- Sunweight Attacks With Their New Feral EP
The new Feral EP release from Memphis based Sunweight brandishes its own style of trashy garage rock. Clearly influenced by rock classics and even alternative rock of the early 2000s, the band crushes through the 5 track EP with unbeatable energy and massive sonic performance. Guitar hooks that smash through your brain and stick around. With a set of songs that all have a life on their own, the record starts off with the melodic and powerful "Silent + Sound". A song that has one of the most creative riffs on the EP. Some great changes and some heavier sounds lining its tone. Following that is "Birth", the band's single. "Birth" detonates straight from the get-go and swells down to a calm sway until it comes back hard again. A giant of a song, the only thing more fun is its video counterpart. Any fan of alternative or garage rock needs this EP like a punch to the gut, in a good way. A strong release from a fun band! instagram.com/sunweightmusic facebook.com/sunweightband #BuzzMusic
- Alonzo Shares Details On Upcoming EP 'ENOUGH'
Hello Alonzo! Great to have some time with you today! We heard that you have an EP dropping early this year. Is that true? Hey! Awesome to speak with you guys as well. YES! An EP is definitely coming soon. We’re finishing it early but the EP won’t come out until this summer. What can you tell us about it? Do you have a title? Ahhhh I want to say so much but I kind of want to keep most a mystery for now haha. I will drop an exclusive though, this is the first time I’m speaking of this publicly the title of my Debut EP is “ENOUGH” J Did you write the songs on your EP? If so, can you give us some insight into what that is like for you? Do you set down and write a song in one session or is it more inspiration throughout different times in life – or a combination of both? Yes! Every single song I’ve written with my producer/co-writer Eric Zayne. Typically, we write the songs in one session in the studio. Recently though I’ve been doing a lot more writing at home. I decided to go celibate to complete this EP and one of the things that I do when I’m “in the mood” is write songs. It’s been a really cool journey and it has really shown me how powerful it can be for us to use our sexual energy for creativity. I truly believe this music is some of my best work yet. How will the music on the EP differ from what you have previously released? Will it be a big departure or in the same wheelhouse? Well, the cool thing about an EP is I get to tell a full story. It's less about the singles and more about a full body of work which I’m really excited about. I think music previously released was me still discovering my sound. On the EP, it will be clear that I have officially found my sound. What do you hope listeners take away after hearing your music? I honestly just want them to feel something. My biggest goal is evoking emotion. The emotions felt depend on the listener but as long as they feel SOMETHING I feel accomplished. In my eyes music that makes you feel nothing has failed. Tell us what do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music? I love this question because I really need to start practicing the answer to it. This is a very common question for upcoming artists. For me, I know I stand out because I don’t sound like anyone. My voice is different, to begin with. Add that to the fact that I am a black boy primarily singing Rock music and you have something that’s not normal. The way that I think is not common as well. I use to be afraid to say this in public because I never want to seem like I’m not humble but I’ve learned that I can be humble with extraordinary talent. If fans want to catch you live soon, where can they do that? Where we can connect with you online? Well as of now I don’t have any shows scheduled but please subscribe to my mailing list at IAmAlonzo.com and follow me on Instagram @StoryOfAlonzo #BuzzMusic
- Catching Up With Mark and the Tiger
Mark! Welcome. We heard you have a new single coming out – when can we expect to hear it? Hello! Thank you for having me! Yes, I do. It’s coming out on Valentine's Day. Right around the corner! We also saw on IG that you are putting out an EP. That is a big deal, congrats! Can you share more with us what the process of creating it has been like? It’s been pretty nifty! I didn’t actually set out to create an EP. I was just refining my sound and creating singles. Figuring out who I am. But the last four or five songs that I’ve written, even though they’re all super different, have a similar vibe. It just seemed right to put them all together. And I’m throwing in a few other singles too just because. Keeping it eclectic! We love that you are a wordsmith and create amazing imagery through songwriting. How important is it for you to write your own music? Thank you so much! That’s really gracious of you to say. It’s extremely important for me to write my own music. First of all, I just love to tell stories. But more than that I think I have real messages I want to send, emotions I want to convey. I’m not the most outspoken person in the world but music is my way to make a statement. Can you share more what your songwriting process is like? What sparks your creativity to set and pen a song? I don’t know if I could give you a specific answer. The sparks just come from my own experiences. But as far as the writing process goes, I get most of my ideas while I’m driving in my car. I usually take tons and tons of voice memos and then piece them together. We know you are currently in LA, but have you ever considered moving and pursuing music in another city? Every so often I think about packing up my stuff and heading to Nashville. I’ve been there once and loved it. And let's face it, these days it’s the place to be for music in America. But I think that there is still a lot more for me to do here in LA. Plus, I don’t know if my husband would be down for the switch-a-roo. But maybe I’ll head there for a few months someday soon and just test the waters. Any shows coming up where fans can catch maybe a sneak peek of new music? You’ll have to wait until the end of spring. I’m taking the next few months to really get my shit together and make sure my music is ready to go. But once I start touring I’ll be doing it for a while so check out my website for dates! Tell us where we can connect with you online and support you! - The Royds Released Their Enticing New Album, “You Look Nice Today, Carol”
Electrifying, magnetic, and enthralling! The Royds are here with their smashing new album titled “You Look Nice Today, Carol”. This exciting new album begins with, “What’s Become Of You”. “What’s Become Of You” has enigmatic guitar chords, a percussion-soaked drum arrangement, accompanied by raw rock and roll vocal delivery! The lyrics are edgy but whimsical. “What’s Become Of You” opens the door into this addictive album. Next, “Late Night Radio” transitions in with an arrangement that is different from “What’s Become Of You”. “Late Night Radio” has a delightful vocal resonance with soft guitar melodies that are canorous and acoustic. “Late Night Radio” has catchy lyrics sung in an enduring and memorable tune. “Whatever Happened To Kyle” is an intoxicating and thrilling single with a strong showcase of instruments to create this progressive rock ‘n roll breakthrough into the album. Our personal favorite addition to this album, “Where Did We Go Wrong”, had a mind-boggling shift from the soft introduction to the hard-hitting, rapid moving, and elated arrangement. “Where Did We Go” has a gorgeous hook that is beautifully delivered. The melody is captivating, mixed with haunting energy that is indelible. The next song on this album is “Pleasure Is Pain”. This song has a well-planned fusion of country-rock and blues with a western aesthetic. “Pleasure Is Pain” is the perfect song to listen to at a party. This song promotes celebration, friendship, drinks, and good vibes. “Lie To My Face” showcases a vulnerable side of The Royds artistry. The lyrics are emotional; they originate from raw passion. The Royds’ skillful use of various instruments creates a rock ‘n roll vibe that we admire. However, it is the alluring melody in “Lie To My Face” that clinches the album’s reputation of soaring melodies and explosive instrumentation. The album concludes with the song, “Your Favorite Song”. “Your Favorite Song” begins with acoustic instrumentation, as opposed to the electric instruments, which gives this song a unique sound that differs considerably to the previous song. However, if listeners miss striking guitar chords and smashing drum rhythms, The Royds still gives listeners a transition in dynamics and genres into one song. The Royds are releasing a rock on the album that will spellbind listeners with melodies, but excite them with energetic instrumentation! Listen to “You Look Nice Today, Carol” by The Royds here. Welcome to BuzzMusic! What's the story behind The Royds? We've played music together since high school. We were writing and rehearsing a lot but didn't book a show for, what was probably a year. When we finally booked our first show we realized we didn't have a name. One of us just threw “The Royds” out there, and it stuck. Oddly enough, the name not only fits our music but for us as people. Since that first show, we’ve consistently been writing and performing. We released our debut album Royd Rage in 2014, and the follow up You Look Nice Today, Carol last year. Can you tell us about your overall style as a band? What are some bands who have influenced you? Too many to count. We have a wide range of influences because we’re two different people with different music tastes. Obviously, we have some shared interests - everyone loves The Beatles. Andy is influenced by artists like System of a Down, Pink Floyd, and Iron Maiden. Robb draws influence from artists like The Who, Steely Dan, and Weezer. Our personalities often come through in the songs, we also influence each other. “You Look Nice Today, Carol” was an amazing release packed with captivating songs! Can you describe to us the theme behind this album and how you made your vision come to life? After Royd Rage we took some time to write not only new songs but also rework some of our older stuff (some of the songs on Carol were written while we recorded Royd Rage). In the time between albums, we grew as both musicians and songwriters. When we were finished we felt that the songs had more of a mature vibe compared to Royd Rage. Stories are told in songs like "Late Night Radio", "Your Favorite Song", and "Where Did We Go Wrong?" We had a lot of those songs for a while, but we were afraid to put them out because they were so personal. The songs on You Look Nice Today, Carol was really about perfecting our sound and evolving while sticking true to Royd Rage. We wanted it to sound like the next logical step. We worked with the amazing Nick Zinnanti at Zin Records, the album also features the incredibly talented Sergio Hernandez on drums. “Lie To My Face” seemed to have showcased a lot of vulnerability in your vocalist! Can you describe to us the songwriting approach towards this and in what ways were you able to personally relate? "Lie to my Face" about a former employer of Andy’s. She was not easy to work for. It was written out of frustration. Most people can relate to having a bad boss at work. What can we expect to see next from The Royds? We're going back into the studio this year to begin work on our third album. We have no release date yet. We are working on a lot of new material, like brand new, which is different for us. For the first two albums, we’ve had a well of songs we had written to go to. Usually, we’ve had a song written for a year or two before we record it. The beauty of being an independent artist is there are no set timetables and no deadlines for us to get music released. It allows us the time to experiment and really get to know the music before releasing it. It's great quality control. We're not gonna release music unless we're happy with the final product. We’re excited to make this new album and hope people enjoy it. facebook.com/theroyds instagram.com/the_royds #BuzzMusic
- Kora Releases Controversial and Poetic EP “My Sixth Dimensional Existence”
By: Isabella W - February 10, 2020 Kora is an independent singer-songwriter, producer and engineer from The Bay Area, California. She discovered her passion for music at the age of 15 and has since been intrigued by the life of a performer. Thought-provoking lyrics and stage presence come naturally to Kora, which is why she wanted to augment her talents from just singing and writing to production and engineering. Kora has released an EP called “My Sixth Dimensional Existence” in which she produced the beats for two of the four songs. “My Sixth Dimensional Existence” is an EP that is truly delightful. The spotlight of each track concentrates mostly on her lyrics and message, rather than vocals and instruments. She uses an overwhelming amount of sound effects and techno-styled instrumentals. Most of the lyrics are either spoken or artfully sung with a dry, monotone approach. This uncommon style of vocals gives Kora’s EP “My Sixth Dimensional Existence” its poetic quality. Each song has a different message relevant to world problems. The first track of the EP “2:03Am” is mostly electronic, and the repetitive lyrics are spoken with a robotic sound. This song focuses on the idea of freedom. Kora repeats the idea of flying through the sky many times throughout the song. “If I Fall” is the only song of the EP that Kora sings instead of presenting her lyrics in a spoken-word style. For a few verses near the end of the song, her voice is altered to sound very high pitched. Her vocals are subtle and lack a steady melody, leaving room for the focus to be upon the message. This song reflects on Kora’s idea of Generation X overcoming the adversity past generations have caused, and, therefore, creating a harmonious world. “My Sixth Dimensional Existence” is certainly the most unique song on the EP. The entire song embodies a horror aesthetic; there is a creepy piano sound in the background, and her vocals purposefully echo. Kora sings about her “sixth-dimensional existence” as being the reasons for her differences and embraces this part of herself. Kora’s final song “Glass Eyes” brought attention to negative and toxic aspects of life. She circled back to the theme from “2:03Am” of flying as a metaphor to express freedom. The combination of light piano, a background chorus, and Kora’s spoken lyrics, gives the song eerie and mysterious connotations. With her new EP “My Sixth Dimensional Existence” Kora will surely wow her audiences with a glimpse of the musical poetry inside her brain. - We All Need a “Staycation” and Sweet N' Juicy Knows How to Convince Us!
Sweet n Juicy released their single titled “Staycation” and this song was everything and more. “Staycation” is the perfect party song. I mean, if you watch the video released alongside the audio, you will see how everyone is simply not giving a care in the world and it's all fun. They’re letting loose, having fun, and simply enjoying the vibes that’s around. From this visual alongside the lyrics to “Staycation,” I was able to interpret that this song was pretty much about enjoying the moment, living for the present, and allowing yourself to have fun. You escape your stressful realities and enter this vacation, or can we say “Staycation” that’s electrifying and exhilarating. The wittiness in each catchphrase of the song showcased Sweet N Juicy's ability to be humorous. You see their personality shine through not only the music itself but the video. Connecting with this band’s addicting personality helps you enjoy the song 20x more. It’s like Sweet N’ Juicy knows exactly how to reel you into “Staycation” to where you don’t want to leave! Everything about this song was superb. From the enjoyable music video to the galvanizing instrumentation and the idiosyncratic vocal delivery, Sweet N’ Juicy excites the listener and transforms you into a satisfied fan, longing for your next staycation! You can listen to “Staycation” from Sweet N’ Juicy here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Sweet N’ Juicy! Sweet (the Banana): Thanks for having us on! How did you guys form? What’s the story behind the band’s name? Sweet: Well, let’s see. I went on a walk one day and found Juicy hanging by his lonesome just kind of playing the piano. Juicy (the Strawberry): It’s true! Sweet: After that, we started playing together in Portland Oregon at this crazy theater. Weird stuff kept happening there. Spooky, cool, humankind of stuff- and that’s where we met N’. N’ (Nefertitipharoahsandramundusifilopilis the Pineapple): Yeah, that was place WAS super weird. Sweet: And as for the name of our band- Sweet N’ Juicy: It’s our names! Talk to us about the video for “Staycation”. What inspired you to write the song? Juicy: It’s from a real-life experience. Sweet used to date a girl name Murielle. They would have sex for days at a time- stopping only to drink water, eat some fruit, and if they had to- go use the bathroom. If that happened they’d be bummed out because they had to stop. We don’t talk about that in the song though. What was the theme you were aiming for in “Staycation”? N’: Just partying and staying in hanging out, having lots of wild sex, and eating a fruit occasionally. Nothing really complicated about it. I guess the theme is straight-up partying..? Probably that. I don’t know, pineapples kind of ditch the language ditch. Let’s talk about the cool video you released to this! How was the filming process like for “Staycation”? N’: The filming for that video was kind of wild. Sweet stayed up the night before rolling 2 ounces worth of joints and during the filming, we set off the smoke alarm a whole bunch. Sweet: Haha, yeah- that was a crazy number of joints. That was 4 hours of my delicious life. People liked them, though! I got a lot of compliments. Juicy: The crazy thing is that we like, didn’t plan ahead for that at all. I guess I cleaned my room a little bit, but that was it. We didn’t hit people up too far ahead, and I think most of the people there were called day-of. And it was on a Monday. So we found around 20 people who don’t work mostly to come to get wasted at three in the afternoon on a Monday. I love Oregon. Sweet: We bought fruit and a bunch of booze, but other than that and the joints people just showed up in costume. Astronaut, Panda, Dominatrix, -that’s just what they wore because they knew what it was about. What’s next for you Sweet N’ Juicy? N’: Well! We have a West Coast tour in February, which we’ll be doing three times a year from now on, and a bunch of new songs in the works. A lot of touring- November we’re going back in the studio… Oh! And starting February we’ll also be releasing weekly skits on our youtube channel. It’s gonna be about a bunch of random stuff, so go check it out! It could be neat. Sweet N’ Juicy: Thank you BuzzMusic for having us on!!!! Buzz, buzz, baby! youtube.com/sweetnjuicymusic facebook.com/sweetnjuicymusic instagram.com/sweetnjuicymusic #BuzzMusic
- NEW MUSIC: "Love A Good Thing" By Angel Dweh
Angel Dweh is more than a triple threat. Not only can he can act, dance, and sing, but he's also a songwriter. His music can't be labeled easily though. Angel cites being influenced by Usher, R&B Pop, and Hip Hop Dance the most, but presents his work in its own unique way. After releasing his first single "Love a Good Thing" in July, Angel's work has been grabbing the attention of critics and the people. He's performed his music at the New York showcase "Gotta Do It Big" and was featured in the Ephrata Review and SKINGS online magazine, all giving him the recognition he deserves. With more singles on the horizon, let's take a look at Angel's first single "Love a Good Thing". The Ephrata, PA native defies expectations with his debut single "Love a Good Thing", an R&B bop that brings pop and dance elements into the mix. Angel's twist on R&B helps him stand out in the genre and he knows it. He takes a slick hip hop beat, the fire sound of a dance track, and the catchiness of a pop song to make a unique sound. It didn't take long for us to join in with Angel as he sang the chorus. Snapping along with the beat, the industrial vibes of the dance siren keep things fresh and interesting, so if you're looking for something cool and new, check out Angel Dweh! Listen to "Love a Good Thing" here. Welcome to BuzzMusic, thanks for the interview! What source of inspiration did you draw from the most when recording "Love a Good Thing"? When recording "Love a Good Thing" I gain inspiration from life around me but also looking at the relationships in our society. What was the recording process like? Was it smoother or harder than you expected? The recording process wasn't hard. Though I was nervous and scared of creating "Love a Good Thing", but it was amazing, I was more confident that it was going to turn out awesome. What's was great about the process was I had my best friend with me in the studio doing the session. Who would you like to collaborate with in the future? In the future, I would love to Collaborate with Chance The Rapper, Khalid, Usher, TreySongz, Chris Brown, H.E.R and Beyonce First, Chance the Rapper story is an inspiration to me, he's a great artist, he started as an independent artist. And I love the recent album he released. Usher, TreySongz and Chris Brown, I have been listing to their music since middle school, And with Usher and Chris Brown are the best male dancer in the industry right now, each time I watched their dance music I see myself doing the dance moves but doing it in my style and creating my own body of work that will make people of all ages, race, or sex can relate to and be inspired. That is Why "Love a Good Thing" is for every age group, anyone can listen to relate to it.H.E.R to me, she's the female vision of Prince, she can play multiple instruments. I love her work, her lyrics speak the truth of our society. However, she's an awesome artist, that's why I would love to collaborate with her. Beyonce the pop queen, the vocalist, I mean there is no one word to describe her. Growing up as a kid I listen to records from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Aretha Fraklin, Destiny Child, and the list goes on. Beyonce's work is inspiring, her Coachella performance watching it's in high school was beautiful. I gain more self-confidence in my work each time I watched Beyonce and Michael Jackson's live performance on Youtube Do you feel like you could ever choose to focus on one genre of music? As a young independent artist, I see myself focusing more on contemporary pop-R&B music. However, I love adversity because as an artist I think it's good to have it within your work. Where can fans keep up to date with your life? Any social media to plug? Fans can follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, all they have to do is look for me as @angelwratto on all social media. The cool thing is that I do live videos to communicate with my fans. It's the best way for them to know me better. So definitely they can follow me on social media. With two new single coming out in November, I will be doing live video for my fans to get the inside of my creation. www.instagram.com/angelwratto www.facebook.com/AngelWrattos #BuzzMusic
- Zitro Delivers "Little League" to Listeners + New Video
Singer/songwriter/producer Justin Ortiz has crafted his artistry into Zitro. Zitro draws from various aspects of his life in order to curate the right kind of sound, completely exclusive to him. If we're being honest here, Zitro definitively incorporates a surplus of contrasting melodies in order to bring about a sound that is different from the ordinary. Nonetheless, isn't that what we want as listeners soundings that are different from the average? Zitro's your go-to Alternative/Soul listening experience, and he's just come out with his album "Milton" which develops as an adventure with the introspections of Zitro. Zitro has put his song "Little League" out into circulation for all listeners alike to hear. It's hard to classify this particular track, and honestly, his entire album "Milton" where "Little League" stems from. Zitro is trying to bring about that flowing sound that has many varying dimensions to it. This allows listeners to be confronted with a multitude of different soundings, creating an eclectic mix. "Little League" has electronic synths to add an otherworldly sensation, but keeps up with soulful vocalism that comes off as extremely powerful. Zitro has also released a music video for "Little League", which complements the eccentric stylings he's capable of synthesizing. His inspirations stem greatly from his tracks, and we're curious to see what it is Zitro can accomplish next within the music industry! Listen to Zitro's "Little League" here. - Indie-Pop Artist Rikki Valentina is Here to Establish Genuinity With "April Fool"
We love the way Rikki Valentina arranges her vocal outflow. We've always had. The Los Angeles Indie/Pop artist installs an honest and open environment for listeners with her musical curations, which has always made us feel that much closer to her on an artist-to-listener level. Already having her independent record label, Rikki Valentina aims to reach high in the music world, much beyond her artistry. Once we became highly aware of the potential that resides within Rikki Valentina, we knew her music had to be added to our playlists right away. Recently, Rikki Valentina has been coming out with new music that captures that neatly-packed, authentic styling we appreciate ever so much from her sound. 2019 sees its end soon, and with it, the release of Rikki Valentina's "April Fool". The track has a palpable honesty to it, which we know is developed from the refined projections of Rikki. The immediate use of ukelele sets the tender tone for Rikki Valentina's "April Fool". This particular track reminds us so heavily of Billie Eilish's "party favor". We really had to get that connection out of the way, as the two artists sound incredibly similar! The natural sense of innocence, tied in with a clear purity. Rikki Valentina has a vocal sound that easily flows without any imperfection. "April Fool" will be the indie/pop single that resonates well with listeners, and mainly because Rikki Valentina has such an intricate way of establishing that artist-to-listener connection. We felt that connection right away--there's almost an intimate approach to the way she goes about her vocal construction. With a soft and genuine delivery, Rikki Valentina makes it very easy to fall in love with her voice, and overall persona she presents within her music. Hopefully, 2020 sees more of Rikki Valentina's charm! Discover Rikki Valentina's "April Fool" here. instagram.com/rikkivalentina rikkivalentina.com #BuzzMusic
