- “One More Time” by Just Dave brings the energy back to hip-hop
Based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Just Dave is a 21-year-old rapper, hip-hop artist, and independent performer. Growing up with a childhood filled with music, Just Dave developed his love of freestyle and writing lyrics throughout highschool. His debut album “Fake” was released in 2018 and garnered the young talent nothing but success. With an impressive musical repertoire and more new music on the way, don’t sleep on Just Dave. The unmistakable sound of Just Dave pours through in the form of an explosive new track “One More Time”. Just Dave smashes into action with this track, a musically pleasing hip-hop-funk soundscape supports a series of hard-hitting or melodically entrancing vocals, each part rhythmically on point and moving the piece along in a uniquely striking way. Everything from the beat to the vocals and the simplicity of that hook lingers in your mind after listening. Fine production by lets the music stand tall, a strong mix means you can turn this up and engage with the energy of each soundscape as much as the personality and storylines at the heart of the writing. Just Dave’s spoken-word vocals are concise and specific, they’re detailed and captivating right through to the end. All of this leans in the direction of originality and character, “One More Time” is absolutely worth a listen! Check out “One More Time” here and read more with Just Dave in our interview below! Hey, Just Dave! Welcome to BuzzMusic! What inspired you to first begin making music and releasing it to the public? Thank you guys for having me! I’ve always had an interest in making music. Even before I could write I would create my own songs with a guitar and my aunt would record them on a tape recorder for me. When I was in middle school, my friends Eric, Elvis and I would freestyle to instrumentals that we found on YouTube when we were at school. But what inspired me to release music of my own to the public was when I went to my first rap concert my sophomore year in high school when my friends and I went to see ScHoolboy Q. Just seeing the artist and the crowd sharing a moment together, and seeing the crowd sing his songs word for word inspired me to create music people could relate to. You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into his lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “One More Time”? This song isn’t one of my more lyrically deep songs because I was trying to make it a fun track to chill to. But when I’m writing a song, especially hooks, I create lyrics that I could imagine someone using as an Instagram caption. One of my favorite lyrics from the hook is, “everything I’ve ever been is everything I am with you,” because I feel that lyric is authentic to me. I’m not really the type of person to change who I am depending on who I’m with or what’s going on in my life, I’m the same with everyone. For the second verse of this song, I had the idea that I wanted to reference as many 90’s to early 2000’s songs as I could. When I began recording the track, I didn’t have anything written for the second verse, so I decided to do it as a freestyle. I referenced artists like Big Pun, the group 112, Lil Rob, and Baby Bash, who were all artists I listened to with my sister while growing up. Since you’ve been making music for a few years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to your newest release “One More Time”? With my earlier material, I feel as though I didn’t capture a vibe as well as I did with this one. My main focus for this track was to make the chorus something that people could hum along to whether or not they know the lyrics. I also became better as a recording engineer through working with a Grammy Award-winning recording studio engineer named Doug Geist, who is based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. We’re super stoked to hear your upcoming album “How You Feel?”. What have been some of your proudest or most memorable moments in music so far? I’m excited for you guys to hear it, so far it’s my best work to date! My proudest moments in music are when I see people connecting and interacting with my music. I’m sure all beginning artists can relate, every time someone shares my song on social media reposts a lyric they liked, or even just reaches out to let you know they support you, makes your day. Another proud moment for me was when my first official track “Don’t” reached over 100,000 total streams. At the time I released it, I didn’t expect over 100, but there was something about it that resonated with people which was awesome. We really appreciate you chatting with us about your incredible music! What’s next for you artistically? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? What I have next creatively is working on my album throughout the rest of this year, and making some songs that I know people can enjoy. In my free time when I’m not working on music, I’m usually training Mixed Martial Arts. It’s something I’ve always loved to do and that I’ve been training in for almost 10 years! Thank you guys again for having me, I’m planning on having the album done by Spring of 2020 and can hopefully catch up with you guys about it then! - Ross Victory Honors His Father In Stunning New Single “Savor The View”
Music has always been an integral part of Ross Victory’s life. The up and coming singer/songwriter grew up to the savory sounds of Jon B., Babyface, Donell Jones and Toni Braxton among others. After purchasing his first electric piano and experimenting with music production software, Ross quickly accumulated an impressive repertoire of songs that ranged from love to gang violence and everything in between. After graduating from college, Ross walked away from his music career and found himself lost inside corporate America. He felt the repercussions of giving up on his true passion. After the loss of his father and brother, Ross finds himself pushed to share his music again and understanding the importance of never leaving music behind again. Ross Victory now steps out with a new single titled “Savor the View”, the new song serves as an outlet for Ross’ deeply personal thoughts and feelings, with a hypnotizing R&B soul. “Savor the View” by Ross Victory is also the sonic extension of his new book "Views from the Cockpit: The Journey of a Son." The R&B ballad comes equipped with smokey vocals, captivating melodies, and a soulful delivery that stays true to the book's message of acceptance. “I still feel you reaching out for me,” “trust the air beneath my wings,” “one last view with you,” Ross sings, reminding us that our pasts have passed—the future is unwritten and, all we can do, in fact, is “cherish moments” and keep it moving. Ross weaves through storytelling elements through his emotive songwriting and R&B stylings. He curates music that is both deeply personal yet his listeners can relate to in order to forge original connections with his fans. Check out “Savor The View” here and read more in our exclusive interview below. Welcome to BuzzMusic Ross Victory! We're excited we get to talk about your latest single "Savor The View"! Are you happy with how the song was produced in the end?! Absolutely. The song is a result of serendipity in the purest sense. I was recording an audiobook and the engineer, Pnxcho!, asked me if I could sing. I told him that singing was my first love, but I stopped singing years ago and he encouraged me to send him a song. Pnxcho! constructed the beat and enlisted the help of another L.A. based vocalist, Alicia Nicole, for background vocals and all of a sudden there was “Savor the View!” The creation of the song is a strong reminder to me, and hopefully, to others, that good things can fall from the sky randomly if you take time to notice and to say, “yes!” Additionally, things (maybe even people) that you love CAN find their way back to you. "Savor The View" is an undeniably emotional song, can you tell us more about the concept of this new track? The core of the song was born in the need for acceptance and ownership of the experience. The song was created with the idea that beautiful moments ultimately fade and should be cherished and held close because of that. I did not want to restrict the song to romantic love, so I kept who/what I was speaking about ambiguous. However, I intended to write about the loss of my father. Especially when I sing, “Your voice is slowly drowning, but I still hear you laughing.” My goal was to simply ignite the sense of awareness to live, let be, and feel it because you can and although a similar moment may reappear, every moment occurs once. What's the most integral element to your music that you find is always integrated into every track you produce? Ya know, I always try to bring some self-awareness or depth to every track I produce. Even for tracks that are intended to be light, depth just comes naturally. Part of what I offer as a writer is that extra layer of depth. In my daily life, I’m someone who is always looking for messages and meanings below the surface. So my aim, and I feel like this style also resonates with listeners, is to always deliver a drop of metaphor, a drop of irony and subtle multi-dimensional words and phrasing that will make someone think when they sing it back or read it back. Tell us more about your book "Views from the Cockpit: The Journey of a Son." Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways? Views from the Cockpit: The Journey of a Son started it all. This book is my first memoir and uses comparative analysis between airplane journeys and life journeys to reflect on father-son memories with my dad that began as a young boy watching airplanes and traveling the world. I wish I could dance, I wish I could graphic design, but at the moment, the scope of my creativity is in music and literary. Thanks so much for chatting with us! What's the major goal for you as an artist? As an artist, all I seek is to continue to create, if not just for myself, and have maximum impact in music and literary by being authentic and communicating relatable and inspirational messages to the general public! Thank you for your time! Connect with Ross Victory on social media www.instagram.com/rossvictoryofficial #BuzzMusic
- Catching up with The Como Brothers!
This year has been production, to say the least, for The Como Brothers. Matt and Andrew Como are a musical duo that combines pop, soft-rock, and blues to create original tracks that demand to be heard. The dynamic duo has an impressive musical repertoire, including their 5 new songs released this year. Their latest releases have been recorded with Grammy-nominated recording engineer Kenta Yonesaka at Germano Studios in New York City. Kicking off the year with “One & Only”, The Como Brothers quickly followed with release with my personal favorite, a funk-inspired pop-rock single “Money”. Slowing things down but still keeping that sway to their authentic sound, “Take Me Home” follows a blissful story-line and features The Como Brothers expert lyricism and brilliant instrumentation. One of the brother’s newest releases, “Shooting Star” is an explosive new track that I hope to see more of in the near future. “I See Something” was just released early October and is a raw and open new love ballad from The Como Brothers. It showcases not only their heart but the admirable versatility these guys are able to showcase. We can never get enough of The Como Brothers and we’re always excited to feature their new music. Stay on the lookout for their brand new single “Cheap Talk” coming soon! Listen to the Como Brothers music here and read more below! Welcome back, Matt and Andrew! It’s such a pleasure to chat with you again. You’ve had a really incredible year! What would you say you’re the proudest of? I would say that we’re most proud of the fact that we’ve been releasing a new song once a month this year. We began releasing a new song every 30 days starting this past July, and we will continue to do so through the end of 2020. “I See Something” is a great new track but it seems to have a meaningful message behind the lyrics. Can you tell us more about this song in particular? I See Something is a love song that I wrote for a former girlfriend of mine. It was my way of letting her know how I felt about her Of all of the venues you’ve toured this year, what city or venue has been the most memorable and why? I don’t know if we have a single venue that’s our favorite. We have various favorites for different reasons. We love some venues that we’ve played at in NYC; Webster Hall, The Cutting Room, Hard Rock Café in Times Square. We also love playing at the Middle East in Boston. "One & Only" is the perfect track to introduce new listeners to your sound in 2019. Where did you draw inspiration for this particular track? Matt wrote this one about someone he was interested in at the time. He was going to show the person the song, but he never did. Since you’ve been making music for several years, how would you compare some of the earlier material you’ve written to one of your newer releases like “Shooting Star”? We’re always trying to refine our playing, singing, and writing abilities. I’m not sure how to compare it to our earlier material other than we view it as more mature and enhanced. Thank you for talking with us once again! What can you tell us about your upcoming single “Cheap Talk”? Thanks for having us! Cheap Talk comes out on November 19th. It’s about people in your life that talk behind your back but smile to your face. We’re super excited to release the song and can’t wait for everyone to hear it! The release will be accompanied by a music video. www.instagram.com/como.brothers www.facebook.com/thecomobrothers #BuzzMusic

We can’t wait to hear more from this up and coming artist! Check out “Trouble” here and read more with Martina in our exclusive interview below! Hello Martina Armour! We're beyond happy to be featuring you and your debut release "Trouble" on BuzzMusic! What’s it like for you to finally be releasing your music to the public? Hi BuzzMusic, thank you so much for featuring me! To finally have my first single released has been such a whirlwind of feelings. Relief mixed excitement, happiness and fear. What if no one will listen to it? What if only my mom will stream it… What if, what if… It’s really hard finally releasing something into the world that you’ve spent months working on in your own cave not knowing how it’s gonna be received. But so far ‘Trouble’ has exceeded my expectations! "Trouble" is flooded with articulate emotions. What feelings did you want listeners to be washed over with when listening to the song? I want the listeners to feel that struggle between desire and danger. It’s that moment when you want something so much but you fear it might be the end of you. Really like playing with fire, someone’s gonna get hurt. But us humans tend to dismiss logic when we really, really want something. Is live performance something that’s important to you? How do you feel when you're performing? Can you describe the essence of your shows? I do really enjoy performing live, it’s very electric and I think it’s an important way to connect to your listeners. I do get varies degrees of stage fright but it dissolves once I start singing and get out of my own head. My shows are very intimate and acoustic, it feels like I truly leave a piece of my heart on stage. It’s funny because I’m such a control freak where I rehearse everything very meticulously but when it comes to stage banter, I just can’t plan it. All improvised (with various results of success, haha!). So that’s something I’m working on. Have you always lived in Los Angeles? How do you think being based here influences your sound and artistry? I actually grew up in Sweden, but I’ve lived in LA for 9 years so I’m starting to feel very rooted here. Being in LA, you are exposed to so much great music. There are shows everywhere and all the bands I love usually makes a stop here, so I’m very fortunate. I get so much out watching live shows, whether it’s something intimate at Hotel Cafe or huge like Hollywood Bowl. It’s from those live shows I get a lot of inspiration. Also being surrounded by people who are constantly pushing for their dreams, really helps me stay motivated and wanting to do the same. It was amazing showcasing "Trouble" to our listeners, and getting to know you as an artist in the process! Any words you'd like to leave the BuzzMusic community off with?! I’d like to thank the BuzzMusic community for reading this. If you like the song check out the music video for it, out now! I was fortunate to work with such amazing people. The story is told by two dancers and they’re so good it gives me chills every time. Also, if you’re curious to hear more of my music you can check me out on Spotify. If you press that follow button next to Martina Armour, you’ll automatically keep up with my upcoming releases. Next up is a song called ‘Knife’, recorded at the iconic The Village Studios which I can’t wait for you to hear! Hope to see you online or at a venue near you. www.instagram.com/MartinaArmour www.facebook.com/MartinaArmourMusic #BuzzMusic
- Canadian Punk/Metal band Maso·K·ist release New Single “Inner-Space”
Maso·K·ist is an exciting punk-rock/metal band from Vancouver Island, Canada. Their new song “Inner-Space” is made of up short lines and moments, distinct riffs and lyrics, plenty of space and rhythm. This gives it a quickly memorable aura, not unlike the way that effective pop music tends to work. With this, that leading voice, complete with its depth of tone and that near-whispered rasp, walks hand-in-hand with the simple swagger of the guitars, the bass, and the drums. You get a slightly indie-rock, anthem-vibe from this set-up – reminiscent of the sound of the mainstream just a decade or so ago. Maso·K·ist make sure to keep bringing you back to these elements that make the style their own. Part of this is the softening reverb and production approach, and the overall concept. “Inner-Space” is well worth listening to in full more than just the one time. The groove is easy to get into anyway, partly nostalgic but generally just a pleasure to play at volume, the lyrics though offer a little bit more each time. They connect for their originality, for their honesty, and the mild sense of vulnerability they seem to share. Hopefully, we’ll be hearing a lot more from Maso·K·ist in the near future! Check out “Inner-Space” here and read more with Maso·K·ist below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! It’s a pleasure to chat with you! Who are the members of Maso·K·ist and how did the band come together? Masokist eagle – “Back when I was studying music at Selkirk College in Nelson B.C. I was asking myself why I’m even doing music if I’m not putting on extreme punk rock shows to match the intensity of my songs. So one morning I woke up feeling all sorts of sad and decided to make a band called ‘Orangutan Dang’ so I opened a word document and wrote, “Orangutan Dang is… Masokist eagle,” and so on and so forth and recruited Kyle Albrecht on guitar, Jordan Lysenko on drums, Devon Gestrin on Keys, and James Still on bass… I had the entire band formed by the end of the day. As you’ve probably figured out I eventually decided to just use my first name stylized as ‘Maso·K·ist’ because it’s harder, things are always more fun when they’re hard.” Do you believe that the way you intend to communicate your messages through your music is easily received by your listeners? What is the meaning of the lyrics within “Inner-Space” and how do you hope your listeners feel when hearing it? M.e. – “What listeners? (Laughs) I encourage people to think for themselves when it comes to art. I feel when I tell someone what my message is or the point I’m trying to make it limits their perspective and the impact a song can truly have on an individual based on their own experience, who am I to tell you “that’s not what the songs about”. Make it your own, you as the perceiver are now the creator…. and without giving too much away, that is what ‘Inner-Space’ is about.” “Inner-Space" was an incredibly versatile and category transforming track. Where did you draw the inspiration to create this particular type of sound? M.e – “It’s funny you should ask, because with any of my other songs I’d be able to tell what I was listening to or what I wanted to sound like, but the music for ‘Inner-Space’ just came out of nowhere. I was just chillin’ messing around between two chords and slipped in this awesome bass line, it was a very thoughtless process to say the least. Lyrically though I had recently heard The Cures ‘One Hundred Years’ and was intrigued by Robert Smiths opening lyric “It doesn’t matter if we all die”, I thought it was such a heavy mood to start their ‘Pornography’ record, so I immediately wrote down the opening lyric for Inner-Space “Everything that’s living will one day die.” And that got the ball rolling for this song, thank you Robert.” How would you say that "Inner-Space" compares to the kind of music you curated when you first started out as an artist?! M.e. – “You know, ‘Inner-Space’ is actually the first song I ever wrote. For you guys on the internet it’s brand spankin’ new, but for me it dates back about seven years while I was just a kid in high school attempting to make good choices and healthy coping mechanism for the first time…. nothing worked (chuckles). How I write now there’s definitely a stronger delivery and I’m more foul mouthed with my vocabulary because when I was kid I didn’t think could speak or say things the way I do now… I probably just care less, or maybe my brain is degenerating to a lower moral state, or perhaps I’m just ugly… so many questions not enough answers. When I wrote this song I was very unsatisfied with the lyrics, but over time I’ve come to appreciate the innocuous element that surrounds this track and wouldn’t change anything about it for the world.” It was awesome to be able to present "Inner-Space" here on BuzzMusic! What do you think is next for Maso·K·ist? Where do you hope to progress within the next couple of years?! M.e. – “As of write right now I don’t have a live band to perform with and I'm temporarily located in the only town on Vancouver Island that has a strip club which is where I like to spend my Sundays for religious reasons. I hope to move to Vancouver and maybe reform Maso·K·ist with different people because our live shows were truly a spectacle that Nelson wasn’t able to handle. But I’m the type of person who doesn’t like to limit myself so it’d be cool to collaborate with other artist or join someone else’s band. I’ve been playing a lot of Queen & Black Sabbath on my bass because I love those bands and would really like to play bass for someone, or sing. Our Next single ‘Pro-Create Hate’ drops on November 29th and our ‘SEx SELLS’ Ep is due December 6th which will feature our final single ‘ignorance is Piss Connect with Maso·K·ist on social media www.instagram.com/masokist.music
