, we encourage you to bask in all that's Kate Cosentino's latest single. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Kate Cosentino. We honestly can't get enough of your beautiful single, "Emergency Contact." Is there a particular story that inspired the witty and well-thought-out lyrics heard on this record? Thank you so much! The story behind Emergency Contact begins with my quite literally driving to my boyfriend's apartment after hearing his childhood dog had died. As I was rushing over there, I realized how seriously I felt about him and thought to myself, "wouldn't that be a ridiculous start to a song - speeding for someone you love and realizing how deep your feelings were." Then that got mashed with lyrics about how non-committal and afraid my generation /Millenials and gen z can be in relationships! Could you please share a glimpse into the creative process when bringing this song to life? After listening to a lot of Lawrence, I was inspired to write a song that was witty, funny, and filled with fun horns. So I sat down with the intention of writing a Lawrence-inspired song. I immediately thought "Will you be my emergency contact baby? Will you slide in my doctor's DMS?" A song makes fun of the weird ways we swerve around saying what we mean in relationships. The first verse and chorus came out fast and turned into a fun song snippet I posted on Tiktok. My friend Troy dug the sound, so I recruited him to help me with the song's second half. It was such a fun co-write to bring, especially the life alert joke at the end. What inspires your humorous nature and overall unique approach to your craft? I'm just SO funny I can't help it. (Joking. Kind of). I've always enjoyed using humor as a way to connect with an audience. It lightens the room and sets a fun tone. Songs like Emergency Contact capture a room in a different way than my more serious songs, but they all have the same wit that either makes you laugh or makes you think! I grew up in the Youtuber generation of humor, and I think that influenced my music as much as the music I listen to. Artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham feel like my nerdy peers - big brains, big hearts, big personalities! What would you like it to be if your audience could take away a specific message from this song? I hope you can laugh at how ridiculous we can be when we're scared to say how we feel. I hope this song encourages you to say it! Tell that person you love them! Ask them if they want to be your boyfriend! Tell them you can't stand going to that restaurant they bring you to every Wednesday! Be brave. What's next for you? My EP comes out on May 20th! I'll have an EP release show at Diskin Cider on the 20th at 7 pm - open to the public. I also have two more singles from the EP coming out leading up to the full release. My next single, "I Don't Know Where it Went Wrong," comes out on April 8th. Then hopefully, a tour this summer/fall! Instagram Facebook
