- Texas Rapper Dedrick Delivers A Message In “Know Your Worth
Born in Temple Texas, Dedrick has cultivated his sound over the years. Finding a balance between melodic and lyrical, he returned to music in 2019 after his hiatus in 2015. His return has been nothing less than eye-opening and interesting. Music from Dedrick has been quality yet unique with every song. Time can only tell how he'll evolve and grow as a hip hop artist in today's climate. Dedrick Released his single titled “Know Your Worth” and this song was DOPE. Dedrick gives his listener multiple transitions in his vocals from a regular aggressive rap flow to even showcasing soulful and melodic vocals. Just like his balance of lyrical and melodies, Dedrick gives a constant back and forth punch between both. You don’t know which element of the song you love more! I mean both were so great you couldn’t pick one. “Know Your Worth” was a hit song that had many different dimensions for its listener to unintentionally select their favorite one. “Know Your Worth” had a strong lyrical substance. It was very motivational and inspiring. The entire hook had a powerful and thought-provoking message many young people need to hear. Knowing your self-worth, stopping excuses, and surrounding yourself with healthy individuals with good intentions seemed to be the major theme we took from this song! “Know Your Worth” is an indescribable fire song that will resonate well with the hip-hop audience. Check out "Know Your Worth" here and read more below in our exclusive interview! Hey Dedrick! How was it growing up in Texas? What moved you into the direction of music? Growing up in Texas has always been interesting because I've always been in a position to meet such talented people. From entrepreneurs and businessmen all the way down to dancers and singers. Texas is full of talent, I wouldn't want to be from anywhere else. Since I moved around alot as a kid from various states, I was fortunate enough to absorb the music and make it my own. My earliest memories consist of me being in the backseat of my dads car listening to music on the way to California from Texas or from California to Arizona. Music is something that has always been a soundtrack to my life as far as I can remember so making songs seemed like a natural progression for me. Especially after writing my first song at 11. How was the return to music after your small hiatus challenging? In what ways was it better for you as an artist? The return to music wasn't difficult at all because I used my time off to challenge myself and get in a creative space. I would freestyle on a daily basis and give myself topics to rap about, objects around me to rap about, I'd even go as far as not rapping about a specific topic if I noticed it being a reoccurring theme. That was some of the training I put myself through to keep my mind witty. On the writing side, the gap gave me time to record and reassess what I could do better. Whether that meant switching up the beats I used, trying a new flow, or even experimenting with vocals. I looked at the break as my time to grow and evolve. Songs were being made but I kept them to myself and refused to release them, not for qualities sake but because by time I hit the studio again I'd out grow and out do the last song. We love your style of music! Who are some of your inspirations? Thank you, some of the artist that inspire me are 2pac, Eminem, Jay Z, DMX, Lil Wayne, Game, Drake, Cole, Kendrick, Gucci Mane, 50 Cent, Tech N9ne, Kanye. Those are some of the artist. But who inspires me behind my music would be my family. My parents pushed me in their own way to become the man that I am. The least I can do is take a leap of faith with my music and keep inspiring people the way they've done for me. I can't leave out my siblings and my friends. If it wasn't for my big brother I wouldn't be as tough or clever as I am. Growing up with boys is very competitive so my brother would push me to toughen up and we would roast day and night, it was his way of showing love. That gave me perspective and helped me think outside the box and be creative. I did the same to my little brothers and my homies because steel sharpens steel. It seemed to us that “Know Your Worth” had a powerful message behind it. I mean, if it isn’t noticeable in the title! What could be some possible themes behind this record? I mean, it's all about finding yourself and being unapologetically you no matter what. Its about embracing all parts of yourself and no trying to fit in and conform. There's nothing you and I can't do if you put your all into it. Don't worry about what others say or think. Your value as a person isn't dictated by peoples opinion and thoughts of you. Your worth is characterized by your actions and value you add to others. So, just keep on keeping on and know your worth. What’s next for you Dedrick? What's next for me is building my brand and solidifying myself as an artist. My goal is to build the most strongest and loyal fan base because I do this for them. In return, my job is to put out the best content and keep them entertained and growing. With that being said expect content on a weekly or bi weekly basis. I plan on making it on my own with my team, The Ambrosia Effect. Stay connected with Dedrick on social media! Instagram: www.instagram.com/iamdedrick
- Jenez Is Coming With HEAT In “Judo”
Inspired by Bob Marley, Tyler The Creator, Michael Jackson, Drake, and more, Jenez grew up in the bay area as a biracial kid. His diverse musical taste led him to create a multitude of multi-faceted music that fits into these genres; R&B, Rap, and PoP. with a background in instruments such as piano, guitar, alto saxophone, and tenor, Jenez has compiled together a large number of musical roots alongside his environment New York City to help play a vital role in his music. Jenez released the single titled “Judo” and after taking a listen to this single, we might ensure you that Jenez may be the next face of hip-hop. The beat had a laid-back lo-fi vibe with strong cultural hip-hop roots incorporated. What I loved about “Judo” the most was Jenez unique wordplay and the way he was able to smoothly deliver a rapid tempo while giving fun metaphors and a catchy hook. “Judo” was able to make me feel relaxed and that’s an important factor in music for me. It’s rare you hear a hip-hop song that gives you a more serene feeling, however “Judo” comforted my mood in a sense. While the song made me feel relaxed, the lyrics still gave me that hard-hitting badass vibe that I like to receive from hip-hop music. “Judo” will resonate well with the lovers of lyricists like Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Jcole. Ironically, all of Jenez influences. Jenez began as a lyricist and evolved into producing his own beats and instrumentals. Now working on producing and writing new music, he experiments with his style and sound with the aim of creating music that will connect people across musical tastes and impact others the way he has been impacted by his influences. Check out "Judo" here and read more below in our exclusive interview! What’s up Jenez! In what ways has your background and upbringing impacted your style of music? I would say that both of those have impacted the way I view music. I grew up in an area with it’s own vibrant music scene and distinct sound and, even though I don’t specifically adhere to the Bay Area sound of rap, it gave me a love for where I’m from and taught me what it can take to stand out. In addition, the music my parents would play when I was young varied greatly which gave me an introduction to all styles of music. You’re a strong lyricist! How would you detail your songwriting approach if you don’t mind sharing? I think songwriting is an interesting thing because of it’s variability. Sometimes the words, melodies, and flows just come pouring out and you feel strongly about a song in a few hours (which is what happened in this case). Depending on how the songwriting process is going, I can, for example, freestyle to myself and write down the best lines that fit my theme, sit or listen to a beat for hours and take a long time for every line. Hip-hop undergoes various changes throughout the years. What’s your take on the current state of hip-hop? I think that hip-hop and rap are at such an interesting point. I think that there is a lot of complication because of the over-saturation as rap became the most popular genre in the United States but, I also love the variety that has come out of that. Without this huge influx of music, we wouldn’t have artists like Tyler the Creator who has such a special and distinct sound as he incorporates jazz and synths whole flexes his production and songwriting chops. We wouldn’t have songs like Old Town Road breaking genre barriers. We wouldn’t have rappers like Playboi Carti who are playing around with the english language to the point where people can’t understand. All of these things are happening at the same time in hip-hop which is absolutely wild to me. I love it. In what ways does “Judo” represent you as an artist? I would say Judo shows my love of songwriting and production as well as a distinct sound that anybody who knows me, and will know me, will realize. I had a great time writing that song and so much fun shooting the music video. It was a moment of pushing past the anxiety that had plagued me about changing my artist name and releasing music in general. What’s next for you Jenez? More and more and more music in all capacities. I’m going to be working on an album this summer in addition to many standalone tracks as well. Be on the lookout. It’s time to take over the world. - Black Creek Reign Fuses Multiple Genres To Create This Sensational Hit, “Gone Away”
Black Creek Reign was founded by Darren Armoogam and Lex Stultz after the implosion of a previous project. They both had to pick the pieces up after a controversial ending from their past. They keep the unique sounds of Blues, Reggae, Pop, and Rock Music. The addition of Shane Joseph on drums last year offered the perfect piece to complete the 3 piece ensemble, his experience and multi-instrumental prowess was a breath of fresh air for the band. Black Creek Reign released their single titled “Gone Away” and if they thought the drummer was the only breath of fresh air for this band? Then they must not know the exact impact they leave on a listener! “Gone Away” was one of the most refreshing sounds I’ve heard in recent listening. The mixture of different genres created a well-seasoned and tasteful song we couldn’t get enough of. “Gone Away” vocals and melodies were like the icing on the cake to a beat so sensational. “Gone Away” kept me going through multiple different vibrations and exuded unique vibes to the listener. I’m a personal huge fan of Reggae, so the addition of reggae in the beat was nicely done. The vocals kept adding a smoothly-saturated texture to keep the song alive and consistent. Prepare yourself to escape your day to day stress with a magnificent song like “Gone Away”. Black Creek Reign knew they had something special, and they show us that in “Gone Away”. - Pedestrian Lifestyle Creates The Atmospheric Hit, “If I Surrender”
Hailing all the way from Thunderbay, Ontario is the three-piece lineup; Josh Talakoski, Leif Peltonen & Dylan Maxwell. Their name? Pedestrian Lifestyle. While always adding to their musical palette, the group’s music blends melody and emotion. Forming in 2008 the trio slowly began to take shape and put together their own sound. Basing much of their material off of emotional and musical influences to aid their creative process. “Pedestrian Lifestyle is an evolution, a constant work in progress.“ Pedestrian Lifestyle released their latest single titled “If I Surrender” and this soft rock vibe was pure and compassionate. The polished sound keeps consistent melancholic energy moving its listener through the duration of the song. With a tightly wound rhythm section and waves of echoing guitar and vocals, the band blends different styles of alternative music with a very ambient rock feel to create something new and interesting. The hazy atmospheric sound that intertwines with the eclectic rock elements, “If I Surrender” fabricates the most prepossessing foundation of a listener and their emotions. I personally love music that abducts me. And for “If I surrender” we become instantly infected by the enigmatic tune. The lyrics felt poetically written with an inversive arrangement, yet executed perfectly. Pedestrian Lifestyle proves to be the connective force that binds together your emotions and experience with the music. Becoming a unit with a song is one of the most extravagant experiences you can endure while listening to a song, and Pedestrian Lifestyle delivers that with “If I Surrender”. Check out "If I Surrender" here and read more in our exclusive interview below! What’s up Pedestrian Lifestyle! We love your name. It’s a unique stage name so we must ask, what’s the story behind it? The story behind the band name comes from a conversation I had with a friend of mine back in the day over one summer. I hadn't seen him in quite a while so naturally he asked what I had been up to and at the time I didn't have a car so I was walking around to get everywhere so my response was "Just living a pedestrian lifestyle". I kind of liked the sound of it so I wrote it down in an old notebook I kept a lot of ideas in and when it came time to pick a band name I presented it to the other guys and it just kind of stuck. In what ways do your distinctive personalities come together, showcase in your music? We are all pretty laid back and reserved guys, so making music gives us the opportunity to be creative and our express ourselves in whatever way we see fit. It just seems to work with the 3 of us. Speaking of your music, “If I Surrender” was beautiful. What was the theme behind this song? What inspired you to write this? If I Surrender was written based around a looped guitar riff we would mess around with at practices. Eventually we took the time to sit down with it and write a few more parts based around the main riff and it became what it is today. The subject matter of the song is kind of about letting go and trying to tune out the outside world and the negative factors in life. In what ways does “If I Surrender” represent you as a trio? I think If I Surrender best represents the overall sound of the band. It has a very ethereal and atmospheric feel to it with an interwoven upbeat rock element to it. So sonically it has all the fundamentals and elements that kind of make up our sound. Any exciting updates you'd like to share with us Pedestrian Lifestyle? Well we just released the single which now available on 7inch vinyl. We are currently in the midst of writing our new album and gearing up for a tour of Southern Ontario in late July with our friends in Visions of Doyle. - Dan Priddy’s “Dopamine” Is An Intoxicating, Vivacious Track For The Soul
Dan Priddy is a multi-platinum selling producer and songwriter who is coming out from the shadows to showcase his sultry and addicting sound. On June 7th, Danreleased his first official single “Dopamine” that was self-written, produced, mixed and master and is a reflection of the London-based artist. Exploring the moment you meet someone and it changes your life, to the euphoric feeling we get from dopamine being released in our brains. “It’s about the rush they give you when you’re around them and it’s set in the moment of when you’re heart is pounding and you’re about to tell them how you feel.” Explains Dan, “It’s very special to me because it’s a true situation I was in and writing the song was almost like a kind of therapy. It gives me an emotion when I listen to it which is really my goal when creating music. If other people have gone through similar emotions I had, hopefully this could be a soundtrack to that moment for them as well”. Currently Dan is collaborating with Rag’n’Bone Man, an artist who he has written and produced for before, along with being featured on Bastille’s mixtape “VS”. Dan’s musical journey is just beginning with much more music to come throughout the year and a new EP on the rise for next year. “Dopamine” starts off with funky sounds and the start of young love story that is delivered with passionate vocals and beats that are infectious. The lyrics are packed full of metaphors and emotion that help deliver that feel-good first love vibe that can be felt through Dan’s voice. I personally love the addition of the lines “We’re high as Saturn, Venus, Mars and Mercury, you give me the sweetest hit of dopamine” in the chorus sections that paint a picture of the amount of euphoria that can be felt from meeting that special someone in your life. I love the tone of voice that Dan has as he really showcases his talent and ability to glide through a wide vocal range to emphasize his lyrics and draw his listener in. “Dopamine” has a beautiful collection of sounds that are vibrant and have numerous layers compiled together to create an intoxicating tune that is soothing to listen to. I find that the track is really relatable and describes the feeling of love wonderfully. In my opinion, “Dopamine” combines some classic pop stylings together with electric sounds that remind me of a blend of Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran. Put this song on repeat because the feeling that rushes over the mind and body when listen to “Dopamine” is incomparable and it is an extremely catchy tune that you will be singing over and over again. - Lively Track “Always” By Quaid Is A Pop Song Of The Summer
Artist Quaid was born in California, raised in Romania and has been creating music for 10 years. At the age of 15, Quaid was gifted a guitar from his dad for his birthday and first performed at his high schools talent show in grade 9. This moment was the first realization that this was Quaid’s path and now he lives in New York City at the age of 25 producing for himself and other artists. Quaid has toured with Machine Gun Kelly and produced “Sunrise Sunset” for singer J Brown while striving to achieve his own art. “Always” is an upbeat song that get the body moving right off the bat with beats that are infectious and vocals that are on point. With a low tone, Quaid is able to show off his talents of being able to hit not only the low notes, but he also has the ability to hit the higher notes with ease. I personally love the collection of sounds that accompany the lyrics as they really help give “Always” character and depth. Quaid uses a classic verse-chorus structure to write his lyrics and I find that there is emphasis on the lines “Don’t let me down, I know it isn’t fair but you promised you’d be there, always” as if the meaning behind the track is that he is lonely, trying to find connection and was let down at one point. The delivery of the song is powerful, and Quaid has written an extremely catchy song that easily gets stuck in your head. Watch out for this up-and-coming artist as “Always” was just a taste of the immense talent that Quaid has at creating music. Listen to "Always" here! Keep up with Quaid on social media! Can you start by introducing yourself to our readers? How did you come up with your stage name? Yo so my name is Joseph Johnson from Philadelphia, by way of Orlando by way of Chicago lol. My stage name is pretty unique to me. One of my good friends from church wrote a poem a few years ago and she named it Untitled. That poem spoke on how dangerous it is for people in the church to get caught up in their "titles" for example pastor, bishop, etc. We should not be focused on those temporal things because they won't matter when we leave this earth. While I was thinking of a name for myself that popped in my head and I ran with it, I just took the vowels out and made it unique. "Untdld, no titles needed. Untitled without the vowels because I can't be bought." How did you get started in the music industry? I got started making music while attending Full Sail University but I had no skill or content. I had a lot of work to do so I'm glad none of that music made it to the internet because it was trash. When I moved to Philly I connected with my pastor and I rapped for a new years celebration in 2016. After that I was inspired and started working on my craft again. Who are your musical influences? I grew up listening to a lot of christian rap so I was influenced by Cross Movements, Da Truth, Lecrae, currently Ruslan and a group from my local church in Chicago who went by the Holy Culture(RIP Jameel Harris). Outside of church I absolutely loved everything Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and Black Thought. Can you tell us the meaning behind “Off Pause”? Where did you get the inspiration to write it? Off Pause means that everything we ever dreamed of can happen now, no delay. It was inspired by a message my Pastor, Pastor Earlie James of Liberty Temple Philly West ministered a few months ago and he specifically stated that God has taken us off pause and is accelerating Gods people. After hearing that I found this dope beat produced by Tone Jonez and started writing. What are you currently listening to on repeat? Yo right now I got Ruslan's latest album Indie Jones III on repeat. If you don't know about this dude you need to do yourself a favor and go listen to it. It is a masterpiece from production all the way down to content. Stay connected with UNTDLD though his social media! www.instagram.com/_untdld #BuzzMusic
