- BuzzMusic Catches Up With HYLYND In An Exclusive Interview!
Welcome back HYLYND! We love the music video for “Fool”! Where was the majority of it filmed? What was the creation process like? Hey BuzzMusic! Thank you. We filmed all of it in Dallas, TX in a few different locations, one of them being my previous apartment. Was it your first time working with this director? What was that experience like? This was my 4th time shooting with Zack Tzourtzouklis, who is an amazing director. He’s got that perfect balance of knowing what to do and how to do it, but also being collaborative in the process and inviting the artist into that. I get a strong sense that you think a little more deeply on things than most. Where do you generally get your inspiration from, and is there anything outside of music that drives you creatively? I definitely keep watch on what’s going on in our world and that includes discerning emotional climates of regions/nations and how that’s affecting where we’re going. I love podcasts. Getting info in our world is easy, but getting clarity on what’s really going on isn’t, especially if you’re satisfied with how things appear topically. Your music is extremely creative and unpredictable! How do you usually get started when crafting your beats, and how do you know when a track is ready to go? Thank you! I start with anything that surprises me or makes me feel a type of way. Sometimes that’s a chord sequence, a vocal hook where the pocket and melody just feel right, or a beat that just tells you where to go when it hits. I always just “know” when it’s ready. You voice is incredibly unique! Have you had any professional training? Thank you. Yes! Most recently with Jan Smith Aka “Mama Jan” who works with artists like Usher, Justin Bieber, etc. I went to an arts school in high school and did a summer program at Juilliard way back when. What’s next for you through the end of 2019? Releasing more music, shows, a cover single release with Sony ATV, and a very special idea that I’m working on that hopefully comes to fruition by the end of this year! - Hei$enberg Needs Himself A “Bad Chick”
Born Steven Scott in the small town of Jasper, Texas, music has always been a passion of talented artist Hei$enberg. Known as the privileged kid from the projects, he turned to a life of selling drugs in his teen years and ended up serving 40 months in prison. The experience changed his outlook on life and his overall mindset. Establishing his craft from the ground up, Hei$enberg threw all of his energy into making music. Influenced by legends like E-40, Snoop Dog, Slim Thug, TI, Tupac and the Geto Boys, Hei$enberg brings his own unique style to hip-hop. "Bad Chick” is a quirky new song that elaborates on a woman who is all about her business. Hei$enberg adds a bit of humor included in the lyrics and powerful punchlines. “Bad Chick” is an anthem for women, creatively free and spacious but rhythmic enough to build a sense of togetherness in the room. Simplicity of production continues amidst unique instrumental layers and decidedly original beats. There’s always a strong beat to connect with! “Bad Chick” stands out for its louder confidence and that anthem-like rhythm and energy. Hei$enberg takes full advantage of the opportunity to perform and enjoy himself, and it shows well. As the track goes on, there are elements of fun with color and volume. Hei$enberg leaves nothing unsaid, and that makes the experience a heavy yet worthy one. We can’t wait to see what he does next! Listen to “Bad Chick” here and read more with Hei$enberg below. Hey Hei$enberg, thanks for the interview! How has 2019 been going so far? Your welcome, thanks for having me! 2019 has been going great. I am alive and healthy, thank God! I have been busy working on music and perfecting my craft. I feel like I have been all over the place, trying to balance music and spending time with my family but it has been a beautiful experience. For those who are new to your work, how would you describe your sound and your approach to making music? I think I have a very unique sound. My sound will vary, due to the fact that I have a few different styles. I would definitely say my sound has southern written all over it. When making music, I like to let the beat paint a picture for me in my head. I want the beat to take me somewhere, and when it does, I write based on where it took me. We love your track “Bad Chick”! What do you hope people take away from this one? I stepped out of my comfort zone with Bad Chick. I wanted this track to sound totally different than what is currently out on the market. My goal was to inspire and uplift women on this track. I hope this song makes people laugh and feel good about themselves. I definitely threw a few adlibs in to add some humor. In a nutshell, my focus was to bring something with a global sound that could be played in clubs and on the radio. What is it about hip hop that draws such passion from you? Hip-hop is somewhat like therapy to me, whether I am writing lyrics or listening to other artists. I love hip-hop and music in general. It's amazing how music can have such an impact on your mood. If I am down, I will listen to something that will put me in a better state of mind. Music is a drug within itself. I am a very passionate person. I do everything to the best of my ability. So it's only right to have passion about something you're in love with. What’s next for you? I will be releasing a video for Bad Chick in mid November. I don't have an exact date set at this time. I will also be releasing my next single Get It And Go in December, which will be followed up with an EP that will come the first quarter of 2020. The name of the EP is called Spoiled Project Kid. - Rock Trio Hosemen Speak Their Truth With “Hollow Man”
An uncommonly hypnotic rock trio, Hosemen finds inspiration everywhere from the streets of Rotterdam to their hometown of Stamford, Connecticut. Guitarist and frontman Anthony Quinn Carpanzano formed the band in 2005, changing the name from Mantyhose to Hosemen when bassist Brien Adams (2016) and drummer Michael Neidhardt joined in 2019. After more than a decade of dedication to songwriting and supporting the local music scene, Quinn and his Hosemen are finally ready to break out of the tristate area with their full length album “Saturday Nite Conformity”. From the album “Saturday Nite Conformity”, “Hollow Man” is something of a classic anthem, the sort that brings people together for the unique perspective, the riffs and the accessible vocals. Everything is here that needs to be, those vocals feel familiar yet strong, gritty and fresh enough to appeal in a new way, the guitar work is somewhat humble yet perfectly effective, and the band’s shared passion for and unity within the performance lets “Hollow Man” stand all the more tall. The musicianship is there, the skill and the energy, but all too often the creative expression seems to mean a little less than you want it to. In this case, “Hollow Man” feels relatable yet unique, these words have never quite connected in such a way, and there’s a definite streak of recognisable freshness in that hook. Stay tuned, 2019 will be a big year for rock music and Hosemen. Check out more on Hosemen and their music here! Stay connected with Hosemen via their social media: Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
- Singer & the Scientist Bring Spectacular Visual Realness To “In My Head”
Based in Los Angeles is a talented electronic duo, Singer & the Scientist. Featuring the driving vocals of Kenley Shea and the quirky synthesis creations of Steve Channell. S&TS was born in the valley of Los Angeles in 2014, when the two met coincidentally as next door neighbors in a small LA apartment complex. Coming from opposite music backgrounds, it’s no surprise they faced trials and tribulations to create their first song. . After a few failed song attempts, they pressed on to write their first single “Notice Me”. This began their journey together to find their unique sound as Singer & the Scientist. Following up on their debut album, “Electric Heartbreak”, S&TS is releasing a string of new singles, which take a sharp turn from the previous record. Authenticity is always on the forefront of Singer & the Scientist’s mind as they write, record, and perform. They pay homage to the driving sounds of 80’s synth-pop and bands like Sylvan Esso, Chvrches, and St. Vincent. Singer & the Scientist dropped a brand new music video for their track “In My Head”. We were immediately greeted by the overwhelming presence of 80’s synth-pop, personified. Through their authentic sound and spectacular visuals, “In My Head” makes waves in the music scene. The chemistry and amusement is easily seen within the music video. Singer & the Scientist provide a track where the rhythm and the finish are superb. Wonderfully nostalgic for those who knew the club sound of the nineties and earlier, and yet somehow exciting enough to securely fit in among today’s creative world. The artistry of this project offers something that hasn’t quite been captured to this extent in a long time. I highly recommend you check out this hard-hitting music video for “In My Head”. Listen to “In My Head” here, check out the music video below and read more with Singer & the Scientist in our interview! Hi Singer & the Scientist! What advice would you give to yourselves when you first started writing music, now? (Steve) - Don’t chase trends. Figure out who you are and work hard to make it something you feel good about regardless of what other people are doing. That way there’s satisfaction in the journey regardless of the destination. (Kenley) - Don’t try and fit your piece of talent into someone else puzzle, just because it’s convenient or others expect you to. Enjoy the freedom to take your puzzle piece and explore where that puzzle piece actually fits, no matter how long it takes. Can you tell us about the meaning behind the lyrics in “In My Head”? (Kenley) - “In My Head” shows a journey of intense dependance on something or someone that trumps the couragiousness to leave your comfort zone. Against all the crystal clear proofs and all the good reasons to leave that toxic lifestyle or relationship, you simply shrug your shoulders and dive head first into the very thing you know is going to hold you captive. And it will hold you there. It will consume your thoughts, steal all your self-love, and leave you powerless to its appearance of necessity. Can you tell us more about the concept behind the visuals for “In My Head”? (Steve) - We wanted to counter any perceived weakness or failure that is sometimes associated with expressing difficulties in a relationship. Instead, reflecting on the power, control, and overall bad ass confidence that it takes to open up. Visually, we shot it all on a 90’s Hi8 camera because we like the look and it’s still very affordable to do. It’s also a ton of fun. We’re independent and do everything on own budget, so this gave us some flexibility to do something artistic and indie without having to resort to an iPhone. We shot the throne parts in my apartment and the rest of the music parts in an artist owned warehouse in downtown LA. What do you hope your listeners take away from the “In My Head” music video? (Steve) - I hope it takes them to a fun place for those few minutes and that they pick up on some of the not so obvious details we put in the video. (Kenley) - When I watch it, I feel this amazing sense of nostagia of sitting on my neighbors couch as a kid in the early 90’s and watching my favorite bands on MTV. I’m hoping others can experience that little bit of throwback magic too. What are your career goals for the remainder 2019? We’d love to hear your ideas! (Steve) - We’ve been working with some old and new friends on some remixes that will be releasing soon which we are excited about, it will be the first time we’ve ever done that. They are a lot of fun! Connect further with S&TS via their socials below! Facebook Instagram Twitter #BuzzMusic

- Lockness Turns Heads With Hard-Hitting Track, “The Old Testament”
Lockness, is an American songwriter, born and raised in San Diego, California. Currently residing in Phoenix, Arizona, he is well in tune with the culture and lifestyle of things on the Westside of the map. Growing up in a gang infested environment he had his share of losses and depressing times. Prison cells and bullet wounds are a small part of the harsh reality that he and many others like him have had to endure. Using his music and writing as an outlet, Lockness’ versatility is showcased in his music and shows the different aspects of life that he has personally experienced. With influences from Tupac, Biggie, Ice Cube, and Jay-Z he has learned how to reveal his story through his craft. “The Old Testament” is Lockness’ latest single and makes for a strong starting point if you’re new to his music. While the lyrics feel notably rooted in the drive and confidence of modern rap, the music and Lockness’ own vocals add a unique authenticity. “The Old Testament” is definitely hip hop with a certain identity and difference to it. It’s an easy anthem for contemporary hip hop fans. Lockness drives with a simple lust for life with catchy hooks, laid-back concepts, professionalism and style. This release is far from the exception and offers yet another track that further cements Lockness’ sound and approach as an artist. “The Old Testament” is a song that connects a little more strongly with each few moments that pass by, and with each repeated listen. While that initial quirk of the concept and the hook, is the first to grab you, the song actually goes on to lead with a notably energizing beat, a heavy vibe, great rhythm, and something more of an alternative, late-night aura than anything purely designed for the pop world. Well worth a few listens! Listen to “The Old Testament” here and read more with Lockness below! Can you tell us more about “The Old Testament”? What were you hoping to achieve with this track? This song is really based off of a culture and way a life. Being from the streets there is a code you stick too and some take it as serious as religion. There’s certain things you believe in and certain boundaries you wouldn’t step out of if you respect the culture. With this song I wanted to to share a little bit about me and my past endeavors. I feel like that’s what separates me. I speak the truth! How do you generally get started when crafting a new track, and how do you know it’s truly finished? Usually I just say whatever comes to mind when I play the beat. Have the mic going and just rap whatever I feel like should be on there. Try different melodies, concepts etc. If I have a recording I like I might punch in and keep on going with the hook. I do verses the same way. I have a small circle of people I trust to give me opinions on certain songs. If they like it the song is done. Lol. Who do you admire in the music world right now? I admire the fact that the artist can get the music out directly to fans a lot faster. Also that you don’t necessarily need a label anymore because of social media and other outlets. Who would you love to collaborate with? DJ Quik! Discover more on Lockness via his socials below! Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic
- Check Out Faux Bandit’s Brand New EP “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019”
Exploding with their adrenaline pumping hard-rock, Faux Bandit are here, releasing their third EP, “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019”. It showcases their rage-fuelled, cynical humor with the welcomed addition of a third member, Zac Sakrewski on Bass. Blurring the lines between hard rock and indie-rock, Faux Bandits bring raw energy and an indefinitely loud testimony to the magic of the underground scene. Faux Bandit comes out loud, hard and ferocious with their onslaught of speaker melting, unbridled rage. These bandits are on tour throughout August and September, playing 7 shows throughout Brisbane, Ipswich, Sydney and Melbourne. Taking a stab at the Rock'n'Roll celebrity lifestyle, “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019” is Faux Bandit’s best example of their embedded dry-wit. Hard-hitting guitar riffs and thunderous melodies start the track “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019” off to an incredible launch. The contagious tune blends perfectly with the heavy and quirky vocals. Elements of contemporary rock blend with elements of gritty excellence in this taste of musical chaos. “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019” explodes into infectious melodies and catchy riffs. With more of a storytelling and comedic approach, “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019” delivers powerful and precise vocals. Faux Bandit has inspiring and special ideas when it comes to creating music. The whole band’s chemistry is evident through the speakers. Dedication to craft in the detail is admirable while the infectious and vivid music fused together is awakening. Layered guitars, ground breaking vocals and a powerful deliver give “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019” the punch it needed. I highly recommend you check out this track and the entire 5-track EP “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019”. Featuring hard-hitting and ferocious tracks such as to title track listed above, “Do Better, Be Better”, “Intruder Blues”, “Sad” and “The Pros And Cons Of Object Permanence”. Listen to “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019” here and read more with Faux Bandit in our interview below! Hi guys! Can you start by introducing yourselves to our readers? Hi there we are Faux Bandit, three guys (Josh, Zac and Adam) from Brisbane, Australia who make rock music. How did you come up with the band name Faux Bandit? It’s partly a take on other rock bands who string together cool sounding words that don’t really mean anything coughroyalbloodcough. So it's like pretending to be an outlaw or a bandit but really its just a bunch of white guys writing rock music. Hence Faux Bandit. What’s the overall theme of your track “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019"? “Rock’n’Roll Simulator 2019” is a sort of critique of the music industry and celebrity culture, focused on rock music. I think there is a sort of escapism people get from listening to some rock music. This mentality of “if I listen to Mick Jagger enough then I’ll be cool like him”. How do you want the listener to feel when they hear it? Ideally I’d like people to openly revolt against Aerosmith until they stop playing “Eat the Rich” live without any sense of irony. But actually I’d really just like it if listeners enjoyed the groove of it. What’s your writing process like as a group? The three of us get in a room, which at the moment is a renovated shipping container, and throw ideas at each other and improvise until we have the structure of a song. Then I steal it away and write lyrics for it and then come back and we file it down until we are happy with it, or we throw it away and do it again. Tell us more about your third EP “Rock'n'Roll Simulator 2019”! “Intruder Blues” is not a blues song, it’s about a man who builds a tower out of milk-crates and breaks into heaven. “Do Better, Be Better” is not a motivational song and is mostly just complaining. “Sad” was originally called “SAD-01” but Spotify and apple music rejected the title for being “too generic”, which made us sad. Hopefully there is an appropriate amount of yelling, harmonized guitar riffs, distorted bass fills and references to Johnny Cash (1) for everyone to have a good time. Thanks for listening! - Groove Along With Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers And Their Debut Album “Stuck In A Daydream”
Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers mix Americana, blues, rock & roll, folk, psychedelia, and even Bossa-Nova that makes it a unique sound in its own right. The Los Angeles quartet is the brainchild of Molly Hanmer, formed in 2015 to continue her musical journey. The band is now formed by Molly Hanmer (Lead Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica, Songwriting), John Bird (Organ, Wurlitzer, Piano, Backwards Piano, Vocals), Graham Chapman (Bass Guitar, Stand-up Bass, Vocals) Keith Palmer (Drums, Percussion, Vocals). Together they mix a multitude of influences and styles, with their music usually labeled as psychedelic folk-rock. Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers’ style switches it up, making you stamp your boots on the floorboards and clap along on one track; and weep, pull out your journal and express bottled up feelings on the next. Their debut album “Stuck In A Daydream” was released Fall 2018. “Stuck In A Daydream” by Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers is a contagious folk album that showcases the collective’s chemistry and undeniable skill. The album begins with “Take a Walk with Me”, a high energy track with an infectious melody and groovy rhythms that are easy to dance along to. This is the kind of song that needs to be heard live to fully enjoy the experience of Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers. “Real Love” is a more mellow track that highlights the emotive lyricism and poetry of Molly Hanmer. We love the free flowing sound arrangements and overall positive energy this band puts out into the world. “Fool’s Run (Different Song” is a retrospective track that tells is heavily laden with storytelling elements and rhythmic textures. The evidently bluegrass tune allow listeners to escape into the music and spectacular vocals by Molly. As the album transitions into “Old Number Seven” were introduced to a bouncing drum-line that demands attention. With a saloon style organ laying down a flowing melody and Molly Hanmer delivering sultry vocals, this is an instant hit in our books. “Love Song” is a light-hearted tune that quite obviously takes on the theme of the title. Molly’s versatile and angelic vocals take centre stage to take you on a journey through the music. Another melancholic, yet pleasantly mellow track is the title track on the album “Stuck in a Daydream”. With an alluring key change featured half-way through, “Stuck in a Daydream” is a song about loneliness and finding a sense of belonging. That’s the way this track resonates with me. Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers have the admirable quality of creating lyrics that can be interpreted differently depending on the listener. “Come Back” is an upbeat and energetic song with a clear and soaring voice, eloquent and tasteful fingerstyle guitar playing, and a knack for lyrical detail with songs steeped in stories from the heart. “Outlaw Blues” has a melodically refreshing sound and a quirky theme to it, the blues anthem takes listeners on a ride through the diversity of Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers’ sound. “Drag You Along” takes another pace change with it’s mellow bossa-nova attitude. Molly’s tone completely takes a 180 as her smokey voice moves through the speakers. “Workers’ Lament” is a sing along anthem for anyone from all walks of life to enjoy. Folk-laden and contagious. Get ready to be swept away into a powerful story, soulful lyricism and flawless vocals backed by vulnerable and emotive poetry. As the album approaches conclusion, “Dead Happy” switches things up with its groovy, psychedelic rhythms and tight grooves. The concluding and final track on “Stuck In A Daydream” is “Mama’s in the Spirit World Now. Grab your tissues and enjoy Molly’s raw and honest narrative. Whether the song brings you comfort, sadness or just a mesmerizing acoustic set, it’s heart-wrenching and beautiful. The album “Stuck In A Daydream” is a brilliant musical masterpiece. It’s a true success for a debut album. We love what this group brings to the table and we can’t wait to hear what they deliver next. Stay tuned! Check out “Stuck In A Daydream” here and read more with Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers below! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you meet? How did Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers come to fruition? I grew up hearing lots of music, and was a big Beatles fan from an early age. My dad played guitar and so when I was about 9 years old I would mess around with that eventually taking lessons at 13. My musical world changed when I first heard Bob Dylan at 15. Dylan spoke to me in a very genuine way. I wrote my first song in 2010 then called "Song to Bob," an homage to Dylan's "Song to Woody." I didn't consider a career in music, because it seemed like such a long shot so I moved to SF and started college. In my 2nd year, I met Claudia Miles who is now my manager and she wanted to know why I wasn't pursuing music. The truth is, I didn't think I was good enough or that it was practical. Claudia thought that was crazy. She began to challenge me about that notion and urged me to write songs. As I began to write, I realized I *had* to pursue music, practical or not. I would never be able to live fully without pursuing my passion. Eventually we both moved to Los Angeles, and with Claudia's help, I formed a band, Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers. We met John Bird and Keith Palmer out at local clubs in LA. I immediately recognized that they were superb musicians. They had been playing with one of my dad’s friends, Terry Barbieri, and with Claudia’s help I worked up the courage to ask if they would also like to be in my band. We all clicked and we’ve been family ever since. What is the main theme for your album “Stuck In A Daydream”? A theme common throughout Stuck in a Daydream is the struggle to navigate one’s journey through life. Whether it’s bills, or politics, or relationships, or family, we are expected to keep it together regardless of how broken down we are feeling. My mom died suddenly and unexpectedly at age 54 in 2015 while I was writing this album, and that was devastating. But the world kept turning, work kept calling, the album still needed finishing. The 2016 election swept the world into an unprecedented dark place as this fascist buffoon somehow made his way into the White House. So I think a lot of the songs on here are exploring the struggle to keep up with an ever changing world, while somehow finding a way to stay present and connect with others. Can you tell us the meaning behind the lyrics in the title track “Stuck In A Daydream”? The song “Stuck in a Daydream” was inspired by my inability to communicate my feelings in a relationship, but it goes beyond that. To communicate your feelings you have to be able to identify what it is that’s going on inside one's self in the first place, and that’s not always clear or easy to know. Especially if you’ve learned to put your needs second the way I did, identifying your wants and grievances can be a difficult task. The opening line of the chorus is “How can I tell you what goes on, when I don’t know myself.” In other words, if I don’t know how I feel or who I am, how am I supposed to communicate to you what that is? What was the writing process like for this album? I wrote "Stuck in a Daydream" and "Drag You Along" while I was in the studio, the same year my mother died. For a time, writing songs and showing up felt more like work than joy, and I thought something was wrong with me. I didn’t have to confidence in myself to write original songs that were worth anything. It took a minute to realize that that was simply because I was grieving the death of my mom. One of the songs on the album, "Drag You Along," was written about trying to put one foot in front of the other while grieving a loss. That time was pretty surreal. It was hard to have the energy to record, but I did it. And I dedicated the album to my mom. I'm really glad she had the opportunity to hear me play and hear a lot of the songs that are on that album before she died. What’s next for Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers? We’ve just recorded some new songs with *two* 2-time Grammy winners, Sheldon Gomberg and Billy Mims for our second album. Rather than self-releasing this one, we are talking to labels this time and plan to release it through a label. We want to tour, either on our own or with another band so that we can finally bring the live show to our fans across the country. The best way for people to find out about new shows and new releases is to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Spotify or any streaming service of their choosing! We want to keep making the best music we can and getting it to our fans, and by following us on those platforms fans can help us do just that. - Nyjo Makes Waves With Timeless Hit “C.U.M. (Can’t Understand Me)”
Nyjo (pronounced Nyyo) is a singer/songwriter born in Nassau, Bahamas. Greg Brennen, Nyjo’s father and a musician as well, later toured internationally and domestically playing in his godfather’s band. Growing up in West Palm Beach, Florida, a young Nyjo immersed himself in any opportunities that allowed him to sing or perform. He was inspired at a very young age by his father and Godfather. At 17 years old, he remembers the defining moment when he had an epiphany in his musical journey. “I locked myself in my room and I wrote my 1st song in 15 minutes. I was going through the things that most teenage boys with a big heart does. Minutes later I wrote my 2nd song ‘Can’t Understand Me,’ which is actually my new single!” “C.U.M.” is authentically unlike anything else around right now. The opening moments hint at this, but the progression of the track complete with its various stages and scenes, propel the whole thing to even greater realms of unpredictability. It’s only really during the latter half that this industrial and spacious beat really takes hold for longer than a few seconds. Elsewhere, the journey is as cinematic and detailed as it is gritty and minimalist, feeling like an experimental work of art as much as a dance-floor smash for the peak of the night. Nyjo is authentically original and a refreshing addition to the music scene. Check out “C.U.M. (Can’t Understand Me)” here and read more with Nyjo below! Hi Nyjo! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did know that music was something you wanted to pursue? Thanks for having me! I believe when I noticed it was one of the most rewarding and scariest things I could ever do. I got my start doing a lot of musical theatre as a child. Singing and reciting a lot of lines that wasn't my own. People never know you, but your characters. So I started writing songs at 17 to soundtrack my life. I even stopped keeping a journal since then so all of my emotions could be channeled into my writings. It made me feel vulnerable, confident, broken, sexy but to turn those emotions into my own sounds? Fulfilled. What inspired the lyrics in your track “C.U.M.”? C.U.M (Can't Understand Me) is an extremely intricate song so a lot. First, love inspires all of my writings. It's a rebellious, fuck-off love song at its base. FYI It was the 2nd song I've ever written at age 17. It was such an Age of Exploration, trying to figure yourself out. But plenty of that exploration still bleeds over into your adult life. That's why I chose to record it. Still trying to understand yourself, self-love on yourself late at night and on others. That's why I recorded all the C.U.M sounds differently because honestly, there are so many ways to. How does your music now, compare to when you first began writing? How have you developed as an artist? When I started writing songs, I had no idea how old I would be when I finally recorded them. I made a conscious decision to write mature songs that I could sing in adulthood. The comparison is I still use that rule of thumb sometimes now. I have songs about marriage and fatherhood and haven't experienced both yet. I developed as an artist because I know now more than ever my strengths and weaknesses. As Executive Producer, you can have a lot of business going on that can stifle creativity. Since I've written over 300 songs (excluding Christmas songs!). It takes the pressure off writer's blocks and allows me to just focus on recording. I assess my current mood, pool about 40 songs that relate and choose that 1. My current life experiences, which assist in emotional recalls for recordings, helps propel my artistry forward. What do you want your listeners to take away from your music? My music is me so essentially I want them to relate and take a piece of me with them during their day. I'm an emerging artist so the 3 songs I have out now is introducing them to me also. 'That Thing Called Love' is about a yearning love jones and falling in love. 'The Concept Of Getting Over You' takes place after. It's about a difficult breakup or loss, trying to cope. And 'C.U.M' is about raising a middle finger to the love you lost, feeling sexy and finding yourself victoriously. It's my mood now and favorite bop. My #HotBoySummer vibe if you will. LOL I want listeners to feel that whatever they are experiencing out of the 3, they aren't alone in their moods. And if it's done correctly hopefully in years to come they'll use their own emotional recall to remember where they were at when they first heard me. I want to soundtrack their lives now. What’s next for you? I just filmed my 4th music video that will follow C.U.M sometime in 2020. I'm also an Actor and Film Producer so for scheduling sake, I had to knock it out early. It's apart of what I've been calling my EP songs the 'Lightning In A Bottle' sessions. They remind me of lightning in the sky, none are the same but striking. I've done Pop, Alternative R&B and Pop Rock. The next one was inspired by 1970s Funk and R&B music especially the band Raydio. I'm proud that my songs are so eclectic. But right now, my sole focus is sharing C.U.M with as many listeners as possible. Its hasn't been out for a month yet and its actually starting to move on internet radio. I would love for it to be on stations rotations, pop up in a few film projects/tv spots. I'm open to having remixes with rappers. Can I get Meg, Trina or the City Girls? A man can dream. Also submitting myself to performances now, which is very important for an emerging artist. I want it to be 'The Year Of the C.U.M.' It's time for the world to C.U.M together, literally. - Marc DiNero Shows Us He Has Some "Moves" With Debut Single!
Residing in Louisville, KY, Marc DiNero is putting out tracks honest to who he is as a rap artist. With a genuine approach to his execution and programming, Marc releases music that is hard-hitting, yet delicate at integral moments throughout the tracks. Marc knew music was the passion for him--knowing this for thirteen years, he reluctantly had to put music aside. Fully being able to invest his time and energy into the craft, Marc is hitting the rap scene at full force with his recent debut release of "Moves"! Marc DiNero leaves a lasting impression with his latest track "Moves" featuring Couri Cartier. He's aggressive in complementary ways, rapping with an assertive tone, establishing that power all throughout. "Moves" has a more mellow execution, and is more on the lines of that chill track you want to be listening to when you're winding down. Marc DiNero shows us a wide range of personality throughout "Moves", and transitions into a variety of personas. At some moments, he comes off as forceful, but then blends into a more honest and soft discharge. Embodying the very emotion of heartbreak, "Moves" will pull on your heart strings once realizing the song is about a toxic and painful relationship (we've all been there, a common heartbreak we wish we could forget). We're appreciative of the blend of sound and mood DiNero shows us, with Couri Cartier adding that underlying, but fundamental component to the track. "Moves" is the type of track our BuzzMusic rap listeners will enjoy, and immediately add to what's left of their summer playlist! Listen to "Moves" here, and scroll below for Marc DiNero's exclusive interview! Hey Marc DiNero! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Tell us how you began in the music scene? I originally started making studio music when I was 15 years old. I wrote songs as early as 11 years of age. I always wrote my own lyrics emulating early jay z, Tupac, Biggie, method man, Lox, and DMX just to name a few. I have always had a love for real story telling hip hop. I also understand the business of making good music. I restarted my music career knowing that I was going to go full force into a heavily saturated business but I always knew that I had true talent and a story with a message. Congratulations on your debut single "Moves"! Tell us how excited you are to be creating music again?! I am real excited to be able to release my first single especially when I didn’t see this happening for my life just 6 months ago. Everything leading up to this point has been a fun and exciting ride just to be able to see a finished product released to the public officially. It feels good to know that people enjoy something that you created. It’s a really good feeling when you can go on Apple Music or any streaming site and see your music there as well. This project is a product of believing I was good enough to do it and pursuing that dream regardless of any potential roadblocks. How was the overall curative process of "Moves"? Did you come across creative bumps after not creating music for a long period of time? It’s funny, I feel like I haven’t missed too much on the creative side. Although I was in a three person group when I made music in my early years so I never knew that I could make full songs. My mind was was always set to write one verse and maybe the chorus or hook. So the biggest adjustment to me was actually relying on just me for the full creative process of my music and writing all pieces. Once I knew that I could do it, it allowed me to be fully creative and open up to creating the music that I love to make and hear. What did you do to feed your passion for music all of those years you weren't creating? It was actually tough for me. I relied on some of the greats and legends of the game today to continue to make the music I wanted to hear. Then I had to come to the realization that I can have a voice in hip hop myself, I just have to get it out there. Too many times I would complain about how bad the quality of music was getting instead of taking my talents and pursuing music. It’s kind of like, if some of the best music you ever heard never got released because that particular artist decided not to pursue their dream in music. Imagine all of that good music we would’ve missed out on. What's next for you now that your debut single has been released? Any more releases in the upcoming future? Yes, my debut EP Inception is set to release on October 4th and this will be a great body of work. I have been dreaming of releasing a project for a long time and it feels good that I am actually doing this. I put sweat, time, and a lot of money into my music to bring top quality production and sound for my current and potential fans. I think that a lot of people will be pleased with the album when it’s released. I have my next single that I am shooting the video for in two weeks and is scheduled to be released the first weekend In September.
