Check out “Ghost Of Tom” here and read more with Jessica Sevier in our interview below! Hey Jessica! Can you start by telling our readers about your upbringing and how you got started making music? I grew up listening to a lot of different types of rock music, from artists like Guns n Roses to John Mellencamp. Hearing this music always made me want to sing and perform. I took that love for music and started singing in different talent shows offered at my elementary school. Then started to sing in musical theatre productions put on by our school music teacher. Throughout my young years my love and confidence in my musical abilities grew. By age 11 I had learned the basics of music production and recording with some at home equipment. From there I learned how to write and develop a song with the new technology I was being given. How do you draw inspiration from your wide variety of influences? I am very meticulous in the way I listen to music , I always have been. I like to listen to every subtlety in a song , as well as analyze the lyrics. Drawing inspiration from a song is less about rewriting the intended meaning of the song but more about the vibe or feeling it gives me personally. I like when a lyric makes me think, and when that happens I am able to build on the thoughts the song has given me and create something of my own. We love “Ghost of Tom”! Can you talk about the meaning of the lyrics? Ghost of Tom was written in a time when my life was changing a lot. I had become infatuated with a person who I knew was leaving and the end hit me hard. Ghost of Tom was written about love and anger and being stuck between the two emotions. The lyrics depict the story of how it felt to leave someone who was driving in the opposite direction. And the whole time knowing that the ghost of that person is never actually going to leave your heart. What do you hope your listeners take away from this song? I hope listeners take away the idea that emotions are not always straightforward. When hearing Ghost of Tom , I want listeners to not only hear the angry side of the song, but as well hear the words of love I wrote. I want everyone to know that when love is lost , it’s okay to have mixed feelings and that balance will be restored over time. What’s next for you? Well, Ghost of Tom is a single that was recorded along with 3 other songs. So, after Ghost , there will be an EP to follow. We are taking it one step at a time and are in no rush to put it out. We are going to keep working on building and writing. As well, I am going to keep performing and getting my voice out into the world. We have lots of plans , but plans change and adjust, so as of now we are focusing on the music we have already created #BuzzMusic
- “My Rise” By gLife Shows True Grit And Dedication
gLife, aka GeorgeLife, is a prolific veteran MC based out of Salt Lake City, UT. He has created a truly unique blend of singing and street-wise lyrical rhyming. His sound has been compared to the "grime" and "hardcore" hip hop sounds of La Coka Nostra, Jedi Mind Tricks, and Eminem; along with the singing style of Nelly, Eamon, and Bone Thugs. He has toured with world with artists such as Madchild, Slaine, and Adlib; as well as reaching #4, #5, and #8 on the USA and Canada indie charts. “My Rise” is an experimental track from gLife and we’re here for it. The atmospheric textures and rhythmic layers set gLife apart in the hip-hop music scene in a big way. His flawless bars are lyrically rich and admirably quick. “My Rise” boasts a theme of loyalty and dedication. gLife only wants to be surrounded by people who were there during his worst moments. I can clearly hear the grit and style he pulls from inspirations like Madchild, but he added his authentic flare and individuality. gLife is an indie powerhouse to be reckoned with, I highly recommend you check out the entire album of the same name “My Rise” and keep up with gLife for his future musical endeavors. Listen to “My Rise” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Hey gLife! Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers? How did you get started making music? My name is gLife, I am a hip hop artist from SLC, UT, I have played hundreds of shows all over the continent, but I am just getting started! I started playing guitar at age 12, I played in some rock bands between 12-16 before I got heavily influenced by Tupac and switched to writing rap songs, I put out my first rap song at age 17, finished my first group album at age 20, and just kept going from there. I still play guitar though, and there is a lot of ukulele in my new music as well. What’s the Hip-hop scene like in Salt Lake City? It is better now than when I was first starting, back then no bars and clubs would book you, no businesses were playing rap, no one supported it out here at all except the fringe the were actually a part of it. Nowadays there are definitely over 100 rappers out here, although very few take it seriously, there are a handful of touring artists out here now besides just myself. The bars and clubs are amenable to hip hop, even the LDS church and BYU support their own clean hip hop artist James the Mormon. Post Malone has a house out here. There are multiple scenes now; hip hop (conscious, back pack, etc), gangsta rap, hardcore rap (closest to what I do), even a large Juggalo scene out here. We love the track “My Rise”! What inspired you to write it? Thank you! I was inspired to write it to express to the listeners that there is so much that goes behind the music, and all they get to see is what we give them: nice kicks, jewelry, lots of ladies, alcohol flowing freely, etc... but that's not the whole picture. They don't get to see all the hard times, the money being spent, the arguments, the physical fights... they don't get to see the fall, just the rise, but the fall is there for every artist. What would be your dream collaboration? Luckily for me I fulfilled my dream collaboration on this album when I got to tour and write with my favorite hip hop artist of all time, Slaine (from Special Teamz and La Coka Nostra - also an actor from The Town, Gone Baby Gone, and more - Boston legend), we did a song called "Game Changed" and toured together for a 14 city west coast tour in 2016. Directly after that I got to do a four city tour and collaborate on a song with Madchild from Swollen Members - my second favorite. With Tupac being dead, I think I'm good for now on the collaborations... What’s next for you? We’d love to hear more! Thank you! I have a new album in the works with producer LAM from Self Expression Music which will be out around January 2020, I just finished a 17 day tour of the west coast with Philadelphia artist Adlib, we have planned to do it again in Spring 2020, I also will be doing Indie Week Canada for my 3rd year in Toronto in November. So lots of new music and shows coming up! Connect with gLife on social media www.instagram.com/georgelife www.twitter.com/georgelife
- Nick Saanto Makes You Want To Groove With "Colours"
Nick Saanto is a Canadian artist that is surging his way through the alternative/house pop genre! Right away we noticed the pure love we have for Nick's music, as he curates that whimsical, elated vibe you expect to hear in any House/Pop artist! Already performing in a variety of musical events, Nick Saanto takes his experience as an artist, and uses it to curate music that is modern, and even a bit psychedelic. Nick Saanto is undeniably expanding the category he predominantly fits into, although we still believe that Nick is incredibly unique, not exactly fitting one category, but shadowing various ones. Nick's most recent work, "Colours" has been released, and we're stoked to showcase his most recent musical offerings on our BuzzMusic platform! Immediately we're introduced to that feel-good house vibe we're all familiar with. We're definitely receiving Kygo-like elements in Nick Saanto's "Colours", encapsulating that inspiring and exhilarating tone, creating the exclusive experience one feels when listening to the music of Nick Saanto. "Colours" is simultaneously upbeat and mellow, giving us that pulsating feel of the beat, but relaxing us with the calm and soothing tone of Nick Saanto. "Colours" is the type of House Pop that's going to have you dancing, maybe not full on get out of your seat dancing (for the lazy listeners) but most definitely moving in your seat, along with that addicting rhythm! Nick Saanto is an artist to keep your eye on, as "Colours" is only the beginning to this era of Nick Saantos music! Listen to "Colours" here and read more with Nick in our exclusive interview below! Hey Nick! Welcome to BuzzMusic! We're stoked to be showcasing "Colours" to our BuzzMusic community! Can you tell our readers what your initial vision for the song was? When I started writing “Colours”, I wanted to make a feel-good and inspiring anthem. I wanted it to be a song that makes you want to break out, dance and sing out the top of your lungs. My song is meant to leave you with more self-confidence than you had before. Can you tell us more about the meaning of your track “Colours”? What inspired your writing process? “Colours” is a freedom anthem. It’s a statement to the world that the LGBTQ+ community is here to stay and that we are no different from other humans. We belong and we won’t back down from being ourselves just because it makes some people uncomfortable. “Colours” apply not only to the LGBTQ+ community, but to the younger generations (Millenials, Gender Z, Gen Alpha) who are constantly trying to break the old society rules that were set by tone deaf older generations. I was inspired by the different activists of our times, inspired by my friends, my colleagues. The need to be free and to be accepted for who I am made this song what it is. How does the music you make now compare to music you made when you first started out? The first EP I wrote was a journey into mental health and depression. It dealt with addiction, abuse, and the trials you encounter when you’re lost in all of it. It was a very painful but healing experience. In the two years I’ve spent writing more and performing, I’ve made peace with everything that has happened to me. My new EP that I’m working on challenges the “norm” society set-up when it comes to gender, gender roles, and relationships. It’s bold, confident, and uplifting. Would you say that your music is a big reflection of your personal life and experiences? It absolutely is. Music has been my saving grace. Through my lyrics and my melodies, I want to tell my story and my reality. I know that being a Latinx, Queer, Pansexual, Gender non-conforming person, I can help other people find themselves and feel like their voices are heard because we are very similar. I want to let them know that it’s okay and that they belong. What can we expect to see from you, as an artist, in the upcoming months? More music and more performances. I’m constantly working, shooting new promo pictures, recording. Hoping to release a new EP by the end of the year, maybe even a new clip! Dejwe (pronounced Day-j-way) is a CEO of his own music production company, Artist, Songwriter, and Producer. Born Yvenson Bernard from Haiti he moved to the U.S. when he was 6 years old. Having grown up and now currently residing in Tampa, he learned much about American culture and particularly found an interest with music. The sounds of Hip Hop and RnB were much different than the sounds he was use to growing up in Haiti. Drawing heavy influences from artists like Pastor Troy, Tupac, Trick Daddy, and Nas, Dejwe’s passion for music and experimentation into diverse genres is what has made him stand out as an artist. Dejwe has grown into the songwriter, producer and artist that he is today. Dejwe continues to grow and never settles until a piece has its own personality. He says “My ability to take words and mold them, like silly putty, into catchy melodic hits is what makes me unique”. His songwriting abilities allow his listeners to feel the emotions of the song, whether it’s a banger or telling a story about someone who had their heart broken. Dejwe gives his listeners their release. “She Took It There” is a club banger and sensual new track from Dejwe and we can’t get enough. We get to experience Dejwe’s smooth R&B vocals that quickly explode into a seductive track about all sorts of women. Check out the music video for more visuals and a truly thrilling experience. Dejwe’s bars are precise and flawless as always. His foot is always on the gas with no signs of slowing down. I love the layers of rhythmic textures and the addicting hook. Dejwe creates relatable tracks for all of his fans to enjoy. The highlight of the track “She Took It There” is the trumpet musical break! The music video features all of Dejwe’s women playing the trumpet and vibing along. We love this track, I highly recommend you check it out along with the music video. Dejwe puts himself on the map in a big way and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table next! Listen to “She Took It There” here and read more with Dejwe below! Hi Dejwe, welcome back! What was your upbringing into music like? How did you get started? Thank you, guys, for having me back! I grew up in a Haitian household where my dad would play Haitian music all day long. So, that style of music helped shape who I am now as a musician. The older I got, I started listening to Hip-Hop, Reggae, Pop, Alternative, and even Folk music. I tend to listen to music that would keep my interest…. I get bored quick LOL Who are you music influences? How do they inspire your sound? Artists like Nas, 2pac, Trick Daddy, Lil Wayne, The Lumineers and Panic! At the Disco just to name a few. If they can tell a story that paints a picture for me, then I’m all ears. What sets “She Took It There” apart in the hip-hop music industry? I always try to keep my audience in engaged. I think with the trumpet, the different sounds, melody, and storyline sets it apart from what you would typically hear in Hip-Hop. I am never afraid to try new sounds. We love the track “She Took It There”, can you dive into more details about the lyrics? What was the writing process like? Thank you! I wanted to keep my fans on their toes by switching it up a little. I basically wanted to tell a story about a guy chasing girl. She is interested but, at the same time she is a bit tease. LOL What’s next for Dejwe? Releasing more music, building my fan base and staying consistent with my growth. - Check Out The Party Track “Touch The Sky” By Taylor Mosley And Nico Brey
Coming from a musical family, being a singer/songwriter/producer/DJ was always in Taylor Mosley’s DNA. Creating music for over 20 years, the veteran artist started modestly with a pen and paper. He taught himself the piano and began adding his own melody to the words on his paper. Being a very versatile and creative artist, Mosley is an individual that stands out because of his ability to write in a multitude of genres. After a sabbatical from DJ'ing to focus on producing and writing, Taylor is once again behind the turntables. Mosley is always working, submitting to placement opportunities, collaborating with other artists/producers and working on his own music. Working together with producer, Nico Brey, Taylor Mosley releases the club dance track “Touch the Sky” and we’re loving it. There’s no doubt that this track is being bumped in clubs and poolside all over the country. It’s high energy from start to finish and exudes positivity and good vibes only. “Touch the Sky” is equipped with bouncing melodies, a catchy hook and is a complete summer anthem. Taylor’s vocals are hypnotizing and keep the theme upbeat and addicting. We’re completely entranced by the contemporary sound arrangements that Taylor and Nico have crafted together. I highly recommend that you add this to your playlist, I know I am. Stay on the lookout for more from Taylor Mosley and Nico Brey! Check out “Touch the Sky” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How do you believe growing up in a musical family shaped you as an artist? Well first and foremost, having the natural ability already there; that could be cultivated and relentlessly worked on. I was also exposed to so many different genres of music growing up, which I believe helped me become versatile as a songwriter. Who are your musical influences? How do you draw from them for inspiration? I have so many from childhood to now, I’ll touch on a few, but with a focus on the artists that have influenced me in the EDM genre; since we are discussing “Touch the Sky” *Martin Garrix- when I first got into EDM, he was one of the first I was really drawn to. His style, was something I definitely wanted to write over. *Zedd- again, very melodic which I love and thrive on. Inspires new ways to approach a track, when it comes to melody and even lyrical content. *Usher- I grew up listening to Usher, so he has definitely influenced me. I love the melody and rhythm choices, and I try to implement a little bit of him and RNB in my EDM works. I think it creates a cool vibe, that stands out amongst so much great music out in the world. *Ne-Yo- my songwriting hero, he is so versatile. When I really started to get serious about songwriting, not just being an artist; I found out how many artists Ne-Yo has written for. Not just in RnB, but crossing over genres. So I started working on writing in multiple genres, which in return helped me transition pretty well into EDM. What do you want your listeners to take away from a track like “Touch the Sky”? I want them to smile the whole time it’s playing and even after. It’s a feel good song, so I hope it makes them feel super happy and optimistic. What's the meaning of the lyricism in “Touch the Sky”? This song isn’t one that needs to be dissected, and/or interpreted :). When I first heard the track, it immediately took me to a festival setting. This song is a song you’ll want to play at a party. Simply put, good vibes. Can we expect more collaborations with Nico Brey? Yes, absolutely. We have been working together for the past 9 years on projects and don’t plan on stopping. What’s next for you? MORE music, always. Constantly releasing songs with producers, it works out to where I have a new release on average every other month or so. I worked on a Lionsgate movie, Bernie the Dolphin; where I wrote 4 songs for the film. That is set to come out in December of this year, 2019. And hopefully sooner than later, you will hear a song written by yours truly; released on a global level, as I am constantly demo’ing for some pretty darn big EDM producers with the help from my publisher, BMG. Check out “Day Two” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Welcome to BuzzMusic Church! Can you start by introducing yourselves? How did you two meet and create Church? We are ‘Church,’ a rap duo hailing from Toronto, Canada, working in conjunction with the Nomadic North label. The group is comprised of Nathan Arges (a.k.a Foreign Son) and Blake Murray. The two of us actually met as busboy’s at a restaurant 4 years ago. Whenever on shift, we’d always talk hip-hop and culture, as well as future plans for our artistic endeavours individually. It was only in 2018, 3 years later, when we merged those individual efforts into a collective and started recording music. Last summer, we debuted our first joint project, “The No More Heroes EP.” After many more hours in the studio together, and furthermore developing our partnership as artists and our friendship as brothers, we embarked on a massive rebranding of “Church,’ setting the tone for that shift by releasing our latest single “Day Two.” How did you establish your unique music style? Well, Nate’s a classically trained guitar player, and Blake spent his childhood in the church choir and played the trumpet for several years. We believe musically, our sound comes from having a very eclectic and broad taste in music. We love everything from Marvin Gaye to Jimi Hendrix, from Frank Sinatra to Beethoven, 2Pac, the Wu. We believe our sound comes from a melting pot of many different genres, the most prominent being a blend of what makes hip-hop: funk, soul, and jazz. Can you tell us about the Hip Hop music scene in Toronto? Does the city influence the music you create? Definitely. The good and the bad. Toronto is home for both of us and is such an enormous inspiration. The hip-hop scene here has a very colourful history and we think it’s safe to say, Toronto has a place on the global, hip-hop stage. The prevailing sound in our community is one that we’ve loved and taken in for years. Biggin’ up the 6ix God Drake, but also we have such a prominent, underground scene where you can find quality, real gritty sound. That being said, we always found that the voice that we wanted to hear hadn’t arisen yet; that’s where Churchcomes in. We loved “Day Two”! What’s this track about? How do you want your listeners to feel about it? Glad you liked it! Day Two is such an important song fo us. It’s a symbol for the rebranding of ‘Church’ and is about progress, about change, about coming to grips with your past and forgiving yourself; about letting things go. We want our listeners to come for the energy, the funkadelic, soul sound, and stay for the story, one which is open to interpretation by you. We want to allow space for you to see yourself in our music, always. What’s next for Church? We can't wait to hear what's next from you! Look for our new single ‘Air’ dropping at the end of August. Expect visuals for “Day Two,” as well as a two-pack of solo tracks from the both of us. ‘Church’ is so excited to keep cooking for you; to keep resonating and offering that heart on a sleeve style. In other words, expect us, we’re coming. Connect with Church on social media www.instagram.com/foreignson_ www.instagram.com/blake.murray www.instagram.com/church_tha_group #BuzzMusic

Thank you! the video was shot in my Hometown of Madison Wisconsin What challenges do you come across when making music videos to match your vibe? Some challenges that I face is that not a lot of my music is turn up music, I make feel good music so sometimes painting visuals to match can be hard because they can seem forced if not done naturally. But every scene for “Hero” is natural we just went out to shoot we had our places in mind and it all fell together and worked out. What overall message are you hoping to achieve through both the lyrics and visuals in “Hero”? The overall message is that we just want to help all people and have fun being who we are, but we aren’t trying to be “Hero’s” and also we aren’t “Villains.” Even though we are different we’re two guys trying to defy odds and help others however we can like K. Sankofa said in his lyrics “Not every superman comes with a cape” and like I said “I don’t wear cape but I have hope.” We are two men trying to do great things for our people and community as we explain how we feel along with having fun and I feel the video captures that too. Can we expect any future collaborations with K. Sankofa? I believe there will be more collaborations in the future from K. Sankofa and myself.
