- Music Video Premiere: Cheekbone Display Their Emotions in New Music Video for "Window"
The United Kingdom has given us some of the most iconic bands, from The Rolling Stones and The Beatles to Oasis and Franz Ferdinand. Today, we have a band who has taken influence from all of the above and gave us their take. Cheekbone has given us their music video for their new single "Window." The song and video start with simple intros, with simple guitar melodies and performance video shots before the band lights up the room with their music. As the music video progresses, you start to notice a theme of a love story, perhaps that has gone wrong. As the performance video progresses, so does the storyline as you notice shots of a guy and a girl driving around and the girl looking upset. The vocal performance is reminiscent of Liam Gallagher in the album ‘What’s The Story, Morning Glory?’, mainly in the way the vocals are drowned out and you can see the influence in his visual delivery. The video ends on a high note from the band, closing out their stellar performance. It’s the vibe, which is executed perfectly by the band. We can't wait to see Cheekbone rock the stage and perform "Window" live. All and all, a great song and music video that we suggest you check out! - Distorted Majesty Put a Unique Spin With Their Latest Release, “Evoking”
Distorted Majesty has released their latest single titled “Evoking”. Coincidentally enough, “Evoking” production was uniquely a firm representation of the band’s stage name. The elements and arrangement of the instruments and vocals were all distorted and sounded warped with contortion. The vocal delivery was highly laid-back and abundantly smooth yet remained unorthodox and intricate. There were multiple different electric components to the record that gave you a piercing strike and elevated access to the different dimensions that “Evoking” was equipped with. Not only was the song electrically exhilarating, but it was also individualistic. “Evoking” is the kind of song that can remain as a stand-out record as opposed to the other songs that are currently overflooding the market with this consistent sound that hasn’t made a budge. That was of course until Distorted Majesty has come around with this atypical style. Evoking is a passionately driven record that has a bitter-sweet vibe about a lost relationship. This is a theme that many people can relate too as we have all experienced heartbreak and disappointment before. Distorted Majesty has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on us and we are excited to see what’s in store for this promising band in the upcoming decade! - Producer Ms Vame Sets Out to Transcend Listeners Experience With "All That Matters"
From Sacramento, California, Ms Vame is the music producer to look out for right now in the music scene! As a mixer, Ms Vame currently operates her own production company in the area she resides in. Artistically, Ms Vame ensures that the sound she synthesizes is of the utmost quality. The productional tracks are full of expressive taste, with some electronic components that make for an otherworldly experience. Her hard work doesn't go unnoticed, especially once she released her 2019 album! Ms Vame has released an album titled "The Best of Ms Vame, Vol 1", which features 12 production style tracks, filled with the beats created purely by Ms Vame. One track off of the record, "All That Matters", is an incredibly mellow and serene track that starts itself off with a laidback, tranquil melody. Soon, other synths and instrumentals get incorporated into the track that gives it more of a sensual rhythm. There's a sense of determination sprinkled throughout the track, but mostly we felt in a lethargic state when listening along to Ms Vame's collective beats. The melody and tempo remained pretty consistent during "All That Matters", and we caught on to a slight jazz integration within the underlying rhythm. Those jazz components added a sense of modishness to Ms Vame's production style! Altogether, we appreciate the production mannerisms of Ms Vame, and anticipate seeing where her tracks take her in 2020! This collective combination executes itself well with the integrated instrumentals, and ultimately, the voice of JRtheBand prevails. Diving into more tracks released by JRtheBand in 2019, we come across "Spirits in the Shed". This track offers up a lively country presence with hard rock elements. JRtheBand really elevated his vocal outflow with this release. You can feel the fun JRtheBand must've been having while listening to the track. If you're wanting a more bustling and refreshing track to listen to from JRtheBand, "Spirits in the Shed" should be your first pick! In general, we've found JRtheBand to be a multi-faceted artist that appeals to a wide category of music. His flexibility to go back and forth between soundings was what attracted our attention, wholeheartedly. We're hoping that we continue to listen to more tracks from JRtheBand in 2020. We know that the potential for elevation is completely there on JRtheBand's end, and so we're intrigued to see how he'll grow his artistry further. Listen to JRtheBand & his music here! Hi there JRtheBand! Congratulations on all releases within 2019! It was definitely a great year for you and your music, to say the least. Looking back now, what are some of your favorite highlights from 2019 pertaining to your artistic career? The song that has the most special place in my heart is "Live my Grace". I wrote the music after losing my mom to her battle with cancer in hospice care and learning one very important lesson: The body is connected to the soul via millions of balloons on strings. When the final string holding the last balloon to our body snaps, the soul floats away leaving its broken body behind. Love and Memory make up the connective tissue linking departed souls to the living in mysterious ways to let us know they are okay. It took me a full 8 years to write and release this song, and it was the first song I'd ever written lyrically. Writing the lyrics to Live my Grace was so cathartic for me, that it started an unstoppable wave of songwriting for me ever since. While I released six songs in 2019, I know my mom is with me whenever I hear Live my Grace, so to get that out was definitely the highlight for me. "Spirits in the Shed" was one of our personal favorites. It was a type of sounding that lifted our spirits almost immediately. What was your hope for your listeners to get out of this particular track? I was at my buddy Rick’s annual holiday party. Old friends - college buddies who I had only seen on social media over the last few years - started showing up. Rick has a man cave in his backyard in the form of a shed. We went into the shed to hang out and laugh about old times. I joked it was like partying with ghosts. And the song, “Spirits in the Shed” was born. So I guess you could say I'd like the listener to feel like reaching out to some friends they've only digitally seen in a long while, arrange to meet, and give 'em a real kiss and a hug, or just a bro-hug, or whatever you're comfortable with!! :) In 2019, were there any artistic transformations you believe you've had? I don't know if it was a transformation as much as a water stop on a marathon, but it was about getting in touch with why I write - which hit me that, for me, writing is an outlet for exposing vulnerability without having to be too literal. So I've learned to become attuned to my inner devil's advocate when it's telling me subjects and themes are sounding too literal in my songwriting and then trusting that inner feedback to improve my songwriting. What direction do you see your main sounding taking off to in 2020? Or, can we expect the same familiar-sounding we receive now?! More songs! My plan is to keep writing and recording songs until I can't write anymore, or I end up licensing my catalog, whichever comes first :) Goal is to release a song a month until then, so press play early and often. Your voice is able to produce a variety of sounds, making some aspects of your sound almost contrasting to another. What would you say you would classify yourself as genre-wise, and what kind of elements do you find pivotal to the overall sounding of JRtheBand? You called it - My style is "eclectic" because I am inspired by so many genres. The best way I can describe my music is to tell you I write rock anthems that make you think about you and me - where you are not necessarily a person and me can either be me or you ;) Thanks for coming on BuzzMusic JRtheBand! We hope to hear more from you in the time to come. For now, is there any information you can share about 2020 for JRtheBand? - RBSN Premieres a Live Video Session off of His Upcoming EP
RBSN is synthesizing some serious sounds, and collectively creating the sound that is exclusive to him. We've been incredibly intrigued by the artistic abilities of RBSN, especially with the upcoming release of his debut EP "Soul Searching" on January 22nd. The EP consists of five tracks that each has its intricate crafting to ensure a dynamic experience for the listener. We are thrilled to announce the premiere of RBSN's brand new music video recorded live at Contemporary Cluster, titled "Foreover". We loved the live session reording, it's raw and it's real. The melody is incredibly slow and whimsical which pairs beautifully with the visual and overall mood of the video. The characteristic guitar soundings are back, and they set the entire mood of the track. "Foreover" advances and builds up to a heavier vocal delivery once we hit around halfway through the track. The vocal is beautiful on this track - the live recording of "Foreover" really emphasizes the emotion that builds throughout the song. "Foreover" is the perfect track to give an exclusive look into what you can expect from his debut EP "Soul Searching". We can't wait to hear it! Hey there RBSN! It's great to get the time to chat with you about your upcoming EP release of "Soul Searching" set for January 22nd, 2020! How did you feel about this release? How long have you been crafting the sound of this EP? Hey, Folks thanks for asking! We’re all very excited and kinda want to see the whole thing out there from start to finish. The sound was the easiest thing to bring to an end, it was a fantastic process and the tracks came out in a very personal and not self-conscious way. That’s owed to Luca Gaudenzi’s sorceries and the elements we both bring to the table at some point. We started recording the tracks in 2017 and from that point on we really shaped a vision more than just a sound. After almost three years of the identity, as well as the direction of the project, is well defined, we tried to blend all jazz and soul with rock and I think we succeeded! (we’re also very excited to be working on new awesome tracks) As your first EP, "Soul Searching" captured the essence of what truly is the sounding of RBSN. Out of the five-track EP, which track would you say resonated with you the most? I wrote those tracks when I was 18yr, so the whole process was really coming out of the shell for me. Showing those tunes to skilled and talented people was a bet all along but I found the right people to work with. Therefore the substance of the tunes remained unaltered and the way they’re delivering got so much more detailed and beautiful. For that reason, I think “Move” is the one track that touches everyone in the crew as well: we all worked around it together and nailed a new sound that really represents where the project is going soundwise as well as visually. A video created by me and directed by Brando Pacitto is out for that. Talk to us and our readers about the video for "Foreover", a video live session of one of the singles off of the EP! It was A lot of Fun! We shot the sesh in a 16th-century building in Rome (The Contemporary Cluster), Luca Gaudenzi and Dario Felli engineered it abundantly well and Jumping Flea Studio (Manuel Grieco, Alessandro Lazzi) filmed it. It is a very personal song and the arrangement is very different from the studio version. It really resembles what happens when we play live so we hope that who will watch will dig that. What are some goals you have set for yourself throughout 2020 artistically? 2020 gets us very excited. The crew has enlarged itself and our entourage works amazingly well together now. We’re creating a lot of material for both live performances and new releases, so you’re really going to see some different things now. As well we want to bring the new set around and spread the music in the various places of the world so maybe coming to a place near you? Thanks for taking the time to talk with us about "Soul Searching" and “Foreover”. Where are you headed now? Europe is the new soil we’re testing in the next few months or so, the EP is almost out so we need to start where our fanbase is more florid. We’ll come back to the US for something big we all know well, but I’ll leave you with a reasonable dose of doubts!!! Thank you guys for having us! instagram.com/_rbsn_ facebook.com/rbsnmusic #BuzzMusic
- “Don’t Belong Here” Is a Raw and Authentic Single from Wren Wilder’s New Debut Album
Growing up playing the violin and piano, Wren Wilder developed her love and passion for music. This Native to Northern NJ, singer/ songwriter continues to grow both musically and instrumentally. Wilder uses music as a means of communicating and “a tool to tell stories”. Wren is a triple threat and not only has an incredible jazz voice but also has a major in music production which is acquired at the Hartt Schools of Dance, Music, and Theatre. “Don’t Belong Here” is one of the tracks featured in Wilder’s recent album debut, released last month. First Flight was heavily inspired by artists such as; Tom Waits, Rufus Wainwright, Joni Mitchell, and Regina Spektor. Wren is no doubt an excellent addition to the indie-folk scene with a unique perspective on life and a pleasurable way of expressing these thoughts. Photo credit: Jessie Pariseau Her music aims to create an intimate and authentic storyline that is full of nostalgia and playfulness. Wilder has such a soulful and powerful voice that so beautifully fits against the whimsical background featured in “Don’t Belong Here”. She has a gift of evoking emotions of insecurity while at the same time putting the mind at ease with her calming and gentle voice, paired with a catchy and relatable chorus. I love how she redirects our attention from sadness towards the light and a happier ending. Listen to "Don't Belong Here" here. Photo credit: Eva Toorenent Hi Wren and welcome to BuzzMusic! Congratulations on the release of your first album. How does it feel to have your music out for the world to hear? Thank you so much! Having my album, First Flight, released and streaming is honestly something I still can't fully believe. It's this incredible feeling of being proud and fulfilled. As a bonus, I had the opportunity to work with a group of talented creatives who each taught and inspired me in a profound way. I experienced that working with the right people had strengthened my ideas and brought them to life. Is there a central theme to this album or story you are aiming to tell? First Flight is a representation of stories from my life. Some belong to me and others are borrowed from friends, but they all hold the same principle. It's really hard growing up... and sometimes we can make it easier on ourselves. It's about finding your voice, using it, and learning to move through life without holding back. "Over It" represents the regressive, child-like relationship with our parents; "The Leaving Game" is about trying to date in the millennial age of technology; and "To Forgive You" suggests making amends with that person from your childhood as you embark into adulthood. We form anger, pain, and disappointment at such a young age and then we carry it into our adult world. It is not necessary and sometimes we need to just feel it in order to let go. I don't believe in who we should be. I believe in who we are born to be. What was the inspiration behind “Don’t Belong Here”? I had just hit the peak of my career goals and suddenly I realized, "Why don't I feel complete?" and "There is something missing". What I realized is that I didn't belong in just one job or position; I also belonged somewhere else: making music. Don't Belong Here was my "problem-child" making this record and was rewritten almost 6 times. This track was so difficult for me because it was a manifestation of my journey to becoming a recording artist. Even after a lifetime of creating music, I had never fully permitted myself to invest my time, energy and finances into my music. On this record, I had to let all of that go and move forward without self-judgment and that was a process. I think we all are surrounded by opinions that instruct us how to operate, how careers should work, how the timeline of your life should pan out, and what all the rules are for everything. The one thing we don't learn from these voices is that It is possible to be more than one version of yourself. Currently building an image for yourself in the indie-folk scene, do you see yourself expanding towards other genres. Why or why not? Honestly, I have no idea. I am heavily influenced by so many different genres. When my friends go through playlists on my phone, there are like, "So... do you want to listen to Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Tom Waits, Outkast, Sublime, or Ella Fitzgerald?" haha! I have been dabbling in various genres throughout the years. I was a jazz vocals major, released electronic music, and now I'm writing on the ukulele. I like to think that no matter the genre, you can turn on my music and know Wren Wilder's at the mic. Thanks for chatting with us at BuzzMusic. What does the future for Wren Wilder look like? Thanks for having me. I've been so excited about this interview with you all. I'm currently working on a music video for "Worth the Cold" which will release this Valentine's Day, 2020. I'll be announcing dates for my first tour soon and my ukulele, "Fiona", & I are working diligently on releasing new music! instagram.com/WrenWilderMusic facebook.com/WrenWilderMusic soundcloud.com/wrenwilder wrenwilder.com #BuzzMusic
- We Hope Kalen Will Do Anything but “Disappear” After Dropping This Next Music Video
Based out of New York City, Kalen has been taking the world by storm over the past few years. She has previously traveled as part of KALEN & The Sky Thieves, performing rock music across the country. Since her decision to go solo, Kalen has been impressing audiences with her powerful vocals. She has performed in venues such as The Mint, located in LA, and Joe’s Pub in NYC. In addition to her capabilities as a vocalist, Kalen focuses on songwriting and has even received honorable mention in American Songwriter. With the hard work and passion that Kalen has for her music, there’s no telling how far she’ll go! Kalen’s newest release “Disappear” perfectly displays her soothing vocals, and is paired with a beautiful music video, featuring Kalen singing in a field of flowers. Accompanied by soft piano and acoustics, Kalen creates an angelic atmosphere with the imagery of the music video. She delivers her lyrics with intense emotion, unveiling the feeling of being completely caught up in someone, so much so that you can’t see clearly anymore. The images in the music video then become distorted and blurred as a brass solo begins, showing Kalen spinning on a sandy beach. Possibly in search of a clear mind or a way to make herself disappear. Kalen certainly brings intense character to the art she makes, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for her. Listen to Disappear by Kalen here Continue reading below for our interview with Kalen and the director of the music video, Lena! The visuals for 'Disappear' are extremely elegant. What was the inspiration behind this video? Lena (Director): When Kalen and I imagined shooting a music video in the super bloom, I was immediately brought back to one of my favorite films, Vera Chytilova's The Daisies which has a famous montage of two friends almost teleporting into flower fields - I liked the sense of nostalgia evoked in the song and interpreted it as 'nostalgia for frolicking'. However, as she lay in the poppies (btw no poppies were harmed - we found bare patches to set up on!) a Wizard of Oz narrative naturally began to emerge with Kalen entering a new world. For those who don't know the process behind music video creation, tell us a bit about your production from start to finish. Were there any hiccups along the way? Lena: Well, this was a real 'run and gun' situation. Kalen and I wanted to collaborate while she was out performing in LA. We had discussed doing a larger project but ultimately decided to hold off and just go out and shoot something ourselves. So, we're driving out to the super bloom, and Kalen's doing her own make-up in my truck, and then we're hauling equipment up really steep hills (we wanted to get past most of the tourists who only go up about 100 ft.), and then I'm controlling playback and operating the camera and we're just kinda seeing what works. The beauty was everything we kind of discussed before we got there got thrown out in the edit! The great stuff happened when both of us were present in the location, pushing past any frustration about our limited resources and just experimenting. It was a really good lesson for me because I have a tendency to over plan! The only hiccup was that we got out there a little early in the day and had to wait for the sun to get lower. We didn't bring snacks but thankfully, there was an ice cream truck at the bottom of the hill! What was your favorite part of creating the video? Lena: I just said, the ice cream truck. No but really, Kalen's lyrics are so evocative and they really challenge memory and experience, so I get to not just create a music video story but somehow recreate a backlog of memories and stories to accompany her lyrics. Also, she's down to dance like a crazy person on the beach if I say it looks cool and you don't find that in just any musician. Kalen: Haha. Honestly the entire process was a joy. Collaborating with dear friends is one of the best parts of life. We got to frolic in a field of poppies and dance like lunatics on the beach. The latter was actually challenging. I’m not a dancer and the beach was full of people watching me like I’d lost my mind but I felt like I was getting to the story truth of the song which felt honest. What's next for Kalen as we enter a new year? Kalen: For starters, Lena and I have been working together on a bigger budget, bigger production music video for my band, Death By Piano. That video (Do I?) and EP (Hellish EP) will come out next year. I’ll also be releasing 4 new solo songs that I’m very excited to share with the world. Another band that I sing and play keys for, Late Sea, will also be releasing a new EP. And I will be having a baby. :) Instagram FaceBook #BuzzMusic

- Samar Releases Powerful Single “Stop Killing Us”
Samar recently released his single titled “Stop Killing Us” and this record was extremely powerful. Recently, police brutality has become a rising issue in America with various unarmed shootings occurring towards the black community out of racism. This has sparked various different movements such as “Black Lives Matter”. Therefore, for Samar to courageously release a song that touches on a topic that needs to be touched on was commendable and immediately garnered our attention towards the record. His intense delivery cleanly executed flow, and passion behind his articulation made “Stop Killing Us” abundantly more captivating and compelling for us. Samar had us in-tuned with the song from the moment it started until the moment it finished. Samar showcased his skills to us as a rapper while also demonstrating a true authentic display of fight. “Stop Killing Us” is a substantial song with powerful dynamics that made us fall absolutely in love with every component of this record. There are not many rappers who speaking on real-life issues that are happening in various communities today. These issues impact our youth and our future generations in more ways than we think You can listen to “Stop Killing Us” by Samar here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Samar! Tell us more about your background and upbringing. How was it growing up? I am an independent rap artist from Minneapolis, Mn. By way of Syracuse, NY. I grew up in a single-parent household along with 3 older siblings, I saw a lot growing up at an early age and always had a dream of one day being able to use my talents to some how to be able to change not just my family's condition but also my communities. Before I was rapping I was a B-boy I was the kid in the neighborhood always break dancing and doing back on old matresses outside lol. Hip hop is in me I been involved with it for as long as I can remember. What inspired you to write “Stop Killing Us”? The message behind this song seems to be powerful! I was inspired to write "Stop Killing Us" because I'm tired of seeing my people getting killed by police officers or by our own kind. One of my childhood friends was shot and killed by the Minneapolis police in 1991. His name was Tycel Nelson, every time that I hear about a black person being killed by a cop I automatically think about him. I think that it's time for people to come together and be better examples for the next generation. What was the most challenging aspect of creating “Stop Killing Us” for you and why? I really didn't have any challenges writing "Stop Killing Us", because all I had to do was tell the truth about what's going on in the world that we live in. I didn't have to make anything up. How would you describe the creative process behind “Stop Killing Us”? A lot of times when I find a beat that I really like the words and concepts just come to me naturally, it's as if the beat tells me what to say. This is my version of Marvin Gaye's song "what's going on" but it's just put together in the form of rap music. What’s next for you Samar? What's next for me is to continue to push my creativity the best way I know how to. I also have a website called skywaytrends.com where I am designing and selling merch online. My first designs are my stop killing our shirts, hoodies, hats, and stickers. But more designs will be coming soon. instagram.com/samar_moseley #BuzzMusic
- Shantoi Is One to Watch With Her New Single “Stuck up”!
Born I’m Jamaica but raised in The Bronx & Manhattan - today we have “Stuck Up”, the new single from Shantoi! Music has always been with Shantoi and we aren’t surprised as she kills it with “Stuck Up”. Her father was a famous Jamaican artist (Bunny General) and she has been singing since she could speak. Which makes sense, as the expression is very important to Shantoi. The song “Stuck Up” is a true Hip Hop delivery and kicks in with a vocal performance that is a force to be reckoned with right from the beginning. Lyrically, the song speaks to Shantoi being “Stuck Up” in knowing exactly what she wants from a man, which to us, isn’t asking for much and it’s always amazing when people know what they deserve. Musically, the song has classic Hip Hop elements to it, while also feeling totally new. Production-wise, this track checks off all of the boxes and is where it needs to be in today’s industry standards. The vocal melodies provided by Shantoi in “Stuck Up” are completely infectious and are stuck in your head all day long, so please be careful! The song wraps up and you feel totally reborn and satisfied, closing at 3:34. All and all, we are very pleased with this new track from the very special and talented Shantoi - “Stuck Up” is one for the books and you should absolutely get on this ASAP. You and your friends will be happy that you did, brought to you by Buzz Music! Listen to "Stuck Up" here. Hi Shantoi, welcome to BuzzMusic! As someone who was born in Jamaica, how does the music scene there compare to the music scene in NY? I feel it’s not a huge difference. The only thing I would say with New York compared to there, in my opinion, is I feel New York gives artists like myself a lead way to be able to be an artist without having to be forced into being more of a sex symbol because I’m a female. Your vocal ability is stunning. When did you decide you wanted to pursue music? I would honestly say when I got to high school We're big fans of your song "Stuck Up". It suggests there's a story behind this song. What inspired it? Well, I wanted a song that people could relate to and although this song does not pertain to my personal life, the lyrics behind the type of women it represents are how I am. I am stuck up and I D.o.n.t need a man for anything except one who loves me for me. Tell us a bit about the creation process of "Stuck Up". Did you face any challenges along the way? Creating stuck I feel the challenge was honestly bringing a different type of swag to the Adlibs and background vocals. That was a little different for me which is why I recorded the song twice before giving it a final yes to put it out. What's next for Shantoi as we enter a new year? I’m hoping to create a music video for the song “Stuck Up.” I’m also hoping to create one more single that gives you club banger vibes, as well as finish this E.P by springtime because it’s long overdue. instagram.com/shannivintage_ #BuzzMusic
