  • We Heard It Here First! No Signal Drops Brand New LP “Seat Of Dreams”

Welcome to the mind of a "digital native". No Signal creator Riley Schmelzer was raised on the Internet with virtually every video, news clip, song and image available to him. This immersive experience gave him a unique perspective that is notably wide and deep. At age 14 Riley expressed his views by writing, singing and playing every instrument on his debut EP "Circle in the Sky".  Choosing to go against the grain of the same old “poppy” noise we hear everyday, he chose to create a series of stories that intonate warnings to the human race that serve both as a foreshadow to where the world is headed if we do not start making changes. “Seat Of Dreams” by No Signal is an intense and hard-hitting rock LP laced with elements of grit and garage-rock that is a refreshing and much needed addition to the music industry. To start the album off to an explosive start No Signal dives into “The Hunger”, an animalistic and predatory track about the “The Hunger” and desire for attention. We can’t enough of the pummeling guitars and HEAVY bass. As the track continues, were blessed with mind bending and soul crushing guitar solo to take us into the conclusion of a spectacular song and a perfect intro into a heavy rock LP. Things become more melancholic and light as “The Trap” begins, with softer guitar and a catchy riff, “The Trap” truly showcase Riley’s skill as a vocalist and lyricist. It’s no surprise that the experimental rock pro explodes into his well known heavy sound. Riley’s vocal register and emotion are raw and on display throughout the entirety of “The Trap”. “The Arrival” takes a haunting turn, the intro is laced with anticipation for what’s to come, the new-age rock legend has his foot on the gas and is showing no signs of slowing down. Not only does Riley’s project No Signal boast incredible vocals, but “The Arrival” is further proof of his skill as a musician. Ending the track with another, more intricate guitar solo, the instrumentals throughout this album so far have set the bar high for other rock artists to compete with. “The Let Down” is my personal favorite track on “Seat Of Dreams”, No Signal is truly emotional and raw through his lyricism and vocal resonance. Wise beyond his years, Riley Schmelzer is 16 and exudes the life experience and passion that someone with 30+ years experience can’t convey. Authentic to the core, “The Let Down” really sets No Signal apart in a big way. The track should galvanize and inspire the current rock music scene. “The Storm” is exactly what we wanted it to be, a rhythmic melting pot of acoustic guitars, meaningful vocals and powerhouse production. Riley Schmelzer shift his vocal register down an octave to truly prove his all around skills as an artist. “Interlude” is exactly that, an anticipation and echoing wind while we wait for the next explosive track. “The Awakening” shines through our speakers and I’m once again blown away by Riley Schmelzer’s voice. No Signal has once again poured his heart and soul into every element of this track. One of the shorter tracks on the album, “The Awakening” is a fully packed 4 minute’s of insane vocalism, hard-hitting instrumentals and an overall mind-blowing track. The namesake track on the album “Seat Of Dreams” brings Riley Schmelzer’s ultimate vision to life. No Signal give us a raw retrospective piece about his outlook on where the world is going today. At almost 14 minutes, “Seat Of Dreams” takes a more serious turn with elements of raw lyricism and vulnerability. The guitar chords are spectacular throughout, the drumming is precise with hard hitting high hats and real rock of the highest magnitude. “Distorted reality, is all that I can see”, this lyric further proves RIley’s creativity and maturity through his views on the world we live in. Bonus tracks on the album “Seat Of Dreams” include an acoustic rendition of the single “The Trap” which adds more emotion and less grit to the song so we can really hone in on the lyrics. “Todd” is another bonus track featured on “Seat Of Dreams” and it’s experimental, somewhat electronic intro is incredibly intriguing. As the track transitions into a full-fledged ballad, Riley once again lays his emotions out on the table for us to absorb and relate to. “Todd” transforms into a well rounded and whole hearted rock track with Riley’s impressive production skills. The blood, sweat and tears that metaphorically (or literally) went into the making of this album are evident through the flawless delivery of every single track. High energy and consistent from beginning to end, “Seat Of Dreams” is a straight ear-gasm of musical brilliance. This album was over a year in the making and will surely turn heads in the months to come. Stay on the lookout for Riley Schmelzer’s project No Signal and his future musical endeavors! Check out “Seat Of Dreams” here and read more below in our exclusive interview with Riley Schmelzer! Welcome and congratulations on the release of “Seat Of Dreams”!! What would you say is the overall theme of this LP? In summary it’s a story of my life capturing experiences from age 13 to 16, the most self altering years of my life so far. A journey of self discovery. What are your personal favorite tracks on the album? Why? I favor The Awakening, mainly because its climaxical components, I’ve always focused on that a lot in any song. In the track “The Let Down”, the lyricism feels really personal, can you shed more light on the meaning behind the lyrics? The lyrics are mainly highlighting the betrayal of trust and hierarchy. Let's talk about the writing process for the LP “Seat Of Dreams”! It must feel amazing to have it released. Can you talk about some challenges you faced while creating it? The part that I was most conscious of was the fact that I would be in charge of everything, other than my father producing and having mixers, I did write and record every instrument on the album, but I had intentionally placed that problem in my mental fortitude before I began recording the album, so it was psychological, and I had worked it out before I started recording so I could maintain a steady and persistent ethic. What’s next for No Signal? I have a single coming up in support of another upcoming EP coming soon. Connect with No Signal on social media www.instagram.com/4no3signal2

  • Alec Beretz Released A Killer Hit, “Peep This”

There are artists in this industry who make waves and artists who ride them, all while Alec Beretz is busy moving oceans. Hailing from San Diego, Alec’s massive creative ambition is supported by an equally immense sound - a Rorschach blend of styles encompassing the off-the-wall hype of a rapper like Lil’ Uzi Vert, the sleek expressiveness of a singer like Daniel Caesar, and the sharp-toothed attitude of your favorite punk band. Distilling all of this into an undeniable debut effort, Alec is extending a simple invitation to the world: Peep This. One of the major standout songs to this project was, in fact, the record “Peep This”. Although there’s a variety of multiple hits on this album including “Rose Tint”, “The Bells”, “Polaroid” and more, “Peep This” abducts its listener into this atmospheric experience you won’t be able to feel listening to any other artist. • Boundless Brothers Creates Moments Through Melodies On Their EP, “Cause And Effect”

Boundless Brothers are Renowned for their piercing lyrics, timeless melodies, and hypnotic harmonies. There’s nothing but magic in the air when Sam, Seb, and Bo play live. Ever since being showcased by the likes of The Guardian and BBC Introducing, they have taken the music industry by storm – wooing crowds across the South West with their uplifting blend of Pop and Folk-Rock. We took a listen to the melodic and bewitching release of their single titled “Cause And Effect” off their project called “Cause And Effect EP” and we were more than just impressed! We became fans of this band. My favorite element about this song would hands down be the enticing lyricism. “Your fire is fading, and if you fall I’ll be here waiting.” This specific line and the cohesive melody and lush harmonies had me addicted to the track. The music moved me. Boundless Brothers had us elevated and gave us a constant leveled motion to where you can peacefully enjoy the song to its fullest extent. After listening to their single “Give A Little Love” off their EP we quickly learned how mystically intriguing this band is. They have this special effect on them that will leave you in an everlasting trance of romance and charisma. “Give A Little Love” was simply a nice addition to the sensational experience you’ve endured through “Give A Little Love”. Listen to "Cause And Effect” here and get to know more about Boundless Brothers below! What’s up Boundless Brothers! Mind telling our readers about the formation of the band? What made you guys want to pursue music? Hey Buzz Music! When I (Sam) first moved down to Penzance from Cheltenham with my brother Seb, the first thing we remember seeing when walking through the streets was a group of people busking. This really caught our attention and gave us the motivation to do something like this ourselves. A month or so later, after learning a couple of chords on the guitar and a few notes on the bass, we went out to do our first show, which fuelled our passion to carry on performing. We met drummer Bo Payne at college, who would later become the final member. Bo Started playing music at a young age. Watching his dad perform, he was inspired to start playing the drums along with him, which he did on whatever he could find (namely pots and pans and bin lids). He later got himself a Drum kit and played with a number of bands, before settling with 'Boundless Brothers' in 2015. What has been the most monumental moment in your career so far? It has to be either playing for the Exeter Christmas lights a few years back, to the biggest crown we have ever seen (which really got the nerves going!) or when we were casually driving to a gig and heard our song being played on the radio for the first time. It was a real double take moment, where we couldn't quite believe that it was us being played aha. Let’s talk about your EP, “Cause And Effect”. What was the main theme behind this project? Where did you draw most of your inspiration from? The main theme of the EP is the ups and down of love and how it can sometimes make you feel both great and terrible in equal measure. We like to listen to a lot of older music and get inspired by the likes of; Simon and Garfunkel, The Beatles and The eagles for their harmonies, which is the main focus of any of our songs, and bands like the Police, Queen, Steely Dan and John Mayer for their musical arrangements. What would you consider the most impactful single off “Cause And Effect” and why? 'Give a little love', our most contemporary song of the EP, this has a positive message mixed with dark overtones. Alternatively, 'Even for a moment' is our first slow ballad, which really showcases our vocal harmonies and has even shed a tear or two when played live. What’s next for Boundless Brothers? Now that our EP is out, we are hoping to play all over the UK and Europe at the end of the year and the start of next year. This will be to promote our new music and get more experience performing in new places. We have also started work on our next album, which we hope to release in the near future. • Princesa Kiarichikito Is Over The “HeartBreak”

Princesa Kiarichikito is a talented rapper/singer and lyricist from Memphis, TN. Involved heavily in the arts, Princesa Kiarichikito also write poetry, is a designer, and is a brand ambassador bfor multiple apparel brands. The 26 year old has had a passion for music for a few years now, she has yet to perform live but when she does you better be on the lookout for this young up and comer. Princesa Kiarichikito’s track “HeartBreak” was written when she was going through a particularly hard time with someone. Right off the bat you can hear the emotion and raw energy in her vocals. I love the R&B.hip-hop back beat, it’s refreshing and alluring but Princesa Kiarichikito’s vocals steal the show. She uses her music and poetry as an outlet for her true emotions. It’s incredibly admirable for an artist to be vulnerable and allow their fans to relate and connect with them. We can’t get enough of Princesa Kiarichikito’s versatility and creativity. I highly recommend you check out this track and stay on the lookout for what’s next for Princesa Kiarichikito. Listen to “HeartBreak” here and read more below in our interview with Princesa Kiarichikito! How did you get started making music? What made you decide to take it more seriously? Before I even had proper studio time, I went online, downloaded and brought some beats and started writing to them. I would rehearse in my bathroom once the song was completed but still didn’t manage studio time until last June. I don’t think I’m taking it anymore serious than my other passions, but whenever I feel like one beat fits a song perfectly than I write to it and head to the studio when i have time. What emotions did you have to channel when writing “HeartBreak”? The emotions I channeled were fed up, overly emotional, and anger. I wanted to express how i felt more sensual but all the same time I was mad and feeling useless to guys in general. It seems like this song is very personal to you! Can you talk more about the meaning of the lyrics? Its semi-personal. When i was writing this song, I channeled all the things guys would say to me or do for me and I realize that it would annoy me or cause me frustration and I felt like I was running in circles. This song helped me speak out on how I felt towards them when they behaved certain ways. Who are your musical influences? How do you draw inspiration from them? I have tons of artist that i adore and obsess over but for influences I would say, I don’t have any. I believe being yourself and creating works that not only inspire but makes people feel it is important. I think being artist is expressing yourself and who you are so channeling other artist in my music wasn’t the plan but I still enjoy great artists and their works. What’s next for you and your music career? For me hopefully pursuing my goals and dreams for my career, I’m not too sure but high hopes always. • Can You Handle James Lucid’s Honesty In “Heartbeat”?

BuzzMusic presents the talented and authentic hip-hop artist James Lucid. The talented rapper and lyricist knows who he is and is not shy about it. Growing up in Elmont, New York and being raised to fight for those who can’t, gave him hate in his heart and a chip on his shoulder and it shows in his music. The diversity of his influences reflect brightly, his voice commands attention and his flow is undeniable. Expect nothing less than dissidence, civil disobedience, violence and flow. Keep your third eye open and see what he sees. "HEARTBEAT" is James Lucid’s latest release and we can’t get enough. Produced by Josh Preme, “Heartbeat” is a retrospective track that takes listeners on a personal journey through James’ mind. Full of clarity and truth, his lyrics are a refreshing addition to the music industry today. James Lucid is unapologetic and authentically honest. The rawness that’s in every punchline is unpredictable yet consistent. James gives a confident and edgy appeal to his artistry while staying true to the hip-hop roots that founded the culture of rap. His lyricism and flow are addicting and smooth, while the lofi backbeats are vibrant and classic. James Lucid is killing it and we’re here for it. He writes relatable rhymes while remaining true to himself and his message. I highly recommend you check out “Heartbeat” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Hey James! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell a bit about your upbringing and how you got started in music? Hey, Thank you for having me. I grew up in Elmont, New York. The first town on Long Island outside of queens. It’s an extremely diverse town, all walks of life, which definitely influenced me a lot in music and life. I had got put on to Hip-Hop early by my mom believe it or not. I have a lot of memories riding around listening to Ready To Die by Biggie on repeat. I had also been put on early to metal by my dad. I listened to Slipknot’s debut album probably everyday for a while haha. These influences really inspired me to make music, my cousin Craig actually has the first (very bad) recordings of mine somewhere that we recorded on a Rockband Mic in his house. Eventually me and my brother B-Light teamed up started recording in my basement and the rest is history. How do your life experiences shape who you are as an artist? Growing up where I grew up, we had some tough times. We were moving from apartment to apartment trying to make ends meet like a lot of people in my town. That struggle lit a fire in me. Watching my mom work like a dog and eventually get sick made me hungry, but also jaded, angry, skeptical and aggressive. These are the feelings I try to convey in my music. A lot of my material is hard to swallow and thats because of how it was coming up, that was our reality. Can you dive into the lyrics in “Heartbeat”? What do you hope your listeners take away from it? Heartbeat is as much of a conscious song as it is a typical rap song. Bars like the opening “The way I spit this sh*t is like I’m Lou Pinella spazzing, I’m breathing fire and you only Imagine Dragons” are basically me saying, I’m coming through with nothing but heat, unadulterated fire and content. There are also bars like “the government and the media made Islam pariah, the Vatican hides Assassins, made you bow to messiahs” and “rage and disappointment of the ones Been appointed” which are representative of my jaded feelings towards government and religion and that I feel they are destructive. My content is truly a tour of the inside of my mind and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Who are your top musical influences? How do they inspire you? My top influences would probably be Sean Price, Meyhem Lauren, Tech N9NE, Slayer, and more recently artists like Crimeapple, Left Behind and My brother Josh Preme who produced Heartbeat, he’s a young legend in the making. How would you describe your live performance? My love performance is personal, genuine and rapid fire. I don’t do the whole 25 dudes in Paper Plane hats on stage with me. It’s me, and usually B-Light to bless the crowd with his verses. I perform my stuff without the vocal track behind me unlike a lot of rappers. I care about the culture and the craft so much and I try to convey that. Keep the crowd engaged and try my best to be a true MC. I watched Tech N9NE so many times put on in my opinion the best live show in Hip-Hop and an important video with KRS-ONE when I was younger talking about how he performs and how to conduct yourself to a crowd and I try to emulate those things. Do you have any upcoming shows or events you’d like to talk about? I have a LOT of music coming out. I have a project called Nihl River that we are going to be releasing piece by piece. New fire every month. We are also going to be playing a lot of shows and open mics in the NYC-LI area to get the word out. Stay tuned and follow me @JamesIsLucid on all social media platforms to see more! Thank you. Connect with James Lucid on social media www.instagram.com/jamesislucid www.twitter.com/jamesislucid

We love Jai Fears unique and authentic sound and we can’t wait to see what she delivers next! Jai is currently recording and writing music for her anticipated EP of the same name,‘’Gemini’’. Check out “Gemini” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hi Jai! Can you start by telling our readers more about yourself and your upbringing into music? I was born and raised in Detroit, MI. I sang in the church choir growing up. I’ve always wanted to sing but didn’t know I could actually be a singer.I honestly thought only certain people could be singers. I have plenty of home videos from when I was growing up dancing and singing in the basement, but didn’t know I could actually pursue a career.  I moved to LA in the 9th grade and started out in the music industry as a dancer and actor. My first professional gig as a dancer was dancing background for singer Aaron Carter and My first professional acting gig was 2 lines in the movie The Wood by Paramount pictures. We love the track “Gemini”! Can you talk more about the meaning of the lyrics in this song? What’s your favorite part? Gemini lyrics are about me who raised me where I grew up and me loving and accepting my 2 personalities that make me who I am. It’s also a anthem for all Gemini’s to be proud and love ourselves because our sign really doesn’t have the best reputation to be honest. I hardly ever get a good reaction when I tell someone I’m a Gemini, so I made this song to have something specifically for us. Who are you musical influences? Why? I have a few but my main influences are Janet Jackson Bruno Mars and Slum Village. I’m very sexual and sensual with my music, but I’m also upbeat playful and fun. Like I have songs that sound like Anytime Anyplace and Perm (by Bruno) on the same project. What’s your writing process like? I have 2 ways (No Gemini punt intended lol) if the track is already made I either listen to it in the car and start humming what the song is saying to me or sit at home with a glass of Champagne and listen until I hear what the song is saying to me. Then start writing things down. It doesn’t always have to be in order either. I can start with hook, bridge anything. Whatever I hear first. When you’re not making music, what do you do? It’s either 3 things with me, dancing background for the legendary Charlie Wilson (I’ve been his dancer for 14 years now) serving sushi at a restaurant here in Michigan, or chilling at home on one of my very few far and in between off days. Since their formation they have released 5 singles, 2 EPs, and 1 full length records and performed over 450 shows across the East Coast, South, and Midwest and have played at many events across the country. Their music has been featured on radio across the United States as well as parts of Europe and has been licensed to the Discovery Networks, Homemade Soul Music, Audiosparx, Roadtrip Nation, and Bring Your Own Board music libraries. This year, The FoxFires released a trilogy of songs, each one being released on a significant date. The first song, titled “Slowdive”, was released corresponding with Valentine's Day. The second, titled “Matchless Part Two”  was released March 21st for the Spring Equinox. The third and final of the trilogy, “Brooklandia” was released on May the 4th coinciding with International Star Wars Day. “Brooklandia” is a psychedelic track that we can’t get enough of. The rhythmic attitude and chill rock vibe takes the listener on a journey through the hypnotizing and mellow rock sound arrangements. “Brooklandia” has slight undertones of alternative blues and soulful roots. I think “Brooklandia” can be interpreted differently depending on the listeners situation. The pummeling guitar, echoing vocals, surf-rock vibes and overall chemistry on “Brooklandia” are a brilliant indication of what’s to come next for The FoxFires. I highly recommend you check out this track and the entire trilogy Stay on the lookout for The FoxFires. Check out “Brooklandia” here and keep scrolling for our interview with The FoxFires! Hey guys welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourselves? What role does each of you play within The FoxFires? Hi, I’m Christian Diana. I’m the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for The Foxfires. Hey! I’m Adam and I play bass for and manage The Foxfires Hello! I’m Christian Cordero and I play lead guitar and keys for The Foxfires Hey guys! I’m Brandon and I have played drums, percussion, and backing vocals for The Foxfires since 2015. I’ll be leaving soon, however on good terms and with the best wishes towards the band and will play a crucial role in helping find their next drummer. How and when did The FoxFires come to fruition? How did you choose the band name? We all met at open mics and shows. CC (Christian Cordero) and Adam used to be in a band called The Nightingale Effect in 2011-2013. CD (Christian Diana) was a solo artist after his long stint in the pop punk band Passing Planets. CC and Adam met with CD at an open mic in Ridgewood, NJ and decided to jam one day. We met Brandon after our first drummer left at a house show, when we had just signed to our former label. He really loved our sound and we instantly clicked. He was an obvious choice for us as a band and as people. It’s hard to remember a time when anyone else drummed for us, because I think we really became The Foxfires when he joined the band. Foxfire is folklore terminology for bioluminescence. It’s things like glowing mushrooms and fireflies. It’s very symbolic of being the natural glow in the world. We aspire to be that. Can you dive into more details on the lyrics of “Brooklandia”? What inspired this song? Brooklandia was inspired by a very difficult but necessary breakup between CD and his ex-girlfriend. Sometimes, love isn’t enough to be in a relationship and it feels wrong to end a relationship at times. You’re not quite sure what to feel about what’s best for both of you and it can be a truly hollow and uncomfortably uncertain feeling. What’s the overall theme of your trilogy? What do you hope your fans take away from it? The trilogy are all songs that were written in, conceived in, inspired in, and recorded in Brooklyn. We got to record it with astute producer Jesse Cannon in Williamsburg this past Fall and it was a surreal experience to be recording what was inspired, quite literally, right down the street. Jesse has a laundry list of great work under his belt and he was an obvious choice of producer for us. Brooklyn, sonically was a large influence on our music and these three songs are essentially a tribute to what really opened many musical doors for us. We hope our fans enjoy it and make it a part of the soundtrack to their lives. Do you have any hints of tour dates or upcoming show you can talk about? We have quite a few! So, we may be taking part in a certain famous pop-up show organization in the Fall, but you’ll just have to wait and see. (Wink wink, nudge nudge) Aside from that, we’ll be performing at the Hudson Valley Music Conference Showcase in Kingston, NY, the Rock Out the Dope Opioid Prevention and Awareness Festival, Alchemy Gathering Full Moon Campout, and American Dissonance Festival in Trenton, NJ. We are currently doing a promotion where if you follow our official Spotify account, screenshot it, post it on Instagram and tag us, you can get an exclusive The Foxfires track that we haven’t distributed and it’s arguably just as incredible as our three new singles. We have much more TBA, so please stay tuned. You won’t want to miss it. Connect with The FoxFires on social media www.instagram.com/TheFoxfires www.twitter.com/TheFoxfires

Humboldt County Native, Nick Dellas developed his musical background early on his childhood. After finishing high school in 2009, Dellas moved to Santa Rosa, CA for a couple years & started the early days of recording music in his cousin's bedroom. In 2012, Dellas moved to Los Angeles & started taking his music career seriously. He released his first album in 2016 titled "Gangs + Tranquility" & his second album "Never Conform" in November of 2018. Releasing his third project in July of 2019, "What Goes Around Comes Around", Nick Dellas displays his variety of flows and strong ability for storytelling. “Airplane Mode” is a hypnotizing new track from Nick Dellas. His authentic sound is a refreshing a new addition to the hip-hop scene. “Airplane Mode” is a track all about escaping from the rest of the world when you’re with the one your girl Nick Dellas weaves through storytelling aspects as his expert bars flow perfectly with the smooth back beat. With soft and alluring textures, it’s easy to get lost in the music. “Airplane Mode” is a dope new track from Nick Dellas and features the talented Slayo. We love this collaboration and we can’t wait to see what Nick Dellas delivers next! Check out “Airplane Mode” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Nick! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by telling us more about how you got started making music? First things first, Shoutout to BuzzMusic! Now we can begin. Music has always played a central role all throughout my life. Back in high school, I remember free-styling at lunch & at parties. 99% of the time people would tell me you should start recording music so I took their advice & the rest is history. What can fans expect from your new album “What Goes Around Comes Around”? With "What Goes Around Comes Around", even though there's only 5 songs, not 1 song sounds the same. They all have different vibes. I'd say fans can expect to hear three things from WGACA : Crazy storytelling, Fire production (Shout to Slayo), & overall my ability to adapt on various beats with ease. What’s the meaning behind your track “Airplane Mode? "Airplane Mode" is probably my favorite record on the EP. I'd say the meaning behind it would be to not let anything or anyone distract you in life from getting your money & progressing! & never forget to live in the moment. What emotions do you have to channel when creating your music? That's a hard one. Usually I refer to experiences I've already been through or am currently going through & use them as inspiration for writing. The best advice I could give any artist is to avoid stagnation. Try new things & go new places. You'll come back home feeling way more inspired than if you would've stayed in your same routine. What’s next for you and your career? I'm planning on shooting a couple videos for songs on WGACA. Definitely drop another project before the end of this year. Also I gotta find a manager to hop in the mix with me. Best case scenario, I'll be performing at SXSW in 2020! Connect with Nick Dellas on social media www.instagram.com/nickdellas www.twitter.com/DellasTalk

Check out “Passion” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Hey P-Butta! Can you start by telling our readers more about yourself and how you got started in music? I was born Lionell Mahan but my pseudonym is P-Butta. I’m from Illinois but currently reside in Florida. I feel in love with music around age 8. My mom would always listen to the newest music and my dad would also listen to classics and old school music. I eventually turned into a fan after listening so much. That later motivated me to create my own music. Once I started practicing more and honing in on my craft, I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. Who are you musical influences and how do they inspire you? I’m easily influenced by many genres of music but I am mainly a fan of hip hop. Some of my influences include Jay Z, Kanye West, DMX, Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco, J.Cole, Big Krit, Nipsey Hussle, Eminem and many others. What’s your track “Passion” about? What was your writing process like for this song? This song is an original produced by Lexi banks and written by P-Butta. The song is called “Passion” because it embodies ones perception on what passion is. I give off my perception in a fly smooth way expressing that its not about the status quo but more so about what you have a passion for. The song is slow, smooth, with a taste of instrumentation, and has an overall laid back vibe. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? That's a great question. Well, when I first heard the instrumental it instantly spoke to me and I listened. I would listen to it non stop before I could even start writing to it. It spoke to me in a sense where I knew I had to approach it like no other song I had ever done before. I wanted it to have a special vibe. One thing for sure, I knew it would bring something out of me I was not used to doing on a record. Since I have always had a strong passion for making music it all made since to me to title the record "Passion". However, it took me a while to write it because I wanted it to be a great display of my writing capabilities and execution on a record. It was a small challenge but it was something that I was willing to face and one day it finally hit me. I began to write the song with passion and before I knew it, "Passion" was created. When listening to my music my goal is to give people a release. I want it to be a breath of fresh air to whomever is listening to it. I feel one of the greatest gifts in life is being able to connect to people through music. I understand that I am fortunate to have the capabilities to do so. I really hope my listeners get a well rounded idea of who P-Butta is even if we don't have a direct or personal connection. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to connect with the people through song. What’s next for you, P-Butta? Well, I have a lot of things in the works currently and in the near future. For starters, I just released a music video for  "Passion" from my "Lost Time" album which is out now on YouTube. “All The Faces” video coming soon also from my “Lost Time” album. I also have many performances coming up in the Orlando area and other surrounding cities. I have some national performances on the calendar as well. Stay tuned for those dates! On August 31 you will definitely catch me hitting the stage at the Supr Music Festival in Orlando. Connect with P-Butta on social media www.instagram.com/Butta2daP www.twitter.com/Butta2daP

  • We Love The Heart Wrenching Piano Ballad “A Heart So Heavy” By The Sun Harmonic

Residing in St. Thomas, Canada, eclectic singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kaleb Hikele uses music as an outlet via his project The Sun Harmonic. Classical-trained pianist first, folk/rock songsmith second, The Sun Harmonic started performing in 2009 as a solo artist, now accompanied by his rock band and even string orchestras. With two new singles,” In The Forest” and “A Heart So Heavy”, released in Spring 2019, Kaleb began his ventures on tour through Ontario in June. Catch The Sun Harmonic live on stage in an intimate solo performance on guitar & piano, or live with his folk/rock trio. With his life-spanning catalog of original songs at hand, he sings just like he wears his heart on his sleeve. “A Heart So Heavy” begins with a haunting piano solo that slowly transitions into a finely-calibrated ballad. The vocals come in and completely blow me away, their sultry and melancholic, yet full of emotion and truth. “A Heart So HEavy” is raw and emotive, it teeters on the line of of sadness, but remains reminicent and fairly light hearted. Kaleb’s vocal register and harmonically-rich production is musical brilliance. He pours his heart and soul into this track and we can’t get enough. The power and meaning from beginning to end is both inspiring and galvanizing in today’s music industry. The Sun Harmonic has done a fantastic job conveying his emotion through poetry, matching thast poetry ieth hard-hitting instrumentals and exuding a spectacular vibrance. We can’t wait to see what he delivers next! Check out “A Heart So Heavy” here an read more below in our exclusive interview. Hey Kaleb! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell us more about your upbringing and how you got started in music?’ Hey Buzz! Thanks for having me. Well, I was raised on musical theatre soundtracks on cassette tape, Hanson and Backstreet Boys CD's (typical 5 year old boy in the 90's) and I loved all sorts of music played in the house from my parents (John Denver, Tragically Hip, and more musical theatre). I also lived in a world of classical music, I was put into music lessons when I was 5 years old taking vocal and piano classes on a weekly basis, which gave me a pretty solid work ethic as a little kid. I went through the whole Royal Conservatory program doing exams each year and also sang in a show choir, learning even more musical theatre pieces and choral works from about 5 to 13 years old. It was a very magical and entertaining way to grow up, never short of excitement and fantasy when you're dressing up as a Chef and singing songs from the Little Mermaid at a recital. Ha! Closer to high school, when I was 13 I believe, a neighbourhood friend of mine told me on theschoolyard that I should play the guitar, he said it was cool (Until that point I had played classical piano and was very not cool, according to the other sporty 9 year old kids). So I traded some bullying for an electric guitar and started to learn Nirvana riffs, Blink 182 covers, and started a band with that same guy (he was a drummer). We put together a set of punk rock cover songs and were playing sets at the local skate park and our school gym in our Grade 8 year. I took to songwriting quickly, even before I could play more than 3 chords on the guitar, and so by age 14 we had new members and formed the first band for our original songs (more in the "screamo" scene than before) and we were playing shows and recording an EP in the first months of Grade 9. We were called Far From Freedom and made a lot of noise in two years, we released 2 EP's and played everywhere we could in our small town (St. Thomas Ontario). We opened for some London rock bands (the biggest city close to us) and played in the streets at local festivals (our loud screaming rock set did not fit in at all, let alone our mosh pitting 14 year old friends, it was hilarious!) When that band got to the end of it's run I started a more folk/rock based trio with the same drummer, a new harmonica-slinging guitarist and myself on the piano, we called ourselves The Capitol after the old time movie theatre downtown. We also released an album (recorded independently and burned onto CD's to sell out of my locker) and played local shows from 2006-2008. When I graduated high school in 2008 the time was right for me to leave all of it behind and go to music college in Toronto, and I started performing solo shows frantically and came up with a new name in 2009 - The Sun Harmonic. And "the rest if history" but is also still happening and evolving from that moment on... How old were you when you first began performing publicly? 5 years old (woops, spoiled that answer already..) I don't even have strong memories of it, I was so young. I sang with my show choir, Colla Voce, in St. Thomas, performing in churches and halls mostly between 1995 and 2003 I believe... but as a songwriter, behind a guitar and eventually piano, I started performing (literally "gigging" in bars, and dive bars too) at the age of 13. I remember going to play in a dark dingy bar in London when I was 14 and the area was so shady my parents were offered drugs in the bathroom (not to mention, how did they let a 14 year old into a bar in the first place) so it was a funny start. It foreshadowed all my years of playing dive bars, so it's never been a surprise to me with the climate out there when you're gigging as a solo musician or a rock band. I lived in a small town so there weren't many proper music venues or even stages for us to play in, especially as teenagers. So we played to our friends wherever we could, a lot of shows in our school (we'd setup in the courtyard or in the cafeteria) and some shows at youth centers and street festivals in the summer. We had a built-in crowd being in high school, we'd always have a bit of a mosh pit going and be able to sell or give away CD's like crazy in the hallways at our school. It was a dream really, a small town is a great place for a musician to grow up in. You move to a big city and become the smallest fish, but that also brings a lot of lessons and experience. Thick skin as they say! Who are your musical influences? How have they inspired your sound? Beethoven, Billie Holiday and Beatles (or Beach Boys) is my typical answer to that question, covers some good bases. I have hundreds of vinyl records and hundreds of CD's flooding my apartment, music from A-Z in terms of genre and generations. I love classical music, mostly the Romantic era (Debussy and Chopin) and early Jazz (vocal like Billie or Ella, but also piano greats like Keith Jarret and Vince Guaraldi). I started listening to modern rock, screamo and punk, when I was around 11 or 12, so all of that music lights me on fire and I can still sing along to every word (early Green Day, NOFX, Thrice, Belvedere, Alexisonfire, Linkin Park, Sublime, Distillers, Pennywise, all the stuff you'd listen to with punks at a campfire party in the woods you know?) At 19 I dove into the vinyl my Uncle had given me (7" Steppenwolf and Supertramp records) and through a friend with a great vinyl collection I was introduced to the world of classic rock, Floyd and Beatles classics and lesser known gems. I'd spend nights with musician friends listening to Paul Simon solo albums, Television's Marquee Moon and anything in between that was all a new world to me. Finding this holy grail of music shaped how I grew and expanded my songwriting once I built a studio at home (a retro soul & blues album I did for fun in 2012, TheBroadview Band, other projects that were a tangent from my typical music). Along the way certain albums really suck in as far as inspiring me to learn and test myself as a guitar player (Simon's acoustic guitar work) and a songwriter (live Dylan solo in the mid 60's) and a vocalist (Jeff Buckley's "Grace" I could listen to every day forever). Currently I am listening to and supporting artists I see myself in, that is who I want to be as a songwriter and live vicariously through their own pursuits, along the lines of Tim Baker, Glen Hansard, Bruno Major, Yola, strong singer-songwriters with a knack for melody. But like I said, it's all cyclical and I'll listen to Beethovens 5th piano concerto right before cranking some Gob or Goldfinger tunes and singing along. It's all the same to me, music despite genre. Can you dive into details about the lyrics in “A Heart So Heavy”? What do you hope your listeners take away from this song? It's a love song written from me to my girlfriend. It's not meant to be sung in person, it's a message that can't reach someone in that very moment so it goes out into the universe and floats in space and is just is what it is. A song about longing and wanting to help someone who is away from you. Wanting to speak to someone who you can't talk to at that very moment, so you sing to them instead. That's the idea behind the song, written in that very literal context of being alone in a room and wanting to sing to my girlfriend who was up north in the city at her own place, this was before we were living together. We had worked that night together at Massey Hall in Toronto, where we met as ushers, and after going home I walked into a quiet living room and sat at the piano and wrote the entire song in one sitting. It took a few hours, I wanted to say the right thing and put as much meaning and heart into it as possible. I really believed in this song when I wrote it, and I don't usually do this, but, then I went into a studio and recorded it only one week later. It's taken me years to get around to recording a song before, but this one felt finished. It was clear, simple.  To take away from a song you always have to put it into your own perspective, or put yourself in the shoes of the subject. If you have a great big love in your life like I'm lucky enough to have, you can certainly think of and sing this song in times of being apart, times when you miss that person. But this song can also be heard as a message sung by me directly to you, the listener. It's a remedy if you're feeling low, sad and hopeless, your heart is literally heavy and you're listening to music to medicate (most of us do I believe). The lyrics in the song can certainly be taken as a message to you, I'm sending love to help you through the day and things will be OK. It's caring and helpful, because everyone needs care and help and love to get by. Whats next for The Sun Harmonic? A full length album. Coming soon! Hopefully late 2019. I've always got a fairly heavy To Do List of things that will take months or years to do (Winter, a double LP, took 8 years, so I'm scaling back my so I've crossed off a few things this year: releasing A Heart So Heavy and In The Forest, two songs I had on my studio hard drive for over a year or so that are finally streaming and on vinyl. And then I took those on tour with me around Ontario in June to celebrate 10 years since I released my debut Sun Harmonic album in 2009. That was on the bucket list and a good way for me to stretch my touring legs again after a few years away from it. In the Fall I'll be playing some more shows solo and with my band, all in Ontario before I set my eyes on the West and East coast of Canada again in 2020 (hopefully sporting my new LP then too). I have too many songs I've written but not yet recorded, for various reasons, so there's a lot of ideas and albums that can come to life, but I'm taking it one step at a time and focusing on making these albums with some other idea or concept to them. My next album started as a big idea that somehow came together over a few years, starting in Vancouver in 2015 when I recorded a few songs on the island and I thought about recording songs in Canadian studios all the way out east to Halifax. I was sidelined for a couple years by an injury and heavy junk in life, but I never lost the vision and the will to make it happen. So last summer I traveled by train to record in Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax before coming back home to finish the album in my basement recording studio in Toronto's east end. I'm working on it now and will be bringing a whole other year of weird and beautiful experiences into the mix, while inviting some talented friends to make my music come to life. It will be a folk, acoustic based, upbeat and uncharacteristic album compared to my music over the past few years (sad piano songs!) I really can't wait to finish it and release it soon...
