- Female Artist Nix Blends Multiple Enduring Sounds Together In Latest Single “Playing With Fire"
We’re introducing a unique and eccentric female artist contributing authentic and inspiring music to the predominant R&B music scene. Nix. Simple the name, but definitely not the sound. Nix provides a sound that is elemental, you can pull apart the different layers within her full sound when listening to her creations. Nix provides a sense of drama to her vocalism, which is definitely what makes her stand out. As a published poet, we’re highly impressed with how well Nix can communicate her raw emotion into a ballad. We also have to comment on the fact that Nix is an incredibly diverse artist in terms the genres she has precluded to within her musical career so far—jazz, early 90’s, classic, pop and R&B. We love artists who can curate sounds that draw heavy influence from other music scenes—some of the best tracks we’ve heard to date can blend together sounds from varying genres you wouldn’t normally expect to be integrated as one. What caught our attention right away once listening to the voice of Nix was how aligned her vocalism is with Christina Aguilera, blended with unique elements of her own tempo and melody. “Playing With Fire” is undoubtedly a track that adds authenticity to the R&B music scene. You can fully understand and appreciate the poet in Nix through her music—it is completely within her to express her emotion and truth through her music with the utmost grace. Nix’s vocals in “Playing With Fire” are sultry, releasing the intent and message of desire to seek more than what is currently here. We love the mystery behind the sound, and immerse ourselves in the dramatic feel of Nix’s sound in “Playing With Fire”. Nixcontributes a modernized element to the pop/R&B music scene, and the execution was both impressive and pulsating. Experience the sound of Nix in her recent release “Playing With Fire” here —don’t forget to scroll below for Nix’s interview with us at BuzzMusic! Hey Nix! Welcome to the BuzzMusic community! Tell us more about you and how you developed as an artist!! Some of my earliest memories are of myself dancing and singing to Britney and Elvis in my living room. They were definitely two key players who inspired me, and still inspire me to make music. I played the piano at a young age and picked up the violin soon after. I became so involved in school choral and chamber ensembles, it was just apparent that music was ingrained in me. By the end of high school, I knew music was what I wanted to pursue professionally, and I wanted to share with others the same happiness I felt while listening to music and creating music. My taste has always been very eclectic; I have a heavy classical background but I also enjoy pop, blues, jazz, rock. I find every genre, every style, speaks to me. I can find meaning, value, and purpose in each song I listen to. I think that is a huge factor in what has shaped me to be the artistic chameleon I am now. I don't stick to one type of music - whether I'm listening to music or creating it - whatever feels good in the moment is what I like. What inspired the meaning behind your most recent release “Playing With Fire”? Playing With Fire was written when I was three months into a romantic relationship, and I was channeling the thoughts of what could go wrong in a new relationship. I drew from my previous experiences of being lied to, cheated on, etc. and hoped that the risk of starting a new relationship wouldn't follow the same negative cycle. Like, before I get close to you, let me make sure that this is what I want, and what I can handle mentally and emotionally. How does the sound you curated in “Playing With Fire” compare to music you made when you first started out? Playing With Fire is everything I love about the music that's charting today - it's grandiose, it's powerful, the production is insanely incredible and beautiful, and it makes the listener feel something. I am so proud of it. I like to consider my earlier works more organic, more homegrown and raw. They're very pure and I love that about them, but I'm happy to have some incredible music now that people can say "wow... that's a hit." If you ever come across creative blocks with creating your sound, how do you typically surpass them? Creative blocks are killer, but I know when they come I need to just relax, because if I try to push through, it ain't happening! It will make the block worse! So I'll go for a walk, organize something in my house, watch some TV... anything to reset my mind, and clean my slate. Are you panning on releasing any new music in the near future? I sure am! I have a few more songs that I am waiting to release on an EP, which will include Playing With Fire. So stay tuned! Make sure to follow me on Instagram and Spotify to hear when it's out! Welcome to BuzzMusic. How old were you when you started writing music? I was always told throughout school my poetry was good but it wasn't until age 18 I started writing to an instrumental and realised It for myself. Is there a specific event or person that inspired you to start taking your music more seriously? Yes, a specific event. I enrolled back into school and the time that I was taking for seminars and homework, which I didn't enjoy. It was time I didn't think I had to work on music. So going back to school taught me how to utilize my time and how to creat a plan and timeline of what I want done, get serious about it and get on it! Plus it excited me its something I enjoy doing. We love your track “I’m Nu”! What was the inspiration behind this song? What’s your favorite part? (lyrically or sonically) wow, the inspiration behind I'm Nu. Well its truly me. It all came to me in like a day. I was at my desk at work, which I work a call center. (Totally not for me, just pays my Bills until music can) but I actually had a customer telling me from my personality he knew there was more in store for me and my current job was a stepping stone. I know this, ya know. But to hear a complete stranger tellme, was music to my hears. Literally, In between calls when we got off the phone the lyrics just kept coming. I had already scheduled to go into the studio that day but for something I previously wrote. Went in and dropped this one. What do you hope your listeners take away from your music? I hope listeners get a better feel of me. I can't explain everything to everyone about myself, who I've grown to be, what I feel, because who will just sit and listen to that. Lol but I plan in the future tracks to put myself into everything I release. What’s next for you, Nu? I plan to give you all hit after hit even after someone finds me and helps make it a career. Right now me and my engineer are trying to get this mixing and master of the music and my vocals together, because I got alot of feedback on this track of my vocals being low. Once we do, I don't plan on quitting. Everyone knows how easy it is to quit when your heart is not in it. So wish me the best and stay tuned. - Jay Luke Gives Us A High Energy Delivery In “Vandalized Memories”
Jay Luke has been performing and writing music ever since the year of 2003. He has experience playing in bands such as The MESS, Sorrowsun, and ReachForTheSky, honing in on his craft, and paying his dues in the live circuit. After much frustration in getting the right line up secured to release an album with his first two bands, he decided to take the studio time he had left to record the songs he wrote to work on his solo career. Jay Luke gets the ball rolling with the release of his single titled “Vandalized Memories”. High energy, striking vocals, and instrumental playing that gives full velocity and electricity, Jay Luke is a force to be reckoned with! “Vandalized Memories” was a blissful song that operated in a clean execution of each element of rock n roll greatness! The percussion-soaked drums and consistent zest through the guitars was piercing and breathtaking. Jay Luke keeps his listener on a high andrenaline rush. It feels like a never-ending fast-paced rollercoaster, filled with twists and turns. “Vandalized Memories” is a song that will leave its trailblazing mark on the album by Jay Luke. Listen to “Vandalized Memories” here and get to know more about Jay Luke below! Welcome to BuzzMusic Jay Luke! Growing up, what attracted you to the genre of Rock n Roll? Who would you consider some of your inspirations/influences? Thank so much for having me! My earliest memories growing up were sitting in front of the television and seeing this new thing called MTV. Music Television for me was as foreign and exciting of a world as Star Wars was. I was part of the first generation of kids that experienced it before it turned into the parody it is now airing teen pregnancy shows 24/7 lol. It was a magical thing that transported me to a different place to daydream and I ate up every moment, every artist, and every video like it was my only sustenance. I was easily most attracted to Van Halen during those years. Not even ten years old and seeing VH with David Lee Roth quarterbacking the band was pretty much the whole reason music was soon to be my life. They embodied rock n roll so magically. In later years the band Hanoi Rocks would become my all time favorite band but I was first raised on the classics like Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, KISS and Van Halen. Knowing you’ve had that experience in a band with multiple personalities and opinions, do you ever feel any pressure as a solo artist? The funny thing about doing my solo thing after performing with so many bands with clashing ideas and everyone trying to pull the steering wheel in a different direction is that there is no pressure in it now. The pressure is just largely that I always want to make something better than what I have done before. Someone once said you're only as good as your last release. So I am a firm believer that staying relevant means not resting on past glories. Satisfaction in that is what kills the desire in most artists. So I guess my only pressure these days is to keep on pushing forward with stronger tunes. We love your music! What was the meaning behind the tough lyricism in “Vandalized Memories”? Thank you very much, that means a lot. With almost every song I write I try not to avoid personal things I am going through. I work through them with the music and lyrics instead of sitting with a shrink lol. My songs are little windows in time of what I was going through. Vandalized Memories seems to be the track off the album that spews the most venom from a very ugly time I was in the middle of. There was a very abusive, violent person that seemed to ruin everyone's good time with jealousy, and a super controlling nature. So much so that it landed the person in prison and made their life a mess that affected everyone else around them. So it was the basis of what I call a vandalized memory. The song just sort of documented how not to let jealousy and violence make you an example that ends up making things a million times worse. What was the most challenging aspect for you in creating this record? How did you overcome this obstacle? The most challenging bit about making this release was trying to keep my sanity together through living the experience it was drawn from. The fact that I went so personal with it makes it a more intense release than my first album. It is a rollercoaster of emotions from song to song that includes love, hate, sadness, joy, loss, struggle, and triumph. So for me personally to overcome the challenge I wanted to make sure not to shy away from the personal aspect. Since the release I have put out a music video for a really beautiful song called "Keep Your Head Up Kid" and the title track "Vandalized Memories" has landed on 13 playlists that took me from 20 some monthly listeners to 3000 in a matter of a week. It's surreal to me. Radio stations are playing it on both sides of the country and when people tell me how they relate to something I wrote and lived through, it is easily the best feeling any artist can hope for. It makes every struggle worth it when you know you touch someone. Because at the end of the day the one thing you cannot change is the way you make them feel initially. There is a magic in that, a power that can't be taken away. You will always remember what you felt or were going through when a certain song plays if the connection is powerful enough. And to me, success isn't money or fame it's making people feel. Cause we are all going through similar struggles. What’s next for you Jay Luke? The next thing I am hoping to finish up is a new music video for a song off this latest release called "The Light of Night". I have worked with the same producers for the last two music vids and we seem to really sync up the imagery and clips to the music so well. With any luck, the video will be completed by Summer's end and aside from that, I am always doing live gigs. In the midst of the shows each week and the music video I am planning on heading back to the studio to get working on the 3rd solo album in the Autumn months. I have a lot of ideas and bits already assembled it's just a matter of finding the elusive time to sit down and sort them out into a cohesive pattern or theme. I have always felt like each new day is like a blank canvas and we as the artists are holding the paintbrush which can be both frightening and tremendously exciting to see what is to come next. I am just grateful that people are starting to take an interest in my work not just locally but all over America as well as overseas, I am forever going to be thankful for that. Stay on the lookout for what Tyler Bartfai delivers next! Listen to “She’s The One” here and red more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Tyler! Can you start by telling our readers about your upbringing and how you got started making music? I was born and raised in a small town on the coast of BC, and that has always been in the fibre of who I am. I spent a few years in Ontario while attending university, but couldn’t stay away from the ocean much longer. I’m always very grateful for that time in my life though because it was what sparked me picking up guitar and pursuing song-writing. The major catalyst of me wanting to make music was John Mayer’s Born and Raised album. I wanted to be able to connect to people the way the songs on that album connected to me. How do you draw inspiration from your wide variety of influences? For me a lot of my influences are sub-conscious from a writing perspective. I never go into a writing situation saying I want to replicate such a song, or make a song like an individual, but I know that the music I listen to, and especially the stuff I listen to frequently has a huge influence on what I write. I tend to write across a lot of genres, so each song will have influences or possible comparisons to other people. I basically hope to take the sum of the musicians before me, and ones that inspire me, and to help move forward the collective body of work. We love “She’s The One”! Can you talk about the meaning of the lyrics? She’s The One for me was a friend-zone song of sorts. Not that I felt hard-done by in any way shape or form, but there was someone I wasn’t sure of how to express my feelings towards and this song was originally a very quick writing session of my thoughts on everything. A few changes were made in pre-production, but the song stayed largely the same from start to finish. What do you hope your listeners take away from this song? I hope with all my songs to encourage listeners to be emotionally honest with themselves and others. Another take away might be chances are worth taking! After I wrote this, I pursued said relationship and It led to a fulfilling year and a half with the person the song was originally about. What’s next for you? Currently I am touring behind my EP, ‘Can You Tell’. After the summer of touring I’ll be back to my day job, which is working at a salmon enhancement facility. I have a number of songs ready for recording, so it will just be a waiting game to secure funding and make a strategic plan for the next release Connect with Tyler Bartfai on social media www.facebook.com/TylerBartfaiMusic

- Pavo Real Is Changing The Rock Scene And Raising The Bar In New EP “The Space”
Pavo Real just dropped their eclectic rock EP “The Space” and we can’t get enough. Based in Los Angeles, Pop- Rock n’ Roll band Ravo Real is comprised of three undeniably gifted artists. Oscar Bugarin on lead vocals/guitar, Joe Wendt on bass, and Greg Lewis on drums. Pulling from their notable range of musical influences that span from Motown and the Beatles, to John Mayer and the Grateful Dead, Pavo Real is making authentic and soulful Rock n’ Roll that will go down in history. Pavo Real is on the rise, currently building a fan base in and around Los Angeles by releasing new, original content, and by putting on high-energy, high-quality performances. Pavo Real's debut 5-song EP titled “The Space”, which was also fully written and recorded independently, hit all digital shelves on May 31st, 2019. The EP starts off with a smooth and bluesy track titled “Be” that focuses on the pleading and overwhelming feelings of love. Oscar screams “I wanna be your everything, just don’t take your love away from me” and the absolute power and energy that vibrates through the speakers is so raw and intense it will give you goosebumps. With soul crushing guitar solos and a choir of vocals, “Be” establishes an explosive and unforgettable intro to “The Space”. As the EP transitions into “Marigolds” we move with the music into an up tempo swinging melody. This track promotes a feeling of togetherness through the high energy feeling of the music. More spectacular music breaks layered with the sultry, yet light hearted vocals of Oscar Bugarin. “Marigolds” keeps Greg Lewis busy through the insane finale as the energy and high-hats are flowing. Powerhouse trio, Pavo Real has us certainly hooked and the move into the third track “No Place”. A more mellow rock song, “No Place” weaves through storytelling elements of trials and tribulations of someone who is lost. Whether this refers to physically or mentally lost, the metaphorical lyricism blends catchy riffs with heavy subject matter and we’re here for it. In this track we hear more detailed use of Oscar’s mesmerizing vocal range and tone as he belts of every word with raw emotion. “Shine” is the fourth track on “The Space” and I have to say it’s my favorite. “Shine” is a seductive love ballad fused with soul-filled flare and undertones of jazzy melodies. Pavo Real has outdone themselves with their flawless delivery and undeniably chemistry that blasts through the speakers. The ups and downs of “Shine” lead into a truly impressive guitar solo to wrap up the catchy hit. Echoing synths fade in as we move into the rolling beats of “Deflated” the fifth and final track on “The Space”. “Deflated” is a song about being mentally exhausted and empty and finding a way out of that feeling. The heavy chorus provide enough emotion while still remaining gritty and hard rock. With elements of classic rock mixed with contemporary rhythms and a powerful sound, “Deflated” is hard hitting conclusion to an intense EP. Pavo Real is able to relate to their listeners on so many levels. Through their meaningful lyricism or their finely-calibrated instrumentals, Pavo Real establishes true connections with their fans. Check out the full experience of Pavo Real's EP: “The Space” here. Keep scrolling to read more with Pavo Real in our exclusive interview with the trio below! How did you all meet? When did you create Pavo Real? Greg and Joe have been on each other’s musical radars since high school but had never teamed up musically until Joe responded to a Facebook post by Greg in August 2017. Greg was looking for a bassist to form a new project. Oscar joined the picture that following September after Greg had seen a video of him playing guitar and reached out to join. That was the birth of Pavo Real. The guys, born and raised in LA, looking to to make a splash in the scene. What overall theme does your EP “The Space” have? The general theme of “The Space EP” is overcoming hard times and about being down on your luck. There are songs about love...but also pain, fear, and relationships - the emotions every human being experiences. We wanted the lyrics to be relatable and relevant, as well as not dated. From an artist’s perspective, what’s your favorite track? Why? We all love the song Deflated because it’s a high energy rocker. We hit hard during that song and it’s a good one to close the set with. But honestly picking a favorite song is like picking a favorite child! Are all of the songs on “The Space” based on life experiences? Absolutely. When listening, you’ll find that each song is about a different experience had by one of us at one point in our lives. What’s your writing process like together? We try to get together at least two times a week to rehearse our existing material/ work out fun, “deep cut” covers. Usually one of those meet-ups is a writing session where we will either bring small pieces of tunes to the table and complete them together, or bring an already completed song and teach it to the boys in the band. When one person isn’t free to rehearse, that’s usually a good time for the other two members to meet up and write a song. Lately we’ve been writing more and more together as a cohesive unit, and the new material is really proving to be exciting, unique and fresh. What’s next for Pavo Real? We’re trying to build a team with people we trust. We need a manger, and an agent and that’s something we’re working on now. We would like to get on the road and tour as soon as possible as we feel that's the perfect next step for us as a band. If we could find a band with a larger draw to take us on the road under their wing, that’d be a dream come true. As for now we’re going to keep gigging locally and continue writing songs. We have a free headlining gig August 1st at Lucky Strike Live -we play at 11:00! Comprised of Kathryn Dobbin (vocals and keyboard) and Charlie Player (vocals and guitar), the powerhouse duo is self-made and rising to the top. Up and coming project Kar releases their debut single “Anything At All”. This track dabbles with the idea of getting over someone you once loved very deeply. The emotions that someone feels when they realize they’re moved on from someone they used to care about are overwhelming but Kar manages to beautifully put that into a song. The mesmerizing melody and catchy tune makes “Anything At All” a spectacular debut. Kathryn Dobbin has an angelic and pure vocal register that resonates with her listeners and Charlie’s harmonies and strumming match perfectly. The melancholic yet easy listening indie-pop sound that Kar creates in memorable and addicting. The admirable quality of being able to create music that your fans can relate to is hard to find but Kar has got it. We can’t wait to see what they do next! Check out “Anything At All” here and read more below in our exclusive interview. Hi Kar! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How did you the of you meet? We met at College as we were both studying a music performance course. During the start of the year we didn't think in a million years that we would end up forming a band but after being put together for a project we realized that musically we have very similar ambitions and more than anything we love working together. What’s your writing process like as a duo? Sometimes long and strenuous, sometimes quick and easy, it depends to be honest. We tend to think about chords or context first, whether it's a narrative or an event that one of us would like to write about. we then spend most of our time writing lyrics as we want our vocals to flow and convey meaning to our listeners. Next step is to grab our session drummer and tighten up the instrumentation to make sure everything fits together nicely, and after hours and hours of practice, we are ready to start the recording process. What does the track “Anything At All” mean to you? What inspired it? Anything at All is about moving on from an old relationship that may have once felt perfect but was never the right thing. We both have had bad experiences in relationships in the past but are happy to say that we are now in the best place we can be. What do you hope your listeners take away from it? Anything at All is a message to our listeners saying that if you aren't happy then the only way you can fix it is by figuring it out in the first place and changing something in your life. Be selfish, as it's YOUR life and no one else's. From an artist’s perspective, what do you think the most powerful lyric in “Anything At All” is? Probably the last line of the Chorus 'you don't owe me'. The title links with this line and it shows that despite having a bad experience, they don't owe you anything because you've taught yourself how to be happy and no one else has. The past is in the past. Be sure to connect with Kar to stay updated on upcoming releases, via the artists socials: Facebook Instagram #BuzzMusic

When curating "Ballerina", what type of environment were you reaching for when your listeners tuned into the track? Releasing ‘Ballerina’ was kind of new territory for me aswell. Definitely wanted to break ground in South America, and am super grateful for the incredible response we’ve received from there on the single. I also knew I wanted a video for it & needed the perfect crew for it. Which I was blessed with when working with Teagan Walker & Jess the snapper (@teaganwalker & @jessthesnapper). Going into the second quarter of this year I knew I wanted to make a point to start putting out content with more substance. ‘Ballerina’ is the first single off of an EP that you can expect sometime this fall, that is less the party/turn up style & and a lot more of a story teller side of life situations I’ve both found myself in, & gotten myself out of. Would you say that your music is a big reflection on your own personal experiences? Absolutely yes. My music has always been therapy for me. What are your plans for the rest of 2019 music-wise? I’m really excited to release my first project this fall. Been working really hard going through over 50 + songs and continually writing more to shape the best sound I can for you guys! Also just finalizing the release tour dates which will probably be announced in August! Make sure you all stay posted to socials for updates!
