- Indie Pop Artist Sofie Zamchick Explores Her Personal Emotions Throughout 2019 Releases!
Sofie Zamchick has a characterizable innocence to her sound. It's amplified throughout every track we've heard from her this year, and especially so in "Look at You". It's fruitful and filled with a vitality that's so addicting to listen to! Sofie Zamchick has always been able to consistently release songs that capture a specific environment for listeners. In "Look at You" it's a heart-broken, yet confident approach. When progressing to tracks like "I'll Give You Away", we receive more of a reminiscent feel, filled with perishing and hardship. Sofie Zamchick is good at imparting such despairing and intense emotions into her listeners with the stories she's wanting to communicate. "electric Palms" is more of a tropical production, featuring soundings from the xylophone which shapes the overall foundational sound of the song. "electric Palms" is more of an intriguing song, especially regarding the embedded lyricism on Sofie Zamchick's end. Most of Sofie's songs are incredibly interesting from a lyrical standpoint. Taking the time to look past the catchy melody, we listen to the lyrics and feel the perspective of Sofie Zamchick. She walks listeners through her most frustrating emotions, which allows for that pivotal connection between artist and listener. Overall, Sofie's 2019 was filled with tracks that highlight her distinctive sound, un-diverging of that intricate sounding. Listen to Sofie Zamchick's here and catch her performing at Rockwood Music Hall on January 3rd! Get your tickets here! Welcome, Sofie Zamchick! We appreciate the time. Let's get right into your 2019 sound, and how you felt about the way your tracks executed! Were you happy with the way your vision displayed itself throughout the year? Yes! 2019 has been magical. My first single "electric palms" struck a chord with NPR and I was invited to open for Quinn Christopherson on the Tiny Desk "On the Road" tour in Brooklyn. I was described as a "ferocious bluebird" by WFUV, which felt pretty fitting :) But there was one moment in particular that meant more to me than any positive feedback or opportunity. When my EP "until we meet" was released at midnight on August 9th, I listened to it straight through and got crazy emotional. Not out of relief or pride, but because of the story itself. All the moments that inspired each song - they were crystal clear and I felt all the feelings that led me to write the songs in the first place. That's when I knew I had succeeded in my vision. We grew such a liking to "electric palms". Where did the emotion come from in order to stem the lyricism that made up the track? Thanks so much! I wrote "electric palms" the year after I graduated from NYU, when I was very much living in a liminal, in-between space. Subletting a friend's small room in Williamsburg for two months, all I had was one suitcase and her keyboard. When I realized the keyboard had a marimba setting, I held out just four fingers in a "rock on" hand gesture (as makeshift mallets). I quickly came up with that opening marimba hook, which brought me back to the winter of 2014, when I danced with someone I loved for the first time. The song was R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)" and we were both super awkward with this kind of intimacy, but also desperately wanting to go there with one another. The lyrics of the verses describe that moment. The chorus goes back to the spark of the first time we held hands and quite literally went "running through the city." The lyricism came easily when I returned to those memories and remembered the calmness and omnipresence that drew me to my partner. As a singer/songwriter based in New York, how do you feel the music scene there aids in the cultivation of your exclusive sound? I love that music is so deeply stitched into the fabric of NYC - on the streets, subway, in clubs, on Broadway. I've pulled all-nighters singing with friends out and about, sang a cappella in Washington Square Park, and played at many local venues. Hints of New York creep into my songs: holding hands in Bedstuy in "electric palms," cruising down Avenue B in "wake me up," and rooftop dates by Tompkin's Square in "Man on the Moon" (an unreleased song). Once the release of your debut EP "until we meet" hit, how did you feel your sound was communicated to listeners? What was the response you received from the release? Lloyd and I worked hard to keep the VibeKAT sound at the heart of the recordings. The key was never to lose the playful honesty and simplicity that marimba/vibraphone provides as a complement to my voice. I write the music and lyrics simultaneously, and keeping that relationship intact is central to my sound. The response to the release has been thrilling. The EP got some initial play on WFUV and a steady climb of downloads. Next step is to leverage the songs with industry people, keep playing live shows, and, of course, let new music drop. My next single “Chemistry,” a fun, romantic bop is up next! Let's talk about "wake me up"! Where did you manifest the energy needed for this particular track during recording?! I wrote "wake me up" in one night, faster than most songs I've written. I think it flew out because it was a song I needed to write in order to heal from a past relationship. Bringing it to my producer Lloyd Kikoler was exciting - The verses have an ethereal quality with lots of empty space, while the choruses are gritty, messy, and a bit chaotic. Lloyd and I searched for the right textures, sounds, and filters to bring these juxtaposed sections to life. Recording vocals is probably my favorite thing to do, and once all the sounds felt right, the energy just erupted. Thanks, Sofie for talking with us about your 2019 sound! Can listeners expect any sound changes within the year to come? The six songs I've released so far are just scratching the surface of my sound, because I have about 50 other finished songs I'm ready (and dying) to record. I'm opening the year with a performance at one of my favorite NYC venues, Rockwood Music Hall, on January 3rd with three new songs in my set. These songs came from a burst of end-of-year creativity, all started sometime within the last three years but completed in the same day. I just worked out the arrangements for my band, and at our first rehearsal, my bandmates picked up on a new energy in the songs and ran with it. My goal is to keep surprising myself, maintaining what's core and exploring new ground. instagram.com/sofiezamchick #BuzzMusic
- Fall in Love With the Authentic Folk Soundings From Meghan Pulles
We really came to the love the folksy, homey feel that Meghan Pulles is always able to capture within her sound. New York-based, Meghan Pulles has learned of the therapeutic elements of the music and became passionate ever since to relay such a therapy. Artistically, she's always been rooted in creating music that would help others. "Keep the Light On" was her 2019 EP that really showcased those mellow, soft and yet vibrant vocals she possesses. As an artist who brings in light indie elements, combined with a sense of her theatre background, we receive a sound that can't possibly adhere to one specific genre. Meghan Pulles has always used her experience to her advantage and created these operatic and theatrical songs, which always hold a multitude of emotions. Starting off her EP, "Shelter in the Storm" persists with a delicate flow, and is predominantly highlighting Indie/Pop productions. We migrate on to tracks like "Keep the Light On", and it's more forceful than the previous. Meghan Pulles adds a bit more vigor to the sounding, which breaks you out of that serene atmosphere, and pulls you into more of a thought-provoking one. By the time we neared the end of Meghan's EP, the last track "Light After Loss" brought us back into that somber and reflective embrace. After the EP, Meghan Pulles ended off her 2019 with her Christmas release "Three Christmases". We listened to her track throughout the holidays and found it so incredibly fitting with the type of mood we wanted with our guests! Meghan Pulles definitely keeps her melody and overall sound consistent with listeners, and so we know we can expect that same characterizable softness and honesty from Meghan in the New Year! Listen to Meghan Pulles and her music here. Hey again, Meghan Pulles! It's a treat to have you back so soon at BuzzMusic! Wrapping up your 2019, are there any final goals you're setting for your artistry in the New Year? Hi guys, thanks again for having me. I do have some goals that I have set: I would like to continue to play more live shows at least once a month, and I have some new projects in the works including an album and an EP or two that I have brewing in the pot. Just continuing to write and release impactful music. Looking back at what 2019 saw from you, your EP "Keep the Light On" featured a more soothing and ripened sounding from you. Did you enjoy the curative process of the EP?! Did you get the response you were looking for from your listening base? Thank you so much! I am so happy at how well received my EP was this year, it truly blew me away. I loved curating the EP and bringing some ideas to the whole release process and making it very personal. I definitely feel very privileged to have so many people listening to my songs, and it definitely blew my expectations out of the water. Everyone is receiving it with so much love and light which is all I could ask for. "Keep the Light On" is a 4-track EP, each track making us feel similarly calm. Was there a predominant theme integrated within this EP? This EP was primarily written to inspire and uplift, but also to share my personal story about where I am at with my life. Like most people, I have had a lot of darkness and trauma in my life, but music has really helped me get out of those dark places, and honestly has saved my life and given me that purpose I have on this earth. I wanted to share that message with the listener that no matter what happens to them, or how dark life gets, there is always a light inside of them that will overcome that darkness and make them stronger whether they are going through grief, trauma, anxiety or depression. What do you hope to instill within your listeners when they listen to work such as "Keep the Light On"? I hope that my listener feels lifted up, and that they can get through whatever trial or tribulation life is throwing their way, and they can put my music on and feel a sense of peace and healing within themselves. Knowing that you're an artist who emphasizes the healing aspect of music, do you try and incorporate sounds known to aid in the healing process within your own music? This is definitely something that I feel like I want to explore in the next music that I release, I have been reading up on sound healing and the musical benefits of it and I would love to incorporate some of those sounds into my next projects if they can fit for sure. I just want to thank everyone for listening to my music this year. I never thought that I would have such amazing releases like this and it has just been a dream. I plan on releasing a lot more music in 2020 that I am super excited about, and this year was the gateway to doing that so thank you all! - NTHN's 2019 Year: An Overview of the UK-singer's Versatile Sound!
NTHN's sound has evolved throughout 2019. The UK-based singer/songwriter and producer combines a surplus of inspiration from everyday life in order to create the very stories and soundings we receive from him today. NTHN has always created music to connect to his vulnerabilities and emulate that to his listeners. When we saw the releases of his EP "Tides", we felt like we were in for a real imaginative treat with NTHN. He begins off his 2019 EP release with "Sirens", an instrumental track that begins off with a melancholic tuning, but swiftly blends into a melodramatic production with a deep and echoing ambiance. Eventually, we're entirely captivated by the ethereal synths and genuine embrace the song takes on. As we migrate further into the instrumental world of NTHN, we come across tracks like "Adrift", which features the vocal harmonies of NTHN, as he uses his instrumental collection with his contemporary take on the Hip/Hop category. "Adrift" is a laidback, chill kind of environment that many can resonate with. Some singles 2019 saw from NTHN were "Remember" and "Stay a While". The two tracks highlight elements that we don't see in the other tracks from NTHN, similar to his EP. That's an element to NTHN that we've really come to appreciate--his ability to lay out tracks that each encompasses a varying atmosphere and striving to connect with listeners in different ways. As we near the end of our brief overlook NTHN's 2019, we come to speak on our favourite track he released this year: "Emersion". The track has such similar soundings to the likes of Twenty One Pilots, with that quick and spoken-word vocalism that's ever so prominent in the alternative world of music today. NTHN's music is undoubtedly an experience to undergo as any listener. He offers up the most versatile tracklist we've seen from any artist this 2019. We're genuinely looking forward to what we hear next from NTHN, as his sound will always carry a special place in our music-loving hearts. Give a listen to NTHN's 2019 soundings here! Hey there, NTHN! Welcome, and congratulations on a successful 2019 regarding your music releases! This past year saw a ton of releases from you. Which ones resonated with you the most?! Hey! Thank you very much, it's definitely been a good year for me. I feel like I'm finally finding my sound now, which is reassuring. I think my Tides EP was a huge step, as it's the most personal project I've made to date. It was the start of me addressing things that I've always wanted to share but never had the confidence to do so, and it also my first project with vocals, so it's really special to me. We know that through your music you've always wanted to encapture integral messages in order to relay them to your listeners. What would you say was the predominant theme and/or message of your EP "Tides" that 2019 saw? Tides was definitely about getting a message out to whoever I could reach with it - both for myself and for the listener. The whole EP was about dealing with depression and struggling with mental health but I used the seaside town I was living in at the time as a vehicle to do so. It all started with 'The Forecast Warned of a Storm' when I realised there were parallels between my environment and how I was feeling, so I decided to play on that and work it into a concept EP. I tried to be as honest as possible and, for the first time, openly discuss how I was feeling. My aim was to encourage communication and, by showing all of my vulnerability, hopefully encourage others to do the same. Another angle I wanted to take was to set an example and encourage groups who would be not used to communicating how they feel, particularly men suffering with their mental health. Vulnerability and fragility aren't really considered 'masculine' traits and it's very easy to get into the habit of hiding emotion and just getting on with things but there's only so long you can do that before it'll get the better of you. Music is a brilliant way to break out of these conventions and show that it's not weak to do so; IDLES are a band that has had a huge impact by doing this, even building a strong community of listeners through their AF Gang who are not afraid to speak out and support one another. I love the idea of reaching people in a similar situation who feel the same and providing at least some reassurance that we're all just doing our best and it's okay to struggle at times. I guess that's what I try to do in my music - just be as honest and genuine as possible and hopefully reach listeners who need to hear that. You have such a natural touch when it comes to creating your sound. Where have you learned to curate your music in the way you do today? Wow, that's a huge compliment - thanks! To be honest, I'm completely self-taught when it comes to production so I'm sure I have a tonne of bad habits and examples of poor practice in how I make music haha. It all just came through a lot of trial and error, resorting to the odd tutorial video when I was a bit lost. I started guitar lessons when I was 6 so I have quite an ear for music but it was never with sheet music or much theory, just a love for playing. That's probably where my more experimental side comes in, since I don't always know the correct ways to do things, I just know how I want them to sound and roughly how to get there! One of our favourite tracks from you, 'Emersion", was replayed on our playlists countless times! Can you delve more into the track and how the production was sparked? 'Emersion' is just a complete stream of consciousness and came together very quickly - it's a really honest and raw one. I just wanted to get out everything I was feeling at the time and wrote it in one night. It started as a simple guitar track when I wrote it, which can be heard resampled at the start before all the atmospheric production begins. That's how some of my tracks start when I need to get an idea down, as it's the most natural way of making music for me on an instrument I'm comfortable with. Then I just started to write. The track is about the habits I get into when I feel low and my dependence on finding distractions to get out of my own head, despite the fact that these distractions (such as technology and social media) are really not helpful when you feel like that. It references the black mirror effect and how I find myself refreshing the same information and following the same stories just to avoid the timeout and black screen, as it forces me to reflect on myself. The idea of re-reading the posts and watching the same stories on social media despite knowing how they end is also a reflection of how these low periods are cyclical and I've been through this before, yet I still don't quite manage to convince myself that it's fine and I'll get over it soon enough. By the end of the track, there's a step towards this and the understanding that it's okay not to always be in control, so it's not completely negative and I don't see it as a sad song at all. It was the first time I had ever been so honest and confronted my emotions and that's where the title 'Emersion' comes from - this was me finally getting my head above water. Are you one to plan certain goals for yourself through the New Year?! What do you hope to accomplish and/or what goals have you set for yourself artistically for 2020? I do like to have goals but I don't always put a time limit on them... that's probably something I should start doing. However, I want to continue to increase my confidence in recording vocals and try to get myself out there a little more. I love making music but at the moment it's very much a hobby rather than a career, so it would be great to take it a step further and try to get heard a little more. I'd also love to find more artists to work with, as I love collaborating and mixing different musical influences and styles. I'm planning to release at least a couple of solo projects and maybe some collaborative ones if I can get organized! Thanks, NTHN for coming on BuzzMusic to talk about your 2019! We're highly anticipating new work from you in 2020. Are there currently any tracks in the mix, or perhaps any live shows coming up over the next few months?! Well, I've finally finished the album I've been working on for the past year called 'Delta' and that will be released in Spring 2020, so that's very exciting for me! It's even more honest than Tides was and I've not held back at all, both in the writing and the production. There will be a couple of singles that I'll bring out for that before the album and I have tonnes of unreleased tracks which may make their way into some EPs too, so I'm going to be putting plenty of new material out! As for performing, I haven't started yet as I've been building my confidence up and getting a library of tracks together but I've been thinking about it for quite a while and I think I need to give it a go... It's a bit daunting but I'm excited to try it! Maybe that could be one of my goals for the year. instagram.com/producedbynthn soundcloud.com/producedbynthn producedbynthn.co.uk #BuzzMusic
- Ciggpapi Brings the Energy With New Release "Papi"
If you don't know Boston artist Ciggpapi, then you're in for a rejuvenating experience! He predominantly focuses his artistic outflow within the Hip/Hop and Rap music community but adds in details that heighten the basic Hip/Hop or Rap sound we're accustomed to. Of course, there's a huge element of speed to Ciggpapi's execution, as it's this rapid and quick vocal delivery that attributes to that natural feeling of being energized listening to his tracks! This especially goes for one of his releases, titled "Papi". The track has that methodical beat that emulates the entirety of the track. Think of catchy and familiar mixes present throughout most successful rap tracks, then tied into the unique sounding Ciggpapi gives with his vocal exclamation. Ciggpapi has been contributing to the music scene for over 10-years. He's been passionate about the delivery and composure he provides, and we can feel this sincere passion within his 2019 release "Different Plans". Still encapsulating that embossing Hip/Hop production, "Different Plans" was the track that proved Ciggpapi's sound was effortlessly steady with its quickened tempo. We easily see through the soundings Ciggpapi debuted this year that he's inclined to stick to the same common sounding that's exclusive to his artistry. As with any artist, Ciggpapi's process is dynamic and takes time for him to fully incorporate every component that characterizes his sound. We're intrigued to see where this process advances in the New Year! Listen to Ciggpapi here. Welcome, Ciggpapi! Can we start off by asking how you thought your recent release of "Papi" ended up executing in the end? I’m grateful for my release because this is my first release of 2019 where I took the time to invest in my music. The most important part, finishing up “Papi”. When we gave a listen to "Papi", we immediately felt that impressionable energy to the track. How do you ensure that the pivotal energy your tracks rely on is easily manufactured during the recording process? Thank you! It’s the beat that creates energy. I could hear the beat and by listening, it allows me to determine the type of song I want to create. As an artist who is confident knowing the sound he wants to create, can you describe the sound you feel you're currently adhering to? I’m mixing two sounds. Rap with melodies. Before I would just rap and worry about having bars. Now I mix my rap with melodies. A little auto time never hurt. Would you consider yourself to be an artist who would incorporate contrasting genres into their sound? As a predominant Hip/Hop and Rap artist, do you see yourself ever incorporating elements from the rock or alternative music scene, for example? Yes. I have an ear for all music. A couple of rock bands I liked as a kid, such as Green Day and Lincoln Park. I enjoy R&B and some jazz to soothe the soul. When we gave a listen to "Different Plans" we felt just as electrified as we did in "Papi". Would you say that a true trait of your sound is that invigorating energy present? Its the beat, it allows me to give off that energy. I’m dealing with two producers now where I just want to make music where my fans are relating to my lyrics and moving to the beat. I’m focusing on catchy hooks for sing-alongs and creating songs less than 3 minutes. I want to keep the listener wanting more; and not getting lost in the song, because of length. instagram.com/ciggpapi #BuzzMusic
- Musical Duo Sincerely Craig Release Sharp and Intense Track "Oh My"!
Sincerely Craig is the talented duo, made up of members Sasha and David. They have such an interesting dynamic together. Both attributed to the vocal execution, Sincerely Craig has such notable raspy elements and power in their voices, especially once they're collectively combined. Sincerely Craig has recently come out with their single "Oh My", which is the perfect track to highlight the two artists' abilities, and how they complement one another once combined. It's clear to us that the duo has this sense of connection between knowing the sound they're able to reach with one another and ensuring that the sound is reached. We know that with Sincerely Craig, we're receiving all that they have to offer as artists, and that makes our listening experience special, knowing that we're getting the heart and soul from both Sasha and David. Sincerely Craig's "Oh My" features their unique and raspy vocal approaches we've noted earlier. Sincerely Craig builds up their stamina throughout "Oh My", as the track starts off semi-mild, but eventually disperses into the true and compelling harmonies of Sincerely Craig. "Oh My" surges with such distinct confidence between duo Sincerely Craig. Their sound has always encaptured the very essence of strength and power, and so when we heard "Oh My" we weren't at all surprised by the way they executed this one! "Oh My" has probably made it on our favorites list just after one listen! Fingers crossed that Sincerely Craig continues with their robust and complementary sound for 2020! Listen to "Oh My" here. Hey, Sasha and David! We welcome Sincerely Craig to BuzzMusic! Your release of "Oh My" ends off your 2019 as a duo. How do you both feel now that the single is out and released to your listeners?! David: Hey Buzz! Thanks for having us! Yes, we were really excited to release "Oh My". It is a step closer to listeners getting a glimpse of how our sound is evolving, especially with how Sasha’s progress has been on the bass. I only started teaching her about 2 years ago and it has made quite a difference in our song-writing. We also filmed and edited the music video for "Oh My” ourselves, and it has actually been nominated by Dropout Entertainment for the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards of 2019! So we’re pretty excited about that too. Once listening to "Oh My" we already knew this track would be a stellar performance to see live! Can you describe the energy present within your crowds during live performances?! Sasha: Thanks! Yes we love performing live. It’s the best way to hear a song and you get to really put all of your energy into for the crowd. I think it’s important for them to feel that. We love getting intimate at our shows and we get to tell our story. Listeners get an idea of where the song comes from and I think that makes it so much more personal, relatable and exciting. Sincerely Craig has such vibrant soundings as a duo! How do you both think this sense of vibrancy was cultivated between the two of you? Sasha: Thank you! I think that the more we spend time together and the more we share music with one another, we take each other through different genre or artist phases. We live together on the road so if we’re not playing music, we’re listening to it. One week we’ll be listening to a Marilyn Manson CD for a week straight when we’re driving, then it’ll be Billy Idol, then Mudvayne, then The Bee Gees! I think changing it up keeps music and playing exciting, and there’s always inspiration to grab from to incorporate into your own playing and style. Do you think as a duo, each of you brings varying elements to Sincerely Craig's final sound? Contrastingly, do you think you each bring similar elements to the table, and that's why the sound is so refined and sharp? David: Well when Sasha and I both met, we didn’t listen to the same music at all. At that time I listened to a lot of heavy metal; Pantera, Mudvayne, and Sasha listened to a lot of varying electronic music; EDM and new wave artists like Spooky Black, and underground/independent acoustic artists. I was actually in a metal band myself, so Sasha and I had no similar interests in music when we first met. So we have definitely had varying elements, strengths, and inspiration to bring to the table. But now that we’ve been playing together and growing from each other, I do think we start to refine our sound more. Our interests become more similar, our playing has definitely tightened up. It all takes time, and it takes lots of sharing. And as long as we both keep learning and be open to new sounds and ideas, we’ll continue to bring out the best in each other and push our sound and limits. We've heard that you're planning on releasing a few new singles in 2020! Can listeners expect the same Sincerely Craig sound that 2019 saw, or are they in for a different sounding? With the music we’ve been working on in comparison to what we have released now, I think that listeners will be excited to hear what we have coming. Our sound has been evolving a lot and it has become more complicated and progressive. I think listeners will be excited! Our singing, songwriting, and playing has come a long way. You guys will get an idea with our upcoming release Downstream, which we recored with Toronto producer Ross Hayes Citrullo. We can’t wait to share it with you! We should expect it out in January 2020. Thanks, Sincerely Craig, for talking with us here at BuzzMusic! We hope that 2020 is as good to you two as 2019 was! Artistically, where does this vision for Sincerely Craig extend from here? Thanks, and thank you again for having us. We just take it day by day! We have now been living on the road together for over a year, and it has been the most amazing life. We’ve been able to follow our musical journey wherever it decides to take us and it has created a lot of new opportunities for us! Ideally, we would love to release a full album soon. But being an independent artist it’s hard to have the funds for all that good stuff. So we might just continue releasing singles until then! We think that as long as we can keep sharing our music, we can get to know our audience and listeners, play on more stages, meet more awesome musicians and just get our name out there! And of course to have fun. We want to keep sharing, growing and meeting people and we can’t wait to do it all again in 2020. instagram.com/sincerelycraig facebook.com/sincerelycraig #BuzzMusic

Lil Djent showed us that they are what the music industry needs and we were quick to believe them with the exhilarating music that they create. Lil Djent shows us that hard work, careful planning, and progressive storytelling through songwriting will create a magical result. Their music is not only refined, but it’s refreshing with new elements found in each layer of their songs. Lil Djent absorbs their listeners through their striking sounds and mesmerizing lyricism. Lil Djent's way with words, paints a vivid picture to the listener, exploring the imaginative aspect of our personalities! Their personality radiates through their music, giving you an authentic sense of who Lil Djent are as individuals! We can surely guarantee you that Lil Djent is on their way to huge success. Listen to Lil Djent here. Hello Lil Djent and welcome back to BuzzMusic! Tell us, what have you been up to in 2019? 2019 been a year of traveling and transitions for us. Our vocalist, composer and lyricist Shruti Mutalik, was living in Washington, DC, and our producer and multi-instrumentalist Andres Gallo was living in NYC, and both of us were traveling a lot. We made a lot of music on weekends, on the go, while commuting and traveling. We released three singles this year as Lil Djent, have one single in post-production right now and two more that are in the making. We also released a music video for one of our songs. The good news is, we are now in the same location- NYC- which makes making music together much easier! Can you tell us the meaning behind your song "Everything is wonderful"? “Everything is wonderful” is a song that initially started with our vocalist’s playful attempt at horror, in response to the initial tension and suspense of the opening riff. The first verse is meant to be playful, in a horror theme sort of way. Anyways, the song does become more distorted and chaotic in its sound as it progresses. So I guess one could say it switches perspective from someone in control of pleasure and pain to someone out of control who is holding on for dear life. We wanted a song that left one with a sense of the eerie, the dark, while still being tongue in cheek in parts. In the end, the song basically tries to depict life and death, pleasure and pain. How do you feel your music has progressed this year? Our music has evolved from the progressive rock and heavy metal of our previous projects to a more electronic and experimental sound in Lil Djent. We are happy to have completed and released three singles as Lil Djent this year! What was the most challenging aspect around creating "Everything is wonderful"? The most challenging aspect around creating “Everything is wonderful” was that our team was based out of different cities, and we were traveling a lot for work, so our time to create music was limited, and we weren’t always in the studio. However, technology rocks, and we were able to compose and create on the go! What would you like your new fans to know about you Lil Djent? We would like our fans to know that we love creating interesting and novel sounds, and love playing with melody, beat, and theme. We love experimenting with new sounds, while trying to create something exciting for our fans. And interestingly enough, we actually had some listeners who listened to our music expecting djent metal. We will aim to incorporate some of that too, which was after all what our previous project was about. Just have to figure out how to keep it accessible, without losing the essence of this project. As 2019 has been a busy year musically for you, what can we expect from you in 2020? In 2020, we will release more singles followed by a complete album! We are very excited about this. facebook.com/lildjent instagram.com/lildjent #BuzzMusic
- 2019 Was Victorious With Ross Victory!
Singer/songwriter, author and travel enthusiast Ross Victory is here to take a look back at 2019, and the music that was curated within it. We know how tranquil Ross Victory makes his sound, and subsequently, we can expect his 2019 to be filled with a sense of charm and overall calmness. Well, it definitely was. Ross Victory maintained that fruitful and flavorful melody for listeners, which comes off as such a natural feature to his artistry. What did Ross Victory's 2019 look like? Reflective, mystic, and expressive are words that automatically come to our minds when we reminisce on the soundings Ross Victory gave listeners. We see this clearly through tracks like "Savor the View", and "Everything Means Nothing". "Savor the View" will create a very serene and blissful experience. The deep and sensual production aids to the slow vocal outflow of Ross Victory very well. The entire production was so successfully shaped around the ambiance Ross Victory's voice brings, which is an element that was able to heighten his sounding respectively. Progressing on to tracks such as "Everything Means Nothing", the same vibrant yet soothing aspect of Ross Victory is emulated through the vocal performance. Production elements to Ross Victory only amplify the background and overall scene of which the vocals capture. Ross Victory stands out with his artistic concepts he applies to his sound, and we're anticipating more of this unique sounding in 2020! Listen to the 2019 soundings of Ross Victory here. Welcome, Ross Victory! Congratulations on the releases 2019 saw from you! Out of the few releases cultivated this year, which release do you suggest to a new Ross Victory listener? Savor the View and Everything Means Nothing are both very different. Savor the View is a relaxing, soothing song that makes listeners feel at peace. I love it because I can sit, close my eyes and enjoy the song. Everything Means Nothing is more of a mid-tempo heartfelt song that listeners can enjoy with their eyes closed or maybe just slow rocking to it. I recommend listeners check both of them out! You've always been an incredibly introspective artist. How do you use this aspect of your character to grow and synthesize your sound? I look for beats and instrumentation that match my vision of the song. Sometimes the opposite is exact. If I want a song to evoke pain and longing, sometimes using an upbeat track will put a creative, ironic spin on it and make the lyrics and vocal pop. For example, if I want to write about isolation, I would look for beats and instrumentation that have a lot of space to highlight the lyrics and an intimate vocal. I've had a lot of exciting life experiences, so no matter the beat or instrumentation, I can always find a creative way to drop in honesty. "Savor the View" was such a nicely blended track. It emulated such a feeling of peace! How do you ensure the perfect ambiance is established within your listeners through your tracks? Collaboration and communication with the musical production team is critical! The producer of the Savor the View, Pnxcho, really understood the songs purpose, and we made sure that every mixing decision, every harmony never strayed away from that purpose of the track, which was to bring about peace and reflection. My burden as an artist is to stand true and speak up when it feels like we are drifting away from the purpose or at least request a conversation to be convinced. I've noticed that whenever I enlist help to execute a vision, it's essential for me to communicate why this project exists. You're very much involved with communities in Los Angeles. Can you share more on the work you dedicate yourself to? How do you think this type of community involvement shapes the way you create artistically? Yes, I'm from Los Angeles, and my parents made sure that my sister and I were aware of what was happening with the needs of the local community. There is a wealth gap even among people who do not live on the streets. So I learned early on it's crucial to engage, be grateful, and watch my attitude when interacting with others. It's empathy at a basic level. In my writing and music, I think this upbringing comes across as soulfulness, heartfelt, and sincerity. Were you happy with the way your overall artistry executed within 2019? Yes, I am happy with everything that I released in 2019. I was most pleased about the inception of Savor the View; Everything Means Nothing and all of the music I have planned to release in 2020. I planned to write and publish a book, but I did not intend to record an audiobook. Recording the audiobook gave life to Savor the View and truly reignited my musical voice. I am most happy with getting in touch with music again. Although my year ended with a layoff from a job I had for nearly four years, I had a great creative year. Music is, in fact, a refuge from uncontrollable life factors like layoffs, loss of loved ones, and overall disillusionment from the world. It was a pleasure to hear about your music and more personal elements to what creates your sound! Are you one to start goals for yourself in the new year? If so, are there any goals you've set for yourself artistically for 2020? Yes, I have a lot of goals for myself. My main goal is to keep creating and never drop the ball on my creativity again. I create from a place of fun, the need to express, and no pressure. If I get a chance to impact thousands or millions of people from that authenticity, then that’s great. If not, then I know for sure, there was something in it for me at every step, and I was creating things I love. Happy New Year! @rossvictoryofficial #BuzzMusic

Thanks for talking with us today at Buzz Music! “Snow Angels In The Rain” is such a unique title. Can you explain what this means to you? I guess it's about how fragile we all are in the world and one day we will just disappear. Have you found being from Ireland a big influence on the elements used in your song “Snow Angels in the Rain”? Being from Ireland I love the outdoors and bringing outdoor elements to my songs. This one was actually inspired in the Scottish highlands when it snowed for a week trapping us indoors. Who was the producer for this track? Anthony Gibnet at Audioland Studios. Where do you get your vocal and lyrical inspiration from? Lyrically my songs tend to start from random thoughts I have when close to nature. I love listening to people like Leonard Cohen and Glen Hansard for inspiration on how to communicate honestly and to simply express what's in my head and my heart. I also love listening to Joni Mitchell and Emmy Lou Harris vocally. Lastly, what can your listeners expect next from you? I've recorded a number of my slower songs so I'm thinking I need to start recording some more uptempo tracks in 2020. facebook.com/darwinsdaughter instagram.com/darwinsdaughtermusic #BuzzMusic

Discover DJ Waffles' production stylings in "Taste" here. Hey, DJ Waffles! Congratulations on the release of "Taste"! How did you feel synthesizing the production for this particular track? In the beginning, I was hesitant because I’ve never produced anything like it before. I started off in the field of EDM, so producing an indie-pop track was out of my comfort zone. I was about halfway done with the beat when I finally felt excited and proud because it was coming all together. That’s when I knew instantly that Taste would become a hit. As an emerging DJ, how do you feel you're bringing about a new sound within the world of mixing? I feel extremely excited and proud. Finding my sound has been something I’ve been working on over my 1.5 year production career. Most DJs produce EDM, so it feels amazing proving that DJs don’t just have to produce that genre of music. How do you go about picking the tracks you're interested in collaborating with?! Usually, it’s all random because I need singers for all my tracks. Most of the time, I’d find a good singer that sings the same genre as the beat is. How I worked with Jakob was a funny story because it was all an accident. I originally produced Taste for a singer in Greece, but he later couldn’t get any inspiration from it and we parted our ways. About a week later, Jakob shot me a DM on Instagram asking to collaborate and we connected instantly. "Taste" definitely had a distinct and varied sound all throughout the track. We especially loved the more expressive performance during the chorus of the song. Where did your inspiration stem from in order to create a production for a track like "Taste"?! I love everything about Taste and it’s such a unique track with a different sound. My inspiration for it was behind the music of Lewis Capaldi and Coldplay. I took Coldplay’s sound and made it into a chorus while I took Lewis Capaldi's sound and made the verses. It’s such a simple, yet emotional track. Can you share with our readers the deeper message behind "Taste" and how it delves into the world of emotions entailing heartbreak? Taste was written based on a true story of mine. It talks about a hard breakup between a couple and how everything may feel so depressing at first. Although one may feel so much pain and sorrow, they will never forget each other’s “Taste” when going separate ways. I felt all of this before with a breakup of mine and we couldn’t stop thinking about the other person. We both had a bit of each other inside of us after moving on. It was a pleasure to talk with you about your latest single "Taste", DJ Waffles! Where do you see your career heading for the 2020 year? I have big things planned for next year! A couple of new dance tracks will be out between now and February and I’m still planning on continuing my DJ show Nightlife that airs on Real Dance Radio. There are also plans to make a documentary about me and how I got started with music at such a young age. It’s gonna be an exciting year for sure! instagram.com/jakob__faber instagram.com/djwafflesofficial #BuzzMusic
