He pours his emotion and soul into every track he puts down and we can’t wait to see what he delivers next! Listen to “Bail Money” here and read more below in our exclusive interview with Struggle Jennings! How did you come up with your stage name? Most of my friends called me “Struggle” way before I caught any attention (in the music world) Back when I first started my career, a good friend of mine, who was also doing music, said to me “with everything you go through man, you ARE the struggle”, so It became my nickname, and my stage name once I started performing. I had always just gone by “Struggle” until the media added “Jennings” to my name in some news articles right after we filmed “Black Curtains” (SIDEBAR: he snuck a camera crew into a Davidson Country prison to film the video). I recorded my first album in 2010 called “I am Struggle”, but by 2013, people were referring to me as “Struggle Jennings”, including my fans. Ultimately, I decided that by using my Grandfather’s last name, it was a great way to pay homage to someone who influenced my life- both musically, and personally. Your songs have a very powerful lyrical presence. What’s your writing process like? Thank you. When I sit down to write, words kinda just fall onto the paper. I’don’t have a process, really. I just put the music on and start writing. And because I’m writing about real life, the words come easily. I hope people hear that in my music. How did your collaboration with Trap DeVille come to fruition? I first met Trap when he auditioned to play lead guitar for the Waylon & Willie tour in early 2018. At the time, I also learned he was living out of his car, just chasing the dream like the rest of us. He became more than a tour-mate, and someone I consider a friend. Trap’s got a bluesy rock-n-roll vibe, but he’s also got a lot of soul, you can hear his pain. Collaborating was a natural fit because our stories are in many ways the same. What is your new track “Bail Money” all about? The song's message is about staying driven and motivated to overcome that one big obstacle that keeps standing in your way- whether its bail money, bill money, or something intangible – the message is about perseverance. In the song, I say “I’ll win the war if I can beat the charges” – those words correlate to “if I can just do this one thing, if I can just get it right, I’ll be ok” What drives me the most when it comes to making music, is the hundreds of messages I get each day, from people who have found my music, and used it as inspiration to deal with whatever they're going through. They are the ones that inspire me to keep telling my story. I’d rather have a hundred thousand fans that feel my words than have a million fans getting the wrong message. What’s next for Struggle Jennings? Touring almost every weekend, and I’m in the studio regularly working on several new projects. Bail Money is the first single we released off an upcoming project called “Angeles & Outlaws”, a collaborative effort between myself, Trap Deville and my daughter Brianna Harness. It will be released later this year, along with Waylon & Willie 4. I hope to have another solo album done by next Spring, and Brianna and Trap are both working on their own solo projects, which I am honored to be a part of. Can you tell us a bit about your upbringing and how you got started making music? I’m blessed to have such a strong musical background in my family. From singers to musicians. I started playing drums in my local church when I was about 13. Around my junior year in high school I started experimenting with music production. Never thought about taking it to the level it’s at now until about 2014. Having dinner in LA with my best friend Ricardo he convinced me my music was good enough to start putting it out on streaming platforms. He said he had someone that can help and introduced me to Marcos Navarro from Calmex Music Group. A year later my Debut EP “The Sixth Year” was released. I released my debut album “Contact “ under Calmex and decided after that I’d be releasing music 100% independently on my own. How many of the instrumentals on the track “Lacuna” are you? I’m using about four tracks total. Strings, Piano , drums and the synth pad you hear in the opening track. Once I had the basic foundation of the song it all came together beautifully. I didn’t want to keep adding more tracks and take away from the song in anyway. Felt it was perfect as it was. Simple yet beautiful Do you mix your tracks as well as write them? I leave the mixing to my boy Alan Serrano. He’s mixed everything since I’ve started recording at his studio. I’d be there in the mixing sessions and I’d give him my input on the tracks and what I’m looking for in the mix. Mixing is more his field and I’m haven’t even begun to mix on my own yet. I leave it to the professionals. What do you hope listeners take away from “Lacuna”? My music is meant to be a form as escapism as well as something that is liberating and inspiring. The mind can be a very beautiful thing . My job is to provide the soundtrack that can take the listener on whatever journey they desire. What’s next for you? I took a small break after releasing “Lacuna” so I’ll be headed back to the studio to start working on my next project. Not sure what direction the new album will be in but I’m very excited to start working on new music. Keep up with Jason through social media! www.instagram.com/jason_ariasmusic #BuzzMusic

I highly recommend you check it out the track and stay on the lookout for Bobby Vega and all his future endeavors! Listen to “Who’s Who” here and read more below in our exclusive interview with Bobby Vega! Hey Bobby, welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you think of a specific event or person that really impacted you and drove you to pursue a music career? Well a lot of different real life events went into the reasons of why I started making music (The sound of my voice solely being the reason) but the one person who is currently in the mainstream music industry that was the inspiration behind me pursuing a career in music is my boy Cameron Thomaz, known professionally as Wiz Khalifa. Since first hearing Wiz’s mixtape “Starpower”, at a young age i identified with Wiz’s style of music and every mixtape or project after that, I idolized his road to success. How do you draw inspiration from your diverse influences? Well see that's the thing with my influences being so diverse, it helps me be diverse in the type of music I make at the moment I'm making it. For example, All of the artists I draw influence from all inspire me at different moments and the evocation of there of their inspirations influences me to be transcendent in the way i'm about to go about the music I'm making. If that makes any sense. What’s your track “Who’s Who” all about? What do you hope your listeners take away from it? “Who’s Who” was made after a litty 3 day weekend of big event parties and good vibe get togethers with my crew and various groups of girls, gave me the inspiration to make a song about some of my experiences from that weekend. Each verse in the song tells of my experiences from that weekend, but the hook is what the overall weekend consisted of and what the Track is really about. What i want my listeners to understand is that everyone is not who they seem to be within a party setting and that you can be each two things in life which is either “ A Dub” (not wanted) or “The New Swoop” (wanted). What’s your writing process like? My Writing process isn't much of a writing process but more of a recording process. When i hear a beat and catch a vibe from it, I immediately turn on the voice memo or voice recording feature on my phone and start saying whatever comes to mind. Most of the time i do like 3 to 4 different takes on a beat and listen to it back then take pieces I want to use and start piecing the song together. Most of the time i start with a concept and go along from there, while other times I just catch a vibe or groove to the beat and I just go with the flow. What’s next for Bobby Vega? Well My highly anticipated 13 song mixtape “THE VEGA TAPE” is due any day now along with a series of music videos from songs off the tape. Along with “THE VEGA TAPE” being what’s next for Bobby vega, an independent tour is also in the works for vega and his Team GGE (Golden Gang Ent) leaning towards to end of the summer. Other then that, you Definitely want to keep up with Vega’s movement. Keep up with Bobby Vega through his socials! www.instagram.com/vega_vega_yall www.facebook.com/bobby.jgl.vega #BuzzMusic

Get ready for your summer 2019 anthem and stay on the lookout for Sidney B and his future releases. Check out “My Time” here and read more below in our exclusive interview below! Hey Sidney! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you tell about your upbringing and how you got started making music? I always loved music. I remember when I was a kid, impersonating Michael Jackson in front my TV. I started writing lyrics, making beats and founded a rap band when I was a teen. I’ve been producing music ever since. My style evolved a lot throughout the years, naturally blending different influences like Funk, Pop and R'n'b into my music. What emotions did you channel when writing “My Time”? "My Time" feels like a stadium anthem. I wrote this song to inspire and empower people, in a period of my life when I needed to fulfill these feelings. What’s the meaning behind the lyrics “My Time”? It’s a statement about taking a stand and stepping in your power. When you overcome obstacles and thrive to become the best version of yourself, you know what time it is: "Your time to shine". What’s your writing process generally look like? As I produce most of my music I often start with laying down some chords on the keyboard and from there I come with a singing melody. With the feeling of the chords, words and ideas start to appear, then I usually work on shaping sentences using subtleties and double meanings. Can you describe your stage presence for someone who has never seen you perform? What sets you apart? Definitely the words that the people use the most are: High Energy! It’s a big party, we are sometimes 9 on stage with the full band and brass section. I sing , I rap, I dance and I love to move the crowd. It's a communion , people sing along and jump around, its fantastic! Keep up with Sidney B! www.facebook.com/sidneybmusic www.instagram.com/sidneybmusic #BuzzMusic
- Exclusive Interview: Rocky Morningside Gets Real About His Track "Bones"
Welcome to BuzzMusic Rocky Morningside! We're so excited to have you with us. how would you describe your upbringing? what really motivated you to begin rapping? My upbringing was rough. Parents had me young. My mother was 15, my father was 18. They hadn't figured out who they were as individuals because they were kids. They got married because it was the "right thing to do at the time." They divorced when I was 3. Shortly after my Dad remarried. We lived in a single wide trailer where I shared a small room with two brothers. I was the step kid.. The black sheep! My Dad and stepmom partied a lot. There was a party almost every night of my entire childhood. People of all walks of life were at our place constantly. It was nothing to see a businessman pull up in a brand new Porsche then the next night 4 or 5 Bandidos on Harley's. Behind that shitty single wide trailer was a bodyshop where my dad worked on cars. I spent a lot of time in that shop. From the moment the school bus dropped me off till it was dark I was working from as early as 8 years old. My father worked the hell out of me and I fucking hated it. I hated working as a kid, I hated that trailer, I hated being there, I hated feeling alone, being poor, ratty ass hand me down clothes, and most of all I hated not knowing what side of the bed my step mother was going to wake up on. Some days she was kind but most of my childhood spent with her was mentally or physically abusive. One night after a long evening of drinking and playing cards with their friends she beat me pretty bad. I had blood coming out of my ear, nose, and my eye ended up swelling shut. I ran to the neighbors house to call my Mom whom I hadn't lived with since 3 years old and barely had a relationship with. She picked me up and took me to her house where I ended up living for 3 years with her and her new husband. I was 11 years old at the time all of that happened. So I moved from the country back to the city and the middle school that I attended had guitar class. I chose guitar as elective because music soothing to my otherwise stressful child mind. I also had this idea that if I could get famous no one could ever hurt me again. I would be untouchable! Things were better at home with my Mom but school was tough. I didn't fit in, and the pressure to be in a gang was really intense at that time. I found myself in a lot of fights. I ended up boxing for 3 years after getting jumped by a group of guys and became a pretty skilled fighter. Fighting help me gain the confidence to go after what I wanted no matter how ambitious. Ultimately all of that led me to where I am today and as crazy as it sounds I wouldn't change a thing because it made me sharp and hard. Knowing you have this radical lyrical style. Who would you consider some of your music influences and inspirations for your sound and why? My sound comes from from truly deep within. I wrote down my emotions from as early as I can remember because I didn't have anyone to talk to about serious things. I would write in riddles and from the prospective of made up of others to mask my thoughts in fear of getting in trouble. I got good at it early on. I won 3rd place in the 3rd grade for a children's story I wrote called "The Millionaire Mouse." I had an obsession with being rich because we were poor. I think my radical style probably comes from that and living in a melting pot of cultural diversity and being surrounded by so many people of different walks of life. Despite the tough times growing up everywhere I went music was playing. ALWAYS! My Grandmother listened to gospel, Elvis and country music, My Father listened to what is now commonly known as classic rock, soul, rhythm and blues, and even outlaw country. My Mom loved groove, funk, pop, disco, and what is now commonly known as 80's soft rock or love songs. Each of them were somewhat influenced by the other and so on. I was amazed by Michael Jackson, Ice T, NWA, Houdini, Motley Crue, Metallica, Pantera, Megadeath, The Doors, Waylon Jennings, Easy E, Dr Dre, 2 Pac, Type O Negative. So many others. Nothing was foreign to me. My stepmom worked at a record store before my younger years got dark and she use to bring home new music a lot. I got to really explore different types of music early on. I suppose in some subconscious compiling of all of that "my sound" is the after effect of my surroundings as a kid so perhaps my musical influences are those I mentioned and a whole lot more. Your single "Bones" has a strong lyrical presence to it. What pushed you to write this single? I think there is a lot that we as a society don't know. I think the larger embodiment of the world believes what they are taught to believe from the moment they are born. We aren't taught to ask larger and more complicated questions and why? The fear of ridicule? People have trouble thinking outside of what they are programmed to think from birth. A lot of what we are taught as adolescences is vague and riddled with gaps so for me that was unacceptable. I would ask the preacher, scholar, he or she proclaiming to be a teacher, deeper questions that they couldn't answer. After recycling those questions over a period of time I realized these fuckers don't know either! It's because they're programmed just like I was growing up. Like I still am to a degree. Like you are! It boils down to control and obedience. Complex subjects such as these encompasses a portion of my creative prospective. Its a part of me so when answering the question of "what pushed me to write Bones" I'd have to say it just came to me naturally because I'm interested in these types of things. The challenge of challenging what we are so vigorously taught. What would you consider one of the most challenging aspects of creating "Bones" and why? how did you overcome this? Probably the subject matter itself. Taking topics of such depth then paraphrasing those ideas into just under three minutes. Making light of an otherwise scary and depressing concept by flipping the contextual darkness with the hook "the eye in the sky is watchin', if it watchin' it gone see some ass droppin'." I guess that could be considered a challenge. So many lyrics crammed tight into complex verses could be a bit much for someone looking to grove or chill but that hook brings you back out of the dark and makes you wanna shake your ass or bang your head. It's a deep record but the concept came to me pretty fast. I wrote the lyrics within or around 30 minutes. Deciding if its good enough for people to hear is what always takes me the longest. I get that inital surge of excitement while writing something that I think is cool because its fresh but the repetitive process of recording and proofing can sometimes suck the excitement right out it. By the time its ready for fans I'm feeling like scrapping it. I fully complete songs all the time and go so far as to film the visual with full production, team, actors, and all but when we get to the finish line I'll shelve it. I put in the vault with the many other misfits. If you hear my work its because I like it, its sentimental to me, or people in my circle like it, and sometimes its strategy. I have a song coming out in October called "Dracula." (short for Dracula Shit) I like it, my people like it, and for obvious reasons its a strategical release. Were there any specific arrangements you were going for when you constructed "Bones"? Do you mind detailing this for us? No plan or specific idea for any musical arrangement was thought or considered. My "beat geek" Focuz and me just dimmed the lights to near darkness, flipped on the lasers and went after a vibe. Usually how that works is he gets to banging drums or keys with various voices then I hear that one tone and frantically stop him or ask him to go back to something I heard 2 or 3 instruments before. We find that pocket and dive in together. I have years of experience writing with various types of song writers and musicians as does he so we're both rounded but together creatively, we are explosive and not afraid to take music anywhere. Sometimes he contributes more, sometimes I do but we've written so many songs that we don't keep up that that shit anymore. We're like a 2 man band but but lyrics are always very personal to me and inherently I'm a poet so I'm selfish with that part of it. While Bones didn't start off with an initial concept or thought out arrangement ultimately it became both by doing what we always do, dive in and feel it out. How do you plan on elevating your next song from "Bones"? What can we expect next from you Rocky Morningside? It's already elevated!! You just have to follow me and wait to see how I plan to do that but I assure you, I'm just getting warmed up and the sequel to Bones is called "Take Your Planet' and trust me when I say it is gonna be a bad mother fucker! Another level EPIC! Nobody has ever done it like I'm about to do it on this one. Just follow me and see kitties... After "Take Your Planet" you can expect a lot from me. I've got hundreds of songs stacked up. Many recorded and scheduled to release into the new year. I'm getting ready to schedule another block of time to record well over a dozen more. I write every day and never plan to stop. Everybody does it differently but my formula is to release singles into oblivion until I decide to do something different. Perhaps some full albums once my name gets out there a little more. I'm an independent artist so that means I can do what I want, whenever I want, and what I enjoy doing is keeping it fresh! Keeping it exciting and unpredictable. Much like an intimate relationship, to make it last you gotta be spontaneous, out of the box, and sometimes even a little risky. I want my fans to take chances with me. Don't expect Rocky to be a certain way because Post Malone is. Post Malone has his playground. Rocky plays where he wants. We don't have to keep up with the Jones's or the Kardashians, we can be the Jones's or whoever the fuck we wanna be. I'm not scared to take a chance on a wild song or concept because guess what, the next one won't be anything like the one before but if we're in this relationship together and if I can trust you to stick with me then you can always trust that I will do everything within my physical and mental power to give you the best art I can possibly give. That's love and passion wrapped in one. What more can you ask for? If you're with me I love you! If you're not, add me to one of your playlists and lets ride together! If you don't like me after a while, dump me and find another. Check out "Bones" here! - “Train Of Thought” By Noveliss Puts Him On The Map In A Big Way
Noveliss is apart of the legendary Hip-Hop collective, Clear Soul Forces. That collective earned themselves a record deal with Fat Beats in the mid 2000's and set the world ablaze with their single "Get No Better". Although the collective saw nothing but success, Noveliss knew he had an individual sound that needed to be heard. Noveliss decided he wanted to give fans a piece of himself that they didn’t get to hear in the group. Influenced by his love of everything Nerd Culture, Noveliss set out on his solo career. “Train Of Thought” is a heavily retrospective track that weaves through storytelling elements of personal trials and tribulations. Noveliss speaks his truth on real life experiences. He layers unique sound arrangements with expert bars and flawless delivery. The emotive poetry that “Train Of Thought” exudes is inspiring and motivating. The hook says “One day Im’a fly away, But until then I'll live through words on a page, My frame of mind chose all these railroads that's intricate, My train of thought blazing through road rails infinite” and we can’t get enough. The metaphorical bars and legendary backbeat flow perfectly together. Noveliss is off to an incredible start to his solo career, remember the name! Check out “Train Of Thought” here and keep scrolling for out interview with Noveliss! Hey Noveliss! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did the name Noveliss come to fruition? My name used to be J-Roc but I never thought of that as a real artist name. So after giving it some thought I knew I wanted to make music my children would be proud of and decided to use their names to create my moniker. My daughters name is Nova and my sons name is Jayliss. I combined them to create Noveliss and the rest is history! Let’s talk about your track “Train Of Thought”! What inspired this song and what was the writing process like? The inspiration for the track came from the random thoughts I have looking at society on a daily basis. Whether its planetary devastation (If you know you know), the political landscape, gun laws, my favorite comics, anime, & manga, or just the information we consume from news outlets. My writing process is very dynamic and I tend to write anywhere I get inspiration. So that can be the gym, out in nature, or honestly wherever. I don't just sit down and write rhymes, it can happen at any moment. We love your authentic sound! Do you have any specific musical influences you pull inspiration from? I'm a huge Nujabes, Redman and MF Doom fan. The Nujabes influence alone obviously ties into my love for Anime and Manga where I really sow my roots musically. Samurai Champloo..... The soundtrack he worked on opened my eyes to the way Hip-Hop and Anime blends perfectly, and I wanted to continue that legacy. Redman was the best MC of his era and embodied everything you should be as an artist to me. He was creative, smart, authentic, and on top of that an incredible performer. I try to bring all of those characteristics to my artistry every time I touch a microphone. As far as MF Doom goes? Hes my favorite MC hands down. He really is the bar I set for my career, where I can be successful playing by my own rules and on my own merit. What’s next for Noveliss? I've been touring very heavily lately and I'll continue to do so.. I have dates in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Washington, Oregon, and Nebraska. On top of that my group Clear Soul Forces has a packed schedule in Europe but I'm not complaining. Music wise look out for my next EP Sword of Nature this fall, and the follow up to my last LP Cerebral Apex next spring. I immigrated to Canada at a young age and had to learn English from scratch, so I began writing songs as a way to learn English. I would write little songs for family members, or jingles, or rhymes. Three years ago I started playing around with Ableton and actually putting together songs, my friends loved what I made so I decided to post on SoundCloud, and increased reception of my work kept me going. I just have so much fun doing it, music flows through my body, mind, and soul. I started taking it seriously when I realized how much impact music makes; on people’s individual day to day life to cultural and societal impacts. This realization came from listeners telling me how much empowerment, relatability, or joy my work brings them. Realizing this, I knew I had to keep doing it with the intention of creating positive cultural shifts through my music. Your new track “Call In Sick” is so sensual! Is this what you mean by creating a new norm in the music industry? “Call In Sick” is meant to be very sensual and simultaneously empowering and celebratory for queer women of color. Expression of sexuality is something that is so suppressed and taboo in desi culture, and for women of color overall. It’s always expected to be for the purpose of serving/pleasing men, rather than enjoying sexuality and sexual expression for yourself. This song creates that new norm in the music industry because its an actual dancehall type song that embraces queerness and embraces both dominance and submissiveness, putting me in charge of my own sexuality, on my own terms. It’s not meant to serve or please anyone but myself. It’s so common to hear dancehall music with slurs towards the gay community and objectification of women (which is present in mostly all rap/hiphop songs); I love dancing to this type of music but hated supporting that kind of cultural norm, which is why I made “Call In Sick”. If you look at the lyrics of “Call In Sick” you’ll see what I mean; “She love it when they give her brains, but she’ll never fuck with a no brainer, frontal lobe grown let her be your trainer”, and that’s exactly what it is. Tell us more about the writing process of “Call In Sick”! What inspired it? The hook came to me while driving to Scarborough being stuck on the 401 as usual. I immediately though of the premise of the entire song and recorded it on my phone. Then I wrote the verses. Part of the first verse was actually a few bars I had from two years ago which was inspired by the relationship I was in at the time. The second half of the second verse was meant to be very blunt as it is: to show that communication and consent can be, and should be, part of a very fun sexual experience. This song is also my own way of reclaiming and celebrating my sexuality, which, after having experienced sexual assault, was very hard for me to express and enjoy. This song reminds me that I can, and that my sexual assault experience does not and will not define my sex life. The inspiration also came from wanting to defy the norm of desi women not being allowed to talk about sex, I thought, fuck that. Who are your musical influences and how do you pull from them for inspiration? People called me rap genius because I would always know whatever song was playing, in any given environment. My musical influences span across all genres. My inspirations are endless but include slaying Queens such as Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu, Joan Jett, Aretha Franklin (RIP<3), Pink, Lauryn Hill, M.I.A., Princess Nokia, Tierra Whack, Noname, Rapsody, Little Simz, WondaGurl, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Santigold, and The Sorority to name a few. Male artists are cool too, but it’s the female artists that inspire me the most. I pull from their work ethic, morale, quality of work, and attitudes of not giving a fuck about others and unapologetically being yourself, establishing your own style. What’s next for you Shaili Champ? I’m focusing on producing again now, because I want to produce all the songs I have ideas for my mixtape and singles. I co-produced “Call In Sick” and realized I really miss producing my own work and being a one woman army of skill sets like a boss ass bitch. That being said, I am in the works of making music video(s) and potentially releasing another single before the end of the year. And of course, a mixtape in the works as well. - FAVORITE DUO OF THE WEEK: The Jon Johns
What can we even say about The Jon Johns that will fully convince the BuzzMusic community of their talent? The Jon Johns are an interesting group to hit the music scene, producing a sound that I have to say I don't hear enough of, but absolutely LOVE. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated with the most robust kind of energy once listening to these guys. Their debuting album "Road Trip Mixtape" was stellar, and once we gave a listen to their most recent single "Outlaw", we all knew that this was the song to beat in our books. Giving us crazy and exciting elements from the Rock n' Roll scene, combined with rapid rhythms exclusive to the duo themselves, The Jon Johns are ones to look out for in the music world. The tempo of The Jon Johns recent release "Outlaw" is incredible fast-paced, and will really captivate your attention. This is a track that I immediately added to my personal playlist. If you're a fan of the alternative music scene, you'll obsess (I practically drooled) over "Outlaw", and how many various elements of the greatest alternative hits it possesses. The Jon Johns curated a track that holds such energetic and eccentric tones, intertwining with some retro melodies I'm comfortable saying I'm happy were brought back into their music. "Outlaw" will completely fascinate you from start to finish. The track never lost my attention, and had my ears glued the entire length of the track. I'm comfortable enough admitting that by the end of the track, I was actually upset it had ended. The Jon Johns clearly curate music worth not only listening to, but supporting. We at BuzzMusic love it, we're listening to "Outlaw" and other tracks by the group, and we're highly (highly) suggesting the BuzzMusic community listens to it too. Check out "Outlaw" in all of its glory here, by The Jon Johns! Connect with The Jon Johns on social media www.instagram.com/thejonjohns #BuzzMusic
