  • Beat Dragon Gives Us a Glimpse of the “Future” with New Single + Exclusive Interview!

Mostly in EDM, we are made to think that it’s all about the party and the experience, however, that is not the case for all artists in the genre these days. Especially with Beat Dragons and “Future”. The song speaks to social consciousness and the betterment of the world that we can all live in. “I have seen the future, it’s not written yet, it’s in our heads”. The song has all of the classic EDM elements and is also accompanied by a great vocal performance with striking lyrics that provoke thought and are extremely catchy. Just because there is a deeper meaning to this smash of a song, it doesn’t mean you can’t also party to “Future”. Showing the world what power we hold in our minds, in the light of also being able to have a great time, we think you should all turn on “Future” by Beat Dragons today! Streaming on all major platforms. Listen to "Future" here. Thanks for being with us today at Buzz Music! Why is it important for you to write and produce music that can have a large social impact? With our tracks, we like to support the worldwide movement for more sustainability and more environmental protection on our planet, because we are personally very convinced that we can all contribute something to it, if we would change our consumer behavior even a little bit, e.g. no more plastic bags or plastic bottles use. We are also convinced that we must start immediately with this change so that it remains earth worth living on for future generations. There is a great vocal performance on this track! Who is the singer and why were they chosen for the job? Our singer "Emarie" is at home in Miami. We chose her because she has a huge vocal range, is extremely experienced in the EDM music genre and expresses a voice coloration that we feel fits perfectly to the track "Future". Emarie has also sung the vocals for our next track "Nature", which will be released in January 2020. The EDM scene in Germany is ever-growing, what has it been like coming up in that city and playing this music? It's true, EDM Music is really very popular in Germany. There are more and bigger EDM festivals with tens of thousands of party-goers. There wasn't that one particular experience in a city, but Beat Dragon's "Future" is placed in the dance charts Top 100 in Germany and has been played in many big room clubs. So far we have received mostly positive reviews for "Future" and this motivates us to continue producing cool danceable EDM music and at the same time to express our concern. If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why? At the moment we would like to follow the planned path of Beat Dragons, but if there were one wish free we would say with Armin van Buuren because he is an incredible multi-talent, he has an extremely great experience in the field of EDM music genre. We could certainly learn a lot from him during a collaboration. What do you want listeners to take away from your music and how can they stay up to date with you? We hope that people who like to listen to the tracks of Beat Dragons will also like to party because Beat Dragons tracks are made for dancing in big room clubs and EDM festival parties. At the same time, we want Beat Dragons tracks to be able to encourage people to think about what each of us can do to protect the climate and the environment. That's why we've included the themes in our FUTURE video as well as in the lyrics. The next Beat Dragons track NATURE will also feature these themes. Be curious... • Shaylen Gives Us Everything with New Single “Sprite”

From Dallas, Texas - Shaylen has proven so much as an artist and today we are graced with her new single “Sprite”. Where to begin? This song has it all. From catchy melodies to genius lyrics, to unique production to a vocal performance that speaks for itself. Shaylen starts off “Sprite” with cool fingerpicking guitar work and her amazing vocals. After the intro is short-lived, she jumps in with an infectious vocal melody and performance. The chorus is huge, the drop is even bigger. “Love you so much, you really fucking suck” are the main hook lyrics but there is just something about the way it hits. The vocals are somewhat hip hop but pop, at the exact same time. This song really does stand on its own platform built on creativity and artistry. It’s no wonder why this was released on Republic, it deserves everything it has and more. The song “Sprite” is on the shorter end of only 2:30 (approx) but that’s all you need to be fully hooked on what Shaylen has to offer. She has a solid catalog of music on streaming so it gives listeners the chance to play this song 5 times, then hear more by her. Which, trust me, is what you’ll find yourself doing. Trust us and do the right thing. Dive deep into what Shaylen has going on! You’ll be glad you did, your friends will give you aux chord privileges and you’ll be known for your great taste in music. Listen to "Sprite" here. Thanks for being with us, Shaylen! Welcome to Buzz Music. Your new single “Sprite” is so refreshing. Who was your producer on this and why were they chosen for the job? (Clearly, you did the right thing!). Thank you very much. Dwilly is the producer on this one with me. Honestly, it was a random session that my management set up and we just really hit it off. He's a totally oddball like myself and we just caught a vibe and went from there. Where do you typically draw your influence when writing your melodies?  I walk around humming ideas all day. By the time I hit the studio every day I usually have something that's been floating around in my head. Sometimes I start a melody based on what the producer is cookin' up in the studio. Being from Dallas, what challenges did you face trying to get your music career off the ground? I don't think I faced any geographic challenges. There are lots of singers from Texas. The main challenge I faced was when I got signed very early on to Cash Money. That deal was a disaster and slowed me down a lot. It took me a few years to get free and start my solo career. You are signed to Republic, amazing! How did this come about? My team The Heavy Group has a label venture with Republic. Wendy Goldstein met me via a meeting Jeremy Skaller set up, and she felt like I should showcase for the label. I did that...and the deal happened pretty quickly after that. They were also aware of me because Cash Money's deal was always at Republic. So in a way, I'm back where I started but this time with a team that gets me and of course...as a solo artist. Lastly, what do you want to leave your fans with? Not just in this interview, but in general. What do you hope they take away from your music and your performances? It's clear from my music that I am a very flawed person. We all are. I try to come to terms with that in my art and to share it in a way that helps others feel comfortable being the same. I'm in this mess with you, trust me... and it's just so much easier to do it with friends than to do it alone. facebook.com/shaylenOfficial instagram.com/shaylenofficial #BuzzMusic

  • Toties Becomes Vulnerable in “Falling Off”

Toties shows us the true meaning of vulnerability and emotionally conveying yourself through his substantial new record “Falling Off”. “Falling Off” touched us here at Buzz. This song had a strong unguarded vibe through the lyrics that was not only emotional but relatable as well. It was a heart-rendering lyric arrangement that moved us due to the gorgeous songwriting and Toties calm yet passionate vocal delivery. Everything about “Falling Off” was so mesmerizing for me. Another strong element in “Falling Off” besides the great lyrical content was most definitely the production of the song. In the beat, “Falling Off” creates an amazing atmosphere that elevates you within the music. It’s this ethereal and unique magnetic field of soundwaves that flows through your ear and feels as if you’ve been physically placed within the song. “Falling Off” was a powerful record that had a sentimental and authentically driven meaning behind Toties poetic lyricism. Between the production of the track, the well-crafted lyrics, and Toties soft and aesthetically pleasing vocals, there was a sweet-sounding dimension that blended these components together to make a hit. You can listen to “Falling Off” by Toties here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Toties! How was it growing up in Atlanta? How would you describe your environment? Growing up in Atlanta was difficult really, especially coming from immigrant parents. I remember the first apartment I lived in was shared with 3 other families. It wasn’t easy being in an environment where the dangers are no further than your neighbor's doorstep. I made the most of it though. Seeing dealers on the corner was common. Hearing gunshots was common. Seeing muggings were common. I've had friends who were doing all that, that brought me into it. I personally had to get it away but I have hope that they find a way out. Talk to us about your song “Falling Off”. What was the theme behind this record? The theme would be just me losing touch with not only my love interest but some friends. It’s been rough but I know I’ll see better days. “Falling Off” had a strong lyrical presence in the song. What inspired you to write this single and why? I listen to JID, Eminem, Cole, Gambino, & Kendrick, every day. I guess I just mirrored their style in one and just went with it. How would you describe your creative approach to “Falling Off”? I was going through it with my ex when I wrote this, and then my friends ending up switching on me. I just took my anger and frustration from that to make this. I could have easily sent them this through a text but for me to feel at peace, I had to make it into a song. What’s next for you in 2020 Toties? I'm planning on dropping 2 mixtapes in 2020. One in the earlier half and the other in the later months of 2020. I already have most of the first one done. I just really have to record it and stamp a date on it. The second is still a work in progress. Really 2020 for me is just growing more, getting my name out there more than ever. instagram.com/ttoties twitter.com/ttoties soundcloud.com/ttoties #BuzzMusic

  • Letters of Transit Release an Explosive EP “The Endless Search For Something New”

Letters Of Transit released the exhilarating album titled “The Endless Search For Something New” and we fell absolutely in love with every aspect of this project. This exciting EP begins with the record “Home Again” a song that smacks you in the face with electrifying instrumentation and piercing vocals. The rhythm in “Home Again” arranges you into a trail-blazing atmosphere that you’re bound to feel addicted to! The next song that transitions in after “Home Again” was “All The Time”. All The Time was highly dynamic. The song begins with a passionate vocal introduction alongside the vigorous electric guitar playing that gave me this nostalgic early 00’s punk rock aesthetic. The lyrics were riveting and you can conceive from this that Letters Of Transit takes their songwriting very seriously. My favorite aspect of “All The Time” was the transitional bridge because everything felt more emotionally conveyed and strengthened your connection you felt with the song. The next song to transition was “Go” and this immediately began with a chaotic introduction that was headbanging and a smasher! The vocals from Letters Of Transit continues to take you onto this unforgettable journey through the EP. “Go” melodies were highly different as opposed to the records prior. The melody was so compelling it had me singing along! What was super dope about the melody in “Go” was how it fluctuated through dynamics? First, it started off soft as it slowly climaxed to a powerful vocal belt filled with rasp and grit! The closing song of the EP “Alive With Something Violent” is pure Rock n Roll Greatness! Its the epitome of what makes a superb rock record. Skillful guitar playing, transitional vocal dynamics, and anticipation through the arrangement. It’s like a roller coaster ride! You start off very steady before the big drop occurs and you’re on a wild ride! What I loved about “Alive With Something Violent” was the explosive instrumentation. Indifference from the other records, “Alive With Something Violent” showcased more of the instrumental playing and allowed us to feel each chord, drum kick, and melodic arrangement. This entire song was simply a clear representation that Letters Of Transit is the band of this new decade. They instantly transformed us into huge fans of their music and “Alive With Something Violent” was a killer closer to an EP that has portrayed the essence of Rock and Roll music. Letters Of Transit has a future that’s bright as a lightbulb. Imagining hearing these songs live is just a stellar experience that I HAVE to undergo! You can listen to “The Endless Search For Something New” by Letters Of Transit here Welcome to BuzzMusic Letters Of Transit! How did the band form? How has the journey been for you so far? the band consists of four members.  Jack - vox & guitar, JC - lead guitar, Donny - Bass, and Aaron - drums.  Back in 2016, JC and Aaron were in a cover band with another bassist and singer.  The bass player left the band to rejoin his old band, so JC decided to put a Craigslist ad out looking for a replacement.  Donny, who is a guitarist first, but took on bass out of necessity in a previous band, decided that he liked playing bass more and wanted to get into a rock band.  Donny saw the ad placed by JC and decided 'what the hell' and replied.  JC set up a meeting at a local bar for a meet and greet, and Donny has been with JC and Aaron ever since.  The singer for the cover band made the decision that he wanted to spend more time with his family and bowed out gracefully.  The three of us (JC, Aaron, and Donny) decided we should try our hand at writing originals.  By the end of 2016, we had come up with a few cool riffs, but we were missing a voice.  Enter Jack.  He, too, answered a Craigslist ad posted by none other than JC himself.  We set up a meeting at the same bar, and by the end of that day, the four of us were in JC's basement where we wrote our first ever song called Narratives Unknown.  No one outside of the band and our closest friends has ever heard the song, and the track has yet to make it on an EP.  But we will see what the future holds.  We have been together as a complete four-piece since January of 2017.  We ended up recording our first EP the week between Christmas and New Year of the same year and it was released on July 13, 2018.  The journey has been a blast.  We are doing what we love, and just being able to share with others makes it that much more amazing. What would you consider some of your main musical inspirations and why? We each have different bands and artists that we consider to be inspirations to our musical influences.  JC holds bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd in high regard but also considers The Deftones to be his favorite.  In addition to bands like Jimmy Eat World and Pedro the Lion, Jack is also heavily influenced by greats like Journey and Foo Fighters.  Like JC, Aaron draws inspiration from classic bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, but also appreciates bands like Foo Fighters, as well.  Donny is a metalhead at heart, but when it comes to getting inspiration as a songwriter, he considers Collective Soul to be a major contributor. What influenced most of the songs on the album “The Endless Search For Something New”? Jack is the main lyric writer.  Once we have the song structure down, he sings a melody line to get a feel for the flow of the song.  When he writes, he takes from personal experiences as well as what is happening in current events.  The song Home Again is a song about divorce.  A huge percentage of marriages end in divorce or are on the verge of divorce.  Jack took from his experience from a previous marriage and put it into this song.  Then songs like All the Time and Alive with Something Violent speak to depression and how social media can feel that emotion.  Go! is just a fun little jam.  Not much to it.  We kick right into and then get out in just about a minute and a half. Can you tell us why you chose this name for the EP? What does it represent and what’s the background behind it? JC is our resident album designer.  One of his good friends is a photographer and has graciously allowed us access to his photos from his Silent Shudder Studios portfolio.  JC will do mock-up album cover ideas and sometimes he will add an album title just as an idea.  One day, he texted everyone a picture of a ship at sea during a violent storm and put the title The Endless Search for Something New.  We all loved the album title and new that was it.  Then when JC paired it with the photo, it was perfect.  When we decided to form this band, we were all searching for the perfect match.  And sometimes the search for something new can be endless. How would you describe the creative process behind most of the songs on “The Endless Search For Something New”? The creative process behind most, if not all of our songs, is a great experience.  We try to get together once a week.  Sometimes, JC will come with a riff he has been tooling around with for a week or so, and other times, we just start playing chords and see where it takes us.  We have a library of 100 or so ideas that we have recorded during our rehearsals.  There are some very good ideas that we hope to revisit at some point, but right now we are having fun with all the new ideas that we create almost weekly. What’s next for you Letters Of Transit? We are very excited about 2020.  Our next project will expand across the full year.  We are currently working on some new material that we will be recording in the next couple of weeks with a target date of a Spring release.  We are going to be releasing a 2 to 3 song EP on each Equinox and Solstice.  Each style will be representative of the season.  At the end of 2020, early 2021, we release them all on a full-length LP.  May even press it on vinyl, so stay tuned for future details. facebook.com/LettersOfTransit instagram.com/letters_of_transit twitter.com/LOT_Band #BuzzMusic

  • Karina Daza Connects the Dots with New Self Titled EP

From New York City, Karina Daza has done it once again with her newly released self-titled EP and we are here for it. The EP kicks off with a great song called “Stay”, and it’s an easy listening song. Her voice is magical in this song, the lyrics are also enough to get a tear or two.. or ten out of you. This powerful vocal performance is like no other. The lyrics are rich and the melody is reminiscent of Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours”, but still walks to the beat of its own drum. All in, a great opening song that grabs you instantly. The second song of the EP is a solid interlude that is titled “Zafiro”. This is where Karina showcases her bilingual talents with a song in Spanish! The song starts in Spanish, but then switches to English in the chorus and this is one of the more unique approaches we have seen in a while. The song switches back and forth between Spanish and English, overtop a beautiful piano and finger-snapping beat. Only 1:50, it does its job as an interlude and gets your ears prepared for the third track of the EP. Next up we have “Heartless”. The song opens with piano and guitar that reminds my ears of Toni Braxton’s “Un-Break My Heart”. However, once the chorus hits, the beat picks up and so does the melody. The song comes to life with an incredible vocal performance and a catchy hook lyrically with “Don’t You Know I’m Heartless”. By the second verse, you want to get up and dance while pouring a glass of red wine. Lyrically, it feels like she once gave her heart up, but now has learned to be “Heartless”. Lastly, we have “Inolvidable” which is a Spanish song through and through. This song starts off super soft, then introduces horns and a very samba beat with high energy and also features Gustavo Guerrero on vocals who is a very nice compliment to the song. The energy of the song carries into the second verse and you quickly realize that this is the best way for Karina Daza to close out her EP. All in all, this is a solid body of work. 4 songs, 13 minutes and lots of sonic goodness here. Make sure you listen to the self-titled EP by Karina Daza today! Listen to the full EP here. Your EP has been out for about a week now, what accomplishments have you already made in the first week of the release and what expectations do you have for this EP? I had a release party in NYC and it sold out! Two of the singles had been pre-released, so the audience knew the words and it was so amazing hearing them sing along with me! I also just released my first official music video from the EP. I’ve been receiving great feedback, and I expect the songs to get radio play and for it to reach thousands of new listeners (who will hopefully become new fans!). Your interlude song “Zafiro” is bilingual and beautiful. What inspired you to write a song with Spanish and English fused into one? Zafiro (meaning “sapphire”) was actually the last song written on this EP. I had two songs in English and one in Spanish on the record already, with themes of attraction and lust, heartbreak, and forgiveness and coming full circle. So I knew the missing piece in that story was a bilingual love song, to really connect everything on the EP. Zafiro bridges the honeymoon stage and the heartbreak stage of the full love story and also bridges the two languages on my album. It also might be the best representation of me, in the sense that I am a fusion of my Latino and American identities. You have been featured in TV networks and magazines of all kinds! What has been your biggest accomplishment so far? I am so grateful every single time I am featured in any press outlet- but my biggest accomplishment actually has nothing to do with media coverage! I was recently contacted by a high school in Madison, Wisconsin; their choir director commissioned me to arrange a choral version of my single, “Espiritu de Leon” (‘Spirit of a Lion’), which they will be performing as part of a protest to keep DACA rights for their schoolmates. I care deeply about immigrant rights, and about fans finding meaning and purpose in my songs. To me, this is a much bigger accomplishment than any music festival I’ve played or TV appearance I’ve done. Who would you love to collaborate with and why? I’ve been on a real Gaby Moreno kick lately. I love how her influences range from Jazz to Latin and R&B- which happen to be my biggest influences, too! I feel like we’d get each other and make some magic. Also, Sabrina Claudio. I love her ability to fuse all these genres with Pop/R&B and make it really accessible and fluid. What is next for Karina? When can your fans see you live? I’m already back in the studio, writing and recording the next bilingual singles. I’m also going on tour this Spring to promote this EP! Fans can follow me on Bandsintown or on Facebook to be notified when the tour dates and cities come out! facebook.com/karinadazamusic instagram.com/karinadazamusic youtube.com/karinadaza karinadaza.com #BuzzMusic

  • Lyrics Shows Us the Essence of Hip-Hop in His Album “Judy’s Boy”

Lyrics released his album titled “Judy’s Boy”, a complete masterpiece that impressed us thoroughly. The project opened up with “Bar Work”, a song that smacks you across the face with a strong lyrical presence. Lyrics showcased us a quality of rap that you will rarely hear in most albums nowadays. “Bar Work” showed us exactly the skillful wordplay Lyrics is equipped with. He instantly gave me a J.Cole, Meek Mill and more type of vibe. Them rap greats who know how to deliver great lyrical content with passion and aggression. The lyrical content in “Bar Work” just prepared us for the lyricism in “Just Thoughts”. “Just Thoughts” was a beautifully written song that allowed us into the authentic and unguarded feelings of Lyrics. The melodic beat was gorgeous, while the flow was dynamic and the lyrics were thought-provoking. The next single in “Only You” by Lyrics had a beautiful vocal representation from NY’A. her beautiful vocal tone was beneficial and impactful to the song’s aesthetic. The next song to transition into this album was “Judy’s Boy”. the opener of this record says “We going back to the basics with this one”. An instant attention grabber and the lyrics hit us hard. His pen game in “Judy’s Boy” was spectacular and the transition from the hard-hitting beat to the acoustic melody that Lyrics still successfully rapped on was just purely impressive. The next song that transitioned in was “Ungrateful” another record that had a strong lyrical presence. “Ungrateful” really makes you think and you feel yourself relating to some aspect of what Lyrics rap about. The theme of disloyalty is something many people can relate too. Lyrics shows us a different side to him with his single “U & Me”. “U & Me” was like a love ballad delivered with a gritty rap flow. It was a pleasant addition to the album that showed another dimension to Lyrics’ rap personality. The song was delightful and charismatic. My favorite part of the record was the hook. The hook was beautifully arranged and vocally delivered by the singer Donnie with a catchy and contagious melody. The final record on this album was “Finally Here”. “Finally Here” instantly had us captivated by the production of the beat. It was like a feel-good song you will find at a local family gathering. It’s the type of song I can see my household playing at get-togethers, thanksgivings, and family reunions. Lyrics, all in all, brings back the essence of hip-hop and rap music. His emcee skills are highly remarkable and it’s refreshing. He isn’t a mumble rapper, and he isn’t a gimmick, instead, he’s a talented and skillful rapper whose showing us that real rap is in fact alive. You can listen to “Judy’s Boy” by Lyrics here! Welcome to BuzzMusic Lyrics! How would you describe your upbringing and background? I was raised in the projects of Edison, New Jersey. Went through the same hood shit most cats went through who was raised in the hood. I was raised mainly by moms & grandmoms, I was really into sports, I was in the streets a little bit but mostly stayed out of trouble, cuz my moms & grandmother wasn't for the foolishness. What influenced your album “Judy’s Boy”? What’s the story behind the name? Judy's Boy is an ode to my mother. My mom's name was Judy, she passed away almost 4 years ago from cancer, so I wanted to pay tribute to her with this project. How would you describe the arrangement on this project? Were there any challenges you encountered? The project was easy to do. The problem was selecting the correct records. I recorded almost 20 songs & had to narrow it down to 7 records. That was the hard part, just picking the right ones. Other than that, everything went pretty smooth. Which song from “Judy’s Boy” was your personal favorite and why? "Just Thoughts" is probably my favorite. Mainly because I was showing my lyrical capabilities and I talked about my mom a lot on there as well as other things that I went through at the time of her passing. What’s next for you in 2020 Lyrics? I have 2 or 3 projects coming up. One is a collaboration with my brother MattCleev at the top of the year & then in March, I"m dropping A Dollar & A Dream Part 2. It's a follow up to A Dollar and A Dream Part one that I dropped back in 2014. Also going on tour this summer. Stay Tuned! instagram.com/LYRICS0122 twitter.com/Lyrics0122 #BuzzMusic

  • Westerly Lays It All out with EP “Rags and Ribbons”

We have been sonically graced with the new EP from the Americana/Folk Group Westerly. We present to you the 3 song masterpiece of “Rags and Ribbons”. The first song of this amazing body of work is called “Build” and that’s exactly what it does. It sonically builds and also builds your love for this group. Starting off with a simple percussion beat, there are synths introduced and accompanied by the duo vocals of a man and woman. The lyrics are absolutely beautiful. Standing out to our ears, we fell in love with “I need someone to hold me close to their chest, won't you choose me” as well as “searching for love is all I do”. You can’t help but feel the love in this song and the melodies are so infectious, you really don’t stand a chance. This reminds you of Bruce Springsteen meets Arcade Fire meets Mumford & Sons and maybe The Gaslight Anthem’s Brian Fallon. There is an electric guitar lead at the end which proves the Springsteen influence, as well as the male vocals in the song. All in all, “Build” sets the tone for a great opening track to this 3 song EP. We want to build with you, too, Westerly! Up next, we have the guitar riff that grabs you right from the very beginning and takes you “Down to the Filter”. The song then breaks into a Rock influenced slow jam and carries all of the elements needed, while also keeping the Americana/ Folk vibes. The singer confessed “I ain’t saying I’m an easy man to live with”, this sort of self-awareness is something we can all use and learn from. “God is just another woman who won’t return my calls anymore” is one of the most powerful lyrics we have heard in a while and we love how it also gives the idea that God is a woman - very progressive and nice to see in the genre. The song is a longer one, clocking in at 5:11, but you go through the song with a smile on your face and a warm fuzzy feeling the entire way through. The guitar work is flawless, so much personality in the playing and the other instruments allow the player to do their thing, by pulling back. A great middle song, for sure! The last song “Shakin” wastes absolutely 0 times! The song jumps right into what some would say is the “hook” of the song. “You’re wearing me down with ‘Rags and Ribbons’ is mentioned and allows for that “A-Ha” moment, when you finally hear the EP name in a lyric. The song is a smooth sound that feels more like a John Mayer jam and we are very happy about it. However, again, the vocals do their job of standing on their own platform. The feeling of the EP changes from song to song, but you can still see that American flag waving in the background and the Americana vibes are consistent the entire way. Like every song on the EP, the guitar work is what we are really excited about and has no problem showing it’s true potential with this song, too. This ends as abruptly as it starts, but that isn’t a bad thing as you want to start the EP over from the very beginning! All in, we definitely think there is something special and to be said about Westerly and their latest EP “Rags and Ribbons”. Be sure to listen to it and stay up to date with Westerly on social media! Listen to “Rags and Ribbons” here. We're here with Sterling Spence, the frontman and songwriter for Westerly! You’re from the Bay Area of California but recently moved to Los Angeles (Echo Park). What inspired moving south in the state? I never really wanted to leave the Bay. It’s my home and that means a lot to me. But my partner got into Law School at UCLA, so I had to re-evaluate and figure out if I was going to follow her. That’s part of what our new EP “Rags and Ribbons” is about, it’s the questions and comprises and prices you pay when you look at a relationship to figure out what it means to you. I was looking at all the things I was building and holding onto in the Bay and I realized that maybe my own self-interest wasn’t as important as thinking about what I could build with her. On top of that, the Bay Area is changing so quickly. I grew up with the memories of all those iconic San Francisco Bands of the 60s and then later the power of the East Bay punk scene. Now, if you go to the neighborhoods where that history flourished, it's all just luxury apartments and WeWorks full of start-up designers. Everything’s gotten so expensive so quickly that the art scenes (along with families who have lived here for generations) are being pushed out. Moving away from all that kind of felt like a breath of fresh air. Of course, the same thing is happening in LA, but the resistance feels stronger. I’m enamored by the LA communities and cultures that are making their stand and creating art and music that feels distinctly American but is rooted in traditions from all over the world. I mean, Westerly makes Americana roots music, that’s the core of what we do. But really that means we’re making music influenced by the South—Rock n Roll with the blues, gospel, country, and folk. But being in LA, you just get this sense that American music is something so much wider, that it comes from every part of the globe. It's just a good place to breathe in the atmosphere and try to make something of your own. Would it be crazy to say that there is some Brian Fallon influence on your music? If so, who is your biggest influence? You know, I’ve gotten that before and I do love Brian, especially his band the Gaslight Anthem. This might be a bit too in the weeds, but I have a theory about them. Ok, so in 2009 the Gaslight Anthem put out the album “The ’59 Sound” which was this really amazing blue-collar Rock n Roll storytelling reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen but blended with a punk rock heart. That same year, Springsteen put out one of his worst albums since the 80s, just this really cheesy overproduced bullshit. But somehow, he heard the Gaslight Anthem and ended up bringing them out on a couple of his shows. The next two Springsteen albums “Wrecking Ball” and “High Hopes” where his best and most inspired albums since the late 70s, they’re filled with this rawness straight from The Gaslight Anthem, they’re beautifully angry and energetic. Here’s my point, I think Brian Fallon gave Springsteen back his voice and taught him how to be relevant again. I know it's very uncool to say this, but Springsteen is by far the biggest influence on this EP, so I’m really glad you heard a bit of Brian Fallon in there. If I'm being honest, our song Build is a rip off of “I’m on Fire” and the song Shakin’ uses the line “Ain’t good enough for you” which is the name of another one of Springsteen’s songs. I wrote a lot of those with the distant dream that if they ever got big enough, he might hear them and sue us. Then, I’d get a chance to meet him and just say thank you! “Rags and Ribbons” seems to tell a story of a struggling love. Is there anything else you hope to get across with your music? (Besides your amazing guitar work!) Westerly has been a very special thing for me. Just as an example, I’ve been playing with Scott, our guitar shredder, since we picked up guitars for the first time over 15 years ago. I feel very lucky to get to make music with this group of people. It’s a rare thing that you find friends and collaborators who believe in the little sounds inside your head. So, when I think about that with this record, just the fact that we’ve put out so much music over the years and we keep making it despite the difficulties of being in a band, I think it’s a testament to friendship. In some ways that’s also what the love I’m talking about on the EP means. The songs are about the struggles of relationships, the things we fight for and the difficulties we face, but ultimately its hopeful. It’s the idea that the struggle is worth it. You have played venues of all kinds, where is the most unique place you have ever performed? Where do you hope to one day perform? We used to play this old wooden ship that would circle around Alcatraz and do a wine and hors d’oeuvres cruise at sunset. It seemed like a good gig to have a captive audience and usually it was, but if the passengers didn’t like you, you were just stuck there with them. A couple of the crew were original burning man people, so if we were really bombing, they’d come out and do fire spinning on deck to amp everyone up again. The whole thing seemed like a wonderfully terrible idea, but they paid alright so that was cool. I guess if I thought of places we'd like to play in the future, there are so many iconic venues. I mean, it would be a dream to do the Troubadour. Also, in San Francisco, there’s this old bar called the Condor Club that used to hire live bands for their burlesque shows. I always wanted to get one of those gigs…you know, why not dream big! When can your fans see you on tour and when can we expect this EP to be released? So, we’re still figuring out what it looks like to play gigs being spread out across the state, but we’ll be hitting the road again this summer. Until then, we have shows here and there and you can keep up with us on Instagram @westerlytheband and facebook.com/westerlytheband Those are the best places to see upcoming shows. The EP dropped the day after Thanksgiving, and you can hear it everywhere music is streamed. We also have new stuff coming out soon. There’s a single dropping in February, another EP in April, and a bunch of short stories that go along with our earlier EP “In the Empire” that will be coming out later in the year! So, if you follow us, you’ll get all the details. We’d love to see you! #BuzzMusic

  • Maxine Davis Is Back with Another Soulful Hit ‘Say Yes’

Hi Maxine and welcome to BuzzMusic! We noticed that you identify yourself as a healer. Do you use music to heal others or do you have another meaning behind this title? I do feel as if music is an amazing healing agent. It can touch its listeners in a personal and heartfelt way. The reach it has is unbelievable! So, I guess you can say I heal through the music I create, as well as, my company Crystal Eyes Healing which offers Crystals, jewelry, classes, energetic healings, intuitive readings, and so much more! You can check it out here: www.CrystalEyesHealing.com "Say Yes", is so relatable. I think we can all say we've had this desire to text an ex. Is this song reflecting on personal experience, if so can you explain? Say Yes was pulled from many experiences that my family, friends, and I have gone through. We have all had a relationship or even friendship breakdown in a not so great way. This song is about putting your ego to the side and trying to right a wrong in a situation that has gone sour. Hoping that the person on the receiving end will understand what is at stake and want to repair the connection too. "Say Yes" really highlights your soft and powerful vocal range. Have you ever received formal vocal training? Thank you! I have been lucky to have received training from some amazing vocal coaches. Shout out to Ronnie Labeau and Roger Love! Being a talented Singer and Songwriter, what was the process for "Say Yes"? Did you draw on any new techniques or muses for this creation? It was something that came overnight. I literally wrote this song the night before I went into the studio. I wrote about my experiences as well as those that the people closest to me have encountered. Say Yes is a song about total acceptance. Accepting your partner’s good side and shadow side. It is also about letting them know that you will be there by their side through every storm. Thanks for chatting with us at BuzzMusic. You have such a unique voice and memorable lyrics. What does the future look like for you, any plans album releases? Full Album is in the works and I just created a new single with my team that should be released very soon. To stay in the know, follow me on all my social media! Thanks! • Dacian Miron Can’t be Pushed Around With New Song “Young Punk, Mr. Rock N Roll”.

Born in Romania and now residing in Tampa, FL - we are graced today with the energetic Dacian Miron and his new song “Young Punk, Mr. Rock N Roll”. The song “Young Punk, Mr. Rock N Roll” is the definition of an infectious song that is coupled with high energy. The intro rips right into it, setting the tone of angst toward people who have tried to make you feel small. The guitar lead is reminiscent of Relient K meets Unwritten Law and vocally, there is a healthy balance of early 2000’s punk and modern-day Pop Punk. With a line such as “sweating bullets like a nervous wreck”, you can’t help but sing along to this anthemic Punk jam. Where the song speaks for itself, there is a sweet guitar solo around the 2:04 mark that completely melts your face, while makes you jump on your bed and air guitar along! The song finishes with the banging chorus and by the 3rd time hearing it, you’re already singing along. Production-wise, the sonic sounds are great and very clear for a distorted genre. If you like the early 2000’s Punk with modern age Pop Punk, we have something for you and it is “Young Punk, Mr. Rock N Roll” by Dacian Miron. Listen to the soundings of Dacian Miron here You moved to the United States at the age of 10 from Romania. Has that experience had any influence on your sound/ lyrics? I'd say. I'm probably the only Romanian you'll ever meet with the amount of built-up angst equating to that of a 15-year-old teenager. I came to the USA with the expectation that starting anew is a good thing. But I honestly didn't fit in. People didn't like me because I was different, obscure. "Hey, look at that kid, he talks funny". "Kids weird and I don't want to hang with him." Heard it all... And more. Sure, it was hard at first, but after a while, I decided to not let it bother me. So I started writing about how I felt. I took pride in being weird. This album I'm working on is a self-reflection of myself and how others view me and I personally hope it resonates with anyone that feels the same way because being different is a blessing, not a curse. At what age did you discover Punk music and what band got you into Punk? If I recall correctly, I was about 14 years old during Summer break sitting in my room messing around on YouTube. To this day, I still don't know what video I clicked on that led me to Blink 182's Dammit Music Video, but once I watched it, I became hooked. Something clicked for me with Blink. I'm not sure if it was humor associated with their music or just the don't care attitude they put out. Then I came across Sum 41, Green Day, Good Charlotte and The Offspring. Those were the major bands that started the transition into my so-called Punk phase. You have premiered songs with Idobi, how did that come to be and what was your experience like working with them? It's true. My first single Feelin' Dangerous was thrown on rotation back in September after I submitted it directly to their Anthem station. I love everything about Idobi and what they do for Artists. This isn't your typical cliché internet radio station. Idobi loves and believes in good quality songs if they like what they hear, they will air your music regardless if you're a signed major artist or an up and comer. Their hosts actually take time to interact with their fan base by posting exclusive content from shows which makes you feel like you're part of the family. Maybe this is exactly the reason this station stands out against all the rest. Working with them has been an absolute pleasure and I'm really excited for them to première my new tracks. Who would you say is the most inspiring artist for you? This is such a hard question. You can't do this to me. I can't just pick one.  I draw influence from a ton of artists. I love me some Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Cash. Michael Jackson is also right behind them. But in this modern-day, I guess you could say, Brendon Urie. It's actually kind of funny because I get a slight comparison to Brendon all the time. Some say I'm the perfect mix of Brendon, Alex Gaskarth and Tom Delonge. I don't see it, but I'll take it! What is next for you? Any plans to tour or release more music? I started off my solo project in July of 2019. I have two singles released. Feelin' Dangerous and Young Punk, Mr. Rock N Roll. I'm in the process of shooting a music video for Young Punk, and the timeline for that release is around January. 2020 should be a fantastic year for me. I have a few things planned, first being my début album "Slightly Mysterious, Somewhat Delirious. I'm also looking to put together some tours after the album release. More info will be made available closer to that time. I have plans for a followup EP as well, I've written about 20 tracks I'm itchin' to release to the public. facebook.com/daciandangerous instagram.com/daciandangerous twitter.com/daciandangerous #BuzzMusic

  • Kendra Erika Follows Up Her Billboard Top 10 With New Single “Break The Wheel”!

Breaking into the Billboard top 10 is not an easy task for anyone and today, we are listening to Kendra Erika - the chart crushing electric Pop artist from Florida and her new song “Break The Wheel”. Musically, “Break The Wheel” is a banger, perfectly fusing Deep House and Pop sounds to make something great and unique. If I could compare to one other artist, I would say there is a hint of a Dua Lipa influence, but also not in an identical way. The vocal melodies are absolutely infectious, so please be careful! This song is the type to take over and be stuck in your head hours and hours after listening to it. Lyrically, Kendra Erika explains in the chorus and she is “so over it” and wants to “break away”. If I could guess, it sounds like she is getting past a toxic situation in her life, and we support her through it. The line about being “so over it” is repeated a lot, which is part of what helps the song being stuck in your head all day. Almost to the point where you wonder why the song wasn’t just called “so over it”. All in all, fantastic song if Deep House and Pop are your thing! Her vocal performance is stunning and the song is genius. Do yourself a favor and listen to “Break The Wheel” today! You can access Kendra Erika's "Break The Wheel" here.
