- GIANT CATS! Talks to Us About New Single "Starling" and What Inspired It
Welcome to BuzzMusic GIANT CATS! Can you tell us about the formation of your artistry? How did you develop your genre-bending sound and what was your main influence on this? I want to infuse Jazz, Punk, and Rock all in one. I guess you can say I am kinda all over the place and it really depends on what is inspiring me at the moment while writing. My main influences are Inner Wave, Triathalon, Jurassic Shark, and The Buttertones. Knowing you aim to create a relaxed environment with your music, what was the environment you created for yourself when creating “Starling”? How would you describe the vibe you set for this song? "Starling" is an emotional song and hopefully, people who listen to it get the same feeling. While I was writing it, I wanted to put some spacey vibes musically & lyrically in it. It is a mid-paced melodic song that should hit your heartstrings! What was your songwriting approach towards “Starling”? What was the main inspiration you gathered for this single and did you find any challenges during the production of it? This was one of those songs that came really quickly to me! Sometimes it takes me months to write a song, but "Starling" took me a couple of hours to finish it musically, then the lyrics came last. I think my main inspiration were the stars in the sky. They do not last forever but they burn so brightly, just like some relationships and people you meet in your lifetime. How do you manage to fuse together the different genres you’re skilled in? What would you consider to be the key element of “Starling” that represents these unique styles of your artistry? It can sometimes be a challenge to slow things down when I am writing a song. On that note, there will be more chill jazzy songs to come! I am not sure how "Unique" my style is yet or even if I have found "my sound", that will be determined by the people who listen to it. What can we expect to see next from you throughout 2020? Hopefully, I can finish an album by the end of this year, if not the beginning of 2021! Expect lots of live performances in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and where ever the wind takes me in 2020! Listen to "Starling" here. Instagram.com/giantcatsforever #BuzzMusic
- Team Player Sarah Christine Moves Mountains With Her Latest Single “Aspen”
Singer/songwriter Sarah Christine is back, and her passion for writing, looping, and composing is stronger than ever. With influences from pop, indie, folk and electronic, Sarah’s sound perfectly exemplifies unique compositions without getting lost in the mix. With Minneapolis roots, Sarah spread her wings and fled to Colorado where she now resides and takes inspiration for new music. Her hashtag ‘#InItTogether’, derives from her desire to work incredibly hard alongside her support system, staying as humble as possible for the sole reason being that she is forever grateful for all the help she’s received on her journey. Not just from her team, but from her fans as well. “Aspen” opens with a peaceful piano intro, and jumps into a cheerful rhythmic pop beat ready for a drive through the mountains. Her unique vocal styling perfectly delivers her thoughtful and loving lyrics. The song also displays stunning imagery, as she sings about passion and perseverance while being surrounded by the beauty of the mountains. Throughout the song's transitions, Sarah’s background vocals bring a well-rounded structure that enhances her modest messages, all while the gentle instrumentation flawlessly complements her wholehearted approach to songwriting and lyricism. A perfect song to add to your road trip playlist. You can stream the song here. Welcome to BuzzMusic, Sarah Christine! It’s a pleasure to speak with a humble yet hardworking artist such as yourself. Besides being in Aspen, where did you draw inspiration from for your single “Aspen"? Thank you! It’s always a pleasure interviewing with you all at BuzzMusic! I drew inspiration for Aspen from meeting my girlfriend Heather Hendricks. We met in Denver, and on a mission to show me the ways of the beautiful community of her current home town, Aspen, Colorado, we ventured on many road trips and activities through the town. It’s basically a song about how we met, how we came together, and how we explored a city we both now love dearly with one another. Your entire brand represents teamwork and perseverance, which is very inspiring to younger artists trying to carve their own paths. Have you always attained the “We” mentality versus the “Me” mentality? What do you think helped keep you so down to earth? Yes, I think it’s really important. Music is hard. Really hard. But, I’ve always found that when we support each other and show up for one another and work as a team, it makes the path a lot more manageable. My theme is #inittogether . I’m so proud of especially a show we put together on May 8 in Portland, OR which is my “Pay It Forward” event to help support the community and build relationships with people in that city. Basically we wanted to show our togetherness by putting on a show, on me (FREE) at Tendue. Tickets are on Eventbrite for you to reserve a spot there if you’re interested in hanging out, May 8! You’ve mentioned that your sound is a unique blend of pop, indie, folk and electronic. Would you ever experiment with other sounds, or do you think you’ve found what fits best for your messages? Yes of course! I’m always looking to evolve and add to my portfolio of sounds and different ideas as to how to continue to grow in music. I have 7 new singles coming out in 2020 thus far, and I am happy to report we experimented with new sounds and varieties. I hope you love them all! If you have any suggestions or ideas for new things for us to try, feel free to email me at contact@sarahchristinempls.com or DM me on Instagram @sarahchristinemplsmusic – we always will respond! We’ve heard that you were recently acknowledged as one of the most anticipated up and coming singer/songwriters with a tour reveal, congratulations! Could you speak a little more about your upcoming shows/tour? Yes, of course! My solo 2020 tour kicks off March 5 in Boulder, CO. We named the tour #TheLetGoTour as so many of us to have a fear of letting go, or putting ourselves out there, or experimenting with the unknown, my hope was to be a vision for people that you can do this if you’re willing to put in the work and try, and fail, and make a million mistakes, but that ultimately you are in control, and we can do this TOGETHER! We will be hitting the west coast leg through May and then hitting the Midwest starting in June! A list of my shows can be found on my website at www.sarahchristinempls.com or on the link in my Instagram bio! You can always email us as well to check in on tickets! What can we expect to see from Sarah Christine throughout 2020? You can expect our team to be an example of letting go, hitting the road, and putting out hopefully so many amazing positive vibes for everyone through my music. I can’t thank you enough for the support! Oh – did we also tell you that we are trying out #vanlife?! So stoked to be working with The Van Speed Shop and The Van Mart on the custom tour van. Most of our tickets include a VIP level ticket to check out the van after the show including an after-party. Fun stuff! See you on the road! instagram.com/sarahchristinemplsmusic sarahchristinempls.com #BuzzMusic

- Lose Yourself in the Creamy Vocal Performance J. Jamal Has to Offer With "Friday Night"
The kind of style that R&B/Soul artist J. Jamal encases within his music is very alluring. We're attracted to the smooth design J. Jamal uses in order to add a sultry component to his music, and it's probably this exact component that completely lures us in as listeners. If it isn't his collectively suave persona, it would probably be due to the eclectic take J. Jamal undergoes with his sound. His music isn't your typical R&B or soul performance, as it's much more diverse, incorporating a multitude of genre elements in order to give that varied tune. J. Jamal's unbreakable faith is one aspect that is completely observable through his music, and the strong passion of his is what we believe raises his artistry up and allows him to vibrantly shine as an artist. One of his most recent glowing tracks, "Friday Night", debuted not too long ago, and it was this specific track that allowed our knowledge of J. Jamal's and his artistry to flourish. J. Jamal sets up a warm and inviting environment right from the beginning of "Friday Night" via enriching acoustic sounds. He quickly integrates his vocal sound into the melody, which creates a methodical and blissful atmosphere. The entirety of the track stays consistent with keeping the calming beat, a beat that is incredibly pivotal to the feeling "Friday Night" captures. There's almost a magical component to the production of J. Jamal's song, where we feel lost within the flowing vibration of J. Jamal's voice. We love the themes that J. Jamal chooses to explore with his music, in which he often takes listeners on a thoughtful journey with lots to process and vividly imagine. In essence, J. Jamal's "Friday Night" was filled with luscious tones and inspirational soundings that constructed the vibrancy the track held. We're hoping for more of J. Jamal's eloquent stylings in the near future. Welcome, J. Jamal! We're excited to chat about your recent single release, "Friday Night". Where do you stand with this particular track?! Do you feel that the track incorporated each and every element you envisioned it would? I love it. It’s part of my best work yet. This song, in particular, allowed me to show some maturity not only as an artist but as a man really. Can you dive deeper with our readers regarding the prevalent message communicated within "Friday Night"? Do you typically blend in a specific theme with each song you release, or do you prefer to focus on the soundings of the track, rather than its overall message? Friday Night is just part of the story, but it’s got a story of its own. It’s the story of a man in love, but that love isn’t necessarily returned, a position I know a little too well. But on the weekends, he gets to be everything to the woman he loves. So, even just having that piece of her is better than none. The message here is don’t lose yourself in anyone, especially not someone that is only there for you part-time. You've always been an artist that remained strong with your faith and using that faith to grow both personally and artistically. Are you able to describe how it is you feel connected to music via faith, and how your faith propels you as an artist? My faith allows me to stay focused, and committed, without compromising. I know where music is today, and my music is a huge departure from that, on most counts. But my faith keeps me from caring about that and keeps me from changing the plan, the message, or the method. It's been mentioned that you're planning on constructing more tracks in the near future. Now that "Friday Night" has been released, where do you think you want to extend your career from here? Friday Night is an integral part of the project it was released on, Love Letter II: Raw, and an even more integral part of that series going forward, and my career as a whole, moving forward. Friday Night was the swing song, it was where EVERYTHING changed. You see that in the following track, Dream Turned Nightmare, but it’ll be even more clear in the next installment of my Love Letter series. As far as extending my career, I always think about that. In May, I’ll be launching my own publishing and distribution company, to help others tell their stories as well. But as far as what’s next... What will you be working on next J. Jamal? Next, I change the game all over again. My next project will be a complete departure, from this series, from previous projects, from the R&B genre as a whole. My next project will be The Gospel, According to Judas. facebook.com/JustJamalD instagram.com/justjamald jjamalmusic.com/home #BuzzMusic
- Travel Alongside Aruba Red and Her Methodical Stylings With Her New EP "Shadow Work"
Aruba Red is back with her beautifully dramatic work. For those of us who already know Aruba Red and all she's about artistically, you'd know that music has always been an extreme fascination of hers, which is very evident if you listen to her work. Frequent listeners would also know that Aruba Red has suffered through a great deal of trauma, in which she now uses to flourish and influence the very soundings she creates today. Aruba Red's recent EP release of "Shadow Work" delves far into the exact hardships the artist has undergone and especially offering the sense of cleansing one's self and becoming pure. "Shadow Work" undoubtedly felt curative to us as listeners, as it offered an array of perspectives that transformed the way we viewed certain aspects of life. With a ton of inspiration to give, and much more to extract from her sound, Aruba Red manifested "Shadow Work" with the best intentions at hand, and it's now on BuzzMusic to be showcased to the masses. Aruba Red's soulful technique within her R&B style is what allows her music to slowly and naturally glide across your senses with ease. Aruba Red begins off her EP with "Blue", which features that exact silky and smooth vocal performance that characterizes her as an artist. "Blue" offers a sensual and alluring tone from Aruba Red, and it's this exact type of design that allows the song to feel incredibly intimate and personalized. Content-wise, "Blue" brings you through a vivid and expressive journey with Aruba Red--such a journey that you'll have to experience for yourself to methodically understand. The journey with Aruba Red continues with "Release Me", where we can guarantee the chorus will stimulate a variety of your senses. Aruba Red takes "Release Me" to truly showcase her diversified vocal approach to her sound, which is very glossy and delicate in so many ways. Delving further into the actual significance of "Release Me", Aruba Red goes on an emotional exploration with the track, where we're told the essence of a story of one wanting to be released from a strong bond with another. Aruba Red's vocals come off as very soft and warming at some points, and robust and melodramatic at others, which is what primarily makes the track and its overall environment eccentrically dynamic. The softness of Aruba Red remains consistent with "Change", a track that focuses on a very slow and drawn-out execution. Aruba Red gives off an emotionally distinct persona in "Change", and the overall track feels very freeing to us. Again, we're being taken on that storyline of wanting to break free and flourish. Aruba Red consistently shares these explorative perspectives regarding life and growth, which draws us very close to her and her sound. We want to hear what Aruba Red has to say, and that's the root of our desire to listen to her music. "Trust" has this same kind of cooling energy that "Change" had, where we feel emotionally freed from any obligation while listening to the content on this track. Once we arrive at the midway point of "Trust", we find ourselves immersed with the sensuous vocals of Aruba Red, bringing us into an entirely varying atmosphere. "Trust" was probably the most atmospheric track on this EP, where Aruba Red seems to seek out an explosive, yet mellow personality. We arrive at the end of Aruba Red's EP with the final track "Butterfly", where Aruba Red brings back that eclectic production to simulate an eccentric atmosphere. We get a great display of instrumental sounds that offer up a feeling of tranquillity and allow us to feel at peace. We feel that "Butterfly" had curative elements embedded into its production, as the track genuinely makes us feel like we're floating on a meditative cloud. In essence, that's the feeling that Aruba Red's EP "Shadow Work" made us feel. We felt at ease, we felt at peace, and we ultimately felt better connected with ourselves at the end of it. If you require an emotionally changing journey, Aruba Red's "Shadow Work" is the EP for you. You can discover "Shadow Work" by Aruba Red here. Welcome again, Aruba Red! We're happy to have you and your work back here on BuzzMusic! Your EP "Shadow Work" has recently debuted, and it features a collection of soothing and immersive expressions. As you were creating this particular EP, were there any curative effects you wanted it to have on your listeners? Hey, it's so nice to be back, thank you for having me! The motivation behind Shadow Work was to help me explore some really deep-rooted issues that were still affecting my daily experience and to release a lot of pain I was holding on to. I had to delve into those shadows to get to the light. I see the songs as my stepping stones to freedom. I hope that this comes across to the people who listen to the music, I would love for these songs to provide the soundtrack for healing and transformation, letting go of those old patterns that no longer serve us, moving out of victim consciousness and taking responsibility for our own happiness even if we've been through tough times and ultimately accepting ourselves for who we are and understanding that there will always be shadows and there will always be light. Duality is part of our experience and there is always more work to do. We know how incredibly personal "Shadow Work" is for you, and the great deal of vulnerability that went into creating this EP. How did you find it to personally write and record such private emotions and thoughts? Did you find it difficult to rehash a lot of those feelings required to create such an EP? In short, yes! It was really difficult to unearth and really delve into a lot of this pain, specifically the first three songs, but it was necessary. The whole process of Shadow Work was about going back, allowing my body to feel the adrenaline and the pain again and to really acknowledge it, get to know it, express it through these songs and then set it free. For a long time, I was quite scared about certain possible repercussions from being so honest, I was worried about upsetting certain people or causing anger and any backlash. I also considered whether if it was the right thing for my son to put this out there into the world. I meditated on it a lot and came to the conclusion that it is my truth and I have the right to tell my story as long as I am being honest and sincere and if I'm coming from a position of love rather than hate or revenge. These songs aren't about making anyone else look bad, they are not about bitterness, they are about honoring my own personal journey and the transformation it has led me on. These songs are an unpacking of the past so that I can experience the present without all the triggers dragging me back. It's an understatement to say that "Shadow Work" contains your very heart and soul. Can you describe to us how exactly it feels to now have "Shadow Work" on full display for your listeners? What kind of feedback have you been getting thus far? I feel a sense of calm and relief! It feels great to have been able to complete this project and set it free, it's very symbolic for me. The response has been really positive, I think a lot of what I am singing about is very relatable to a lot of people who have been through certain challenges. I make music for ADOAs, for people recovering from narcissistic abuse, for single mamas, for recovering codependents, for people interested in healing intergenerational trauma, people dealing with anxiety, panic attacks, and PTSD, I make music that is soothing and hopeful. My songs act as a campfire for anyone who needs to feel the warmth. I receive messages from people who truly understand what my motivations are and it feels so special to be able to connect with people in this way. That's the power of music. It's quite evident that you experiment with your productional stylings, and offer a varied amount of techniques within your sound. Where do you typically find your inspiration to create such expressive soundings to match the lyrical content of the song? I've never limited myself to set genres or sounds, the genre is truly fluid! I am also fortunate enough to have some incredible people that I work with in terms of production. I co-wrote Shadow Work with my longterm musical brother Renell Shaw as well as having some great producers working on the songs including Marrik Shearer who produced my last EP Holy Waters and Camilo Tirado who produced my EP before that Demos In Disguise. We are really close and I am able to describe the sounds I am hearing in my head and these guys can make those ideas a reality. In terms of inspiration... the soulful folktronica of James Blake, the reverb of Phil Collins, the poeticism of Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), the mysticism of Erykah Badu and the passion of Prince have all been influences on my sound. Now that "Shadow Work" is out and available for listeners, where do you think you'll take yourself artistically from here on out? I'm currently preparing for my debut headline show in London which takes place at St. Pancras Old Church on 11th March. I'm so excited about this, my band is incredible and we're in rehearsals bringing these songs to life! I'm creating mood boards for the music videos for Shadow Work and the visuals for Butterfly will land in April. I'm working on a new theatre show and my new album which I'm in love with! I have also been commissioned to create meditation music for a brilliant new app. Alongside my music, I am a women's circle facilitator and I have my online slow-fashion / lifestyle store arubaredtreasured.com offering gorgeous sustainable items to be treasured. facebook.com/arubared twitter.com/arubared instagram.com/arubaredmusic #BuzzMusic

Sugies Julia has that unique vocal sounding that fits extremely well into a pop environment. Her ultimate goal within the music industry is to synthesize these experiences and soundings for listeners to genuinely relate to, attempting to create that undeniable connection between artist and listener via shared experiences. "A Different Guy" does exactly as such. Sugies Julia's track "A Different Guy" starts off with a fast-paced production, which remains steady throughout the entirety of the track. "A Different Guy" doesn't feel like a heavy track, despite its overall significance in meaning. It goes without saying that Sugies Julia created another relatable pop track that many can listen along to and resonate with. Check out "A Different Guy" by Sugies Julia here. Welcome, Sugies Julia! Let's get right into talking about your recent release, "A Different Guy". Would you say that this particular single stemmed from personal experience, or did you create the track to ultimately connect with listeners regarding a commonly shared experience? I would say that this specific song was written more so about a topic that I am passionate about as opposed to a direct link to my personal life. I know that this particular topic is a situation that, sadly, a lot of people are dealing with, and I think that it’s important for anyone who’s involved in an abusive relationship to know that they deserve better and shouldn’t tolerate anyone’s ongoing disrespect. As an emerging artist, how does it feel to release "A Different Guy"? How has the process of writing and recording felt, and what kind of feedback has the song seen thus far since its release? I had a lot of fun writing “A Different Guy” because I knew that I was conveying an important message in a song that, in and of itself, isn’t too depressing or overwhelming to listen to. This is actually the first song I’ve ever recorded in a “studio” (a room in someone’s house), and it was really exciting. I wasn’t even expecting to record it, but one day my brother, Senseilit from The Collab, was like “Hey, you wanna go to the stu?” and I was like “Sure!”I don’t have a secured fan base thus far, but the people who I know have listened to the song say that they really like it, so that’s a good sign. Also, “A Different Guy” has been put on all music platforms, so that’s really encouraging! Would you say that you prefer to use your music as a platform to communicate integral messages to listeners? I wouldn’t necessarily say that I “prefer” to do that, but I definitely think that more of my songs will have important messages in them. As of right now, my songs are mostly about being in a relationship and the ups and downs that go along with it. Where do you hope to take off artistically now that "A Different Guy" is out for all listeners? I hope that I am able to continue improving my craft as a singer-songwriter. I want to share my music with as many people as possible and I hope that they enjoy it as much as I do. As of now, “A Different Guy” is the only song I have out on all popular streaming platforms under The Collab, but hopefully, I’ll be able to release songs under my own name soon. What can fans anticipate next from you? They can expect more fun pop and R&B songs. I always have lyrics and rhythms popping in my head that I latch onto and create stories with, so more songs are definitely to come. A lot of the songs on my SoundCloud don’t have beats to them yet, but the songs that I’ll be posting soon will have some catchy beats, so I’m excited to release those. instagram.com/sugiesjulia #BuzzMusic
- Jude's New Single "Tears" Is Anything but Sad
Heart-wrenching moments often inspire the most thoughtful stories. In the case of "Tears" by Jude, the artist recants the story of a month in his life when everything began to fall apart. With the odds so seemingly against him, Jude prays to god for peace of mind and amidst his struggle, he finds an uplifting message within the Bible scripture. It reassured him that not only would everything be okay, but it would all work out in his favor. Jude is a hip/hop artist from St. Louis Missouri, that uses his platform to unburden his listeners and spread the gospel and his music is not like anything you’d expect. When "Tears" began to play, we had anticipated the stunning and emotional sounds of an organ playing in a minor key, but what we received was far from the melancholy tune we had presumed. Instead, "Tears" was an upbeat song, laid within an electric-dance beat. The drums slowly built in a crescendo and splashed to reveal the body of an uptempo beat. Jude’s lyrics were not melancholic, but instead told the story of overcoming adversity and becoming who you were meant to be. Sometimes we have to go through it, in order to get to the person and place we were meant to be. Jude’s journey thus far has been a fruitful one, since his debut release On Me, the rapper has gained a sizable following. With the release of his last single "Know Me", the artist reached #1 on the Trend City radio charts and was subsequently adopted into the Trend City hall of fame. With his new single ‘Tears’, Jude hopes to continue spreading messages of hope, faith, and love. This talented rapper is just getting started and we can’t wait to see what he does next. - Dive Into "Deeper Imaginings" With Paul Adams
Hello Paul Adams! Welcome! Congratulations on the release of "Deeper Imaginings". How did you feel with the release of this album, as well as collaborating with artist Elizabeth Geyer in order to create the essence of "Deeper Imaginings"? The process started a few years ago when Elizabeth came to America to record her album THE BRIDGE. We were excited as Bruce Lundvall at Blue Note Records had taken an interest in her. With excitement comes a tiny bit of stress. To reduce we started improvising somewhat exotic meditative pieces for fun. They turned into an album we did together called IMAGININGS. And interestingly enough, it was chosen Best Adult Cont Instrumental album of the year at the Zone Music Awards (A large charting service for a new age, jazz, and instr music). As it was coming together I also thought it would be cool to have some of the best musicians I have met on the internet to contribute. So after Elizabeth and I finished our parts I sent tracks to India to have master bansuri flute player Pravin Godkhindi (who I met on YouTube) play his part. So tracks were composed and then sent all over the world. My friend David Hoffman (Former soloist/arranger for Ray Charles) also contributed. I guess you could call it improvised digital whimsy. I played a hunch it would come together even though the process was unusual and quite free form. On DEEPER IMAGININGS (IMAGININGS follow up), I actually had some of Pravin's tracks leftover from IMAGININGS and used them. I did have to manipulate a few digitally to make them work. I then met Alp Akmaz on Instagram. He's a Turkish Duduk player (He refers to the instrument as a Balaban). I emailed a track called Hope For The Game and he recorded his part in his studio. The project as a whole was a joyous learning experience. Elizabeth is really a jazz musician (Flugelhorn/piano/voice) and she came to appreciate a newer expression of music outside of her usual area. Already have your music being prevalent within listening communities, how do you feel having a large listening base for your methodic and instrumental soundings? With over 106 million streams on Pandora, I am very lucky. Growing a larger audience is a thrill in that one wants to "connect" to others as well as be appreciated for their work. This music genre of New Age / Instrumental doesn't usually grab the huge numbers of other genres. And frankly, the new age has a reputation with a few as being a bit "light". But we really wanted to attempt to make the music content-rich. We wanted to steer away from cliche and maintain a deep sense of artistic validity as well as showing that it can be done without alienating the new-age audience. AND, God knows, in today's world, we could use a bit of nonaggressive music. With the release of "Deeper Imaginings", were you intending on setting a certain environment for your listeners, or do you typically intend to have the music be deciphered in any way possible, completely dependent on the listener? The album is a bit like a journey really. Being that my major in college was "ethnomusicology" (The study of musical cultures of the world) I am also always going to lean toward using exotic instruments in my work. I was also an instrument maker for years having built instruments for members of Stevie Wonders Band, Daryl Hall, and others. So as well as the guitars, I also used an electric sitar I made. Also in the album, you will hear Duduk, Bansuri flute, Harmonium, Native American Flutes, Elizabeth's Flugelhorn and quite an array of exotic percussion I have collected. What are some elements you integrate within your tracks that you wouldn't be able to do without as an instrumental artist? Are there certain staple soundings you incorporate into the music that you believe makes it stand out compared to other instrumental tracks? As an instrumental artist, I have greater access to the expression and choice of instrumentation. I do write lyrically, but these albums allow more sound and color. Of course, that is where having access to all the exotic instruments, AND having the internet to have master musicians from all over the world able to contribute is a thrill. I mean, the internet has it's detractors. I am not convinced that we have the interpersonal and spiritual skills to handle the power of social media. BUT, to be able to connect in this way, to be able to record and distribute music ourselves free from "industry" control is a huge freedom. Having Elizabeth Geyer add her jazz improvisational skills to cuts 9 & 11 is what pushed this project artistically past IMAGININGS. It expanded the artistic horizon so to speak. Stretching further still was including my poetry in those two cuts. We had some concern the new-age audience might not dig it, but the response has been overwhelming. Elizabeth's piano playing was also of huge importance. It was the skeletal structure for much of the album. I also want to mention David Hoffman playing horn on cut 3. His sensitivity, whether it is straight-ahead jazz or a project like this is unmatched. I hope people will find him on Spotify as well as Elizabeth Geyer's solo work there. She's not just a top-notch instrumentalist, but an incredible singer and songwriter. Lastly, I want to mention Gary Green adding a bit of guitar on cut 9. Gary was the guitarist for the UK Band Gentle Giant. They were considered to be the most musically challenging of the progressive rock era of the '60s and '70s. Thanks for chatting with us, Paul! Considering the success "Deeper Imaginings" has already gained, are you planning on releasing more music in the near future for listeners to enjoy and reflect upon? I think we will definitely continue with the Imaginings projects. I love the idea of communicating digitally and creating utilizing the internet. It feels as if I was born at the right time. Having these tools is pretty miraculous. All of us are also involved in other projects. I also consider myself a singer and songwriter, so I'm currently working on recording all the songs that have been sitting in my closet for years. Just guitar and harmonica. Kind of an "Americana" thing. To keep from confusing the audience I will use the name, PD Adams. Elizabeth Geyer already has four solo albums out that are a bit like Joni Mitchell meets Miles Davis. The genius of those albums was what attracted me to her music (Search Spotify, Pandora, etc). She's also working on a new batch of material in Sydney. I hope we can all connect on digital platforms such as Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, Bandcamp, Amazon, etc. It is a magical way to interrelate, and that is fuel for the artistic fire. - How the City of Angels Inspired Noumenah to Create Incredible Music
Hello Noumenah, Thank you for being with us today and welcome to Buzz Music. We love your sound, it is completely unique and inspires curiosity. How long did you explore electronic and classical music before coming up with this perfect symbiosis? Thank you! My preliminary musical exploration and practice initially centered around rock, metal, and other guitar-based music. Towards the end of high school, I started to listen to more progressive rock/metal and started to notice film music more. This sparked an interest in orchestral music and music composition in general. From there I decided to studied music composition at Columbia College Chicago where I was introduced to the forms, conventions, and techniques of this tradition. Melodic and formal development within this type of music was something that I internalized. At the same time, I started to explore other styles of music within the vast genre of electronica. Many of my friends introduced me to a variety of artists (Baths, BT, The Flashbulb, Tim Hecker) who expanded my conception of what types of sounds could be used as structural building blocks in music. My project Noumenah typically displays the timbral novelty of modern electronica while having the formal dynamism typically found in classical music, film music, and progressive rock. Los Angeles is known as the City of Dreams, what about living in this city inspires you to make music? Los Angeles is an interesting place that can really be what you want it to be. Over the years I have realized how easily your subjective disposition can affect your overall perception of the city. If you hold a positive and hopeful inner disposition, LA becomes a very inspiring place to be--the intense competition and talent around you become an impetus for your own work and improvement and the surrounding natural areas become a beautiful respite from said work. Your ability to composite many different genres into something completely different, but still recognizable as music is impressive. When did you decide that you wanted to develop Noumenah? Most of my time in Los Angeles has been spent developing my film composing career and teaching. While I love both, I have also always wanted to create a body of work that represents my own musical vision. I decided that this past year was the time to start creating that body of work and the process really rejuvenated my love for music. Liquescent is subversive in the best ways and leaves us yearning for more. What are your future plans for Noumenah? It's a great question. At the moment I primarily see it as a studio project, but perhaps in the future, there will be performing. I have plans for releasing singles and hopefully an EP and am very curious to see how this project develops. It has been a very intuitive process so far and will serve as a public reservoir of sounds that I find to be powerfully meaningful or simply for sounds that induce a sense of equanimity or even ecstasy.
