- Sit Back and Chill with the Lyrical Offerings of Rap Artist CWhit
CWhit has a certain sense of confidence integrated within his vocal execution. It's a quality like this that makes CWhit memorable to us. His confidence never waivers, and we ultimately respect him artistically as a result. CWhit further gains respect through his goal as an artist, and how these goals call for the betterment of others. CWhit puts emphasis on making real changes within the lives of his listeners, and in a broader sense, he wants to convey his own personal journey and conflictions to listeners. One of his most recent tracks, "Lovher", takes on a reflective atmosphere, which we found challenged us as listeners to reflect on the thoughts of CWhit. He approaches his track "Lovher" with more of a laid-back and mellow execution. "Lovher" maintains consistent velocity all throughout, and the vocal delivery from CWhit remains pretty steady as the track goes on. It's the aspect of consistency that makes the track feel relaxed and simple. CWhit isn't about complexity, he wants to tell his truth in the most elemental way possible. "Lovher" exhibits the hardships CWhit is currently dealing with as a man, and he attempts to communicate his understanding to listeners. You could definitely categorize CWhit as a philosophical guy, which elevates his artistry to an entirely new level. He has a magnitude of emotional intelligence, which aids in him connecting with listeners. "Lovher" is the type of track you can sit back, listen to, and immediately experience the story of CWhit in the laxest way possible. Discover the sound of CWhit in "Lovher" here. Hi CWhit! We listened to "Lovher", and thought the tracks consistent flow is what made it feel so incredibly chill. Was this the atmosphere you were hoping listeners would feel as they listened to the track? Yeah, it was to an extent. I wanted the song to be chill but energetic at the same time but I didn’t want the infliction of my vocals to be the source of energy of the song so I used a unique flow accompanied with relatable lyrics that made the songs appeal intensify which gave the energy I didn’t want the vocals to give if that makes sense Lol. Did you find that you changed your mind in the midst of writing and recording "Lovher", or does your vision typically remain fixed throughout those stages? Well, I wouldn’t say I changed my mind through the creation that led to what is but I will say that I was on a narrative journey that began as personal desires of a perfect love then transition to the fears and insecurities of love that concluded the success of the love would be based on effort and faith matched by actions. Can you describe the genre elements that you personally believe characterize your sound? This question really made me smile because I’m a fan of so many genres and artists. From James Brown, Prince, and Micheal to the Beatles back to BB King through Hall and Oates and Al Green. Then you mix that with the study of Biggie Tupac The No Limit Soldiers Bone Thugs and Harmony Outkast Missy Elliot Eminem and Nas. With me being such a big fan of music I draw inspiration from acts in Pop, R&B, Gospel Blues, Soultrap, Hip Hop and Rap so characterizing it into one genre gets tricky. How do you typically describe your artistic outlook to others? What kind of artist do you see yourself progressing on to be? I tell people that my outlook is based on an unbiased general honest assessment of the situation as best possible with retrospect to all truths known of the matter. I see myself progressing into an artist that will continue to grow in music. As I grow my overarching goal is to become an artist that helped the world think better. How do you see yourself changing artistically within 2020? Are you hoping to release similar soundings, comparable to what was released in 2019, or are you looking to change around your sound? In 2020 I will be changing a lot about my music. I will be releasing music that will have a better sound with a better quality of music and artistic expressions as well. In 2020 my goal will be to make music that can be enjoyed by people who may not even speak the language. That’s the thing I love about music if it’s good music no matter what language it’s in it will sound good to the ears. As far as my style and sound go I’m going to be exploring and pushing my limits. There are so many artists nowadays who mimic one another in either storyline delivery or adlibs. As long as I don’t fall into the trends and work on a clearer and cleaner sound any change that comes. From that is gonna be welcomed and greatly appreciated. cwhitoc.com #BuzzMusic
- #NewMusic: Jxhn Dxe Levels up with New Single “2 in 1”
From Denver, Colorado - today we have the lyrical mastermind known as Jxhn Dxe (pronounced John Doe) and his new single “2 in 1”. The song “2 in 1” starts out a vibe setting synth that then rips in with the hard vocal performance provided by Jxhn Dxe. He mentions he has to level up, and then you are hit with the sample of Super Mario in the game where you literally “level up”, clever! The song flows freely for the length of the track, hitting hard with a great vocal performance and a beat that is enough for any set of ears to follow along to. Melody wise, I keep using the word flow, but sadly that’s the best way to describe everything that’s happening in this track! It all seems so natural, and that’s no surprise since apparently Jxhn Dxe has been making rhythmic movements since being in his mother’s womb. Not kidding! The song is short-lived and leaves listeners hanging on for more, closing at 2 minutes and 21 seconds. The good news is that this track is part of an 11 song album, so there is plenty of music to go around. Do yourself a favor and check out “2 in 1” by Jxhn Dxe today! You will be lifted up to a liberating place and hopefully, you can find clarity, as this is what this incredible artist is seeking to do with his music. Listen to "2 in 1" here. Hey Jxhn Dxe and welcome to BuzzMusic! 2019 has been a big year for you. Can you share your biggest accomplishment thus far with us? My biggest accomplishment would be actually doing it. I was really nervous about starting the music, I’ve always been a fan of it. I never knew I would have the courage to put my vulnerability out there like this. Your song "2 in 1" is such a vibe! Can you tell us the inspiration behind the track? I wanted to make something smooth that just flowed throughout the beat. 2 in 1 signifies the new and old me becoming 1. You need your experiences in order to create a future and you need to look forward to a future so you have to gain experience hence 2 in 1. "2 in 1" showcases your lyrical ability heavily. When you're writing your music, what's the process like? It’s literally a feeling that gets exploited at that moment. I have to know why I feel that way at that moment in order to release that experience to the public. Located in Denver, Colorado, how does the music scene there help shape your sound? I don’t think we have a sound yet, we have a lot of talent here and it’s so different. That’s what pushes me to me because everybody in Colorado stays true to themselves. What's next for Jxhn Dxe as 2019 comes to an end? Evolving, I'm still new to the music scene so I’m still finding who I am. Expect a lot of music on the process! instagram.com/jxhn__dxe twitter.com/Jxhdxe1 #BuzzMusic
- Feel Expressive and Stimulated With Maxim Adams in Single "Self Made"
LA native Maxim Adams is the type of artist that'll change your perspective on Neo-Soul. The artistic strategy applied to Maxim's tracks is incredibly light and airy. We find that Maxim Adams is able to consistently release tracks that make a statement and offer such a different experience from a listeners point of view. Maxim's most recent music has been embedding more of a warm sensation that we personally soak up entirely. The most recent single, "Self Made", offers a colorful and glowing impression that aroused our senses almost instantly. Right from the beginning of "Self Made", you'll appreciate the dynamics embedded into the production and overall beat. We all know Maxim's voice is like silk, and once it's blended into the collection of synths, the product is transcending. Maxim Adams provides that visual escape with "Self Made". We found ourselves lost in the ethereal persona of Maxim Adams. Once we listen further into the track, we're introduced by the vocal offerings of Cici, and a hip/hop introduction from artist Dwade. All three of them offer pivotal parts to the track, which you can clearly hear as your coarse throughout "Self Made". Our favorite aspect of the song had to be those vivid and striking synths, especially at the beginning, but also in the entirety of "Self Made". That's largely our favorite part of Maxim Adams as well as the ability of Maxim's voice to perfectly complement those present synths. We're definitely intrigued to see what he'll be up to next artistically, so we're truly keeping our eyes out for any future releases! Listen to "Self Made" here. Hey there Maxim Adams! Thanks for coming to BuzzMusic to talk with us about your recent releases! How has it felt since your release of "Self Made"?! Did the track express itself in the way you intended it to? The feeling is so hard to describe sometimes. I'm feeling very good and excited about the release of "Self Made" off of my album DETAIL. The track came out exactly how I imagined it would. The first lyrics of the song for me say it all. "Self-made, Confident!" I just love what that means and I hope people feel the same way as I do when I listen to the song. The eccentric energy packed into "Self Made" caught our attention right away. We appreciated the integration of sounds from a listener's standpoint. How did you receive inspiration to blend the multitude of soundings with the track? I am originally a guitar play and play in a rock band called Deep Fryd Dynamite, who is about to release an LP in the near future. My true love and passion aside from that style of music is R&B/Soul music. Honestly when I was introduced to Kaytranada is when everything turned around for me. With the smooth sliding synth sounds and tight groovy drum rhythms, I fell in love with that fresh, high energy sound. I'd like to think that my music is somewhat of a fusion being inspired by my strong listening history and love of 80s music and modern Neo Soul. How do you think "Self Made" compares to music you've released in your early artist days? I think it's next level! I don't think it even comes close to any other music I've made in this vibe before. This whole album is the start of this new sound I fell in love with. Having CiCi and Dwade featuring on the track and all throughout the album really allows for this type of sound I hear in my head to be represented in the proper way. Both of their vocals give such a strong, magical vibe to the music. Tonally creating air and gravity in the melodies and hooks. As a Neo-Soul artist, what are some challenges you believe you face when curating your expressive sounding? I think that there are so many vibes that stem from this style it's really important to find a sound or patch you like and run with it, while also trying to create an original sound at the same time. It was great to hear more about the background side of "Self Made". Thanks again for going in-depth on your artistry! Are you planning any shows/upcoming releases in the near future?! Lots of new projects in the works featuring the same artists and many more! A couple of small eps coming up with some couplets as well. Followed by my next full-length solo album which is coming to the end of its production already! Thanks so much for the time and opportunity for me to share my inspiration and passion with you. #BuzzMusic
- Mokotow Made His 2019 Stellar!
Sometimes they say let the music speak for itself, but when there’s a phenom like the one we’re about to introduce, that theory goes dead. The illegitimate son of musicians fleeing Cold War-torn Poland for the United States, an obsessive gambler (not in the monetary sense), firm believer in life's one guarantee, founding member and frontman of the bombastic blues outfit Butchers of Sky Valley, Mike Mokotow has staged another introduction into his small world meant for those that understand the necessity of solitude, unabashed vulnerability, and the underlying nobility of soul that comes from opposing the odds. Going by the stage name” Mokotow”, his cinematic ten-song set is an ode to the outsider and challenging disillusionment. Mokotow has recently caught the ears and eyes from other platforms, receiving tremendous praise for the very sounds he creates artistically. One of his releases, titled "Domino", was claimed by AllMusic to be “..a brooding shot of bluesy indie-folk with cinematic indie rock underpinnings". The production of this album is what’s alluring. "Domino" is the type of record where you can tell tons of thought and understanding was packed into it. From a listener's standpoint, we view the stylings of Mokotow as eclectic. Mokotow feeds into the already growing stamina he has as an artist, which amplifies his overall artistic presence. Talking logistics of "Domino", the album itself was written, recorded, and produced by Mokotow in his attic studio. Jeff Berner mixed the album and portrayed those ghostly characteristics embedded throughout the tracks. Mokotow supplied an intimate vibe throughout "Domino", ensuring that listeners felt charmed and on their toes! Mokotow is as unique as his name, and his future career is seeming as bright as light could be! Listen to the soundings of Mokotow here. Welcome back to BuzzMusic Mokotow! Mind going more in-depth about your upbringing and background? What initially encouraged you to pursue music? Thanks for having me back. The only reason I'm here in the States is that my parents, who were musicians, fled Poland just before marshal law broke out in late 1981. A lot of families and immigrant tribulations later we settled into a densely populated Polish community just outside of Manhattan in Jersey. My parents were supposed to lay ground in Chicago but the nightclub that they were contracted with got burnt down soon after they arrived. In Jersey, we were able to live around the block from a nightclub that my parents ended up getting a new contract with as the resident act and eventually took some ownership of the nightlife business there. It was a cultural hub for the entire community. Many of the professional and semi-professional soccer players that emigrated from Poland lived upstairs in individual 8x8 foot row quarters. They, in turn, lived downstairs at the lounge bar during the day still in shorts, socks, and sandals no matter the season. The attached restaurant served food throughout the day. And at night on weekends, the whole building came alive with everyone from the community attending the nightclub portion of the building. It was the community's way of letting go regardless of the realities of living away from their homeland and the struggles they endured week after week. There was camaraderie in the commonality of their struggles, among friends old, new arrivals and the interwoven drama of growing families. That's where I grew up, amongst this community that kept close, debated everything and resolved it all in this setting that primarily was driven by drinking, dancing and most importantly live music. I never outright intended to be involved in music or dreamt of it since it was always around me. If anything I rebelled against it by not paying much attention since it was my parents' profession. But you can't fight what's in your bones. There was so much subconscious absorption of it all too I think. The stage, performing, watching how people need it. The "letting go' for the musicians and clubgoers. I was a late bloomer in the sense of finding music that truly compelled me as a teen. I mostly ignored what was going on around me and just stuck with whatever made me feel that pang and need for more. Eventually, I kept looking for music that was mostly in my head and once I heard myself having something to say I went down this path, selfish or unselfish as it may be. But I do love having created something from nothing. And said something or expressed something in a song that drives it home as few other art forms can. It's the closest I think I could ever feel connected to some idea of 'legacy' or to what was felt, experienced, at that point in your life. My kids will be able to hear this music decades from now and who knows what kind of form it will take on considering all the history that is yet to happen from now till then. Knowing your sound is so intricate, what’s one of the challenges you face when making your music? Growing. Knowing I don't want to do what I just did again. I don't have to think much as my gut ends up driving me in some different direction each time. I can feel the pull take me to something new. That creates a lot of challenges because there's little room to rehash things but that's exciting because it goes back to that concept of growth. That growth is most probably the main reward in all this. And in order to attain it, it's about letting life in to take its time with you. Because in order for me to sing some lyrics they have to ring so true to me that the music and lyrics aren't just that. So much so that it all pushes me to where it needs to be with little thought. I think the biggest challenge is having that patience, of knowing when you're ready and have enough of that creative soup in your head and chest to start molding things into reality, where it feels like your building an extension of yourself again, but with more precision, more choreographed. And in some ways more you. It's rewarding if and when it happens. Also, a big challenge is I'm not trained on any instrument. I have no idea what I'm doing half the time so there's a lot of experimentation there to translate what's going on in my head into reality. Sometimes fun, sometimes not so much. What was the major theme behind your song “Running On All Four”? The title of the song came from my wife and I put our dog down many many years ago. The dog had one gimp foot in her latter years and I can't remember which one of us came up with it but had it written on her cremation box. The phrase stuck with me and a few years later when I was writing this song for this record, which is ultimately a body of work for my son, I had wanted to touch on what it's like to endure disillusionment and loss but with the fortitude and grace of something more primal than just acceptance. Did you experiment with any new arrangements in your record “Running On All Four”? I had started the song with only the background sounds, the atmospheric pads, the repetitive 'tug boat' like bassline and a ghostly little melody in my head. That body sat there for a while. I was super hungry to make a song on this record that had a strong Bossanova groove rhythm and one day as I was toying with that vocal melody over this atmospheric piece I had tried a Bossanova rhythm over it and it gelled so well that I knew I had the bed of the song. From that point on I wanted to make it weave in and out of arrangements, with an underlying groove hard in place, but be loose in how all of the other many many parts and sounds you can hear (if you pay close attention) weave in and out of the song's frame. I love this one so much. I was listening to a lot of A Moon Shaped Pool by Radiohead at the time so I think it played a part in that 'weaving' aspect. How would you describe the songwriting approach in "Do I Haunt The Ways”? This one totally leads from the vocal, which was written first and then just the simple accompanying Fender Rhodes complimenting it. This song is what started the whole thing (the record). I wanted to write the most croonerish vocal line I could come up with that was moody as hell, snappy, had enough melody but could contain and develop some melodrama as I sing and get lost in the lyrics. The lyrics here are what made me open up throughout the song, letting the motions grow and grow. With that, I came up with the idea of having the last third or so of the song bang-out with a full orchestra of strings. I wanted to have the message of the song come out with that sweep bombast of strings but not overtly performed. Still that sweet sorrow straddling some hint at defiance. I wanted to sing something that felt real and that made me want to sing it all the time. I just posted a video of me on Instagram singing it drunkenly in some Budapest street. I wanted that song to be one that I can sing many times over, let it grow with me over the years, maybe even the meaning and the message if I did it service. What’s next for the one and only Mokotow? Excited to say the idea for the next record's been in my head midway while making the last. It's a progression from what you hear here on "Domino" with the lyrics being even more so in mind of that 'simple to the heart' and 'to be weathered with years' approach. Conceptually I'm even more excited about this one, partly because it builds on the last but also because it hits home real hard, in a different way without giving too much. I had written a book of aphorisms and I'd say a third of them went into "Domino" as lyrics but the other third or so are forming into this next record. I have a feeling it will translate to people more since the last one was so personal. I'm also looking to partner up with someone on this one. The last one I did by myself wearing many hats. I want to see what happens now if I build on that with a trusted partner or two. At the moment I'm talking with a producer who mixed the last record about working together more in-depth at the beginning stage. But I'm definitely getting that swirl in my head and in my stomach, and the meat of it all swimming in there so I can feel that growth coming. It's an exciting spot to be in with the whole process, especially after going solo to define my way. Uncertainty was a big thing in the last one. This one's about confronting fears, especially considering the exciting & chaotic times we've been in lately! Informs the best of ourselves anyways. That said thanks again for listening and giving a shit! facebook.com/mokotowmokotow/ instagram.com/mokotowmokotow/ #BuzzMusic
- Adam Fitz Lays His Emotions on the Table with New Beautiful Single, “Can’t Pardon Me”
From Chicago, we are in love with the new beautifully written and sung masterpiece from Adam Fitz, “Can’t Pardon Me”. The song is peacefully gorgeous and gives you a sense of betterment. Musically, the song is a beautiful fingerpicking guitar work with a tasteful lead on top. The guitar work dances in your ears and is rich in beauty, taking you away to a better place and a wonderful landscape where you can see yourself in a better place as a person. Lyrically, the song is begging of forgiveness and it pulls on your heartstrings. With lyrics such as “please excuse the man I used to be”, you can’t help but feel the pain that has been caused and felt by Adam Fitz. There feels like a sense of remorse for something he has done and can’t forgive himself for it. The delivery is so real, I’m not sure exactly what happened but you can tell that he has had enough time to live with this pain and should probably be pardoned for these mistakes. The song overall is a beautiful piece and the delivery is incredibly honest. All and all, a wonderful song that can be enjoyed by anyone, especially people who need/ seek forgiveness. We have all been there and it’s a song that can help you through a tough time in your life. Listen to Adam Fitz and his amazing new song “Can’t Pardon Me” today. - #NowPlaying - Cultivo “Telltale”
Cultivo released their single titled “TellTale”, a song that we loved due to a variety of different reasons. Starting off with the instrumentation of this song, “TellTale” had this smooth-jazz mixed with soft rock and blended with a nice hint of blues. We were able to hear multiple different instruments through the production, live instruments at that. From horn instruments to drums, all the way to piano playing, “TellTale” showcases augmented talent through natural instrumental playing. The arrangement was unique. “TellTale” goes through multiple transitions like a smooth rollercoaster ride that goes up and down through dynamics. The vocals in “TellTale” were pleasantly soothing. The singer had a special individualistic voice that reminded me a lot like the popular singer Kali Uchis. It was atmospheric, dreamlike, and also sultry. With the fusion of small rap, “TellTale” is a multi-faceted single with different components that makes up the song. It isn’t a singular surface record, and it’s equipped with a number of elements bound to mesmerize you. From the unpredictable arrangement, the soothing vocals, and the relaxing vibe, “TellTale” is the perfect song to create a settling mood in which you can listen to the song and become as one with the music. Listen to “TellTale” by Cultivo here Welcome to BuzzMusic Cultivo! Can you tell us a bit about your formation as a band? How did it come together? Hi there! Cultivo was founded when Ian Adams (guitar) & Fernando Torres (bass) joined the same cover band and felt a strong musical connection. This collaboration sparked the idea to make their own music instead of with the addition of Mark Taylor (drums). After a few months of jamming, they found Rugile Deveikyte (vocals) when she answered the ad online and after coming down to a rehearsal made a decision to join right away. From there, every other member just listened to the stuff the band was making and wanted to join. Fabio Sousa (trombone) was invited by Rugile, & last but not least Ben Carthy (Trumpet) joined when Mark invited him to a rehearsal. Most of us didn’t know each other until we started playing together since most of us weren’t local to the area – Fernando (bass) is from Ecuador, Rugile (vocals) from Lithuania, Fabio (Trombone) from Portugal, Ben, Ian & Mark from all parts of the UK respectfully. But once we started playing, we all just really clicked. Tell us about your song “TellTale”. What inspired the title of this record and why? Lyrically Telltale is about someone from Rugile’s past, someone that she used to know. Rugile’s lyrics are always born from her own experiences, she couldn’t write anything else. However, the person who Rugile is calling Telltale is herself. She is the storyteller in the song, who is judging this other person for his behavior and his approach to life. How would you describe your arrangements in “TellTale”? We are always writing our songs as a group, together, so it’s usually a very intuitive process when it comes to arranging. The rhythm section usually puts a lot of work into finding the right groove, there’s a lot of experimentation and development of small ideas. Final arrangements, however, are made by the vocals. What’s interesting with Telltale is that it has a variety of grooves and sections that don’t adhere to traditional pop song structures. For instance, the song takes a left turn when Fabio takes over with his rap which is accompanied by a charging key change in the rhythm section. What was the most challenging aspect for you during the creative process of “TellTale” and in what ways did you overcome the obstacles? The most challenging aspect was finding the right structure. We spent a lot of time experimenting with all the different parts of the song, making sure that they all work together and that the song flows. What are you looking forward to in 2020 Cultivo? Telltale is just the beginning of something we’ve been working on since the very start of 2019. We can’t say just yet, but we have big plans for 2020 - we’ve got quite a few tunes in the pipeline, that will be released… exponentially. facebook.com/CultivoUK instagram.com/cultivouk #BuzzMusic
- IV's Smooth-Sailing Voice Flows Flawlessly on “Silhouette”
IV released the single titled “Silhouette” and this was most definitely a vibe that you don’t want to miss out on. The entire arrangement of this record was riveting and IV’s voice was truly melodic and charismatically driven. What I loved most about listening to “Silhouette” was how it gave me a classic R&B vibe. The song was driven by smooth and sensual vocal dynamics mixed in with a promising lush and flavorful energy. The lyrics were catchy and complimented the style of the song well. “Silhouette” is the perfect vibe record that can be shared with a special someone. We all have them playlists in our phones where we just reflect on our love life and whose currently fulfilling us at that moment. “Silhouette” is perfect for that collection of music to dedicate to a boo! Not only were the vocals enchanting, but the rap delivery was smooth-sailing and on point. It flowed beautifully with the beat and didn’t add too much aggression or subdue to the delivery which was impressive. IV cadence and metaphors reflect a great amount of skill he has as an artist. The way he rode the beat to this song while also managing to remain on key while singing and giving us transitional vocals was groundbreaking! “Silhouette” is definitely the R&B song of the year! You can listen to “Silhouette” by IV here. Welcome to BuzzMusic IV! What was it like growing up and where did you first find your music inspiration? Thank you for the warm welcome lol growing up wasn’t anything out of the ordinary I come from a good family & was shown all the love I could’ve needed as an only child. My first love was music & coupled with my old soul + countless car rides w/ my family that included everyone from Otis Blackwell to Drake and everybody from every era in between, lead to the sound I’ve developed today. Talk to us about your record “Silhouette”. What was the major theme surrounding this song? Silhouette is a story essentially surrounding the phase after a relationship ends where you start to reminisce & miss the person, regardless of the circumstances that lead to the breakup. The story ends on a note of “even if we aren’t together I’ll still have a love for you and be there when you need.” Which is very much the type of person I am, if I ever said “I love you” I meant it. What inspired you to write “Silhouette”? Silhouette was a track that wrote itself really, like most of my music it starts with the instrumental, the instrumental is telling the story, all I do is translate & add elements of my life experiences into it to create a sound that’s relatable and authentic. What was your personal favorite element to “Silhouette” and why? Easily the 808 glides. When they hit you can almost feel it in your chest. It’s a feeling I’ll never get tired of. What’s next for you IV? Next is the exposure phase, I’ve been off the grid honing my craft to the best of my ability and now I’m finally ready to share it with the world, being a perfectionist means I’m my own worst critic so it was crucial for me to have my sound as close to perfect as I could possibly get it. So stay tuned & expect big things from me in 2020. instagram.com/izsingIV twitter.com/izsingIV #BuzzMusic
- Kerry Feeney Fuses R&B and Pop with New Song “Thinking About You”
Today we are kicking off our day with the infectious second-ever song from British R&B and Pop artist Kerry Feeney and her new song “Thinking About You”. Kerry Feeney only made her debut earlier this year and the Liverpool, UK artist shows that there is something in the water where she’s from. Maybe it’s being so close to the ocean, but Liverpool has produced The Beatles and several other amazing greats in music. The fact that “Thinking About You” is only the second song from Kerry Feeney is a wild fact of life. The song opens with beautiful synth pads then flys into the song kicking in with percussion, bass and the stunning vocal performance provided by Kerry Feeney. “How’d you know I’d be here, I only told the moon” is the hook in the song and it’s repeated a few times, allowing you to easily sing along! After the first chorus, we are treated with the well time and placed Hip Hop cameo provided by Ryan Bronson. The cameo adds a certain spice to the song that is a key ingredient. The song “Thinking About You” is the perfect length at 3 minutes and leaves the listeners hanging on for more. Expect a lot from the amazingly talented Kerry Feeney as she builds her sonic story with more and more music. We are excited to see where her music career takes her and we will be cheering her on! Listen to "Thinking About You" here. Thanks for talking with us today at Buzz Music! “Thinking About You” is your second ever song to be released! A lot of people could agree that your songwriting is fairly advanced, considering. What inspired you to follow this sound? Thank you for having me! I've been writing for many years and I've tried out lots of different sounds, for a while I was a jazz singer and writer, but when it comes to the production side of things I enjoy making chill, RnB style music and the placement of my voice probably suits pop the best. I must write half a dozen songs a month and most of them are never heard, but from doing this I'm finding my sound definitely. I feel like Thinking About You follows on from Baby Girl Know It nicely and the next songs to be released in 2020 also follow this sound I've found. The song features the cameo of Ryan Bronson. Who is he to you and how did the feature come about? Ryan is an incredible artist from New York, I'm a fan of his music and I love how he connects with his fans. He's a very sweet and hardworking guy and I'm so happy to have worked with him. We connected on social media first and found that we go about making music in the same way so it was easy to bring the song to life and I was super proud when putting the track out for the world. What is the most inspiring part of being from Liverpool, UK? I'm from Warrington originally which isn't too far away, I grew up in Warrington and that small town really shaped who I am today. A year ago I moved to Liverpool as there are more opportunities for music and I love Liverpool as a city! Liverpool really supports independent artists and there's such love for music so it's a beautiful environment to be in. Also, I've already met so many incredible people! - Gripper Lee 3 Blast Us into “Rock N Roll Absolution” with New Single
Today we are given the gift of true grit Rock N Roll from Sussex, UK group Gripper Lee 3 and we are here for it! The song's name is “Rock N Roll Absolution” and that’s what we have to listen to. This song starts out with exactly what you’d expect, rocking jams and riffs that are blues inspired on the guitar. Tone-wise, there isn’t a whole lot of gain, but that also helps the band stand out and be different than more traditional Rock music. The guitars make you slowly hang your head in the bluesy- slower-paced Rock N Roll anthem. Vocally, there is a lot of grit and you can tell that the singer is coming from a place of experience in the genre and in life, selling it all with a fantastic delivery. Around the 2:40 mark, we are hit with the bomb of a guitar solo that goes down like a nice glass of scotch while simultaneously melting your face. The melodies are infectious and stay with you for the rest of your day, as you find yourself tapping along and singing the song under your breath, even hours after! The song ends with a drowned out repeating riff and phrase “I want to die in you” and makes it impossible to not sing along while listening, wherever you may be. Do yourself a favor and listen to “Rock N Roll Absolution” here. Thanks for talking with us today at Buzz Music! Your song “Rock N Roll Absolution” is super blues-driven. Where did the sonic inspiration come from for this track? You’re very welcome. Thanks for asking. Crofty, our guitarist came up with this one. He’s very much from a blues and country background and loves playing fingerstyle. The dirty opening riff sounds like classic blues, and is very much a statement of intent, looking to grab the listener’s attention and drag them into the song. There’s a sleazy quality to it too, which goes with the frankly weird refrain of “I want to die in you.” It’s a love song really though, and the main chord progression and chorus have more than a hint of glam rock. When I heard it (Richie, bass), I was put in mind of maybe Lou Reed around the time of his “Transformer” album. We’ve gone big on backing vocals for the chorus, and the layering is reminiscent of that glam rock re-imagining of doo-wop and rock’n’roll harmonies: the sort of thing David Bowie does on “Drive-In Saturday”, for example. It seems like you guys are having a lot of fun. What is the main objective with this track, record, and band? Oh yes, we really are having a lot of fun with this. We’ve all been around a long time, have played in loads of different bands, and we’re at the point now where we suddenly realize that we probably haven’t got that many years left, so we might as well just go for it and have a blast. All of our music has an underlying theme of the inevitability of death, but we try to make it a joyous pessimism, to really celebrate the time we have. The album title, “Glorious Insignificance”, comes from a line in this song. We’re all too aware of how small we are in terms of the universe, the unimaginable vastness of time and space, and of how brief our existence is, but we accept that and revel in it. How long have you all known each other for and when did the band begin? We met by chance in 2016, three and a half years ago, after being introduced by the owner of our local record store. We clicked as players straight away, but the band was almost finished before it started when Gripper, our drummer, was badly injured in a serious motorcycle accident. It took a long time to recover from, and he had to learn a whole new drumming technique, having metal plates in his smashed wrists. Once we were back playing again though, that brush with doom really gave us the impetus to get on and write and record our songs, and we haven’t stopped since. Who was your producer for this album and why was that choice made? We’ve made three albums to date, and they’ve all been recorded at Broadoak Studios in Bexhill, our home town in East Sussex, UK, with producer Harvey Summers. The initial choice was really based on location, and that the studio had an excellent live room and some lovely vintage mics and equipment. We very much prefer to all play live together when we record. Harvey is an easy person to work with and has an amazing ear and attention to detail, along with boundless patience and good humor. There was no question of not going back to Broakoak Studios for this album. Lastly, are there any plans to tour or play live? We love playing live, and we’re told we have an engaging if slightly worrying stage presence. We tend to hold the attention of a room. There’s lots of banter and plenty of alarming dance moves and guitar jousting. We play regularly in our own area around the south coast of England, with occasional forays into Brighton and London. We’d love to go further afield and try our music out on new audiences. We’re old school (we don’t use sat-nav), and we’re local everywhere, so if we get a chance to play your town we’ll be there like a shot. Hope to see you soon! facebook.com/gripperlee3 #BuzzMusic
- Gina Naomi Baez Releases the Perfect Christmas Hit with “Winter Wish”
After receiving viral applause due to her parody remix of Truth Hurts x Lizzo, Gina Naomi Baez has released her latest single titled “Winter Wish” and everything about this song captivated me fully! From her delightful vibe to her passionate delivery all the way down to the seasonal production, “Winter Wish” is like Christmas meets pop! The striking melodies in the chorus create a nice memorable effect. It’s like song glue sticking to your brain as you listen to “Winter Wish”. The lyrics were joyful yet charming as it had this romantic type of aesthetic to it. “Winter Wish” was a flawlessly written and beautifully arranged record that completely had us intuned with every aspect of the track. There’s obviously no surprise that Gina Naomi Baez made a huge impression on the general public and Lizzo herself when she released her parody of “Truth Hurts”. However, Gina Naomi Baez is proving to everyone that even with her original music she can still manage to captivate your attention and garner great buzz around herself. “Winter Wish” is a fantastic offering from a rising star who has already made an impact on her career by creating an everlasting impression on the market, industry, and us! You can listen to “Winter Wish” by Gina Naomi Baez here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Gina Naomi Baez! How has your career changed for the greater since your viral video of Truth Hurts? Since the Truth Hurts viral video it has been a complete dream! The most valuable things were gaining more of a loyal fan base on all of my platforms. To have people from all over the world who are enthusiastic, supportive and excited for what’s next means the world to me. What was the vision you had for your record “Winter Wish”? My Vision for Winter Wish was I wanted the listener to feel as if they just woke up in a magical, whimsical winter snow globe and the only thing that’s missing is their special someone. What was the most challenging aspect for you when making “Winter Wish”? When making Winter Wish I think the most challenging was combining the pop influences with the Christmas feel. I didn’t want it too cheesy Christmas but I still wanted that whimsical feel. How would you detail the arrangement in “Winter Wish” and what was your favorite element to the production of it? With Winter Wish I started with “Christmas glittery magic” and then layered on a pop/trap beat to give it that extra current feel. But I think my favorite elements of the production are the background vocals. I think the song gets a lot of depth from the background vocals and adds a special warm quality to the track that lends itself to a holiday song. What’s next for you Gina Naomi Baez? I am working on more YouTube videos, I have a single coming out at the beginning of this year and I’m working on my 2nd EP which will be released in early spring! ginanaomibaez.com Instagram.com/GinanaomiBaez facebook.com/ginanaomibaezfans twitter.com/gina_naomi_baez #BuzzMusic
