Check out “Gaslight” here and keep scrolling for our exclusive interview with Mountain Head Hey guys! Welcome to BuzzMusic. Can you start by telling us more about how you two met? The story of how we met is pretty funny, I suppose one day when we were very young Kyle would have been playing Super Mario 3 on Nintendo, when his parents walked in wielding what they called "A new bundle of joy" that bundle of joy had a name, it's name was Ben, & Ben was Kyles younger brother and we've known each other ever since. Where are you from? What’s the music scene like there? We are from Toronto, Ontario. The scene is pretty vibrant there are a lot of venues and a lot of flourishing acts, it's always been good to us and it's fun and diverse. The Skyline is the secret place where the musicians hang. When we were just getting the music going we would pop in there and play a couple songs to street test them. What would be your dream venue to perform? Why? A dream venue would be at the peak of Mount Everest, I suppose if one could conquer all peaks then you've 'made it', and we've heard the reverb is great. For a more terrestrial venue we would say Massey Hall, or Red Rocks......Massey Hall is the legendary venue in Canada, all the best shows have happened there, it sounds amazing, and has a irrefutable vibe. Red Rocks is self explanatory you get to vibrate your music off ancient history. What’s your writing process like? Our process is usually the 2 of us holed up in the studio chasing around the 'muse' or whatever you'd like to call it. Sometimes we have  a vague idea of a song and sometimes the song has a vague idea of us, we just sit down and go until we find something we like. We try not to intrude with our personalities too much and let the idea form itself. Tell us more about “Gaslight”. What do you want the listeners to take away from this track? Gaslight was a very fun song to chase down. The main groove & riff was discovered while writing a bridge for a different song. It didn't take us long to realize that what we were playing could be more than a bridge, and thus it became Gaslight. Gaslight comes from the heart(s) and we are kind of delivering a message that isn't always the easiest to look at. It's kind of like an Ikaros trying to bring you back from the same ol traps we all set ourselves up with. We'd love people to feel good when listening to this song, and to just take a break and have a listen, it goes along with the summer vibe. Listen to “Nostalgia” here and check out our exclusive interview with Joey Magic below! Hey Joey! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you get started in music? How old were you? Music was always a part of my culture especially when there was a lot of family round or any sort of celebration music brought everyone together and I liked the positive impact it had on my family as a whole but I never considered it as a career (strict African parents and all that jazz). When I came to the UK I definitely entertained my creative energies a bit more and I was around 14/15 when I actually started writing my own raps and showing my friends. I also remember my brother making me memorise popular rappers  rap verses when I was a lot younger so we could have fun singing along whilst watching MTV. What do you do to feed your passion for music daily? My passion for music comes naturally. I always seek to enhance my musical knowledge by listening to a variety of music genres and watching documentaries of artists and the impact they have had on the industry. I’m constantly seeking to diversify my own music by learning new literary techniques and even at times reading poetry to see how to create an engaging narrative. What does “Nostalgia” mean to you? How do you want your listeners to feel when they hear it? Haha Nostalgia funnily enough makes me feel ‘nostalgic’ and I hope it has a similar effect on my listeners. I want them to be able to hear each bar and create scenes in their own head on how the video to this song would look. It’s a very chilled out song so I hope it has a very calming effect. How does this track “Nostalgia” compare to one of your earliest tracks? How have you improved/evolved as an artist? My lyricism, ability to stay on beat and the way I project my voice has definitely improved. Before, sometimes I lacked clarity and some of my bars seemed rushed and it could definitely be heard. I took time out to hone in my skills and I definitely feel I’ve levelled up super saiyan style. If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why? Anyone who knows me knows that I would without doubt definitely collaborate with J Dilla. Production wise the man was so upper echelon it was unbelievable and the sounds he was able to create with the MPC was beyond astounding. He also had vocals on a few tracks too which just showed how wide his skill range was. Created very timeless music and I would be so honoured to create a track with him. Vibe along with StarChild Kayla's "In My Bag" here, and continue reading for the artists exclusive interview with us at BuzzMusic! Hey StarChild Kayla! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Please tell our readers a bit about yourself as an artist. My name is StarChild Kayla from Cincinnati, Ohio by way of Dayton, Ohio. I have been making music for about 5 years. I write, produce, and engineer music for myself and I produce projects and do features for many other artists. I am also a musician. I play multiple instruments such as guitar, piano, and drums. I enjoy all types of music so if you are reading this and you need help with your projects, in all genres of music, hit me up @starchildkayla. What kind of mood are you looking to create with your music? When I first started making music I was on that "I'm sad" wave, but I quickly realized that that's just not who I am. I then had to find what mood really fit me. It took a while but I believe that my real mood is young and free. "In My Bag" was an incredibly addicting and catchy song. What was the main vision with the execution of this track for you? My boy @99ave sent me the beat and I'm bobbing my head to it just going crazy. I free styled the chorus right when I heard it. Then I wrote the verse when I started recording it. I love performing "In My Bag" because the crowd goes crazy with the chant, "It's a late night party on a late night." So I really want everybody to go crazy when they hear it and keep singing it when they leave. What are some challenges you've faced so far as an artist that shapes the way your music is curated today? One of the biggest challenges that I face is not being taken seriously as a female artist. Unfortunately in the hip hop industry it's hard being a female artist because you are               expected to look, sound, and act a certain way and if you don't, it feels like no one wants to hear from you unless there is some extra convincing. So as an artist I always make sure I sound my best on features. Are you in the midst of working on any upcoming releases we can rave about? I am currently working on a ton of songs. Look out for my next single release titled, "Nonsense" which is written and produced by me. I have a 3 song EP coming out titled, "To The Stars". One of the songs features my best friend @trustinrxclii. I am also releasing my first album titled, "Pretty Ugly" which does not yet have a release date. It has 8 songs and it has features by @99ave and @itwasartem. I'm currently producing and doing features for many other artists. Just type StarChild Kayla in the search bar of all music streaming platforms and you can enjoy all that I have to offer. I highly recommend you check it out! Listen to “Ride” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Hi 2Day! Can you start by introducing yourself and telling us more about your launch into music? I was born and raised in Toronto in a part of the city called Scarborough, i initially started making music at around the age of 14. Primarily when i started out i was doing more Rap music then anything else, music has always really been a huge passion for me and acted as a pretty big escape for me. I was always taking it seriously but unfortunately i didn't really have the right resources available at the beginning of my career to take things to where I needed to, i ended up posting a video on my Instagram page and a pretty major Instagram platform in my city called 6ixbuzz reposted the video which put a lot of attention on me. So once the video went viral people started reaching out and i ended up partnering with an independent label and things have been moving pretty steadily ever since. “Ride” is a great track! How did you come up with it? I originally started the melody on another beat, but when i heard the ride beat i thought it would fit better with a higher key and it worked out great. We were initially shopping features for the record and In the meantime i had to put a second verse on it, once i did the verse for the record we played it back and everyone loved it so much that we decided to release it as my lead single. Who are your top three musical influences? Ed Sheeran, Gyptian, Sam Smith How do you feel about today’s mainstream music scene? What makes you stand out? I find there's a lot of great music right now, but i find that a lot of music is also dishonest and i think we need more real authentic work in the industry. When can we expect the newest single to drop? Myself and the label feel really confident in this Ride record and we've just released it so we really want to see how far we can take it before dropping my next single, however i would anticipate we will get another single out before the end of the summer to keep everyone happy! He’s been doing music forever so I come from a creative family. Can you describe your stage presence and live performance? I'm more of a laidback performer. Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you the two of you meet and how did Caliban Strange come to fruition? We started off in the 80s and were part of an experimental, concept band called, "The Powdered Brains". The brains were largely improvisational. MC Church gained knowledge through his engineering background and work wth technology, and Dr. Hofer through inventing. We managed to stay in touch with each other because of music. First it was "Caliban", based on the Shakespearean play, and later "Strange" was added. We became the Mobius Group. Since the millennium we have been producing live music and active collaboration globally. We hide behind the persona that 'Caliban Strange' is an alien and an ambassador who brought music to the earth to get along with the human race. What's the meaning behind your track “Waves of Laughter”? This is an interesting song, the full title is "Waves of Laughter: Sounds of Danger". The song explores the human characteristic of laughing in the face of danger. We use theatrics in our live performances. It has a contrapuntal element based on the singing group Sadler and Young in Vegas. This is an infomercial for our product "Rock Power". Waves of laughter is the intro to our show. Those that experience our lounge act are bought into the inner circle of Caliban Strange. Our debut performance of this piece was played in an off-strip Hotel. There is a video of us being interviewed on YouTube. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? Music is like a psychic wave generator. We broadcast our music into outerspace, and once there is no more air for sound, the mushroom spores vibrate. It is like the bell jar experiment. Inside the jar, is a rock that grows mushrooms on it. The music is broadcast through the mushrooms like a speaker or amplifier. We believe music transforms attitudes and stereo biases. It is truly a healing substance. We want our listeners to experience new thoughts and emotions, hear something unlike anything they've heard before. What can listeners expect from your EP “The Solar Powered Rock”? The Solar Powered Rock is the rock that is changing the world. It is a metaphor for the planet. It includes the 70s song, an anthem based on Lewis Carol, It has Dali, the great surreal master, or Dr. Remington, a glimpse at the mind of a creator/healer. The music is like the pet rock. It is a phenomena.-A rare gem. It is for people who like their rock music happy and peppy with surprise mind-twists. It is mostly in a minor key. Think Tom Waits meets Leonard Cohen on the Jerry Springer show with Barney. It has been featured on reality television. What’s next for Caliban Strange!? We are part of a grant from the Canadian government's Art Council to create a new model for musical education. We want to make music accessible for all. We offer a live interactive webinar for bands, to teach them digital strategy in a changing music environment. The initiative is called BandLaunch. We are teaching business and access methods for music and art. Bands sign up to an online Farm, and upload their music and photos. The animals can't get off the Farm but their music can. This is a totally unique opportunity. We are here to help bands and give back. Currently, we are in a period of great artistic productivity, creating enough material for several albums per year. Ideas are flowing, and we are tuning our gonzo stage performance so that we can visit to a city near you! Official music videos get comments like 'What the hell did I just see?" • Experimental Rock Runs Deep In “Point Blank” By Dos Leones

Dos Leones is an American Alternative/ Experimental Rock Band from Laredo, Texas. Formed in 2012, the line up consists of Justin White (vocals) Rene Castillo (guitar), Caleb Villarruel (drums), Trey White (bass). Inspired by the roots of Hispanic culture and the American Dream, the four members live on the border, between the Countries of the United States and Mexico. Originally named Two Lions the group finished a successful tour and then got a call on their very last show, the band name they chose was already trademarked. Frustrated after so much effort put into the project, the band decided it was best not to go through legal action as funds were not going to be an option. Looking for better perspective, the choice was made to be represented stronger with the name translated to spanish, which would represent their city and culture. Thus, Dos Leones was born. In 2018 Dos Leones finished an energetic, psychedelic 5 song EP titled, “Standby”. The EP includes authentic rock hit “Point Blank”, it has a high energy intro that features pummeling guitars and hardcore raspy vocals, we’re instantly hooked! The hard-hitting drums and gritty vocals add the rock n roll flare we need. Fused with elements of funk, indie and garage rock, the avant-garde collective Dos Leones’ track “Point Blank” is a sure crowd pleaser. The infectious melody, catchy riffs, and contagious rhythms will have you toe-tapping along to the finely-calibrated track. I highly recommend you check out not only this track, but the entire 5 song EP “Standby”. Listen to “Point Blank” here and read more with Dos Leones below! Hello Dos Leones! Thanks for chatting with us! Can you dive into the lyrics of your featured track “Point Blank”? So this song is based in Laredo TX in 2002, on an experience my (Justin’s) father went through when I was around the age of 9. This is when both sides of the border (Laredo, TX/Nuevo Laredo, MX) started to become very dangerous. We had gangs and The Mexican Mafia that were growing, which created a very unsafe atmosphere, intensifying drug smuggling and armed robberies, to human trafficking, gang violence, and killings. We can definitely say in comparison to what it is now, we are 1000% safer. So the story takes place at a diesel mechanic shop where my (Justin’s) father used to work. It was without warning, a couple of vehicles stormed into the lot. About 6 men jumped out, armed with weapons shouting at the mechanics to do as they say. They rushed everyone into a small office trailer where most of the paperwork is done. They demanded everyone including my father, to line up, get on their knees, look down, and have their hands above their heads. Their guns were at “point blank” range. They made sure no one was to move and stayed quiet. A man walked in, in black, and apparently they were searching for someone specific who owed money. He told his men that the guy wasn’t any of them and they had hit the wrong place. But given they were already in that situation, he asked his men for everyone’s wallet and to take what’s in the safe. Without any casualties, they took what they wanted and vanished. Till this day, we don’t know where they are, and if they are even alive. Fortunately I still have my father. We love your track “Point Blank”! What do you hope your listeners take away from it? So I hope people try to decipher the lyrics, and understand that Laredo TX, was Almost like the Old West, less than 2 decades ago. The lyrics are upfront when you learn the meaning but the explosion and grittiness in the instruments and vocals, were definitely influenced by the way local newspapers and my father described the situation. So yeah, I’d say for the Listeners to take-in the adrenaline. What’s the overall theme of your EP “Standby”? We based it off the modern experience. Most people in our age group live with anxiety because we are afraid of what the future holds. We can see ahead of time based on past experiences technology has recorded. We don’t know if we will be financially and mentally stable. As for the older generations, it is recorded that this group is prone to depression. Which makes sense, given that their timelines deal in Wars, the Great Depression era, financial failures, segregation and so forth. I'm not trying to be black and white about it, But we are so confused and frustrated with non physical problems, that we can’t just conquer it with hammer and nails. I feel this is why we blame each other when we should unplug from that reality. So the Standby TV concept is a checkpoint for people, to put a pause in the trance we are in, and if you are not already there, begin the shift in perspective to the present. What’s your writing process like as a group? Justin/Vocalist Will do 95% of the writing. He does write on his own time but whenever we create a song, the lyrics are freshly done after the instrumentation has been laid out. We usually start with drums and bass. Move on to guitar and synth. Finally the writing and vocals. The music is the factor that dictates what Justin feels. Using the feel as a base to his writing process, he pulls out experiences he or others have had, into words which creates direction. The lyrics and vocals will at times be accompanied by Rene. What’s your stage presence like? In one Word would be “Energetic,” But to be transparent, most times we want to be professional and be as clean and choppy as possible, but to be blunt, I think we keep it raw and honest. It’s safe to say that on any stage, we live in the presence of now. Yes we rehearse shows, and yes we plan our set time, but in the end we lose track of logic. It seems we have a reason that reason does not understand. There will be mistakes every now and then but it’s the experience the audience can take in and we’d like to think, it is very important that they do. Stream “Joy Ride” here, check out the music video below and keep scrolling for our exclusive interview! Hi Mel! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you dive into the details of the lyrics in “Joy Ride”? What emotions did you channel when writing it? The original lyrics of this song was meant to be over a trip-hop project that never ended up following through. At the time while writing, I got into this really eerie, mysterious and dark mood after coming out of a near death experience. (Here in Ontario, Canada, my partner and I got into a dangerous car accident in June 2018). We survived of course, and no further damages were made other than a mild concussion. For months after that experience my mind was a tornado. I thought about life, expectations, our roles in society, and all the pressures we go through in order to please loved ones, family, and society in general. When I wrote this song primarily, I got into the mood I was feeling, and the words kind of just slipped out naturally with nothing planned. The trip-hop tune never ended up following through due to change of circumstance. From there, I took the demo and brought it to a friend of mine Adam Van Ameringen who is a producer here in Toronto. I explained to him how much I connected with the melody and lyrics and wanted to turn this over into a brand new song that would be my next Melotika single. The idea I had in mind for this track was creating an avant-garde composition blending the genres of pop rock and industrial music. Adam has a diverse musical taste along with myself, and together having a passion for sound design, we went over different sound textures and just started creating in the studio. Adam brilliantly added his electric guitar which really made the sound big! We reconstructed the tune several times and I ended up sitting on the song for weeks rewriting new choruses until I was finally happy with it. The brand new single "Joy Ride" by Melotika is meant to be creative, strange and wild. Overall, the lyrics of the song is about conquering being an outsider and being different. This song is about "fighting the fight against the self and the world" while empowering the listener. After the car accident I had a mini awakening: I just needed to be a little more true to myself and let that flow into my projects. We love the video! Where was it filmed? Why did you choose that location? We filmed the video around Cherry Beach and Polson Pier here in Toronto. This location was decided because after selecting the costume concept, I thought an industrial bright setting would be perfect to film a spacey new wave song! The studio where the song was recorded and produced in was nearby, I just sort of felt the vibe here. There seems to be a lot of energy around that area musici wise having Rebel night club around, and a mixture of industrial settings and nature. A lot of the scenery reminded me of being on planet Mars or the Moon - and big spaceships and drone like devices in the back! The idea was to do a sci-fi 70’s throwback. Fred Yurichuck was the cinematographer for this project. We have to know, how long did the makeup take for the shoot?! I was late for my own video shoot because the makeover took longer than expected! 4 hours I believe. Toronto makeup artist Erin Sweeney was the mastermind behind this. I brought to her this idea of spray painting my body, and getting a 70’s type, David Bowie throwback, androgonous look and creating cartoon-like screaming mouths on the palms of both hands. It was a total success. I remember having the longest shower of my life afterwards! The point of this look was to give out the impression of a human transitioning into an Extraterrestrial and being in limbo. Groovy and weird all around. What do you think sets you apart from other indie pop artists? There is this awesome music blogger from New Jersey, Tina Romano that I have been in touch with now for months. I will have to quote her words a little bit for this one! I believe one thing that would set me apart from other indie pop artists is that I do not shy away from speaking my mind about personal topics. A previous song off my debut EP "Don't Believe (You Speak)" touched on breaking free from emotional abuse. "Bittersweet Reality" is a tune with a sense of bitter resignation as I sing about the conflict between our reality and the self-image we project to the world. My concepts and topics are deep and can make one feel uncomfortable at the same time feel relatable. We are all human, life is not always peaches and cream, money and glitter. One more thing that sets me apart would be that I am notorious for not following the “rules” of the music industry. It has always been difficult to break into the well-connected boys club here in the music scene. I happen to tour often with my boyfriend, who is an alternative hip hop artist in Toronto Krosst Out. Often you can see me perform pop music at hip hop shows and rock shows. What’s next for Melotika? As an independent artist it is necessary to also work on the marketing side of music. This is what I will be working on for the rest of the summer: networking and promoting the new single! I will get some new shows happening in the near future.I am very much inspired to take some of my songs and get them produced and create a concept EP. Check out “Monster” here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Kevin, welcome to BuzzMusic! Was there something or someone in your life that inspired you to start making music? Thanks for having me! My Parents made sure I grew up on a steady diet of classic rock, so I've always loved guitar and riff driven rock music. My Uncle Ed got my my first guitar when I was 13 and taught me my first few chords & riffs, and that really got me into playing guitar and music. Until semi-recently I had focused primarily on playing guitar, but in the last few years I wanted to be able to write and sing my own songs. I've also been really inspired by "Highly Suspect" - I really dig their style, and they grew up close to where I'm originally from (Harwich, MA) so that's been really inspiring to watch them make great music and see them take off. What’s you debut single “Monster” about? What was the writing process like for your first release? Ha, it's a bit of a heavy answer. Let's just say I didn't act like a gentlemen in one of my previous relationships, and it blew up in a pretty ugly way. I've grown up a lot since that time of my life, and "Monster" captures how I was feeling about myself during that time. It was kind of cathartic - I think part of me was still holding on to shame / guilt about how I behaved, and by putting it into a song and making it public, it's helped me make peace with the past. For the writing process, I typically have a handful of rock riffs that I'm working on or playing with, and I really liked the riff that's in the intro to "Monster". From there, it was about trying to tell the story and finding a melody that I liked and that meshed with riff & chord structure. What artists influence your music? Highly Suspect has been a really big recent influence on my writing and playing (I think you can hear it in "Monster" as well). I'm also a huge fan of Aerosmith, Slash, Muse, Royal Blood, and I think all of these bands seep their way into anything I write. I'm also really into The Maine and especially dig their approach to lyrics & melody. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? First and foremost I hope they dig the song! There are still times when a killer riff will come on the radio (yes, I'm an elder millennial so I still listen to FM radio occasionally) and it gives me goosebumps, so I'm always aiming with anything I write to elicit an emotional reaction (aka "awwww $hit, turn that $hit up!). With the lyrics for "Monster", I tried to just tell the truth (even when it's about a part of me I'm not exactly proud of), so if it helps another person make peace with themselves, then that's awesome. What’s next for Kevin Eldridge? I'm planning on staying in writing mode for the near future and releasing some more singles, and then I'm planning to set up some shows for the LA area for later this year. • Hard-Hitting Vocalist Splizzard Unleashes His Power In "Gorilla"

Hailing from Washington, DC, is powerful rap artist Splizzard. Splizzard is unique in his own way of rapping (can't you tell by the name), and he produces tracks that acquire such a robust intensity, only few can really pull off. Splizzard not only pulls off the combative approach to his music, he nails it in every way possible. We honestly couldn't find one element to Splizzard's tracks that didn't feel honest and raw to us. He puts out real energy, and shares vulnerable experiences with his listeners in order to root for a deeper resonance with them. Already grinding hard in 2019, Splizzard has released three singles, along with music videos that will change your way of viewing rap. We love the contribution Splizzard is making to the rap music scene, especially in this day and age. Our new favorite track is Splizzard's most recent release: "Gorilla". Splizzard, without a doubt, incorporates heavy-hitting and impactful vocalism within his latest track "Gorilla". The track maintains an aggressive and forceful tone throughout, making way for an intense execution. Splizzard's lyrical production cannot be overlooked---Splizzard attempts to connect with listeners in a deeper way, integrating lyricism that holds his honest and true experiences. We're receiving the same type of energy with Splizzard as we do with Eminem's sound production---the type of energy that is fierce, yet clearly vivid. "Gorilla" is a track that will get your blood pumping for sure, and we already know if we ever have to get aggressively hyped up, Splizzard's tracks are the way to go! Catch Splizzard's "Gorilla" here, and scroll below for our interview with the artist! Hey Splizzard! Can you tell our readers the meaning behind your stage name? What element to the name resonated with you most? My name is a mix of two nicknames I had when I was younger. Psychotic "because I was always a little on edge" (and who else isn’t sometimes now and then) and The Wizard "because for some reason I’ve always been gifted when working with electronics" (implementing that to Music Production). Somewhere down the line people started calling me Splizzard to make it easier and it stuck. Nowadays I relate mostly to The Wizard because I can do almost anything in the Lab and I’m always looking to push new boundaries. Knowing that a large portion of your music is a big reflection on your personal life, how important is it to you to resonate with your listeners when it comes to personal and private experiences? I feel that the most emotional music comes from a personal space. It is very important to connect on a personal level. I want to always make music that relates to what I’m going through at that moment. You never know when someone if feeling the exact same way you are feeling right now and what you contribute maybe can help. Did you feel the overall message of "Gorilla" was easily communicated to listeners? What would you say was the integral message in the track? I feel like the overall message is hidden but easily identified. It is that we can all be a stereotype but it’s up to us to show the world what we truly are. We are what we want to be Who would you say are your top two musical influences? Do these artists have a huge influence on the production of your music? My two Top Musical influences are Eminem (of course because of the raw lyrical talent and the way he connects words) and Logic (because he is very relatable, is rapping about more than what most other rappers are talking about nowadays and plus he's from my home town Maryland) shout out 301. They have a huge impact on my music "no mumble rap". What are you up to next after the release of "Gorilla"? I’m currently working on new songs, collaborations and Videos. I’m also doing local shows in the upcoming months "watch out DC". Might drop an album at the end of the year "Lord willing". The sky is the limit for me at the moment.
