- deFrance Keeps Rock n Roll Alive With New Single “Keep The Night On It” + Exclusive Interview
From the south, coming from places such as Arkansas and Texas, today we are reminded that Rock N Roll is alive and well. deFrance has driving riffs for days on end, like a train that just keeps rolling on a mission, and we are all aboard. Where we are going? Riff city! Their new single “Keep The Night On It” takes you from wherever you are, whatever you are doing, and brings you aboard this Rock N Roll train that rides forever. The song opens up with smashing guitars and cymbals, then rips right into a rocking riff and the song's title. The music is influenced by blues, as much Rock N Roll is. The melodies are amazing and reminiscent of classic Rock but still feel new to us. Easy to sing along to and easy to clap along, yes they have claps in the song! The track graced with amazing lead guitar work that is completely face-melting and features a few solos! I haven’t heard anything this raw since Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The song is short, sweet and to the point. Clocking at 2:34, it’s honestly all you need. The message is there, the tunes are there and this anthem of a Rock N Roll waiving flag is enough for is to know that deFrance is keeping the music and movement alive. Be sure to keep up to date with deFrance and watch out for what’s next for these rockers! Listen to deFrance here. Thanks for talking with us today at Buzz Music deFrance! Your new single “Keep The Night On It” is a true machine for Rock n Roll music. How did this song come about, what’s the story? The song came about after arguing over a bottle of Jameson in Nashville. There was an early childhood event that happened that’s very sad which is a beautiful way inspired you to play music. Do you want to share your story at all? My brother and 2 best friends passed away in a car wreck while driving to my 14 birthday party. That’ll give you the blues. How do you find being from Texas and playing Rock N Roll? Do you feel out of place or are you right at home? Being from Arkansas and the Southern United States it only made sense to play the music that originated here. Rock & Roll Music was born out of Blues and Country Music or as Muddy Waters famously said: “The Blues had a baby and they named it Rock n Roll!” What has been your biggest accomplishment as a band? Performing at our hometown Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas is our biggest accomplishment yet! It was an amazing experience that will happen again! Lastly, what do you want to leave your fans with and where can they keep up to date with you? I hope everyone enjoys all the new music and shows being announced! - INTERVIEW: Joules Talks Over Her Recent Music!
Hey Joules! We're appreciative to have the chance to talk through your recent music with you! How are you feeling as an artist, in the midst of releasing new material? This last single was super emotional....some heavy thoughts went into these lyrics, and it was exhausting to be that raw, but my next few are totally fun and funky...."Struck Down" and "Mad Love" are coming out early next year and they are the love child of circus desire and crazy warm fulfillment!! We gave a listen to "Heroes", and it was an incredibly intimate experience between artist and listener. Is this the predominant approach you focus on while curating your music, to connect with your listeners in a raw and authentic way? I want to give my fans the real deal..each of my songs is a tiny capsule of raw energy and expression, whether it be a fun and sexy vibe or some downright serious shit. I can only write what I am feeling, and I have an abundance of those devilish things... Your rock persona shines through to us, it's a natural element to your music. The other elements you blend in to create your sound is extremely diversified. Can you tell us more about the creative technique you have when deciding what eclectic sounds should be integrated within your sound? Each song is its own entity and personality. Some are hard and strong and require tribal drums and screaming guitars. Others are elegant and sensual, calling for strange percussion, or evocative voices. I have many friends that play various instruments and sing with their unique sounds. But everything is rebellious and distinct....rock is an attitude, not a genre. When you're singing songs like "Heroes" at a live show, do you actually feel the intimacy of the connection between artist and listener? Yes, because that song is like lovemaking. It starts out slow and sensual with a tinge of sadness and then builds to its forceful conclusion. That song really brings out the beast in me... I use my hips, my legs, my face, and eyes to give the audience my heart..since I am playing the bass, I cannot stop, I cannot use my hands or arms for expression, and that really makes me pour everything out of my mouth. It is a restrictive but expansive experience all at the same time. We're thankful to have gotten the time to talk about "Heroes" and other aspects of your artistic career! What's the goal now for Joules in 2020, both artistically and personally? I hope that more people will hear my music. I really need to get a wider audience to fulfill my true goals. Touring and playing to a live audience every fucking night..writing music for and with other artists. There are so many I would like to collaborate with, but many are out of reach due to my relative unknown status. 2020 is time to fix that... Give a listen to Joules and her sound here! #BuzzMusic
- Mind Ripple is on Their Way to International Success!
Mind Ripple isn’t only rippling minds, they’re blowing people away with their record-breaking hits! In early 2019, Mind Ripple released "Mirror Stage", and one track we must highlight is their first one from the album, "Nothing New Under The Sun". Soon after, the band chose to present it live for the first time at Ilion Plus in Athens. This isn’t the only time Mind Ripple has performed at the temple! During the last 6 months, Mind Ripple has performed twice in Temple, Athens and in a showcase event in Athens Music Week 2019. The band collectively has more gigs coming up in the near future, predominantly in their hometown Athens. An exciting feature to Mind Ripple is their plan to go on their first tour around Greece--a performance we're dying to get in on! Mind Ripple’s album has been available both digitally and physically. With a pleasantly well-orchestrated project that will undoubtedly skyrocket them into great heights of success, Mind Ripple is curating music to appease to the elements! Each song from their album has warranted its place by presenting well-conducted arrangements, melodies, and strong lyricism. There’s no doubt in our mind that Mind Ripple has everything it takes to create a long-lasting legacy and impressionable loyal fan-base that will live through their music. If you weren’t a fan of Mind Ripple before? We promise you will become a fan of them now... Or later! Check out the soundings of Mind Ripple here. Welcome to BuzzMusic Mind Ripple! What’s the story behind the formation of your band? How did Mind Ripple come about!? In 2010 Stefanos Katis and Haris Katis formed an alternative rock band called ‘Disconnected’ along with two more musicians. For six years the band played extensively in bars and clubs in Athens. After playing as a cover band for several years (and driven by the need for creating original material) they started composing their first songs. Over the years, we had some changes in the band’s formation. In 2012 Makis Kolaitis, the current drummer, and George Gazis, the current bass player, joined the band. In 2016 we self-released their first EP ‘Disconnected’ and a few months later George Lambadis, the current guitar player, joined the band. As we dove into the creative process in order to discover our sound, we felt that this was the emersion of a new band so before the release of our debut album ‘Mirror Stage’ we decided to change our name and start the era of ‘Mind Ripple’. Talk to us about the album that’s creating great traction for you! which song from this project was your personal favorite and why? The album is an ode to the self-defining milestones in one’s existence. It’s an attempt to look at these experiences from a distance and understand how they shape you as a person. As all the songs derive from personal experiences and concerns, it doesn’t seem fair to pick a favorite so we choose not to. What inspired the album’s name, “Mirror Stage”? Τhe title of the album is inspired by the theory of Jacques Lacan, concerning the stage where an infant begins recognizing itself in the mirror. As the songs are based on the internal quests and truth-seeking endeavors of the band members we believe it is an appropriate title. Which song from “Mirror Stage” do you feel best represents the album’s theme and why? The song that we believe communicates best the atmosphere and the theme of the album is “Pray for an exit”. It is the song with the most intense and diverse emotions. Both the orchestration and the lyrics tell the story of a person who feels passive and overwhelmed but finds strength and acceptance within this state of inertia. Are the songs arranged in chronological order on “Mirror Stage”? Mirror stage revolves around certain themes and concepts but the songs are not arranged in any particular order, maybe with the exception of pray for an exit. Listening to part 2 after part1 makes more sense since part 2 is an extensive narration on the “second act” of part 1. What are you looking forward to in 2020, Mind Ripple? We have already booked two shows for the first months of 2020. Meanwhile, we are excited to be planning our first tour around Greece. We are always chasing the thrill of a live set so we try to perform live as often as possible. facebook.com/mindripple.music instagram.com/mindripple_band/ #BuzzMusic
- IBZ Showcases His Hip/Hop Diversity With New Song “Rocky”
From London, England - we were lucky enough to come across the great talent known as IBZ, who is a 25-year-old rapper of Libyan heritage. His new song “Rocky” is short and sweet, definitely to the point. Clocking in at 2 minutes, the song starts off with a smooth Hip/Hop vibe that is reminiscent of his influences, such as OutKast, J. Cole and Kayne West. The beat of the track is a familiar feeling, but it’s IBZ’s vocals that make him stand out. His vocal delivery hits home and sits with you, making the replay value of the song huge! His lines and rhymes are super futurist and ahead of the curve, not like many others in his world. “Rocky” is not a hard song to follow along to. It’s the sort of jam that you want to drive around to at night, with some friends in the car (or alone) and just chill out to, and your friends would think you're the aux chord master for playing something like this. With a wide variety of influence, you should consider checking out IBZ today and keep up to date for new music. Give a listen to IBZ here! We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us at BuzzMusic! You’re from all the way in London, England but your music feels very “American” esq. Is that something you keep in mind while producing your music? Good question! One I get all the time! I can explain this by going a bit into my background - so I was born in London, raised in an Arab family who spent a lot of my youth moving between London and North Africa. My first school was actually an American school which I guess played a big effect on my accent - it's what I feel is authentic to me, so I rap with it! In regards to the sound: yeah, it is very American influenced. This is because a lot of my earliest Hip-Hop influences were Outkast, Eminem, Tupac, Kanye, to name a few - I guess that is where the flow patterns, conceptual songwriting and sounds I come up with are really influenced from. There is still some light British influences in some of the stuff I do - I do listen to a lot of UK stuff (grime, rap and drill) - so it's only natural that I learn something from it. What encouraged you to start rapping and producing music at such a young age? Any artists in particular that helped you want to start out? I had always wanted to learn and play music at a young age - I started learning the drums and guitar at a young age and always had a desire to create my own music and songs - they were terrible, but I guess it was when the idea of creating content started to sink in. The biggest influence in rap music for me, without a doubt, would be J. Cole. I remember being introduced to him for the first time and I was so intrigued by the approach he took to creating an identity for himself, let alone how strong his ability was. When I heard 'Friday Night Lights' for the first time, I played that shit for like 2 months straight, daily. He had a song called 'Before I'm Gone', which had a line that goes "never sold a rock and look I made it bitch' - this was the line that got me to start rapping, and actually understand the genre... this was the first time that it really clicked for me that I could actually do this, that rap music doesn't just have to be about selling drugs, violence or women, but rather, is about telling your story or speaking on something important to you! Couldn't thank him enough for that! You mention that you have influence in Alternative and Punk music. Who are some of your favorite artists in the genre? Wow, where should I start? So my biggest influences would have to be Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte, and Panic at The Disco - 'Folie a Deux' by Fall Out Boy is one of my top 5 albums... of all time! Other bands like Blink 182, Bowling for Soup and System of a Down, I also love. I guess you could say that that genre was really a soundtrack to my life at that point - I liked the energy of the music as well as the ability to touch on internal topics that people think about every day (such as pain, mental health, and vices) and portray them in unique ways through their styles of songwriting. I try to take as much as I can from these influences - be it that energy, musicality, unique off-kilter sounds and the breakdown of social/societal habits. I am truly thankful for my exposure to the genre, as I feel it brought a new dimension to my music as I learn to incorporate more of it into my style. If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why? There are so many to choose from, I don't know where to begin... I would love to work with Andre 3000, I feel like anything he touches is automatically interesting (and would be great to be torn apart but a legend on the track haha). Kid Cudi is another that comes to mind - I feel like his style could really compliment my more dark music. On the flip side, Chance the Rapper would also be great for the more lighthearted and maybe thought-provoking content I make. Isaiah Rashad is also one of my favourites right now, he would fit the bouncy style and flows that I have on my newer stuff - and he's a very talented artist that stands out. Playboi Carti would be an awesome pick too! Even if our styles aren't a 100% match, I feel I would listen to that song myself for years. Also, of course, J. Cole - being my biggest influence, I couldn't not say him, right? ;) Sorry about the long list, there's just so many that I couldn't pick one! Also, these are just Hip-Hop artists, not to mention the other genre-mixing stuff I'd love to do someday - and artists I'd like to work with! What can your fans expect next from you? Well right now, you can listen to my single 'Rocky' (Prod. Jido), out on all streaming platforms! I am currently working on my next project called 'TZUNAMI', coming out early 2020. I have a few singles I'm planning to drop before then - with some great artists too, such as GR3YWXLF and 9th The Dawn. I am also working on a separate EP - four tracks, that should be out next year too - a lot of exciting stuff planned for the near future! instagram.com/youngbasquiat #BuzzMusic
- Rap Artist Veelito Gives Us Authenticity in Recent Track Release "Let Thy Will Be Done in Me"
Growing up in Bronx, NY, rap artist Veelito has a ton of life experiences to share with his listeners. Veelito takes his platform as an artist to express the personal and painful experiences he's been through. His most recent music has stimulated interest, which we primarily believe is due to Veelito's authentic approach to connecting with his listeners. Veelito puts emphasis on the integral messages we receive in life by integrating such messages into his tracks. His music catches the attention within the rap music scene, and we have to admit that it caught ours as well. One of his most recent releases, "Let Thy Will Be Done in Me" has focused on what seems to be another hardship in Veelito's life, and expressing the multitude of emotions that stem from it. There's an initial atmospheric feel to Veelito's track "Let Thy Will Be Done in Me". It primarily comes from the symphony-like feel and integration. The track eventually progresses into the flowing vocal deliver from Veelito, which smoothly progresses from a slow execution to a more rapid increase in both tempo and lyrical outflow. You can feel Veelito expressing something real to his listeners. He speaks on his life, his internal beliefs, and current goals. It's a rap track that puts together an inspiring message with an old school, '90s beat. Check out "Let Thy Will Be Done in Me" here. facebook.com/veelito/ instagram.com/veelito_s.w.a.t #BuzzMusic
- Exclusive Interview With Rap Artist Dat Boy DOPE!
Hey Dat Boy DOPE! Thanks for coming on BuzzMusic to talk about your recent music. How does it feel to be recording and releasing consistently in the music scene? It feels liberating, to be honest. Music is therapeutic for me so to create, record, and release it to the world gives me a sense of accomplishment every single time. Let's talk about the personal and vulnerable aspects you bring to your music. Is it difficult to expose your most private emotions through your music, or is it a process that comes naturally? Coming up with the music and actually recording it comes naturally for me because it stems from my own experiences. I honestly create music from that standpoint to always dictate my own narrative, I don't want to leave my story to be told by anyone else. Releasing it is pretty nerve-racking at times because I'm sharing intimate moments with the Universe and not everyone cares about what you're going through until its too late. We listened to your recent release "Better Off As Friends", and we can really sense the growth in your artistic sounding with this track. Where did your vision start off with this track, and how do you personally feel you've growth artistically with this song? It's really just a combination of moments that I've been through in various relationships throughout the years. So I pieced together different moments to create an interesting/easy to follow the story. In my mind, it's relatable to both sexes and I felt very moody in a particular relationship that I was in so that was the motivation to create the song. I've grown in the sense of being more of a risk-taker with the recording process since then. I play with my voice and different sounds more than I did during that time period. We know that you've played at various venues in the past. Out of the ones you've performed at, what venue has been your favorite, audience wise? It's between Santos Party House and Revolution Music Hall. Both venues had great crowds and definitely some of my most memorable performances. After the release of Reroute, how do you feel you've changed artistically since? Contrastingly, do you feel that your sound has remained consistent, in an effort to maintain uniformity? I'm having more fun with the process since then. Reroute is so personal to me and pretty much the reason why I continue to make music now because during the recording process for that album I was going to give up and never release music again but it birthed new life and confidence in me. The sound is going to change as I evolve as a person but the integrity in putting together quality projects will never change. Thanks again Dat Boy DOPE! Hopefully, we'll hear more soundings from you in the near future! What're some next steps now that "Better Off As Friends" is released? Thank you for sharing your platform with me. To answer your question just more visuals, more shows/tours, projects, and branding partnerships. I have a single coming out the beginning of January titled "Livin Better" produced by Black Mayo. I'm wrapping up my next EP or album, depending on how much music I want to release, but it's titled Load The Clip. My team and I are planning an independent tour through my company D.O.P.E University Entertainment Group and we're working on some branding partnerships which should be the dopest part about it all. I'll definitely keep in touch when things get announced! Check out the lyrical soundings of Dat Boy DOPE here! instagram.com/dbd516 twitter.com/dbd516 #BuzzMusic
- Mighty Tortuga is Representing the Essence of Punk Rock In a Contemporary Way!
Mighty Tortuga is a Connecticut-based band that's here to answer to all of our smooth dream-rock desires. Their sound showcases the integral 90s emo power pop, with a sense of maturity and reliability. In a scene saturated by pop-punk, they are providing a unique sound that is fresh and exciting. Mighty Tortuga released various records in 2019 that will complement their prepossessing artistry. One single that stood out the most to us was the record “Swear To God”. In “Swear To God”, they gave us a sensational composition that really took us into the ethereal rock aesthetic they pride themselves on. The electric guitar alongside the bright vocals places you in an atmospheric rock n' roll environment, that quite frankly, you don’t want to escape from. Mighty Tortuga gives us this classic punk rock flavor that we miss in the music scene nowadays! They really take us back with elements being provided from again, that 90's era, going into the early ’00s when punk rock was taking over the game. Nevertheless, Mighty Tortuga keeps a modern-day contemporary element presented throughout the majority of their music. If “Swear To God” wasn’t enough to help you realize how this band is truly the essence of punk rock, try taking a listen to their EP “Letting Go” and we promise you’ll find yourself wrapped up in Mighty Tortuga’s trailblazing ambiance. You can surely bet yourself that Mighty Tortuga is on to do great things in this upcoming year of 2020. Check out the musical stylings of Mighty Tortuga here! Welcome back to BuzzMusic Mighty Tortuga! Tell us about your background! How is the music scene in Connecticut? Thanks for having us back on! We are Mighty Tortuga, an emo rock band that got together in Summer 2018. We knew from the beginning we wanted to take a different approach than what the majority of CT bands were doing at the time. The music scene in CT is a saturated market of Pop Punk, and we wanted our sound and brand to stand out from the rest. As far as fan involvement in the scene, our band, as well as a small grouping of other bands are leading the way to make the CT music scene bigger and better than ever before. We are excited for what’s to come in the coming year! Let’s talk about your recent tour in support of your latest single “Swear To God”! How would you describe the reception of the single and the tour? We’re all extremely grateful for the response to this song! We tried something a little different for this single and it definitely landed well amongst the crowds and digital platforms! We want to thank everyone who’s listened to it so far! As for the tour, we had a great time. The crowds were bigger this time around, and we got to play in some new places! We were out with our pals on Sunday Morning on the last leg, and we made a ton of new friends along the way! What were some of the challenges you faced when making your EP “Letting Go”? The making of “Letting Go” thankfully had no major challenges. With it being our debut release, we were able to experiment with a few different styles to see what people responded to the most. With that being said, we spent the later months of 2018 and front end of 2019 jamming and tooling with the songs that would end up being “Letting Go.” By the time we went to tape with the songs, we had a clear vision for what we wanted out of them. We recorded and produced the record ourselves, so we were able to capture the exact vibe we were looking for. What’s next for you in 2020, Mighty Tortuga? We are starting off 2020 by taking a break to officially start the process of recording our next record. Once we finish, we have big plans for the tour! Hitting new places and continuing our quest for world domination. What will some differences be between your next release & “Letting Go” as far as production? The biggest difference will be production. “Letting Go” was recorded and produced 100% by us. For our next record, we are taking on the assistance of some producers we admire immensely. We believe working together with them will take this upcoming record to a new place sonically by taking an organic approach while keeping true to the original sounds we founded the band on. More details on recording and production will be announced on our social media! So be sure to follow us everywhere @MightyTortuga! facebook.com/MightyTortuga instagram.com/MightyTortuga twitter.com/MightyTortuga #BuzzMusic
- Amanda Dean Plays With Our Hearts in New Release “Again”
From Vancouver, British Columbia - we are blessed to hear the amazingly talented singer/ songwriter Amanda Dean with her new song “Again”. Capturing emotion is a big part of songwriting and today with Amanda Dean’s “Again”, we are graced with thoughtful vocal performance. Amanda is an established songwriter and she showcases that from the very beginning of this track with such a captivating intro. Accompanied by a wave riding guitar lead, you can’t help but feel inspired by "Again". The chorus is an easy sing-along, but very well written, and highlights the wisdom she's capable of emulating throughout her writing. We have to note Amanda’s vocal performance again in the track, as the second verse takes "Again" to another level. You intrinsically hear Amanda's potential in the first half of the song, but once this second part hits, you'll be ultimately charmed and captivated by her natural artistry. “You are the song I want to play over and over again”, we feel the same, Amanda! The song then rips into a heart-wrenching guitar solo on top of her belting vocals and if you don’t feel any goosebumps, then I would have to applaud you. The song closes in a massive way and cement’s that true artistic ability on Amanda's end. You may catch Amanda Dean singing the national anthem at your next major spots game, but you should also keep up to date with her as her music is completely amazing. We are excited for more! Check out Amanda Dean and her soundings here. Being from Vancouver, British Columbia, what have been some of the cultural influences on your music? Like so many people in Canada, I'm actually a transplant - I was born in England, in the West Midlands (where Led Zeppelin is from, my mom, who was a huge music lover, actually dated Robert Plant when they were both 18). That's interesting and very cool to me because Robert is one of my favourite male rock vocalists ever and Jimmy Page is one of my guitar heroes. I feel I was always meant to be North American though, I love the West Coast and feel like I was always meant to live by the ocean, which I now do! As far as cultural influences on my music...I love West coast rock, and a lot of bands that came from LA and Seattle..here in Vancouver we claim Bryan Adams, who I love, and I'm a big fan of the rock band Heart, who is from Seattle but first found success here in Vancouver. I have a couple of friends who are First Nations artists and they are awesome..and we have a strong blues community here in Vancouver, which I have been a part of for years. My original music definitely leans more towards rock and pop with an R&B influence, though. We are aware that you have sung the national anthem at major sporting events! How have these opportunities come about, and how do they make you feel once you perform in stadiums? I have sung the Canadian and American National Anthems at games for the Vancouver Canucks (NHL), BC Lions (CFL) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. I did the BC Lions game first. I contacted them and they arranged an audition - then I got to sing at a game. Singing for the Vancouver Canucks came about in a slightly different way. There was a competition called "Rock The Rog" ("Rog" for Rogers' Arena) where the winner would get to perform the Anthems at a game. I entered, but I didn't win and thought "oh well". But one day, I received an email from the Canucks. They liked my performance so much that they asked me to sing for them that following week. It was one of the best moments of my career and I have done it a few times since then. There's nothing like having all those sports fans singing along with you! Besides singing the national anthem at major sporting events, what have been some of the funniest moments in your career so far? I used to perform in some "questionable" venues at the start of my career - which I guess you could say is funny. We had a dog pee up the keyboard stand once. Another time there was a bar fight at a place I was playing and one guy drew his hand back ready to throw a punch, but he was so intoxicated he just fell back onto the floor and it was pure comedy gold! I could hardly sing for laughing. Luckily he didn't hit his head or hurt himself or the other guy - that wouldn't have been funny at all. Recently, (this isn't a funny moment, but it is a very proud moment) I got to sing with TOTO in Philadelphia. I love TOTO - they really are some of the best musicians in the world. Steve Lukather is my biggest guitar hero and he's the reason I play guitar. That was probably the best moment of my career so far. Where did the inspiration for “again“ come from? I co-wrote "Again" with my friend and songwriter Lillooet Fox. All my songs are from personal experience and I do write some lyrics, but I mostly write music and Lillooet is a fantastic lyricist. We joke that she's the Bernie (Taupin) to my Elton (John), hahaha! She'll often listen to me talk about whatever is on my mind (sometimes it's a bit like a therapy session) and from that, we'll get some good song ideas. We make a good team and have lots of fun. We both love cooking and have both worked as hairdressers on film and TV sets. Lastly, when do you plan on releasing new music in the new year? My album "Rise Like A Phoenix" is tentatively slated for release in spring 2020. facebook.com/amandadeanmusic instagram.com/amanda_dean_music/ twitter.com/AmandaDeanMusi1 #BuzzMusic
- JWII Creates a Tough Delivery With “Prayer”
Rap is a complex genre that’s filled with various sub-genres which makes the genre subjective and broad enough for any type of listener. For Nebraska-born JWII and his song “Prayer”, he’s representing the old school formula for what rap used to be and what it needs to be now. Through his thought-provoking songwriting, tough delivery, and raw aesthetic, JWII is showing us that real lyricists still exist. “Prayer” had a calm instrumental without having to do the most, and JWII was able to still make the song exciting and undeniably hype. It could be difficult for most rappers to find that balance between authenticity and still remaining marketable, but for JWII he knows exactly how to cultivate a sound that blends between the two. “Prayer” was the song that could get your energy surging and still manage to have an element of realness to it. You can blast this record in your car and still catch the same radiating energy you’ll catch from a club banger. Not only can you feel the exhilarating atmosphere that JWII creates from his delivery, but if you focus on the lyrics, you will be mesmerized by the beauty in his songwriting. The entire aesthetic of “Prayer” showed us that JWII is more than a rookie, but a seasoned professional who just needs the right buzz to send him into the markets of success that he deserves. You can listen to JWII's “Prayer” here! instagram.com/thejw2legacy twitter.com/TheJWIILegacy #BuzzMusic
- 5 Questions With Dallas
You’re from Oak Park, MI - how has being from here influenced your music? My city had no effect on my music because I stopped being involved with its activities many years ago. What was growing up/ your childhood like and how did this lead you to make music? My childhood was very pleasant, to say the least. I was fortunate and blessed enough to have two parents that although didn't live with each other, their relationship naturally was amicable gave me little to no tension or confusion while I was growing up. They also fortunately made a decent living and I was an only child for most of my life so I got everything I wanted and that's something I still appreciate this day. I never got bullied or anything like that so that also played a part in having my childhood enjoyable. How old were you when you realized music was your calling? I was 18 and it was after I recorded my first song Nightly Thoughts. I realized there they could be people out there that could not only relate to what I was saying but like the music as well. So I decided to take any and all of the things that I've ever dealt with and put it into music and I ended up really liking it. What is something unique that you are trying to bring to the Rap game and how do you think you will stand out? I would like to bring a unique sense of authenticity. By that, I mean there are lots of rappers out there that are seen as "relatable". My goal is to take it one step further so that the people that listen to my music feel as if I'm speaking exactly about what they are always dealing with. The stories of their lives if u will lol. Because a lot of rap has to do with self-appreciation if that isn't something that I practice haha. I want people to know there are rappers out there that don't rap about something that they don't believe in. Now, this isn't to glorify or enhance self-image issues if anything I want them to get better. I realize my music can and might have the opposite effect but then I would tell everyone that supports me that they are strong and resilient and should not look down upon themselves. And hopefully when the turn on a song of mine they can at least know I'm in their corner. Lastly, what is the biggest thing you hope to accomplish with your music? How do you hope to inspire future generations? My biggest goal with my music is to in some type of way change social norms. Or invoke some type of thought into an unpopular perspective. I would hope dearly for future generations to stay away from drugs, be responsible, and to be kind to each other. instagram.com/dbeaver04200 #BuzzMusic
